Hello everyone, here is the Perfect One Chapter 19. Friday the 13th was a literal horror movie but one with a happy ending. The revenant of Jason Vorhees is gone for good though the team is kind of shook from what happened. And unfortunately for them things will only get crazier as Halloween for them has them introduced to a secret SHIELD subprogram to stop a resurrected Russian sorcerer and his plan to take over the world with a Cthulhu monster. Thankfully Will gets some help from a guy who's big, red, smokes cigars, and has a tail. Enjoy!

The Perfect One: The Midnight Suns

October 2013: Crystal Lake, New Jersey

It was 7 in the morning and Will's Aston Martin pulled up to the hotel he and the team were staying at. He woke up early and went to pick up breakfast and coffee for everyone. He picked up a few bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches and some coffee from a local café. He parked the car and opened the door to one of the rooms they were using and saw an amusing sight. There were two beds, so Jemma and Skye shared one while Ward and Fitz shared the other. They had another room so the four didn't need to crowd one room but after what happened they felt safer together. Jemma was sleeping on her side and somehow Skye ended up spooning her from behind, likely in a subconscious attempt to feel safer or perhaps in an adolescent way like hugging a doll or teddy bear while asleep. It was very cute, and Will snapped a quick photo for possible blackmail. Ward and Fitz on the other hand were the opposite. Fitz's mouth was open, so he was drooling, and Ward was snoring like a freight train. It was a good thing they were all exhausted or else they wouldn't have slept through the night. And it looked like they had tossed, turned, and pushed each other in the bed as Ward was an inch from falling over. Will snapped another photo and decided to be playful so he walked over to the door and pulled it open…then slammed it shut.

[BAM!] "GIVE ME YOUR SOULS!"

"AHH!"

Will heard three girlish screams followed by a thud. Skye and Jemma sat up on the bed, hugging each other like they were going to die, and Fitz grabbed a pillow to protect himself while Ward ended up being pushed off the bed and falling face first. Jemma and Skye were responsible for two of the screams but the third came from Fitz. The screaming soon stopped so Fitz, Simmons, Skye, and Ward could see Will double-over and holding his stomach from laughing so phone was still in hand and unknown to them he had snapped some pictures of their reactions to his scare. Yep, those were definitely keepers and he was so going to embarrass them later with them.

"Oh, god! Oh god that was too good! I'm dying!" Will wheezed out as he held his stomach and couldn't stop himself.

"Are you kidding me, Will?!" Skye threw her pillow at him.

"That was not funny!" Jemma shouted.

"What the hell?! Are you trying to give us heart attacks?!" Fitz accosted him while Ward picked his head up and leaned against the bed.

"What's going on?" Ward asked.

"Will being a jackass." Skye told him as Will wiped away a tear from laughing so hard.

"Oh, come on. It was funny." He defended himself.

"No, in fact it was not. Especially after what we just experienced." Simmons remarked.

"Oh, come on. We kicked ass last night and won against a literal demon from hell. And not just any demon but Jason Vorhees himself who has killed dozens of people over the years and kept Crystal Lake in fear of him even years later. But now? That hockey mask wearing mute of a momma's boy is rotting in hell where he belongs, permanently and we did that. So…" Will reached into one of the bags and began handing out the breakfast sandwiches to everyone. "…we, above anyone else should be rejoicing. We did what Tommy Jarvis and countless others couldn't do and now they can rest easy knowing that the world is a little safer. If that's not a reason to feel happy then I don't know what is."

"Couldn't this have waited until the later? At least until a time that has double digits in the hour." Fitz groaned, laying back down on the head and covering his face with his pillow.

"No time like the present." Will walked over, picked up the pillow and hit Fitz in the stomach with it to get him up. "Now up and at 'em. A greasy bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is exactly what you need to wake up and feel better. I'll go check on Coulson and May."

Will left their room but the second he was gone they all lay back down and went back to bed. He went to the next room and opened the door to see Coulson and May up and already getting ready. May was doing some morning Tai Chi while Coulson just got off the phone. "Morning. Breakfast?" Will offered as he placed the coffees on a table before tossing Coulson a sandwich.

Coulson unwrapped it and gave it a smell. "What is it?"

"A bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. Started every single day of freshman year in college with this…before I realized how unhealthy that was, but this is a staple for anyone growing up in Jersey or New York. Breakfast of champions." Will remarked as he unwrapped his and took a bite. Coulson decided to go with it and took a bite. It was good if not a little greasy and not his usual preferred breakfast, but it would do. "So, what's going on? What's our next mission?"

"Actually, we're on standby duty here. I spoke with Fury and after hearing what Jason Vorhees was like he wants us to linger in the area to keep an eye out for anything odd. Things like these have a habit of returning and rising from the grave, no pun intended." Coulson told him.

"Oh, he wants to make sure we don't get a sequel to Jason's little Friday the 13th, which would actually make it Saturday the 14th but I get it." Will sat down in a chair and enjoyed his breakfast sandwich. "I'm not expecting Jason Vorhees to return from the grave after we burnt his bones into ash and the containment team took it away to deal with it. And considering we saw him whittle away into dust then I'm feeling good that he's not getting a sequel but to be on the safe side maybe we could get an exorcist. Does SHIELD have exorcists on the payroll?"

"No but Fury is sending a specialist to take note of the situation and we'll proceed from there. We're here if things escalate and something happens." Coulson explained.

"So, what do we tell the rest of the team? They obviously know about the supernatural now but how much do we tell them? I mean, even I don't know everything." Will pointed out.

"We can chalk that one up to your lack of reading SHIELD files…" Coulson remarked, and Will shrugged. "…but you're right. They're not at the clearance level to know about SHIELD's dealings with the supernatural and we can't exactly wipe their memories about this. Considering this team's penchant for finding itself at the forefront of unusual and strange cases, even by SHIELD standards then Fury believes more understanding, knowledge, and training in potential supernatural threats to be necessary."

"Not really SHIELD regulation." May pointed out.

"Well, for Fury's favorites he's ok with skewing regulation and rules for good reasons. And considering I also sort of spilled the beans of vampires being a things I'm sure the others are gonna have questions." Will admitted. "But in fairness I mentioned that when we were dealing with a demon and vampires are not as scary in comparison."

"We're being given special access to the supernatural files to get the rest of the team better acquainted with what we could encounter in the future." Coulson informed him.

"All well in good but if last night was any indicator, then knowledge alone isn't enough." May said.

"I agree with May. We had that knowledge, but the problem isn't that and it's more experience. Terrorist groups, crazy Norse-based cults, advanced weapons, and even alien viruses are within our wheelhouse. Even things unknown to current science isn't out of the realm of possibility but the second we stray into the supernatural territory then we're playing a whole new game. Doesn't help that Fitz-Simmons aren't exactly open to the idea of the supernatural and if demons are real then I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that includes magic as well. Wonder how the scientists are gonna handle that one." Will remarked.

"Fair enough. I'll look into it. The Battle of New York changed things for SHIELD. We've had to deal with advanced science and alien technology. If the pattern holds then our encounter with Jason Vorhees may have opened Pandora's box." Coulson suggested.

"That'd actually make sense. The world get crazier with new threats and then we have to clean up the messes. Just another day in the glorious life of a SHIELD agent." Will quipped.

"I'll look into the possibility of our team getting more hands-on training with the supernatural but for now we progress with business as usual." Coulson said as he walked into the bathroom. "I'm heading to the Manhattan base to report in. Keep the team busy while I'm gone. May, you're in command and Will's your second."

"Copy that." May replied.

"Why is she in charge and not me? Fury put me on the BUS to watch your back remember." Will reminded him.

"I know but May will keep them on task. You're good, Will but it takes a certain degree of seriousness and maturity to command a team…which is something that you still need to work on. Not that you can't be serious when the situation arises, I've seen that firsthand and you're not immature but…" Coulson peaked his head out of the bathroom as he tried to find the right words when he saw Will raised his hand to stop him.

"I get it, I get it. And I prefer the term of laidback which has come in handy in my job, definitely in getting people to feel at ease and trust me." Will corrected him.

"And I agree which is what makes you such a good friend and someone people can trust. That is needed for being a team leader, but the others see you more as a friend then a leader. You did just prank them next door five minutes ago." Coulson added but Will could hear the bullshit in his voice the more he kept talking.

"You can cut the bullshit, Coulson, as the more you piled on just made it more unbelievable. Basically, you know that May will keep the team on duty because she scares them more. And you think that I'll do something stupid like ditch watch for a day and take the team to the beach or something." Will put it bluntly.

"He figured that out pretty quickly." May quipped, knowing that part of what Will said was true.

"Can you blame me?" Coulson pointed out.

"I'll admit…the thought crossed my mind to play hooky for a day." Will admitted. "But that's just me. I'll keep things serious until we're told otherwise."

"Thank you." Coulson replied before he finished getting ready and left for New York.

With May being in charge, she left it to Will to tell the others that they were staying in Crystal Lake for a while. She kept her usual stone-cold facial expression, but he had the feeling she dumped it on him so he would have to deal with the deluge of protests and complaints from Fitz-Simmons and Skye. Will swore he saw a smirk on the corner of her lips. Still, the team had their orders, so they were stuck in Crystal Lake. Eventually, some SHIELD supernatural specialists arrived, and they took charge of the situation. Scanning the area for any signs of unusual or remnants of demonic energy from Jason Vorhees. Will knew that Jason was gone as he was the one who killed Jason's spirit himself, but the specialists were able to confirm that there was no sign of revenant activity in the area. That did a lot to assuage Fitz-Simmons' paranoia and fear along with giving them more questions. The SHIELD supernatural specialists gave the team some information on supernatural/mystical threats that they could encounter. Everything from demons, ghosts, and curses to vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters. Granted, the list of supernatural threats made Fitz-Simmons and Skye nervous but thankfully the specialists informed them that most of the threats were all but extinct or rarely ever encountered. Things like werewolves and shapeshifters were no longer around but SHIELD kept their data on them just in case they ever encountered them for whatever reason. SHIELD's encounter with demons, ghosts, and curses was just as rare with the team's dealing with Jason Vorhees being the first actual demon encounter in years and it was nowhere near as powerful. Mostly the demon stuff they would deal with is the typical demon possession with spinning head and projectile vomit. Suffice to say that when they heard about Jason Vorhees and the chaos and death caused made them double-check the area and then triple-check it.

Curses were a rarity too, mainly relegated to pagan or voodoo rituals and usually they didn't need SHIELD's outright intervention as circumstances usually always ended badly for the caster, so they mainly played cleanup. Vampires were the only supernatural entity that SHIELD readily focused on and they had years of information and experience in dealing with them. Granted, they had a sudden resurgence that was hidden but they were back on their trail again and this time they had a viable vampirism cure. Will was nonchalant when the specialists informed the group of vampires while the others had the expected freakout, Skye and Fitz-Simmons especially. Will told the others about his past experience with vampires and hunting some of them down and working with Aegis and vampire hunters to take down the leaders of the New York sector. He had to fib some details like just saying vampire hunters instead of mentioning Blade or just mentioning barebones stuff like the warehouse nightclub bloodbath, the hospital attack on Dr. Jensen, and the infiltration into the vampire archives as everything else was on the record as being done by Aegis. Luckily the others calmed down when they were assured that the vampire population was small in the low thousands scattered back in Eastern Europe and SHIELD had numerous methods of tracking them down, eliminating them or curing them. Fitz-Simmons' scientific curiosity was intrigued by Vampirisms viral-like associations in infecting a new host and the biological changes that facilitated a normal human growing fangs and such a sensitivity to certain stimuli that it resulted in burst into flames and turning into dust. No crosses and holy water for vampires, just silver, garlic or sunlight and while vampires can be terrifying, they're a lot less threatening when you have a pistol filled with garlic extract filled silver-nitrate bullets.

While most of their job and issues they tackled were learning experiences, the supernatural was even more so as the rules were different. For vampires, not so much as that was mainly biological which Fitz-Simmons could wrap their heads around, but demons, monsters, ghosts, and curses wasn't. It was like starting from Level 1, which in a sense it was but it was valuable information that could save their butts one day.

A week later…

The team was still in Crystal Lake which had gotten a bit monotonous as everyone sort of settled into a routine. The special investigators left a few days ago and confirmed that the area was clean. No trace of any kind of residual demon energy was detected and they went over the place with a fine-tooth comb. Will, of course, knew that there was no revenant energy left behind by Jason Vorhees but couldn't exactly tell them, so he let them do their thing. He just hoped that Vorhees was the only revenant demon he would ever encounter that was that powerful but in doing so he probably jinxed himself. But hopefully they'd be better off in the future as the SHIELD supernatural specialists left behind some useful data and information to get the team better acclimated to future supernatural threats they could face.

Fitz-Simmons were usually either in the SHIELD van or in their hotel room, going over all the data from the specialists and trying to understand as best they could. The duo were the smartest people on the team, for sure, and no one doubted that, but it was kind of amusing to see them struggle with the concepts and ideas they now had to reconcile with. In a world where they dealt with alien weapons and biology along with advanced suits of armor that had the same firepower as an entire country, reconciling that with the idea of silver bullets, salt circles, holy water, demon-trapping sigils and exorcisms was strange to say the least. Ward had become a believer after everything they had seen and when he fought against Jason Vorhees. Given that he was now informed of the supernatural and seeing the kind of dangers its possessed and just how ill-equipped they were against a revenant demon, he absorbed all the information as fast as he could get it. His specialist training was kicking in as he treated this like any other training or information session. Just more to add to his growing repertoire.

Skye's reaction was more in line with how he imagined a regular person's reaction would be to learning that the supernatural was real. First started off with sheer disbelief, then amusement, then fear, and now wanted to know more. Granted, reading through the files upon files of SHIELD's supernatural database was annoying and added onto the files upon files she needed to read for her SHIELD training. She didn't want to go through the files bit by bit to read the sanitized government-style translation of supernatural events when she had someone who had actually experienced it.

"WHOA!"

[Thud]

Skye was flipped to the ground and landed with a thud on a training mat laid on some grass. She was caught off guard momentarily and a little dazed, shocked by how quickly she was thrown to the ground and how easy it was when a shadow peered over her from above.

Said shadow belonged to Will.

"That happened because you were distracted." He held out his hand and helped her back to her feet.

With them being stuck in Crystal Lake until Coulson told them they were cleared to leave everyone sort of fell into a routine and kept up with their usual work. Ward was off with May, doing a check of the town so Will volunteered to assist Skye with some training. They went to a local park and Will parked his car on the curb that was a few feet from the large tree where their bags were placed. Will placed a mat down on the grass so they didn't get dirty and to prevent any serious injuries. Will was wearing some sneakers, sweatpants, and a tight-fitted athletic shirt which showed off his defined musculature which was a result of years of training and combat. And also, the Rakyat Tatau on his left arm but that information was kind of need-to-know and few did know. Skye was wearing sneakers, yoga pants, and an athletic top as well but had a sweater on since it was cold. Fall in New Jersey was a nice time of year if a little nippy. Will was fine without one, being used to the cold considering he was raised in the state.

Skye wasn't complaining as she was very much enjoying the view she received. Ward was definitely good looking; Skye wasn't denying that but if Ward is good looking, then Will is gorgeous. She had to admit to herself that when she first met Will she completely forgot about Ward and kind of wished he was her supervising training officer. He is tall, slightly bigger then Ward body wise but not too much that it's excessive and he's got a better personality. And he's shown to have a softer side with a great deal of understanding. His cute interactions with Goose are a plus not to mention he's a millionaire so that is double points. Suffice to say that Skye's been kind of distracted during the training as seeing Will in the tight-fitting athletic shirt made her mind wander back to the time, she used those backscatter glasses to help Fitz cheat at poker. Fitz lost but Skye was greeted to a very nice view of Will in all his glory underneath his clothing. She just wished that Fitz never took back those glasses. Her little distraction resulted in her flip onto her back.

Skye groaned in discomfort as she stretched her back a bit and cracked her neck. "The key to not getting tossed aside like that is to have your weight equally distributed." Will told her.

"Seems to me like the safer plan would not be in that kind of situation." Skye remarked, rolling her shoulder a bit to ease up some of the pain and tension.

"True and I agree with that but that's more fitting if you're not in our line of work." He walked over to the bag and pulled out a dummy gun used for training. "If you're serious about being a SHIELD agent like Coulson and Ward then this is important. I found that when all else fails going back to the basics is a good idea. When guns and knives are not an option, grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are perfect methods to fall back on. Some of the best fighters in SHIELD are noted grapplers or experts in Jiu-Jitsu."

"I'm guessing you're talking about yourself?" Skye wondered, getting playful.

"Actually, I mean May." He pointed out like it should've been obvious.

"Oh, right. Agreed." Skye nodded as Will handed her the dummy gun.

"But I know a few things too and what I'm about to show you right now is one of them. This is my fallback in case I ever find myself staring at the barrel of a gun or a knife. Aim the gun at me." Will told her so Skye did. He quickly grabbed the gun and moved it down while he spun around Skye and gave her a slight elbow to the back, not full power since this was training, and then grabbed her other arm and threw her over his hip to the ground.

"Crap!" Skye hit the mat with a thud and groaned a bit as she saw Will standing over her with the gun now in his hand.

"That move is something I first learned from my dad. Move the gun away, you hit your attacker and then put him to the ground while maintaining control over the weapon. You practice this enough it'll become second nature, and then should anyone ever put a gun or knife to you then you'll know what to do." Will helped Skye back up to her feet.

"Geez, couldn't go easy on me." Skye told him.

"Best to get the bumps and bruises now instead of later." Will told her. "And it'll also help if you pay attention instead of gawking at me like I'm shirtless at the beach."

"Ugh, I'm not gawking at you. How rude. I'm offended." Skye said, acting like the offended party but Will knew better.

"Yeah, I'd buy that if your cheeks didn't have the blush." Will pointed out at seeing her face reddened.

Skye got an embarrassed look. "Ok, so I was staring a bit, but I wouldn't say gawking, there's a difference."

"Such as?" Will asked almost playfully.

"One is just looking and the other is staring with a stupid look which I didn't have." Skye explained defensively.

Will thought about her words before shrugging. "Point made. Although it's clear you find me attractive, which is actually quite flattering, I need to remind you that I'm already taken."

"I know Crystal, you told me." Skye mumbled in annoyance as Will began showing her the motions of the technique. "I'm curious but am I your type?"

Will paused in surprise at the direct question, before his eyes looked her over from top to bottom and he gave an appreciative smile. "Oh, you definitely fall into the category of my type."

Skye raised a brow while giving a teasing smile as she put a hand to her hip almost flirtingly. "Really? And what is it that you like about me?"

"Well besides the basic fact you're a beautiful young woman, your also funny, free spirited, friendly, kind of spunky and also smart. Fitz and Simmons may be the big brains of the team but you're a computer genius in a hacker kind of way." Will listed her good qualities which made her feel touched and a bit flustered.

