(Violet's Pov)
I looked over to Clementine as she had finally fallen asleep. It was weird having her back but not weird in a bad way just. I thought she would never come back after what happened. I was watching her as she slept and I move my hand to move some hair out of her face. I hear a soft knock at the door so I do my best to move off the bed without waking Clem up and I head to the door. I open it to see Aasim.
"Hey sorry for waking you up." He says.
"Nah it's fine I didn't get any sleep anyway." I tell him.
"Well, if you want, I don't mind taking a longer shift." He says and I shake my head.
"Nah it's fine, I'll take my turn just give me a few to get my boots on." I tell him and he nods and I closed the door then went and grabbed my boots. once I had them on, I look over to Clementine a bit and I rubbed the back of my head before I got up and left the room. I go and take my spot on the watch tower and watch for anything.
"You aren't very sneaky." I hear and look to see Clem and I chuckled.
"Sorry I thought you needed the sleep." I tell her as she takes a seat next to me.
"You should know I'm a night owl not a day bird." She says and I chuckled at this.
"That's a nice way of putting it." I say and she nods and leans on me and I look to her a bit. I move my arm and looked back to the woods a bit as we just sat here.
"Hehe, night owl, day bird." I mutter.
"Well, I am glad you think it's funny." She says and I smiled at her a bit.
"I think it's adorable." I say and she laughed a little. I look over to her a bit and I shake my head a bit as I look back to the woods. I feel her shift a bit and she grabbed something.
"I promised seeds." She says and I chuckled as she opened the baggy and I held my hand out as she poured some into my hand. I ate a few of the seeds and I look back out to the woods.
"Wish we had some seasoning for these but there is nothing we can do." I say and she giggled.
"I would love to have some seasoning." She says and I nod. The seeds were good though. I smile and think as I finished the last seed and I grabbed my guitar and plucked a few strings. I feel Clem lean on me a bit and I look to her a bit as I strummed the guitar.
"This is nice." She says quietly and I couldn't help but smile. I nod and strum the guitar a little more and I would look back out to the woods. I couldn't help but look at her as she had her eyes closed and she looked relaxed. I kept strumming some strings here and there, it was out of randomness, I wasn't playing a song just making it up as I go.
"You still want to learn?" I asked her.
"Hmm no I like hearing you play." She says quietly and I look to her a bit.
"But wouldn't you want to learn even a little?" I asked her.
"If we find another guitar sure… but for now listening to you play is nice." She tells me and I nod. The sun had started to come up and I set the guitar to the side and we leave the tower. I then go and get some breakfast and after a while the others go and I was going over to the greenhouse and I checked on the plants a bit.
"VIOLET!" I hear and I rush out the greenhouse and look to see AJ and Tenn as they run up to me.
"What's going on? Everything ok? did anyone get hurt?" I asked.
"No, no sorry we just wanted to show you what we planned." AJ says and I look to him confused.
"Planned?" I asked.
"Yeah, come look over here." Tenn says and I follow them as they took me to the back of the school to where the playground was. They had some papers out and there was some old kind of boxes and it looked like a castle.
"Well hell you boys sure have active imaginations." I say as I look at their work a bit. They had been working on their box castle.
"If we had more boxes, we could have made it bigger." AJ says and I nod.
"Hmm maybe we can get those big boxes from the stores one day." I say and they nod. It was a few hours before I had gone back to the greenhouse and I see Clementine in there but she was sitting on the wooden tables by the window and I go over to her and she looked up to me.
"The boys show you, their castle?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, told them we could get bigger boxes one day." I tell her and she nods. We just stood there a while but it was a nice quiet. I showed her what we've done with the greenhouse.
"What the heck is that?" Clem asked and I looked to see some plant she was looking at and I coughed a bit and rubbed the back of my neck.
"Oh uh, that's just uh… well it's weed." I tell her.
"Shit really?" She asked and I nod at this.
"Yeah, Ruby says that it can be used as medicine too, and since some of this medicine is going bad well why not, plus it's helped Marlon a bit so again why not?" I asked and she nod and I think a bit as I go over and grabbed a jar and then grabbed some of the joints that Ruby had rolled with the help of Aasim. I go over to Clem and wave the joint a bit.
"Want to try some?" I asked.
