Turns out, getting Farmer Al's tractor out of the mud wasn't as hard as the PAW Patrol thought, and before they knew it, they were zooming along the road, with Lily's small black car leading the way.

Skye was super excited to be going on a mission with her greatest hero. Even Chase admitted that Skye looked very ecstatic before they left. Skye had to keep herself from telling him that she would be much happier being with him, as she didn't want him to know her feelings for him.

Skye sighed thoughtfully as she recalled it, but then had to be brought to reality again so she could fly her helicopter properly. She looked down at the churning vehicles below her; Lily's car at the front, Ryder behind her in his ATV, and behind him in a trail were Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble and Zuma, each in their personalized vehicles.

As Skye looked up again, she examined their surroundings. They were well out of range from the town of Adventure Bay and were now somewhere along the countryside, with its plains and flowers brightening up their way. As she scanned the horizon, she could make out dozens of trees at where they were going, and as they neared them, the number of trees expanded and became a forest.

Guess I'm not flying over that anytime soon, she thought, and flew her helicopter down to land it as her team and Lily came to a stop just outside the forest's borders. They all got out of their vehicles and stared at the mass of trees overshadowing them. Lily walked closer to the forest, gasping. "It's in here," she said, pointing to the road that continued through the forest. "I'm sure of it."

"Really?" asked Ryder, also walking closer to the trees.

Lily nodded and started to walk down the road she had pointed at. The others unhesitatingly followed her, awaiting the adventure they were going to have.

As they walked, Lily looked at something on her phone and kept glancing at it and then at their surroundings. Ryder walked near her and observed this and her attire. Lily was wearing a plain black short-sleeved shirt, black trousers, and, strangely, a black veil that covered most of her hair. It seemed to him a wilder wear compared to what she wore when they met her at the Lookout.

Ryder turned around, glancing at the rest behind them. The pups were all in their uniforms and had their pup packs with them as they would have on any mission. Ryder, of course, was wearing his uniform and had his pup pad with him, but it was useless to bring it out as there wasn't anything to do with it.

The team and Lily continued walking for 15 minutes or so, trudging through the rocky landscape of the forest. At one point, Skye thought about activating her wings so she could fly above them, but she then remembered about eagles and decided to stay put on the ground, even when Ryder reassured her that there were no eagles in the forest.

Later, when they reached a flat and open space, Lily suddenly stopped, causing the others to stop as well. She looked at her phone and then around her, then turned to the team. "It's somewhere here," she told them, glancing back at her phone. She turned back to the surrounding trees around, then pointed out a sloping trail that led to the mouth of a large cave. "That's where the capsule is hidden," she said.

Ryder and the pups walked over to the cave as Lily descended into it. Ryder lit the cave up with a flashlight, and they followed the archaeologist.

Lily didn't seem to mind walking around in the dark, though she appreciated Ryder for lighting their way up. They all continued, looking around for the mysterious time capsule that the Ancient Walkers had left somewhere in this very cave.

Five minutes later, Rocky suddenly noticed something and pointed it out to the rest. Ryder shone his flashlight onto the place Rocky had pointed, and they saw a small cave painting of a circle with unclear pictures and, in the middle, what looked like a letter but was two; the letters A and W intertwined.

Lily gasped with delight when she saw the symbol. "We're getting closer," she said to the rest. "I know it."

Marshall edged closer to the painting. "Is that... the time capsule?" he asked, frowning at the pictures in the circle, trying to see what they were.

Lily nodded. "Let's move on," she said, and they left the painting and continued through the cave, though Chase, who was up at the front, noticed Marshall taking a double take on the strange circle before joining them as they pursued their mission.

After a while, the team and Lily stumbled across two tunnels, each leading in different directions. After a brief discussion, it was decided that Ryder, Chase, Rocky, and Marshall would go left, and Lily, Skye, Zuma, and Rubble would go right. However, a certain pup wasn't exactly happy with their decisions.

"Why can't Skye come with us, Ryder?" asked Chase.

Ryder raised an eyebrow. "Do you want her to come to us?"

"N - no," said Chase hastily. "I just want to make sure she'll be okay."

"Aww," said Skye. "Is that true, Chase?"

"Uh... kind of?" replied Chase awkwardly, feeling himself turn red.

"That's very sweet of you, Chase, but I'd like to go with Lily," she said, looking up at the young woman. "It isn't every day you get to go have an adventure with your favourite celebrity."

"Favourite celebrity?" repeated Lily.

Now it was Skye's turn to blush. "D - did I say that?" she asked.

Lily just smiled. "Let's hurry," she said, turning on the flashlight Ryder had given her. "We've still got a long way to go, I think."

"I agree," said Ryder. "Come on, pups." He walked into the left tunnel, and Rocky and Marshall immediately followed. Chase stayed back for a moment to talk with Skye.

"Hey, Skye," he began.

"What is it, Chase?" asked Skye, who stayed back for a while too as Lily, Zuma, and Rubble went into the right tunnel.

"B - be careful," Chase managed to say. "The tunnels can be a dangerous place, so I need to know you'll be safe."

Skye smiled. "It's alright, Chase," she said. "I'll be fine."

Chase smiled as well. "If anything happens, call me, alright?"

Skye nodded, and Chase became satisfied. "You should probably get going," he said, gesturing to the tunnel beside her.

