Angelica sat nervously in her father's study, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. The room was dimly lit, filled with the scent of old books and polished wood. The Duke of Redgrave, her father, sat across from her behind a large oak desk, his expression stern but thoughtful.

"Father," Angelica began hesitantly, "I need to talk to you about my engagement to Prince Julius."

The Duke raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued. "Go on."

Angelica took a deep breath. "I want to have the engagement canceled. It's clear that Julius... Prince Julius no longer respects or values me. His actions, his words—they show a complete disregard for our engagement and for me as a person."

The Duke leaned back in his chair, folding his hands thoughtfully. "This is a serious matter, Angelica. Breaking an engagement with the crown prince is not something to be taken lightly."

"I understand, Father," she said, her voice steady. "But I can't continue to be humiliated and disrespected like this. It's not just about me; it's about our family and our honor."

The Duke studied his daughter for a long moment before nodding. "Very well, Angelica. I will work to cancel the engagement. However, there is another matter we need to address."

Angelica's heart skipped a beat. "What is it, Father?"

"The duel," the Duke said, his tone firm. "While your champion won, your behavior was rash and unbefitting of a noble lady. There must be consequences for such actions."

Angelica's shoulders slumped slightly. "I understand. What must I do?"

"You are to stay at the estate for the next few days," the Duke instructed. "During this time, I will work to clean up the mess and ensure that the engagement is annulled without causing further scandal."

Angelica nodded, accepting her father's decision. "Thank you, Father. I appreciate your understanding and support."

The Duke's expression softened slightly. "I know you are strong, Angelica, and I trust you will use this time to reflect and prepare for what comes next. Remember, our family's honor is paramount."

"I will, Father," Angelica said, rising to her feet. "Thank you."

As she left the study, Angelica felt a mix of relief and apprehension. The decision to end her engagement with Prince Julius was a significant step, but she knew it was the right one. She would face the consequences of her actions and emerge stronger, ready to rebuild her future.

Back at the academy, rumors began to circulate about Angelica's sudden absence. Luxion, ever vigilant, noted the development and reported it to Leon.

"Master Leon," Luxion said, his voice tinged with urgency, "Angelica has gone to her family estate. She is seeking to annul her engagement with Prince Julius."

Leon's eyes widened in surprise. "She's really doing it? Good for her."

"However," Luxion continued, "she is also facing censure for her actions during the duel. She will be confined to the estate for a few days while the Duke handles the situation."

Leon frowned, feeling a mixture of concern and respect for Angelica. "She's brave to take such a step. We need to support her, Luxion. See if there is anyway we can bump up the meeting with the duke and collect the winnings so we can be prepared."

"Of course, Master Leon," Luxion replied. "I will continue to monitor the situation closely."

As Leon went about his day, he couldn't help but admire Angelica's strength and resolve. The path ahead was uncertain, but he knew one thing for sure: they would face whatever came next together, supporting each other through every challenge.

Luxion's circuits buzzed with a silent determination. As he cloaked himself in the shadows of Leon's room, he began drafting letters, carefully manipulating the words to influence both the Duke of Redgrave and the palace. His goal was clear: ensure the cancellation of Angelica's engagement to Prince Julius and pave the way for Leon's rising influence.

Luxion's behind the scenes machinations

The first letter was directed to the Duke of Redgrave. Luxion carefully crafted the message, blending factual observations with subtle suggestions. The letter emphasized the deteriorating respect and value Prince Julius had shown towards Angelica, suggesting that the engagement was more harmful to the Redgrave name than beneficial. Luxion also hinted at the potential political and social fallout if the engagement continued, emphasizing the long-term benefits of severing ties now.

The second letter was sent to the palace, aimed at influential courtiers and advisors who had the ear of the royal family. Luxion highlighted the growing public discontent with Prince Julius's behavior, framing the narrative that it was in the kingdom's best interest to distance itself from any controversy. The letter subtly suggested that canceling the engagement would not only protect the prince's reputation but also restore faith in the monarchy's judgment.

