A/N: I know I should pick one story and update it and finish it, but honestly, I love this story the best right now. Even though the statistics show that this is the least loved story I have ever done, oh well, can't win 'em all.

Thank you for reading and reviewing.

Chapter 4

I have been feeling like absolute shit for the past three days. Ever since I got to know that Callie's parents died when she was young and it's just her and her sister and niece, I don't know, something just changed inside of me. But… Callie won't even listen to me. She's insisting on being nothing more than captain and teammate. While I would have loved that before, I just, it seems wrong right now.

I did text her to explain why I was so rude to her but she has been leaving me on read, a bit harsh, but I guess I deserve that.

Just as I was about to head downstairs for breakfast, I got a call from Teddy.

"Hey Teddy-"

"Come outside now!" She said before cutting the call.

Damn it, I wasn't even dressed yet. I grabbed the first thing I could find, which was my swim hoodie, a cute pair of shorts and some shoes. I grabbed my gym bag and my school bag and made my way out. Mom always made sure that both Tim and I had extra snacks to eat if the practice ran long, guess I'll just survive on dry granola now.

I made my way out the front door and into Teddy's car. I could see that she too had not slept the whole night and to make matters worse she had huge red puffy eyes. Fuck, what happened? She had been crying all night, hadn't she?

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I asked Callie out and she turned me down."

"Oh honey, it's okay."

Teddy leaned forward and hugged me. "What is wrong with me! First Owen just wants me for sex, he doesn't want a relationship and now Callie? I thought at least she would think that I was dateable. I mean is there something that screams 'Don't date me!' Like what do I have to do for anyone to go out with me?"

"It's not you-"

"Trust me, I have heard a lot of that! 'It's not you, it's me bull crap!' I'm done!"

My heart really broke for her, but I was confused. Callie turned Tim down, then she turned Teddy down, was she already dating someone, which is why she didn't want to go out with either of them. Because I know that Tim's hot, no matter how much he annoys me, I have seen women lining up for the blonde haired blue eyed, all American boy next door aesthetic he has going on about him. Sure, all the girls want him but when they find out about me, the hotter much better looking Robbins, I have them all wrapped around my pinky. That's how Lia and I got together.

Teddy on the other hand? She is beautiful, smart and ambitious. She's fun to be around and any man or woman would be lucky to have her. So then why did Callie turn them both down?

"What happened?"

"I called Callie over to my house and we were watching a movie and I leaned in, you know to kiss her and she brushed me off."

God, why do all of my friends have to make out with Callie, first Tim and now Teddy.

"Did she say why?"

Teddy threw her hands in the air. "She said that she isn't in the right state of mind to date me. Can you believe that! Right state of mind? My ass! She could have just called me ugly and unlovable and it would have hurt less."

"Hey! You are not ugly or unlovable, the right person is just across the corner!"

"With my luck, they wouldn't want a relationship either! Can we not talk about it please!"

I sighed. "Alright, let's just head to school," I said as I put on the seat belt.

The drive to school was fast, but we were not ready for what was to come. The school day was fine, Callie didnt have lunch with us but I guess that was more to do with her rejecting Teddy and nothing to do with me or so I'd like to believe. Soon enough it was time for even practices. Both Teddy and I headed together to the pool. When the two of us entered the locker room we saw a crowd there.

Holy shit!

Someone had taped pictures of Teddy when she had almost drowned and titled it 'Seattle High's champion swimmer, fresh out of water!'

I saw the giant tears pool into her eyes as she frantically started pulling them off the lockers.

The coach whistled and called us all out.

"Who vandalized the women's locker room?" He asked. "This is the nation's best swimming institution! We do not play petty pranks like this to our own teammates, so hear me loud and clear! I want to know who did it or the whole team gets punished!"

Coach Webbed stood with his hands on his hips. "If no one tells me who did it, I will withdraw you all from the state championships that are due in six weeks!"

Mark raised his voice. "Come one coach you can't do that! We have trained so hard for-"

"Stay in your limits Sloan!"

Coach Webber looked at all of us with stern eyes while Teddy tried to stop crying. I swear to god whoever did this! I will not forgive them! She is my best friend and we are a team! This is just humiliating! This is not a prank!

