Chapter 6: Mistletoes and Presents, Part One

Disclaimer: I Don't Own the Song used in this Chapter

The weeks go by normally for everyone, The event that happened a few weeks prior the pups are still Oblivious as to what happened. and the Paw Patrol has fulfilled its responsibilities in the best possible way: some minor rescues, some small accidents of Daring Danny X; in short, routine things,

Today, part of that routine puts two pups to work early on a fresh December morning. They arrived at Mr. Porter's to help him with a very special request.

"According to Ryder's instructions, Mr. Porter needs us to help him first with the repair of an energy substation of his Restaurant, and afterward, we will also help him to place the new season decorations in front of his Restaurant." Gabriel ticked off, making sure that everything was included.

"Well, I'm ready to work, and also to eat Mr. Porter's delicious meatballs." Rubble says with a dreamy look on his face, licking his lips in anticipation. "Let's hurry so we can eat, Gabriell!"

"Are those meatballs that good?" Gabriel asked, wondering why Rubble was making such a huge deal over some regular food. Rubble abruptly skidded to a halt, gaping at Gabriel with complete disbelief.

"W-Wait, whaaaa?! Have you never tried them?!" Gabriel shrugged and shook his head. "No..."

"Well, that's that! As soon as we finish, I'm asking Mr. Porter to make us some! You're gonna love them, Gabriel, trust me!" Rubble bolted down the block, new vigor in his tiny puppy legs. Gabrel hurried after him, trying to reason with his teammate.

"Rubble, I don't think we-"

"Nonsense! You're gonna love them more than those sausages!" Gabriel thought about it- Marshall brought them home one night and he had to admit, they were pretty good. Hoping that the meatballs would be just as good, Gabriel decided to agree with Rubble, and together, they raced to Mr. Porter's restaurant.

Meanwhile, in the Lookout's Courtyard...

"Well guys, Rubble will see to it that Gabriel doesn't return for several hours so we can plan his surprise birthday party!" Ryder said, clapping his hands together. The other pups yipped, howled, and jumped in excitement- with Gabriel constantly around, they hadn't had the time to plan his surprise birthday party.

"Sooo… where are we holding Gabriel's party?" Marshall questioned.

"Well, here wouldn't be a good idea because Gabriel could discover us. So I thought it would be a better idea to do it at the sports park." Ryder smiled as one by one, the pups agreed to the location.

"And when is the pawty?" Zuma asked.

"In three days," Ryder explained. "We have a lot to do- we have to get presents, set up the location, get the cake, set up the balloons and music. Remember, Gabriel hasn't had a true birthday party in years, so we have to make sure this one is the best one he'll ever have!"

Everyone agreed with the idea, but Marcus brought up one important detail. "Ryder, pups? In order for this to work, Gabriel shouldn't know anything about it. Not. A. Thing."

At that, Ryder and the pups whipped their heads to Marshall, who was laughing and shaking his head- he WAS known to be a blabbermouth, and even he knew it.

"Okay, okay! I'll do my best to not reveal anything!" He promised as he made a mock salute. A chorus of laughter was shared before Ryder got the pups back to business.

"PAW Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder called, dismissing the pups to put their plan to give their friend Gabriel the best surprise party ever!

The day continued as normal. Back at Mr. Porter's Restaurant, Gabriel and Rubble finished placing a huge pine tree. Mr. Porter decided to allow the children of Adventure Bay to decorate it, to kickstart the spirit of the holidays.

"Ready!" Gabriel checked everything one last time and was pleased with the results. "The tree is standing perfectly, and with the minor repairs we made to Mr. Porter's electric generator, the children can decorate to their heart's content!" Gabriel exclaimed.

"Yes! Finally! Now we can enjoy some of Mr. Porter's meatballs!" Rubble cheered. Gabriel was a bit excited himself, but he still felt like a burden for intruding on Mr. Porter. He had other things on his mind, anyway.

"I don't know Rubble, maybe it would be best if we return home. Besides I would like to-" Gabriel knew his birthday was just around the corner, and for the first time in years, he finally had a family to spend it with. But there was still the possibility and fear that he would have to spend it alone... yet again. He needed to get some things off his chest, but before he could finish his sentence, Mr. Porter came out with two trays of something piping hot and smelling good, which made Rubble's stomach grumble happily. Gabriel had to admit, his mouth was watering, too.