"Do I have any similarities with Crystal?" Skye wondered if she shared any familiar traits with his girl.

"Your both good persons in your own unique ways which is the most important thing I care about most in a woman. Although the fact you also know how to have fun is another reason." Will added the last part with humor.

"Crystal doesn't do fun activities?" Skye questioned as that seemed like a turn off.

"Oh no she does." Will assured her before getting a sheepish look. "She just isn't familiar with what one does for fun. You could say she didn't get out much because she was homeschooled."

Skye blinked in curiosity. "Where did she grow up?"

"Hmm you know, I never really asked her that." Will smoothly answered which was technically true given that she had grown up in Attilan on the moon, he didn't need to know where grew up since it was obvious. Although now that he had thought about it, he didn't know her home address since he'd never been in her living quarters.

Skye looked surprised at that. "How do you not know that?"

Will shrugged. "It never came up."

"Do you even know any of her favorites?" Skye questioned.

"Of course, I do!" Will said a bit defensively. "I know her favorite color, flower, food and drink."

"What no animal?" Skye teasingly added.

"She doesn't have a specific one." Will pointed out.

"How long have you two been dating?" Skye asked in wonder.

"Skye, I'm trying to teach you something you'll find useful in the future. It would help if you tried to focus." Will warned her as he was starting to find all these questions about his relationship distracting and uncomfortable.

"Well, I won't be able to focus if I have these questions lingering in my head." Skye pointed out before giving a taunting smirk. "Come on. I won't ask any serious questions, like how your sex life with her is going."

Instantly Will stumbled while standing, a blush on his face as he looked at her incredulously while she tilted her head almost cutely. "What? I said I wouldn't ask about it."

"You are seriously starting to make me see you as a dangerous woman." Will remarked.

"I'll take that as a compliment." Skye smiled cheerfully which only seemed to cement his point. "So come on and be a pal, I'm really curious."

"You know what they say about curiosity." Will said to her as he showed her how to move the gun down and grab his wrist.

"Isn't SHIELD's whole schtick about curiosity?" Skye reminded him.

"True but nine times out of ten that curiosity is about something dangerous which ends up having bad consequences that we then have to clean up." Will countered. He showed her the movement around his back and then where to elbow but she still seemed half-focused, so he just bit the bullet. "All right, what else do you want to know?"

"How long have you two been dating?" Skye repeated.

"A year and some change." Will answered when he realized what he said and paused. "Wow, we've been dating for over a year. That's my longest relationship ever."

"Really?" Skye found that hard to believe.

"Yeah. I've dated before obviously but nothing ever too serious. The longest was about 8-9 months when I was in college. I did a year transfer to Culver University for my psychology major and that's where I met Darcy."

"Your college sweetheart?"

"I guess so." Will answered with a smirk on his face. "You know, it's funny. I ran into her recently and in a sort of déjà vu kind of thing I got hit with a flood of memories from when we were together."

"I'm guessing good memories?" Skye teased.

"Yeah, they were. Back when things were a lot simpler, and I didn't know half of what I do now. When the idea of aliens and the supernatural were relegated to movies and pop culture. God, I'm getting old which is ironic because I'm not. I'm in my 20s but I feel like I've aged two decades instead with all the crap I've been through." Will remarked.

"What's she like?" Skye wanted to know.

"Darcy?" Will paused in thought as he tried to find the right words to describe her. "Well… she's independent, certainly isn't afraid to speak her mind, plus she has this level of sarcasm and witty sense of humor that can make you pause as you take her words in. I can tell you, she was certainly unique cause when she talks you have trouble ignoring her."

Skye raised a brow. "You've tried ignoring her?"

"Oh heck no." Will denied immediately. "There was nothing about her I could ignore. It's that other people who weren't interested in what she says, still found themselves unable to ignore her. She was like one of those things you can't look away from except it's with her words rather than appearance." He got a fond smile. "Not that she was lacking in that either because I can honestly say she wasn't."

"How hot was she?" Skye wondered after hearing that last bit.

"She was and still is a looker. Kind of like a library girl mixed with a frat house girl except without all the partying?" he paused as he reconsidered his words. "Or maybe it was more like a library girl mixed with a sitcom character?" Will said a little uncertain on the details.

"On a scale of one to ten, how hot is she?" Skye asked.

"Yeah, I'm not debasing her value by giving you some rated number." Will refused to answer.

"Well nice to know you're not lacking maturity when it comes to women like most guys are." Skye remarked.

Will gave her a flat look. "Somehow I feel like that wasn't exactly a compliment."

"It's one of my gifts?" Skye smirked. "So, what happened with your college sweetheart? She caught you cheating, or you catch her cheating?" she wondered, acting sort of like a fan of a soap opera who wanted to know more.

"Skye! What kind of guy you take me for!" Will said with an unamused look. "Also, for the record she's not that kind of girl either. We were quite enjoying our time together in college."

"Sorry." She apologized.

"Anyway, time passed and eventually my year at Culver university ended and I went back to NYU. We kept it touch, she visited when she had the chance but eventually time and distance took its toll on our relationship, and we ended things. Amicably, for sure. There wasn't any bad blood but uh, that's it." He answered.

Of course, what he didn't tell her was about their last night together before they split up for good. Darcy had wanted to spend their last day together having fun. That goal was certainly accomplished as they went indoor sky diving, toured the city and even watched a game in Madison Square Garden. Of course, that all didn't compare to when at the end of the day they spend the night in bed having amazing sex. Who knew that Darcy would be into a little bit of role playing. He sure as hell didn't complain about it. It almost made him want to try salvaging their relationship, but Darcy said the whole night was about saying goodbye in the most enjoyable way possible.

"And then you met her again? Does Crystal know about this?" Skye asked, being playful for a bit, wondering if there was any kind of tension there.

"She does. I told her." Will answered. "After dealing with Quantum, I was dispatched to the UK and worked with the SHIELD team on the whole convergence thing. Darcy was the intern for Dr. Foster and Dr. Selvig. It's how I ran into her. I was as surprised to see her as she was to see me. Last time we talked she was a Poly-Sci major, not astrophysics."

"Wow, you told your current girlfriend about your ex-girlfriend?"

"Well, I had no reason to lie to her. Nothing happened and like I said Darcy and I parted ways on good terms. Besides, I don't have secrets from Crystal. We're transparent with one another." Will told her.

"So, she knows what you do? About your real job?" Skye asked and Will nodded. "Doesn't that violate some kind of SHIELD policy?"

"Probably but I've never been SHIELD's biggest rule follower. And it's not like I'm giving her government secrets or access to SHIELD technology. She just knows that I'm a SHIELD agent and my work ends up being the reason we can't see each other as much as we'd like." Will answered. "I'm not gonna lie and say that it hasn't had its challenges. We can't see each other as often as we'd like, granted she's also got some familial complexities that add on to it, but we make it work." Will said to her. "It's better that Crystal isn't a SHIELD agent as dating another agent isn't the best."

"Is it against the rules?" Skye wondered.

"No, not exactly but it can be frowned upon. The whole sleeping with a colleague thing can raise questions of misappropriation of resources or quid pro quo kind of situation. It'll make every single mission and eventual promotion, or reassignment look iffy and put you under a microscope, which in SHIELD is saying something." Will pointed out and Skye gave it some thought.

"So, my options are dating a fellow agent which isn't against any SHIELD protocol per say but I have to deal with everyone talking about it and the credibility of any future deployment or promotion that comes my way. Or I can try and date a civilian but then would have to lie about what I do. Those are my two options?" Skye asked and Will gave her a shrug.

"Welcome to SHIELD." He quipped before tossing her over his hip yet again. "Back to training."

Skye's previous training with Grant taught her the basics of self-defense and while she was better prepared than any typical person, she still had a lot to learn.

Line Break xxxxx

Late October 2013 Newark, New Jersey

It was the week of Halloween, so the cool chill of fall settled on New Jersey as a SHIELD SUV and an Aston Martin drove down a two-way road and stopped at the gates of a large white/ornate building which was in an isolated part of the county. No other building or home in the area for at least a mile. Will got out of his Aston Martin with Coulson in the passenger seat while May, Ward, Skye, and Fitz-Simmons got out of the SUV.

"This is the place?" Will asked Coulson and got a nod in response. "You're telling me that the secret SHIELD facility where we're going to learn and get first-hand experience with SHIELD's secret supernatural subdivision is here in the ass-end of New Jersey that is Newark?"

"That's a little harsh, isn't it?" Coulson said to him.

"I grew up here, Coulson. Everyone in New Jersey knows Newark is the ass-end of the state." Will inform him.

"Well, then you just answered your own question. What better place to hold a secret facility then somewhere people don't spend a lot of time." Coulson pointed out as they walked up to the gate where there was a small directory listing, intercom system and an old, rusted copper plaque that read Squeaky Clean Up Waste Management Services.

"Waste management services? Seriously? That's the weakest cover there is. Waste Management is either an intelligence front or a mob one and it's usually the latter." Will mocked.

"That's kind of presumptuous, isn't it?" Simmons asked.

"Trust me, Simmons. I grew up in Jersey. You see waste management and nine times out of ten you think mob." Will answered as Coulson walked up and pressed the intercom button. They heard the typical intercom buzz and the security cameras on the gate turned to put the entire team into clear view.

"What is it?"

"Agent Phil Coulson. My team and I are here on orders from Director Fury." Coulson stated as he and the others pulled out their badges and lifted them up towards the cameras. Skye didn't have a badge, so she lifted up the SHIELD bracelet she had to wear.

The directory buttons panel moved down to reveal a high-tech eye scanner and display screen.

"Look at the birdy."

Will was the closest to it, so he went first, putting his head into the grip as the scanner lined up and shined two bright flashes into his right eye. "Son of a bitch!" He grumbled as he rubbed his eye from the blinding light. The scanner analyzed Will's eyes and matched it to his SHIELD profile which glowed green, indicating he was clear to enter. Everyone else had to go through the process, suffering through some temporary blindness in their right eye, even Skye who Coulson had to verify for access, but the gate opened. They drove their vehicles in and parked them out front before walking into the building. The outside may have looked like crap, but the inside was practically a museum. Clean granite floor, high walls, and there was no one around. Coulson led everyone through the building until they arrived into a hall where there was one security guard standing at a desk. In front of the desk were some words in Latin. In Absentia Luci Tenebrae Vincunume. Coulson then stopped them on one part of the floor that had a gold circle with a symbol inside. Said symbol was a hand holding a sword.

"You're late, Agent Coulson. Five minutes." The guard said.

"Apologies for the delay. Traffic. Section 51." Coulson said and the man nodded.

"Watch your hands and elbows." The Guard warned them.

"Pardon?" Simmons asked.

"Watch your hands and elbows."

The floor beneath them began to sink and they soon realized they were on a platform taking them down to the lower levels of the true facility. What was up top was a fake and a protective concealment for the true SHIELD base. And it was massive. As they were lowered down, they saw floor upon floors of people working. If the Section 51 destination that Coulson said was any indicator, then it could have meant floor number.

"How long has this place been here?" Will asked.

"The base was built back in the 70s during the height of the vampire incursion SHIELD was dealing with. Back then supernatural occurrences was more common place, and this subdivision of SHIELD was the best there is in handling those kinds of threats. Welcome to the BPRD." Coulson announced as their trip ended at Level 51. The only thing present on the floor were a set a giant golden double doors.

"You think they keep the ark of the covenant in there?" Will joked only to get looks in response. "Oh, come on. That was funny."

Coulson shook his head and led the team past the doors, and they entered a massive giant library/private study. It's size and grandeur is something you'd expect to see in an old, fancy mansion but it was impressive. Clearly someone did a lot of reading, or this library was for research and given where they were everyone thought of the latter. The one odd thing about the library was that it had two large glass windows looking at a giant tank of water like you'd see in a zoo or aquarium and there were books on stands there like someone was trying to read from inside the aquarium.

"Wow…this place is amazing." Skye admitted when they heard some footsteps and outwalked someone from behind the bookshelves. He had a book in his hand and some glasses on. He was rather unassuming, about 5ft9, wearing some nice shoes, khaki pants with a blue button-up rolled up the sleeves. (1)

"Agent Coulson?"

"Mr. Russell. Good to see you again." Coulson walked over and the two shook hands. Coulson had a smile on his face as did the other guy, so they clearly knew each other.

"Good to see you too. It's been a while. Two years?" Russell asked.

"Three. Sorry I haven't kept in touch, but things got complicated." Coulson admitted and Russell shrugged.

"Don't I know it. Just glad to see you again and you brought friends with you." Russell looked over at the team. "Who do you have with you?"

"My team. We recently undertook an assignment that turned into an unforeseen supernatural event." Coulson said and Russell nodded.

"Oh, the powerful Demon Revenant. You know we were almost called to action on that until you handled it. I'm glad you did and that you're all right." Russell said to him.

"Thank you. After what happened and in preparation for anything we could encounter in the future, Fury felt it might be best if my team got more training and specialization. So, we came here." Coulson explained.

"Oh, well then you came to the right place." Russell nodded to him before looking at the team. "Pleasure to meet you all. My name is Jack Russell. Please come in and make yourselves comfortable."

"Jack, this is my team. Agents Grant Ward, Melinda May, science specialists Agents Fitz and Simmons, and a recruit in training, Skye." Coulson introduced him to his team, so he knew their names. "And Agent Will Detmer. Everyone, this is Jack Russell."

"Pleasure to meet you all. Welcome to the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense." Jack greeted them.

"The BPRD." Skye muttered as they now understood what that meant.

"SHIELD loves their acronyms." Will told her as he walked over and shook Jack's hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Jack. Let me guess…Sinaloa?

"Oaxaca. Home of the best Mezcal in the world." Jack answered in perfect Spanish.

"I know. Had a chance to taste it for myself before…things got complicated." Will replied back in Spanish.

"I imagine that complications are par for the course with SHIELD." Jack replied, going back to English so it wasn't rude to the others who didn't know Spanish. He walked over to the podiums and began turning the pages of each book there.

"Thank you, Jack."

Will turned around, expecting to see someone there but just saw the glass windows looking out into the water tank. There was no one there as he turned to the others. "Did you guys hear that?" He asked them and got nods in response, so he walked over to the tank glass. "Is someone there?"

"Yes." [Thud against the glass]

Something touched the glass from inside the tank and it moved quickly, catching Will off guard for a bit like a jump scare along with the others minus Coulson and Jack. Will then saw what swam to the tank and it was humanoid amphibious man. He was tall, wearing black swimming shorts and his skin was a light blue with darker blue stripes over his arms and chest, like certain aquatic animals had most likely as a manner for his skin to better blend in with the environment. He was humanoid with two arms and two legs, but his feet and hands were webbed, and he had large blue eyes like a frog. His nose was two small slits like a snake or other amphibious animals, and he had large gills on his neck.

"Apologies if I startled you."

"No, it's fine. The jump scare caught me off guard a bit." Will told him. His appearance didn't bother him as Will had seen plenty of far stranger things up on Attilan and now understood why the giant water tank was in the library. That's when looked at the books on the podiums and how they were in clear view of the tank. "Are you reading these?"

"Four books at once, every day so long as one of us can turn the pages." They heard and saw an elderly man walk into the library. He was likely in his 70s or 80s, wearing a nice three-piece suit, had a puffy head of white hair, glasses, and used a cane to walk.

"Professor Broom, good to see you again." Coulson walked over and shook his hand. "Everyone, meet Professor Trevor Broom, leader and founder of the BRPD."

Will walked over and shook his hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Sir. I'm Agent—"

"Agent William Alexander Detmer, Las Vegas, 1988. Birth Parents Carol Danvers and John Garrett, adopted by Howard and Maria Detmer in 1989. Alexander came from your adoptive mother's father. Youngest SHIELD agent in history with a Level-8 clearance level. Numerous citations and commendations towards bravery and excellence in the field. And you have a rather unique fear of leeches." The amphibian man listed off as he pressed his hand against the glass, showing several organic sensor nodes.

"Leeches?" Coulson asked for clarification.

"I have a bad experience at summer camp when I was nine." Will admitted. "How did it—"

"He. Not it." Dr. Broom corrected Will. "Abraham Sapien. Discovered alive in a secret chamber of St. Trinian's Foundling Hospital, Washington. His name was taken from this little inscription stuck to the side of the tank."

Dr. Broom pointed to it with his cane. "Icthyo Sapiens. April 14th, 1865." Simmons read out loud.

"The day that Abraham Lincoln died. Hence Abe Sapien." Dr. Broom said as he opened up a feed tube. Jack came over with a plug on his nose and a container holding several green colored eggs. The second the cover over the container opened up everyone covered their nose from the intense smell. "Rotten eggs. Delicacy. Abe loves them."

Broom put them in the feed tube, and they were dispensed into the tank for Abe to eat. "How did he know so much about me?" Will wondered.

"Abe is rather unique. He possesses a unique Dolphin-like frontal lobe that enables him to transmit and receive electro-psychic information tied to the organic sensor nodes on his hands in the same way that cetaceans use sonar. With them he can detect and sense things about objects, places, or individuals that others cannot. An organic form of psychometry." Dr. Broom explained. "I believe the word unique is something you will hear quite often."

"Isn't that an understatement." Jack remarked.

"So, Mr. Russell, are you an agent here at the BPRD?" Simmons asked him.

"Me? Oh, no, I'm not an agent. Furthest thing from it. Think of me as more of a…" Jack tried to find the right words for it. "…a contractor…yeah, a hunting contractor for the supernatural."

"It's ok, Jack. They're cleared to know. It's why we're here." Coulson assured him. "Mr. Russell is an accomplished monster tracker and hunter, partially due to his other half."

"Other half?" Fitz was confused to hear that.

"Is this a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde sort of situation?" Will questioned.

"Sort of. I'm a werewolf." Jack told them and there was a moment of silence as that revelation hung in the air for a bit.

"Come again." May asked.

"Jack Russell is a werewolf." Coulson told them.

"Are we talking Van Helsing Werewolf or Twilight Werewolf?" Will asked, praying that it was the former and not the latter.

"More the former mixed with George Waggner's the Wolf Man." Jack admitted.

"Wait a second. We read SHIELD's files. Werewolves don't exist anymore." Ward pointed out.

"And they're right. I'm the last one." Jack answered.

"Ho—How did this happen to you?" Skye wondered and Jack let out a deep sigh.

"It's my own fault. I got too drunk and stupid when hanging out with some friends and stumbled onto an ancient Mayan Altar in the mountains of La Malinche in Mexico. Knowing what I know now I would have never gone there but that's something I can't take back." Jack bemoaned as he put some of the books away. "I desecrated and destroyed parts of the altar. I'm not proud of that moment and the curse I got is no less then what I deserve."

"It turns out the altar Mr. Russell desecrated happened to be resting place for an ancient Mayan chieftain who was known for dealing with the Nahual." Professor Broom told them.