Luxion sent both letters anonymously, ensuring they were delivered by trusted messengers who would not betray their source. He monitored the responses closely, adjusting his plans as needed.

/

A few days later, the Duke of Redgrave received Luxion's letter. He read it carefully, his expression growing more severe with each passing line. The arguments were compelling, and the evidence of Prince Julius's behavior was undeniable. The Duke had already been considering the engagement's cancellation, but this letter pushed him firmly in that direction. He decided to act quickly, both to protect his daughter and to maintain his family's honor.

Meanwhile, at the palace, the courtiers who received Luxion's letter began whispering among themselves. The suggestion to cancel the engagement took root, spreading through the ranks until it reached the ears of the king's advisors. The pressure mounted, and soon the palace was in agreement: the engagement had to be canceled for the good of the kingdom.

Unaware of Luxion's manipulations, Leon prepared himself for a meeting with the Duke. He knew this was a crucial moment, one that could determine his future and the future of those he cared about. He gathered all his winnings from recent duel, planning to offer them as tribute to the Redgrave dukedom and the kingdom, hoping to mitigate any hard feelings from reprimanding the prince and his friends.

As Leon approached the Duke's estate, he felt a mixture of nervousness and determination. He was ushered into a grand receiving room, where the Duke awaited him. The room was adorned with tapestries and portraits, a testament to the Redgrave family's long and storied history.

The Duke greeted Leon with a measured nod. "Baron Barfort, welcome. I understand you have matters to discuss."

Leon bowed respectfully. "Your Grace, thank you for seeing me. I wish to offer my winnings as a tribute to the Redgrave dukedom and the kingdom, to show my respect and gratitude. I hope this can help mitigate any hard feelings from recent events and make it so my family doesn't receive any backlash from my decisions."

The Duke raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Leon's offer. "That is a generous gesture, Baron Barfort. But tell me, why did you step up to be Angelica's champion?"

Leon took a deep breath, meeting the Duke's gaze with unwavering honesty. "I could say it was for the kingdom, and because Marie is a snake manipulating the prince, and I wanted him to see the error of his ways. But that wouldn't be the whole truth."

The Duke leaned forward, his interest piqued. "Go on."

Leon began to recount the story of the first time he met Angelica, years ago when he was a boy being fostered for training at the Duke's son Gilbert's estate. He described how he had been running around the castle, doing ambush training, and had thought one of the knights who was in disguise was getting ready to attack her. Without hesitation, he had fought the knight, not realizing at the time that the Duke's daughter was in no actual danger.

"I didn't remember that I made a parting promise to be there if Angelica ever needed me until I saw her alone, challenging Marie," Leon continued. "I didn't even know the little girl's name from years before, but something clicked when I saw her eyes that night."

The Duke's expression softened slightly, his eyebrows raised in surprise. "I see. And who was the head trainer at the estate?"

Leon responded without hesitation. "Sir Leonidas."

The Duke nodded, recalling his memories. "And how did you come to be fostered at my son's estate?"

Leon took another deep breath, deciding to be completely honest. "Sir Leonidas pulled strings to get my brother and me fostered for a year because he is my maternal grandfather."

The Duke's eyes widened in shock. "Your maternal grandfather, you say?"

"Yes, Your Grace," Leon confirmed. "He believed in my potential and wanted to give me the best training and opportunities possible but we were instructed not to let anyone know he was our grandfather at the time so he wouldn't get in trouble for pulling strings to get us the opportunity."

The Duke studied Leon for a long moment before nodding. "Wait in the receiving room, Baron Barfort. I need to discuss this with my son."

Leon waited in the receiving room, his heart pounding. He knew this meeting was crucial, but he had no idea what the Duke would decide. As Leon waited in the receiving room of the Redgrave estate, the weight of his recent actions and the impending meeting with the Duke settled heavily on his shoulders. The room was lavishly decorated, a testament to the power and wealth of the Redgrave family. Rich tapestries adorned the walls, and a large fireplace crackled with warmth. The grandeur of the surroundings only amplified Leon's anxiety.

