The episode opened to show breakfast when they were four, with Vanya refusing to eat her oatmeal and killing Nanny after Nanny, until Reginald brought in Grace, seeing her stand up and move towards Vanya with her head backwards, Vanya began to eat, pleasing Reginald and Pogo.
"Jesus, Vanya you were ruthless." Klaus remarked, as the rest of them watched in shock. They didn't recall all the others and she was just a kid, unable to control her powers too much, but still, she killed innocent women.
"I can see why Dad was scared." Luther admitted.
"What does that mean?" Diego asked him sharply.
"You know what I mean, those powers are dangerous if not controlled." Luther argued, crossing his arms to glare at his brother.
"Are you saying I won't be able to control them?" Vanya questioned him, gazing at Luther.
"I'm not saying that, but younger you either couldn't or wouldn't, we need to play it carefully." Luther told her.
The scene changed to show an older Vanya covered in Allison's blood in the bath, shocked and scared, as Harold carefully cleaned her up, telling her to remind herself that she was special and extraordinary, saying she could explain herself to the others, that it was an accident, Leonard telling her that they would hurt her, they wouldn't believe her and that they now hated her.
"No we wouldn't!" Allison protested. "He's a liar."
Vanya just looked troubled. She had seen herself possibly kill her sister, she knew her powers were far stronger than anything she had seen in the space of a few days, and she knew that the her on the screen was believing everything Leonard was feeding her.
"He's right." Vanya said quietly. "I hurt you, I maybe killed you, I'm dangerous, and I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to hurt me."
"We would never hurt you, Vanya." Five told her seriously.
"You're one of us." Diego agreed. "It may have taken me a while to realise that, but you're one of us, Vanya."
"We're in it together." Klaus agreed. "All for one and one for all, okay?"
"Okay." Vanya smiled shyly.
A car pulled up outside the Academy and the others poured out, getting Grace to help Allison to the operating room, trying to save her life. They all offered to give their blood to save her, Luther being told his was incompatible now due to the serum, being closer to Pogo in blood. Klaus was ruled out due to drug abuse, Diego offering before fainting at the sight of a needle.
"Scared of a needle are we Diego?" Klaus asked with an evil grin as Diego glared at him.
"You know damn well why I hate the things." He said simply, as Klaus shut up.
"Shit, I'm sorry." Klaus said sadly, Diego simply nodding.
"My blood is closer to Pogo's now?" Luther asked, horrified.
"Yes, Master Luther, you and I are made of the same stuff, as it were." Pogo told him.
"Stick him." Pogo simply said.
"Saves time." Reginald noted, pleased Pogo wasn't wasting time, they needed to save Number Three and deal with Number Seven.
"Thanks for the kind consideration, Pogo." Diego grumbled.
Klaus began to root through his room for drugs as Ben tried to advise him to not do it, Ben trying to encourage Klaus to remain sober, Klaus saying he wanted to be numb again as his life was no better sober. Ben told him how Dave knew Klaus was better than just being a junkie, Klaus apologising before finding some drugs, Klaus laughed at Ben, before Ben aiming a punch at Klaus, hitting him in the face and sending the pill flying away. Ben saying he thinks Klaus made it happen, when Klaus asked how Ben did it.
"What….The…." Diego said.
"You're a prick, you know that, right?" Ben asked Klaus as he nodded.
"What I want to know is how we let you interact with the world." Klaus told him, looking at Reginald, who he caught staring at him. "Something to say, Dad?"
"You could do so much with your powers if you chose to apply yourself, Number Four." Reginald said simply.
Klaus mulled it over as Diego and Five talked with him about the plan, Diego saying they needed to find Harold and save Vanya, Five arguing that Vanya wasn't important, and that she needed to be a secondary focus at the moment. The two of them agreed to head off, when Klaus asked to be kept out of it, both of them forcing Klaus to come with them.
"Vanya is definitely important, Five." Allison glared at him.
