Turns out living in another world was not as hard as most people thought especially if you were experienced already and for Jaune who spent the majority of his lifetime in a land that felt like it was a fever dream between a hormonal teenager chasing dreams of something that was never meant to be or perhaps overdosing on a new drug that they found in the school bathroom, it was something he was used to.
Regardless there are certain steps one must take if found in an unfamiliar environment.
1. Look for civilization.
2. Find shelter
3. Rest for a while.
These three steps were the most important and any decisions made were to be done after accomplishing all the steps.
So looking back at it, they were all relieved that they ended up in a place like Mondstadt first.
The 4 of them woke up under the large oak tree near a stream.
In front of them was a statue of an androgynous being holding a ball between their hands and having two wings on either side of them which gave off a mythical feeling that whoever they were, they were not any random winged faunus.
It also seemed like it was a statue of worship.
The air felt cool and relaxing. Crystal butterflies were flying nearby and there were a couple of ducks swimming close by.
In other words, this place felt like paradise.
So much so, Jaune was positive that there was some kind of peaceful music playing in the background.
Then Ruby pointed out the bard sitting on the top branches of tree just calmly strolling the strings of the lyre on his hand.
It seemed that they didn't need to call on him as he came down to them using a small gust of wind that surrounded his body.
The power shocked all of them but they more or less figured out that it was what was considered as the substitute for semblances or powers in this world.
Thankfully, the bard was a great composer and because of him, the newcomers had entered Mondstadt easily on their first day.
Unfortunately, for Jaune, good things do not always last.
...
"Ad Astra Abyssosque ! Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild." came a well practiced and yet well mannered voice.
"Hey Katheryne, we're back and we completed all the commissions here. All 4 of them." Ruby greeted the receptionist and then proceeded to bring out the evidence from her adventure bag.
Weiss was busy trying to wipe off all the remaining dust from her outfit whereas Jess was being carried on Jaune's back.
For some reason she arrived to the world in her younger form and therefore she couldn't handle all the power coursing within her.
Meanwhile the adventurers were watching on this newcomers with rising interest.
Even the citizens of Mondstadt were talking about them.
"Hello there, Ruby. Are you and your team all right ?" A young shopkeeper came to ask them.
"Oh yea, no need to worry Marjorie. Thanks to our refreshments as well as Jaune here, we're all ok. We even managed to wipe out 2 hilichurl camps nearby so you don't need to worry."
"No no no, it's fine. It's just that newcomers especially new adventurers should at least travel around and check out the sights every once in a while. While we do appreciate you all for looking out for us, you don't need to work so hard. All of you. In fact the next time you come to my shop, I'll give you a discount."
"Woah, I can't believe I made it this time, you guys are the new adventurers !" A new voice called out and as the Trauma Trio of Remnant turned, they met the Unlucky one of Tevyat.
"Ooops sorry, I didn't introduce myself. The name's Bennett, leader of Bennett's adventure team." He raised a thumbs up and flashed a smile.
Jaune and Weiss smiled at his optimism, it gave a glimpse of someone they cared for a lot.
Ruby got hit with a sudden case of deja vu when she saw him and in that instance, her mind began conjuring images of her younger self during her Beacon days.
It made her cringe.
Thankfully Bennett did not notice but he looked to all of them and noticed Jess unconscious on Jaune's back.
"Oh no, is she ?" he began to frown.
"Oh no no. She's just tired. Taking a rest is all." Weiss assured him.
"Well I'm Ruby Rose. This," she pointed to Weiss, " is Weiss Schnee, my partner. The tall blonde with white streaks is Jaune and the brunette with green streaks is Jessica. Also Jaune is my future husband !"
She chirped the last one out loud.
"No, he isn't," Weiss quickly shouted, "None of us are married."
"Just ignore the last one."
"Uhhh... ok ?"
So far, the gang had met with a local adventurer who seemed very young. Covered with scrathes and scars, even a bandaid on his nose yet the kid smiling at them gave them some respite from the last commission.
For some reason though, Katheryne's smile seem to be rather tense.
"Ad Astra Abyssosque Bennett and good evening. I see that you are ready ?"
"Yep ready for adventuring."