"That's the old Mexican legend about werewolves. Nahual which comes from the pre-Hispanic variation of the word Nuahualli or warlock. They were people who could change into wolves." Skye said and everyone looked at her in confusion. "Discovery Channel."

"Skye is correct. In desecrating that altar, I was cursed to be a werewolf. Even after putting everything back to the way, it was and trying to make amends here I am, 60 years later, still a werewolf." Jack admitted.

"60? You don't look a day over 32." Ward pointed out.

"Aging slowly is one of the only benefits of the curse. That, eating regular food, and I'm lucky I only change during a full moon or about to die. I tried killing myself years ago and all that did was make me turn." Jack admitted and everyone was shocked to learn he aged slowly and that he tried to kill himself.

"Mr. Russell kept himself isolated to keep others safe, often using his unique vulpine abilities to hunt other monsters. I then brought him here where he would be safe. He's been instrumental and he and the others have stopped many supernatural threats that would otherwise kill innocent people. And all without the rest of the world knowing." Professor Broom praised.

"You're doing a good job if most of SHIELD doesn't know about this." May admitted.

"You said others meaning more than Jack and Abe. Who else is here?" Will wondered as Professor Broom chuckled.

"As you entered the lobby, there was an inscription by the front desk. In the absence of light, darkness prevails. That is our mandate. There are things that go bump in the night, and we are the ones who bump back." Broom smiled before he led them out of the library into a walled off hallway until Professor Broom put in a code in a keypad causing the wall to rescind, revealing an even larger hallway lined with various sealed glass cases of artifacts. Jack soon rejoined them but had a large cart with various bowls of food. What looked like mashed potatoes, carrots and a lot of chicken. "1937, Hitler joins the Thule Society, a group of German aristocrats obsessed with the occult. 1938, he acquired the Spear of Longinus, which pierced the side of Christ. He who holds it become invincible. Hitler's power increases tenfold. 1943, President Roosevelt decides to fight back but given the constraints of the war he portions of a section of the Strategic Scientific Reserve as the forerunners. The Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense was born. 1950, SHIELD is officially founded from the remnants of the SSR and the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense is kept in place in the event of other supernatural occurrences. 1958, the occult war has finally come to an end with the death of Adolf Hitler."

"You mean 1945." Will corrected him. "Hitler committed suicide in 1945."

"Did he, now?" Broom chuckled as they arrived at the end of the hallway which had a giant high-tech, sturdy bank vault that looked like it could take a punch from the Incredible Hulk. "Jack, I'll leave you to handle the introductions."

"Of course, Professor." Jack nodded as Professor Broom handed Will two Baby Ruth bars. He looked at the others who shrugged and had no idea what was going on either.

"You're not coming, Professor?" Coulson asked.

"If you personally lead this team then they are more than capable of continuing on without me. Make me proud, Agent Coulson." Professor Broom told him before he walked away.

"They're not speaking at the moment. Professor Broom had him grounded." Jack explained as he led them over to the vault.

"Grounded? Who's grounded?" Skye asked as Jack took a large electronic key out from his pocket and inserted it into the lock of the bank vault door. Several cog spins later and with a quick turn of the vault handle he pulled it open to reveal another hallway.

"Come meet the rest of the family." Jack told them as he walked in but not into a vault or anything but another hallway that then led into a massive open room similar in size to the library but not a library. It was set up more like an apartment as there was couches and chairs all around with a large dinner table in the middle that was littered with cats, books, comic books, newspapers along with junk like old cans of soda and beer. There was a sink off to the side with a mirror and doors which presumably led to the bathroom. Also present in the room were several TV monitors both analog and digital with the newer ones playing video footage of a female brunette while the others played cartoons or showed the news. Off to the right side was a closed off area with walls and Will saw what looked like a bed so it was likely a bed room, but it was massive. The ceiling had been raised up several meters and the bed was large, but the odd thing was the collection of leaves, twigs, and roots littered on the ground like someone opened up a door to the outside and used a leaf blower to blow in a bunch of stuff. "Pardon for the mess but they aren't exactly ones for cleanliness. Well one of them is but he can only do so much."

[Soft growls]

Everyone was on edge as they heard what sounded like an animal but then to their astonishment saw a large green monster walk out of the large bedroom to the right side. It was humanoid with two arms and two legs, but its body was made up of moss, leaves, roots, mushrooms and other vegetation. The monster was large, easily up to 10-ft tall and was big, sort of like the Hulk but smaller. The monster had light red eyes and the one noticeable feature was the long root-like nose it had that drooped down his face similar an elephant which was flanked by two more roots on each side of his face. (2)

"You know I meant you. It's just him who's not as courteous and I'm sorry for the living arrangements but we're cramped on space as it is. You know that." Jack told the monster who let out soft growls and looked like it rolled its eyes in response. The monster then noticed they had guests in the room. "Oh, right. Ted, meet some friends of Professor Broom. SHIELD agents who came to get some more training in the supernatural. Agent Coulson, everyone meet Ted."

"Hi…" Skye muttered as she gave him a small wave and Ted waved back.

"Don't let his appearance scare you. He's just a big softy." Jack assured him as he picked up a comic book and handed it to Will. It was an old school Dark Horse Comic book from the 70s about one of their most popular characters, Hellboy. Hellboy in the Scourge of the Super-Ape, a real silver age era comic book. Will had read a few issues when he was his kid that his dad used to have lying around. "HB on the other hand, not so much."

"You can't be serious." Ward thought this was ridiculous.

"I always did hate those comic books. They never get the eyes right." They heard from the corner and there they saw Hellboy. He was in his designated corner of the living space, smoking a cigar and lifting a heavy 100-lb dumbbell with his left hand. He had boots, and a pair of black cargo pants but didn't have a shirt on so they could see just how large and built he was along with the tattoos/marks he had on his skin that were similar to runes. Hellboy was a large, tall 6ft6 muscular, red-skinned ape-like man with a tail, horns which had been filed down on his forehead into stumps and an oversized right hand made of stone.

"No way." Skye took the comic book from Will's hand and stared at it before looking at Hellboy. Her eyes went back and forth between the two as she was seeing something impossible.

"H—how? How?" Simmons asked.

"You mean to say that Hellboy, the comic book character is real?" Fitz asked.

"More like the comic book was made in response to rumors about him. It actually ended up paying off as the comic book helped mitigate rumors and investigations into his appearances over the years. When someone calls in about seeing a red-skinned man they just think you've read one too many comic books." Coulson pointed out.

"Good to see you again, Phil. Sad to see you haven't taken my advice on getting those hair implants." Hellboy joked.

"I'm happy with that I have." Coulson replied with a certain degree of familiarity, indicating that like with Jack Russell, he knew Hellboy.

"How long has he been here?" Simmons asked.

"Since 1944 which would put him in his 70s, but he doesn't age like humans do. We think reverse dog year so he's barely out of his 20s." Coulon answered.

"So, Hellboy and Ted have been here with the BPRD, fighting the supernatural all under our noses?" Will asked for clarification and got a nod from Coulson.

"Hellboy and old Man-Thing. Comic book crossover nerds could only dream about." Hellboy joked. "So, Phil…who are the newbies?"

"My team. Agents Ward and May, Fitz-Simmons, Skye, and Will Detmer. We recently had an encounter with a demonic revenant and afterward were assigned here temporarily for more first-hands experience and training." Coulson explained. Hellboy chuckled as he dropped the dumbbell which landed with a heavy thud to the ground.

"They look like they'd wet their pants at the first sight of what we deal with. You sure they can handle this?" Hellboy asked as he walked over to a shelf and grabbed his lighter, lighting his cigar. Coulson looked over at Will and motioned to the Baby Ruth candy bars he was holding.

"We can. I'm mean, sure. We had our little pants-wetting moment with an unkillable juggernaut, but we adapted. And if the BPRD is really where we're gonna get the best training then we're ready. That is if you and the others are open to showing us the ropes?" Will held up the two Baby Ruth bars, perking Hellboy's interest.

"Father's back?" Hellboy asked and Jack nodded. "He still mad?"

"Well, you did break out again." Jack pointed out.

"So, what? I wanted to see her. Nobody's business." Hellboy put the lighter away.

[Soft growls] Ted agreed with what Jack said, speaking in his own tongue that no one but Jack or Hellboy could understand.

"I wouldn't have gotten caught. I'd be fine." Hellboy remarked as he put his dumbbell away.

"Don't stare. He hates it when people stare." Jack whispered to them.

"Stare at what?" Simmons asked.

"His horns. He has them filed down. To fit in." Jack whispered as Hellboy walked over and took the two candy bars from Will when he noticed that Fitz-Simmons and Skye were staring at him.

"What you lookin' at, shorties?" Hellboy asked and they kept staring so Will subtly elbowed Skye who bumped into Fitz-Simmons, jostling them out of their stupor.

"Nothing." They replied when Will heard some footsteps next to him and saw Ted AKA Man-Thing had walked over to him. He was staring at Will with fascination, at least what he thought was fascination.

"Uh, hi." Will greeted him.

[Soft growls]

"Ted says hi as well. He smells something different about you." Jack comments and for a moment a sense of nervousness flutters across Will's stomach. Things with the supernatural were unusual so for all intents and purposes Ted could sense Will's Inhuman DNA and his powers. Coulson knew but the others didn't, and he wanted to keep that up for as long as possible. "Something sweet. Do you have candy on you?"

"Oh. Oh!" Will felt relief in his heart at that as he pulled out some pieces of James Salt Walter Taffy from Atlantic City he always kept in his pocket. "Salt Water Taffy?"

Ted nodded and plucked a piece from Will's hand before eating it. He chewed it for a bit before letting out a happy growl and nodded to Will. "He likes it." Jack translated so Hellboy walked over and grabbed a piece.

"Never was one for Taffy." Hellboy commented.

"Well, James is the best and it's something of a good luck charm for me." Will added when they heard an alarm, and the ceiling red light began flashing.

"Code Red. Warning, Code Red." A computerized voice announced.

"Hey, hey, hey. You're gonna need that good luck. Come on, champ. Let's go hunt some monsters." Hellboy pat Will in the chest with his stone hand, knocking him back a bit.

Machen Library, New York City

Coulson and his team filed in with the SHIELD teams working at the BPRD. This monster hunt was going to be their chance to observe and work with the specialists, which is exactly what they needed. The Code Red they were responding to is the code for a monster hunt, so this was a rare opportunity as monster hunts were getting rarer and rarer. The BPRD was doing its job in making sure that monsters weren't a threat. The incident was at the Machen Library in New York with several museum guards dead. SHIELD had the NYPD evacuate the museum and set up a secure perimeter, keeping civilians and the news away and in the dark.

The police kept the barricade secure as a SHIELD transport disguised as a large garbage truck moved through the perimeter towards the freight entrance of the museum. Inside said garbage truck was Hellboy, Abe Sapien, Jack Russel and Man-Thing. It had all the gear they needed for missions like this along with medical supplies, food, and was built like a tank with bulletproof one-way glass, giving Hellboy a clean view of the crowd of civilians outside.

"Look at them ugly suckers, boys. One sheet of glass between them and us." Hellboy said.

"Story of my life." Abe replied as he double-checked his breathing collar which would provide him with clean water for breathing while out in the field.

"[Sighs] Outside. I could be outside." Hellboy bemoaned as he opened the case to his gun, labeled the Good Samaritan.

"You mean outside with her." Abe corrected.

"Don't get psychic with me, Blue." Hellboy told him.

"Nothing psychic about it. You're easy." Abe remarked, testing his goggles.

[Soft Growls] Ted AKA Man-Thing was sitting in the corner, unwrapping another piece of Salt Water Taffy Will gave him and ate it. He asked Hellboy what was really going on and what had his mood in such a funk.

"Sorry HB but Liz left us. Sometimes you just got to take the hint." Jake told him as Hellboy pulled out his gun.

"We don't take hints." He remarked as he looked at his gun, the Good Samaritan. It was an oversized custom-made 22mm four-round revolver, capable of putting a custom-made bullet with immense power through pretty much anything. The gun itself was resistant to outside forms of attack forged from Irish Church bells, cold iron from crucifixes, blessed silver, and other mystic metals including a grip carved from fragments of the True Cross. In Hellboy's hand, it was a monster killer.

Coulson and the team were waiting at the freight lobby with the BPRD SHIELD team as the disguised garbage truck backed up to the entrance. Since the team arrived at the BPRD for training, tagging along on this mission was going to be excellent field experience. They were to let the BPRD team take the lead as they had more experience, but the team would assist where needed. The disguised garbage truck backed into the freight entrance and the back door opened up. The four monster hunters of the BPRD were standing there, ready and able. Hellboy and Abe were up front with the former having lit his cigar while the latter was dressed in his field gear which provided him additional protection and clean water for breathing out of his tank. Jack was behind them, wearing his regular clothes and Man-Thing behind him, just being Man-Thing.

"Ok, guys. Let's synch up our locators." The lead BPRD SHIELD agent said as he tapped the locator device on his belt which then glowed a light blue. Abe, Jack, and Hellboy activated the ones on their belts while Man-Thing's locator was attached to a band wrapped around his shoulder. It was larger, given its size and his fingers so he could activate it. Abe's was colored a dark blue, Jack's was silver, Hellboy's was a dark red and Man-Thing's was green. "Seal the doors. They're coming in."

The SHIELD Agents sealed off all the doors so no one and nothing was getting in or out without them knowing. THE SHIELD agents led the way in the museum and gave a brief overview of the situation.

"At 1900 hours, an alarm was tripped. A large entity, type five, reported. Very aggressive. Six guards dead."

"I thought we checked this place. Fakes and reproductions." Hellboy pointed out when they saw Professor Broom there with some more agents.

"Apparently, not everything was fake." Professor Broom corrected him.

Hellboy moved his left hand behind his back and crossed his fingers. "Father."

The team moved to the exhibit where the monster was still residing, having been locked in after the alarm was tripped. Some agents moved over Hellboy's weapon's container and opened it as the monster hunter began sorting through what kind of ammunition and weapons he would use.

"The entity is still in there. Video surveillance shows a 16th century statue was destroyed. St. Dionysius the Areopagite." Professor Broom explained.

"Who wards off demons." Hellboy added.

"Exactly. The statue, however, was hollow."

"A reliquary?" Hellboy asked.

"A prison. The Vatican deemed its occupant dangerous enough to include it on the List of Avignon, of which, by the way, we hold a copy." Professor Broom answered.

"Meaning what?" Will asked.

"The entity inside was so powerful and dangerous that it was kept inside a prison designed specifically for demons." Jack explained while Abe walked over to the door and removed his glove before placing his hand on the door to get a look inside.

"A demon? Oh great, is this another Jason Vorhees situation? We already dealt with one unkillable demon, and we barely survived." Simmons panicked.

"Easy, Jemma." Fitz tried to calm her down, acting all brave but he was just as freaked out as she was.

"Relax rookies. You're in the big leagues now and that demon is as good as dead. I've got just the special babies to deal with it." Hellboy held up some special 22 mm bullets for his revolver. "Made them myself. Holy water, clover leaf, silver shavings, white oak. The works."

"And you're sure that stuff will work?" Will asked and everyone nodded in response. "Well, if silver works then it's a good thing, I came prepared."

Will took out his pistol and ejected the magazine along with the round in the chamber before loading a new one from the pack he had with him.

[Gasps]

Abe backed away from the door in surprise mixed with slight fear and hesitation. "Behind this door, a dark entity. Evil, ancient, and hungry."

"Oh well. Sit back and relax, Ted. Let me go in and say hi." Hellboy loaded his revolver and walked into the exhibit. The door was closed behind him, and a line of rock salt was laid around the door.

"What's with the salt?" Skye wondered.

"It'll keep the demon from escaping this way." One of the agents replied.

"Really? Salt will do that?" Simmons asked, walking over to see if it was special salt but it just looked and felt like ordinary rock salt.

"Why?" Fitz asked.

"Salt is known as a purifying element and its used in various religions and cultures around the world to trap or expel evil spirits which includes ghosts and demons. You salt and burn the remains of a spirit and it'll be put at rest. You trap a ghost or demon in a salt circle then it can't escape, granted getting them to fall into the trap before they escape is the difficult part." Jack explained.

"So, we could have trapped Jason Vorhees in a salt circle?" Will asked for clarification and got a nod in response. "You know, I will admit that the supernatural kind of threw me for a loop but knowing that one of their weaknesses happens to be one of the most abundant chemical substances on the planet does a lot to assuage my fears. And I've already got an idea we could try. Hear me out? Shotguns shells but instead of buckshot or slugs…you use rock salt."

"Oh, that'd be fun to make. Or better yet, how about a grenade filled with rock salt?" Fitz suggested.

"Now you're speaking my language, Fitz." Will praised and the two did a high-five.

"Sorry, guys. We beat you two to it." Jack walked over to Hellboy's arsenal box and held up some shotgun shells filled with salt.

"Dammit." Will and Fitz muttered when they heard their comms buzz.

"Better break out the books on this one, brother blue. We're gonna definitely need more info on this one." Hellboy radioed so Jack grabbed a small crate and brought it over to Abe who opened it up to reveal several lore books for research on demons along with anything they could need. Skye walked over and looked at the books with interest.

"Hey, Abe. So, uh a quick question? Shouldn't one of you have gone in with Hellboy? You know, as backup?" Skye asked.

"Mm, no. He likes it that way. The whole lonely hero thing." Abe answered.

[Soft growls] Ted spoke in his own language, agreeing with him before looking at Will. Realizing what he wanted, Will reached into the pack he brought with him and took out some pieces of Salt Water Taffy.

"You know, Ted, you're really draining my supply." Will pointed out.

"Something tells me when you guys leave, we'll end up buying a lot of that taffy." Jack joked. "And like Ted said, don't worry about HB. He's even tougher then he looks and can handle himself. But if things really get serious then we can intervene and help."

Abe was looking through the books when he found a match for whatever entity they were dealing with. "Red, I found something. This entity's name is Sammael the Desolate One, Son of Nergal, brother of—"

[Bang]

Will, Coulson, and the team jumped in shock when they heard the sound of a very loud gunshot coming from inside the closed off exhibit hall.

"Well, looks like he found it." Jack remarked and Ted nodded, popping another piece of taffy in his mouth.

[Bang]

[Bang]

[Bang]

Those four shots were all they heard and no more so many were curious to know what happened. "Red, do you need to hear the rest of the information?" Abe asked him.

"Nah. He's taken care of."

"No, listen to this. Sammael, the Desolate One, Lord of the Shadows, Son of Nergal, Hound of Resurrection…"

"See, I don't like that."

"What? Hound of Resurrection? Harbinger of Pestilence? Seed of Destruction."

"Cut to the end, will you? How do I kill it?"

"Hm, doesn't say." Abe replied.

