My Day with Misty

I was running after some sort of Pokémon that I have never seen before. The red Pokémon was about to run into the bushes when all of a sudden, Grookey jumped out.

"Grookey!" My Pokémon cried out as it prevented the other Pokémon from escaping. I stepped closer, also preventing it from escaping.

"Fue?" The red Pokémon questioned. It then looked at me. "Coco?"

"Good job, Grookey!" I congratulated my partner. I looked at the new Pokémon, getting out my Poké Ball and smiled. "Prepare to me mine, awesome new Pokémon that I haven't seen before!" It then did something unexpected. It let out its Flamethrower, burning the Poké Ball to a crisp. I was of course disappointed. Well, at least it didn't whip the ball back to my face with its tail. And now since it used Flamethrower, I knew that it was a fire type. But it looks like I have to battle it.

I was about to get out my Inteleon when Grookey did its cry, shaking its head.

"Grookey, Grookey." It said, hitting its stick a few times in rapid succession on the ground like a drum. "Grookey!" I understood. It wanted to fight. I shook my head.

"Sorry, Grookey." I apologized. "But you're a grass type. This is a fire type Pokémon. You are at a disadvantage." Grookey seemed disappointed, but seemed to understand. Thank goodness, it understood me! I took out Inteleon's Poké Ball.

"Go, Inteleon!" I shouted. Inteleon! then appeared from out of the ball,

"Inteleon!" It uttered its cry.

"Snipe Shot!" I ordered it.

"Inteleon!" It obeyed and did its Snipe Shot attack. The red Pokémon tried to dodge it by running away. But Snipe Shot was faster and made contact. The red Pokémon soared backwards. It fell onto the ground. Yes! This is your chance, Goh! I got out another empty Poké Ball.

"Poké Ball, go!" I threw the ball and the Pokémon went inside.

Yes! Okay. Calm down, Goh! The Pokémon's not yours yet. The ball began flashing and shaking. I waited in anticipation. Come on, come on! It then stopped, and made a 'ding' sound, telling me that I had it. I grabbed the ball and smiled. I pumped my fist in the air and jumped up.

"Yes! I caught a brand new awesome Pokémon!" I cheered to myself.

"Grookey!" Grookey cheered as well.

"Unidentified Pokémon could not be registered." My Rotom Phone told me. I had a feeling that it would say that. But I didn't care. I just wanted a brand new Pokémon.

When I first encountered it, the Rotom Dex couldn't tell me any info on it, so I knew that it was from a different region. I had even called Professor Cerise and showed it to him on my phone.

"I haven't seen that Pokémon." He had said over the phone. "I don't think it's from any of the eight regions."

"Really?" I asked him. I then grew excited. "Does that mean it's a Pokémon yet to be discovered?!"

"Well, if it's not registering in your Rotom Phone, I believe so," I then felt like an idiot. Duh! Of course it is. Come on, Goh, use your brain!

"Can I catch it?" I had asked. He nodded. Dumb question again, Goh. You have a brain for a reason, use it!

"I believe so. Go ahead. I'm proud of you, Goh!" I smiled. We said our goodbyes, and I hung up, and put my phone away. But as soon as the Pokémon saw me, it ran away.

"Come on, Grookey!" I urged my Pokémon who had been sitting on my shoulder. "We can't let it get away!"

"Grookey!" It agreed with me. It leaped down and began to run after it. I did too.

"Ah, so we meet up again." Said a voice in the present. That voice. I know that voice! Then I recognized something. Wait, no, it couldn't be, could it? I looked and as I looked, I got my confirmation. I smiled. It was movie star, Jacquelyn! Standing next to her was her movie star partner, her Inteleon.

"Jacquelyn!" I cried. "Wow! I never thought I would see you again here and in person! What an absolute honor!" She grinned.

"We're always happy to see our fans." Jacquelyn said. She looked at her partner. "Right, Inteleon?"

"Inteleon!" Her Pokémon agreed. Jacquelyn looked at my Inteleon now.

"And I see you have an Inteleon now. Goh, wasn't it?" I nodded.

"Yup!" I answered. "…and my Inteleon is so awesome, just like yours Jacquelyn!"

