Vanya awoke in an interrogation room, being interrogated by an FBI agent, who asked what she was doing in America, disbelieving she had amnesia and insisting she was a Communist spy, asking her a question in Russian that she replied in Russian, he said he wanted answers from her and would do whatever it took to get them, when she insisted on using her right to a phone call. Vanya then used her powers to hurt the agents but before she could kill them, they sedated her.
"I mean, if they thought you were a spy, I can understand why they wouldn't want to grant you any rights, still isn't fair what they're doing at all." Allison said.
"I'm just wondering what they'll try do to me now they've sedated me and seen I can hurt them." Vanya worried.
"They'll see they're wrong about you." Allison reassured her. "Don't worry, by the end of this episode, you'll be free and I'm sure reunited with us."
Five railed against his siblings and said it was everyone for themselves now, as Luther told Klaus to get the others and he would deal with Five. Klaus stumbled away, telling Ben that he had lost any right to possess Klaus, Ben replying that he regretted none of it.
"Damn, Ben, you're savage." Klaus told him as Ben smirked.
"I can see why I wouldn't regret it, to be alive again, even in that form, what a rush it would be. But I can see I'm coming off way too strong in this, if we do learn this power, I won't push you, Klaus." Ben assured him. "You'll let me possess you from time to time when you feel like it, I know you won't say no forever."
Luther told Five they needed a new plan, Five told him they were already dead and he had to do something he didn't want to do, leaving Luther in the dark about his plan.
"I think I know what I'm planning." Five spoke up. "I won't like it." He simply said, leaving everyone mystified on what it would be.
Raymond freaked out about the dead Swede, saying he would be executed, as there was a knock at the door, opening it they found Klaus, Klaus came in, speaking about how he was worried about Allison, noticing the dead Swede, he simply asked "So are we burning or burying?"
"It truly shows how fucked up we all are that you can ask that so casually." Vanya noted.
"Well with daddy dearest, I'm not surprised." Diego told her.
At the cat house, the lone Swede looked through a family photo, remembering what had happened, looking at his hands in horror, he attempted to chop his hand off, but couldn't go through with it, before noticing the Commission tube from before, slicing into it, he realised it was a fake tube. Noting the smell, he realised he had been set up by the Handler, throwing it aside in a rage.
"He's not going to let it go in a hurry, I think we may have a new ally." Luther said.
"The Handler has an enemy, those aren't the same thing." Five explained. "He will probably still want us dead for the taller brother."
"Oh yeah." Luther said sheepishly.
Lila and the Handler argued over the merits of Diego, ignoring his presence, with the Handler telling Diego she and Five had a colourful history, before Diego replied that Five had beef with everyone, even him.
"Well, you're not wrong." Five grumbled.
Diego told the Handler he was loyal to himself, not Lila, the Handler agreeing he could work for the Commission, but if he stepped out of line, Lila must kill him herself.
"Yeah, that won't be happening, she would probably side with Diego." Allison said.
"Yeah, she's got it bad." Klaus agreed, giggling.
Grace searched Reginald's lab for clues, finding plans for the assassination as well as for rocket travel and futuristic tech. Reginald then interrupted her, with her admitting she couldn't lie, asking Reginald if he was involved in anything nefarious, he admitted he did, what did she have in mind?
"At least you're honest, Sir." Pogo told Reginald, hoping to mend some bridges, Reginald simply turned his nose up at it. The children were back under his thumb, he had broken them in only a few minutes, and Pogo backed them up against him.
Grace told him that Diego had told her Reginald planned to harm the President, before Reginald told her that he had secrets he could not discuss with her, as she admitted she loved him, but needed to know he was a good man, he reiterated he cannot discuss things with her, but one day, he hoped to share everything with her, asking her to trust him, before Grace told him she could not wait that long, before walking away from him, Reginald looking upset by it.
"I didn't know you felt that way about her, Sir." Pogo said softly, moving back towards Reginald, offering his hand out to his master. Reginald chose to still ignore him, though Pogo could see the tears in the corners of Reginald's eyes. He truly did care for Grace.
Luther awoke on the couch, finding Five drinking, looking as if he hadn't slept a wink, as Five poured baby powder down his armpits to help with the itching. Five explained to Luther that his past self was in Dallas as of fifteen minutes prior, a him with a briefcase they could use.
