I'm gonna be busy the next week due to work, but want to finally finish this now I'm at the finish line so I'll be writing and publishing on my days off. I'll be going with the option of them getting their season 1 memories alongside this, just so they have the impact for season 2.
I plan to upload this tonight and I Heard A Rumour either tonight or tomorrow morning. I've written the script portions for I Heard A Rumour, Changes and The White Violin today as well, Changes I'm hoping to upload Sunday, though if I'm lucky, maybe even on Saturday as no Halloween party this year, thanks Covid. As for The White Violin, even though I'm a Brit I do watch US and UK election coverage all night when they happen, so during the election itself, probably about midnight Wednesday East coast time, I'll upload that, finishing season 1.
The scene opened up to hear Pogo talking once more "On the seventh hour of the first day of October, 1989, a woman went into labour. This was unusual in no way whatsoever, the culmination of a normal, average pregnancy. The child was average in every way. Unfortunately for the world, the circumstances of his raising was anything but."
"So, this Harold Jenkins was born on the same day as us?" Diego asked.
"But completely normal, but what does he have to do with causing the end of the world?" Allison wondered.
"If you idiots would just watch, I'm sure we'll find out." Five snarled at them. He was so close to figuring out how to stop it, he couldn't wait any longer.
The scene showed a young man playing with Umbrella Academy action figures as if he was one of them, fighting Doctor Terminal.
"Wow, it's been a while since we had to deal with that psycho." Klaus remarked.
As he did this, his father stumbled through the door, drunk, as Harold ran to get him some alcohol, he picked up an Umbrella Academy comic mentioning a rare Sir Reginald Hargreeves figurine, his father yelling. Engrossed in the comic, he missed his father entering the kitchen, until he struck his son.
"Hey!" Allison protested, seeing this happen. It didn't matter that this kid was meant to be cause the end of the world, this abuse could be a factor as to why he did.
The scene changed to show Harold stitching his own Umbrella Academy uniform, tears streaming as he did.
"I feel for the poor kid." Diego grumbled.
As the Umbrella Academy came back from a public function, surrounded by fans, he tried to grab Allison's hand as he snuck under the barricades, only to be pushed back by Luther.
"Wait, I remember this." Luther said with a frown.
"Yeah, so do I." Allison replied. "When was it again, just as Five disappeared?"
"Yeah, I didn't think much about it, just an eager little fan." Luther said. "Damn, guess I was wrong about it being unimportant."
Reginald told him to get back, Harold trying to beg that he was like them, with Reginald dismissing him as ordinary, telling him that ordinary people shouldn't strive to be great, as they would only disappoint themselves. Then he threw Harold aside as the crowd laughed at him.
"Well, Dad has always been a dick, that's not new, but I don't recall the crowd laughing at the poor kid." Klaus mused. "Maybe he's imaging that part to paint us and dear old dad as the villains in his story?"
As Harold returned home, his father hit him again, seeing him dressed up like the Umbrella Academy kids, with his father angrily demanded another beer from him, as Harold left the room, he grabbed a hammer, coming up behind his father and striking him over and over again in the head.
"Oh God." Vanya said, putting her hand over her mouth in shock. That was heartless, this Harold guy may have been abused, but he was clearly a sicko in his own way.
"He got twelve years." The screen read.
"Little kid, history of abuse, surprised it was even that." Diego said.
As Harold was released from prison, the scene cut to "Five days ago" and a man watched Klaus leaving the Academy and dumping Reginald's book into the dumpster, climbing in and retrieving the book, it showed Leonard Peabody.
"LEONARD IS HAROLD JENKINS?!" Allison cried.
"Well that settles it." Five said. "As soon as we get out of here, we kill him."
"Absolutely." Diego said as Luther nodded.
"We can't, he's served his time and he hasn't done anything to any of us yet." Vanya protested.
"Fine, but the second he sniffs around here, he's gone." Five said. "I'll jump him to a volcano, then nature killed him, if it makes you feel any better about it."
"Not really." Vanya told him.
The scene showed the Academy asking once again who Harold Jenkins was, as Leonard grabbed the figurine of Reginald and listened to them discussing hunting him.
"Wow, what a creeper." Klaus remarked.