"I agree, I think this version of me just thinks that she isn't as important as finding Harold at that time." Five explained.
"I can't believe you though we would let you just stay, you were coming with us." Diego told Klaus.
"What help will I be?" Klaus asked.
"I don't know, but are you telling me you won't come when we go after Jenkins this time?"
"Oh no, I want in." Klaus gave a feral grin.
Vanya remembered the events of the previous night in Leonard's kitchen, washing her face, she knocked over Harold's bag, before finding Reginald's book and notes in it.
"Oh yes, here it comes!" Klaus cheered.
"I wonder what I'll do now I've seen all of this." Vanya mused.
Leonard came in to the kitchen to find her reading it, immediately saying he could explain. She asked him if he was manipulating her, with him arguing he was trying to protect her from her family, as they were scared of her and wanted to hurt her, that he loved and accepted her. Vanya saying that they loved her, that they would help her.
"Yes, we do love you, Vanya." Allison assured her.
"Can this guy shut up already?" Diego asked.
"Hopefully he will soon enough." Five hoped.
Vanya asked who Harold Jenkins was, Harold replied he was a boy just like them two, who was lonely and not cared for by his family or the world. Vanya saying that he was sick, Harold grabbing her, telling her he was the reason she got first chair, did she think Helen vanished all by herself? Saying he did it for her, as Vanya begged him to stay away from her.
"He's a monster." Vanya said simply.
"Yeah he is, and luckily you won't be getting sucked into his web of lies this time." Klaus told her.
"This guy is so delusional, he thinks the world owes him, that everyone owes him for his own shitty life." Diego frowned. "Imagine if we had that attitude with the shit Dad put us all through."
"We'd probably become some kind of Legion of Doom with that." Allison laughed.
"You know comics?" Klaus asked, shocked.
"I've read them for a film audition or two." Allison admitted. "How do you know them, didn't think you'd be interested in them."
"Ben." Klaus explained simply.
Angering Vanya, Harold said she was a God next to the others, and how he opened her eyes for her, she argued she needed her family, saying she didn't mean to kill Allison, that she loved her, and the others, Harold decided to change tactics, saying Reginald was right, she wasn't strong enough, that Vanya was just weak, and ordinary, less than nothing, upsetting her more and more, her powers rising up as he spoke, she raised him into the air, holding him in place, as Harold begged her to let him go, saying she wasn't nothing to him, Vanya smashed up the place, sending all of his possessions into a maelstrom, sending in into him, throwing him onto the kitchen table, body riddled with knives and other sharp objects. Harold Jenkins was dead.
"YES!" Everyone cheered, seeing him hit the table with a mundane finality.
"You're not ordinary at all, Miss Vanya." Pogo told Vanya, seeing her frown as Harold tried to tell her she was worthless and nothing to anger her.
"I know." Vanya told him, jutting out her chin. "Harold Jenkins was just a sad, bitter, little man, who blamed others for his own failings. The difference between the two of us is that I can forgive others and look at my own mistakes."
"Does this mean the apocalypse is off?" Luther asked.
"It can't be that easy, can it?" Five wondered.
Reginald merely frowned, staring at Vanya. The apocalypse couldn't be over that simply, and Number Seven's powers seemed even stronger than he knew in her youth. She would need to be studied very closely.
The scene changed to show Agnes entering the motel room, to find Cha-Cha waiting for her, Agnes tried to run, before Cha-Cha knocked her out.
"NO AGNES!" Klaus cried.
"Cha-Cha won't get her this time." Diego told Klaus. "We'll be stopping her the minute she comes to 2019."
At Harold's house, Diego, Klaus and Five found Harold's corpse, Five seeing the eye was a match, and proclaiming that the apocalypse might be off now, stating it couldn't be that easy. Five jumped away as Klaus and Diego spoke about how they needed to find Vanya.
"It can't be." Five insisted as the others looked at him. "I mean, sure, Jenkins is dead, but how did he cause the apocalypse the first time? Does he have some way that is still in play? We need to know this before we can celebrate."