"Oh yeah, the old you from the very first one of these?" Diego asked.
"I'm surprised you remembered." Five said, stunned. "But yes, I came to you guys in it from 1963, that me has just arrived there."
The issue was, old him wouldn't react too well to seeing him and he was dangerous, and there were side effects to two versions of yourself existing in one place at the same time. Luther asked what side effects as Five began to reel them off.
"They're pretty bad." Five said, as they all looked at him, wondering what side effects this paradox psychosis could cause.
"Stage One, Denial. Two, Itching, Three, Extreme Thirst and Urination, Four, Excessive Gas, Five, Acute Paranoia, Six, Uncontrolled Perspiration and Seven, Homicidal Rage."
"Well, let's hope we don't see stage seven." Klaus remarked lightly, looking disturbed.
Five told Luther he needed him to be his spotter, no matter what happened or what he said, Luther had to ensure they got the briefcase.
"So, who wants to take bets on how this will go wrong? Anyone?" Klaus joked as they all shook their heads. They knew it would go wrong.
Reginald pursed his lips hearing this. So uncivilised.
The scene changed to Carl being told by his brother that the FBI thought Vanya was a KGB agent, informing Sissy, who was shocked and didn't believe it, Carl trying to comfort her, saying she was duped, it wasn't her fault, and she was led astray, it wasn't her fault. Carl tried to tell Sissy it wasn't her fault, and they needed to work through it, double down on the family lifestyle, just the three of them.
"He does realise he is tearing them apart, right? His emotional distance has made her question her sexuality and attempt to run away already and probably will get her to try run again some time soon, right?" Klaus asked, stunned.
"Carl doesn't seem all that smart, it looks like he's sucked into the hype of the Red scare." Allison frowned.
At the FBI, the agent asked Vanya to wake up, her feet in water, jumper cables attached to the bowl, electrocuting her whenever she defied them.
"LET HER GO!" Diego shouted at the screen.
"IF YOU DO THAT AGAIN, I WILL FIND AND KILL YOU!" Luther roared at the agents on the screen as well.
"NOT EVEN DEATH WILL SPARE YOU!" Ben and Klaus both yelled, looking at each other as they did.
"Five, can you take us all back to let our displeasure be known?" Allison asked him a falsely sweet voice.
"I'd love to hurt those jackasses for this, but sadly, no." Five told them as they calmed down.
Vanya watched it all with some shock, sure, it was much better between her and her siblings now, but she was still stunned to see them supporting her like this. Allison noticed and whispered to her.
"Powers or not, we should have seen before how we were treating you. You're our sister, Vanya, we will always be there for you from now on, I promise." Allison told her with a smile, Vanya felt like she was floating hearing those words, this, this was what it meant to be in a family.
As she stopped resisting, they dropped LSD into her mouth, telling her to just work with it, or it could become unpleasant for her, as she began to hallucinate, seeing eyeballs in the water as the agents faces moved around, Vanya staring all around, confused. She pictured herself moving down some stairs, hearing someone address her by number in Russian.
"Does that voice….sound familiar?" Klaus asked, casting his eye suspiciously towards Reginald.
Looking around, she saw herself at the Academy, in uniform, all of her siblings and her father, fully grown, in their uniforms, all sitting ready for supper. Sitting down, they all began staring at her, as the agent asked who she was again.
"Well, this isn't creepy at all." Vanya murmured.
Luther and Five entered an Irish bar as Five pointed out his younger self to Luther, Luther suggested they grab the briefcase and run, Five having to explain why that wouldn't work, he told Luther they would have to talk to his other self, to reason with him.
"Do you expect that will work?" Klaus asked Five.
"Not a chance."
Luther approached Old Five, who seemed shocked to see him once he realised who it was, reaching for the case, Luther begged him to keep calm, then brought out Five, Old Five looking even more stunned, as Five said "Hey there, Stranger."
"Even with our family history, that has got to be shocking." Allison remarked.
At the Commission, Lila told Diego about the Commission before dropping him off at the orientation as he asked about the Commission controlling Time, kissing him as she left, begging him to make it work there, as he sat through it, he heard about the Infinite Switchboard and how they monitor the timeline, noticing the agent in charge had fallen asleep, Diego escaped.
"Super Diego to the rescue!" Klaus cheered as Diego elbowed him.