Suddenly, there was a faint hum, and Luxion uncloaked, appearing before Leon. The AI's presence was both a comfort and a reminder of the complexities they faced.

"Leon," Luxion began in a calm, measured tone, "we need to discuss our strategy. The situation is delicate, and it's crucial that we don't draw unnecessary attention to ourselves."

Leon nodded, his eyes meeting Luxion's. "I know, Luxion. I've been thinking about it too. If the Duke refuses to help, if he sees me as a threat rather than an ally, then..."

"Then we must consider our options for survival," Luxion finished. "Fleeing the country might be our last resort, but it is a viable plan. We must be prepared for any eventuality."

Leon sighed, leaning back in his chair. "I've come this far, and I can't back down now. Angelica deserves better, and so does the kingdom. But if it comes to it, we'll do what we have to."

Luxion's sensors flickered as if in agreement. "Indeed. Survival is paramount. But remember, our primary goal is to stabilize the kingdom and according to your journal war is on the horizon. (and ensure the propagation of old human genes was left unsaid by the AI). Every move we make must align with that objective."

Leon clenched his fists, determination hardening his features. "I understand. I'll do what's necessary. But for now, let's hope the Duke sees reason."

/

Duke Redgrave and his son Gilbert met in a private chamber, discussing the revelations Leon had shared. The room was filled with heavy tapestries and ancient family crests, the air thick with the weight of their lineage. They both knew that the decisions made in this room could shape the future of their house and possibly the kingdom.

"Father, Leon is clearly dedicated and honorable," Gilbert said, pacing slightly as he spoke. "He has strong ties to our family through the now retired Sir Leonidas. We need to ensure his loyalty and bring him into our faction."

The Duke nodded thoughtfully, his fingers steepled in contemplation. "Agreed. Leon has proven his worth and integrity. Moreover, his connection to Sir Leonidas is a significant advantage. We must act quickly. If we can secure a marriage between Leon and Angelica, it will strengthen our position and solidify his loyalty while keeping the crown from taking drastic actions."

Gilbert smiled, a plan forming in his mind. "I'll make the arrangements. We need to ensure that this alliance is beneficial for both parties. A marriage will not only bind him to us but also provide stability and strengthen our influence within the kingdom to have such a young promising knight on our side can mitigate the annulment to the prince to a figure at the moment stronger. It would also make it easier with the crown causing backlash if he is a member of our house."

The Duke leaned back in his chair, satisfied with the direction of their discussion. "Good. We'll need to handle this delicately. Angelica's feelings must be considered, and we must present this as a mutually beneficial arrangement. We don't want to force her into something she'll resent. She needs to understand that she has a duty to the family. Gilbert to be honest this works better to get an heir for the Redgrave dukedom. You can adopt one of Angelicas children considering your preferences."

Gilbert nodded. "Of course, Father. I'll speak with Angelica and explain the situation. I'm sure she'll understand the necessity of this alliance."

/

Angelica was in her chambers, staring out of the window at the sprawling gardens below. Her thoughts were a whirlwind of emotions, from the relief/grief of her engagement to Prince Julius being canceled to the uncertainty of what lay ahead. When Gilbert knocked on her door and entered, she turned to face him, her expression guarded.

"Angelica," Gilbert began gently, "Father and I have been discussing the future. We believe that a new alliance is necessary to protect our family and secure our position. We propose a marriage between you and Baron Barfort."

Angelica's eyes widened in surprise. "Leon? The same Leon who defended me in the duel?"

Gilbert nodded. "Yes, the very same. He's proven himself honorable and loyal. His connection to Sir Leonidas and his own merits make him an excellent match. This marriage will strengthen our family and provide the stability we need after this duel, it will give the crown the appearance that we are censuring you and it will allow us to bring a strong ally to our faction and one of your children will be adopted to be my heir. The family will expect you to produce an heir as soon as possible. I know its a lot to put on your shoulders but it would have been expected of you with the prince so nothing changes in that regard."