After he left, it went through Vanya destroying the lampposts once again, and looking shocked.
Vanya shot a glare at Reginald and Pogo again for this scene, Pogo looking down, saddened, Reginald resolutely ignoring her.
Allison questioned about how Five knew about all of it, with Five explaining why he had come back, who he worked for and how he had found out the information about Harold Jenkins.
"Sorry for doubting you, Five." Allison said.
"You haven't, so it's fine." Five reassured her.
As they descended into shouting and arguments, Five rallied them, telling them that everything they did was insane, but they had a few days to stop it all, and with Five here and knowing the name of the man responsible, Five mentioned how he would like to live long enough to meet Claire, Allison and Diego agreeing to help him look for him, whilst Luther explained he would look for Reginald's research about the Moon.
Luther's face darkened at the reminder of that.
"You mean it, you want to meet Claire?" Allison asked, taken aback.
"Yeah, why wouldn't we all want too?" Klaus asked her, as the others nodded. They all wanted to meet Claire, she was family.
Klaus told Diego he wouldn't go with them, that he would just stay at the house, as they split off into different groups than the previous timeline.
"Without me though, how will you get sober this time?" Diego asked him.
"I'll probably ask Luther." Klaus replied. "Since he's still there."
At the motel, Hazel and Cha-Cha were told once again that Five was cleared with the Commission, heading to the vending machine, he received a message to terminate Cha-Cha from the Commission.
"I guess this time we get to see what happened for Hazel that day." Five stated.
As Five, Allison and Diego drove to the police station, Diego planned to break in to find Harold Jenkins' file, knowing he must have a record if he planned to end the world, with Diego and Five arguing about who would go in.
"Are you really arguing about this? Just go in and get it." Vanya told them.
"It's a macho man thing, only Klaus doesn't do it if you notice." Allison told her with a laugh as Vanya giggled.
Diego waited for Beaman down an alley, having called Beaman to meet him. Telling Beaman he needed to get a file, Beaman informed him he needed to flee, that with his prints and their history, the police suspected Diego had killed Patch.
"They can't be serious!" Diego protested. "They know how much Patch meant to me."
"In their eyes, that evidence won't look good, Master Diego." Pogo offered, hoping to make some inroads with the family once again, shrinking back as Diego shot him a glare.
"I don't care, they're idiots." Diego said simply
Diego told Beaman he needed Beaman to trust him, that with the file, he could save some lives as Allison phoned Vanya, telling her she was sorry and that she wanted to be a good sister to her, that she should call her back.
"Yay sisters?" Vanya asked.
"Yay sisters." Allison confirmed with a smile.
As they opened the file, Allison reeled in shock, explaining to Five and Diego that Harold Jenkins was Leonard Peabody, Vanya's boyfriend.
"Not this time he won't be." Vanya muttered.
Luther once again found out that Reginald didn't look at the research, beginning to drink as Klaus found him, begging Luther to tie him up, laughing as he saw Luther drinking. Luther glared at him, demanding Klaus summon Reginald, before Luther grabbed Klaus by the throat and lifted him into the air.
"Luther!" Allison yelled at him.
"Sorry, Klaus." Luther apologised.
"It's okay big guy." Klaus waved him off. "You haven't done this to me."
Klaus explained he had tried before, with Luther saying he had sacrificed everything for Reginald, yet his own father chose not to care for him, that Luther was nothing to him.
"That isn't true at all, Number One." Reginald said.
"It sure looks like it is." Luther shot at him.
"I admit my methods may seem...draconian, to you children, but everything I've done is for the greater good." Reginald told them to disbelieving looks.
Klaus tried to calm Luther down, as Luther continued to drink, Klaus reminding Luther that he was Number One, as Luther laughed, before resting his head on Klaus' shoulders and crying, admitting that Diego was right, Reginald had banished him as he couldn't stand the sight of him.
"Not at all, he did it as he's a prick." Klaus told Luther who laughed.
"Yeah, he is a prick." Luther told him. Part of him wanted to believe Reginald really did have their best interests at heart and loved them, another part of him said fuck it, fuck him, whilst most of him was just confused still.