"Shut it."
At the bar, Luther mediated as the two Fives glared at each other, Five told Old Five that he was him from the future, explaining how in an hour, Old Five would break his contract, and look younger again. He said how they had wanted to get back to look after their family the entire time they were in the apocalypse, Luther looking shocked at it. He could tell him the correct calculations to stay in his older body after the jump, and all it would cost Old Five, was the briefcase.
"Will he go for the swap?" Allison asked Five.
"I don't know, either I will, or I'll try betray...me." Five explained.
Old Five said it was a lot to take in as Five asked what was his answer, Old Five said he needed to go to the toilet, as Luther wiped Five's forehead, Five saying something didn't feel right and he didn't trust Old Five. Luther stated he was him, Five said "Exactly."
"Paranoia." Klaus sang as Five chose to hit him.
In the Commission, Diego searched the various rooms before finding the Infinite Switchboard, as he entered, looking at it, he got to work, messing it up and causing a mini failure, before putting a knife to the throat of a person sneaking behind him, revealing Herb, who begged Diego not to hurt him.
"Herb seems like a nice enough guy, if a bit timid." Vanya noted.
"Well I hope he can help me." Diego growled.
Herb told Diego it was an honour to meet him, stroking Diego's ego, before telling Diego he couldn't be there, Diego asked if he knew how to make it work, Herb said he did, as Diego asked him to look up the assassination of JFK, Herb mentioned the rules, before Diego shot him down. Herb then told him that it was a much darker place now the Handler ruled the Commission, and people were disappearing. Diego told him he had to do it quickly before they came for them, Herb saying they would have one quick look then they had to go.
"So it seems there is trouble in the Commission, they want rid of her almost as much as you do, Five." Luther noted.
"I'm not surprised, she really is the worst." Five told them.
"Poor Herb, you're being mean, bullying him like that." Allison told Diego with a frown.
"I'm sure Herb is fine with it." Diego remarked nonchalantly.
Opening up the day, Diego said this was just before the assassination, as Herb asked "Assassination?" as if there never was one, as Kennedy came onto Deeley Plaza, the nearby FBI building exploded, Kennedy being rushed to safety and not being shot as a result. Herb asking if that wasn't supposed to happen, Diego confirming that was a timeline change. The noise in the Frankel Footage wasn't a gunshot, but an explosion.
"So they didn't even know the timeline had changed? That is some serious egg on the Commission's face if so." Five said, eyes alight at the idea. They didn't know which timeline was the correct one, so it had to all be arbitrary, and if that was the case, the apocalypse wasn't guaranteed, it could be stopped!
"What caused the explosion though?" Luther asked, confused.
With the survival, the Soviets were blamed for the attack in Dallas, and war was declared, Cuba was attacked and the USSR fired back, and within two days later, nuclear holocaust of all life on Earth.
"God..." Klaus said, stunned at the sight of it all, looking around, he saw everyone else in the room looking just as shocked, except for Reginald, who just appeared, bored if anything.
Diego asked about another angle on the FBI building, opening it up, they saw Vanya floating into the air, her powers fully unlocked once again.
"Well, I can't say I didn't see this coming." Luther shrugged. He didn't like it one bit, why did it have to be Vanya again? Couldn't they catch a break, especially her?
Vanya stared at the screen in horror. She did it, again. How could any of them stand to be anywhere near her? No matter what happened, where they were, she ended the world.
"Vanya?" Five asked softly, seeing her scared expression and noticing a slight tremble in her. "Are you alright?"
Vanya had to get out of there, somehow, she had to get away, had to get hold of her pills again and leave, keep her powers down so her family wouldn't be hurt, so she wouldn't be this weapon.
"Vanya?" Allison tried, reaching out a comforting hand to her sister, feeling her trembles, as Vanya just stared forward, ignoring her calls.
If she got home, she could get her pills, get away from all of it, she could be on a flight by that evening, out of the way, maybe go to Europe, get away from all of this, an ocean between her and anyone she could hurt.
"Van." Klaus said, voice breaking as he looked at her. Ben looked similarly lost, wishing he could reach out to her, hold her tight, tell her everything would be alright.
