Chapter 4 - A new ohana
Reuben awoke in a daze feeling a slight burning sensation on his back. He gets up to check and feels small scorch marks around his back and leg.
Reuben: Well that sure healed up quick. Can't believe we made it outta there. Wait, where are we?
He looks around and notices the capsule containing Leroy's clones and Leroy laying next to him on the floor still passed out from earlier and somewhat curled up having short circuited.
Reuben: Aw, poor guy. Guess he ended up keeping his word after all.
Reuben starts to remember back when he was handcuffed in his cell, Leroy enters and the guards spot him pointing their blasters at him.
Guard: Freeze! Don't move!
Leroy growled and jumped at the wall prompting the guards to shoot following him around as he jumped from the wall towards them. He takes out one of the guards and takes his blaster while the other guard managed to hit him. Leroy turns around looking angry and shoots the other guard.
Reuben: Are you crazy? You're gonna get us in even more trouble!
Leroy: *pant* It's fine, security's distracted.
Leroy throws the blaster he picked up and covers a plasma wound near his chest that's still smoking.
Reuben: They aren't the only ones, looks like one of em managed to hit you.
Leroy: Eh, these guys ain't nothin, it's those troopers we otta be worried about. Besides, what kind of experiment would I be if I can't take out two measly guards.
Leroy picked up the keys from one of the guards and goes to take off Reuben's handcuffs.
Leroy: Akoota, let's go! We've gotta make a break for it once the coast is clear.
Reuben: Oh no, you've gotten me into enough trouble already. I want nothin to do with Hamsterviel ever again.
Leroy: Hamsterwheel's not the one breaking us out, he said he's one of our cousins. Said something about no one getting left behind.
Reuben: Hmm, that sounds familiar. Huh, gotta say, pretty cool someone besides Hamsterviel wants to break us outta here so badly.
Leroy: Ih, he even wants to free my clones, he's headed to the security room right now to shut the cameras down. Told me to meet us in the vents, so you coming or what?
Reuben: Well, looks like I ain't got much of a choice...
Reuben said as he looked over with a raised brow at the two guards on the ground.
Reuben: Sigh, if talking to you and Hamsterviel made them think I was planning to escape then there's no way they'd let me go now. And if this fails I'm gonna be locked in here forever.
Leroy: We won't fail, trust me. I promise I'll make it up to ya for having to stay here longer than you should have. Besides, you weren't planning to escape so it's their fault you're still in here.
Reuben was shocked at this realization, all this time he was still angry at Leroy and Hamsterviel for getting him into trouble but he never did what he was accused of. This angered Reuben realizing he was never given a fair trial and that Gantu never helped make a case for his innocence.
Reuben: You know what, you're right. If they still think I'm evil then I'll show em evil. Let's go cuz.
Leroy: Hehe, glad you came around. Alright looks like the cameras are offline, you still know how to climb up walls?
Reuben: Umm... I mean it's been awhile but...
Leroy takes out his extra arms and grabs Reuben's arm with one of them and carries him up and out of the cell up the ceiling towards the exit.
While Reuben was reminiscing, his stomach begins to growl.
Reuben: Ugh no, looks like it's time for more of that slop... Wait, hang on a sec!
Reuben jumps on his feet and begins running around the ship looking for the kitchen. He finds it and begins rifling through the fridge and pantry dropping a few things as he digs through them.
Reuben: Let's see here, bread, cheese, mayo... come on... nice we got some bologna, lettuce, but where's the... MUSTARD, YES!
Reuben continues gathering food and begins preparing his signature sky high stacked bologna sandwich. Once finished he tops it off with a toothpick and an olive before finally going in for a bite.
Reuben: *chews* Oh, it's been so long...
Reuben said as he smiled eating his sandwich with a tear rolling down the side of his face.
Leroy: So it's you makin all that noise, good to be out ay cuz?
Leroy said as he lightly limped his way into the kitchen with a slight grin.
Reuben: Yeah I'll say, hey thanks again Leroy. I shoulda been eatin like this months ago.
Leroy: Well you'll be eating that way from now on cuz, anyone tries to take you again they're gonna have to go through me.
Leroy says as he punches his palm
Leroy: I've spent most of my life in that prison, no way either of us is going back.
Reuben: *chews* Want one? Here, have a taste of some real food for a change.
Reuben takes a sandwich from his giant stack and hands it over to Leroy.
Leroy: Hmm, this doesn't have tomato does it?
Reuben: Heh, aw. I didn't think you'd be a picky eater Lee. Want me to cut off the crust for ya as well?
