Walking through the forest Grace was still carrying Lincoln as they journeyed through the forest.
"You can let me go I think I can walk just fine now." Lincoln said feeling a bit awkward about being carried by a girl that he just met only a few moments prior.
"If I may remind you, you're back got slashed by a bear you are in no condition to be walking right now." Grace reminded Lincoln as she continued to carry him a small smirk on her face.
Lincoln rolled his eyes at Grace annoyed. "You're enjoying this aren't you."
"Yes, yes I am." Grace replied with a sly smirk appeared on her face.
As they continued walking through the forest Grace looked down at Lincoln and decided to ask him a small question. "You know I'm curious, how did you end up here? I mean it's not normal for a kid as cute as yourself to be all alone in the woods?" Grace asked curious about why Lincoln was alone in the woods.
Lincoln looked up at Grace questioning if he should tell her, she seemed friendly but he didn't want to reveal too much. "It's complicated." Lincoln said trying to change the topic.
"Oh come on you can tell me, besides you have no one else to talk to." Grace told Lincoln really wanting to know why he was alone in the woods.
"Okay, if you must know I ran away from home." Lincoln told Grace who looked at him surprised.
"You ran away?" Grace asked still trying to process what he said. "What happened did your family do anything that made you run away?" Grace asked Lincoln, she didn't know anything about his family but she wondered if he ran away from home for a reason similar to her own.
"No, no my family didn't do anything, they love me and I love them, something else sort of forced me to run away." Lincoln said looking away hating not being able to go back to Royal Woods with Joyce wanting to arrest him.
Grace was about to ask why he ran away then but decides to change the topic to something else. "So could you tell me a bit about your family, do you have any siblings?"
"Yeah I have 10 sisters." Lincoln told Grace who looked at him with a stunned expression.
"T-ten sisters?" Grace said surprised someone could have that many siblings, "and I thought it was hard having one brother and one sister, I couldn't imagine having ten siblings."
"Ehh you get used to it."
"I bet all of you get into a lot of fights."
"Yeah we do, but in the end we still love each other, Duck, dodge, push and shove, it's how we show our love." Lincoln told Grace with a small smile on his face thinking about his sisters back home, he hoped they weren't too worried about him.
"You seem like a very lucky kid to have ten sisters who care about you." Grace slightly ruffled Lincoln's hair.
Continuing to walk through the forest Grace still carrying Lincoln the two talked to each other, Lincoln told her about each of his sisters and she was amazed at how talented they all were, it amazed her how one could have a family that was so special. She couldn't help but be in awe as Lincoln told her all about them, and the more Lincoln talked to her the more he began to slowly trust her until he believed he could tell her the reason he ran away.
"There's something I have to tell you." Said Lincoln looking around to make sure no one was listening, he doubted anyone was but he wanted to make sure just in case Joyce was nearby he didn't want her to have any chance of finding him.
"What is it?" Grace asked the twelve year old albino curiously.
"I want to tell you the reason why I ran away." Lincoln said taking a deep breath before explaining everything to Grace.
Grace payed full attention to everything she was hearing, at first she believed he was joking but she soon realized he wasn't everything he was saying was true, and it made her own reason for running away from home look silly in comparison.
"That's awful, why would she want to arrest someone for saving their town?" Grace asked hugging Lincoln sympathetically.
"Because she's petty?" Lincoln replied back to Grace's question. "A bit insane I mean she did talk to a dolphin bobble head she owns, short tempered as well, and she's extremely selfish she had no regards for anyone living in Royal Woods, she was going to force all of us to potentially leave our home town just so she could create a sixth great lake."
"Wow she does seem pretty nasty." Grace commented.
"Tell me about it." Lincoln replied it was clear he didn't like Joyce, there were few people he genuinely disliked, but Joyce was definitely one of them.
After hearing everything Lincoln had said about why he was forced to run away from home, she couldn't but look down feeling extremely stupid for her own reason for running away, she felt petty a small argument made her run away, she felt so selfish.