"I see." She then got an idea. "Did you sign up for The Water Competition today?" I was then confused.

"Water Competition ? No, what's that?"

"It's a competition for water type Pokémon, testing their abilities with various challenges, and a battle with one of the Cerulean City Gym leaders at the end. It happens once every year at the Cerulean Gym and it's today." I beamed.

"Wow! That's so cool!" I then frowned. "Unfortunately, this is the first time for me hearing it since I only arrived not too long ago. Is it too late to sign up?"

"I don't know, but if it is, how would you and your Inteleon like to see my Inteleon in action today at the competition?" I beamed.

"Wow, really!? You would let us watch?" Jacquelyn nodded. "Wow, that's so nice and generous of you!" I bowed to her. "Thank you so much!"

"Of course! Anything for my fans!"

"Or, why not better yet, sign you up right now?" A voice asked. Wait, I know that voice too. I looked and couldn't believe my eyes again. It was Misty and she was approaching us! She stopped when she was next to us. "There's still time to sign up and registration is still open, for a little while longer. So, why don't you sign up, Goh? I'd like to see your Inteleon in action." I began to think about this.

"Well, I don't know." I said. "If it's today, I haven't had time to practice." I then saw my Inteleon in front of me, on its knees with its arms outstretched in front of it.

"Inteleon?" It begged. "Inteleon, Intel?" I knew what it was pleading. I may not be like Ash understanding his Pikachu, but I think I was becoming like him by understanding what my Pokémon wanted. I never saw my Inteleon beg before, or any of my Pokémon for that matter. This wasn't like it to beg like this.

"You really want to be in this competition, don't you, Inteleon?" Inteleon nodded.

"Inteleon, Intel." It answered. I smiled and nodded.

"Well, alright then. Who am I to tell you no? If you want to enter, I'll support you all the way, 100%!" My Inteleon was happy about that. It stood up and turned to Jacquelyn's Inteleon, talking to it. I however couldn't understand it this time. But I knew why it wanted to enter the competition now. It wanted to show Jacquelyn's Inteleon how far it came. I should have known. It idolized it ever since it was a Sobble.

"Well, we better leave and get ready for the competition." Jacquelyn spoke up, "See you guys later. Bye, now!" We all said our goodbyes as she left with her Inteleon. Misty looked at me.

"Let's get you signed up, Goh." Misty told me. "Come, I'll show you where registration is."

"Thank you so much." I said.

"Sure!" She spoke to me. "You are friends with Ash so you are my friend as well!" So, Inteleon and I followed Misty to wherever resignation was.

Registration was in Cerulean Gym because of course it was. My second guess was maybe the Pokémon Center. Still, wherever it was, it was nice to walk to it with Misty. A blue haired woman was sitting at a table where the sign up sheet was. When I saw the sheet, a lot of people had signed up. I saw Jacquelyn's name, as well as her Pokémon she'll be using, her Inteleon.

"Goh," Misty began. "I'd like you to meet one of my sisters, Violet." Violet stood up and smiled at me.

"Greetings, Goh." She greeted me. "Welcome to the Cerulean City Gym. Are you here to sign up for the Water Competition?"

"Greetings yourself." I greeted her back. "And yes, I am, with my Inteleon."

"Inteleon!" My Pokémon chipped in. Violet looked at Inteleon.

"Oh, so another Inteleon, then?"

"Yup." I answered. "Is that okay?" Violet looked at me.

"Of course it is. You are the second one entering with an Inteleon."

"Oh, well, at least this competition isn't just all Inteleon and has a bit of variety."

"I agree. Variety is good." She looked at her sister. "So, Misty, is Goh your boyfriend?" Misty got red in the face.

"No!" Misty snapped. "Gosh, not every guy that I introduce you to has to be my boyfriend. Boys and girls can just be friends with one another, so stop making it weird and creepy."

"Chill, Misty. I know that. I was just kidding. You take things too seriously sometimes." But I can tell by Misty's face that she was still bothered by it. Violet looked at me again. "Want to meet her other sisters, Goh?"

"Sure." I told her. "Why not?"