[Thud]

Everyone backed up or ducked and covered their heads as something heavy slammed into the heavy metal doors for the exhibit, causing them to bend. "Oh, that's not good." Jack admitted as the agents scrambled to make sure that all the exits were secure.

"I'm going around the back incase this thing tried to bolt." Will stated, quickly rushing away to the back exit just in case. Man-Thing and Jack nodded, following Will as he had the right idea. He ended up being right as Sammael closed the distance to Hellboy before he was fully back on his feet. Hellboy pulled out his revolver, but Sammael stood up on his hind legs and grabbed his left hand, stopping him from shooting before picking him up and throwing him into the floor. Sammael slammed him into the floor three more times before throwing him across the exhibit hall. Hellboy smashed through four glass display cases, the window and then fell four stories into a dumpster in the alley behind the museum.

He pulled himself out and fell to the ground in discomfort and pain. "Aw, crap…" he held his side and seethed in pain. He'd healed but it hurt like hell.

"Child…all grown up, I see…"

Hellboy heard a familiar human voice and saw a human figure hiding in the shadows. "That voice…"

The figure then stepped forward to reveal a man wearing a black suit, holding an old book. He had a full beard, was bald, and was wearing black sunglasses. "It was the first lullaby you ever heard, my son. I ushered you into this world. I alone know your true calling, your true name." The man said and the more he spoke the more Hellboy seemed to recognize it and was put on edge.

"Hm, name this." Hellboy picked up his revolver and aimed it at the man, but he was gone. He heard a loud thud behind him followed by growling so he quickly turned to shoot Sammael only for it to open its large maw send out its long tongue. It quickly wrapped around Hellboy's hand and arm with the tendrils at the end latching on to him. Hellboy shouted in pain as the venom/acid of the tendrils seeped out and began to burn through his skin.

[Bang-Bang]

Two bullets ripped through the tongue causing it to retract into Sammael's maw. Several more bullets hit Sammael and they burned its flesh as it screeched out and writhed in pain when Man-Thing came from the side and knocked it back with a shoulder tackle.

[Loud Growl]

Man-Thing glared at the monster as the bullet holes in its body sizzled before the bullets were slowly pushed out and they healed like they never happened. Man-Thing raised its moss-like eyebrows in surprise before Sammael lunged at him and the two monsters wrestled for dominance. Will and Jack rushed over and grabbed Hellboy, pulling him back into the museum and closing the door.

"What are you doing?" Hellboy asked as Will ejected his spent pistol magazine.

"Came to help you. You're welcome." Will told him.

"I didn't need help. I had this handled. You don't know what you're dealing with, kid." Hellboy told him only for Will to show him a pistol magazine loaded with silver bullets. "Silver?"

"I'm a quick study and it honestly looked like you could have used the help." Will pointed out as they heard a lot of growling and roaring coming from outside along with loud crashes and thuds. "Do you think he needs help?"

"Not really. Ted probably has this." Jack said as he reloaded Hellboy's revolver for him when he saw the weird writhing stinger-like leech. "Uh, red?"

"Oh, crap!" Hellboy wasn't expecting to see that when the doors were busted open by Ted's body being thrown through. Man-Thing slid on the floor and Jack rushed over to check on him. Will and Hellboy turned and saw Sammael roared in victory as parts of its body had been melted or withered like they had been burned by acid or fire and its arm was broken but it quickly popped its arm back into place and its burns healed like they never happened.

"Oh, well that's not good." Will fired all the bullets of his pistol aimed at Sammael's head and the demon hellhound roared in pain as it used its arms to protect itself. The silver bullets sizzled and burned it skins as silver was a common weakness among demons. Jack grabbed the stinger leech on Hellboy's arm and ripped it off.

"AH!" Hellboy shouted in annoyance and seethed in anger. "Piece of shit."

"Let me borrow that." Will grabbed Hellboy's revolver and braced himself before firing a bullet. Even with bracing himself, the recoil of the gun was substantial forcing his arms up over his head and he was lucky it went that way, or he would have hit himself in the face. Still, despite the large recoil Will's shot was dead on and hit the demonic hellhound in the head, blowing off part of its face and part of its arms it had used to shield itself.

[Unearthly Screeching and wailing]

Sammael's ear-piercing screeching and wailing caused them to cover their ears in pain to try and muffle the noise and even shattered all the windows in the immediate vicinity. Will toughed through the pain and saw Sammael's body slowly healing itself like it usually did so not wanting this to drag on he ran towards it, quickly loading another magazine into his pistol and shooting 8 bullets into its legs, four in each one causing it to stumble forward a bit which was exactly what Will wanted. He jumped over its head and climbed onto its back, firing the remaining 4 bullets into the back of its head causing it to buck and screech. Will took out his silver knife and stabbed it in the back, its skin sizzling like it was touched by acid due to the silver.

"Kid, get clear!" Hellboy shouted so Will quickly reached into his belt and pulled out some explosive pellets before shoving them into its still healing head.

"SHOOT IT IN THE HEAD!" Will jumped off and rolled on the ground as Hellboy aimed up and fired a bullet at its head. He hit his target but rather than just make hole, the bullet hit the explosive pellets, causing a large explosion that blasted it heads into pieces. Will covered his head and body for protection as monster chunks landed on him and the ground. He peaked his head out from under his arms to see what happened and saw Sammael's head was gone with the flesh on its neck sizzling from the explosion, its blood dripping down its body and he saw what looked like its spinal cord protruding from the flesh.

With its head blown off you'd think it'd be over but amazingly the thing was still standing up right and then to his horror he saw parts of its flesh begin to sizzle and heal. Man-Thing marched forward and roared as it grabbed Sammael's body with both of his massive arms and began burning it. This was Will's first time seeing what Man-Thing could do and it was hard to explain. Its hands glowed with a greenish aura and with how Sammael was being burned he first thought it was some kind of pyrokinetic ability but that wasn't the case as he really only saw small flames around the body being burned. And it was less like a fire burn and more like corrosive/acid burn. Still, whatever was happening was clearly working as Sammael's body was burned up. Man-Thing then smashed its body into the ground and repeatedly pummeled it with his massive hands. Man-Thing kept beating Sammael's body, ripping it in half and then pounding the remnants until it was nothing more than various burnt body parts littering the ground. Man-Thing calmed down and soon resumed his usual calm demeanor.

Will got up and walked over to one of the chunks of Sammael's body, what looked like the upper torso connected to its right arm. He saw more chunks of its body, each in smaller bits then the one in front of him with the only other piece larger then that was what remained of its legs. The two legs were still connected to its lower half, but all the dismembered pieces were burnt up with zero signs of any kind of regeneration activity. Jack walked over to Man-Thing and looked at the dead Sammael.

"Is that it?" Jack asked, so Will reloaded his pistol with a fresh magazine and fired a bullet into the torso chunk on the ground in front of him. He waited a few seconds and saw no response from the body part. No pushing the bullet out, no sizzling, and no healing.

"Looks like it." Will holstered his pistol and looked over at Ted. "Thanks for the quick save there, Ted."

[Soft growling]

Ted smiled and nodded, saying you're welcome as Will took out two more pieces of Salt Water Taffy and put one in his mouth while giving him the other. Ted happily smiled and put it in his mouth. "Well, that could have gone worse." Jack pointed out. "If it had gone over the wall then it could have run into civilians."

"It's Halloween. People would just think you guys are in costumes. Very elaborate costumes but still, plausible deniability." Will answered and Ted shrugged, finding that plausible. "Nice work, Hellboy. How're you feeling?"

They waited for a response but there wasn't one. "HB?" Jack and the others turned around and saw he was gone.

"Where'd he go?" Will asked and Ted growled, speaking to Jack who radioed to him.

"HB, you there?"

"Yeah, I'm here. Listen, uh…tell the kid thanks for the save. He did good. He may actually learn something. Tell father I'll be home, but, uh, he shouldn't wait up."

"Whoa, HB. Come on. You just got grounded. You do this the professor is gonna kill you." Jack warned him.

"See you later, Jack."

The communication line cut out after that and Hellboy's locator signal turned off. "Crap." Jack groaned.

[Soft growling]

"Yeah, he skipped out, again. I swear we should get a leash for him." Jack remarked.

"Is he in trouble?" Will asked.

"No, but when the Professor gets his hands on him, he will be." Jack let out a deep sigh and took a deep breath. "Don't worry. We know where he'll go."

The trio walked back into the museum, unaware that the large torso/arm chunk of Sammael's corpse cracked open and a greenish ball of what looked fire appeared.

"Sammael…die in piece and be reborn again and again."

The green ball of fire that was Sammael's soul then split into two and hovered over to a sewer grate before going down.

Will stopped and turned around, thinking he heard something, but no one was around. He even used his telekinetic sense to double-check but nothing although when he did that, he did feel a very strange aura by the alleyway. It felt similar to the energy of Sammael, supernatural in nature, but it also felt human, and it was lingering so like someone was there before they showed up.

"Huh…"

With Sammael taken care of, the SHIELD teams were able to move into the exhibit to collect evidence and clean up the area. The police still kept everyone out of the museum until they finished. Coulson's team assisted in this, getting more knowledge in the supernatural as well as the protocol for these kinds of situations. Many supernatural encounters, usually ghosts and demons, often left behind intense EMF energy. EMF or electromagnetic field energy was radiation usually associated with electrical power and ionizing energy. Small electrical items like phones or other items powered by electricity didn't give off enough EMF to be recordable but things like large power lines or big generators could but those levels of energy were harmless to people while stronger ionized energy was the more powerful EMF like X-rays, gamma and direct UV light, the kind of stuff deadly to humans. They learned that the kind of EMF given off by supernatural encounters wasn't dangerous, but the energy was potent enough to pick up which made it easier to track down certain things like spirits, ghosts, and demons. And while it did no harm to your body it did have some physical interactions like the tingling up your spine or the goosebumps you'd get when entering a haunted place or graveyard. Those places likely had a lot of EMF activity and the body's reaction was your sort of organic indicator. With this being a demon, more correctly a demonic hellhound, Sammael also left behind traces of sulfur which was a telltale sign of a demonic presence. Jason Vorhees left behind sulfur everywhere he went, and the team aided in that cleanup so they were aware of the sulfur thing but there was still more to learn.

Fitz-Simmons were working with the SHIELD tech and biotech teams on the cleanup and analysis while Ward coordinated with the security team on the proper protocol to handle cleanup and containment. Coulson and May were working with the SHIELD teams, supervising anything. "So…is this how your typical missions go?" May wondered.

"More often than not, yes." Professor Broom answered. "The damage can be explained and handled. At the very least this didn't get out into the public."

"Agreed. Aliens and superheroes are one thing but I'm not sure the world is ready for the supernatural just yet." Coulson pointed out. "The last thing we need is another Salem Witch trials."

"And by witch trials are we inferring actual witches here?" Skye wondered and got nods in response. "Ok, good to know that not all those trials were just racist and ignorant pilgrims."

"But I'm sure it wasn't actual magic. Just other supernatural events that could later be explained in a scientific way, right Professor Broom?" Simmons asked him, showing that while she had gotten her head around the idea of the supernatural there was still some stuff she thought of as ridiculous. Guess magic was one of them.

"At this point, anything is possible." May remarked, not batting an eye at the idea of real magic. And not Asgardian magic but witches kind of magic.

"Oh dear…" Simmons muttered as she held her tablet when they heard loud footsteps. They turned and saw Jack, Man-Thing and Will return. Man-Thing and Jack went over to speak to Professor Broom to tell him that Hellboy snuck off while Will walked over to Skye.

"Hey, how'd it go slaying the monster?" Skye wondered.

"Fine. Ted scored the final kill. Skye, can you bring up the security footage for the camera facing the alley?" He asked.

"Sure." Skye got her tablet and connected to the museum's security system which included the cameras. "What am I looking at?"

"Give me the last 15 minutes." Will said so Skye brought up the camera. Coulson walked over to see what was going on as he figured if Will was asking about something then something must have happened. May saw this and joined them as they watched the camera footage of an empty alley behind the museum until Hellboy literally dropped into frame and crashed into a dumpster.

"Oh, that had to hurt." Skye remarked as they watched Hellboy get on his knees and grab his side in pain when she saw something in the corner of the frame. "What's that?"

"That." Will touched the tablet and zoomed in on the corner where they distinctly saw something human, most likely a man, but he seemed to come out of nowhere. "Skye, can you get me another angle?"

"Yeah, there's another camera in the alley." Skye switched to get a better view of the alley. They saw he was wearing dark clothing and dressed almost like a businessman met a priest in a dark alley but couldn't see his face as it was hidden by the shadows in the alley. The video kept playing and the mysterious man stepped into the light which is when the video began to fritz out with intense feedback that obscured him. The video kept playing with the weird interference until the picture returned to normal. They saw Hellboy aim his gun at the alleyway but there was no man and soon enough Sammael dropped down behind him and that's when the interference returned but not as intense as before. They then witnessed the fight play out but no other sign of the mystery man. "You guys saw that, didn't you?"

"Yeah, we did and whoever or whatever he is just made our jobs more complicated." Will remarked and Coulson agreed.

"Skye, were you able to get anything from the security cameras in here?" Coulson asked her, thinking that maybe that man also broke into the museum.

"Yeah, but there's some kind of weird interference signal with the footage. Nothing like I've ever seen before. It'll take me a while to clear it up." Skye answered. It was a long shot, but they could get something.

Fitz was running a scanner through the area when he saw Abe pick up the bladed tonfa marked as evidence. "Whoa, careful there. That's evidence. Should you be touching that?"

"I need to touch it. To see." Abe told him.

"See what?" Simmons wondered.

"Past, future. Whatever this object holds. Don't worry about fingerprints. Never had any." Abe assured them as he touched the tonfa sword.

"Oh, this could help us. If Abe's frontal lobe is as powerful as Professor Broom said it is, then he could theoretically see what happened here." Simmons suggested.

"Is that possible? Not to put any pressure on Abe here and what he was able to figure out about Will is impressive but how would touching one item show us what happened." Skye pointed out. "Didn't SHIELD discount reports and studies on precognition, intuition, and ESP?"

"They did but it's fair to say that research is outdated." Will pointed out.

"Actually, when we were in Crystal Lake, I was doing some research into the materials the specialist gave us and I did find several passages and chapters dedicated to psychics and mediums. If the material there is to be believed and considering everything, we've seen than most likely, certain psychics and mediums have a unique attunement or sensitivity to certain energies that allow them to feel and understand how people were feeling and see certain events. Granted the age of the book doesn't exactly help but considering a modern scientific understanding and what we just learned about EMF, it's possible that Abe is sensing unique energy or leftover radiation on the weapon which his mind then interprets as images." Fitz explained, trying to make some scientific sense of a supernatural/psychic ability like psychometry. "But again, it's all theoretical."

"Ugh, all this is making my head hurt." Skye muttered when they heard Abe gasp.

"Professor…they were here."

Professor Broom walked over to Abe and held his hand out. "Show me, Abe. Show me what happened here." The Professor put his hand on Abe's that was touching the weapon and Abe then placed his other hand on top, showing him the vision.

"Interesting. So not only can Abe see events and read people, but he can also share those events with others as well. Fascinating. I'd love to see what is going on with him on a biological level. You'd think I'd be able to conduct a brain scan when he is doing that?" Simmons wondered.

"Easy, Simmons. I'm sure the Professor can share that data. No need to put him under a scalpel." Skye remarked and Simmons stuttered.

"Uh, I would never. That's barbaric." Simmons defended herself when the Professor exited the vision Abe showed him. He tensed up and was visibly worried. "Professor, are you all right?"

"Professor?" Abe called out.

"I'm all alright." Broom took a few steps when he stopped and held his side. Simmons rushed over to tend to him as did Abe but when he placed his hand on his chest, he knew what was wrong. Cancer. "You…you are very sick."

"I don't want Hellboy to know." Broom said and everyone realized it was true. "70 years ago, they tried to destroy the world. They're back. In my lifetime they're back…to finish the job."

"Who is back?" Will asked him.

Professor Broom took a deep breath and managed to find the strength to stand up straight. "Not here. We'll let the agents finish up the cleanup and return to base. Jack, please get Hellboy."

"Of course, Professor." Jack replied.

"You know where he went?" Will asked and Jack nodded.

"To see an old friend."

Bellamie Psychiatric Hospital, NYC

Hellboy had slipped away after dealing with Sammael and went to the Bellamie Psychiatric Hospital to visit an old friend. Elizabeth Liz Sherman. Born in Kansas city, she was an enhanced individual with a unique pyrokinetic ability. She was a former ward of the BPRD after the accident that caused her pyrokinetic ability to manifest and she was with them for years. She was practically family with Professor Broom, Jack, Abe, and Ted while being sort of more with Hellboy but after a particularly bad accident that nearly destroyed the BPRD base she left and checked into a mental hospital to get her mental state under control which would then allow her better control over her powers. Normally, letting someone as dangerous as she was out of a protective SHIELD facility wasn't the norm, but Professor Broom vouched for her, and they'd keep an eye on her. While Liz left of her own volition, it didn't stop Hellboy from going to see her which usually resulted in him breaking out of the BPRD to do it. Hellboy brought along a 6-pack of beer he swiped from some adults having Halloween fun and the two just sat on a bench outside the hospital.

"We miss you at the Bureau. Abe's crazier every day. Jack's trying to act like the adult in the group. Ted's just taking over my room. Father's still mad at me and we've got some rookies to train." Hellboy remarked and Liz chuckled before he looked at her. "Come back, Liz. Come back."

"No. No, HB. No, not this time. I don't like it here, but I haven't had an episode in months. And you know what?" Liz held up her left hand and used her powers, making a blue flame erupt from her body. It enveloped her hand and wrist like a second-skin like it was inside of her and less like she just made a ball of fire in the air and held it in her hand. It flickered and moved around her hand like it was alive. "I'm learning to control it. I'm learning where it comes from. For the first time in my life…I'm not afraid."

She clenched her first and the fire went away when they heard a car slow down to a stop. SHIELD SUVs and cars pulled up. "The Nanny Squad." Hellboy quipped as he saw the SHIELD agents get out with Jack helping Professor Broom out of the car. Will, Coulson and the others got out of their vehicle as well.

"Listen, HB, I've got a chance out here, so if you really care about me…you won't come back." Liz told him and Hellboy was heartbroken but didn't let it show. Liz gave him one last look before she walked away.

"Yeah…I got to go, too. Lots to do." Hellboy whispered as Will and Jack walked over to him. He then winced and fell to his knees, holding his side in pain.

"HB!" Jack and Will got to his side and steadied him as she fell to his knees. Skye rushed over too to help.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"He's lost a lot of blood." Will deduced, seeing the shape he was in and the blood on the floor.

"This is nothing. You know what'll kill me, don't ya?" Hellboy quipped, sparing one last look at Liz before Jack and the other agents helped him up and to the cars.

"Ok, HB. Let's get you home." Jack said to him.