"You think that's a good idea?" She asked.
"I don't see why not? Plus, not like we're going to use the whole joint, so we can still think right." I say and then there was a sound of something knocking over and I look to see nothing.
"Hu… strange." Clem says and I nod. I then looked to her and she shrugged and I grabbed the lighter from my pocket and lit the joint and inhale a bit. I then hand her the joint and she looked to it and I blow out the smoke a bit and she inhaled some but ended up coughing.
"Oh god that is… wow." She says and I laughed.
"Hell of a lot worse than cigarettes hu?" I asked and she laughed.
"I haven't smoked in a while… but this is different." She says and I nod a bit. We take a seat by the window and she handed me the joint and I look to her and I inhale some of the joint.
"You know… this is relaxing." She says and I look to her a bit.
"I don't think I have seen you quite relaxed." I tell her.
"Really?" she asked and I nod.
"I mean not to be rude or anything but honestly, you seemed really stiff." I tell her and she laughed a bit as she leaned her back against the window and I hand her the joint.
"I mean bitch is more like it." She says and I look to her a bit.
"You aren't a bitch." I tell her and she shrugged. When we finished the joint, we decided to leave the greenhouse and I went to open the door but it was locked.
"Hehe this is funny… can't open the door." I mutter and pull at the door but it wouldn't budge at all.
"Here let me, I have the strength of a grizzly bear." She says and I chuckled as she tried to open the door too but nothing. I couldn't help but laugh some more as she put her own foot to it and she pulled more.
"Damn door." She mutters and she let go of the door. I knocked on the door a bit and nothing.
"Hmm, ah forget it." She says and she takes a seat and I look to her. I then looked around the room and see an opening on the roof.
"Oh, we can climb up to the roof." I suggest and she looked up to it a bit.
"Or we could just sit here and relax." She tells me and I take a seat with her. I couldn't help but laugh a little at this.
"S-Stuck in a greenhouse… high." I laughed a little and so does she. I lean my head back onto the door and I look to the ceiling. I closed my eyes a bit and I feel a hand on top of mine but I don't open my eyes at all.
"I can hear you thinking." She says and I smirk.
"Really now?" I asked and I can hear her giggling.
"Yeah, you're thinking about… shit I don't know." She says and I laughed at this.
"You lied." I joke.
"I wasn't lying, I could read your mind." She says and I chuckled more.
"Oh, Oh I know." She says and I feel her move onto my lap and I look to her a bit. I couldn't help it but I place my hands on her waist and she had her hands on my shoulders.
"You still like me." She whispers.
"Yeah so?" I asked and she smiled.
"Why though?" She asked and I shrugged.
"Cause you're cool, and yet a mystery, but also sweet and yet a bad ass." I tell her.
"You think I'm sweet?" She asked and I nod.
"Yeah, when you want to be, and it's nice." I tell her honestly.
"Hmm, need to step up on my bad ass reputation." She mutters and I chuckled.
"How would you do that?" I asked.
"Hmm, maybe with a kiss." She says and I look to her.
"You sure you want to kiss me?" I asked her.
"Do you not want to kiss me?" She asked.
"Well, I want you to be sure, I mean you are a little out of it." I tell her.
"Well, I want to kiss you, right now." She says and I look to her a bit.
"You really sure?" I asked her.
"Yes, I'm sure, double sure." She tells me.
"How about we wait till you have a clear head?" I suggested and she looked to me.
"Do you not like me?" She asked.
"No, I mean… I do but… don't you want to have a clear head?" I asked her.
"I have a clear head; I would like to kiss you… but if you're uncomfortable." She says.
"I'm not uncomfortable at all, I just… don't want to ruin anything you know? I mean." I tried to think of something before she regretted all this.
"Can you wait till you're off your high?" I asked her and she shakes her head.
"Nooo, I want to kiss you now." She says and I gulped.
"H-how about a kiss on the cheek hu? t-that way you won't regret anything and it can be seen as platonic." I say and she shakes her head.
"No, I wanna kiss you on the lips." She says and then giggled. I look to her a bit and she looked to me.
"Why?" I asked. Talking seems to be keeping her from kissing me so I just had to keep her talking.
"Cause I wanna kiss you on the lips." She says.