"You too," said Skye.

"See you on the other side?"

"If there is one," Skye smirked. They both laughed and went through their respective tunnels.

In the left tunnel, Ryder, Rocky, and Marshall walked on as Ryder guided the way with his flashlight. A moment later, Rocky suddenly realized that Chase wasn't with them. He stopped abruptly, and Marshall quickly noticed this.

"What's wrong, Rocky?" he asked, causing Ryder to stop and turn around to face them.

"Chase," said Rocky. "He's not here."

"I am now," Chase called from behind them, panting as he ran towards them.

"Where have you been?" asked Marshall.

"I - um, had to... do something," replied Chase slowly.

"Do what?" asked Rocky, who had a feeling he knew the answer already.

Chase looked like he was about to reply, but then shook his head and said, "That doesn't matter now. What matters is finding that time capsule. Right, Ryder?"

"Yes, Chase," said Ryder, although he too felt as though he knew why Chase had fallen back from them for a moment. Nevertheless, he went on through the tunnel, Chase following beside him. Behind them, Marshall and Rocky were talking to each other about Chase, their voices lowered so the German Shepherd couldn't hear them.

"I think Chase fell back because he was talking to Skye," said Rocky, sharing his thoughts with Marshall.

"You think?" asked Marshall.

Rocky nodded. "Didn't Chase want Skye to go with us?" he reminded the Dalmatian. "Also, I noticed them talking to each other before we left the Lookout."

"The one where Ryder had to call them three times before they responded?" inquired Marshall. Rocky nodded again.

"This leaves us with one possible explanation," said Rocky proudly. "And we both know it well."

"It's Chase being in love with Skye, isn't it?" Marshall smirked as he said it. "But what about Skye in love with Chase?"

"That's a bit difficult," said Rocky, racking his brains. "Nobody can tell if she loves him or not."

"Hmm, and if she does, she probably doesn't know that Chase is in love with her anyway."

"Yeah, or she would have asked him, wouldn't she?"

"Would she? I'm not sure that's how girls work, Rocky."

"Well, how would I know?" Rocky shrugged. "I'm not a girl."

Marshall agreed, and they stopped the conversation.

Meanwhile, in the right tunnel, Skye had just caught up to Lily, Zuma, and Rubble, who hadn't noticed her absence until she came up to them. Thankfully, Lily didn't ask her why she had stayed back for a moment, though Skye still had to dodge Zuma and Rubble's questions. While Skye was up at the front with Lily, Zuma and Rubble talked quietly to each other about what they thought about Skye falling back before.

"I think we both know the answer, right?" asked Zuma.

"She stayed back because she saw some delicious pup treats back in the cave?" replied Rubble.

"What? No!" said Zuma, surprised Rubble couldn't figure it out. "She stayed back because she was talking to Chase."

"Chase?" repeated Rubble. "Are you sure? I mean, we all know that Chase is in love with Skye," he added. "But we don't know if she is in love with him."

"Yeah, that's true..." admitted Zuma, glancing at Skye.

"Maybe we just need to ask her?" suggested Rubble.

Zuma's eyes widened. "Dude, are you serious?!" he asked Rubble. "I'm not sure that's how girls work."

"Well, how would I know? I'm not a girl."

While they continued conversing, Lily and Skye were happily talking to each other, unbeknownst of what the boys were whispering behind their backs.

"This is exciting, isn't it?" asked Skye. "Going on an adventure through an unexplored cave and finding a lost artefact nobody has ever thought would exist before?"

Lily chuckled. "You seem like a very positive, um... pup," she said.

"Thank you," said Skye, appreciated by Lily's remark. She hesitated before asking her, "So, how did it feel like when you made that huge discovery in France? The one that made you worldwide famous?"

Lily's smile faded, and she sighed. "It's... it's sort of amazing. Kind of."

"Kind of?"

Lily tried to get the words out. "I guess... I don't know. It is good that I proved my theories to the world: that there is a lost advanced civilization and many people have been ignoring the fact of its existence. It's just... I suppose... I don't like being known."

Skye was confused. "Why don't you like it? Almost everybody in the world knows you, and many people would do anything to be with you."

"But that's the thing!" explained Lily. "I like to be alone more; to carry out my research by myself. Although I sometimes get occasional help, I mostly do things on my own, and I'm used to it that way. Now I've got Red Nexus interfering and these many other people, and now I just feel under pressure."

Skye saw what Lily explained to her. She looked up at the archaeologist and said, "It's okay, Lily. We all can feel like that sometimes. You just have to make sure it doesn't get to you. Don't embrace it. Do the opposite."

Lily looked down at the cockapoo and smiled. "Thank you, Skye. Your words mean a lot."

Skye beamed, but her smile and Lily's quickly faltered when they heard a rumbling sound just above them. Zuma and Rubble, who were still chatting, stopped and looked up.

"What was that?" asked Zuma.

The rumbling noise got louder, and before Lily could try to find out what was happening, the ceiling of the tunnel cracked.

Immediately, she knew what to do. "Run!" she yelled at the pups. They ran fast, but the ceiling had broken apart, and rocks were tumbling down on them. Zuma pulled Rubble aside, and Lily grabbed Skye and pushed herself forward as the avalanche fell, creating a wall that separated them.