Angelica took a deep breath, processing the information. "I trust you and Father, Gilbert. If you believe this is the best course of action, then I will agree to it. Leon has shown his bravery and dedication, and I believe we can make this work."

Gilbert smiled, relieved by her acceptance. "Thank you, Angelica. Your understanding and willingness to support our family are greatly appreciated. We'll make the arrangements for the ceremony immediately."

/

Leon was summoned back into the room where the Duke and Gilbert awaited him. He entered, bowing respectfully, sensing the gravity of the moment.

"Baron Barfort," the Duke began, his tone formal yet kind, "your honesty and dedication have impressed us. We believe it is in the best interest of our family and the kingdom to secure your loyalty and there is a way to accomplish both."

Leon felt a surge of hope. "What do you propose, Your Grace?"

The Duke smiled slightly. "We propose a marriage between you and my daughter, Angelica. This will not only solidify our stance with the crown by giving the impression of censuring Angelica but also provide stability and strength to our house and make protecting your house a bit simpler by having you move from independent to a vasal of the Redgrave house with a strong tie."

Leon was stunned. He had admired Angelica from afar, but the idea of marrying her had never crossed his mind he had been somewhat focused on Olivia. He glanced at Gilbert, who gave him an encouraging nod.

"It would be an honor, Your Grace," Leon said, bowing deeply seeing no way to decline and keep support of the Duke.

"Excellent," the Duke replied. "The ceremony will take place immediately. We must act swiftly to ensure this alliance is secured and give the crown no room to come after you or demand something else of Angelica."

The preparations for the wedding were hurried, but the Redgrave family spared no expense. The estate was abuzz with activity as servants decorated the grand hall with flowers and banners bearing the family crest. The air was filled with the scent of fresh blooms and the murmur of excitement and anticipation.

Angelica was adorned in a beautiful gown, a delicate creation of silk and lace that shimmered in the soft candlelight. Her nervous excitement was palpable as she looked at herself in the mirror, her mind racing with thoughts of the future. Her heart fluttered with a mix of anxiety and hope.

Leon, dressed in a tailored suit that bore the Redgrave family colors, stood in a separate chamber, his determination mirrored in his eyes. He had faced countless challenges, but this felt different. This was the beginning of a new chapter, one that required not just bravery but also commitment and compassion.

/

The grand hall of the Redgrave estate was a magnificent sight. The high ceilings and intricate chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the gathered guests. Close family members and trusted allies filled the few seats, their expressions a mix of curiosity and approval. The entire room was abuzz with anticipation, knowing that this union represented not just the joining of two individuals but the consolidation of power and influence within the kingdom.

The Duke himself presided over the vows, standing tall and regal before the assembled guests. His presence commanded respect, and his voice, carrying the weight of tradition and authority, filled the hall as he began the ceremony.

"We are gathered here today to witness the union of Baron Leon Fou Barfort and Lady Angelica Rapha Redgrave," the Duke began, his tone solemn and dignified. "This union represents not only the joining of two individuals but also the strengthening of our house by blood and our commitment to fortify the kingdom."

Leon and Angelica stood before him, their hands clasped together. As they exchanged rings, a sense of purpose and duty settled over them. This moment was about more than their personal feelings; it was about the future of their families and the kingdom they served.

After the ceremony, Leon and Angelica were given a moment alone in a quiet alcove of the grand hall. The sound of laughter and conversation drifted from the small reception, but here, it was just the two of them.

Angelica looked up at Leon, her eyes filled with a mixture of relief and hope. "Leon, this is all so new and sudden, but I believe we can make this work. I've seen your bravery and your dedication. I will place my trust in you."

Leon took her hands in his, his gaze steady and sincere. "Angelica, I promise to stand by you and support you. Together, we can face whatever challenges come our way."

Angelica smiled, feeling a sense of reassurance. "Thank you, Leon. I feel stronger knowing you're with me."