"Wow! The electric generator works so much better! And the tree is perfect!" Mr. Porter seemed pleased, and set the trays down. He gave each pup a scratch behind their ears.

"You two did an excellent job! And to thank you, I have prepared a dish of my best meatballs." The scent of the meatballs hypnotized Gabriel, and he finally gave in to his hunger. Rubble was visibly excited and couldn't contain himself.

"Oh, wow! Those meatballs smell just delicious!" Rubble exclaimed. Gabriel walked slowly to the plate, uncertainty sitting in his chest. Was he supposed to just go ahead and eat them like that?

"Come on over and have some, Gabriel!" Rubble grinned as he licked his lips free of sauce. Gabriel whined, still hesitant, but he had to admit, the meatballs did smell really, really good. He gave in and walked over, nibbling on one before his eyes lit up and he began eating with more vigor. Mr. Porter quickly turned to Rubble and winked knowingly at him before he headed back inside.

"Gabriel, eat up! I've gotta run to the, uh, restroom!" Rubble darted inside before Gabriel could even look up. Once inside, he activated his pup tag to contact Ryder.

"Ryder, Rubble here!" he spoke in a hushed voice. "It worked! Mr. Porter made the meatballs and I think Gabriel is going to be pretty occupied for right now. You guys are good to go!"

Ryder smiled at the news. "Great job, Rubble! Stay with him so it doesn't look suspicious."

Rubble giggled- food was one thing that he would NEVER turn down! "Roger that! Rubble out!" With that, Rubble shook himself off, washed his paws, and made his way back to a still-eating Gabriel.

Within a record five hours, the pups and Ryder had bought and set up most of the decorations and balloons, Katie was in the process of making a particularly special cake, and Ryder had Rubble on distracting duty. It seemed like everything was going well, until...

"Guys ... What are we going to give Gabriel as a gift?" Marshall's question leaves everyone thinking for a moment.

"How could we forget such an important detail?!" Rocky said worriedly. The others wondered the same thing until Chase came up with a rather unusual idea.

"Pups... we might have to go out and each of us find a special gift for Gabriel's party."

Naturally, the others were very unsure of that plan, and Marshall was the first to voice it. "But, Chase, this is a surprise party. Meaning we have to act like we forgot about Gabriel's birthday. Won't that hurt him?"

Ryder saw what Marshall meant, and knelt in front of the worried pup. "Marshall, I know how you feel. But this is Gabriel, and he's family. We wouldn't do anything to hurt his feelings, right?"

"Y-Yeah... b-but, but-"

"No buts. If we follow the plan and work together, we're giving our friend the best party of his life." Ryder was so confident in his plan that Marshall couldn't help but be confident, too. His face slowly lit up and he licked Ryder's cheek, earning a laugh from the boy.

"Ryder, pups? We, uh, we have a problem!" Marcus suddenly called, pointing down the street. Gabriel and Rubble were closing in on the Lookout. Ryder put his hands on his hips as he gave out a single order.

"Alright, pups. You know what to do- keep Gabriel from seeing anything!"

Just as they were pulling in, Rocky ran out to meet them- and to prevent Gabriel from getting any closer.

"H-hey guys!" Rocky tried to keep his voice normal. He glanced at Rubble. "Hey, Rubble, Ryder wants to talk to you about the 'mission' earlier."

Rubble quickly understood and ran off to the Lookout. Gabriel started to follow suit, but Rocky put out a paw to stop him.

"Wait! Uhhh, I was on my way to the recycling center! Would you come with me?" Rocky turned to the innocent eyes. "Please, Gabriel? Pleeease?"

Gabriel looked at Rocky surprisingly- unless it was something difficult, Rocky normally went on his own- if nothing else, Gabriel knew he liked the peace and quiet. He sat down, wanting to see the others, but not wanting to hurt Rocky's feelings.

"But, but I-" Gabriel tried to argue. Rocky's larger, almost Marshall-like puppy dog eyes made Gabriel sigh in defeat. 'I need to tell that pup to stop doing that! It's spreading to the others!' Gabriel thought to himself

"Darn it... okay, Rocky. Come on." Gabriel as he headed back to his vehicle. Rocky grinned, but the moment Gabriel had his back turned, he let out a relieved sigh and winked over his shoulder at Ryder, who'd managed to stay hidden during that entire conversation. The two pups boarded their vehicles to stall for more time, as the party planning for the best surprise party ever continued uninterrupted.