Luther told Klaus he wanted to be like him, with Klaus assuring him he really didn't want to be high and drunk all the time, that it wasn't good, before Luther charged off, sending Klaus flying when he tried to stop him.
"Stop him Klaus!" Ben yelled.
"I'm not doing it right now, am I?" Klaus told him.
"What's Ben saying?" Five asked.
"He's telling me to stop Luther running away." Klaus facepalmed.
The scene changed to Hazel and Cha-Cha in the woods, Hazel looking at his note as Cha-Cha followed behind him, claiming he was tying his shoe as he loaded his own gun. Speaking about doing what they wanted for once, he pulled out his birdwatching guide as Cha-Cha lowered her own gun, believing Hazel was talking about being with her, as she realised she wanted to just be with him.
"No, the OTP is Hazel and Agnes." Klaus said.
"OTP?" Diego asked with a raised eyebrow, Klaus ignoring him to mumble about Cha-Cha ruining true love.
Hazel decided to head off to get food for the two of them, heading to Griddy's and moving to the back to talk to Agnes.
"I wonder what he's going to do." Klaus said.
Allison, Five and Diego headed to Leonard's, discussing what they would do, and wondering what he wanted with Vanya, heading into Leonard's house, they searched for clues about what he wanted and what he was doing, heading into the attic, Diego found a poster about a concert starring Vanya in a few days, whilst Allison found a shrine to the Umbrella Academy, with all of their eyes scratched out.
"Oh God." Diego remarked.
"This is about making us pay for not letting him in?" Luther asked.
"An insolent, ordinary person. No threat for you children if you try." Reginald told them, as they stared at him.
"We are not going to kill a man who hasn't started to target us yet." Allison said.
"You will have too if you want to stop him causing the apocalypse." Reginald pointed out. "It would not be hard for either yourself or Number Five, Number Three." Reginald told her, as she looked disgusted by what he was implying.
"This was never about Vanya. This was about us." Allison remarked, as Five dropped to the floor, with blood loss from being shot by the Handler.
"Five!" Luther called out. "You were shot?"
"Must not have noticed it." Five frowned. "How did I miss that?"
Leonard and Vanya entered a cabin, Leonard explaining this was his grandmother's old cabin, stopping to stare at a photo of himself with his father, as Vanya asked what was the matter.
"Maybe it's because the last time he saw his father's face, he was hitting it with a hammer?" Klaus drily remarked.
Leonard explained they were there to test Vanya's powers, telling her that she could do it, that she owed it to herself, as Vanya struggled to wrap her head around it.
"I mean, he has a point in that you should learn to use them, if you want too, but only if you want too, not because some creep is pressuring you too." Klaus told Vanya seriously, with her nodding.
Leonard showing that they were in a cabin in the middle of the woods by a lake, and that they would be able to focus there.
"Have to admit, that is pretty smart, especially if you can bend things, don't want any damage." Five noted.
Hazel asked Agnes to run away with him, to go anywhere they wanted, as Agnes noticed Hazel wasn't alright, Hazel saying he was sick of being a drone at work, and that he wanted a change, thinking Agnes wanted one too. Agnes agreed and said they could go together, start a new life together.
"Aww." Klaus said. "Well, getting away from the killing people business is always good."
Agnes asked how Cha-Cha took it, Hazel saying he hadn't told her, that she wouldn't understand with her dedication to her job, telling Agnes to pack, he would get her during the night, with Agnes telling Hazel she would be ready to go. As they kissed and broke apart, he got into the car and drove away again, noticing Cha-Cha in his mirror.
"Oh boy, they're definitely going to end up fighting, aren't they?" Klaus asked.
"Good, let them fight it out, they deserve it." Diego said. Hazel had still helped to kill Patch, even if he hadn't pulled the trigger, and Diego wouldn't forget that any time soon.
As the scene changed, Ben gave Klaus a pep talk as he searched the streets for Luther, Klaus deciding he would head home, feeling sick, as Ben tried to stop him, guilt tripping him that Luther wouldn't give up on him as Klaus tried to pretend it was all fine.
"Got to say, that's a bit of a dick move, Ben." Diego frowned.
"Yeah, you can see Klaus is trying." Allison remarked.
"They do know I can't argue back when they can't hear me, right?" Ben asked Klaus, who passed on the message.