Leon kissed her forehead gently. "And I, you. We will build a future together, one step at a time. But I need to speak to you about my attachment to Olivia, I have some feelings for her I'm not sure what they are but I wont disrespect you."

Angelica having grown up in nobility understood that second wives and concubines are something that happen so she nodded and said "You should speak to my father about Olivia. I will stand by your side so he understands I already know."

After the ceremony and initial congratulations, Leon and Angelica found a quiet moment to speak with the Duke. He approached the topic of Olivia with careful consideration, understanding the delicate balance of politics and personal connections.

"Your Grace," Leon began, choosing his words with care, "I would like to discuss another matter that could strengthen our position further. I have been fostering a close friendship with Olivia, the scholarship student. She is a remarkable young woman with a bright mind and a kind heart and her prowess in light magic is unparalleled."

The Duke raised an eyebrow, clearly interested. "Go on, Baron Leon."

"Olivia's presence and support have been invaluable," Leon continued. "Given her character and potential, I believe she could be a great asset to our family. Perhaps as one of Angelica's ladies-in-waiting. Additionally, if it pleases Your Grace and if Olivia consents, she could eventually become my second wife. This would not only solidify our personal alliances but also ensure that Olivia's talents are fully utilized within our household."

The Duke considered this for a moment before nodding. "Very well. Gilbert, summon the girl. I wish to speak with her directly."

Within a few hours, Olivia was brought to the Redgrave estate. She was led to the same grand hall where the ceremony had taken place, her steps hesitant but her gaze resolute. The grandeur of the estate, combined with the weight of the occasion, made her feel both awe and nervousness.

The Duke and Gilbert awaited her arrival, along with Leon and Angelica. The atmosphere was formal, but not unkind. The Duke's presence commanded respect, and Olivia felt the significance of the moment.

"Miss Olivia," the Duke began, his tone measured and authoritative, "Baron Barfort has spoken highly of you. Your character and intelligence are attributes we value greatly. I have a proposition for you."

Olivia glanced at Leon, her heart fluttering at the sight of his steady and reassuring presence. She turned back to the Duke, listening intently.

"We would like to offer you a position as one of Lady Angelica's ladies-in-waiting," the Duke continued. "This role would come with responsibilities and privileges befitting your station. Furthermore, should you hold any romantic feelings for Baron Barfort, you would have the opportunity to become his second wife under this arrangement since my daughter has been wed earlier today to Baron Barfort."

Olivia's eyes widened slightly at the proposal. She looked at Angelica, who smiled warmly, and then at Leon, whose expression was encouraging. Her heart raced as she weighed the enormity of the offer.

"I... I am honored by your offer, Your Grace," Olivia said, her voice steady despite her nerves. "I deeply respect both Lady Angelica and Leon. If it pleases you and with their support, I accept the position and the potential for a future with Leon."

With Olivia's acceptance, the dynamics within the Redgrave household began to shift. Olivia was introduced to the staff and given her duties as a lady-in-waiting. Angelica, appreciative of Olivia's kindness and intelligence, welcomed her with open arms. The two women quickly developed a bond, finding strength and support in each other.

/

Duke Redgrave sat in his grand office, the light of the late afternoon sun streaming through the tall windows. His piercing eyes focused on Baron Leon Fou Barfort, his new son-in-law. The wedding had been arranged hastily, and it was clear that Leon and Angelica needed time to build their relationship.

"Leon," Duke Redgrave began, his voice steady and authoritative, "I have a suggestion for the rest of the academy break. It would be beneficial for both you and Angelica to spend some time together in your territory. The rushed nature of your marriage has left little room for the two of you to truly get to know each other. I also would like you to have your island moved inside of Redgrave boarders."

Leon, a young man with a calm demeanor and determined eyes, nodded in agreement. "I understand, Your Grace. I believe that would be a good idea."

"Take her, along with some staff, including Olivia, to your estate. Use this time wisely to strengthen your and Angelica's bond," the Duke continued with underling meaning.