Out of the corner of my eyes, I see Callie taking a step forward.

"I did it," she said.

"Torres? You?" Coach looked at her like he didn't believe it. "Why?"

"I'm tired of being the new girl around here, so I thought I could do a prank and well-"

I cut her off. "This is not a prank! This is anything but a prank! What is wrong with you!" I yelled. "One hundred laps of the pool after practice! I don't care if you get tired, if your feet stop working, you will swim a hundred laps and apologize to Teddy!"

She looked at Teddy. "I'm sorry, I just-"

"Enough!" The coach put his hand up. "This is not acceptable. Miss Torres, you will clean up the locker room after practice today, I want it squeaky clean!"

"I understand."

"And you are benched! For four weeks you are not to step into the water, you will come here, sit by the bleachers and watch everyone practice!"

I know what Callie did was wrong, but the competition was too close for her to be benched. "But coach, we need her for the relay!" I said.

"Torres should have thought about that before vandalizing school property! Now everyone get changed and started with warm ups. Torres? My office now!"

The rest of the practice went by smoothly. I caught Callie looking at me several times as I came up to get some air that or she was looking at Mark, which I highly doubt. I have a feeling, a strong gut feeling that she didn't do it. But then why would she confess to a crime and get benched. This just didn't make sense.

After practice was over and everyone had left I saw Callie come out of the changing room and she started doing laps. I watched her from a distance. Everyone had already left, then why was she following through with her punishment? I wouldn't if my captain went home.

"Are you coming Arizona? The team is going to get a burger," Teddy asked.

"No, I think I'm going to stay back."

"Leave her, she deserves to be left alone after what she did to me. She's stupid enough to actually admit it to coach in front of everyone that too."

"No Teddy, I want her to finish her punishment, I'll join you guys after she's done," I replied.

"Suit yourself." And with that, Teddy left. I'm pretty sure Callie must have heard the sound of cars leaving, but she didn't stop swimming.

She would do ten laps and ten take a break for a few seconds and then do another ten laps and so one. She didn't get out of the water even once. I admired that. If she did the crime, she was willing to do the time. But somehow this feeling that Callie didn't do it was bugging me, so I went to the changing room and put my swimsuit back on before making my way to the pool.

"I have twenty more laps to go Captain," she said as she rested on the side of the pool for a bit. I nodded and hopped in. "What are you doing?"

"I'll do the remaining twenty," I offered.

"No! I can't let you do that."

"You did eighty laps, that is literally eighty laps more than I thought you would do so let me help you out."

"It's my punishment!"

I thought about it for a while. This literally told me that Callie didn't put those pictures of Teddy in the locker room, but admitted to the crime because she didn't want the whole team to suffer because of it.

"How about you do ten and I do ten. We are a team right? We can split it. Besides, you are going to have to clean the locker room, you need the extra energy."

Callie rolled her eyes. "Fine."

With that I hopped back into the pool and started doing laps beside her. I was finished before she was, mostly because she had been swimming for a while now, so I waited for her as I grabbed a towel and dried myself off. No point in changing now when I was heading home straight away.

"Thank you," I said as I watched Callie getting out of the pool.

"For what?"

"Just cause," I said before I left the pool.

That was weird what happened with Arizona back there. One minute she hates my guts, then the next she's trying to be my friend because she thinks that I'm some lonely child whose parents died and now she just finished my punishment she herself gave me for a crime I didn't do.

I guess I'm just thinking too much.

But god! What is with the sexual tension here? Tim kissed me out of nowhere and then when I thought Teddy was being nice, she went ahead and did the same thing? Did all of them just want to get laid, is this what was happening here?

I just want to be friends, have a community, but I don't think that's happening anytime soon. After sweeping the floor of the locker room, I grabbed the mop and a bucket and started cleaning.

Four weeks suspension and an hour long speech about how the coach was going to appoint me as captain and then I went ahead and did this. How I shouldn't get too much into my head about being the national champ and that they do things differently in Seattle.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door which caused me to jump out of my skin. "Mark?"

"Mind if I help you out?" He said as he grabbed the second mop and started cleaning beside me. "Thank you for taking the fall, you didn't have too."

And just as I suspected it was Mark who did it. I could tell by the way he looked so guilty throughout the practice. "Why did you do it though?"

