(Clementine's Pov)
It's been a few good months as I was walking around the states. I haven't gone back to Virginia at any point I tried to steer clear of going there. I take a breath as I fixed my bag to my back and I looked to the woods as I kept walking. Currently I was in Savana and I headed over to the old jewelry store and look to it a bit before I head back to the water and I put my supplies on the canoe and then got in. You'd think I would get tired of the waters, and you would be right, some days I do, but some days it's quite enjoyable. I was able to fully lay down after cutting one of the seats out, and it was easier to go by the water than on the road, don't see anyone out on the water and even if people did see my canoe, they probably think that it's a Walker in it. As I was going down the river, I would look around a bit as I reach the wooded area. I could look to the side and even see the train I had rode almost nine years ago. I decided to make a quick stop and row the boat to the side and tie the rope to the makeshift pole I carried. I go up to the train and looked around a bit to make sure no one was living there. lucky for me there was no body not even a Walker. I go in one of the box carts and looked around and saw the blood on the floor where Duck and Kattja were. I take a seat by the open door and take a breath as I remember Lee and I talking and I close my eye.
"Damn it's been so long." I say and stretch a bit. I just look around and listen a bit before I decided I had rested enough and I go back to the canoe. As I was just drifting in the water, I would just take the time to think to myself. I have been doing this for a while but I never got to really think. Would I like to head back to Virginia? Sure. Would I like to see AJ and the others? Of course. Would they let me back in? I doubt it, after I just left the way I did I think they're still angry at me. Could I blame them? No, not at all… especially Violet. I shake my head at the thought.
"Come on Clem, stop thinking about her." I mutter as I row a bit. We weren't together long; hell were we even actually together? It was fun talking with her, it was nice actually, but as I said relationships are just fucked, Louis proved that. I take a deep breath and I lay back and let the river take me wherever. It wasn't a bad thing though, I mean she never made me uncomfortable; she knew when to stop, she asked if I was ok with anything, she is a wonderful person in general. But me? No not at all, I just left, I told her it wasn't her fault and it wasn't but she looked so broken when I left. Was it a good idea? No but also yes. Why? Because I didn't want them to fight with each other, I wanted AJ to be safe and not have to keep traveling like I've been doing through the years. I lay back in the canoe and try to get comfortable for however long I was going to just drift and I look to the sky a bit as I see a few birds here and there. I did have some fishing gear so I planned on catching something then head to land for a bit to eat. I sit up as I look around and see some familiar landmarks which is surprising after all the buildings have dilapidated over the years.
I take a stop by a riverbank and grabbed the makeshift pole and jam it into the ground and then proceeded to get my fishing gear. It was an ok day to say I mean as ok as it can be. All I have been doing is going place to place wherever the river took me and I would look to the river a bit and I pull in a few fish which was nice. I put the pole back in the canoe and I start a small fire to cook the food. I was finished with my food and I get some water and smother the flames then get back into the canoe and began my journey down the river. It was a few more days before I finally get to a state line and realized to late that I had gone into Virginia.
"God damn it." I mutter as I grabbed the ore and decided to just fucking deal with it. It took a few days before I finally reached the river where the school was near and I make a stop. As I was placing the makeshift pole into the ground, I hear a bucket drop and I turn to see AJ and Violet as they looked to me.
"Clem." AJ says then he runs up and hugged me and I hugged him back.
"Violet said you'd be back." He says and I look to her a bit.
"Uh AJ why don't you go um take the fish back to Omar, I'll help Clementine." She says and he looked to me and I nod to him and he nods and goes back to the school after violet handed him the fish. I look to her and rubbed my neck a bit.
"You good?" She asked and I look at her.
"Yeah… you?" I asked.
"Fine, still limping haha." She laughed a little and I look to her.
"You told him I would be back?" I asked and she nods as I head to the canoe and went to grab my bag. She then grabbed it from me and I look to her a bit.
"Couldn't tell him you wouldn't be back, just that you were… scouting the Delta group if you found them." She tells me and I stand up a bit and look to her more.
"You should have-."
"Wasn't going to make you look like the bad guy." She says and I rubbed the back of my neck a bit.
"How was your uh… trip I guess?" She asked as we walked back to the school.