Later on, in the Adventure Bay Jungle...

Tracker paced worriedly back and forth near the temple of Queen Mona. He had received a call from Marcus about an hour ago, requesting help searching for something possibly within the ruins of the temple. Tracker was quite worried- Ryder hadn't called Carlos, so either something bad happened, or there was a good reason for the call.

He'd know as soon as Marcus arrived. But that didn't ease his worrying one bit.

"Heyyy! Tracker!" Marcus yelled out, startling the pup. running towards him from where he'd parked at the entrance of the jungle, barking and yipping loudly- a bit too loud for ears as large as Tracker's, making the chihuahua close his ears.

'Don't you worry, Gabriel! I know what I'm going to find here! I just know it!' he thought happily as he finally skidded to a stop in front of Tracker. Tracker ducked his head to avoid the dust stirred from his paws.

After he coughed out some rocks, Tracker asked while rubbing his ears, "Hola, amigo. What is the matter? Why did you ask me to wait for you at the entrance to the Temple of the Monkey Queen?"

Marcus smiled mysteriously and began walking on ahead. "Why not come on and find out?" he playfully winked. Tracker arched an eyebrow but followed. However, after several minutes of walking, he stopped and stomped his paw angrily on the ground.

"Marcus! I demand to know what we are doing here!" Tracker loudly voiced. He narrowed his eyes. "I will not move another step until you tell me, amigo. What is going on?"

Marcus stops and turns to face Tracker. "If you must know, we're throwing Gabriel a surprise party and I wanted to get him a unique and special gift," he explained. "So I... well, kind of figured maybe there would be something special in the relics of this old place he would like!"

Tracker, now understanding what Marcus' plan was, and seeing that his friend's heart was in the right place, stepped forward. "Marcus, mi amigo. It's not about the type of gift you get him. It should-"

Before Tracker could finish, Marcus stepped on a switch in front of them. When he did, a massive door opened in front of them...revealing a massive coconut starting its very slow descent towards them.

"Is that a coconut? It's gigantic!" Marcus was in awe, while Tracker whimpered- the coconut was heading towards them, and they needed to run! Fast!

"Run, Marcus! We have to get out of here!" The two pups start running in the direction of the exit as fast as they can. Marcus glanced up and saw an opportunity to get them out alive.

"Look up, Tracker! Light!" Tracker glanced up and saw what Marcus was talking about, and together, the pups timed their movements and activated their pup packs at the same time.

"Arf! Cables!" Tracker used his cables to climb immediately.

"Arf! Rescue rope!" Marcus did the same with his rope, and both pups swung themselves to safety. The moment they jumped out of the skylight, the massive coconut broke open and the milk slowly oozed from the bottom of the closed-off door. Marcus and Tracker sighed in relief- that was too close!

"That... that was... TOO close!" Marcus panted. Tracker was still struggling to get air in his lungs himself, and he plopped on the ground, exhausted.

"A-Agreed, a-ami...go..." he wheezed. Marcus looked at him and felt terrible for making the poor pup run around like he was, and for a reason, he wasn't sure was valid anymore.

"T-Tracker, I-I'm sorry..." he apologized. "I-I wanted to find him a special gift, not cause all this mess!"

But Tracker just placed his right front paw on Marcus' shoulder, smiling in understanding. "Don't worry, Marcus. I understand how you feel, but you don't have to do all this for just a gift."

"B-But I-" And suddenly Tracker pulled out an item that surprised Marcus. He tilted his head. "Is that a... scarf?"

"I've been making this scarf for our amigo, too. It's nothing special, and I'm knitting it with my own two paws." Tracker put it away so it wouldn't get dirty. "It's about the thought from the heart, Marcus. That's what makes the gift special."

Marcus is moved by the gift, and even more moved by the words spoken, but that did little to change his mind. "Thanks, Marcus. I know you're right, and I know it's true, but..." He sighed and shook his head.

"I've got to find something super special for Gabriel. Maybe I'll head back to Adventure Bay to figure it out." Marcus looked at Tracker with appreciation and shook his paw. "Thank you again, Tracker. Hope to see you soon!"

"Of course, mi amigo! Just think of something from the heart!" The two pups headed back to the entrance of the jungle, and Marcus decided to go someplace where he could collect his thoughts and figure out what he was going to do to find the perfect, special gift for Gabriel.

Gabriel's Former Mansion...