"Is that a Pokémon joke?" I was about to respond, when she laughed at her own joke. "JK! Not everything is a joke." She looked at Misty again. "You better also tell your other sisters that Goh is not your boyfriend, otherwise they will think he is as well. Don't say I didn't warn you?"

"Can't you tell them?" Misty asked.

"Sorry. I would. But it would be better coming from you."

"But I…" But, she was already leaving. "Violet!" But she was already out of earshot. Misty groaned. "Sorry about my, sister."

"It's okay." I answered. "I don't mind really."

"Well, you should." I then changed the subject.

"Wait, Violet said sisters, as in plural. How many sisters do you have?"

"Including her, just three."

"Do you have any brothers?" Misty shook her head.

"Nope, just my sisters and I."

"Wow! Well, I'm an only child, so it's just me."

"Wish that were me at times." Violet then came back with a yellow haired girl and a pink haired girl. They all stood in front of us.

"Well, Misty?" The yellow haired girl spoke up after a bit. "Are you going to introduce us?" Misty sighed.

"If I must." She then changed her altitude. "Goh, these are Daisy and Lily. Daisy, Lily, Goh. Oh, and Goh is not my boyfriend. I just want to make that clear, so don't ask."

"We weren't." Daisy answered. Misty was shocked.

"Oh." She just said, a bit embarrassed.

"Honestly, Misty." Lily, the pink haired sister, spoke. "We know that not every boy you come across doesn't necessarily mean he's your boyfriend."

"Oh, well, that's good."

"We really thought that the trainer with the Pikachu would be your boyfriend." Daisy added. "You two might have been a cute couple." Misty once again, grew red in the face. Daisy then changed the subject, looking at me. "So, Goh, do you want a tour of the gym? I'd bet Misty would like to give you the tour."

"That's so kind of you to offer." I told her. "And maybe, but for right now I should practice with Inteleon since there's still time. After all, practice makes perfect!"

"Inteleon!" Inteleon agreed. Violet turned to Dailey.

"Goh can practice at the gym, can't he, Daisy?" She asked her.

"Yeah!" Lily added. "Since he's already here and all."

"Sure." Daisy responded. "And while we set up for him, Misty can show him her Pokémon. That's ok with you, Goh?"

"Thank you so much!" I told her. Misty sighed.

"Why do I have a feeling that you only invited Goh so he can spend more time with me?" She questioned.

"Don't be silly, Misty. We're only being nice."

"Yeah." Lily put in. "We would never set you up like that. We know you and Goh are just friends."

"Just like you and that Pikachu trainer." Violet added.

"That Pikachu trainer is Ash Ketchum." Misty told her sisters. They just looked at her. "Oh, never mind." She looked at me. "Let's just go Goh before this gets weird." Lily whispered something to Daisy that I didn't hear. I just said goodbye to all three of them, and followed Misty out of the room. They all bid me goodbyes too.

"Okay, Goh." Misty told me when we were in the pool room. She held her Poké Balls. "These are my Pokémon." She was about to throw them when a Pokémon popped out of its ball all on its own. It was Psyduck.

"Psyduck!" It said, Misty groaned.

"Psyduck!" She scolded. "Please, don't do that." She looked at me. "Anyway, Goh, this is Psyduck."

"Hi, Psyduck." I greeted it. "I'm Goh." Grookey hopped off of my shoulder.

"Grookey!" It said and tapped its stick on the ground a few times for the duck. "And this is Grookey." Psyduck watched its little performance.

"I have a feeling those two would get on great somehow." Misty stated.

"Yeah." I agreed. "Grookey wants to be friends with everyone. It's a good Pokémon to have around, but it's quite a handful. It's like a baby."

"Psyduck is a handful for me too." She admitted. "And Togepi was a baby to me." I looked at her in confusion.

"Togepi?" I never even saw or heard of a Togepi before, so I looked it up on my Rotom Dex. After the explanation, I looked at Misty again. "But I thought you had all water Pokémon considering you are a leader of a water type gym."

"I do, but Togepi was the only exception."

"Was? You mean you don't have it anymore?"

"Correct. I do not. I had to release it when it evolved into a Togetic. It needed to be with the other Togepi that we met in the Mirage Kingdom."

"Mirage Kingdom?" Misty nodded.