"It uh… it was fine, nothing new really… went to wherever the river took me." I explained to her and she just looked ahead not at me so I stopped.
"Did anything happen?" I asked and she stopped and looked to me and she rubbed the back of her head a bit then looked to the school.
"Nothing bad, if that's what you're wondering about." She says and I look to her a bit.
"You sure?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure." She says and I look to the woods a bit and she sighed.
"You should be angry with me." I tell her as I look to her.
"I'm not… I have no reason or right to be angry at you."
"Yes, you do." I tell her.
"Why?" She asked and I look to her as she looked to me.
"I fucking left, people get mad at that-."
"You left because you had your reasons, I can't be mad at that, besides you can come and go as you please." She tells me.
"I hurt you." I tell her and she shrugged.
"I learned to deal with it, plus what we did was something you weren't use to so I get it." She says.
"But I just… I left AJ." I tried to say.
"And that's fine, he likes it here, he's with kids he likes, didn't starve or anything as is protected by walls, it's what you wanted for him." She tells me and I clench my hands into fists.
"Why are you being so forgiving?" I asked her and she takes a breath and opened her mouth to say something but then closed it.
"Because… everyone has their reasons to do what they do… I listened to you so I get a bit of the picture, and to be honest I was angry in the beginning… I was sad too but… I don't know I just thought about the things you've told me." She says and I unclench my hands.
"Now come on, the others are probably excited to see you." She says as she starts walking and I run up beside her.
"Did you tell them?" I asked as we walked.
"Told them the same thing I told AJ." She tells me and I look to her as she just kept looking forward. I look to see the school and she goes up and opens the gate and we both come in.
"CLEM!" Some of the teens said and they came up to us.
"I'm going to put your bag in your room." Violet says and I nod as she leaves and then everyone was asking me questions.
"I uh… had to travel a bit to get any information on where the Delta could be." I tell Aasim as he asked me what I've been doing. It wasn't a complete lie I have heard some information on the group here and there and have asked questions on them, when I wanted to talk to people.
"Are you going to be heading out again?" Tenn asked.
"Maybe, not really sure when." I tell him honestly. It wasn't long till they had dinner and I look to Violet as she went to the watch tower after dinner and the other kids went to bed. I go up to her and she was messing with her guitar a bit but she didn't play it.
"Haven't heard you play in a while." I say and she turned to look at me then back to the woods.
"I uh… haven't had a reason to." She tells me and I take a seat next to her. We kept quiet for a bit and I could hear her breathing and I look to the woods.
"When did you stop playing?" I asked.
"…After you left." She tells me and I look to her and she kept looking to the woods.
"I'm sor-."
"Don't apologize…. Please don't." She tells me and I nod and look back to the woods and saw a few Walkers.
"How… is your eye?" I asked and she looked to me and lifted up her patch and covered her good eye and squinted at me a bit and smiled.
"Yep, still a blob." She laughed and then moved her patch back and I wanted to laugh and she looked to me.
"It's ok to laugh." She says and I just clear my throat.
"I uh… hm." I tried to say something and I feel her place a hand on my shoulder and I look to her a bit as she smiled.
"It's good to see you Clem." She tells me and I feel the tears in my eyes. I thought I could do things on my own, I thought being in a group I would cause more issues for them. I left them and yet they're still happy that I came back even though I never wanted to. I look to her as she looked to me and she opened her arms a bit and I look to her.
"It's ok to cry." She tells me and I feel more tears fall from my eyes and I hugged her. I held her tightly as she hugged me back just as hard. I feel my body shake with the sobs and I feel her rub my back.
"It's ok." She whispered and I feel a sob escape from me and I held the back of her shirt tightly.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I hurt you." I tell her.
"It's ok Clem." She whispers to me. I don't know how long we sat there; she even began to rock a little as I held on to her. It wasn't long till I did stop crying and I was laying my head in her lap. She was rubbing my head gently it was nice and I look up to her a bit as she was looking to the woods.
"So, what else did you do?" I hear her ask as she looked down to me and I looked to her shirt a bit.
"Nothing much, I would just lay in the canoe and let the river take me wherever, though I did make sure I didn't go near beaches." I tell her and I look up to her as she nods.
"Was it nice?" She asked and I look back to her shirt again.