Leroy: Grrr... Naga takabah! I just don't like tomato that's all.
Leroy said as he crossed his arms and looked away.
Reuben: Well no worries, the ship doesn't have any tomatoes.
Leroy takes the sandwich and begins eating with Reuben. As he's chewing he's looking around admiring the ship then it suddenly occurs to him.
Leroy: Wait a minute, what are we doin in Hamsterviel's old ship? Didn't our cousin say we were taking a police cruiser?
Reuben: Hey yeah you're right, where is that cousin of ours anyway?
Leroy: Probably flying the ship, let's go check.
Leroy throws the rest of his sandwich into the air and it lands in his mouth as he eats the rest in one bite. He leads the way to the ship's deck as Reuben carries the rest of his sandwich following close behind him.
Meanwhile on Planet Turo, Jumba and Stitch arrive and land their ship with a group of armed UGF troopers waiting. Jumba exits his ship carrying Hamsterviel followed by Stitch, he hands him over to medical staff who take him to the medical center
Trooper: Dr. Jumba Jookiba, we have orders to escort you and Experiment 626 to the Grand Councilwoman for questioning.
Jumba gulped as his fears came true knowing he wasn't going to be let out of this so easily.
Jumba: V-very well, come 626. I am hoping this will be quick, I am needing to return to Earth to help Lilo with the other experiments.
Stitch wondered why Jumba was acting so strange, he'd never seen him so nervous before. Suddenly a wave of medical staff rush by them as another ship arrives.
Trooper: Looks like the prison ship has arrived.
Jumba and Stitch look back and see the ship open up as nurses and other medical staff rush in and carry out injured prison guards and federation troopers.
Nurse: Make way, this one is in serious condition!
Jumba sees that some of the guards uniforms are torn and scratched while others have large plasma blast markings.
Stitch: Goocha! Gantu!
Jumba looks over and sees a group of nurses and staff surrounding Gantu and mending his chest area. They rush over and the troopers falling not too far behind them.
Jumba: Where did this happen?
Gantu fading in and out of consciousness looks over at Jumba and attempts to speak
Gantu: T-the prison... We were... n-no match for him.
Stitch notices the same scratch marks on the guards he saw on Hamsterviel.
Stitch: Cousin?
Jumba: Maybe experiment 629 planned an escape
Gantu: N-no, he wasn't alone... someone broke them out...
Gantu looks over at Stitch
Gantu: Please... save Reuben for me... 626...
Nurse: Please give us some room
More nurses arrive and begin to place Gantu in a stretcher and carry him away with the others.
Stitch: Naga bootifa
Jumba: Indeed.
Trooper: Come with us, the Grand Councilwoman is waiting.
Jumba and Stitch turn around and made their way to the Grand Councilwoman's office led by the two troopers. Once they arrive the troopers open the doors to let them in. They walk in and see the Grand Councilwoman feverously pacing the floor, the troopers wait outside and slam the doors shut, startling Jumba and Stitch.
Grand Councilwoman: I want to know who's responsible for this and I want to know NOW!
The Grand Councilwoman goes over to her computer and pulls up the images Jumba took of his lab while he was calling Lilo. She places images next to those of recent ones taken inside the prison.
Grand Councilwoman: These are the same markings as the ones found inside your lab, did you have something to do with this?
Jumba: All of my experiments were accounted for during the incident in lab, it couldn't have been one of mine.
Stitch: Ih, maybe Hamsterviel made new cousin.
Grand Councilwoman: There's no way he could have made one such a short amount of time. If I find out that this is another one of your experiments, I'm placing you under arrest.
The Grand Councilwoman changes the screen to a live camera of Gantu in the emergency room.
Grand Councilwoman: I should have placed you in prison for your past crimes rather than Gantu, but Lilo was much too young to take care of the experiments alone.
Jumba watched as Gantu and other guards are being worked on, seeing the scratches on the guards and bite marks. The Grand Councilwoman shuts off the monitor and begins walking towards them.
Grand Councilwoman: If I find out you've made another genetic experiment I'll have you placed in prison for the rest of your life. I had Gantu sent some troops over to your lab to investigate prior to the attack on the prison, they should arrive there shortly. Should they find anything I expect to see you back here immediately for questioning.
The troopers outside open the doors back up and stand ready to escort the two back to their ship.
Grand Councilwoman: Now go and help Lilo secure the other experiments, we're short on staff right now so we won't be able to help you secure them.
Jumba: Not to worry, my experiments have been trained for in case something like this were to happen again. Let us be going 626, we haven't got time to lose.