At the Academy, Luther, Grace and Pogo discussed that they didn't know if Allison would be able to talk, but she was out of the woods, and she was safe now. Luther told Pogo he was the last person Luther would trust, and that he wasn't leaving Allison alone, dismissing Pogo and Grace.
"I know I've hurt you, my boy." Pogo said sadly, noting the Luther in the room with him wouldn't meet his eyes either. "But I have always done everything in your best interests."
"I know you mean well, Pogo." Luther eventually said. "But you have hurt me. I don't know if I can just forgive and forget all of it."
The other three searched the Academy, not finding Vanya, Diego said he was grabbing his things and leaving, that he needed to find and stop Hazel and Cha-Cha still for Patch. Five asked Klaus about what their father had told him, annoying Five, as Klaus talked about his own potential. Klaus telling Five he was addicted to a drug called the apocalypse when Five dismissed Klaus as a junkie. Klaus telling Five he had to let it go, the apocalypse was done, as Five smashed the fake eyeball he had carried for forty five years.
"That may be one of the wisest things you've ever said, Klaus." Ben remarked as Klaus hissed at him.
"What words of wisdom did Ben annoy you with now?" Vanya asked him.
"Betrayed on all sides!" Klaus said in mock shock, covering his mouth. "He says my thoughts about Five being addicted and needing to move on was one of the wisest things I've ever said."
"Well, he's right." Five admitted. "Maybe I do have an addiction to the idea of the apocalypse, once this is all done, I do need to evaluate what I will do, I mean, I've been chasing this for so many years, I'm not sure what I'll do."
"What would you have done, had you never left?" Allison asked him.
"I'd probably be like you guys, fucked up." Five said as they all protested his words.
Luther spoke to an unconscious Allison, trying to reach her, holding her hand, crying and apologising to her.
"Aww Luther." Allison said, kissing his cheek again. "This won't happen, don't worry."
"I'll always be here for you, Allison, no matter what." Luther promised her.
As Five made himself and Dolores a margarita he heard a knock at the door, seeing Hazel with his gun. He asked Hazel if he had Vanya, and if not, did he want a margarita, Hazel accepting the drink as he followed Five inside.
"Well, you get over people trying to kill you pretty quick." Vanya noted.
"Well we know Hazel isn't too into all of this, it wouldn't take much to get him over to our side this time. I say we let them live out the first few days if they come this time as they did, then take out Cha-Cha before Detective Patch is in harms way." Five said.
"What about me?" Klaus asked.
"You won't be kidnapped either, don't worry." Five told him.
Hazel was about to explain why he had come after fangirling over Five's exploits, before Diego attacked from behind, Five let them fight until Diego bit Hazel's ear, knocking Diego out with a glass and saying he draws a line at biting. Hazel told Five that he had left the Commission and wanted to help him stop the apocalypse, Five explaining that it was already stopped, causing Hazel to celebrate before Hazel handed over his and Cha-Cha's guns to Five, saying Cha-Cha shot Patch and he could use the guns to clear Diego's name after telling Five he was finding a life beyond all of this and Five could do the same.
"He's got a point, maybe you need to look at something else beyond the apocalypse." Diego told him.
"What would I do though? All my life, it's only been about the apocalypse." Five told him.
"Well, what would you like to do?" Vanya asked him.
"I don't know, research, maybe?" Five wondered.
"Well think about it." Vanya smiled at him. "You never know what you'll enjoy, Five."
The scene changed to show Vanya at her apartment, hearing Allison's messages for her to call her, that she loved Vanya, as Vanya remembered what she had done again, breaking down and crying again.
Vanya frowned again at yet another reminder, Allison reaching out to take her hands in her own.
"Are you okay, Sis?"
"I will be." Vanya told her with a small smile. "I just don't want to hurt you this time, Allison."
"You won't." Allison reassured her.