"I will, Your Grace," Leon replied, his mind already planning the journey and the activities they could do together to make Angelica feel at home completely missing the Dukes meaning.

With a final nod from the Duke, Leon left the office, determined to make the most of this opportunity. Once alone, Duke Redgrave turned his attention to a more pressing matter. He pulled out a sheet of fine parchment and began drafting a formal request for a meeting with the King Roland and Queen Maleen.

A few days later, Duke Redgrave found himself in the opulent throne room, standing before the King and Queen. The air was heavy with anticipation as he presented his case.

"Your Majesties," the Duke began with a respectful bow, "I come before you to discuss the recent events concerning my daughter, Angelica, and her marriage to a Baron. And to give tribute on behalf of Baron Barfort who I have accepted as a vassal of mine after the duel. He has given the kingdom a tribute of 1000 platinum bars to help smooth over any hard feelings and a pledge of his continued loyalty to the kingdom."

The King, a stern yet fair ruler, gestured for him to continue. The Queen, ever observant, watched intently. The fact that the duke has taken the boy on as a vassal and the boy provided tribute in such a vast sum using the Duke as a public intermediary changed the political implications.

"I have arranged this marriage as a form of punishment for Angelica, due to her actions. She will continue to attend the academy, but her interactions with Prince Julius and his friends will be strictly limited."

The King and Queen exchanged glances, considering the Duke's words. After a moment, the King spoke. "We understand your reasoning, Duke Redgrave. Angelica's marriage to a baron, though beneath her station, serves as a suitable consequence for putting the crown prince in danger from a dual even though our son was at fault for the debacle from his disrespectful behavior towards a ducal house, I take it the marriage has already taken place then and it will be publicly announced soon."

Duke Redgrave nodded, grateful for their understanding. "Thank you, Your Majesties. There is another matter I wish to address – the repayment of Angelica's dowry."

The Queen raised an eyebrow. "The dowry?"

"Yes, Your Majesty," Duke Redgrave continued. "The dowry consisted of my dukedom covering the kingdom's financial shortfalls over the past five years. I propose we come to an agreement that would keep my support for the kingdom strong publicly that wont damage my houses or the crowns reputations. Some type of payment plan may suffice but I would like to offer a few conditions."

The King leaned forward, intrigued. "And what are these conditions?"

Queen Maleen spoke up before the duke could.

"I suggest that the five heirs, including Prince Julius, be disinherited from becoming the next heads of their houses. This would secure the Dukes continued support and ensure the stability of the kingdom by showing the crown acknowledges Julius shortcomings in judgment and his part in the duel and the Kingdom in exchange not have to pay the dowry back to the Duke but we make an agreement that a pair of our grandchildren be wedded and those children shall be made more aware of what is expected of them."

The room fell silent as the King and Duke pondered the proposition. The implications were vast and far-reaching. After a tense pause, the Queen spoke. "Duke Redgrave, Vince would this be a suitable recompense? Both houses honor would remain intact and a future alliance will be secured."

Duke Redgrave bowed deeply. "Thank you, Your Majesties. I trust your wisdom in making the best decision for the kingdom. I would sign an agreement to that effect."

The King looked at the Queen, who nodded slightly. He then addressed the Duke. "I agree with the Queen's suggestion. We shall make it so. However, we also believe that Baron Barfort's courage and loyalty should be acknowledged for standing up against what he saw as a detriment of behavior to the kingdom the tribute is vast enough to smooth over any discontent. We will hold a ceremony to promote him from lower 5th rank to upper 5th rank and bestow upon him the title of Viscount. This will increase his tax burden to the kingdom and keep such a young, powerful knight in check."

The Queen nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it is a fitting recognition for his service and will ensure his continued loyalty."

Duke Redgrave bowed deeply. "Thank you, Your Majesties. I trust your wisdom in making the best decisions for the kingdom. May I make a suggestion that at the ceremony my support of Baron Barfort as a vassal be recognized by having his name changed to Redfort?"

The King looked at is friend the Duke and asked the question "Why?"