Stitch: Ih!
Back at the B.R.B 9000, Leroy and Reuben arrive at the ship's deck.
Leroy: There he is.
They spot their cousin laying on the floor right next to the main controls and slowly approach.
Reuben: Looks like we're headed to Jumba's old lab, I wonder what he wants us to do there?
Leroy: Hmm, think it has anything to do with this?
Leroy points to 626's arm and sees a 4% battery life indicator flashing
Reuben: You don't think somethin bad'll happen when it hits zero do ya?
Leroy: I dunno, but I wouldn't want to find out.
Reuben: We're about to arrive, should we wake him up?
Leroy: No let him rest, I'll go in and find whatever we need to recharge our cousin's suit.
Navigation system: Now arriving at Galaxy Defense Industries.
They exit hyperspace and as they approach the lab they spot a few federation ships parked outside the lab.
Leroy: Choota!
Reuben: Sigh, Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Leroy: Grr, we should have kept some of those blasters from back at the prison, no way I can take on that many troopers on my own. Maybe we should wake him up
Reuben: I dunno, look.
Reuben points at the cousin's wrist and Leroy sees the battery is now at 3%.
Reuben: Wait, what about your clones?
Leroy grins at the idea.
Leroy: Hehe, great thinkin there cuz. I'll be back, when the coast is clear bring him into the lab.
Reuben: Gotcha!
Leroy rushes back to where him and Reuben were laying down and spots the container capsule full of red experiment pods. He opens it up and takes out four pods.
Leroy: This should do...
Back at the lab the troopers inside inspecting spot the B.R.B 9000 approaching the lab.
Trooper: Looks like Captain Gantu's here.
Trooper 2: Open up the video phone and let him know what we've found.
Suddenly the ship's video phone begins to ring and Reuben quickly cancels the call.
Trooper: He hung up? That isn't like him. Something's not right here.
Trooper 2: You three, go and see if the captain is alright.
Three troopers begin to head out towards the ship and approach it guns drawn. The door of the B.R.B begins to open but nobody steps out.
Trooper: Hello? Captain are you there?
They slowly approach and see a pair of yellowish eyes light up in the darkness of the ship.
Trooper: Come on out, we see you.
Trooper 2: What have you done with our captain?
Suddenly more eyes begin to glow open and begin to show their teeth with big smiles on their faces and some of them snickering. In a panic one of the troopers begins to reach for his radio.
Leroy: Grr, Itaka!
All five Leroys charge in for an attack and ambush the troopers laughing manically as they do while the other troopers begin firing. The Leroys swiftly take out the three guards and cut off the trooper trying to alert the others. Once the troopers are all out three of the Leroys pick up the blasters on the ground.
Radio: What was that soldier? What's going on out there?
A Leroy clone anxiously picks up the trooper's radio.
Leroy Clone: Umm... accata, everything is fine.
Trooper: Accata? Alright everyone head to the ship and proceed with caution!
A Leroy clone hands Leroy one of the federation troop blasters as the rest await their orders.
Leroy: Egalagoo, finally got my hands on one of these beauties. Alright follow me inside quick.
Leroy wraps the blaster on his back and begins climbing the outer wall of the lab while his clones follow closely behind him. Reuben watches from the ship and Leroy signals him to shut the door. A few troopers begin exiting the lab slowly approaching the ship and notice the ship's ramp starting to go back up.
Trooper: Look, the squad was taken out.
Trooper 2: Where are their blasters?
Trooper 3: Sir, I've alerted headquarters and they say Captain Gantu is on Planet Turo in critical condition.
Trooper 2: So who's in the ship?
Trooper 1: Right there in the window, it's one of the experiments from the prison.
Reuben: Uh oh
Reuben gets down and powers on the ships security system pulling up cameras from the outside and spots troopers approaching the ship.
Reuben: I hope you know what you're doing Leroy.
Back in the lab, federation troopers remain on high alert spread apart around the lab looking for anything. Suddenly a loud crash is heard and the lab's power goes out.
Trooper: What was that?
Trooper 2: Flashlights out everyone
The troopers turn on flashlights and lasers attached to their blasters and scope around looking for anything suspicious. They hear what sounds like quick tiny footprints hitting metal coming from all angles, they look around and try to find the source of the noise. One trooper looks around and catches something at the corner of his eye and shines his flashlight in that area getting only a glimpse of a Leroy's foot as it crawled up over a wall.
Trooper: Did you see that?
Trooper 2: I got a bad feeling about this
Giggling and snickering can be heard echoing around them.
Trooper 3: They're in the ventilation system, fire at will!