"Is everything alright?" Lincoln asked looking up at Grace concerned.
"No, no everything is fine no need to worry." Grace said with a smile that was clearly fake, her guilt for running away was roaring through her thoughts.
"Please you can tell me, I told you why I ran away so you can tell me." Lincoln said with a warm smile.
Grace hesitantly sighed before deciding to tell Lincoln everything. "Fine if you must know, I got into an argument with my father, and in the fight he told me I would never be allowed to leave home ever again, I know he probably didn't mean it, but I ... I-I overreacted and ran away." Grace said a few tears falling down her face. "You must think I'm selfish."
"I don't think you're selfish." Lincoln told Grace who looked down at him and smiled hugging him tightly. "Thank you Lincoln thank you, I really needed to hear that."
"You're welcome." Lincoln smiled a grin back at Grace.
"And I must say you are such a little gentleman." Grace said playfully as she ruffled Lincoln's hair.
The pair continued through the forest and as the hours passed they decided to make camp, laying down under the stars. Grace looked up at the stars in amazement.
"My mother once told me that every star is the spirit of someone who did something great in their life." Grace told Lincoln what her mother once told her as she looked up at the night sky. "I never believed in that sort of things, ghosts and spirits all of it sounds to mythical to be real."
"I don't know, you'd be surprised about what is actually real." Lincoln said thinking back to meeting the ghost of his ancestors in Loch Loud.
"You can't honestly tell me you believe in that." Grace stopped when she heard a rip she looked and groaned as her dress got stuck between a branch and got a tear in it. Grace managed to pull the branch out from her dress but in the process accidentally created an even bigger tear.
Lincoln couldn't help but snicker.
"You think this is funny do you?" Grace asked a bit annoyed. "Well how about I do this." Grace said as she playfully pushed Lincoln into a small lake in the middle of the forest right below where they set up camp.
"Alright alright, I'm sorry." Lincoln apologized as he walked back to Grace soaking wet.
The two laughed as Grace helped Lincoln dry off, even though Lincoln had just met Grace he was glad she was here, he didn't know what he'd do if he was in the forest all alone with no one but himself.
Somewhere else in the forest Joyce along with Norman and his group of police officers were still looking for Lincoln.
"Don't worry Donna, soon that white haired boy will get exactly what he deserves." Joyce said talking to a dolphin bobblehead. "Yes soon I'll get my revenge for that brat ruining my life."
"Umm Norman I don't mean to question you, but are you sure we should be helping her. I mean she's talking to a bobblehead." One of the officers asked gulping as Norman stared them down.
In a split second Norman grabbed the officer by his neck and lifted him off of the ground. "You do not question me! I expect complete obedience, and I do not tolerate anyone questioning me!" Norman yelled with anger as he tossed the officer down to the ground. "Now get out of my sight!"
The rest of the officers gulped in fear, Joyce was also terrified as Norman looked at all of them.
"Anyone else here to question me? Anyone?" Norman looked around and no one spoke up. "Good now we have a job find that albino boy and arrest him, and do whatever it takes."
Joyce looked over at Norman. "Glad you told them to remember who's in charge."
Suddenly Joyce felt a jolt of fear rush through her body as Norman squeezed her arm. "You may be the one paying us, but don't forget who is really in charge here, I could effortlessly kill you, you've already paid us, so unless you have a death wish. I say you remember your place or me and my inferiors might decide to quit this little job." Norman let go of Joyce arm and walked over to the other officers.
Walking boots stomping through the forest, the atmosphere was intense as Norman was behind the other officers making sure none of them would stop for even a second. Joyce was walking next to Norman, she didn't trust him at all, but right now she only cared about getting revenge on Lincoln Loud she just hoped that Norman wouldn't betray her before she could get her revenge.
