So... I decided to make a multi chapter stories. Yay!

Prologue

When did it first start?

Oh right...

It all started since the day she woke up.

The heavens responded to the calling, they said, and the twin stars landed upon the world known as Tevyat.

However, only one twin emerged from the cracks...

The awakened twins then become a symbol, an enigma, she became power.

The people thought highly of her, they adored and look up to her, some of them even worship her. The people of the long destroyed nation... They sought her in hoping for better future, and that's the reason why they got destroyed.

The entire land was engulfed in flames that night, whilst the city is burning, screams of agony filled the air and the sky turned bright red as if reality itself is bleeding from the wound.

It was a sight that no man should ever see, yet she stood there upon the hill, witnessing it all going spiral down.

The feeling of despair, the pain, the hatred and the anger, all of it rages like storm inside her still fragile heart that day.

Maybe that was the beginning, the beginning of her descent into the whirlpool of insanity and despair.

The once bright and cheerful girl has long gone, replaced by the apathetic, cruel, and ruthless princess, who cares for nothing but the cause that she wholeheartedly believes in. One that guides her through this dark path that she had chosen, one that leads to her doom as well as everyone else.

And that is how she ended up like this...

"I can't believe that it must come to this, onii-chan..."

Her older brother's face stayed the same as ever, the same as when they were just kids, enjoying life and playing together in the park with the other kids. The same as when she and her older twin bid farewell to the place that they once called home. The same when the two were separated from eachother by the Sustainer. The same when she abandoned him that day after finally being reunited for 500 years.

But the expression on his face... It's completely different.

As the girl with short blonde hair stared blankly at the pair of golden eyes above her, one that is exactly the same as the one she possesses, all the girl could see are nothing but anger and hatred in them. No longer are the warmth and kindness exist in those beautiful golden orbs, the soft glow has faded to nothing but darkness, the warmth of the sun has been transformed into the coldness of space. He is broken, she can see it, and he is broken because of her. How tragic, how truly tragic the fates of the twins are.

"Why does it have to be this way, Lumine?"

Her brother's voice slipped out from between his lips, like an echo coming from afar.

His hair that once always tied into a braid trailing down his back, is now open to flowing freely in the air and kisses the ground below him. His clothes are messy and in tatters, with multiple holes littering it as well as dirt and blood splotched into the his once pure white cape. His face is in no better condition either, there's a scar that bleeds on one of his cheek, while the other are dirty from dust and mud. His lips are red, red from the blood he coughed out earlier, a perfect appearance for someone who just when through hell and made it out alive.

"You know full well why I did this, Aether..."

The blonde haired girl, Lumine, the younger one between the twins, croaked out softly and a little painfully, for she is in no condition better than her brother, in fact, it's worse.

The princess barely clings to life at this moment, she's still alive but barely, perhaps a little stroke shall do the job, like her brother's sword that kisses her neck currently for example.

She could feel the way her brother's grip on his sword tightened, he gritted his teeth as if holding back the sheer anger and hatred that overcoming him. His hands may have been firm in holding his sword, but still, it visibly trembles due to the emotions that he's feeling. Sadness, rage, disappointment, pity, regret, and most importantly of all, contemplation, it all mixed up in his head, almost turning his brain into mush at any moment right now.

"But does it have to be this way? Does it have to be done with destruction and bloodshed?!" Aether asked angrily, screaming every word right into her face. "Everyone... Everyone has been so nice to me... They all have put all of the effort in helping me to find you, and THIS is how you repay their kindness?!"

She didn't answer him right away, only looking at Aether's face blankly. Staring into that face of him that full of hatred and rage towards his own sister, his flesh and blood, someone who has been with him since birth, they've been always together before, playing, fighting, joking, and sometimes even sleeping too. And this is how their relationship ended, a duel to the death, only one twin can survive.