"Still not an excuse." Allison huffed, as Ben apologised for being so hard on Klaus, Klaus passing it on.
Allison and Diego helped Five into the Academy, as Diego noticed Grace was walking around, he asked how she was there, with her joking with him.
"I know she's back, but it's still shocking to see it every time." Diego admitted.
As Klaus looked more for Luther, he overheard two girls talking, heading into the underground rave, he found Luther dancing, chest exposed, clearly high as he danced. Klaus and Ben headed over to him, getting Luther's attention who cheered seeing Klaus, saying how amazing it all was.
"Luther, believe me, drugs aren't amazing, they're awful." Klaus admitted. "If they didn't help with my powers, I'd leave them behind."
"You could easily control your fears with some application, Number Four." Reginald told him, Klaus flipping him the finger.
Klaus took Luther's pill off of him and threw it away, as a drunk girl grinded against Luther with her angry boyfriend watching, when Luther asked why he did it, Klaus admitted he had no idea, holding his head, as Ben told him he could do it, with Luther dancing away, Klaus fell to the floor, trying not to break and stay sober.
"Klaus..." Vanya said, crying at the state her brother was in, putting her hand on his shoulder, Klaus smiling at her.
Crying as he held his head, he noticed the pill he had thrown on the floor across from him, crawling along the floor to reach it, he could hear the Vietnam flashbacks in the music and the strobe lighting, seeing Dave's lifeless body on the floor before him, Klaus imagined himself holding Dave once again as the scene showed him holding the pill and crying.
Allison got up out of Luther's grip finally and wrapped her arms around Klaus, Vanya also doing it, whilst Diego and Ben each put a hand on his back, comforting him.
Five was bandaged up by Grace, as Allison and Diego discussed her being alive again, Diego wishing he could speak to Grace but they needed to go, Allison saying they needed Five, whilst Diego saying they could take Leonard, just the two of them, before saying Pogo was right, that they needed to stick together, when Allison mentioned maybe going to see Claire.
"I doubt I'll go this time, I'll want to get Vanya away from him first." Allison said.
Diego then told Allison that the file had an address for his grandmother, and it would be a good place to start looking for Leonard at the address, as they left the Academy, they could see police cars stalking down the street, Diego telling Allison they had to move, as the police believed he had murdered someone, telling Allison they had to split, that she had to go find Vanya, Diego surrendered himself to the police as Allison fled into the night.
"Well this just got a lot harder." Diego remarked.
"They must know it's all lies though, you didn't kill her." Luther stated.
"It does look pretty convincing from their end." Five noted. "Hopefully Beaman helps you out."
"I'm sure he will." Diego said, not looking too confident though about that.
Vanya and Leonard discussed her powers, with Leonard saying what had ruined their lives was their bullshit, not their powers, that Vanya could really help people with hers, pushing her further, saying that they could work it together and snapping at her when she wanted to stop and started laughing at what she saw was the ridiculousness of it all, before he apologised and said they should head back and relax.
"Wow, really big creep vibes." Allison said, still holding onto Klaus, who laughed along with Vanya.
"I really hope that me figures it out." Vanya said. "I hate seeing this and being unable to do anything about it."
Hazel got back to the hotel room, seeing Cha-Cha had yet to return, he set up his trap, taping his note to the bathroom once he saw she had also received a note to kill him, setting the shower to go, he lay in wait, as she came in, he hit her with the butt of his gun, knocking her out.
"Goodnight Vienna." Klaus joked.
The scene changed again to Klaus at the rave, seeing the angry boyfriend come after Luther, Klaus raced to help him at the urging of Ben, jumping on the angry boyfriend, Klaus was slammed to the ground and all went black.
"Klaus!" Everyone called out, seeing him go down.
"I do hope you're ok, Master Klaus." Pogo said with a frown.
"Thanks, Pogo." Klaus simply said, still unsure on how to feel. The chimp had been a proper father to them in some ways, but to lie about Vanya's powers, that took real heartlessness.
Waking up in a black and white forest, he saw a young girl riding her bike, stopping her, the girl asked if they had any sun down there, with Klaus realising he was in the afterlife, the girl telling him he couldn't stay there as she didn't like him, revealing she was God.