Will and Skye looked over at Liz who gave them one last look before heading inside. "Skye, think you can find out about her?" Will wondered.

"Yeah, what are you thinking?" Skye asked.

"I'll let you know when I do." Will replied as they joined the others.

BPRD Headquarters, New Jersey

They all returned to the BPRD headquarters and Hellboy was taken to the medical lab to get his injuries looked at. Simmons patched him up and was tending to his other wounds while Abe examined what Sammael did and made sure he was fine. Jack and Ted were in the room along with Professor Broom and Will. He stuck around partially because he felt like it and also because he was waiting for the others to regroup with him. Coulson, May and Ward were observing the other agents while Fitz and Skye were working on the security camera footage from the museum.

"How's it feel?" Will wondered. "On a scale of 1 to 10."

"Eh, about a 4. Same kind of pain when we dealt with the Loch Ness monster." Hellboy answered as Abe examined the wound on his arm. "Ow…"

Simmons got a stunned look. "The Loch Ness Monster? It's real?" he continued wrapping Hellboy's stomach in bandages.

Hellboy chuckled. "Nah I was joking."

"Oh." Simmons gave a little sheepish laugh. "I never believed in that silly legend."

"Actually… the legends real." Hellboy said with a straight face.

Simmons blinked in confusion. "But you just said…"

"I was kidding about my joke." Hellboy interrupted her before grinning. "Fooled ya didn't I?"

"So…" Simmons trailed off. "Nessie is real?"

"Was real and she always hated name. Ted and I wrestled her out of the water, Jack was full blown werewolf, so he got a few licks in before I blew her brains out." Hellboy recounted and everyone nodded.

"Right…" Simmons muttered; her mind completely blown on the idea of the Loch Ness monster yet everyone else was acting like it was nothing. "Still, your musculature and skin density is extraordinary. That demon must have been quite powerful to do this to you."

"He was considering how much punishment it took." Jack pointed out. "HB blew its head off and it still didn't die."

"With its strength, regeneration, and appetite it's safe to say if that thing ever got out and god forbid multiply then we'd have an issue on our hands." Will said and everyone agreed as Abe examined the wound on Hellboy's arm in more depth while Simmons finished up and then moved onto the stinger from Sammael's tongue. They put it into a containment box and now Simmons had a chance to examine it.

"Fascinating." Simmons put a light over it to get a better look while she ran a scanner over it. She looked over at a monitor on the wall and all the data from the scanner was fed there. "It's biology is unlike anything I've seen before. It's carbon-based but it has a significantly high sulfuric base as well."

"That would explain the traces of sulfur we found at the museum." Will postulated.

"Exactly and it also has a rather unique electromagnetic radiation emitting from it which is why we picked up those traces of EMF. That would also explain why there was the interference with the security camera footage." Simmons added.

"Hopefully, Skye and Fitz can clear that up, so we have a better idea on what we're dealing with." Will hoped.

"I'm aware of what we're dealing with, Agent Detmer." Professor Broom told him. "When the rest of your team gets here, I'll tell you."

Will nodded and Simmons continued to examine the stinger. "Simmons, anything else you can tell us about this thing?"

"Well, it has a central nervous system and a small rudimentary brain located here." Simmons pointed to the bulbous part of the stinger and the scan highlighted the area. "The fact that it is still moving indicates a form of intelligence, but probably simple. Most likely similar to other insects with a simple objective, in this case likely to cause harm. It's stinger her has sharp bards and appears to secrete a form of organic acid, most likely as a means of offensive capabilities and to better digest its prey. Hellboy is lucky that stinger was removed before it caused greater damage."

"Mmmm. I'm lucky that way. Ow." Hellboy flinched a bit as Abe examined the stinger wound.

"[Sighs] I worry about you sometimes." Professor Broom said.

"Me?"

"Well…I won't be around forever, you know."

"DAMN!" Hellboy shouted, causing Simmons jump in fright but he wasn't angry or mad. Abe just hit a nerve ending which hurt like hell. "Could you please be a little careful?"

"Mm-hmm. Big baby." Abe muttered as Simmons continued to analyze the stinger. "How long was it attached to you?"

"Mm, I don't know. About five seconds." Hellboy remembered when he winces as Abe pulled something out of Hellboy's arm.

"Professor, look." Abe held up a small yellow organic orb.

"Is it bad?" Hellboy wondered.

"Touched you for five seconds, laid three eggs." Abe held it up for everyone to see.

"Uh, congratulations?" Simmons said to Hellboy.

"I think I'm gonna be sick." Will toughed out the urge to throw up.

Abe handed over the egg to Simmons so she could examine him and then removed the rest from Hellboy's arm before patching him up. She examined it under a microscope and could see the activity of the infant inside and then compared it to the scans from the stinger where she found the gland that injected the eggs. "This is where the stinger injects the eggs. The organic acid breaks down organic tissue allowing for easier insertion into its host." Simmons explained.

"But why inject the eggs into a host? Why didn't this thing just lay a bunch of eggs in the museum wing?" Jack questioned.

"The chemistry and organic matter of the egg is rather sensitive to certain stimuli, this case being excessive heat and light. Injecting the eggs into an organic host would provide a darker, more humid environment more beneficial to development." Simmons explained.

"Then it's a good thing we took care of it before it got the chance." Jack said only for Ted to growl, speaking to him. "No, I did not just jinx us."

That's when the doors opened, and Coulson and the others walked in led by Fitz and Skye. "We managed to fix up the security camera footage and enhanced the audio. There's something you got to see." Skye told everyone.

She connected to a monitor and brought up the security camera footage from the museum's back alley. She played the footage from before.

Hellboy smashed into a dumpster before he pulled himself out and fell to the ground in discomfort and pain.

"Did you manage to track the guy from the alley?" Hellboy asked but got headshakes.

"No, it's like he disappeared but he was there earlier." Skye then brought up the footage from the museum wing.

They saw a security guard activate the security system after completing his walkthrough when Skye zoomed in on one corner, showing a man climbing down a pillar to the ground floor, crawling like a gymnast and even flipped his body over his head as he got to the floor. He was wearing all black with a black helmet, a steel jaw plate and some kind of weird bronze chest armor. They saw he had the same steel tonfa swords on his hips, so the one Abe found was his. The man walked over to the display case of a 16th century statue. St. Dionysius the Areopagite. The man ran his hand over the glass when a woman walked into frame holding a sledgehammer.

"Kroenen. Move."

The woman just smashed the glass display case, setting off the alarm. The masked man then turned the dial on his chest piece and pulled out his tonfa sword, spinning it around before slicing the stone statue clean in two. The woman walked over and removed a large container filled with something.

"Kill them." The woman ordered and the masked man faced the officers, twirling his swords around as the museum guards aimed their pistols at him. Two guards on the second-floor balcony opened fire but the man actually deflected the bullets back at them, killing them. The other guards opened fire at him, and he stood there. He was jostled around from the impacts of the bullets but no blood or flesh. All they saw were puffs of what looked like dust. The man was completely fine, and he then sliced through the guards in quick succession.

"What the hell?" Will muttered, seeing it with his own eyes.

"Possible enhanced?" Ward suggested.

"I'm afraid not, Agent Ward." Professor Broom told him.

"Now this is where the security camera footage crapped out from the same interference signal from the alley. But Fitz and I managed to devise a quantum-helix algorithm to clean up the video that was ruined." Skye let the video continue but then stopped and highlighted a bald, black-clad dressed man who appeared by the windows seemingly out of nowhere. She paused the video then brought up a side by side with the video from the alleyway and highlighted the man in that footage. "Look familiar?"

"That's him." Hellboy said.

"Who is he?" Coulson asked and Skye shrugged.

"No idea. I've run his face through facial recognition through every single possible database SHIELD has access to and nothing. It's like the guy doesn't exist and neither does the woman in the video. And I checked every single camera in the museum and then everything from several blocks around and nothing. Traffic cameras, ATM monitors, cellphones, heck even dashboard cameras and nothing. It's like they just appear out of nowhere."

"That's impossible." Ward pointed out.

"I would normally agree with you but considering what we're dealing with, not so much. And that man is our puppet master." Will said as he looked at the professor who looked at the screen. While his old face hid it well, Will knew he recognized him. "Who is he, Professor?"

"Someone I thought dead for a long time. Let the footage continue to play." Professor Broom said and Skye did.

The man walked away from the windows and stood by the statue, giving a thankful nod to the masked man who nodded back. "Now, ready the welcome, my love." The woman opened the container and dumped the contents out onto the floor. "Salt…gathered from the tears of a thousand angels, restraining the essence of Sammael, the Hellhound, the Seed of Destruction."

The man held his hand to his mouth and breathed out a kind of green vapor. Coulson and the others watched the footage enraptured at what they were seeing as it was their first real experience watching magic and it was a very powerful kind. "This I can promise, Sammael. For each one of you that falls, two shall arise."

The man placed the vapor into the contents from the container and it came to life, quickly birthing Sammael into this world.

"Oh, dear lord." Simmons muttered.

"For each one that falls…two shall arise…" Will said, repeating the man's words and remembering what happened. "Skye, alleyway footage."

"Already ahead of you and unfortunately he wasn't lying." Skye brought up the alleyway footage and sped past the fight before resuming at normal speed after Will, Jack, and Ted noticed Hellboy was gone and went back into the museum. They saw Sammael's burnt, broken corpse cracked open and a greenish ball of what looked like fire appeared. The green ball of fire then split into two and hovered over to a sewer grate before going down. "I think we got ourselves a hydra situation. And by that, I mean the mythical Greek beast not the World War 2—"

"We got it, Skye." Ward stopped her. "Sir, if that thing really did come back and split in two then wouldn't we have heard something by now?"

"No, because those things just found the perfect place to breed." Will gestured for Skye's tablet so she handed it over. He brought up a few maps and old records of New York City going back decades along with current ones. "The grate it went down leads to a sewer line but adjacent to that is miles upon miles of subway tunnels."

"Ok, then we used subway security cameras to track these things down. Look for interference." Fitz suggested when Will brought up one sewer map and an old subway tunnel map from the 30s.

"That is if they use modern subway tunnels. Simmons said these things need dark, damp, humid climate to breed. Not exactly conducive anywhere near an active subway line but the sewer grate they went down is near an old, abandoned subway tunnel." Will said and everyone looked at him funny. "Old railways and stations that were bricked up and abandoned when the city put in new ones. There's miles of tunnels and stations down there. Abandoned, isolated, and likely dark, damp, and humid."

"A perfect breeding ground for an army." May surmised.

"Which means we need to stop those things before New York City is faced with a literal infestation." Coulson stated. "Tomorrow we'll go down to the subway from behind the museum with every single available agent possible to search everywhere top to bottom. We find those eggs and destroy them."

"Tomorrow's gonna be a pain in the ass and we'll end up smelling like crap." Hellboy muttered, getting up and heading to his room with Jack, Abe, and Ted following him. They needed to get some rest.

"Professor, you recognized the man from the video, and we heard what you said in the museum. Who is that?" Coulson asked him.

"Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin." Professor Broom replied.

"I know you're gonna say no but I've got to ask anyway. We're not talking about Rasputin as in the Rasputin. Advisor to the ruling Romanov Russian family, crazy mystic died in 1916, right?" Will asked, hoping he was right and that maybe there was some crazy that wasn't this crazy.

"Please?" Skye, Simmons, and Fitz asked, hoping Will was right as well.

"I'm afraid not. Occult advisor to the Romanovs. In 1916, at a dinner in his honor, he was poisoned, shot, stabbed, clubbed, castrated, and finally drowned but did not die. He was responsible for the creation of the BPRD. I saw him in 1944 on a classified mission off the coast of Scotland. The Nazi's were desperate, so they intended to upset the balance of the war by using science and black magic. I was 28, already a paranormal advisor to President Roosevelt and what we found there started all of this." Professor Broom sat down to tell the story of how everything began. Russian Mystic Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin worked with the Nazis to build a dimensional portal off the coast of Scotland, home to a series of ley lines of powerful magical energy. His goal was to free the Ogdru Jahad, the Seven Elder gods of Chaos. Helping him was his disciples Isla von Haupstein and Obersturmbannführer Karl Ruprecht Kroenen, Hitler's top assassin and leader of the Thule Occult Society. They were the woman and the masked man from the video yet despite being in their 90s looked the same as they did when the Professor saw them. Professor Broom worked with an Allied SSR team back then and they destroyed the portal which was supposed to have killed Rasputin. Haupstein and Kroenen escaped and that's where they found Hellboy having come through the gate.

"Ok, just so I have this clear…" Will stood up and took a deep breath. "…we're facing a revived Russian mystic, tapping into some kind of magical power, who attempted to end the world back in 1944 by summoning some Elder Cthulhu gods. He died but was brought back by his never aging equally crazy girlfriend and the gimp from Pulp Fiction who turns out is Hitler's favorite assassin. Now they are back and summoned a four-limbed demon monstrosity that looks like a cross between a wolf from hell and a Cthulhu monster. For what reason, we have no idea but considering what he was trying to do last time, most likely in some ploy to try and take over the world and end all life as we know it. Do I have that right?"

"Yes." Professor Broom replied.

"Ok, ok. Just wanted to make sure. Just another day at the office." Will remarked when a thought came to him.

"What?" May asked, seeing Will think of something.

"Skye, Rasputin and the others never showed up on any camera outside before they showed up in the museum?" He asked.

"I got nothing for a few blocks around the museum. No sign of them even in the museum until they broke the statue open." She answered.

"What are you getting at, Will?" Ward asked him.

"That what we saw Rasputin do was magic. He's magical yet he and his followers appeared on camera. Sure, it had signal interference but that was mostly from Sammael's presence. And Rasputin didn't show his face until he did that spell-thing to bring Sammael alive." Will recounted.

"What are you getting at, Will?" Coulson questioned.

"It's just…if this guy is the Russian boogeyman with real magic up his sleeve, then he could have destroyed the cameras, so he never appeared. And why the hell would he risk leaving behind that sword which would give Abe the chance to see exactly what happened? If he had taken that with him then Sammael would have been brought back and we'd be none the wiser, but no. He let us find him. He let Hellboy see him." Will pointed out.

"Are you suggesting that he did all of that for a reason?" May suggested.

"Either the guy is arrogant all to hell, which is a possibility, or he wanted us to see him." Will said and his latter suggestion made everyone worry.

"You're right in your assumption, Agent Detmer. Safe to say that Rasputin has a plan in his mind, and we are playing it out accordingly." Professor Broom stood up and walked to the door.

"So, how do we stop him?" Skye wondered.

"We do what we do best." Broom replied.

BPRD Headquarters, New Jersey

The next morning, the team awoke to some interesting news. An explosion rocked the Bellamie Psychiatric Hospital in the middle of the night and the cause of it was Elizabeth Sherman. She had an episode in her sleep, and it caused her powers to activate, taking out part of the building. There were some causalities and injuries and suffice to say that the mood was dour. Skye had gotten him the file on Liz. She was a pyrokinetic and former ward of the BPRD. Seemingly a normal childhood until an accident when she was 11 years old caused her pyrokinetic powers to emerge uncontrollably, destroying an entire city block in Kansas City and killing 32 people. It was an accident, of course, and the BPRD took her in to protect her from others and to get better control of her abilities. She eventually left the BPRD after an accident to the Bellamie Psychiatric hospital where she could better control her emotions which also meant better control over her powers.

Her pyrokinetic powers seem fairly similar to that of Chan Ho Yin but hers were more powerful. Instead of a typical red colored fire, hers was blue and she seemed to mentally generate it, projecting it from her hands and having it surround her body like a protective cocoon where she and her clothing was completely unharmed. To this day, the BPRD have never fully explained where her powers came from or why they manifested the way they did. All her previous doctor visits and blood work prior to the accident were normal so it was like one day they just changed. Some research and exams seem to suggest that the fire that dwells within her is not normal fire. It's a lot stronger for one thing and Professor Broom theorized that it could stem from a supernatural entity or presence that gifted her this ability. Abe read her once and he said that the fire inside her seemed alive like it was almost something living inside her. Keeping itself alive and in turn protecting Liz. A symbiotic relationship so maybe some kind of entity or presence that needs her.

Whatever the case, something happened to cause her powers to activate the way they did last night, especially after months of good progress. Will walked through the BPRD to talk to Professor Broom who was in Hellboy's and Ted's room for breakfast. The Professor had just told them what happened.

"How many buildings does she have to burn down? She belongs here." Hellboy remarked but Ted growled, speaking to him as he ate some pancakes.

"Ted is right. That's not what she feels. She may never feel it. It's her choice and we have to respect that." Professor Broom told him. Hellboy scoffed and used a sander on his horn stumps.

"Uh…Professor? Uh, that girl…Liz…?" Will tried to speak to him but Hellboy's sander was loud as hell.

"Hey, kid. I'm starting to like you. Think twice." Hellboy warned him.

"Relax, Hellboy. I'm not interested in her. I read her file last night." He said but Hellboy scoffed and continued sanding his horns. Honestly the sound was annoying and loud, but Will just ignored it. "She blames herself for that explosion in Pittsburgh and probably for the one last night. Maybe Coulson and I can help. We have experience with people like her. People that are afraid of their powers. Maybe we can bring her back here."

"And how do you plan on doing that, huh?" Hellboy wondered. "What special skills or SHIELD moves do you have that make you so special?"

"Personally, I like to think I'm just a people person." Will admitted. "Look, HB…Liz right now is feeling isolate, alone, and like a stranger in her own body. She can't trust herself and the second she gives herself to rest and feel like her world isn't coming undone is when it all goes to crap. Like the entire world is a tinder box and she's the match that sets it ablaze and starts a wildfire and that kind of internal turmoil can send someone down into a dark pit. You care about her, I get it and you want her safe but until she's ready to come to terms with who she is, what she's done, and improve herself first…she's not gonna be ready."

"What makes you so sure?" Hellboy asked.

"Personal experience." Will admitted before he walked away. What he spoke about was what he went through when he first got his powers and after he lost his parents.

Ted looked at Hellboy and growled. "Yeah, yeah. Just because the kid is right doesn't mean I have to like it." Hellboy grumbled.

Will retreated to the library where he saw Jack getting the books ready for Abe to read and Abe ready to go into his tank. "I'm impressed…" Will heard and saw Professor Broom walk into the library. "Hellboy is rather stubborn, and you are one of the few who not only spoke sense to him but managed to get him to admit when he is wrong."

"I just have that kind of effect on people." Will quipped. "He really does care about her, doesn't he?"

"He does. With Jack, Abe, and Ted they're like a family but with Elizabeth…it's always been more." Professor Broom replied. "I won't be around forever and like any father I worry about him. I worry about who will look out for him when I am gone. I hope you will be one of those people."

"I'll do my best, Professor." Will replied.