The world of Tevyat has fallen, or, should've been. She had declared war against humanity and the gods with her army of Abyssal monsters. They swept the landmasses clean, destroying everything that stood in it's paths. The Seven nations, the Seven Archons, and lastly, Celestia the Heavenly Principles, they were all her target, so it's only right that they all should be destroyed.

In her fight against destiny, the Princess of Khaenri'ah and the Abyss Order has successfully taken down the ruling divine body that had tormented this world for so long, but it also thanks to the support coming from her dear twin brother, who had led the allied seven nations to rebel against the divine for this purpose as as well. And successful they did in doing so coming out victorious at the end of it.

However... All the damages that this world suffer, is an unrepairable one.

Millions of people died due to the war against the dark forces of the abyss, some would say that a total of three quarters of Tevyat's population had died because of this. And that includes the residing Archons too, all of them have perished because of the war. Though the survivors can be considered lucky enough for them to live and see another day for them to start rebuilding the civilization that has lost, the deaths that happen cannot be undone, and it shall be known as a painful scar in the pages of history, one that can be a lesson for those who survived.

Like this golden boy above him...

"The gods have taken everything from this world Aether. They have taken everything from me." Lumine replied with a soft whisper, one that is audible enough for Aether to hear clearly. "The gods must pay for their crimes. They all had it coming, as well as their followers, they all deserve to suffer!"

"Do you think they had a choice?!" Aether retorted back, glaring at her sharply. "Have you ever thought just for a moment, of how the gods felt that day? They too have suffered pain and tragedies in their life, they are no different from humans! They have no free will to begin with, they did what they must, because they have no way no other way!"

Something is wetting her face, and she only realizes it now that it was tears, the tears of her brother to be exact, he was crying in spite of the anger overcoming him. The memories of all of his friends that he made on his journey surfaces in his mind, the friends that most if not all have been killed due to her actions, her actions from waging war against the whole population of Tevyat. The reason why they ended up like this, a duel to the death between the twins, with Aether coming out victorious, and is now only inches away from ending the life of his own sister.

How tragic... Never did she ever think that her life would end by the hands of her own brother... But Lumine guesses that from a certain point of view, it is nothing but quite the fitting end for a sinner like her, to be put down by her own brother, her brother that shines brightly like the sun, her brother whose warmness has united all the seven nations against her... Her brother... That is everything that isn't hers...

She will accept it. She will accept her death gladly if this is the way...

"You would never understand, unless you walk the same path as me, Aether..." Lumine croaked out, closing her eyes and releasing a small heavy sigh. "Do it. End it. Do what you must, kill me, dear brother of mine..."

Aether did not say anything after that. But after a long moment of silence, he seems to silently agree. She could feel the blade of his sword taken off from her neck, likely him raising it up as he prepares to finally strike her down and end her life and misery.

"If there were a different universe out there, if only there's a world that is similar yet different from this one, then I hope that we could've avoided being ended up like this." Aether finally spoke up after a long moment of silence, his blade raised high up in the air, aimed directly into Lumine's neck, ready to decapitate it. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be there with you, I'm sorry that you ended up like this, I'm sorry that I have to do this, I regret it all..."

His grip on his sword is firm, and Aether is ready.

"Goodbye, Lumine. I love you, sister, always."

And with that, the blade came down, and everything went blank for Lumine. She couldn't feel her own body anymore, a clear sign that she's really dead, and she is glad that it was a painless one. Guess all she needs to do now is to wait for hell to claim its prize. If the afterlife really exists, then that one place is only the fitting resting place for a great sinner like her.

There really is nothing that she felt, it was like she was now nothing but a lost soul aimlessly wandering around the abyss of death. There is no warmth, but there's no cold either, the concept of temperature doesn't seem to exist here. She doesn't even breathe, how strange, it's hard to believe that something as simple as breathing cannot exist here too, and yet she's still aware of her surroundings.