"It was hard letting it go, but it has a responsibility now. It matured so fast. I'm so proud of it."

"I get it. I had a Flabébé, but I had to let it go so it could be with its friends." I then frowned. Misty noticed this.

"What is it, Goh?" Misty wanted to know.

"Grookey?" Grookey also questioned.

"Nothing." I said. "It's just that I wasn't sure about setting out on a journey without Ash. I have been with him for a long time that I was scared of going on my own. I still am." I then smiled. "But he assured me that I can do it, and you know what? He's right. I can! I can do anything because the future is in the palm of my hand!"

"You sure can, Goh." Misty agreed. "It might be scary, but you can do anything that you set your mind to."

"Grookey!" Grookey spoke.

"Thanks, guys." I thanked them.

"Sorry to interrupt you two,…" Daisy began. "But your training is ready, Goh." I looked and saw that she was right. There were plastic targets above the pool, some of them moving, a dollhouse surrounded by fake fire and plastic tubes in the water for laps. It was like we were at a swim meet. I looked at Inteleon.

"Let's get to training, Inteleon!" I told it.

"Inteleon!" It agreed.

"I'll watch." Misty said.

"Then let's give Misty a show." I told Inteleon.

"Inteleon." It agreed.

"Here's a timer." Lily said as she gave it to me.

"The faster you do all of these activities, the better." Violet added.

"We're rooting for you two." Daisy said. I thanked them, then I looked at one of the plastic targets.

"Water Gun, Inteleon!"

"Inteleon!" Inteleon did as it was ordered. I looked at the second target. "Water Gun on that target as well!" Inteleon did its cry and did Water Gun on it too.

Once all of the targets were down, I stopped the timer, looked at it and smiled.

"Awesome, 59 seconds! Way to go, Inteleon!"

"Inteleon!" Next, I looked at the house on fire and Inteleon put out the flames. I, once again, timed it.

Inteleon had the house extinguished in a minute and seven seconds. It was a bit longer than the targets, but it tried its best. Plus, this was only training. It might do a better job later.

Inteleon jumped into the pool, got in position, and when it took off, I timed it as it swam back and forth. I cheered for it the whole time.

Inteleon was so fast in the water that water splashed onto the floor. I tried not to slip and fall in. Psyduck, however, was close to the edge.

"Psyduck!" Misty scolded. "Don't stand near the edge otherwise you'll…" As Psyduck looked, the duck Pokémon screamed as he tripped and fell in with a splash. The duck screamed as it tried to stay afloat. "Help it! Psyduck can't swim!" I looked at the poor screaming duck.

"Inteleon, rescue it!" Inteleon swam to the frantic duck and tried to grab it, but the duck was just flailing its arms too much and kicked Inteleon away instead.

"Psyduck, relax!" Misty shouted to her Pokemon. "Inteleon is trying to save you!" But Psyduck didn't listen for it was still frantic.

"Please, Psyduck!" I pleaded with it. "Inteleon isn't going to hurt you. We just want to help." Inteleon then managed to grab Psyduck and swam it safely back. Misty and I ran to it as Inteleon placed the duck on the solid floor once again. The duck stopped screaming and looked confused. It acted like it wasn't fighting for its life mere moments ago.

"Great job, Inteleon!" I congratulated Inteleon. "You saved Psyduck; you're a hero!"

"Don't do that ever again, Psyduck." Misty told it. "You really scared me. You know you can't swim."

"Psyduck?" Asked the confused Pokemon.

"I never knew there were water Pokemon out there scared of the water and can't swim." I observed. Misty sighed.

"Well, that's unfortunately Psyduck." Misty said. "No matter what I try, Psyduck refuses to learn how to swim."

"Well, I can try to help but we're training right now." I told her. "Maybe later if you'd like."

"Thanks, but I don't know about that. It looks like my Psyduck will never be able to swim." I felt bad, but was determined to train again. I looked at Inteleon.

"Okay, Inteleon, back in the water! Let's redo it!" Inteleon agreed and swam back into position. It did the laps in a minute and 25 seconds.

Inteleon practiced hitting targets, putting fires out, and swimming back and forth in the pool. It got faster and faster each time. I was so proud of it.

