A/N: Took a run at an OTP
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck
Chuck was setting in the tech booth, ready for the rehearsal to begin. Tonight was the big night, the first complete run through of the play. Ellie had encouraged him to find something to do that wasn't video game related with his free time, and he had…he just hadn't told her he was running the sound and light board. He'd save that for when the show actually opened.
He had tried out for a couple of roles, and while the Director, Roan Montgomery, had loved him, Chuck was beat out for each role. Chuck did his normal shrug, said he'd be an understudy for each role and work the tech booth. A week ago, Roan joked with Chuck that he needed to know all of the lines of the play.
For the next fifteen minutes, Chuck acted out the play solo until Roan ran him off. The rest of the cast cheered Chuck on as he went back toward the booth. He didn't know why he was so proud of the fact that the female lead was one of the loudest cheers in the group.
That was a lie. He did. She was Sarah Walker, and over the last few weeks as Chuck did everything he could to help everyone in the play, he came to learn a lot about her. She was funny, witty, and smart as a whip. She was also drop dead gorgeous and miles out of Chuck's league. She and Daniel had the lead roles in the play. Why Daniel had a lead role, Chuck really wasn't sure, because Chuck thought Daniel acted lik 4.
"Charles!" Roan yelled, making Chuck pull himself out of his thoughts. Chuck looked up at the director. "Shaw is nowhere to be found, I need you to take his role."
"Got it," Chuck said, leaving the tech booth. Skip looked extremely worried, and Chuck assured Skip he could handle it. Chuck hurried up to the stage, wiping his hands on his pants, trying to get rid of the sweat.
"Now, I need you and Miss Walker to work on the big scene," Roan explained. Chuck nodded. "Action."
For the next five minutes, Chuck and Sarah preformed their scene beautifully. It was all leading up to a big kiss, and just before Chuck was to kiss her, he turned to Roan. "How was that?"
"How was that?" Roan asked. "Right up until that moment, it was excellent, but you didn't pay it off. Charles, you are supposed to kiss your co-star."
"I mean…I know, but…I'm the understudy, and I didn't want to just…" he turned to Sarah, struggling for the words. "I thought it would be rude just to kiss you."
"It is in the script," Sarah told him, amused. "Is it my breath? I made sure to brush my teeth extra today and use extra mouthwash."
"I've never known you to have bad breath and your teeth are always shining," Chuck blurted out.
"Thanks," she chirped.
"You do know how to kiss a woman, right?" Roan asked. Chuck turned to Roan.
"Of course I do, I just didn't want to take advantage of the situation," Chuck told him.
"See, he's a nice guy," Sarah added.
"I don't think you can kiss her properly," Roan continued, ignoring them both.
"I'm sure he's a fabulous kisser," Sarah argued. Roan made a high pitched laughing noise. "Chuck," she said, turning to him. "Kiss me."
"Right here, right now?" Chuck asked her.
"See, he cannot-" Roan stopped talking, because Chuck had cupped her cheeks in his hands and was kissing her. As he deepened the kiss, his right hand left her cheek and slid around her shoulders, and his left one, supported her at her back. She moved closer to him her arm wrapped around his shoulders. "Well…" Roan muttered.
Chuck slowly pulled away, leaving Sarah a little breathless. "Was that okay?" he asked. She nodded, having lost the ability to speak for the moment.
"I'm so sorry I'm late," came the voice from the back of the theater. Shaw was running down the aisle. "My car wouldn't start, the battery was dead on my phone, and it took me forever to find a ride."
"I'm gonna go fix my makeup," Sarah said to Chuck softly. "Don't leave after practice is over, I want to talk to you for a minute."
"Okay," Chuck replied, panicking a little.
"It's nothing bad, Chuck," she told him, squeezing his hand. He nodded to her and she turned and headed to the back.
"Charles, thank you," Roan told him. Chuck nodded and headed toward the tech booth. "Well done," he said softly where only Chuck could hear Roan.

"Hey," Sarah said, coming up to Chuck after practice was over. "I was wondering, would you like to go get coffee, or hot chocolate, or something?"
"Sure," Chuck chirped. "When would you like to?"
"Uh, is now a bad time?" Sarah asked. Chuck just grinned at her and nodded. "Can you give me one second?"
"Sure I need to finish up here, how about I meet out in the lobby," he offered.
"Great!" Sarah said, and squeezed his forearm. She walked toward the lobby, and the man that was standing there in the shadows. "Thanks," she said as she walked up to him.
"Did it work?" the man asked.
"Sure did," Sarah said with a grin.
"Darlin', you sure about this? I mean, he didn't ask you out, and you had to kiss him before you asked him out."
"Dad, I can't explain it," Sarah said with a shrug. "I just knew if I could get him to kiss me, a lot of his shyness would go away. How bad did you screw up Shaw's car?"
Jack snorted. "Not bad at all. If that taxi hadn't dropped someone off right beside where his car was he never would have gotten here." He saw Chuck heading toward the back. "Your boyfriend's coming."
"He's not my boyfriend," Sarah said, grinning.
"Not yet," Jack replied, kissing her forehead. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do Angel." Sarah lifted an eyebrow. "I know, I know," and with that, he left.
"Ready?" Chuck asked.
Sarah nodded. "That was my dad," she told him, slipping her arm around his. "It's really a shame you don't have the lead role."
"Oh, you think I'm that much better an actor than Shaw?" Chuck asked, grinning.
"Yeah, and a hell of a lot better kisser," she added. She had to grab him as he nearly fell. "So, you're not seeing anyone, right?" Chuck shook his head. "Good!" Sarah chirped.
A/N: Eh, wrote it in ten minutes. Hope you liked it.