"Yeah, but why exactly?" I asked her.
"Cause you're cute." She says and boops my nose and I look to her.
"Is that all?" I asked.
"Nooo, it's cause I like you, I still like you." She says and I nod a bit.
"Well, I thought we agreed that we wouldn't get back together." I tell her.
"Friends with benefits is a thing." She tells me and I look to her a bit.
"Well yeah but that involves… well you know." I tried to say.
"I know but I don't want that, I just like kissing you." She says and she moved her head to my neck and I swallowed a bit as she keeps her head there.
"You uh… you get pretty touchy when high." I chuckled and she looked to me as she moved her head from my neck.
"Is that a bad thing?" She asked.
"I mean… depends." I mutter.
"Oooh you only want me to touch you." She giggled and I clear my throat a bit.
"I uh, well you know I mean." I tried to say to her but she puts her face back to my neck.
"It's ok." She says quietly and I move my hands a bit.
"This is fun." She says and I moved a bit and she moves her head from my neck a bit and I feel her kiss my neck and I freeze up.
"Uh Clem."
"What?" She says and I just keep quiet and then take a breath. I put my hands back on her waist and she moved to look at me again.
"Violet? Clementine." I hear and I quickly but gently move Clem off of me and I go to the door.
"Hey we're in here." I called out and then the door was opened.
"How did you two end up trapped in here?" Ruby asked and I looked to see that there was a piece of wood on the side and I look to her.
"We don't know, I was just showing Clem the stuff we've done in the greenhouse." I say to her.
"Well looked like the board was put there on purpose…. Hey is Clem, ok?" Ruby asked.
"Uh well we kinda had a joint and well… she's never gotten high." I say as I rubbed my neck a bit embarrassed at this.
"Oh lord, how much did she have?" Ruby asked.
"I don't know maybe half? I got it from that jar." I tell her.
"Alright well… she's going to be a bit out of it." She says quietly.
"Hey Ruby this stuff was good." I hear Clem say and I look to her as she was holding the side of the door a bit.
"Well Hun you should go lay down for a bit." Ruby tells her and she looked to me.
"Violet mind taking her to the dorms?" She asked and I nod a bit as I go help Clementine and I see the boys as they looked over to us. I take Clem to my room and lay her on my bed.
"But I'm not tired." She mutters.
"Oh, trust me, you will be, I'll be right back ok?" I tell her.
"Nah, you stay in here." She tells me.
"Well I need to have a talk with the boys." I tell her.
"Why are they ok?" She asked as she sat up.
"They are, they just did something they shouldn't have done." I tell her.
"Oh well I can help-." She stopped as we hear some feet running away from the room and I sighed as I go look in the hall before the two boys could disappear.
"Alvin Junior, Tennessee, come back here right now." I say and they froze and turn to look at me as I crossed my arms.
"Come on, you two are in trouble." I say as they come over to me.
"We didn't do anything wrong." AJ says and I look to him then I close the door.
"Why did you two block the door?" I asked.
"We didn't do it." Tenn says and I look to them with my brow raised.
"Then who did? A Walker?" I asked.
"No, we don't know, but we were working on our box castle I swear." AJ says and I look to him as he looked to me and I take a breath.
"Come on, you two were the only ones here." I say to them.
"We aren't lying Violet, we swear we were in the back until the others came back, we thought you and Clem probably went out the walls." Tenn says and I uncrossed my arms.
"You two didn't put the board against the green house?" I asked.
"We swear we didn't." AJ says and I look to the both of them as they looked to me. The only way I'd know if they were lying is if they didn't look at me and I sighed.
"Alright, I believe you two, sorry for doubting you two." I tell them.
"Well, you owe us now." Tenn says.
"Alright, what do you two want?" I asked.
"I want to go out on the next trip to town with you." AJ says and I look to Tenn.
"Same here, and I want to get a new sketchbook and pencils." He says.
"Alright, not to hard to do." I say and they nod as they run back outside and I rubbed my neck a bit and looked to the door as I go in and take care of Clementine. It wasn't till late at night till she was ok and she was currently eating some of her sunflower seeds and was sitting next to her and she shared some of the seeds with me.
"How you feeling?" I asked her.
"Like I want to throw up, but can't." She mutters and I laughed.
