Chapter 9: A Noble Cause

Ash, May, Akari, and Kenny walked into Kamado's office, where two people they hadn't seen before were there as well. One was a blonde haired woman in a red dress, while the other was a blue haired man in a blue outfit. Both of them seemed to be in a heated debate, while Kamado had his head in his hands trying to block out their squabble.

"Three of my people were injured last night! THREE! All because her warden can't keep that Sinnoh-damned Kleavor under control."

"Maybe if your people wouldn't disrupt his territory, they wouldn't wind up like that!"

"That's bullshit, and you know it! If I were you, I'd look for a new warden!"

"Are you saying Lian's incompetent?"

"He's certainly not the most competent!"

"You know, for all your talk about time, you certainly are quick to jump to conclusions!"

"And for all your belief in space, you certainly aren't very content with what's given to you!"

"ENOUGH!"

Kamado slammed his hands onto his desk, finally snapping the two out of their fight.

"Honestly, you two are supposed to be the leaders of your tribes, yet you come into my office fighting like children!"

"He started it!"

"No, she did!"

"I don't care! You came here seeking our help, but if this is how you're going to behave, then you can forget it."

This got his guests to stop, though it didn't stop them from glaring at each other.

"Now Irida, while Adaman has been a bit blunt, he is correct in that Kleavor poses a threat in his current state."

"I know, but I don't know what could've caused it! Ever since that storm, he's been out of control."

"I'm not blaming you or Lian," Kamado assured her. "But this situation has gotten out of hand. In this case, all three of us will need to work together to calm him before anyone else can get hurt."

Irida sighed, and nodded.

"So what do we do?"

"I've already requested for my top researchers to come in. They recently managed to calm not one, but two Nobles just yesterday, and I assure you will be more than up to the task."

"Commander Kamado?"

"Ah, and here they are now. Adaman, Irida, this is Akari, Kenny, and the crowned Prince and Princess of the Hoenn region, Prince Ash and Princess May."

The two leaders shook the four's hands, even bowing to Ash and May.

"It's a pleasure to meet all of you. Kamado was just telling us about your accomplishments."

"Thank you. Are you the leaders of the Diamond and Pearl Clans we've heard so much about?"

"Indeed. I'm Irida, the leader of The Pearl Clan, and unfortunately the reason why we're both here today."

"And I'm Adaman, leader of The Diamond Clan. Ordinarily I would try to avoid both The Galaxy Team and the Pearl Clan, but lately things have gotten out of hand."

"What's the problem?" Kenny asked. With a long sigh, Irida began to explain.

"A few days ago, our Lord of the Woods, Kleavor, entered into a frenzied state. His Warden Liam tried to quell him, but anything he tried was a momentary fix at best, and he broke out."

"And several members of my clan have been attacked," Adaman butted in, but a quick glare from Kamado shut him up so that Irida could continue.

"We knew The Galaxy Team was better at Pokemon battling than us, so we came to Kamado to ask for his help."

"I'm sorry, but what's a Kleavor?" Ash interrupted. "I've never heard of that Pokemon before."

"And Lord of the Woods?" May added.

"Right, I suppose it'll help if you have the full story," Adaman nodded. "To make a very long story short, Kleavor is an evolution of Scyther only found in Hisui, so it's understandable that you wouldn't have heard of it."

"And Lord Kleavor is a very special Pokemon. One of the descendants of the great hero of Hisui's companions, and entrusted by Lord Sinnoh to watch over Hisui and keep its inhabitants safe. He's very powerful, but also extremely dangerous. Lian is usually the only one who can keep his rage in check, until now."

"Yes, and if we can't quell it, then all of us will be in grave danger, I fear," Kamado finished. "It's up to you, of course, but there isn't anyone else that I would entrust with this mission."

The four research assistants glanced at each other, silently agreeing on their stance before speaking.

"I'm in."

"Me too. Hisui is all of our home's, and thus this is a situation that requires all of us to solve."

"Hisui may not be my home, but I know what it's like for an out of control Pokemon to threaten it. I'm in."

"Wherever May goes, I go, so you can count on me!"

Irida smiled.

"Thank you, that means a lot."

"And for what it's worth," Adaman interrupted, "I'll do as much as I can to help as well. I may not like you, but they're right that this is a threat to all of us."

Irida nodded.

"I'll fetch Lian. He said he might have an idea that'll work."

"And I'll talk to Mai. That Wyrdeer of hers roams that area a lot, maybe she can convince him to help."

"Good," Kamado nodded. "You'll all meet up in Laventon's office once the arrangements have been made."

Adaman and Irida got up and left, leaving the four researchers and Kamado alone. With a weary sigh, Kamado slid back into his chair.

"I thought they'd never leave."

"They're spirited, aren't they?" Akari chuckled.

"You have no idea," Kenny replied. "Somehow, this is one of their quieter arguments."

"Why do they hate eachother so much, though?" Ash inquired.

"A difference in religion," Kamado answered. "They both worship a god named Sinnoh, but they can't agree on what he rules over. Irida and The Pearl Clan believe he rules over space, while Adaman and The Diamond Clan believe he rules over time. If I were you, I'd keep any talk about it out of your interactions with them. The last thing any of us need is to start another war."

"We won't," they agreed.

"Good. Dismissed."

A few minutes later, Ash and May were in their house, getting ready for their next task.

"Never a dull moment around here, is there?" May asked. "Just yesterday we had to put up with an Alpha Pokemon, now we're off to quell a Pokemon we've never heard of before."

"Yeah."

Sensing something was troubling her husband, May slipped her arms around him in a gentle hug.

"What's wrong, honey?"

"I was thinking about what Kamado was telling us, about their Lord Sinnoh."

"Yeah?"

"Space and time. Sound familiar?"

May nodded.

"Arceus."

Ash nodded.

"I mean, he sent me back in time, AND across space, so maybe…"

"You think their Lord Sinnohs are one in the same?"

Ash shrugged.

"Maybe, or maybe there's more to it. All I know is that our quest just got more interesting."