Still there was one thing about Norman that piqued her interest, his strength it was above that of a normal human, it was even above the strength of the best athletes in the world. "If I may ask you, how did you get so strong?" Joyce asked shaking a bit as she asked the question.
Norman glared down at Joyce before looking back up. "My power is none of your interest, just know I obtained it through means that are not natural, and some may consider dark."
That was the only response Joyce got and she wasn't going to ask anymore and risk getting killed.
Norman looked up at the stars in the sky and began to shake violently before suddenly going back to normal. Joyce looked at him weirded out, but the other officers didn't look the bit phased. Joyce sensed this was normal for them.
"We set up camp now." Norman ordered.
"But we still haven't found-" Joyce spoke up only for Norman to grab her by her neck and begin to suffocate her, Joyce was close to death when Norman began to shake violently again.
"Yes I understand, I will do as you command." Norman said talking to himself as he let Joyce go who was breathing heavily. "Now all of you back to setting up camp, I need to be alone." Norman said leaving the group.
"Does anyone know what that was about?" Joyce asked one of the other officers.
"No idea." One of the officers said to Joyce. "Norman used to be pretty normal more athletic than most but nothing like this, but one day he came back with all of this power. Some of us believe that whatever or whoever gave Norman his strength is supernatural."
Joyce just nodded questions rushing through her head but she decided to push them to the back of her mind.
The campfire was burning bright as Grace and Lincoln sat on top of a log, Grace looking in disgust as she grabbed a small worm that was crawling on her dress and tossed it. Lincoln on the other hand looked more comfortable in the woods compared to Grace, he had gone camping with his family a few times. He remembered all of those memories most of them were happy memories, a few unhappy, but in the end he was glad to have those memories. He couldn't wait to be able to see his family again.
"You really miss your family don't you?" Grace asked.
"I do, I really miss them." Lincoln told Grace.
"Don't you worry you're little head I promise soon that mean woman chasing after you will give up and you will be able to return to your family, and I bet all of you will look back at this all and laugh." Grace said in an attempt to cheer Lincoln up.
"Thanks Grace." Lincoln smiled, "and also thanks for believing me when I told you about this, and also thanks for not trying to turn me in."
"No need to thank me I was just doing the right thing." Grace smiled down at Lincoln as she ruffled his white hair, Lincoln looked up at Grace and gave her a side-hug around her waist as his hair was being ruffled.
Grace looked down at Lincoln and smiled giving him a side-hug as well.
"Come on let's get some sleep." Grace said as she let out a small yawn.
The next morning Lincoln woke up yawning he saw that Grace was still asleep, this felt sort of strange to him usually his sisters were awake before him, it felt different being the only one awake, and it especially felt strange sleeping outside with someone who had just met. Walking alone for a bit, but still close to the campfire Lincoln looked and wondered how everyone was doing back home in Royal Woods his friends and family, he also wondered if Lori had told Bobby, he knew if Lori did that Ronnie Anne would also have been told. He could only imagine how she would react to all of this.
Walking back to camp Lincoln heard someone talking to themselves, he at first assumed it was Grace, but the voice sounded different he looked and saw a police officer by themselves. Lincoln hid behind a tree holding his breath as the officer ranted to themselves.
"Stupid Norman." The officer complained as he kicked a pebble, "kick me out will he, we'll I'll show him, I'll show all of them. I'll find that stupid albino and then I'll use him as bait to revenge on Norman, that what he gets for making me work for a sad pathetic woman with a grudge against a middle schooler."
Lincoln was still holding his breath, as the officer glanced over at the tree he was hiding behind. seconds felt like hours before the officer stopped looking and walked away.
This was bad really bad, sure it was one officer but this only meant that Joyce and the others were close to the forest, he had to get out of here fast, he needed to go back and wake Grace up, hopefully she knew somewhere he could hide.
Running back to the spot in the forest he and Grace had set up camp, Lincoln accidentally tripped over a tree root sticking out from the ground. He fell down with a thud before getting back up.