"I didn't think about how'd you react to that stuff." I chuckled and she looked to me.
"Wouldn't mind doing it again, but right now I just want to die." She mutters and I rubbed her back gently.
"It's ok." I tell her and she nods. She finally ended up going to sleep and I cover her up and make sure to put the trash can by the bed for her just in case. I then walk out and see everyone looking at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Is Clem, ok?" Ruby asked and I nod.
"Yeah, she just said she felt like throwing up, but she's sleeping now, was going to get her something to eat later." I tell her.
"Well, that's good that she didn't have a freak out." Aasim says and I nod as I go and grabbed a bowl for Clem and then head back to the room.
-One Week Later-
Clementine was still here with us and AJ and her were currently walking ahead of Tenn, Louis and I as we were heading into the town. As I promised we were getting Tenn his sketchbooks and pencils and AJ got to come with us. We didn't speak about the incident that happened last week and I was a little glad about that. Currently we were in the town and I was looking in the window of one building and then I go over to the next building as the others looked in them as well. Tenn and AJ found some things they wanted, Sketchbooks, Pencils, Colored pencils, even some paint as well.
"I'm glad we could find this stuff, now we can paint the castle." Tenn says and I nod as we put the stuff in their bags. We kept looking in the town to see if we could find anything else to take but nothing seemed good. I looked over to Clementine as she was talking with Louis and I look to the side and grabbed a book and looked through it a bit.
"You good there?" I hear and turn my head a bit to see Clem as she came up next to me and I nod. I closed the book and tapped the book to my hand and then look to her.
"Yeah, I'm fine, what about you?" I asked her.
"I'm fine." She tells me and looked to the book and I read it a bit.
"A romance book?" She asked and I look to it and then put it on the shelf.
"Was just looking at it." I tell her.
"No shame." She says and I look back to the other books and found a few old ones that I remember reading when I was around Tenn's age. I grabbed a few I'd like and put them in my bag before Clem and I decided to look around some more. We decided to look in the back room to see if we could get anything and I go to the side and see a cage like structure and I go in and look around. Most of it was old clothes or cereal and other expired items. I look around some more and Clem comes in and I look to the side a bit as she opened a few of the boxes herself. When we didn't find anything, we were about to leave until the boys rushed in and ran past Clementine making her step back a bit into me and I grabbed her in a reflex so she didn't fall.
"Shit, you good?" I asked and she nods.
"Hey you two, don't run around back here." Clem says as she moved from me to look at them as they stopped to look to us.
"Sorry Clem." AJ says and I nod a bit at this. We exit out the cage and head further in the back and then there was a small crash and we look to see Louis as he backs away from the boxes and we kept silent but didn't hear any Walkers in the area. I sighed a bit and go help move the boxes and stacked them in a pile.
"So how was your time in the greenhouse?" He asked as he grabbed a box and I look to him.
"Pardon?" I asked as I look to him.
"You and Clem, in the greenhouse… did you two talk?" He asked.
"Well, we talked about the greenhouse and stuff why?" I asked and he kept silent and I look to him a bit as he looked away.
"Louis please don't tell me you were the one to lock us in there." I tell him. He stayed silent and I groan a bit.
"What? You two looked like you needed to talk or something." He says.
"Talk about what?" I asked him as I crossed my arms.
"I… look you were sad-."
"Louis, what Clem and I do is none of your business." I whisper to him so the others didn't hear.
"Well, you two are acting like it's a bad thing-."
"We are respecting each other's choices, she doesn't like relationships, I should have never started it, and I don't want her to think that I'm trying to get back with her, now please don't do anything." I tell him.
"Come on you know I'm right though." He says.
"No, you aren't, just drop it, besides I have my reasons to not get back with her." I tell him.
"I'm not like that anymore." He says.
"Dude, you punched me in the face, you got mad, I'm not dealing with this right now, just… please stop this, don't try anything." I tell him.
"But-."
"Louis please just… we don't want to get back together and it's fine, we are ok with what we are doing." I had to basically beg for him to just stop and he looked to me and nods. I take a breath and nod as I go back over to Clem and the boys and we decide it's time to head back to the school. Once there Clem had grabbed her bag and I watch her as she puts her stuff in there and I look to her a bit.