"Because if I hadn't then you guys would have missed the state championships."

"Still…"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm part of the team aren't I?"

"I guess."

For a moment we mopped the floor in silence, he didn't say anything and brother did I. It was actually nice. I felt like this is what I wanted. Of course, not the scrubbing part, but just hanging out with someone who didn't want to stick their tongue down my throat.

"I'm not a bad guy you know," Mark said.

"I didn't say that you were."

"But you were thinking about it."

"Honestly? I wasn't." It was the truth, I didn't know Mark so I did not judge him from what he did.

"There's this girl I like, she just started here-"

"Please! Not you too!" I interrupted.

"What? No, not you. She's a freshman and she's super smart. I asked her out a bunch of times and she said that she didn't want to go out with someone like me." Huh, is this because of a girl? Did he do this because Teddy turned him down? But Teddy is not a freshman. "I just wanted it to hurt less, you know?"

"So because she rejected you, you wanted to hurt someone else?"

Mark sighed. "I know, it sounds psychotic."

"I don't know, it sounds human."

"I just, I know I'm not crazy smart or anything, but I just- I know what I did is not right, but I wanted this feeling inside of me to stop, do you understand what I am saying?"

I nodded. "Sure, but next time a girl turns you down, maybe try not to vandalize the school property and talk to someone?"

"Like who?"

"Me?" I offered.

"Really? You want to listen to me talk about Lexie?"

"Hey, I'm literally free for the next four weeks, I got all the time in the world."

I saw Mark's expression changing. "I'm sorry about the suspension. At least let me make it up to you, by buying you dinner?" he offered.

"Sure, what about the cleaning?"

"Another dinner?"

I pretended to think. "I guess you owe me a favor Sloan!"

After we were done cleaning, Mark helped me keep the supplies back in the room before we headed outside.

"It must be rough moving to a new city all on your own?" I raised my eyebrow. "Umm, Robbins, told me about your parents."

"Well it was not Arizona's story to tell."

"Not Blondie!" I was confused. "So we call Tim 'Robbins' and Arizona 'Blondie'"

"That doesn't make sense, both of them are Robbins and both of them are blondes!"

"I guess it just stuck from elementary school," he shrugged as we walked outside. "Do you miss them?"

"What kind of question is that?" I folded my arms

"Oh no! That's not what I meant. My mom passed away from cancer and my dad drank himself to death soon after that so… I don't know, I just its so fucking annoying to hear them complain about their parents when I would literally kill to have mine."

I raised my eyebrow at him. "So you want to start some orphan club with me?"

"That not what I meant-"

I smiled. "Relax! I'm just messing with you!"

"You are so mean!" Mark punched my shoulder.

"To answer your question, I do, I miss them so much, but if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be alive right now."

"What do you mean?"

"Mom, dad and I were coming back from the grocery store and we were on this narrow bridge when a truck came from nowhere. To avoid going head on, my dad swerved the car and we went off the bridge into the river. I was pinned under the seat as the car slowly started filling up with water. When the firefighters came, they were too late. They told me that my dad and mom refused to get out until they had freed me first. I remember waking up vomiting water everywhere and-" I couldn't help but tear up at that memory. My parents were truly my heroes.

Mark hugged me. "That just makes you more impressive, you know. If it would have been me, I would have been shit scared of water."

"I was, for a long time. Until I decided that I wasn't going to let it bother me anymore."

"Respect." Mark fist bumped me. "Is that why you moved here?"

"That is a story for another time! And if I remember correctly, you owe me a meal and a favor!" I said as I unlocked the car and got it.

"Joe's big boy burger with extra bacon?"

"With a side of French fries and large cookies and cream milkshake!"

A/N: With this one I wanted Mark and Callie to be friends and get to know a bit more about Callie's past.

What did you think about this one? I know this was longer than the others but I wanted to cover the whole prank without leaving you guys hanging on who did it and how could Callie do it and I also wanted Mark and Callie to bond.

What do you think should happen next? I like that Arizona and Callie are a bit hot and cold. Do you want to see more fights or should we get them to start being friends? Honestly, I think it's too early for that, or what else do you guys have in your heads? Let me know!

Please review, it helps me know how the story is going!