"I got you now!" The lone officer said chasing after Lincoln pulling out his pistol as he fired it at Lincoln, he didn't care if the kid was dead or alive he just needed him as bait to get revenge.
The bullet barely missed Lincoln who had his heart beating faster than it ever had before.
"Come on kid stop running." The officer said firing another bullet that hit a tree as it barely went over Lincoln's head, "Give up we both know you can't dodge bullets."
Lincoln kept running and running until he was back at where he and Grace had set up camp.
"Morning Lincoln I was about to-" Grace said only to hear a bullet fire by and hit a tree. "What what that!?"
"Grace I have to get out of here now!" Lincoln yelled urgently.
"Alright follow me." Grace said urgently starting to run with Lincoln following after her.
"Why won't you let me shoot you!" The lone officer said annoyed firing another bullet again that once again missed its target, "Why do I keep missing!?" He yelled in anger. "Wait there's a girl with you? This is great I can have two hostages now, plus the girl looks rich. I'm sure her family will pay a pretty penny for her!" The lone officer yelled out. "Are you even listening!?"
Sprinting through the forest, Lincoln was following Grace as the lone officer who had ran out of bullets was now chasing after them, he was getting closer and closer every second. In an attempt to lose him they zigzagged through the forest, which did get him off of their track.
However as they got the officer off of their tracks, they didn't notice Joyce and the other officers had spotted them. Joyce had a sly grin on her face, this was her chance. Norman looked over at his officers and gave them an order as they moved through the forest.
"We're almost there." Grace said panting heavily, Lincoln was doing the same, they were almost out of the forest they could see the end of the forest. "Once were out, I know a safe place where you can stay until Joyce gives up trying to find you."
Suddenly the two stopped as they saw someone walking towards them, Grace didn't recognize them but she could tell whoever it was, it wasn't good judging by Lincoln's expression.
"I got my him now, see Dorris I told you I'd catch him." Joyce said talking to the dolphin bobblehead.
Lincoln tried to run but was cut off by two officers blocking his escape route.
"Oh you aren't going to go anywhere, you are going to rot in a cell for the rest of your life." Joyce told Lincoln.
"There is no way any judge will take you're accusations serious the minute you bring up the so called crime you said he committed, they'll immediately dismiss it." Grace told Joyce in anger.
"Silence girl!" One of the officers said kicking Grace down in annoyance.
"Show this girl more respect." Norman looked at the other officers before looking down at Grace. "She has more power then any of you, she is a princess after all."
Lincoln looked at Grace stunned it couldn't be true could it? Grace was a princess that couldn't be true right? But the more he thought about it the more it made sense to him.
"Y-you're a princess?" Lincoln asked.
"Yes I'm a princess, I didn't tell you because well ... it's a very awkward way to start a conversation." Grace told Lincoln. "Plus people usually treat me differently once they know I'm royalty."
"I'm shocked, you're so surprised." Norman told Lincoln in a mocking voice that sounded almost disappointed. "After all you are a duke, well a former one at least. I thought you'd be able to recognize royalty."
"How did you know that!?" Lincoln demanded to know, only himself, his family, and everyone in Loch Loud knew he was a duke.
"Information, after all information is power and if you look deep enough you can find a lot of information about people, especially when they've been something as important as a duke." Norman stated looking down at Lincoln who was being held down by two officers on his knees.
"So what like Grace said doesn't matter if you do turn me in no judge will take any case you bring forward seriously." Lincoln stated trying to be firm.
"Perhaps, but that's why I don't plan on taking you to a judge." Norman said looking down at Lincoln. This statement surprised everyone Lincoln, Joyce, Grace, and even Norman fellow officers.
"But we had a deal! You said you'd arrest him!" Joyce yelled in anger accusing Norman of breaking their deal.