The time has finally arrived. It was competition time! There were a lot of people, whether they were participating or just watching. Grookey, who was on my shoulder, chittered in excitement, jumped down and ran off. I ran after it, calling its name. Inteleon ran by my side.

"Grookey, where are you going?!" I asked. I then saw her. It was Jacquelyn and her Inteleon. Inteleon and I went on over. "Hey, Jacquelyn!" I picked up Grookey. Jacqueline smiled at me.

"Well, well, well, long time no see, Goh." She spoke. "Are you and your Inteleon ready for the Water Competition?"

"You bet." I replied. "Inteleon and I can't wait to show you what we are made of.

"My Inteleon and I can't wait for you guys to show us what we are made of. You may know us as being in the movies, but today, we are going to show you guys another side of us, a side away from the cameras, red carpets, and the spotlight. Today, Inteleon and I are going to put on a show that you and your Pokemon partner will never forget." I smiled.

"I expect nothing less from you, Jacquelyn! So will my Inteleon and I!"

"I'm glad." Daisy then told everyone to get into position. Jacquelyn looked at me.

"Ok then." She told me. "May the best contestant win." I nodded.

"Agreed." Jacquelyn and I shook hands. We then went to our spots.

The first contest was Target Shooting. I saw that my Inteleon was nervous, for it was shaking and sweating all over.

"I know you are nervous." I told it. "You want to be the best. You don't want to mess up and impress Jacquelyn's Inteleon, but you can't let your nerves get to you. It'll be okay. I believe in you, Inteleon!"

"Grookey!" Grookey cried to it as well. My Inteleon ceased being nervous and looked determined.

"Yeah!" I cheered. "That's the spirit; you go, Inteleon!" The countdown began, and as the bell sounded, it was time to begin.

"Water Gun, Inteleon!" I ordered it and Inteleon let out Water Gun on the first target. Jacquelyn's Inteleon and the other participating water Pokemon let out their Water Guns on their targets.

My Inteleon was doing great, but so was Jacquelyn's Inteleon. My Inteleon shot all of the targets in fifty seconds. However, Jacquelyn's Inteleon did one second better, in 49 seconds! My Inteleon estinguished the burning house in exactly a minute, and Jacquelyn's Inteleon, once again, estinglished theirs one second better, in 59 seconds! All of the participating Pokemon jumped into the pool for the race. After the countdown, they all sped off.

The race was almost over, and both my Inteleon and Jacquelyn's Inteleon were neck to neck! Jacquelyn and I cheered for both of our Inteleons, as well as Grookey and the audience.

Suddenly, several smoke bombs shattered the windows. Glass and smoke filled the room. I coughed and coughed with the others. What the? What in the Pokemon world is happening?! Loud Pokemon cries were also heard, all of them frantic and filled with panic.

As soon as the smoke cleared, and we all looked, we all knew why. All of the Water Pokemon were in a large net.

"Inteleon, no!" I cried.

"Inteleon!" I turned and saw Inteleon beside me.

"Inteleon?" I smiled. "Awesome! You didn't get caught!"

"Inteleon!" I heard a scream and gasped. Was that Jacquelyn?

"No!" Jacquelyn screamed. "My dear sweet star!"

"Who would do something so terrible?" Daisy wanted to know. She and her sisters had run up near us.

"How utterly vile and wicked!" Lily added.

"So cruel!" Violet put in. "Those poor Pokemon!" I then was determined.

"Don't worry, Jacquelyn." I told her. "I promise, whoever netted all of these Pokemon and your Inteleon will not get away with this."

"Inteleon!" My Inteleon agreed, also mad.

Then, a bunch of people in black outfits also jumped in from the windows. All of them with red 'Rs' in the center of the uniforms. Team Rocket? Were those no good red and blue haired people with them with the talking Meowth? I thought they'll be tormenting Ash and Pikachu. Have they given up because they were so terrible at their jobs and joined up with these crooks?

Someone then approached. It was a lady with purple hair and glasses. Wait, she was familiar. Do I know her?

"Sorry to interrupt your little competition." She spoke. "Oh, who am I kidding? I'm not sorry. We are here to steal your Pokemon."