Allison awoke to find Luther with her, Luther explaining that she needed to not talk, to help her throat heal, apologising for not being there, he got her a notepad and pen, letting her write. Allison wrote "VANYA POWERS". Pogo came in and explained it was time to reveal Reginald's final secrets.
"I have to agree it's time to let them know it, old friend." Reginald told Pogo. "I don't blame you, they knew it already."
"You do need to rest up if that ever happens, Allison." Luther told her as she glared at him.
"It won't ever happen, Luther." Allison told him.
Diego awoke to find Five waiting for him with both guns, Five explaining Hazel wanted a fresh start and Diego could clear his names with the guns, before Five asked if Patch would want this, after Diego explained what he liked about Patch was her seeing the good in everyone, believing in people.
"If she sees the good in everyone, you know she wouldn't condone what you want to do, in this or on that, right?" Klaus asked Diego seriously, who grimaced. He knew Klaus had a point, but he wanted revenge, both for them hurting her on the screen and the idea that they could do it again in his timeline in the future.
"I know, but they need to be punished for it." Diego eventually settled on.
"If they did it this time, I'll help you stop them." Five told him, listening in. "This time they won't do it though, and we don't need to worry about it."
Vanya arrived outside the Academy, heading inside she found Luther waiting for her, Luther telling her that Allison was alive, with Vanya apologising, Luther opening his arms and telling her he understood as they hugged.
"Why do I get a bad feeling about this?" Five asked.
"Because Luther looks completely out of it?" Diego wondered.
"I don't know what is about to go on, but I feel I'm about to get very angry at your television self." Allison told Luther, who wondered himself what he was about to do.
Vanya suddenly complained he was hurting her, her powers whipping up, but before she could do anything, everything faded to black as Luther knocked her out.
"What the fuck was that, Luther?" Allison asked sweetly, as her gaze bored a hole into him. Luther knew it wasn't him who had done it, but he still winced.
"I don't condone it, of course not, but I do see where he was coming from." Luther meekly replied, getting the rest of them to glare at him as Vanya ducked her head down, trying to avoid Luther's attention.
"What do you mean by that?" Diego angrily demanded.
"She could be dangerous, we need to take precautions." Luther tried to argue, Reginald nodding approvingly, which only served to make the rest of them more annoyed.
"Still Dad's mouthpiece, Number One?" Five asked mockingly.
"Take that back!" Luther demanded.
"Then stop defending actions that make the old bastard happy." Klaus spat at him. "This is Vanya, remember, our sister who used to cry when we stepped on ants as kids. Why would she intentionally hurt anyone? We need to help her to train her powers, not be scared of them and of her, like you clearly are."
"I'm just saying, we need to be careful with this, maybe the other me has a point." Luther tried to argue, the rest of them deciding to ignore him.
Waking up inside the room once again, she saw Luther, Klaus and Diego looking into it at her. Diego and Klaus arguing to release her, Luther refusing to let them, as they argued that she was their sister and they needed to be there to help her, Luther saying she was too dangerous, Pogo had told him about her powers and they were too powerful for them to help, she needed to be locked up for their own good.
"Yes, we need to be there for her, fuck what Dad thought and to be honest, fuck what Pogo thinks too." Klaus said.
"Master Klaus!" Pogo protested, scandalised.
"I'm with him on this one." Diego told them. "Vanya needs our help on the videos and she will need our help when we get out of here and she stops taking her meds, and we will be there for her." Diego promised.
"We need to make sure she doesn't harm herself or anyone else. We need to make sure if she does lash out, there isn't another Allison moment." Luther argued.
"No, fuck that, Luther." Allison rebutted. "Vanya didn't mean to hurt me, you can see that if you just opened your eyes with these recordings, you even said on the last that Harold was at fault, why blame her now?"
"I don't blame Vanya, I blame what her powers going out of control could do though." Luther explained. "I don't want her to be hurt or anyone else to be hurt by them."
