Chapter 3
My thoughts of haki are interrupted as I see something approaching the roof, eyes set on me. I recognized the hair shape and color but can't place it yet as this girl floats up to me I recognize the golden spirals that she shoots from her feet to fly. It's Nejire Hado and by her expression I can tell she has a million questions to ask me. Finally arriving on the roof of the building I was on she lets out a million watt smile. "Hi Im Nejire Hado, nice to meet you. You have a pretty looking quirk what's it called? Can you do more than just fly with it? I haven't seen you around. Are you new? When did you get here? What was your last school like? Oh sorry, was that too many questions?" I guess she finally saw my dead fish look. "Yeah that was a lot of questions, but my name is Izuku Midria, and yeah it's my first day, I'd rather not talk about my last school right now, and yeah I can do alot with my quirk. And thanks for the compliment. What are you doing up here anyways?" She responds without missing a beat."I saw a blue flaming bird landing on the school roof that then turned into a boy through my window. I had to come see it for myself. And you cheated, you didn't tell me what your quirk can do." She had the most adorable pout I have ever seen. It almost made my heart melt. Deciding to tease her a bit." well you only asked if I could do more than fly not what I can do. So technically I did answer your question, besides you didn't tell me what your quirk was so I won't tell you mine." Of course I already knew what her quark was. I just wanted to mess with her. "Oh right, I forgot to tell you my quirk. Well my quirk is called wave motion. It lets me shoot spirals out of my hands and feet." she does a quick display shooting a laser out of her hand." Ok now your turn what dose your quirk do?" I guess I have to hold up my end and explain my quirk now. "My quirk is called rejuvenating ember. It basically turns me into a phoenix. I can transform any part of my body into the blue flames at will or even do a bird human hybrid. My fire also can heal whatever it touches. I also have a bunch of other passive abilities but that is the most important part." She looked at me in awe. "Wow, that sounds super cool, is your fire hot? Can you regrow limbs? If you're a phoenix what happens if you die? Do you get reborn? Is your body completely made of fire when you're in your bird form?"...-_- Does she always do this? This many questions is ridiculous. Deciding to cut her short "well I doubt that I can resurrect myself I can regrow limbs. And yes in bird form I am completely made of fire it also makes me untouchable by any incoming attacks. The cool part is I can make myself untouchable even in my base form, and to answer your first question no my fire isn't hot. Well Nejire it's been cool chatting with you but I got to get some rest. My first official day as a Soumei student starts tomorrow so I'll see you around." I do a backwards fall off the roof and summon my tail and wings. They still don't come out nearly as quick as I've seen Marco do it but I'll figure it out eventually. Expanding my wings I slowly glide into my window satisfied with my first ever flight.
I take a quick shower after getting out. I checked the time, deciding I had about 2 hours left before I head to bed. I decide on what form of haki I should try to learn first. Luffy learned all 3 in 2 years but he had a haki master training him and the teaching methods were extreme. Not to mention he was a prodigy when it came to anything combat related in his verse. If UA starts at grade 9 that means I have 6 and a half years to learn haki, but I also have to work on my quirk as well. I also doubt i will find haki easy to learn so it would likely take me triple the time to learn it without a teacher. But if i focus on one i might be able to learn it in about 4 years. ken haki hands down has the most uses and is very versatile in its uses so I think I will learn that first, and I think I will focus on buso haki in the rest of the time. Mind made up I go to bed ready to get started on the next day.