"From what I've heard from Agent Coulson, your best is often enough. He had many great things to say about you. A fine agent for one so young. Someone with a good head on his shoulders, someone who adhers to the underlying principal of SHIELD." Professor Broom said.

"That people are worth protecting." Will repeated.

"Only someone so pure of heart, who has seen what you have yet still decides to fight…is someone I know who will be good for Hellboy." Professor Broom told him.

"Thank you for the compliment, Professor. I'm a lot of things but I'm not pure of heart." Will admitted, thinking on all he's done. He wasn't going to say he was evil, but he had done enough bad and hoped it was weighed out by the good he had done.

"Yes, you are." Abe assured him.

"Rasputin is back for him. All I'm asking is that you have the courage to stand by him when I'm gone. He was born a demon—I can't change that, but you and the others will help him stay a good man." The Professor wished and Will nodded. He wasn't sure what was gonna happen, but he'd do what he did best. Helping people and right now that includes Hellboy and Liz. She needed help and being treated like a monster wasn't going to do anyone any favors. Will spoke with Coulson and told him to take the team to go speak to Liz. Try and help her. After what happened she needed them, and Coulson and Skye were good people to speak with. Will would go himself, but he would be going down with the team to deal with the eggs. He was needed there more. Fitz-Simmons would stay in the base to run support for the mission so Coulson, Skye, Ward, and May would go help Liz. Will suggested Ward and May go with them too. They could be heartfelt and supportive if it needed to be and in case something happened. Better to be prepared.

Bellamie Psychiatric Hospital, NYC

Coulson, May, Skye, and Ward drove to the hospital. Part of the building was destroyed but was already being taken care of by the fire department and SHIELD teams. Most of the residents were moved to other hospitals while Liz was moved to an isolation ward beneath the building for observation. Coulson and the others met with the doctor in the observation room.

"She was making great progress, and now this. We'll be closed for months, and it put a big dent in our Thorazine supply." The doctor said.

"How is she?" May wondered.

"She's been like this since it happened. Hasn't spoken to anyone." The doctor replied.

"How was she the day before?" Ward asked.

"Fine. Like I said, she was making great progress. I never saw any kind of signs or indicators of an episode. It's like it…just happened out of nowhere." The doctor answered.

"Thank you, Doctor. We'll take it from here." Coulson told her. She nodded and left the room, leaving the three SHIELD agents and Skye. "Assessment?"

"Something doesn't add up." May stated.

"I agree with May. She's been doing better than all of a sudden, an episode like this. It just doesn't make any sense, especially when her charts say she's been getting a better handle on her powers." Ward looked them over. "We're missing something here."

"You don't think Rasputin had something to do with this, do you?" Skye wondered.

"What do you mean?" Ward asked her.

"Well, you saw on the video. He's got an interest in Hellboy. Hellboy likes her so maybe he snuck in here and did something. Not that we can find out as all the camera footage is completely fried." Skye remarked.

"If the Professor is worried about Rasputin, then we're not discounting anything. That doesn't change the fact that she needs our help and that's what we do." Coulson told them and they nodded. "Skye and I will make the introduction. You two wait here."

"Welcome wagon, here we come." Skye muttered as they entered Liz's isolation room.

"Miss Sherman? I'm Agent Phil Coulson, SHIELD. This is Skye." Coulson introduced the two of them, but she just kept staring at the wall. "Ms. Sherman?"

"Can we call you Liz?" Skye asked her. "It's a nice name better than the one I got growing up. Not Skye, I mean. That I gave to myself but the orphanage I grew up in tried to name me Mary Sue Poots, so you'll understand why I chose my own name."

"I can't see you as a Mary." Coulson remarked and Skye chuckled which ended up getting a chuckle out of Liz. "Liz…we know what happened last night. It wasn't your fault."

"Tell that to the damage I caused and the people who died." Liz replied.

"We know but it was an accident. Everyone knows that. You can't blame yourself for something you had no control of." Coulson assured her.

"He's right. And SHIELD is in no place to judge. They messed with alien technology and brought an alien invasion to earth." Skye pointed out. "We're not ones to judge. Especially us. We're here to help."

"Professor Broom asked us to extend an invitation back to the institute. No special precautions. No security escorts. Just us…and a car back." Coulson offered.

"Doesn't have to be permanent. Just for a few days. Give you a change of scenery. Some familiar faces. Some better food not from a hospital cafeteria. I heard New Jersey has some amazing sandwiches and I haven't tried them all yet." Skye quipped and Liz chuckled a bit. The idea sounded tempting, and it was better than staring at a wall.

Abandoned Subway tunnels, NYC

Various SHIELD Teams had secured various subways tunnels all around the island of Manhattan using scanners and began their search from the outside in while the main team started their search from the supposed epicenter. Hellboy, Abe, Jack, Man-Thing along with Will and a heavily armed SHIELD tactical team inserted into the abandoned subway tunnel near the sewer grate by the museum. That's where they went down and using their scanners and Abe, they arrived in some old access tunnels to old subway stations. None of the other teams reported any kind of activity and their scans were negative which meant that Sammael hadn't gotten outside the epicenter which was good.

Will was in his SHIELD tactical gear, carrying a heavy bag filled with supplies and spare weapons on his back. His pistol holstered to his thigh, his Modified Remington 879 MSC Masterkey 12-gauge compact shotgun slung over his right shoulder, and he was carrying a Milkor 40mm grenade launcher. Considering what it took to kill Sammael last night, Will decided to get rid of the kid's gloves and go with the things that went boom, especially since there was going to be more than one. And the BPRD hooked him up with special supernatural grenade rounds. A typical grenade round filled with Holy Water, silver flakes, and rock salt but on the safe side his grenade launcher was also filled with incendiary rounds as Simmons theorized that could be an excellent method in killing it after more tests she ran on the stinger and the eggs. Some of the agents were carrying flamethrowers with them on her suggestion. They all climbed into an old, abandoned maintenance tunnel as that's where the reading got stronger.

Will took off his large back and took out a small case of drones that Fitz gave him. They were the ones they usually used with radio contact, video feeds, but Fitz improved the scanners, so they'd pick up the EMF and sulfur residue of Sammael along with improving the communication signal to account for possible EMF disruption. The drones powered up and hovered out of the case before moving forward through the maintenance tunnels. "Fitz, how's the signal looking?" Will tapped his ear comm.

Fitz and Simmons were back at the BPRD, running back-end support using the drones to monitor things along with old maps and blueprints from the city. "Signal's coming in strong. We're picking up an increase in EMF activity so keep going through the tunnel." Fitz told him.

"But be careful. There are miles of tunnels and passages ahead so you can get lost." Simmons warned him.

"Roger that." Will replied.

"They're right. This way." Abe led the way, using his sensors on his hands and continued down the maintenance tunnel. It was slow going as there were obstructions like collapsed walls and the broken ventilation shafts and rebar beams from the ceiling. That along with rubble likely from years of wear and tear, water dripping, and the pungent smell of a humid, damp place wasn't exactly helping. Hellboy lit his cigar, so it replaced the damp humid smell with cigar smoke, so they got that as well.

"Fitz-Simmons, where exactly are we?" Will asked them.

"According to our scans and the old records, you're in an old subway station. Many of the lines were shut down years ago but back then that place was like a small station for all of them to intersect and collect. But years ago, new subway lines were built, and this hub was abandoned. A few subway lines still intersect or run next to it, but that's it. The maintenance tunnel you're in should lead you right to the old station." Fitz replied.

"And right below you is the old Vandeveer reservoir. It was abandoned in the mid-30s so that's the perfect place for the eggs." Simmons told him.

"The drones picking up anything?" Will asked.

"Slight EMF readings but nothing substantial to give us a better idea on where they are. There's so much steel, concrete, and lead piping down there it's likely muddling the readings." Fitz told him as Will saw the various tunnels that went in different directions.

"Fitz, program some of the droids and send them down the tunnels. Get us a read-out and accurate map of the area. Let's not get caught by surprise." Will told him.

"Roger that." Fitz programmed three of the six drones to break off and each one went down a tunnel.

"Abe, anything?" Jack asked as Abe continued to scan the area when he stopped at a brick wall to a dead end.

"There's a pulse there. A cistern on the other side." Abe told them. "Most of the eggs are there."

"Sounds like a good place to lay some eggs." Will remarked and Hellboy walked over to the wall.

"All right, I think I got some explosives that should be able to break down that wall without causing any structural damage." Will took off his pack to get them, but Hellboy just punched through it. It took about six punches with his stone hand, but he made a way through. "Or we could do that."

"You guys coming or what?" Hellboy asked as he kept moving forward.

They entered the remnants of the old reservoir system and Hellboy lifted the lid to the reservoir tank which was crawling with bugs and roaches revealing a gross and dirty pool of water. "We lead a charmed life." Abe remarked to the others, and they nodded. Hellboy cracked some glow sticks and dropped them in. Unbeknownst to them, Sammael, or one of them saw the glow sticks and swam away.

Will removed his pack and took out the case for the aquatic drone. It was a small submersible with powerful rotors, scanners, and cameras that would give them eyes in the water. "Fitz, I'm powering up the water drone. Let me know when you're ready." Will said, picking it up and making sure it was ok.

"One moment." Fitz turned on the drone software and assumed control at a console where he could remote pilot in the water. The sensors turned on which fed into the systems at the BPRD headquarters giving the drone a mini-sonar and the cameras on it gave it a 360-degree field of vision. Also attached to it was a large container Abe could use to put the eggs in for disposal later. The cameras powered up allowing Fitz-Simmons to see everything and they saw Will staring at the drone. "Drone is ready. Feed is good."

"Perfect." Will walked over and dropped the drone down in the water as Abe removed his suit to go swimming down into the reservoir to get the eggs.

"Here you are, doctor. This should cover your tail fin." Hellboy held up a small necklace with a trinket at the end. "Reliquary, straight from the Vatican. A bone from St. Dionysius. Looks like a…pinkie."

Abe tied the necklace around his wrist for safekeeping. "Remind me why I keep doing this."

"Rotten eggs and the safety of mankind." Hellboy answered.

"Ah."

"Be careful down there, Abe." Jack warned him and Ted nodded.

"You need anything we'll be right here and if it gets too bad then you come right back. We'll be waiting." Will promised and Abe nodded before jumping down into the water and swimming away. The drone followed him to keep a watchful eye and find the eggs faster.

While Abe and the drone went to work, the others secured the area. Will got his guns ready and they placed more glowsticks around the area. The drones kept watch over the area while the ones Fitz sent out around were mapping out more of the tunnels. Hellboy was cracking glowsticks to give the area some light, Ted was sitting on the ground near the water flicking pebbles down it, Jack was reading a book while the other agents were checking the immediate surrounding area.

"Hey, can I ask something? How did you guys find Ted? What happened to him that made him this way?" Will asked Jack.

"We're not really sure what happened to him. He's not really sure what happened to him. Either he doesn't know, or he doesn't remember." Jack said and Ted nodded. "We found him in the Florida Everglades hiding out in the swamps. There was a bit of a local legend about a swamp monster hiding away and we found him, but the monster thing is just because of his appearance. He's actually very nice and docile. The only people he harmed were the drug dealers and kidnappers who used the swamp for their activities, but he never once harmed an innocent person. He just wanted to be left alone so we brought him here where he could be with others."

"So, the Professor kept you guys together like a family." Will stated.

"Yup, a family of weirdos. A demon, a fish-man, a growing moss monster and a werewolf. The monster squad for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense." Hellboy said halfheartedly.

"God that thing needs a new name or at least a shorter one." Will remarked and Ted nodded his head, agreeing.

"I have to admit, Will you've been fairly blasé about everything so far. Sure, you ask questions and are still shocked but as much as most people like your team." Jack pointed out.

"He's right. You weren't as freaked out as I thought you would be when we first met, kid. Why is that?" Hellboy wondered.

"Well, to be honest, with this job I've learned not to be shocked by anything anymore." Will admitted. "But this or the demon revenant at Crystal Lake are not my first supernatural experiences. I was part of the SHIELD team that worked with Blade to take down the vampires in Manhattan."

"Oh, those blood suckers. Bet that must have thrown you for a loop." Hellboy remarked.

"Yup. Not what I was expecting when I arrived at a slaughterhouse which ended up being a rave to vampires. I was freaked out, believe me but they're nothing like the stories and stuff you'd see in movies. One silver bullet to the heart or head and they're dust. Killed my fair share before Blade and the others took out the rest but I kept my ear open in case they ever showed up. Thankfully, the vampires went back into hiding with them retreating to Eastern Europe, hiding in the old Soviet bloc states. Not gonna do them any good with Blade on their trail." Will explained.

"Blade, the vampire hunter. We worked with him on occasion in some vampire hunts." Jack said.

"Now that would be a crossover I'd love to see." Will quipped. "And personally, I think you guys need a better codename then the BPRD or monster squad if you're really gonna use that."

Ted shook his head no and growled.

"What then? The monster Avengers?" Hellboy quipped.

"No, you guys aren't monsters. If the world really knew the good, you guys were doing then you'd have plenty of admiration like Iron Man or the Avengers. Hell, you guys would probably have a dedicated fanbase with the same people who like horror movies or horror subculture. If I've learned anything it's all about how you market it. If Kim Kardashian can market herself into a celebrity with a sex tape and doing nothing, then I can at least get you some recognition for your actions. Granted, SHIELD wants to keep everything under wraps, but it won't be long before a massive supernatural event occurs that SHIELD can't hide, and I'll be there to back you guys up should you need it." Will promised and they could tell he meant it. It meant a lot to them.

"Aw, that's so sweet, Will." Simmons said over the comms.

"You're not bad, kid." Hellboy said to him.

"Thanks. And as for a name for you guys, I had an idea. Since you guys sort of hide in the shadows and such and with what Professor Broom said to us, I got something. There are things out there that go bump in the night…and the Midnight Suns are ones who bump back." Will announced, sort of sounding like the epic trailer guy.

"The Midnight Suns…" Jack repeated.

[Positive growl] Will still hadn't picked up on Ted's manner of speech but his facial expression and body language indicated that he liked the name.

"I don't know. Sounds like a comic book." Hellboy pointed out.

"Says the guy with an actual comic book of himself." Will remarked.

"I think it's rather catchy." Fitz admitted.

"Thanks, Fitz. How's it going down there?" Will wondered.

"So far so good. We've managed to find some eggs floating around but no sign of a larger nest yet." Fitz replied.

"Any sign of any Sammael's swimming around down there? There has to be at least two fully grown around here and I doubt they'd like us taking their eggs." Will pointed out.

"Nothing yet. The EMF and sulfur detectors aren't working as effectively with the water obscuring all our scans. We're going off by line of sight and thermal readings but even then, the water is making this more difficult." Fitz replied.

"Good news is that all the eggs we've found were still in their infancy. Clearly, they require some time before maturation and birth. Since we haven't heard any reports from the other teams then we most likely got to them before they could hatch." Simmons suggested.

"Good." Will pulled out the spare aquatic drone and had a large bundle of C4 explosives standing by. "And if all else fails we go with Plan B. Blow them all to hell."

"Now that I like." Hellboy quipped, cracking more glowsticks around when Will's danger sense began to tingle. He tensed up and the others noticed when he saw a masked, black clad figure standing at the end of the hall. It was Kroenen. Hellboy pulled out his revolver, but Kroenen left so he chased after him.

"HB! Red's on the move, I'll cover him!" Jack shouted, running after him.

"Jack!" Will shouted, quickly tossed him a Glock-17 loaded with silver bullets.

"Thanks." Jack replied before running after him.

"Fitz, send a drone with him!" Will ordered.

"On it." Fitz replied, programing a droid to follow Jack. The old tunnels were a labyrinth no one had been in for decades so they could get lost. With the drone following Jack they would have a way to get back to them. The other SHIELD agents returned and grouped up with Will and Ted.

"Should we go after them?" An agent asked and while Will was tempted to do so, they had to stay behind in case Abe needed help. If they all went in, then they could all get lost or walk into a trap.

"No, we stay here and wait for Abe. We all go in we could walk into a track. Fitz has a drone monitoring them." Will told them and they nodded.

"Will, we just found a nest. We're about to—" Fitz stopped talking which immediately got Will worried.

"Fitz, what's wrong?"

"I've lost control of the drone. It's not responding." Fitz told him, trying to bring it back on line but nothing was working. "The drone is offline. Something destroyed it."

"Fitz, what about Abe?" Will asked him.

"I don't know. We've lost all scans of the drone. Abe is on his own down there." Fitz replied when Simmons saw Abe's locator beacon going off.

"Will, Abe's locator beacon is sending out a distress signal. He's in trouble." Simmons replied when they heard some muffled shrieking.

Will signaled to the other agents and to Ted to be quiet. He slowly looked around the corner and saw two Sammaels standing guard over the reservoir tank. He slowly picked up his grenade launcher and released the safety before taking a deep breath and stepping out.

[Sharp Whistle] The Sammaels turned and saw Will standing there with his grenade launcher.

"Hi." He smiled and fired a grenade round at them, causing an explosion that kicked up a lot of smoke and shook the immediate surroundings a bit. He fired a second round for good measure and followed by more smoke he heard loud unearthly shrieking as the Sammaels cried out in pain. The smoke cleared and they saw that one of the beasts had half its face blown off along with part of its upper torso while the other was one burning alive with parts of its body missing. Ted marched forward and grabbed one of the monsters and ripped it in half before burning both halves with his powers while the two agents burnt the other one with their flamethrowers. It shrieked at them, but Will unslung his shotgun and gave it a few slugs to the body to keep it back while the agents kept burning it alive until it finally slumped down and didn't move. Still the agents didn't stop as they kept at it and would continue until it was nothing but ash. Will rushed back over to where their gear was and took out two special cases, special magic boxes that the Professor and Abe had rigged up where they could dump the remains of Sammael and would prevent it from regenerating and its soul from returning and splitting into two. Special magic curse boxes so to speak. He brought those over but went over to his back and rigged up a quick timer on some C4 and grabbed a rebreather.

"Simmons, where exactly is Abe's location down there?" He asked so she brought it up and compared it to where he was.

"He's approximately 125 meters to your 11 o'clock. Will, you're not going down there, are you?" She asked.

"Of course not." Will put the rebreather in his mouth and hooked the C4 to his belt before he jumped down into the reservoir, feeling decades of bacteria and disgusting water cover his body but he stayed focused and began swimming to Abe's location. While he would likely need three showers and a bleach bath later to clean himself properly, he kept focused on his task and swum through the water at super soldier speed when his danger sense went off. Sammael swam through the water at blistering speed and blindsided him, knocking him through the water until he hit something. The force knocked his rebreather loose and jostled him around. Sammael used its arms to slam him into the wall and was about to slash him across the chest when Will's eyes glowed a bright blue. In an instant Sammael's body was crushed into itself with Will's telekinesis. Since there were no scanners down here then he could use his powers without the others knowing. He focused some more, and Sammael's body shook before it exploded into chunk bits and then dust using his telekinetic destruction.