"And you do know that there must at least be three members in a group, yes."
"Yep. This time the Prinzessin der Verurteilung and Oz are with me. Razor too. It's going to be a full team this time."
He looked proud while Katheryne nodded her head and then gave him a list of commissions to do.
"Well then, here is a list of commissions to do around Mondstadt. If you manage to finish them all return back here to get your payment. If you manage to finish any one of them still return and your payment will be ready."
The young teen just gave his usual smile.
"Don't worry. This time, I'll make sure to complete all."
The newcomers nearby had heard of their discussion and yet could not stop but think about the name uttered by the young boy.
"I heard that right ?" Weiss asked the two.
"Yep." Ruby replied.
Jaune nodded.
"It might not even be the same person or it could just be an international name like Jean." Weiss tried to reason.
"Again my name is Jaune. Some people call me Jean for some reason even thought one of my sisters is named that."
"Really, your parents name you Jaune and your sister Jean. Did they name anyone else Joan or Joanna ?" Ruby turned to question him.
"Well not really, cause it didn't fit with the whole color naming scheme."
"Ugh you guys, that's not what we were discussing about." Weiss placed her hand on her face.
Then she just gave a chuckle.
"Dolts. The both of you."
The two dolts just looked at her and smirked.
"Well, if we aren't dolts then we're not Ruby and Jaune, are we ?"
"Hmmmm. I guess not." Weiss placed a finger on her chin as if to think.
"Hey guys, great to see you. Look this is..." the boy from earlier was meeting a girl wearing some kind of purple leotard with tailcoats and purple bow tie whose fashion seemed to match with a certain red reaper.
"Why are you two staring at me like that?" Ruby looked at Jaune and Weiss who kept quiet for some reason.
"Look these are the new adventurers. Prinzessin, this is Ruby, Weiss, Jaune and Jessica. Guys this is the Prinzessin der Verteilung."
The blonde girl wearing a black eyepatch on her left eye just covered it for some reason and then slightly leaned on her back as if she was posing or something and then her uncovered eye began to glow with a purple hue.
And then a raven materialized out of electricity near her and began talking.
"Behold the Prinzessin der Verteilung !"
"A talking raven made out of electricity..." Weiss was surprised.
"Well hello there, Prinzessin. Is there a shorter name we could call you." Ruby asked.
"The Prinzessin also likes to be refered as Fischl and as for me, I am her faithful servant, Oz the Night Severing Raven otherwise known as Ozvaldo Hrafnavins."
Jaune stared at the bird before muttering "Oz is a Raven.." over and over again.
Ruby looked at both her companions before looking at her new friends.
"Sorry about that. My friends are just shocked especially because we kinda know a guy with the same name as you Oz."
"Oh ?" the familiar was intrigued.
"Is it another familiar or a being summoned to accomplish a task ?"
"Eh... Kinda."
Ruby couldn't deny. The wording made it seem both their situations were similar even though it seemed to be further than the truth.
Maybe.
"Regardless, is not the splendor of the Prinzessin not glorious this faithful day. For it is the time that you, weary new adventurer shall meet the everlasting glory of the one before you, the founder and leader of the Immernachtreich. Now the Prinzessin shall shower you with the gifts from her various adventures throughout the vast plain of existence and reality. Thou shall be delighted as I, Fischl come to you in a humble form."
As the blonde girl now named Fischl continued to speak, Ruby felt a sense of deja vu remembering her meeting with Weiss and then Winter back at Beacon even though neither of them spoke so much like Fischl here did.
But the absurdity of it all as well as remembering past events continued on just as Fischl continued her speech that Ruby could not help but laugh.
And soon everyone watched as Ruby Rose began laughing out loud, peals of joy and laughter coming out of her as her face began to turn red and tears began to fall.
Rather than being upset, Fischl just looked at her along with Bennett and Oz.
"Sorry, sorry. It's not you, it's just...hahah. I feel like I...ughhh..."
She stopped laughing and tried hugging herself to calm her down.
"No need. It seems that thy have unleashed recollections of past joys and triumphs, I hope ?" Fischl raised her brow.
"Ruby, are you ok ?"