"It was very nice at night, when it wasn't raining, I could see the stars in the water… and with no Walkers I could hear the animals." I tell her and I feel her shift a bit so I sit up a bit as she moved and then laid my head back on her lap when she rubbed my head again.
"Sounds nice." She says quietly and I nod a bit. I then grabbed her free hand and I feel her eyes on me and I look up a bit to her and then moved her hand so I could look at it. I see some scars on her hand and I hold it just for a little longer.
"I didn't mean to do it." I tell her and she hums a bit.
"Do what?" She asked.
"Leave." I tell her.
"I told you I get it." She tells me and I nod.
"I know but… you should at least hear it." I tell her.
"That's fine." She tells me and I nod a bit.
"Hey you two, we've come to take over." I hear and look to see Ruby.
"Oh, thank god, you and Aasim stopped making out." Violet laughed.
"Shut it, I'll whack you with Omar's spoon." Ruby says and Violet laughed more. We got up and left the watch tower as Ruby took shift and Violet looked to me as we walked back to the school.
"I know this might be a bit of a stretch but… want to stay in my room? AJ and Tenn usually sleep in your old room." She tells me and I nod a bit. We head to her room and she takes her boots off and I do as well and she lays on her bed and I look to her and she looked to me.
"Well?" She asked and I get in the bed with her and she moved a bit so her back was to the wall on her side and her arm was used to support her head as she leaned on it and I look at her.
"Ruby and Aasim got together?" I asked and she nods a bit.
"Yep, got together… two weeks after you left." She tells me and I nod a bit and look to her. I then look to the bed a bit before I look to her.
"What has happened while I was away?" I asked.
"Nothing much really, just the whole watching and waiting, well I mean we did go into town a few times, found a really cool leather jacket, and look." She says as she pointed to the boots, she had taken off.
"New boots." She says then I look back to her as she looked to me.
"Your old ones finally gave out?" I asked and she nodded.
"Yeah, we were in town when the bottoms finally gave out, but lucky for me, we were near an old shoe store." She says.
"We got AJ some new clothes and shoes too especially with summer coming up." She tells me and I nod just a little as I think.
"So how long do you plan on staying?" She asked and I look to her.
"I'm not to sure, maybe a few days." I admitted and she nods.
"That's fine, better than nothing." She says and I nod and I lay back and look to the bed on top. We stayed silent for a good while before I turned to look to Violet and it seems that she had fallen asleep. It was a little funny to see her sleeping with her head perched up by her hand and I sit up a bit as I helped move her to lay down properly. I look down to her a bit and I looked to the side and to the window. I couldn't fall asleep so I decided to get up and take a walk around the school.
"Well hello Clem." I hear and look to see Louis as he was sitting outside at the table and he was shuffling a deck of cards.
"Hey Louis." I say and he nods and he motions for me to sit with him. I go to the other side and sit across from him and he hands me half a deck of cards and he flipped his top card. I flip mine and I had the high card so I take them and set them to the side.
"So how is everything?" He asked and I shrugged as we kept playing.
"Same old same old." I tell him as I flipped the card and he flips his, winning the cards.
"So… about what happened-."
"I would suggest not bringing that up." I tell him and I look to him.
"I just… I didn't mean for anything bad to happen." He tells me and I look to the cards as I flipped mine and waited for him to flip his.
"I was a bit upset yes but… I am sorry." He says and flipped his card, I won this set.
"Doesn't matter anyway, you just reminded me why I hate relationships, but now with the fact that jealousy is a thing." I tell him.
"I wasn't trying to-."
"Louis, there is no point in bringing this up, I'm not getting with you, and I'm not getting back with Violet, and she understands that." I tell him.
"She was crying when you left." He says and I look to him a bit as we kept playing.
"So?" I asked.
"Don't you feel a little bad?" He asked.
"Why should I?" I asked him and I look to him as he looks back to me. He sighed a bit and flipped his card and I flipped mine.
"You hit her she hit you, you were mad because I actually like someone, but I was a hypocrite and broke one of the rules I have made for myself… people always get hurt when it comes to this… I mean I'll be honest I felt bad in the beginning, I still like her, but to do that to her again? That's just a cruel thing to do to her, don't you think?" I asked him as we had the same cards. I drew three and flipped my fourth as did he and I won.