"Number Seven." Reginald said, everyone turned to him, surprised by how quiet and, dare they say it, caring, he sounded. "I know that dark place you're in right now. I will not pretend that I would change what I have done to you children, you needed to learn to control yourselves, and you, you are a danger, but you are not this version of yourself, not yet. You can be better. You can be of no risk to your siblings and the world."
"How?" Vanya finally asked, eyes still fixed on the screen.
"By working with us, as a family." Diego said, before Reginald could get another word in.
"By training, by letting us be there for you, as we should have been." Luther told her.
"By being better than we all were before." Pogo affirmed.
Vanya broke away from the screen to look at them, tears streaking down face, seeing all of them looking at her in worry.
"Thank you." She said softly.
"Vanya." Diego said, stunned, remembering that Five had said she will always be the bomb, before Diego told Herb he had to get back to 1963 Dallas now, as Herb called the resistance of Commission agents fighting against the Handler, such as Dot, revealing they were resourceful and had a briefcase for Diego to use.
"VIVA LA RESISTANCE!" Klaus called out, trying to cheer everyone up, most of them ignored him, but he caught the ghost of a smile on Vanya's face, and to Klaus, that was worth everything.
In the bathroom of the bar, Luther and Old Five spoke, Luther revealing Vanya had caused the apocalypse before, Old Five told him they had to betray Five, working together, he and Luther could jump to 2019, stop Vanya by making her happy and stop the apocalypse.
"You really would do anything for Vanya, regardless of when it is, won't you?" Allison asked Five quietly, who nodded.
"She's my sister, I'd do the same for any of you."
"No, I mean, you'd go above and beyond for her." Allison insisted.
"I hadn't really thought about it before." Five admitted. "Yeah, I'd guess so. I always thought I had to protect her, with her being powerless, and now I know she has all this inside her, I feel responsible, I guess, to make sure she's trained and can protect herself."
"I think it's cute." Klaus interjected as Five glared at him. "What, protective Five? I love it."
When Luther asked about what they would do with Five, Old Five said they would have to kill him, it would be a mercy to him. Luther asked if Old Five had paradox psychosis as well, with him saying he was fine, despite showing the symptoms. At the table, Five glared at Old Five, with Old Five saying they had a deal, the two of them accusing each other of paranoia and both exhibiting symptoms.
"Yeah, I can't wait to see the two of you fight, it's definitely coming." Diego remarked.
"I expect I'll end up fighting my other self." Five reasoned. "Let's just hope I'm just as good a fighter in a younger body."
At the FBI, the agents continued to question Vanya as she saw herself in the academy again, Reginald saying they were all waiting for the answer, Ben said it wasn't her fault, she hit her head and lost her memory, Allison and Luther both saying she got overheated and was lazy. Vanya denied it, as Klaus said she was faking it, Ben defending her again as Reginald said she chooses not to remember.
"At least you want to help her, Ben." Klaus told him as Ben nodded. He always would help Vanya.
"Is that what you think of us?" Luther asked Vanya, who shook her head.
"I used too, yeah, now, I know you'd all be like Ben with this."
Grace then brought in food, half of her face missing as Vanya asked how she was, Grace saying she was fine, their food being revealed to be brains.
"I think I'm going to be sick." Allison said, covering her mouth in disgust.
"Mom..." Diego said sadly, remembering the last time they had seen that version of their mother was when she was waving goodbye.
They all began to eat it, except for Vanya, Reginald told her it may help her remember, as the agents asked her more questions. The siblings happily ate the brains as Ben looked at Vanya in concern, who hadn't touched it yet. They all stared as she raised some to her mouth, putting it in, she began to spit it up as Harlan reacted in the real world, having a seizure and moaning whilst the siblings laughed at Vanya in her mind.
"Oh God, Harlan is connected to me?" Vanya asked, horrified. No matter what happened to her, she wouldn't want that poor boy to suffer it as well.
"Is it wrong I want to hit my other self?" Allison growled.
"No, I'm with you." Diego glared at the screen.
Reginald slapped the table in anger, telling Vanya no dessert if she did not remember, back in the Bureau, the agents asked what was happening with the lights as they flickered, electrocuting Vanya again, as Harlan felt and reacted to everything she felt. Both her and him moaning as the FBI asked if she was there to kill the President.
"No, but you won't want her saving him either by killing you all." Luther grimly said.