"No, you just want to be the hero." Five told him. "Otherwise you'd be backing Vanya here, not trying to back up Dad's madness."
Allison walked into the room, also arguing for Vanya to be released, saying it was her own fault Vanya hurt her. Vanya looking shocked at the sight, Luther preventing any of them from opening the door, saying that Vanya stays put, Luther forced them all out of the room, as Vanya cried and banged on the door, begging to be released, apologising.
"It wasn't your fault, Allison." Vanya told her. "It was mine, I didn't listen, I was the one who fell for what Harold was saying."
"It clearly was my fault, I pushed you, refused to listen to you, refused to see you for who you were, I may have only been a kid but I still helped Dad to do this to you, how is it not my fault?" Allison cried.
"If anyone is to blame, it's Dad and Harold." Five simply stated. "Neither of you two are to blame for all of this."
Hazel returned to the motel to find Cha-Cha holding Agnes hostage, the two of them fighting, bloodying each other, before they were interrupted by the Handler arriving, freezing time to speak to the two of them, badly scarred.
"HOW IS SHE STILL ALIVE?!" Klaus asked as Five glared at the screen. How had she survived a grenade to the face? At least it looked like it had hurt, judging by the scars, at least Five could take pride of the fact he wounded her if nothing else.
"The Commission has nothing but time." Five said. "It would be easy for her to take months if not years to recover, and come back as if no time had passed for us."
Allison and Luther returned to Allison's room, Allison turning away from him, Diego was with Grace in the kitchen as Klaus trained his new power with Ben, and Vanya cried in the room beneath the house. Meanwhile, Five returned Dolores to the store, saying goodbye to her and wishing her well, saying he would take care of himself as he headed back to the Academy once he told a store worker that she liked sequinned dresses on.
"Wow, we are all idiots, instead of fighting him on it, we just let it go, left her down there?" Allison asked, incredulous that herself and her siblings could be so moronic.
"Well it won't happen this time." Diego promised.
"I like the choice of clothes, Five." Klaus approved. "Very stylish."
"Shut it." Five hissed, worried he was being teased, when hew saw Klaus seemed genuine, he softened and flashed his brother a small smile. "Thanks, she deserves the best."
Underneath the Academy, Vanya began to speak to The White Violin, that told her in her younger form they still feared her, that she was stronger than them, convincing Vanya that Leonard hadn't lied about their fear of her, that she needed to get herself out of there, to show them she was special, that she wasn't ordinary. Playing on Vanya's fears that she would be kept in there forever, Vanya focused on her heartbeat, using it to channel her powers, to break down the walls and escape, as the others heard a giant boom as the huge steel door hit the ground, and Vanya walked from the room, eyes pure white.
"Are you okay, Vanya?" Allison asked, seeing her sister's face pale at the sight of her other self talking to her powers, and her eyes going bright white as she gave into them.
"Yeah, I'm just shocked." Vanya told her. "So, my powers have a different personality? Are we sure we want to risk letting them out? Especially if they're as pissed about being suppressed as they seem to be in these videos?"
"Do you want to keep them in?" Five asked her. Seeing her shake his head, he smiled. "Then we won't be suppressing them. It's up to you, if you think you can control this other self of yours, we will be here for you, and we will be here to try help you no matter what, Vanya."
"I do have to say, pretty bad-ass to wreck that room though, Vanya." Klaus remarked.
"Number Seven has shown in this that her powers are far too powerful to be contained again if she tried to let them out, and if she has her own split personality from it, I shudder to think on how it will affect her mental state." Reginald quietly told Pogo.
"What can we do though, Sir? The children seem determined to help Miss Vanya realise her powers, and Miss Vanya herself seems keen to learn, even if she does show some hesitation at the extent of her powers." Pogo replied.
"We just need to hope the next video shows her exactly what she can do, so she decides not to try and use them, or hopefully her siblings decide to convince her to keep her powers controlled." Reginald told him. "They will see."