Waking up bright and early I brush my teeth and clean myself. Looking in the mirror I notice a change in my hair color. Its now an orange with a faint glow to it, and I easily match it to my quirks colors my eyes also match my quirk but instead of orange they are blue also with a faint glow to them. I guess the exposure to my quirk had an effect on me (no real reason for this I just think it would look cool) Now dressed and ready to start my day I head to the main academy and go to the main office like I was instructed to. There I met the teacher who was going to have me for the rest of the year. He was a very boring looking man. He was tall with short black hair, no distinct facial features and looked to be in his late 20's." Hello Izuku, my name is Teruichi, but you can call me Mr.T. I'll be your home room teacher for the year, and if you have any questions about your school work or any questions all all I'll be happy to help you." I nodded to show I understood feeling a bit more nervous than I thought I would. Following Mr.T to my classroom he explained a few things to me most of which was boring school stuff I could do in my sleep. In my last life I was 17 going into college early. So school is not only still fresh in my memory but I was no slouch in my studies beforehand. But there was one class I was looking forward to and that was the quirk theory class, unfortunately he didn't go into detail he just mentioned it right before we got to the classroom. Arriving at the door he told me to wait outside until I heard my name. A few moments later I heard my signal and walked in scanning the classroom for any familiar faces. Fortunately or unfortunately I don't recognize anyone but I just did a passing glance. I do know Tenya Ida said he went to this school so I might keep an eye out for him. After doing the classic introduction to the class I took the seat I was assigned, and the teacher began his lecture. The whole day was a drag of work I could do blindfolded but soon enough the last 2 classes got my attention. The first was the quirk theory class Mr.T mentioned earlier and the last was quirk practice. Quirk theory was a 2 part class. The first half was learning quirk patterns and potential abilities from those patterns, and the 2nd part was spent applying those theories to yourself and classmates. After that we go to the gym to do quirk practice and, now I see why this school gets so many UA recommendation test takers. The classes were actually fun and entertaining so I atleast have 2 classes to look forward to. I decided to use the quirk gym to experiment on my shifting speed because until I learn Buso haki I don't know if using my bird talons will be effective. While I can choose to not make them heal someone, they're not sturdy and because of the flame like nature it won't hold shape or from when it hits something which is why I think marco kicks with his regular feet instead of using his bird talons on marine ford. Truthfully speaking I don't think my body could handle the Buso haki training though, so Ken haki is probably the only option for now anyways. Anyways my shifting speed improved slightly after repeated shifts so I'll keep that in mind when I want to train it again. The class ended and we were told that we could leave if we wanted, but if we wanted to stay, the gym would be open for another 6 hours. Deciding to stay and work on one of my several theories on how I can teach myself Ken haki I first try meditating while focusing on all 5 of my senses. This did not work at all; it felt like I was doing the opposite of what I wanted to do. Everytime I heard something the only sense I could focus on was sound. If the wind blew across my face all I could focus on was touch. So I insead tried to see if there was a 6th sense I could pull on naturally that didn't work either. So I did my best to recreate the clips of Luffy learning his haki. Naturally I couldn't convince an adult to wack a 6 year old in the head until he dodged so I got the tennis ball machines up and running, blindfolded myself and let myself get abused for 5 hours. I dodged a few but I think that was down to luck not haki. I was sure that the adults were laughing at me somewhere but if i actually learn haki it will be well worth the embarrassment. *chuckle* Or not I felt my ears burn with embarrassment. "What's funny!" I exclaimed as I took off my blindfold."Have you seen yourself? What are you doing anyways? And wasn't your hair green yesterday?" After the series of questions I already knew who it was before the blindfold came off."I'm trying to improve my senses by dodging tennis balls. And I don't know why my hair changed colors. It was just like this this morning. What about you? "What brings you here so late?" obviously still finding my inability to dodge funny she stifles a laugh"I normally come and do an hour of quirk training a day I just had to do some studying earlier so I got to do my last minute training." she begins walking away"Hey wait. Can you help me?" she turns and looks at me with a gleam in her eye. "What can big sis Nejire help you with?" I already regret asking "Well I think we could do joint training. You could get practice with your quirk by flying around me and throwing balls at me at random. You could even use your quirk to enhance the speed of the balls."The idea seemed to excite her."That sounds like fun, but are you sure it's ok what if you get hurt?" rolling my eyes. "Did you forget that I can almost infinitely heal?" That seemed to be all the encouragement she needed as she geared up to assault me with tennis balls. I had one more theory to try with haki. The word roughly translates to spirit, drive, and willpower. So what if I'm supposed to will it into existence? With that thought I wished as hard as I could to sense my environment blindfold back on trying to convert my spirit and drive into an energy source. My goal to get to the next memory, the next episode. The goal I adopted from Izuku, to become a hero, one that would impress mom, one that would make Bakugo jealous, One that will save everyone just as Izuku wanted. Then I felt it. I did not sense anything but I felt a new energy source. It felt odd like a storm of fire waiting to be released. I try to draw it to the surface and I feel it begin to respond to my desires as I get whacked in the nose by a tennis ball. "OW! I wasn't ready yet" healing my nose that you couldn't convince me wasn't broken. I hear Nejire" well you were just standing there so I went for it." She said it so casually like she didn't almost remove my nose from my face." Let me tell you when to start. Ok?" "fine" Searching for that feeling again I catch it and will it to my 4 senses available touch, sound, smell, and taste. It worked sorta. It was very faint and fuzzy but I could tell Nejire was to my left even though I last heard her on my right but that was it. I gave her the ok to throw. I had no clue where the ball was but I moved to the left of where she was suddenly noticing a orb spiraling at me about a foot from me. I ducked excited that I actually did it. Then it all went dark, losing focus caused me to lose it. This continued for an hour. At the end I had to heal 3 black eyes, a handful of lumps and bruises, and 2 broken noses. That girl is scary. "You know there are other places to aim for right?" Laughing at my pain she said " Its not my fault that you duck thinking you dodged when you really just moved your face into an attack." Unable to argue with her I gave her my goodbyes as I ran off to my room to get cleaned.