"So, you're heading out now?" I asked.
"Yeah, it's been a week so I think I should head out." She says and I nod.
"Do you know when you'll be back?" I asked.
"Maybe in a few months, not really sure." She says and I nod a little.
"I'll be sure to come back." She says and I nod.
"I mean… is AJ going with you this time? Cause I mean… he uh… he's gotten really use to being here." I say and rubbed my neck a bit.
"I asked he said he wants to stay here which is fine." She says and I nod.
"Um, well would you uh… well." I tried to say something but I couldn't say anything. She looked to me as she finished packing her bag and I look to the side a bit.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine just… thought you'd stay a little longer." I admitted and she takes a seat next to me.
"I mean I did say I was staying a few days." She says and I nod.
"I know, just… It gets kinda boring without you here." I tell her.
"Well… how about I leave tomorrow night?" She asked and I nod at this.
"I mean if you want." I say and she nods.
"Sure, wouldn't want you to be bored." She joked and I chuckled a bit.
"Is it bad that I feel bad asking you to stay? Even if it's just one day?" I asked her.
"Hmm, no you asked, you aren't demanding so it's fine." She says and I nod a bit at this. The rest of the day was going good and I rubbed the back of my neck as I watched AJ and Clementine drawing a bit and I look to the side a bit and see the graves a bit and then I looked away. I go and help Ruby with anything she needed help with and by the time night had come we all eat dinner and I decided to head to the watch tower to start my shift for the night. I hear as the others have fun playing some card game Louis had started and I look over as I strum my guitar a bit as I look to the others.
"Alright High cards ask the low cards a question, same rules as last time." He announced and I just listen in.
"You want to join Vi?" I hear Louis ask and I look over to them a bit and look to Clem as she looked to me. I nod as I set the guitar to the side and I get up and head over to the table and he sets the cards out for all of us and even Tenn, AJ, and Willy joined us.
"Alright like I said, high cards ask low cards questions, or whatever really since we know each other." He says and I nod as we flipped cards. For a while I didn't get the high or low cards which I was honestly happy about that is until I get a one and Louis gets the king. I look to him as he looked to me and I raise my brow at him waiting for him to ask a question or whatever in his case.
"So, Vi…. Top or bottom?" He asked and I look to him a little confused and then I turned red when he smirks and I shake my head.
"Dude really?" I asked.
"Top or Bottom?" AJ asked and I look to him.
"Bunk beds, yes bunkbeds, I like them a lot, both." I say and Louis smirks at me and I kicked him under the table and he grabbed his leg in pain and he looked to me and I glare at him and he laughed a bit.
"Top bunks are cool." Clem says and I look to her and she looked a little confused.
"What? I mean high up from the ground for one thing, could put those fake stars up on the ceiling and look at those, always wanted a bunk bed as a kid." She says and I shake my head a bit at this and the game continued. When the game finished everyone decided to head to the watch tower again and take watch. I kept some space to the side open and I feel someone next to me and I look to see Clementine and I look back to the woods.
"Uh so I really hate to ask this but… do you actually know what Louis meant by top or bottom…. Right?" I asked.
"The bunk bed fiasco?" She asked and I turned red and chuckled a bit.
"Um… he didn't mean… bunkbeds." I tell her.
"Oh, I know, was better to act like that with AJ right there so he didn't try and ask any questions… but I wasn't wrong either." She says and I look to her a bit as she lays her head on my shoulder and I look back to the woods.
"Hey uh… would you like to go to the belltower after this watch?" I asked her.
"Sure, been a while since we been there." She says and I nod at this. When Mitch came to take our spot, I then take Clem over to the bell tower and we go up it and just lay back on the top and look at the stars a bit. I feel her grab my hand gently and I grab her hand back and I feel her shift a bit and she lays her head on my chest and I feel her move her hand on top of my other hand which was on my stomach. I keep looking up to the stars and I just feel her relax a bit. I moved my other hand to her back and rubbed it gently. She felt like she was relaxing more and I kissed her head gently. Nothing wrong with that at all. Right?
"So about what happened last week." She says quietly and I nod a bit.
"Yeah?" I asked quietly.
"I… thanks for uh… not letting me kiss you." She says quietly and I move a bit as she moved to look at me.