The duke spoke "The barons father is also Barfort and I would like to clear up any misunderstandings of just who my support is for since the young Barfort is a separate house."

The king nodded in acceptance of the dukes reasoning. "It will be done."

With the meeting concluded, Duke Redgrave left the throne room, confident that his plan would unfold as intended. The kingdom's political landscape was on the brink of a significant shift, one that would solidify his influence and power for years to come.

/

Meanwhile, Leon prepared for the journey to his territory with Angelica and Olivia. He knew the time spent together would be crucial in building a strong foundation for their marriage. As they set off, the future seemed uncertain but filled with potential.

Angelica, though apprehensive, couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. Perhaps this break would allow her to find happiness and forge a genuine connection with her new husband. And as for Olivia, she remained a steadfast presence, ready to support her friends through the challenges ahead.

Together, they embarked on this new chapter, unaware of the political machinations unfolding back at the kingdom. The wheels of fate were in motion, and only time would reveal the true outcomes of Duke and Crowns audacious plans.

The Redgrave airship soared gracefully through the skies, its sleek design a testament to the advanced engineering of the dukedom. Onboard, Angelica, Leon, and a group of servants made themselves comfortable for the journey ahead. Their first destination was Leon's family territory, a stop before heading to his own estate.

/

The sun was high in the sky as the airship glided smoothly above the clouds. Inside, Leon and Angelica sat in a private lounge area, joined by Olivia. The atmosphere was relaxed yet tinged with the excitement of new beginnings.

Angelica broke the ice with a smile. "Leon, Olivia, I think it's time we drop the formalities. Please, call me Angie."

Leon nodded, appreciating her gesture. "Very well, Angie. And you can call me Leon, of course."

Olivia chimed in with a cheerful tone, "And you can call me Livia. We're all friends here, after all."

The trio spent the day engaged in conversation, sharing stories and laughter. Leon recounted tales of his childhood adventures, painting vivid pictures of the landscapes and traditions of his family's territory. Angie listened intently, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

s the airship continued its smooth journey, Angie, Leon, and Livia settled into the comfortable lounge area once more. The evening sky outside turned a deep shade of blue, stars beginning to twinkle. The atmosphere inside was cozy and filled with the soft hum of conversation.

Leon leaned back in his chair, a reminiscent smile playing on his lips. "There's a story I've been meaning to tell you, Angie," he began, looking at her with a twinkle in his eye. "It's about the first time we met, years ago at Gilbert's estate."

Angie raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Really? I don't remember meeting you there. What happened?"

Leon chuckled. "Well, it's quite a tale. I was just a boy then, visiting Gilbert's estate for a year fostering. One day, I saw a young girl with servants wandering the path around the castle, and I thought she was in danger. There was a man sneaking up a tree up ahead of her, and I was certain he was a robber about to attack."

Angie leaned forward, intrigued. "What did you do?"

"I didn't think twice," Leon continued. "I charged at the man, ready to defend the girl. But as it turned out, the 'robber' was actually a knight who was training me in ambush tactics. He was teaching me how to recognize and react to potential threats."

Angie's eyes widened in astonishment and realization. "And that girl... that was me?"

Leon nodded, smiling warmly. "Yes, it was you. I had no idea at the time that you were Duke Redgrave's daughter. I just saw someone who needed help and acted on instinct."

Angie was speechless for a moment, processing the revelation. "I can't believe it. I had no idea our paths crossed so long ago. It's incredible to think that the boy who tried to save me that day turned out to be you, my husband."

Livia, who had been listening with a smile, added, "It seems fate had a hand in bringing you two together, even back then."

Angie looked at Leon, her expression softening. "Thank you for sharing that story, Leon. It means a lot to me. I never knew our connection went so far back."

Leon reached out and gently took her hand. "I'm glad I could share it with you, Angie. It feels like a small piece of destiny, don't you think?"

Angie nodded, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Yes, it does. I'm looking forward to discovering more about our past and building our future together."