"So…." Diego said, unsure on what to say.
"God is real, and they're a little girl?" Five asked, bemused.
"I have to say, I really didn't expect this to be in these things." Klaus remarked.
"This is not how I saw my day going at all." Allison said. "Even with everything else we've seen, this one takes it to new levels of weird."
God told Klaus to hurry as he was waiting for him, pointing out a building, Klaus realised it must be Dave and raced to the building. Entering a barbers shop, he saw portraits on the wall of himself and his brothers, as well as Reginald and Dave. As he prepared to get a shave, the man spoke to him and he realised it was Reginald.
"Of course the old man is there." Diego spat.
"Not even death would stop you from ruining our happiness, eh, Dad?" Klaus chuckled as Reginald glared at him.
"Dad." Klaus said.
"Maybe Hitler would be a better father figure." Klaus joked.
Reginald laid into Klaus, blaming him for taking days due to his weakness. Reginald told him he didn't need to worry about the shave, as Klaus was dead. Klaus telling Reginald that he was a sadistic prick and a bad father, Reginald replying that Klaus was his greatest failure, not living up to his full potential, and that Klaus could do so much more than just commune with the dead.
"Like what?" Klaus asked.
"If you want to know that, you'll come to me for training and cut out the substances, Number Four." Reginald simply said, as Klaus made a buzzer noise.
"Pass."
Klaus told him that Luther knew about the Moon, Reginald saying he should have burnt them all, not kept the proof. Reginald said he needed to send Luther there to keep him safe for the apocalypse, asking if Luther was ok.
"Do you really care?" Luther asked quietly.
"Of course I do, Number One." Reginald said.
"Everything I did, it was to prepare you, all of you, for something bigger than yourselves."
"Did a great job of that." Klaus laughed.
Reginald telling Klaus they were never just kids, they were meant to save the world. Reginald admitting he had to bring them all back together, the only way that was possible, something momentous.
"Wait, what are you saying?" Five asked, understanding dawning on him.
Klaus realised the truth and asked if Reginald killed himself, Reginald admitting he did. Before Reginald could tell Klaus something of importance, he returned to the world of the living, with his beard suddenly trimmed.
"So, you killed yourself? Is that the big lie?" Diego wondered.
"It seems you now know all of your father's secrets." Pogo admitted.
"So you did know!" Diego exclaimed.
"What I want to know is how you managed to actually shave me when we were in the afterlife." Klaus remarked, being ignored.
As Leonard and Vanya left the bar, Leonard asked some men by their car to go away, with the men threatening them, before one tried to assault Vanya, the men laughed as it began to suddenly rain, as the men beat Leonard up, Vanya felt herself let go, exploding outwards, she sent the men flying in walls and cars, killing several of them.
"Oh damn." Klaus said.
"That seems a bit too convenient." Five glared.
"We aren't going to discuss Vanya killing some guys?" Luther asked, confused.
"We've all killed, big guy." Diego told him. "So, no, not at all."
Cha-Cha awoke to find herself cuffed and gagged by Hazel, Hazel telling her that he was done with the Commission, asking her to let it be and let him go, as he removed the gag, Cha-Cha told him that the world was ending and he was throwing his life away. Then she told him he should play it smart and stick with his job, he refused and said he would rather have three days with Agnes than three thousand with Cha-Cha. Cha-Cha she would come after him, and she would kill him and Agnes, with Hazel unable to kill her, leaving her cuffed as he left.
"At least he's a better guy now I guess." Allison said.
"Cha-Cha won't let it go, she'll hunt them until the apocalypse." Five remarked.
"Good." Diego spat. "Let them hurt one another."
Allison drover through the night towards where Vanya would be, as Klaus stumbled through the streets with Ben, shaking. Luther made out with the woman from the party as Diego paced around a jail cell, Five lay in his bed and Vanya awaited news of Leonard in a hospital waiting room, remembering her explosion of powers and how it felt, before seeing that Leonard was now missing an eye, as the screen turned to black once more.
"Looks like we're all in the shit." Klaus grinned.
"I see he's lost an eye now, I guess he's about to get that fake one you found." Vanya told Five who nodded.
"It's the endgame now."