At Allison's, Allison complained about people being heavier when dead as she wrapped the Swede in her rug, Ben asking Klaus what it was like for him when Ben possessed him, Klaus admitting it was like sex with a lesser Baldwin. Ben said it was like having no skin but still wanting to touch everything for himself.
"Surprisingly, I want to feel like that some day." Ben told Klaus.
"It sounds weird, but I guess I'd be up for at least trying it." Klaus admitted as Ben beamed at him.
Allison and Raymond dropped the rug as Herb and Diego entered with a briefcase, Herb noting with Three and Four there, they almost had an Umbrella straight flush. Diego made introductions before dropping the bombshell that Vanya causes the apocalypse by exploding the FBI building, leading to Russia and America both firing nukes at one another. At that, Ray had a meltdown.
"Poor Ray, he's had a fair bit put on him in only a few days in these recordings." Allison noted, frowning. She felt bad for the man, he only wanted to help people, he didn't deserve any of this.
"An Umbrella straight flush? I like Herb." Klaus announced.
"He seems nice." Diego agreed. "I'm sure he'll help us."
"You're bros." Klaus firmly said, nodding to Diego.
Herb offered the Commission's help in dealing with the body, as Allison told Raymond she loved him but she didn't have time for the breakdown he deserved, but she had to go, Raymond accepting it at once and telling her to go as the three of them left.
"He really is the perfect guy." Luther said, a dark shadow crossing his face as he said it. It was right, how could he compete with Raymond Chestnut? Loved Allison without knowing her all his life, fought for the good of others and didn't see himself as the leader or bigger than anyone else in the movement, did what he could to help everyone. Sure, Luther did most of this himself, in his own way, but there was no way he could compete with Ray, could he?
Allison saw this and frowned. "Luther, can we have a private word?"
"Yeah." He said sadly, moving to a corner of the room with her. "What's up?" He asked, knowing where she would go with this, telling him she had grown to like Ray during all this, and she wanted his blessing. It would hurt, he knew it would, but he would give her it, he owed her that much.
"Are you jealous of Ray?" Allison asked, deciding to just jump into it.
"So what if I am?" Luther asked defensively.
"You big idiot, he is that husband of that version of me, not mine. I love you, you giant idiot!" Allison berated him, before grabbing him and kissing him whilst he stood there surprised.
"But, what about us agreeing we were going to just keep it as we were, to let it go?"
"I don't want to let you go, Luther Hargreeves, do you want to let me go?"
"No, I don't, Allison Hargreeves." Luther told her with a smile, his cheeks colouring as he gave her a kiss in return.
The two of them moved back to the others, who just looked bored.
"It was about time you two just got over yourselves and admitted you wanted to be together after all." Diego said, the others nodded.
Lila came into Orientation to find Diego had left with the agent having no clue where he was, as Lila headed to try find him.
"She's going to be pissed to find you've already escaped the Commission." Klaus said.
At the FBI building, the agent asked again who Vanya was, as Reginald told her to eat up, as it was getting cold, telling her she was choosing to pretend and choosing not to remember, telling her she was hiding in a silly life on a silly farm, pointing to a portrait of Carl, Sissy and Harlan.
"A happy life? How is that a silly life?" Vanya asked her father, who ignored her.
The three siblings entered the FBI elevator and headed towards where Vanya was, as Reginald goaded her into eating, telling her she could go after one last bite, which she took, before being assaulted by memories, remembering everything.
"Oh, she's gonna be pissed now." Klaus remarked.
The agents tried to unplug Vanya, their equipment failing, as the White Violin exploded out of Vanya once more, Harlan still convulsing in his home, as Vanya attacked them all with waves, killing agents and draining their life force, as her three siblings struggled out of the elevator and towards her, seeing dead agents everywhere.
"Damn, you all need to get in there and help her, quick." Ben told Klaus.
"I'm sure we will." Klaus reassured him.
Klaus asked why she hadn't stopped if the FBI were all dead, as she threw open her eyes, showing they were pure white, as Harlan did the same back at the farm, before the screen turned to black again.
"So, I guess the White Violin is back." Vanya said grimly.
ALLISON DID NOT DESERVE RAYMOND CHESTNUT, NONE OF US DO!
Oh and by the way, it's 743 next, aka time for my bitch crying whilst writing the script part, but I had an idea on something in work and let me just say, you'll hate me.