The troopers begin firing at the exposed ventilation shaft and they hear the footsteps louder as the Leroys scurry around, they spot one jumping from on entry to another and all fire at the same time in that direction.
Dust and smoke begin to fill the room and the troopers lasers are now more pronounced as they all aim at the now open vent shaft.
Leroy: Grr, DETAKA!
Out of nowhere all five Leroys exit the vents and begin attacking the troopers in the fog as they shoot aimlessly around them and shots being fired back at them.
Other troopers in the lab hear the blasts and explosions and begin rushing over and the Leroys all now having blasters begin attacking in waves at all the troopers in the lab. The real Leroy can be seen headed towards the main lab dual wielding two large blasters using all four of his arms.
Radio: We need back up, everyone back to the lab qui... static
Outside Trooper: Alright let's go! You two, get in the ships and begin firing at the B.R.B 9000, the rest of us will head inside!
Two troopers begin to make their way to their ships, Reuben peeks his head out of the windshield again and sees them headed towards their ships.
Reuben: Oh boy, this won't end well
626: O-okie taka cousin, this is a battleship. If they try you can take them out easy with the ship's blasters.
626 begins to get up but is still worn out from the fight in the prison.
Reuben: Oh good, you're awake. Here you get in the pilot seat and get the guns ready.
626: Meega saving battery life, if I move too much it'll use up the last of the suit's power.
Reuben began to panic, he never thought he'd have to actually shoot anyone, he looks outside and sees the troopers have made it to their ship.
Reuben: Come on Leroy, where are you...
The ships begin taking off and start to get into position.
Trooper intercom: You have 10 seconds to exit the vehicle or we will shoot!
In an anxious panic Reuben jumps into the captain's chair and gets the guns ready.
Reuben: ((Aw man aw man, why'd it have to be me. I don't want to hurt anyone...))
As Reuben readies the ship's weapon system, a large blaster opens up in front of the ship and he slowly reaches for the gun controls, his hand shaking a bit as he starts aiming at the ships. Just then, a volley of blasts start shooting towards the trooper's ships from the lab. Reuben sees all five Leroys firing at the ships taking one out while the other ship turns towards the Leroys.
Leroy: Hahahaha, UGF nala kweesta!
The other ship gets taken out and Reuben has a sigh of relief. 626 notices this about Reuben but says nothing.
Reuben: Alright, *pant*, looks like that's all of them. Come on, let's get you to the lab.
626 looks at his wrist and sees his suit is at 2% battery. Reuben opens the ship's door once more and carries 626 over to the lab in a haste. Leroy clones approach the ship and take 626 off of Reuben's hands who's panting and catches his breath before falling over on his back.
Reuben: Boy, *pant*, I sure could use a sandwich right about now...
Leroy clones take 626 over to the main lab where Leroy is waiting holding the cable that's normally attached to the fusion chamber.
Leroy: Bring him over quick
The Leroys place 626 next to Leroy, 626 points at his back where there's an opening for the cord to be plugged into the suit. Leroy plugs it in and the suit begins to glow green again but 626's eyes remain the same. A prompt on Jumba's computer shows the experiment's charge at 1% and quickly changing to 2% and slowly going up from there.
626: Takka...
Leroy: Heh, don't mention it. The least I can do for getting us out of that prison.
626 now able to move a bit more gets up and looks around the lab and back at the ship.
626: Do yugga still have the container with your clones?
Leroy: It's in the ship, why?
626: We're gonna need some help scrapping this lab and building our own inside the ship. While I'm still charging, fix up those two trooper ships and we'll take them with us.
Leroy: Hmm, I see what you're getting at, just leave it to me cuz.
Leroy smiles and turns over to his clones.
Leroy: Alright you heard em boys, let's get to work on those ships, I'll go and get us some help.
On his way back to the ship Leroy spots Reuben face up on the ground catching his breath.
Leroy: Umm, wow cuz, was he that heavy?
Reuben: Oh no, don't worry, it wasn't him. It was something much heavier.
Leroy looked confused and wasn't sure what Reuben was talking about.
Leroy: See this is what you get for eating so many sandwiches. Don't worry, we'll be out of here soon. I've got some ideas of myself for the ship.
Leroy steps inside the B.R.B and picks up the capsule holding his clones and grabs a handful. Before he activates them he looks around the ship and finds a big empty room.
Leroy: Meega likes this room. Ruben has the kitchen, our cousin will have his lab, and I'll have my workshop.
Leroy heads the nearest bathroom and fills a tub with some water and drops the handful of pods into it.
