Hermione POV

Chapter 1: apple

I wasn't early to charms. It wasn't usual I felt off about off about it. Its three minutes until class starts that was definitely wrong. My weird premonition still hadn't abated by the time the bell rang. Flitwick want there yet. Even more unusual. I was starting to panic when Draco slid into the chair next to me. That was scary. He wasn't in this class… Right? All the sudden I felt faint. The panic had reached up from my stomach and was clawing its way up my throat. I couldn't do it. I wasn't I the brightness witch of this our age couldn't I handle a little bump in my schedule. A little voice in my head starting telling me how I couldn't be the brightest witch of our age if I had muggle parents and that the best witch wouldn't have missed that question on the test in transfiguration last week. The walls were closing in. I started shaking. Then I felt him watching. I started putting my books in my bag, getting ready to stand. I needed to get out of there. Two seconds away from standing a green apple was placed on my desk. I looked up at the classmate that put it there prepared to make a smart comment at Ron or harry. Draco stared at me dead on -was there worry in his gaze- with bemusement wandering across his features.

"Granger, honestly are you too good for charms? I guess it makes sense why Flitwicks instructions want me to put a teacher's apple on my desk this beautiful pristine desk of a bookworm."

Why didn't he call me mudblood?! Why is he in my class? I decide that it didn't deem a response and stared at him unblinkingly.

"It is honestly interesting that none of the charm's classes are good enough form me. So, Flitwick decided to set me up with the brightest witch of our age." He leaned closer, quieting his deep voice. "I can't blow this otherwise my father might notice and who wouldn't want to hang out with Hermione granger."

Did he just call me by my actual name? What does that mean? Also how did he answer a question not yet out of my mouth?

"Look I made Granger speechless! So, tell me about the books you've read recently. I am going to have to place a bet that at least half of them are smut."

"Malfoy!" The panic was starting to disparate no longer the fierce beast tearing at my throat.

"Granger." He gave me a playful look that told I better start speaking. "Well, I am rereading Hogwarts a history for maybe the eleventh time." I scrunched up my nose trying to count. "Well actually it was fifteen. And no smut is trashy reading that doesn't expand your brain, and nobody should be reading it."

I am a lying liar who lies a lot. I hope he doesn't notice. I know I am a terrible liar my face gets red, and my eyes start drifting. As I was thinking that I realized I had started drifting my gaze to my hands, so I snapped it back to Draco's grey eyes which were looking at my nose. I heard him mutter so faintly under his breath I was tempted to believe I half imaged it "I love when your nose does that"'. My face the only thing I had been able to control was set aflame destroying any progress I had been making. His eyes were on mine in seconds looking a little abashed.

I whispered in embarrassment "Why did you ask me about it? You aren't really interested in my reading habits so why did you ask?"

His eyes steady and answered in a simple, plain voice, like it was obvious, obviously it was not, "Because you were very close to having a panic attack. And I needed to know what the smartest and the most beautiful person in this school is reading so…."

Flitwick chose that moment to burst into the classroom. He looks at Draco sitting next to me and looks relived. In his squeaky voice he announces "Sorry I am late. I had a run in with Peeves. Let's continue with our last lesson in making apples fly! Now chop-chop everybody."

I turn back to him, "What makes you think I was having a panic attack?"

"You were breathing rapidly and under your breath you were saying 'why are the walls closing in?' over and over again. Also I couldn't pass up a chance to try and flirt with you."

"You? Flirting with me? Wait that was flirting?"

He ducked his head, "I'm not that good." His face was so beautifully red.

"Lets just start with the lesson."

Not my best work but its ok. Please leave a review! ;)