"Our only deal was that we would arrest him, nothing in our deal said anything about giving him a trial or anything. Besides I had my own reasons to agreeing to do this when every other police station refused to." Norman looked over at Joyce before looking down at Lincoln getting down on his knee to look at him at eye level. "Look kid I have nothing against you, now don't struggle and don't' make this harder than it has to be."
A couple of the officers looked at each other muttering, they didn't sign up for this. They could lose their jobs if Norman actually goes through with putting a kid in prison without a trial.
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" One of the officers holding Lincoln down. "I mean not giving someone a trial, is extremely illegal."
"I have my reasons." Norman stated glaring at the officer. "You only have one job obey my orders, it's very simple. You obey me first and the law second." Norman then looked over at Grace. "Now as for you princess, leave and if you tell a word to anyone about this, I'll make you suffer in ways you couldn't imagine."
Grace gulped as she heard the threat she hoped he was bluffing but she didn't want to find out if he was, but she also didn't want to abandon Lincoln. She ran far enough to where it looked like she was gone, but just close enough to where she could still see Lincoln. She hoped he could find a way out.
"Sir I respect you and all but this is wrong, it's against the law and as an officer I am not going to disobey the law, I was fine with trying to arrest this kid since he did technically break a law, but I all of us could lose our jobs if we put a kid in a cell without a trial." The second officer who had Lincoln held down stated.
"Are you disobeying me!?" Norman roared in anger as the officers let Lincoln go.
"Get him!" Joyce said. "I still want him to face trial, I'm sure a judge will take my case seriously!" Joyce said to the officers.
"No, none of you will get him! He is my prisoner!" Norman stated in anger as he charged towards Lincoln.
Suddenly Norman was caught off guard when he saw the officer he had kicked out earlier for disobeying him.
"I got you now Norman! Now I'll get my-" The former officer speech was cut short as Norman charged towards him and snapped his neck with a swift and powerful chop.
"I said stay out of my sight." Norman stared down at dead body in anger, he then turned his attention to the albino who was escaping in the chaos. Norman leaped landing in front of Lincoln causing Lincoln to fall down as he ran into him. Norman barely flinched and picked Lincoln up. "Now you have nowhere to run, you are going to-"
Norman suddenly began to shake violently letting go of Lincoln. "Not now! Why does this have to happen! Yes I see, I'll do as you command. I will not fail you." Norman voice sounded more calm as he seemed to be talking to himself.
Lincoln was bewildered at what was going on, but he also knew he couldn't wait to get an answer he had to run and get away. Joyce and the other officers tried to chase after him they still wanted to arrest him, and give him a trial, and he had a feeling Joyce would attempt to bribe the judge if they caught him. Lincoln barely evaded the officers panting heavily as he escaped the forest.
He hid in a large bush until the officers stopped looking over by his direction.
"He must have gotten away." One of the officers stated.
"Alright let's split up into two groups, Group A will be with Joyce and try to find the kid, meanwhile Group B will subdue Norman. He clearly has mental health issues." The officer said as everyone went to their groups.
The first Group soon vanished into the distance, while the second group headed back into the forest. Seeing they were gone Lincoln got out from the bush and Grace rushed to meet him.
"Lincoln I am so glad you're okay." Grace said relieved rushing towards him as she saw him getting out from a large bush
"Yes I'm fine, now all I have to deal with is Joyce and her officers, and some insane super strong guy who wants to make me his prisoner for some reason, but besides that I'm perfectly fine." Lincoln said chuckling nervously.
The two continued to walk for a while when Lincoln finally asked Grace. "Where are we going?"
"Well I was planning on taking you to a bus station, but I thought about it and decided why not take you to my family's vacation home, for a while." Grace suggested.
"You mean it?" Lincoln asked.
"I mean sure, I mean it's not like you have anywhere else to go, and besides I am positive my family will understand." Grace told Lincoln. "Now come on follow me, we don't want you to get caught now do we?"
Lincoln quickly followed Grace as they set off to Grace's family vacation home.