Ruby turned to look at her partner and then gave a wide smile.
"Yep. Never better."
"Umm. Guys, what are we doing ?"
The new voice that emerged belonged to the one that was carried by the giant blonde who carefully let her down.
"Oh, Jess. Meet Bennett and Fischl and Oz. Oz is the raven here. They're local adventurers and new friends."
"Oh hello."
As the meeting progressed, Ruby watched as her friends talked with one another. She looked at the sky and the surroundings she was in.
She took a deep breath of fresh air.
And she smiled.
...
Weiss landed on her bed, her head facing the ceiling.
It was hard to get accommodation at the Goth Hotel with so many foreign dignitaries still roaming around in the city, but the old man was able to give them a free room after saving his life though with discounts.
Though the room had 4 beds and was wide enough, Jaune seemed to want to sleep somewhere else so the three of them (yes including the green brunette girl) had to convince him to stay.
The poor boy stopped arguing when he knew he wasn't gonna win but even so, he should not have argued about it in the first place.
After all, after everything they've been through sharing a room seemed miniscule compared to fighting hordes of constantly resurrecting Grimm.
That and Weiss wanted to tell Jaune or at least convince him.
She never expected anything bad to happen to anyone most of all him.
But in truth, she was happy. She was glad.
That he stuck around for them. That he sacrificed time and again for them.
He wasn't even a part of their team or even someone marked by Salem but he still was there with them, all the way till the end.
Team RWBY was a family to her, one that her own failed and were now trying to become.
But Jaune.
He was a true friend.
He was the reason why they could fight.
He was one of the main reasons why other huntsmen teams decided to fight alongside them instead of being forced to.
And he was the reason why she was still living.
He was there all this time, helping out in the background while they were all out there fighting in the field.
And when they needed help. He would come into the front with them helping them with his semblance and aid.
To be fair, she was scared back at Argus when Jaune slammed Oscar on the wall.
She was scared that he didn't want join up with them.
That he would leave like Sun did.
She was scared that without him, she might really die the next time.
She place a hand on the place where she got impaled.
Who knew that one day, the heiress of the largest multinational company, the one being taught by top huntsmen and huntresses, the one with the semblance that was basically a copy of magic would easily get impaled by a spear.
Sure the enemy was a Maiden but the fact was not even her teammates could help her then.
In fact it was Jaune who was by her side till now.
So she wanted to make it right.
"Hello Weiss. The bath was so good." Ruby mewled as she came from the bathroom in fresh clothes and flopped on her bed.
"Wait, Where's –"
The front door opened.
"Guys, we're back."
"And we got takeout."
Jess lifted the bag she had in her hand.
"Looks like we got Sticky Honey Roast, a couple of Mint Jellies, Mushroom Pizza, Cream Stew as well as some other stuff."
Jaune lifted another bag in his hand.
"Sorry Ruby, they didn't have Boba but at least we got some fruity drinks."
Ruby grumbled but then shifted her expression back to normal.
"Yeah should have known there would be no Boba. Well let's eat."
They ate a hearty meal that day.
"This has been perhaps one of the best days from the past couple of weeks." Jaune muttered out loud.
He looked at his companions.
Weiss had fallen asleep. It seemed that she had spent nearly all of her energy during the entire day.
Jess was reading some books she had gotten from the Library.
As for Ruby, she was in the balcony, watching the stars.
Jaune silently laughed at himself, earlier he was scared that he might be alone this time and it would all be a dream.
Sure he would have felt more comfortable if it was his own team but right now it didn't matter.
Ruby, Weiss and Jess.
He fought alongside with the two of them countless times and the latter he had a deep personal understanding with.
He trusted them and they trusted him.
Life was good.
...
Wait, what were they supposed to do again ?
No, they came here from Remnant not to fight monsters but for some other reason.
Jaune felt his older self screaming in his head for forgetting the mission in the first place.
They were supposed to help a traveler.
And instead for the past three weeks all they did was just go on commissions on the daily, doing the same thing over and over again.
This was madness.
This was the definition of insanity.
And yet they were stuck doing the same dumbass thing.
Jaune mentally noted that this time, they would ask questions about the traveler.
And still see if they were alive.