He smirked at his work when he realized he had lost his rebreather so he looked around but couldn't see it in the muck. He was losing his breath quickly with Sammael knocking him around suddenly, so he waved his hand and used his telekinesis to form an air bubble around his head to give himself some air to breath. Several deep breaths later, he collapsed the bubble and kept swimming to Abe's location. With his super soldier physique, it made him faster under water and he could hold his breath longer. After a few more seconds he saw Abe hunkering between a narrow space a few feet away from him, so he placed the C4 next to the eggs and started the timer for 3 minutes. He reached over and grabbed Abe, helping him out and they began swimming back to the exit. It some work with Abe injured but Will and Abe broke the surface of the water by the exit and Ted helped them out. The eggs had begun to hatch and other Sammaels were being born but the timer had ticked down to its end and the C4 went off, blowing up and taking out all the eggs and Sammaels at once. Will crawled out of the water when the water splashed up from the shockwave.

"Whew…that was close." Will laid on the ground and took some deep breaths as he saw the agents tending to Abe. "Abe, you ok?"

"Yes. Thank you." Abe said to him.

"Don't mention it." He replied. "Fitz-Simmons Abe is ok, and the eggs are taken care of."

"Good because there was some trouble. Hellboy and one of the monsters ended up on an active subway station." Fitz told him, seeing the footage via security cameras. "We called in a team to take care of the remains, but people saw the fight."

"Fitz, run some interference if you can on the footage but looks like the cat's out of the bag now. HB, you ok?" Will radioed.

"I'm fine. [Groans] Stinky's dead. Again. Lost sight of the gimp." Hellboy remarked.

"Good for you because I got lost." Jack pointed out, finding himself in the maze of the old subway station. The drone was still with him, but he had no idea where to go.

"All right, regroup with us and let's get out of here." Will told him.

Jack nodded when his hearing picked up some movement, so he turned around and saw Kroenen walk into view. Jack held up the Glock-17 and aimed it at him. "Don't move." Jack warned him.

Kroenen turned the dial on his chest and reached for his sword, so Jack emptied the magazine of bullets all around his body with the armor stopping them but when he hit flesh, he didn't get blood. Just sand. Jack kept firing until the gun was empty, but Kroenen was still alive. "Crap…"

Kroenen removed his sword and attacked, swiping and slashing with his sword but Jack moved with incredibly human agility to dodge. Clearly his Lycanthropy had some other advantages, but he wasn't exactly a fighter. Kroenen managed to slash him across the side and then up the chest before kicking him to the ground. Jack groaned in pain as his muscles bulged against the skin, his hands started to tremble, his nails started to sharpen, and his breathing got ragged. Kroenen tilted his head in confusion as Jack groaned and tried to control his Lycanthropy.

"Control…control…" Jack groaned as he knew that he was likely going to turn. His eyes were turning from their normal human shape into the slit-shape of his werewolf form. He would likely kill Kroenen but also attack anything else including the others.

[Sharp whistles]

Kroenen and Jack turned around and saw a dripping wet Will holding his grenade launcher. "Should have stayed dead, Kraut. Jack, move!"

Jack rolled to the side as Will fired a grenade round right into Kroenen's stomach. The Nazi looked at him and tilted his head in confusion before his entire upper half exploded into bits. No blood but plenty of sand and body parts. The lower half was surprisingly in one piece, and it flopped to the ground. Jack's transformation stopped and receded, his body and mind no longer sensing he was in danger. He looked up and saw the dead half of the Nazi assassin and the body part scattered around.

"Jack, you ok?" Will asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Jack got up and saw Kroenen's head nearby. Part of his helmet was blown of so he could see the scarred, unnatural face with the lipless mouth and lidless eyes. "Ugh…"

Will walked over and saw the skull so he took out his pistol and emptied the entire magazine into it, turning it into goo. "He's not getting up from that." Will quipped.

"How the hell was he up and around at all? No blood, no organs. Just sand." Jack noticed.

"I'm not sure but he's not walking away from that." Will pointed out when he saw Jack pull something from Kroenen's belt. It was an old letter, so he opened it and inside were two old pieces of parchment that had Cyrillic writing on them. "What's that?"

"Another piece of the puzzle." Jack said when he crinkled his nose after getting a pungent, awful smell. He turned and sniffed Will. "You smell awful."

"I know."

BPRD Headquarters, New Jersey

Back at the BPRD, Coulson, May, Ward, and Skye returned with Liz who agreed to come back. Professor Broom was waiting for them along with some of the agents who knew her, and they were all happy.

"Welcome back." He opened his arms, and she gave him a hug.

"It's only for the weekend, Professor Broom." She told him.

"Just having you back here at all is plenty." Broom told her. "We missed you. I missed you."

"I missed you too." She told him when they heard the elevator ding and out came some agents in a rush. Abe was on a gurney being tended to by some agents.

"Oh my god. Are you guys, ok?" Skye asked.

"We're fine. Simmons!" Will shouted and she rushed over with some medical supplies.

"I'm here." She inserted a needle into Abe's arm to help him with the pain and read his vitals. "His vitals are stable. I've got the tank already waiting for him."

"You're gonna be fine, Brother Blue." Hellboy promised as the agents and Simmons escorted him to the medical lab.

"What happened?" Coulson asked.

"Abe got hurt but we got the eggs and all the Sammael duplicates out there. And as an added bonus…" Will looked over at some of the agents carting some boxes and bags. They were sealed but they saw Kroenen's swords on the cart along with his dented chest plate.

"One less Nazi for us to worry about." Jack pointed out when he saw Liz. "Liz?"

Hellboy looked over and saw she was back. "Liz?"

"Hey guys." She greeted them and Jack came over and gave her a hug.

"Good to see you, Liz." He said to her as the larger service elevator dinged and out came Ted. He saw Liz and was happy, so he came over and joined the group hug, squeezing them both.

"Oh, Ted. Ease up." She begged and Ted did. "Good to see you too."

"You came back." Hellboy said.

"Just for a bit." Liz said, looking over at Coulson and the others. "They were convincing."

"Well, uh…it's, uh…glad to—um, glad to have you back." Hellboy stuttered out.

Liz nodded and grabbed her bags before heading to her old room. The Professor always kept it open to her.

"Smooth, HB." Jack patted him on the shoulder with Ted agreeing and doing the same before they went to their rooms.

"You said I was special, and you were right, HB? I'm good with people and Coulson is even better." Will remarked. "I delivered, didn't I?"

"Yeah, yeah. No one likes and I told you so, kid." Hellboy hit him in the stomach with his stone hand before heading to his room to get cleaned up.

Will rubbed his stomach and smiled at Coulson and the others. "How'd you, do it?"

"Like you said, we're good with people. And we have experience with people like Ms. Sherman. She just needs some help and luckily for her, that's what we do best." Coulson answered.

"We did good." Skye smiled when she and the others smelled something awful and pungent, and it was coming from Will. He may have dried off, but the old dirty reservoir water pretty much made him smell like a wet dog mixed with an old dumpster. "What did you do, jump into the sewer?"

"No. The old reservoir." He corrected her.

"You stink." May told him.

"I know. Everyone else already told me. Worst car ride ever." Will muttered as he left to go get cleaned up.

One special SHIELD disinfecting shower later plus three more with the most powerful shampoo and soap that the BPRD had, and Will finally got rid of the horrible smell. Downside, he sort of smelled like a powerful bleach cleaner, but it was better than the bad smell he had before. He walked down the halls in some fresh clothes with a towel over his head, drying his hair. As he walks down the hall, he sees Liz walk out of a room with Skye, Fitz-Simmons, and Ward. "Hey, Will. Cleaned up?"

"Yeah, after one very extensive and uncomfortable disinfecting shower and three more with industrial grade cleaners, I finally got the smell off me." Will smiled as he gave himself a sniff but scrunched. "Downside, I smell a little like bleach."

"Better then what you smelled like before at least." Skye pointed out.

"What are you guys doing?" Will wondered.

"We're going out to get some fresh air. Maybe some food and coffee. Want to come?" Simmons asked.

"No, after the day I've had I think I'll head to bed early. Have fun." Will told them before heading to one of the many barracks in the base to get some sleep. He called his friends Grant, Daisy, and Tabitha, the latter being the one watching over Goose while he went to Crystal Lake and while he was at the BPRD. Tabitha was doing better, still recovering from what Kilgrave did but getting there. And cuddling with Goose helped as well. He promised to come pick up Goose soon the second his mission was done and laid down, the second his head hit the pillow he conked out.

Skye and Fitz-Simmons took Liz out for some air and food with Ward coming, mainly as their protection. He wasn't exactly people friendly like the others were. They got some pizza at a good place nearby in Newark and then went to get some coffee and donuts before just walking, enjoying the brisk fall weather. They were just talking, getting Liz to relax and such and easing her mindset. Helping break down the extensive walls she had and just talking to her like she was a regular person. Being treated different was the problem so they just treated her like any normal person. They talked about random things but eventually got to talking about her relationship with Hellboy.

"He's a bit abrasive but he's funny. He cares about people. And he's strong. Very strong and he's saved plenty of people." Simmons said.

"Yeah, that he is. It's given him an ego." Liz pointed out.

"Well, if I was like him then I'd be the same." Skye remarked. "But that doesn't mean he doesn't have a good heart underneath."

"I know." Liz agreed. "It's just…sometimes I'm not sure about him. It's like I know he's a good person deep down but the rest of him…it's a bit much."

"It's probably just overcompensation. He's different. I mean, more different than the rest of us." Simmons pointed out and they agreed. Ward decided to put his two cents into the mix.

"But from what we've seen and what the Professor has said he really does care about you, Ms. Sherman. And no one's perfect. My uncle used to say that we like people for their qualities, but we love them for their defects. We have to take the good with the bad." Ward told her and that got everyone thinking.

"Oh, look at that. Ward's heart just grew three sizes tonight." Skye joked and they chuckled.

"He loves you, you know." Simmons said to Liz, and she nodded. "But how do you feel?"

"I don't know. I grew up with him but now every time I see him, I get confused. There's hardly a day that goes by that he's not in my mind. Even now. I feel like he's here." Liz said, unaware of how right she was as Hellboy had snuck out and was jumping from rooftop to rooftop, watching them.

"That sounds like every single relationship out there." Skye remarked. They continued chatting with Hellboy watching over them.

Back at the BPRD, most of the base was quiet with the night crew on active duty. Everyone else had either gone to the barracks to sleep or left the base for the homes. Will was one of them conked out on a cot in dreamland. The Professor was still up, having just analyzed what remains of Kroenen and there was a lot to see. The man was practically dead, even before Will shot him with a grenade so clearly, he had done something to keep him up and running for 70 years. That's when he found the letter with two slips of paper in it. There was a third piece missing so he put it onto a scanner to try and reconstruct it.

"Professor?"

Broom looked up and saw Coulson walk by. "Agent Coulson? Still up I see."

"Just walking to clear my head. What about you?" Coulson asked, seeing the scanner running on two pieces of paper. "What is that?"

"Something Jack found on Kroenen's body. Another piece of the puzzle." Broom said when the scanner finished reconstructing the piece of paper and filled in the Cyrillic writing. "Sebastian Plackba. Number 16. Moscow."

"You think Kroenen had this on him on purpose?" Coulson asked and Broom nodded. "Rasputin?"

"But why?" Broom wondered as he looked around the library for an old book on Russian history. Broom sorted through the pages on the Romanov family and there was a chapter on Rasputin. He read through it and found out the answer. "Sebastian Plackba. Number 16. It's Rasputin's mausoleum. This has been his plan all along."

"Very good, Professor Broom."

Coulson pulled out his gun and turned, aiming it at Rasputin who was sitting on a chair in the library. Somehow, the man got into the BPRD past all the guards, sensors, and security doors. "Don't move." Coulson warned him.

"It was you. The scraps of paper. Liz's sudden relapse and return." Broom put the pieces together.

"Bread crumbs on the trail, like in a fable. They both distract him and guide him exactly where I need him." Rasputin said.

"Moscow."

"His destiny. And the last clue will be left by the late Professor Broom." Rasputin said only for Coulson to pull the hammer back on his pistol.

"Not gonna happen." Coulson warned him only for Rasputin to chuckle.

"I've been shot with bullets before, little man. Stabbed, beaten, drowned…I've endured tortures of the like which you couldn't possibly imagine. I do not fear man…" Rasputin said before he suddenly vanished and appeared right next to Coulson. "…man fears me."

Coulson turned to shoot him, but Rasputin disarmed him of his gun, grabbed him by the arm and then threw him across the library showing magically enhanced strength. Coulson crashed through a table and hit the ground hard. Professor Broom didn't show an ounce of fear despite seeing Coulson taken out and as Rasputin walked over to him.

"You raised the child, nurtured him, so in return, I will permit you a brief, brief glimpse of the future." Rasputin touched his head and showed him a vision. The world was engulfed in flames, the sky blotted out with thick clouds of red smoke and Cthulhu-like tentacles destroyed buildings. Avengers tower was blown to bits and the decayed skeletons of the Avengers littered the ground. The reason he knew it was the Avengers was because of the items around said skeletons. One had Iron Man's armor around it, another Captain America's shield, another a hammer, etc. New York was in ruins as the Apocalypse had come to earth and at the center of it was Hellboy. His horn stumps elongated to their full shape, his stone hand was glowing, and he had a burning red crown over his head. "He will open the portal and bring about the end of the world. If only you had him destroyed 70 years ago, none of this would have come to past but then how could you have known? Your god chooses to remain silent. Mine lives within me. Every time I died and cross over, a little more…of the master came back with me."

Rasputin held up his hand to show something moving under his skin, like something was alive. "He disclosed to me the child's true name. Would you like to know it?"

"I know what to call him. I call him…Son." Professor Broom placed his rosary on the book and took a deep breath. "I'm ready."

Rasputin placed his hand over the Professor's, almost in a manner of respect. "I'll make it quick."

His hand began glowing with a green magical aura and he raised it to the Professor's head when he body suddenly froze in place. Professor Broom looked at Rasputin and saw his body shaking like he was trying to move but something was preventing him. Rasputin's face tensed up with his muscles bulging against his skin and his face turning red like he was exerting extreme force, or something was exerting extreme force on him. "What…what is this?" Rasputin uttered.

"A lesson in manners." Professor Broom and Rasputin turned their heads to see Will standing in the library in his casual clothes. His left hand held forward glowing blue as were his eyes. "You don't barge into someone's house without permission."

With a flick of the wrist, Rasputin was thrown up into the ceiling hitting with a loud, powerful crash before he was slammed into the ground and then thrown into railing of the winding staircase. He hit the ground as Will rushed over to the Professor. "Professor, are you ok?" He asked and got a nod in response. He turned and saw Rasputin was gone. "Where'd he go?"

"Russia." The professor answered as they heard Coulson groan.

"Coulson." Will rushed over and helped him up. "You, ok?"

"Yeah. Rasputin?" Coulson asked.

"He's gone. I sensed something was going on so I rushed over as fast as I could. Got here just in time before he could kill the Professor." Will helped him back to his feet. "What did he want?"

"To show me his final plan. Everything that has happened, Liz's relapse, Sammael's return…it's all been a part of his plan. He needs Hellboy for this plan to work." The Professor told them. "Thank you, Agent Detmer. Agent Coulson was right that you are special."

"Don't mention it, Professor." Will assured him. "So, where are we going?"

"Russia. That is where he is…and that is where we can end this…once and for all." Professor Broom told them.

"All right then. Wheels up in 48 hours." Coulson said and Will nodded.

November 2013: Russia

Coulson and his team provided escort for Hellboy and the others to Russia to end Rasputin and his plan for good. They knew where he was hiding, and they knew his plan, so it was time to finally end this fight. Hearing that Rasputin broke into the BPRD and nearly killed the Professor got everyone up in arms, especially Hellboy but luckily Coulson and Will were there. They said that Will managed to nick Rasputin with a knife when he tried to kill the Professor and he vanished after that. Thankfully there were no cameras in the library, and it was just the three of them. The Professor explained what happened and why Rasputin arrived, letting them know of the prophecy and plan he had for Hellboy, how everything he had done was a part of his plan which included Sammael, making an army, and Liz, using her to manipulate Hellboy. Hellboy was pissed as was Liz as Rasputin caused her relapse and that she was actually fine, there was nothing wrong with her and she somehow was part of his plan.

The good news was now that they knew what Rasputin was planning and that Liz was part of it, they could prep in advance. They were still heading to Rasputin's Mausoleum because that's where he was and that's where they'd kill him, but Liz would stay behind. If she was a part of this, then keeping her out of this for now was the best option. And now that they knew Rasputin was going to be there, they'd be ready for a trap with extra SHIELD teams coming in for backup. They'd meet them there and head to the Volokolamsk Fields 50 miles from Moscow. That's where Sebastian Plackba Number 16 was. Rasputin's Mausoleum.

The area was clear enough that the BUS could hover down right next to the area, saving them a trip. Local SHIELD teams were already there waiting as the BUS hovered down into position and landed. Will was suited up in the cargo bay of the BUS with a bag of guns and explosives along some BPRD SHIELD Agents, Hellboy, Jack, and Man-Thing. Abe and Liz were back at the BPRD with the Professor. Coulson and the others were in the cargo bay for the briefing.

"This is it. Sebastian Plackba Number 16. Rasputin's Mausoleum. It's less of a Mausoleum and more of an entire graveyard with various crypts and tombs. Satellite scans of the area show a perimeter of four-square miles and in the center is where we're getting the largest electromagnetic interference so that's where Rasputin will be." Coulson showed them the tablet with a map of the area.

"The backup teams will secure the four-square mile perimeter and salt the area, keeping anything from leaving in case Rasputin has any Sammael eggs in there. We'll move into the center of the graveyard, move in and take out Rasputin before he unleashes the Apocalypse. We find him, blow his brains out, salt and burn his bones to make sure he can't come back, celebrate with some vodka and caviar and call it a night." Will suggested.

"Oh, like the sound of that." Hellboy said and Ted agreed. "All right, Midnight Suns…let's go."

Fitz hit the cargo bay ramp and it opened up. Hellboy lit his cigar, Jack adjusted the collar to his heavy winter jacket and Ted…well, Ted was looking at Will who saw he was being stared at, so he took out a piece of Salt Water Taffy and gave it to him. "Just so you know you've eaten through my whole supply." Will pointed out as he and the others BPRD agents walked out of the plane with Hellboy, Jack, and Man-Thing.

"Sir, you sure we shouldn't go with them?" Ward asked Coulson.

"We're needed running backend, Agent Ward. Believe me, we'd just get in the way." Coulson told him.

"If it's any consolation, I also agree that Fitz-Simmons and I would just get in the way." Skye agreed.

"Sir, but Will is going in with the BPRD team. Shouldn't May and I assist him?" Ward suggested.