"So, if there was a possibility… you wouldn't take it?" He asked and I nod as I set the last of the cards in the new deck and we kept playing.
"Why? So, you could get mad again? So that she can get hurt again when I leave? So you two would fight over me? I'm not special, I'm just a new person in your lives, you didn't take the time to really get to know me, but she did, and it was nice, but now I get it, there is no point to wanting to try again if the same things happen." I tell him.
"I understand what I did was wrong and I apologized to her." He says.
"That still doesn't change the fact that me and her will not get back together, she hasn't asked, I haven't asked, so leave it at that… besides I'll be out of here in a few days so what's the point?" I asked him.
"You'll be back, right?" He asked and I nod.
"Sometimes, maybe I'll let AJ come with me if he wants to." I say as we kept playing till I had most of the cards.
"I just want to say sorry for what I did." He says and I shrugged.
"It happened and it's done and over with, no point in trying to mend anything good out of something terrible." I tell him as I hand the cards back to him.
"I do have to ask though; didn't you know she would be sad with the way you acted? You two were good friends, and I assume you two have mended some of that friendship back, so why would you do something like that to her?" I asked a little curious as to what he had to say.
"I was upset that she did get the new girl, but once we found out that Minerva could have been alive, at the time I thought she should have backed off, I mean she learned her girlfriend could be alive." He says and I crossed my arms on the table and lean in a bit.
"So, you thought she shouldn't have tried a relationship with me just because there was a possibility Minerva could have been alive? Without knowing if Minerva had changed from who she was? Which let's be honest here I'm not the same kid I was when all this started, I mean damn I was a kid and I had killed people, Walkers, tricked others, stole, lied even when I was told before all this that those were the wrong things to do." I explained to him.
"I mean think a little Louis, you aren't the same, no one is the same, especially with a group like that." I tell him.
"Can you still see it from my point of view though?" He asked.
"Oh, I see it, jealousy is one crazy bitch, I've seen people beat their own brother because one girl had decided to take it upon herself to get two brothers mad at each other because she didn't like her husband anymore, and the brother had no romantic feelings for her." I tell him and he looked to me.
"Was a pretty fucked up day… funny thing is, the younger brother didn't even fight back, just kept telling his brother he loved him… I did ask why and it was a promise he made to his father to not fight his brother… but I will be honest I am nothing like the woman, I was never in a relationship with you and lost feelings and tried to be with your friend." I tell him.
"That's… kind of messed up… what she did." He says.
"It's kind of like what you did." I tell him.
"But I said I was sorry." He says and I shrugged.
"She probably would have too… that still doesn't change what was done." I tell him.
"So, there is no chance of you two getting together?" He asked.
"As far as I know, there is no chance." I say to him and I head over to the dorm rooms and I go check on AJ as he and Tenn. were still up and drawing whatever.
"Hey Clem." AJ says and I nod and go over to him as he showed me his drawing. He has gotten a lot better than a few months back. They even gave me some papers so I could draw too and I did, though I just drew some landscapes.
"So how was it out there?" Tenn asked and I look to him a bit.
"It was fine, same thing with Walkers and people, surprised I saw as many as I did." I tell him.
"A caravan came by a week after you left, they were nice." AJ says and I look to him.
"That's good… they haven't come by a lot, have they?" I asked.
"Maybe once or twice, but they gave us some goods for goods." Tenn says and I nod at this.
"No one there seemed off?" I asked them.
"No, not really." AJ says and I nod again and after an hour I felt a little tired so I tell them to have a good night and that I'll be in Violet's room if they needed me. They nod and I head to the room and look to see Violet was still sleeping and I head over to the bed a bit and got on the top bunk.
"Hmm, Clem?" I head and moved to look down to see Violet waking up a bit.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Hmm, here." She says as she handed me a pillow and I take it. I then look to her as she got up and grabbed something from the closet and handed me a blanket. I take that as well and she got back in her bed and I set up my bed a bit. I lay on my back and look to the ceiling a bit and place my hands on the back of my head.
"Hmm, welcome home." I hear Violet mutter and I turn my head a bit to the side and closed my eyes.
"Thanks." I say but there was no response, she must have fallen asleep again. I was woken up by a simple shake to my shoulder and look to see AJ as he looked to me.
