Lily's heart raced as she tore open the letter addressed in emerald green ink, its elegant script dancing across the parchment. The excitement bubbled within her as she read the words confirming her acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"I got my letter!" she exclaimed, rushing to find Severus, who had been a steadfast friend through many of her early magical experiences. He smiled knowingly, having sensed the news before she had even read the letter.
"You see, I told you," he said with a small grin, "Congratulations, Lily."

Petunia watched as her parents cautiously examined the letter, their expressions shifting between disbelief and apprehension. It was an ordinary morning until the letter arrived, bearing the seal of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Petunia's father, Harold, rubbed his temples, struggling to make sense of the situation.
"What does this mean?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern. Petunia's mother, Violet, scanned the letter again, her hand trembling slightly.
"It means Lily... she's... she's a witch," Violet murmured, her eyes flickering to Petunia, who stood in the corner, wide-eyed and silent.
"A witch?" Harold repeated, the word sounding foreign and unsettling. "But how can that be?"
Petunia felt a knot tighten in her stomach. This was the confirmation of something she had feared for some time – that Lily was different, apart from them in a way she couldn't understand.
"We should have known," Violet said softly, more to herself than anyone else. "The strange things... the unexplainable..."
Harold shook his head, his brows furrowing deeply. "What are we going to do?"
Petunia's silence stretched, her thoughts swirling with confusion, fear, and a tinge of jealousy. Lily's acceptance into Hogwarts meant a world Petunia couldn't enter, where her sister would learn things beyond their comprehension.
"We... we'll talk to her," Violet decided finally, folding the letter carefully. "We have to understand what this means for her."
Petunia glanced away, unable to voice the turmoil within her. The letter had changed everything, thrusting them into a world of magic that was as bewildering as unsettling.
Lily Evans clutched her new school supplies tightly as she boarded the Hogwarts Express for the first time. Her heart raced with excitement and nerves. She glanced back to wave goodbye to her family, her parents smiling warmly and waving enthusiastically. Petunia, however, stood apart, her expression closed off and distant.
Lily felt a pang of sadness mixed with her excitement. She loved her sister dearly, but Petunia had been acting differently since the letter from Hogwarts arrived. The jealousy and resentment were almost palpable, and it hurt Lily deeply.
As the train pulled away, she found a compartment and sat down, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. Severus Snape, her childhood friend, joined her soon after, his dark eyes twinkling with anticipation.
"Are you okay, Lily?" Severus asked, noticing her troubled expression.
Lily forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm just going to miss my family, especially Tuney."
Severus sneered slightly. "She'll come around. It's a big change for everyone. But really, who needs her approval? She doesn't understand us."