"He can handle himself, Agent Ward. Trust me. Let's focus on our job. Fitz-Simmons, get the drones in the air and keep a watchful eye for the go team and help the other teams get the rock salt from storage." Coulson said with the team groaning in annoyance.

"I'll get the winter jackets." Skye grumbled, walking to the storage unit.

Will and other BPRD agents broke the chain lock on the graveyard and made their way in while the other agents secured the surrounding perimeter and began pouring rock salt around, ensuring that no demons could escape. Will took out a portable handheld EMF scanner that Fitz-Simmons were able to rig up. Much smaller than the ones the BPRD currently used as those models were the size of laptops but this one was handheld and still accurate. Will moved it around slowly, watching the nodes on the scanner for any activity. No EMF activity and the nodes were red but green meant they picked up something. The scans were roughly in the middle but getting stronger the closer they made it to the center of the giant graveyard.

"This way." Will led them forward through the graveyard. While the EMF reader was their way to go, being in a graveyard the readings were getting muddled the closer they got to the center likely because of all the graves so Will used his telekinetic sense to guide him. It allowed him to sense what the others couldn't, and he felt the same weird aura from the museum alleyway. It was Rasputin's so he was following it. The others followed Will's lead through the graveyard, but they didn't know what he knew so they weren't sure where he was leading them.

"You sure you know where you're going, kid? That EMF reader isn't exactly gonna go you much good this deep into a graveyard." Hellboy pointed out. "Hey, Jack. Think your werewolf nose could pick him out?"

"Sure, HB if you don't mind fighting him while I'm at it." Jack remarked.

"No…we're close." Will stopped them at a large crypt entrance. "This is it."

"What makes you so sure this is it?" Hellboy wondered.

"This is where the EMF reading is the strongest. And also…" Will pointed to the ground where there was an uneven patch of snow-covered ground like someone had been through here before. And he brushed off some of the snow and picked up some yellowish powder mixed with snow.

"Sulfur." Jack said and Will nodded.

"Yup. This is it." Will tapped his ear comm. "Coulson, we found the tomb. We're about to head in."

"All right. We'll monitor everything from here." Coulson told him.

"Will, before you go. Look into your bag and pull out what looks like a silver stake with a sensor board at the end." Fitz told him so Will removed his back and looked through it. He pulled out a grenade belt and managed to find it stuffed next to his shotgun.

"Got it. What is it, Fitz?" Will wondered, taking it out.

"That is something I've been working on recently. It's a subsonic mapping device. It uses subsonic waves to slowly map out an environment and then feeds that data to a server to give me real time data on an area." Fitz told him as Will stabbed it into the ground next to the door and turned it on. It let out subsonic waves that slowly fed into the system Fitz was monitoring, giving him a 3-D layout of the area. "The data is coming through and it's a lot. It looks like there are miles of tunnels down there but I'm picking up a strong electromagnetic signal down there. I can guide you down to it."

"Good looking out, Fitz." Will praised.

"Let's get the show on the road." Hellboy walked over and punched the door to the crypt open with his stone hand. He pulled out his revolver and made his way down with the others following. After going down a lot of stairs they arrived in what looked like the main crypt area. It was an open area with various doorways that likely lead to either dead ends or elsewhere in the miles of tunnels beneath them. There were walls with shelves of sarcophaguses and dozens if not hundreds of human skulls decorating the place. And a large, spiky chandelier on the glass ceiling so they got what was left of the outside light illuminating the place. "We'll be all right as long as we don't separate."

They heard some loud rumbling and large iron walls came up from the ground, cutting everyone off from each other and splitting them into groups. The walls were easily two feet thick, made of solid iron, and sharp spikes flipped down, keeping them back. Will was with the other agents cut off from Hellboy, Jack, and Ted.

[Growling] Ted shook his head at Hellboy.

"You really had to say that didn't you?" Jack pointed out.

"Relax, guys. It's just iron. We packed for that." Will and some of the agents removed their packs and pulled out round silver plastic explosive charges. They placed them on the iron wall separating them from Hellboy. Two straight lines of four going up about ten feet with five feet separating them. The agents then connected some primer cord between the charges and stepped back after lighting the cord. The cord burst into flames, melting into the iron but when the charges were ignited, they began melting through the iron like a lightsaber would through metal. About 15 seconds passed and the eight plastic explosive charges had completely melted holes into the iron wall so Hellboy and the others could see Will and the agents. "Think you could give it a good smack?"

Hellboy nodded and wound up a punch before hitting the wall with his stone hand, taking out part of the melted wall. A few more and he punched through the weakened parts, making a small exit he and Jack could get through. Ted did as well but it took a bit of crouching and squeezing. "What was that?" Jack wondered.

"Byrithe-thermite. Something SHIELD came up with. It'll melt through several feet of iron and steel no problem." Will answered. "So, it looks like Rasputin knows we're here."

"Yeah, he does. So, let's take care of him and get that vodka." Hellboy suggested.

"Right. Fitz, can you give us a heading?" Will wondered. Fitz checked the subsonic scans which had mapped out most of the area by now including the miles of tunnels.

"Head down the passage to your right. That should take you straight to the EMF signal but be careful. Those tunnels are old, and the scans show that there are some collapsed passages so it could get snug."

"Be careful, Will." Coulson told him.

"Roger that. Let's go." Will took out a flashlight and led the way.

An hour later…

The going was slow as the tunnels of the mausoleum got cramped and decades of wear and tear along with crumbled parts from the ceiling caused things to get cramped. Hellboy and Ted had to squeeze through the narrow corridors as best they could, but it wasn't enough, so Hellboy just punched through them to give them more room. Rasputin already knew they were coming so there was no point in being subtle.

The deeper they went the stronger the EMF readings Will was getting on his reader. "We're going in the right direction for sure. Fitz, you have any idea what's ahead of us?" Will radioed to him.

"The scans are still coming in and it's still mapping out the area, but it looks like there is one large open area further up ahead so there could be something there. Keep moving about 300 feet and take the path to your left." Fitz told him.

"Thanks, Fitz."

"Let's hurry up. I'm starting to get claustrophobic down here." Hellboy said as they kept walking. They arrived at a split in the path so Will took the left one. Hellboy was next followed by Jack and then Ted who managed to squeeze through, but his squeezing ended up causing the ceiling to collapse and cut them off from the others.

"Well, that's not good." Jack admitted.

"Fitz, radio the others and give them a route either to meet up with us or to get back topside." Will told him.

"Got it."

"We have to keep moving." Will said.

"Think that was Rasputin?" Jack wondered.

"It definitely wasn't a coincidence." Hellboy pointed out as they kept walking. About a hundred feet ahead there was an opening to their right and it was a hallway, so they took it and at the end they arrived in an old church. A church buried underground in the mausoleum. They saw an altar at the far side with an angel holding a key up above and next to the altar was a white stone pillar, a monolith with Latin inscriptions and two large holes like keyholes. At said altar was a man in a robe and a woman next to him.

That wasn't all there was as the church was also home to the mother nest for Sammael as they were several clusters of eggs along with dozens of Sammael monsters protecting them.

"This is not good." Jack admitted. They didn't expect to see Sammael there as they thought they had dealt with him and all the eggs but clearly Rasputin had kept one and built up a small army.

"This is bad. This is very bad…" Will muttered, quickly tapping his ear comm. "Coulson…we've got a situation here…"

[Bzzzt—Bzzzt]

"Coulson come in…" Will radioed but just got static. "Radio's gone to shit."

"Ok. Let's back up slowly…" Jack said, and they slowly did, thinking they weren't seen but when they turned to leave a heavy stone gate closed in from the side and sealed them inside the area. "Ok…that's not an option."

By now all the Sammael's noticed their presence and were ready for their meal.

"And I looked and beheld an angel, and in his right hand the key to the bottomless pit." Rasputin said before turning to look at the four heroes here to stop him. "These were the words I heard as a peasant boy in Tobolsk. And now, here I am. The door, the monolith sent by the Ogdru Jahad so that they might at long last enter our world."

"You are the key. The right hand of doom. Your stone hand. What did you think it was made for?" Isla asked as Hellboy looked at his stone hand. "Imagine it. An Eden…for you and your friends. For your love."

"I have lived long enough to know that not a tear will be shed for this world. This world is beyond saving. Open the door and introduce paradise. OPEN IT!" Rasputin shouted.

[Bang]

Rasputin's tirade was abruptly ended as he felt horrendous pain, seeing his left hand and forearm completely blown off. Isla rushed over to tend to her beloved. "AH! AH!"

Hellboy's revolver was aimed at him, the barrel smoking from the bullet he just fired. "Nice shot." Will praised.

"I missed. I was aiming for his head." Hellboy replied. "It's over, Rasputin. Why don't you make it easier on yourself and die for real this time."

"You fools…you will open the key! You will be the key! KILL THEM ALL!" Rasputin shouted and the Sammaels roared.

"Jacky boy…time for you to wolf out." Hellboy told him and Jack nodded, removing his winter jacket. "Kid, stay back and let us handle this."

Hellboy reloaded his revolver and Ted stepped forward, growling as he did. The two monsters stood side by side as Jack removed his heavy clothing and anything important from his person before going over to Will and lifting his arm. "Sorry, I just need your scent." Jack gave his arm a powerful sniff before he walked forward, and his body began to tense up. "Stay away from me. [GROANS!]"

Jack fell to his knees and hunched over as his fingers elongated and his nails sharpened into claws before he opened his eyes and his usual brown pupils turned into slitted one and were yellow. "Ah…RGH…GAH!" Jack's body tensed as he thrashed and struggled through his transformation. Will witnessed something both awe inspiring and terrifying as Jack's body ripped through his shirt, his feet burst through his boots and his toenails elongated into claws like his hands. His ears elongated like an animals, his teeth turned into razor sharp fangs and his nose grew like that of a wolves.

"AAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!"

Jack Russel was no more and instead came Werewolf by Night. The Lycan growled at Will before turning his gaze to the hellhounds, sensing they were the greater threat and slowly stalked over joining Hellboy and Ted.

"Happy to have you with us, wolfie." Hellboy said as Jack growled. "Let's get to work."

Hellboy fired the four shots of his revolver, blasting four of the hellhounds before he, Ted and Jack rushed forward. Ted backhanded one hellhound away before grabbing another and burning it alive. Jack leapt forward and began attacking with slashes via his claws, taking off chunks of flesh as he did. One of the hellhounds grabbed Jack from behind but Hellboy grabbed its leg and pulled it off before punching it in the face. He bashed it once more in the head before throwing it aside into Ted who caught it and burned it with his powers before ripping its head off.

[ROAR!]

Ted picked up hellhound over his head when another tackled him to the ground. He was dogpiled but Jack leapt into the air, crawling along the walls before jumping down onto one of the hounds and taking a piece out of its back with his teeth. It shrieked in pain before Jack clawed it across its face and took out two of its eyes.

"Get the hell off!" Hellboy threw a hellhound off him and then rushed over, pulling the other hellhound off of Ted. Ted got up and smashed the hellhounds in the faces before knocking the others back left and right with his super strength, but the demons were too many for the three of them and the eggs were beginning to hatch.

"Shit!" Will opened his back and quickly took out his grenade launcher. He checked to make sure it was loaded which it was with HE rounds so he fired one at a cluster of Sammaels, blowing them to bits and taking out some eggs. He turned, firing another grenade at a cluster of eggs which is when the hellhounds noticed him. "HEY, MUTTS! OVER HERE!"

Will fired the rest of his grenades in his launcher taking out clusters of them, and some newborns but there were still at least 20 of them and more being born by the second with the eggs. Hellboy bashed one with his stone fist when he saw them going for Will. "KID!"

The Sammaels leapt through the air at him when they suddenly froze in place. Hellboy, Jack, and Ted looked on and saw Will's body was glowing with a blue aura. Then a mask came up around his collar and formed his Aegis mask. Will had worn his Aegis suit underneath everything in the likely event he would need it, which he did.

"My turn."

The hellhounds in his immediate area shook before exploding into chunky bits. The ones around Hellboy and the others were frozen in place, so they quickly took them out. Hellboy reloaded his pistol and blew their brains out, Ted burnt them alive, and Jack slashed them with his claws and ripped out chunks of flesh. More and more hellhounds were born but were frozen in place as Will walked over to the others and exploded them into chunky pieces of flesh.

He raised his hands like he was summoning forth something and then with forceful shove he used his fire manipulation to unleash a literal wave of fire out from his position. It was so hot it melted part of the ground around him as the hellhounds were burnt into ash and the eggs were roasted alive. It took all of five seconds and the army was gone. Will then looked over at the monolith and with a snap of his fingers used his telekinesis to break it into pieces.

Hellboy and Ted walked over to Will. "Aren't you full of surprises, kid? You waited until now to reveal this to us? Couldn't you have done this sooner?"

"I really only use my powers if the situation needs it. In this case, it needed it." Will said, as his mask shrunk back down into his collar.

"You insignificant, worthless, piece of trash!" Isla shouted at him, slowly walking over to them in pure anger. "Do you have any idea what you've done?! What forces you have meddled with! You do not know the glory we would have brought to his world! The glory of our new Eden! You filthy—AH!"

Isla didn't get to finish as Jack leapt onto her and proceeded to rip her throat out along before eviscerating her. "That takes care of that." Will pointed out as they walked over to Rasputin.

"You will never fulfill your destiny. You will never understand the power inside you." Rasputin said to him, holding the stump of his left arm in pain.

"I'll just have to find a way to live with that. I'm happy with what I am and what I have." Hellboy said, raising his revolver at Rasputin.

"Child…look what you've done." Rasputin said as something moved inside his body. "You've killed me. An insignificant man but you have brought forth…a God— [Four Gunshots]

Hellboy unloaded his revolver into Rasputin's face and body, reducing his head into mush and pretty much bifurcating him. Then a greyish Cthulhu monster slipped out of his body, about the size of a dog and began growing but before it could do more Ted grabbed it in his hands and proceeded to burn it alive with his powers. It shrieked in pain as Ted's powers burnt its form until it was nothing more than a charred husk which he then threw clear across the room, and it exploded into ashes.

"Well, neither he nor that thing are getting up from that." Will remarked, levitating a jar of salt from his bad and dumping it onto the body before taking out some pellets from his pocket and tossing them onto Rasputin's body, setting it ablaze and it wouldn't stop burning until it was ashes.

[Growling]

Will turned and saw Jack growling at him, ready to take a bite. "Easy, Jack. We won. The kid's a friend. You smelled him, remember?" Hellboy eased him down.

"Let me guess? Doesn't have much control in his werewolf state?" Will asked and got a nod from Ted. "Let me try something."

Will's eyes glowed blue which made Jack's eyes glow too. He was using his telepathy to calm him down and hopefully give Jack's mind more control in his werewolf form. Granted, he wasn't exactly familiar with a werewolf brain, but he could see that the adrenaline rushing through Jack's brain was the highest he had ever seen in a human which makes some sense given that it was likely part of the werewolf experience. Jack was temporarily frozen while Will worked things out, but he thinks he may have found something. Jack's amygdala was unnaturally supercharged putting him in a heighted anger state likely explaining a werewolf's tendencies for violence when triggered. The problem with the werewolf was that the amygdala was so overcharged it was preventing the flow of brain synapses from the cerebral cortex which are the higher order thinking parts of the brain. Essentially, he was cut off from his rational, conscious mind and made an aggressive animal. So, Will cleaned up the brain activity to give Jack some more control.

A few more seconds and Will ended his little telepathic brain surgery. Their eyes stopped glowing and Jack stumbled around, reaching up a hand to hold his head. "Ugh…"

"Jack?" Hellboy called out.

"HB? Wha—What happened?" Jack stuttered when he realized something. He looked at his hands and saw they were furry, and he had claws. He patted himself around and felt more fur getting the realization that he was in his werewolf state, yet he was lucid and could think. All he could think to ask was summed up in one word. "How?"

"Don't look at me." Hellboy and Ted looked over at Will.

"I'm a telepath and to prevent you from trying to eat me I checked out your brain. I think I figured out why you don't have control, so I made a quick fix. It looks like it's working since you're not looking at me like you want to eat my heart but I'm not sure on the specifics with a werewolf. We can work that out later." Will suggested.

"Right…thanks, Will. This means a lot, even if it's only temporary." Jack told him.

"No problem." Will replied as they looked around. All the hellhounds were dead along with the eggs, Rasputin and his lover were gone, so was his Nazi Assassin and his final attempt at a win with that little Cthulhu monster is dead too so looks like they won. "Looks like things are done here."

"Yup." Hellboy took out his cigar and lit it. "All's well that ends well. I thought he'd be tougher but just another mad Russian."

"Will—Will! Will! Come in!" Coulson shouted over the comms that came back on line.

"I read you Coulson."

"Finally. We lost your comm signal for a while. What happened?"

"We found Rasputin. Took care of him. But we could use a cleanup crew." Will told him as they walked over to remove that door blocking their exit.

Unbeknownst to them, a yellowish portal shimmered into existence and quickly absconded with the pieces of the destroyed monolith, whisking away the doorway to the dimension where the Ogdru Jahad resided. Ted turned around, thinking he heard something but saw nothing, so he shrugged his shoulders and joined the others.

The monolith was destroyed and the mysterious people responsible for its disappearance would make sure it would never see the light of day again.

Unknown location

Various monitors lit up in a dark, unknown location showing silhouetted figures on a conference call.

"One of my agents informed me that they successfully ended Rasputin and his endeavors."

"That old fossil was a madman. Hydra aligning with him back during the war was a foolish endeavor."

"One that we will not need to worry about anymore."

"It would seem that Fury has kept a few secrets hidden from us. Do we have any agents in the BPRD?"

"None so far but that can be changed."

"Do it. They could prove useful."

"What intrigues me more is this new SHIELD team. They've found themselves in the epicenter of various conflicts of ours including Quantum and Project Centipede."

"It's nothing more than a ragtag group for one of Fury's favorite. They are nothing."

"I would normally agree with you, but they've proven themselves to be formidable."

"It doesn't matter. Our plans are proceeding as intended. Project Insight is on schedule and no one in SHIELD is aware. We proceed as planned. Hail Hydra."

"Hail Hydra!"

End of Chapter 19

1). Gael Garcia Bernal and Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night.

2). Ted AKA Man-Thing.

Hope you guys liked the chapter. Hellboy is here and we've also got Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing. The Midnight Suns are here and after seeing the MCU Werewolf by Night Special I knew I wanted to use them in the MCU, so it made sense to combine them with the BPRD. They'll come back to help deal with supernatural threats in the Marvel Universe.

Next chapter, Coulson and the team get back to their regular scheduled program of SHIELD chaos and tangle with Project Centipede again but face three of their super soldiers. They're now on the track of an unknown enemy and Coulson gets closer to the secrets behind his resurrection and what happened to him. Until next time.