"Sorry you slept in." He says and I nod and sit up a bit and stretched my back a bit to hear it crack.
"Sorry for sleeping in." I tell him and then the door opened and I look to see Violet as she came in.
"You're awake." She says and I nod as I get down from the bed and cracked my neck a bit.
"Sorry guess sleeping in a canoe for a while made me miss the bed." I joke and she nods and hands me a bowl.
"Well, if you want AJ and I were going to head out to see if any of the traps were set off, so if you want to come, you can." She says and I nod.
"Sure, need to do something while I'm here." I say as I stretched a bit more and I get up. They let me get some breakfast before we headed out and I was looking at the river a bit and saw as Violet checked the traps and I go over to her as she lowered one of the traps back into the water after putting some bait inside it. I kept my eyes to the woods a bit before she got up.
"You good there Clem?" She asked and I nod.
"Yeah just… can't be too careful." I tried to laugh and she nods.
"Yeah… I actually had to stop coming out this way for a while." She tells me and I look to her a bit.
"Why?" I asked.
"I was dumb and kept coming here at night… Walker almost got me but it's fine, I was able to kill it." She tells me and I look to her more as she looked to me.
"Wasn't bad, just snuck up on me." She says with a shrug. As if it was no big deal. I look down the river a bit and then back to the traps as I helped her. AJ had gone down the river a bit with a spear and was catching quiet a lot of fish.
"So, uh… how did you sleep?" I asked her.
"Slept fine, what about you?" She asked.
"Slept fine as well… I mean I overslept but, you know." I say and she laughed a bit and nods.
"Yeah, but I get it, sometimes we want to sleep in, no shame." She says and I nod a bit and we pulled out a trap and then she waved to AJ.
"AJ, I think we got enough." She says and he called out a yeah and then grabbed the bucket and spear to go put up. She then took the fish and set them in the bucket and I looked around some more. AJ then came over just as we set the trap back into the water and I was about to grab the bucket but Violet got it before I could. She started to walk back to the school and I followed her as we stayed silent. When we got to the school Violet hands AJ the bucket and he runs to Omar and I stay by Violet a bit and then I could feel her eyes on me.
"Anything else?" I asked.
"Yeah we can go check the other traps in the woods." She says and I nod as we head out.
"AJ not allowed to check these traps?" I asked her.
"Oh he can, just… wanted to know more abut your trip honestly." She tells me and I look to her.
"Really?" I asked and she nods.
"Yeah, I mean if you want to talk about it." She says and I looked around the woods a bit.
"A fish once jumped int the canoe." I tell her and she laughed at this. Like an honest laugh not one of those fake ones.
"D-Did it hit you in the face?" She asked and I smiled.
"Nah but I was sleeping and it just makes a thump hitting the damn inside of the canoe… was so damn weird but hey, easy dinner that night." I tell her and she chuckled at this.
"Oh, shit I would have love to have seen that." She says and I nod at this.
"One time AJ and I were just walking out here and Louis was with us, and I see those bee hives, well Louis being the lovable idiot he is, tells AJ he's going to take the hive so we could have honey… let's just say that boy got stung and was running faster than I have ever seen." She tells me and I laughed at this.
"And AJ says 'Well…. Did you get the honey?' and it had me laughing so much." She says and I laughed some more.
"Funny thing, I got to a farm a while back and saw some sunflower fields, and I remembered that sunflower seeds came from them… go up to the plants and let me tell you they were so fucking huge." I tell her kind of exaggerating the height of the plants.
"Did you get some?" She asked and I nodded.
"Actually have a bag full in my backpack, when we get back you want some?" I asked and she nods.
"Haven't had any in a long time." She says and I nod as we checked the traps. We had some that had nothing in them but there was two that had some pretty small rabbits and they were still alive so Violet let them go.
"To small but hey least they got grabbed by their lucky foots." She says with a chuckle and I look to her a bit confused and she looked to me a bit.
"What? Never heard of a lucky rabbit's foot?" She asked.
"I thought they were fake feet." I tell her and she laughed.
"The ones they gave to kids yes, I don't think they could have handled a real one… though now I think it's pretty cool." She says.
"You think we can find any skulls out here?" I asked and looked around.
"Oh yeah, found this awesome deer skull once, gave it to AJ." She says and I look to her a bit.