"And I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." She says and I shake my head.
"Nah you didn't make me feel uncomfortable, I just didn't want you to feel bad." I tell her.
"Still." She says and I sit up more.
"It was kind of my fault for asking if you wanted to get high." I tell her.
"Not your fault I was ok with it… it was relaxing." She says and I nod and lay back down.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" I asked.
"Well… I have a clear head and all…" She stopped and looked to her a bit.
"Hey we don't have to talk about it, we can just drop it if you want." I tell her. She stays quiet and look at her more and she looked to the stars as well and I look to her a bit more.
"Still, I am sorry." She says.
"Nothing to be sorry about don't feel bad about having feelings still, like I said I still have feelings but I respect the fact you don't want to get back together." I tell her honestly.
"I don't… I don't know, I just… it's so confusing." She says and I nod a little and I moved so we could be sitting up completely and I look at her as she looked to the side a bit. She wouldn't look me in the eyes and I clear my throat a bit.
"Clem, things like this is confusing, I get it, trust me I was confused for a while but I want you to know you shouldn't feel bad." I tell her but she still doesn't look at me.
"Alright, how to cheer Clem up… hmm." I say and she finally looks to me and I smirk a bit.
"Well, I could make a joke but that's lame." I say and I hear her giggle a bit.
"I could give her gifts but what would be a great gift for her?" I asked and she shakes her head and then gets up and I watch her and I go over to the tower where the bell once was and I think.
"Well, it's hard to get a gift to a great girl like Clem, hmmm, well what can I do?" I asked and look to her as she comes over to me and I look down to her.
"I don't need gifts." She says and I shrugged.
"I don't know, I think you deserve a gift." I tell her and she smiles a little.
"Hmmm nope." She says and I chuckled a bit. We decided to take a seat against the bell tower and I think for a bit and she kissed my cheek gently and I look to her.
"Not… not romantic." She mutters and I nod at this and hold her hand gently and she holds my hand back. We just stayed up here and I started to get a little tired but I didn't want this to end at all. It was nice, this was nice, it wasn't romantic we weren't being romantic and still respecting our choices of not getting back together. I take a breath and feel the nice warm breeze and it was just a nice moment. I then moved our clasped hand to my lap and grabbed her hand with my other hand so both of my hands were holding her one hand. I rub my thumb against the back of her hand gently.
"I'll try and come back in two months, maybe three." She says and I look to her a bit.
"Just to give you a time frame of how long I'll be gone." She tells me and I nod.
"That's fine, take all the time you need." I tell her.
"You aren't mad?" She asked.
"No not at all, I already explained to you that I understand." I tell her and she takes a breath and I look to the stars a bit.
"Clem I can't get mad at you for leaving, if that's what you want, I won't stop you, I'll be honest I kind of like the fact that you are still willing to come back here… and I know it's more for AJ but you want him safe, and he has a home here, he likes it here too… but I get it, things can be a little overwhelming." I tell her.
"I just… feel like shit." She says and I look to her.
"Want to tell me why?" I asked and she shakes her head a bit and I nod but we still sit here relaxing.
"Well, I think it's time for bed." I yawned and she nods. We both get up and head to my room and before we go to bed, I feel her grab my hand and I look to her. She looks a little nervous and I just look to her a bit not saying a word to her. I didn't want to force her into anything, I didn't want to make her feel like she had to do anything and she looks to me a bit.
"Maybe… Maybe one day we can try again…. I don't know." She says quietly and I look to her and smile a bit.
"If that is what you want, but please don't force yourself." I tell her and she nods.
"Is… is it ok if I lay with you tonight?" She asked and I nod and we get ready for bed. I think a bit and grabbed a blanket and place it under the mattress in the top bunk and it basically made a curtain and she looked to me a bit and I shrugged a bit as we lay in the bed and I look to her a bit.
"You know I could get those fake stars and put them up on the bottom of the top bunk." I tell her and she smiles.
"I thought you would have done that already." She says and I chuckled. I then lay on my back and I feel her move a bit to place her head on my chest again and I place my hand on the back of her head and rubbed it gently. It must have worked because she fell asleep and I closed my eyes and slowly still rubbed the back of her head until I finally fell asleep myself.