The afternoon continued with more stories and laughter, the bond between Angie, Leon, and Livia growing stronger. As the airship sailed through the sky, they felt a sense of closeness and shared destiny that gave them hope for the journey ahead.

With this newfound understanding and connection, Angie felt more at ease. The journey to Leon's family territory was no longer just a trip; it was the beginning of a deeper relationship and a promising future. The airship moved steadily forward, carrying them towards new adventures and the strengthening of their bonds. After a bit Angie turned to Olivia.

"Livia, what about you?" Angie asked, turning to Olivia. "How did you come to be be fond of Leon?"

Olivia smiled, her expression thoughtful. "I met Leon at the academy. We became friends, and I've been by his side ever since. He's been a good friend and a steadfast shoulder to lean on."

As the conversation flowed, the bond between them grew stronger. Angie felt a sense of relief and contentment. Despite the whirlwind circumstances of her marriage, she was beginning to see the potential for happiness and companionship.

In the evening, they dined together, enjoying a meal prepared by the ship's skilled chefs. The dining room was adorned with elegant decorations, creating an ambiance of warmth and comfort. They continued their conversations over dinner, discussing their hopes for the future and the challenges they might face.

Leon looked at Angie, his expression sincere. "I know this marriage wasn't what you expected, but I want you to know that I'm committed to making it work. We'll face whatever comes our way together."

Angie nodded, her heart feeling lighter. "Thank you, Leon. I appreciate that. And I'll do my best to support you as well."

The servants brought nightcaps for Angie, Leon and Oliva to the table bringing glasses of wine and placed them in front of Leon and Angelica before getting a glass for Olivia.

Leon looked at the wine and then the servant and asked "I'm sorry but I don't drink alcohol could you please give me a cup of tea?"

The airship's lounge fell into an awkward silence as the servant delivered Duke Redgrave's instructions. The servant's voice was calm and respectful, yet the message carried a weight that was difficult to ignore.

"My lord, you and Lady Angelica have had special wine prepared for this evening by order of Duke Redgrave," the servant said. "Two of the Lady's handmaids are to stand outside your room tonight and secure the sheets in the morning to be delivered back to the Duke, to show the crown that the union cannot be easily dissolved."

Leon turned a bright shade of red and glanced at Angie, who was equally flustered, her head slightly lowered. The atmosphere, previously filled with camaraderie and budding affection, suddenly became tense.

Olivia, caught off guard, spat out her sip of wine. "They have to consummate the marriage before they even develop love for one another?" she exclaimed.

The handmaid, standing by respectfully, shook her head. "Mistress Olivia, this is the way of high nobility. Time is of the essence, and one of the accompanying ships will return in the morning to the Duke with the proof and the two handmaids as witnesses."

Olivia looked at her friends in shock, her mind racing with the implications. Angie, however, seemed to gather her resolve. She picked up her glass, looked at Leon, and downed it in one swift motion. "Leon, I think you should drink the wine," she said, her voice steady despite the blush on her cheeks.

Leon, still reeling from the announcement, looked into Angie's eyes. He saw a mixture of determination and vulnerability. Taking a deep breath, he reached for his own glass and drank the wine, feeling the warmth spread through his body.

The servant and handmaid bowed and left the lounge, leaving the three friends to process what had just transpired. Olivia, ever the supportive friend, tried to lighten the mood. "Well, I suppose there's no turning back now," she said with a forced smile. "Just remember, you two, this is only the beginning. You have a lifetime to build love and happiness."

Angie nodded, appreciating Olivia's attempt to comfort them. She stood up and walked over to Leon, who was still sitting, looking a bit stunned. "Leon," she said softly, taking his hand in hers, "we'll get through this. Let's go."

Leon stood, his mind racing but his heart steadying as he felt Angie's touch. "Yes, we'll face this together," he replied, his voice filled with determination.

They left the dining room, hand in hand, heading toward their designated room. Olivia watched them go, her heart heavy yet hopeful for her friends. She knew the road ahead would be challenging, but she also believed in their strength and resilience.