"He's been collecting?" I asked.
"Well, he saw you collecting some so he thought it was cool." She explained and I nod.
"Saw a cow skull too, but it was to broken, if I picked it up it would have crumbled." She tells me and points in the direction she found it.
"Or it was a bull, it had the horns." She says.
"A wild bull? Here?" I asked.
"A little out the town area, like I said we had gone out more past the once placed safe zone." She says and I nod.
"So, there was a farm here?" I asked.
"Must have, or it was able to escape and somehow not get eaten by walkers… I think." She tells me and I nod. We walked some more and I had to be honest it was nice. Just walking and talking with Violet, and it was nice being around her, she was easy to talk with.
"So, I talked with Louis last night." I tell her as we walked.
"Oh? What about?" She asked.
"Hmm, just dumb stuff." I say.
"Anything he talks about could be classified as dumb." She says and I laughed a bit.
"I don't know how he thinks the way he does." I say.
"What? Did he say something dumb like always?" She asked.
"Kind of… I mean it made no sense to me, but then some things did…. I think." I tell her.
"Well, if you tell me I could probably help." She suggested as we go up to a trap and she fixed it.
"…He was asking about us… kind of, just… wondering if you and I would get back together." I tell her.
"Oh, I don't see that happening." She says and I look to her a bit as she gets up after resetting the trap. She wiped her hands on her pants and she looked to me.
"I mean after all that happened, I wouldn't want to deal with that again." She says and we look to each other.
"I mean yeah I get it, but I don't know why he brought it up." I tell her.
"Guess he still feels bad? But like I said I wouldn't want to go through that again… he was mad but… I don't think I'd like to have another fight if he changed his mind." She says and rubbed her cheek a bit and I look to her and we walked again.
"So, you have thought about it?" I asked.
"I mean in the beginning, yeah but I got to thinking." She says and I nod.
"Relationships are dumb anyway." I tell her and she laughed.
"Yeah, you were right." She says quietly and I look to her.
"But I have to say… being with you was actually nice." I tell her and she looked to me a bit.
"Oh?" she asked and I nodded.
"Like I said, you made it nice, you listened, we didn't argue, you are very sweet when you want to be… you took your time with me and understood that I had my limits when it came to relationship stuff… you didn't push me into anything and you always asked in some way if it was ok… it was nice, and I was happy." I tell her and she nods and we began walking back to the school.
"It was nice, and honestly I liked the slow pace… never understood why people would go so fast in relationships." She says and I nod.
"Yeah it was nice… I don't know it got me thinking a bit, don't know why." I tell her.
"Maybe because you still have feelings?" She jokes and I shrugged.
"I'll be honest, I do still have feelings, but to act on them now would just be cruel." I tell her.
"How so?" She asked.
"Well… I'm not staying long, and who knows when I'll be back… plus what if another girl comes to the school? and what if she likes you?" I asked and she laughed.
"Hey the fact I got to meet you was a rarity, I don't think people these days are all going to be gay." She says.
"Well me being a bisexual I'm just rolling in the partners." I joked and she laughed at this.
"Everyone wants a piece of the Clemster?" She asked and I look to her.
"Oh, please never say that name again." I say to her.
"What? Clemster?" She asked with a smirk.
"I mean it, I may be small but I can break bones." I tell her.
"Ok Clemster." She says and I punched her arm but not that hard.
"Oh, ow you wound me Clemster." She says with a laugh and I hit her again.
"Alright, alright I surrender, Clem wins." She says and I nod.
"Good… Fucking Clemster really?" I asked her and she laughed.
"What? Not a good nickname?" She asked.
"Terrible, just terrible." I say shaking my head.
"And here I thought you were better at giving out nicknames, it hurt to see how low you've gotten Vi." I tell her and she laughed.
"Ok how about… Orange." She says and I look to her.
"Sweet pea?" She asked and I looked to the side a bit and then smiled just a little.
"Ironically Lee use to call me that." I tell her.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry." She says.
"No, no it's fine." I tell her.
"I didn't mean to… bring up some past memories." She says quietly.
"Hey it's fine, wasn't a bad memory… I actually haven't heard that nickname in so long." I tell her and she nods.
"Still, I just… I don't know." She says and I look ahead of us.