Welp, since she was already dead anyway, perhaps it's best that she started to learn to get used to this. She has no idea how long she will be stuck in here, but if Lumine has to guess, then perhaps this is but a state of her soul while it was on its way to the afterlife, or maybe, this is how death is, and this will be the condition she's having for all eternity. Being all alone, robbed of all your senses, seeing nothing but pure darkness forever, heh, sounds like a really fitting punishment for her-

SPLASH

"Ngh!"

Wait... What is this? Is this... Water? What?

Suddenly, without any warning, she has fallen into... Something. She doesn't quite make it with how blurry her visions are. But this feeling... The wet and coldness... It's unmistakably the feeling of when one is being drenched in water.

Her senses have returned to her? What happened? Why does it suddenly be like this?

The color of dark blue filled her eyes, and she could barely see the almost transparent white ripples above, she tried to reach out, like one back when she was still alive and had her body. And how utterly shocked she was to feel just that, to feel the feeling of having her arm reaching out, and the skin of her shoulder brushes against her cheeks.

She flexed her fingers, feeling the sensations of her flesh and bones covered by skin moves from her command. But not only that, she also felt how her reached out hand flailing freely in the air instead of underwater, so the water she's bathed in was a shallow one.

With this in mind, she tried to stand up, gasping and coughing as she opens her mouth and breathed desperately like that of a fish who stuck on land. Her wet hair drips water that fell to the ones below and also to the skin of her body. The blonde haired girl blinks her eyes once, and then twice, and then she looks down upon her hand to find them perfectly intact with no damages whatsoever, like she was back to the moment before the world war happened, back before her arrival to Tevyat in fact.

"What is going on?" She asked in confusion to no one in particular.

She was back to having her own body, perfect with her short blonde hair and golden eyes, based on her own reflection on the water surface below her. Though she is not wearing her usual outfit... Or anything else for that matter. Lumine knows full well that she is somewhat alive! Back to having her body again, back to being able to breathe again, to feel again, and even to sense her own body temperatures again. But how was this possible? What made her suddenly come back being alive? Sort of...

Having enough of wondering about her own state of body, Lumine turned her attention to her surroundings instead. She finds herself currently standing in some sort of weird space, a solid flat floor laid below her bare feet, while an ocean of shallow water that reaches up to her knee placed above it. And other than that, there is nothing else that exists here other than a thin white mist that slightly obscured her vision, not that she minds it since there's nothing for her to see anyway.

"Aether's blade should've killed me at that moment, I should be dead, then why am I here?"

She is sure of her very own demise. Her head has been severed from her body thanks to Aether bringing his sword down. So if she really is dead, then what is this? Is this the hell that she had been placed upon? But it doesn't seem like it. After all, what kind of hell that gives her a soothing and calming sensation like this? Other than the dread of being alone that is. Is this what they call a purgatory? But why is she here? Could it be-

Splash splash

There's some sounds coming from behind her, and Lumine quickly turns around to see what it was that made the splashing sound other than her. And that was when she finally saw a silhouette coming.

At first, it appears as an obscure shadow, thanks to all the mist, and then, it began to take a humanoid form. And then before long, a figure appears in front of Lumine. A figure that is unmistakably a human, with milky white skin and slender figure, but that's not the only feature the figure possesses.

"Huh? What the..."

"I thought that I was imagining things when I heard someone talking. But who would've thought..."

The figure before her... It was a girl, easily figured out since her front was completely exposed, with her mature plump breasts on full display. The girl has short blonde hair, and a pair of bright golden eyes, that is perfectly identical to Lumine.

"You are..."

"...Me."

Lumine whispered, and the other girl finished her sentence. With their golden eyes staring directly against each other, they stood there in silence and confusion.

To be Continued...

So yeah, this story is inspired by my idea for my other story, "Memories of The Forgotten Star," however the original idea would take too long to make as it require the said story to be finished first which would take a long time as well. And so that's when I get this idea from that idea, and I decided to give it a try. Hopefully, this story will turn out enjoyable.

Like always, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, even if it's just a prologue, and if you ever wanted to give me a story ideas, feel free to check out my Twitter (NaughtyTome) As always, thank you very much, love you.