"It's fine Vi, anyway, what else have you done?" I asked.
"Oh uh… well summer is here and stuff… found some cargo shorts, but I'd only wear them if I'm not leaving the school grounds, can't have walkers see these pale legs." She says and I shake my head with a smile. She laughed at her own joke and I shoved her a bit.
"Man, I don't remember the last time I wore shorts, a dress yes, but shorts… no majority of it was pants." I say.
"Well, we all got a bunch of them, so hey if you want take some." She says and I shrugged.
"Maybe." I say and we finally get to the school as she was telling me about how Louis threw his chair leg at a walker.
"And it got stuck in the walkers head, he just yelled out tomahawk go." She laughed as we opened the gates. I laughed a this because it seemed funny. AJ runs over to us and takes me over to the tables as he was showing me what he and Tenn had drawn and I look to it a bit.
"Looks good you two, AJ you've gotten really good." I say and he nods. Proudly showing me his work. It was a while before we had dinner and I was currently drawing a picture with AJ and Tenn before I see a bowl being placed beside me and I look to see Ruby and then Violet gave the boys their bowls too.
"Oh shit, sorry." I say.
"No need to worry, hey that looks really good." Ruby says as she looked to my drawing. It was of my old home.
"Thanks." I say.
"I'm guessing that's your home?" She asked as she took a seat next to me and I nod.
"Yeah, I'm not that good at drawing houses and stuff, and it's what I remember it use to look like… I'm better with drawing land and stuff." I explained and she nods.
"Clementine is a really good drawer." AJ says and I look to him.
"I see that, and you are too." Ruby says.
"That's cause Tenn is a good teacher." He says and I smiled. He was happy at least. I'm glad he was happy. I set the pencil to the side and I grabbed the bowl and ate some of the stew. It was good as always, then again Omar always made sure his food tasted good before serving it to everyone.
"Hey Violet, need you to stay here for the day tomorrow, Aasim, Omar, Willy and I are heading into the town to see if we can get more of those seeds and gardening tools, maybe get some stuff to make an extra greenhouse too." Ruby says and I see Violet nod at this.
"How will you bring all the stuff here?" I asked.
"Well, we have the old smaller carts from the raiders we found some of them by the river, easy for us to pull too, heck we even have a bike." She explained.
"Like a motorcycle?" I asked.
"Nah, fuel has gotten bad after this long it's just a regular bike." Aasim says as he comes over.
"Actually, that's a good idea, it's quiet, and you still have a fast get away." I mutter as I think.
"Yeah, actually we were going to grab a few more, Violet said we should teach AJ how to ride one." Tenn says and I look to Violet who was chatting a bit with AJ and she drew a bit on the paper when AJ asked what she was talking about.
"I was lucky to find the car when we did then." I say.
"The fact you were able to get fuel is amazing too." Aasim says and I nod.
"Yeah, didn't know the stuff could go bad." I say. We all chat a bit and then it was time for the boys to go to bed and I helped bring their bowls to the cleaning area and I helped with cleaning the bowls and spoons. When done I was drying my hands and I look to Violet as she grabbed the cleaned bowls and put them away for tomorrow.
"I have look out in a few hours, so I'm going to get some sleep." She says and I nod at this as she headed into the school. I look to her and then I decided to follow her. She opens the door and then waits for me to come in so I do and she takes her boots off and then lays on her bed.
"You want to go on watch with me?" She asked as she turned her head to look at me and I nod a bit at this.
"Yeah, if you don't mind that is." I say.
"Nah it's nice having someone be on watch with you, least you aren't bored." She says and then turned her head to look at the bead above her and I look up to it then I grabbed the blanket and pillow and brought it down and she looked to me a bit and scoots over in the bed so her back was on the wall and I set up the pillow and blanket. I lay in the bed with her and I look to her as she looked to me.
"Hey." She says and I smile a bit.
"Hey." I say back.
"How are you?" She asked.
"Fine, and you?" I asked back.
"Fine as can be." She says.
"So, you're going to show off your pale legs tomorrow?" I asked.
"Sure, I could use a tan." She joked and we both chuckled at this.
"Get some sleep you goof." She says and I nod and I closed my eyes. It was a nice nap if I have to be honest. I didn't have a bad dream it was just a nice dream, like I would have when I was younger.