Marcus walked inside the old hallways of the huge mansion, thinking and talking to himself. He was in a bit of a pickle. Chief Antonio told him about this place once, it was Gabriel's home before the fallout with his parents.

"Gabriel, what to do, what to do... I mean, you are very special to everyone! But I have no clue what to get for your special day to show that-" Suddenly, Marcus realized he was falling down at a rapid speed.

"YAHHHHHHH!" With that, he crashed hard to the ground below. "OOF!"

Marcus caught his breath- the impact knocked the wind from his lungs- and slowly got to his paws. "Oh man, that hurt... ooohh, where am I, anyways..."

Marcus looked around before something on the floor caught his attention. He peered closer and saw it was a book. From the looks of it, it seemed like it was something old. Marcus sat down and pulled the dusty thing close to him, blowing off the excess dust and coughing as a result. When he read the cover, however, he was a bit perplexed, to say the least.

"Poems For Our Beloved... Son?" Marcus opened the cover and read a little before he realized what he was holding in his paws.

"N-No way... this is... this is perfect!" With a bark of joy, he closed the cover and carefully stored his new gift in his pup pack before rushing out of the dusty old mansion. All his worries were now pure excitement as he finally had the perfect gift for his friend!

'It's as if what Tracker said actually came true. Something from the heart... maybe not mine, but someone cared about Gabriel enough to leave this behind for him. It's from... his parents. I wonder why he never mentioned he lived here before...'

But before Marcus left, he saw a small silver pendant, so he went to pick it up. "What's the picture in this?" Marcus said as he opened the pendant up. He saw a Chow-Chow puppy in a pup-fu uniform, this had to be Gabriel.

Later in the Canine Global Security Watch Force, Spyro sat at a desk staring at a computer. "Let's see, Lizzie and Flarezian are still in DC, Isaac and Silver are almost done in New York," Spyro told himself, accounting for everyone.

"Luke and Lance are on a special mission outside of the country, and everyone else is at the base," Spyro said to himself. "What are you doing?" Spyro hears a pup's voice. He looks over to see a teenage Dalmatian pup.

"Oh, Your Matthias, Marshall brother, right?" Spyro said. "Yes but how do know my brother?" Matthias asked defensively. "Well, that is complicated, I have never met him but I know a few people that do, most Hunter, he has developed quite a liking to that pup," Spyro tells him with a smile.

"Marshall always did seem happier with him, how is Hunter," Matthias asked. "The best way to put it is a mess, from trauma to breakdowns, he is a lot of work but I think it is worth it, I hear from Raven that he even started to smile a little," Spyro tells him with a small grin.

"So, why are you here and not Antonio?" Matthias asked curious. "Well, I am here to take over for Antonio because he and Rodrigo are out for a few weeks because they need some time together," Spyro tells him.

"That is good, Antonio has been working too hard why would he trust you?" Matthias asked. "Well I am his son, and I run Team HOPE so I am really the only one that can really understand him and his work," Spyro tells him.

"How did that come to be, being a Dragon must have made it hard," Matthias asked. "That is a long story but I will give you a short version, Antonio found me as an egg years ago and has raised me from there, he may not be the best father but is still mine," Spyro says with a smile.

"Anyway, Can you give me a rundown on who's here? it has been a few years since I have worked here so knowing who is on the team is important," Spyro said. "Well, there are a lot of members here, there is me, my Parents, Pedro, and Marcus on the field that you know but there are plenty of members, I think your computer has a list of all members," He tells him.

"Would this computer have a history of all leaving members?" Spyro asked. "Yes, I think it does but why?" Matthias asked. "Well because I am a bit of investigating," Spyro said as Matthias walked over to see the computer screen.

"A group of people attacked Gabriel and knew who I was, I need to find out why that is," Spyro says and looks up past members. He saw a few different names but two stuck out. Sebastian and Nate. Nate did not say resigned like the others, it said missing.

"What is this about?" Spyro said and clicked on it. "I don't know, I have never heard of a missing member," Matthias tells him. Spyro reviews the information. Last seen in one of Adventure City's hotels three years ago

"Well that is strange, I knew him, he was a bright and Reliable young man, why is he missing?" Spyro said out loud. "I am sure there is a record of the hotel, I am sure we can find out more there," Matthias said. "If we can't, then if he was reported missing there than then there will be a record in the police station, I have a lead, say are you up for some field work?"

The next morning, the pups, still working to keep the surprise a secret from Gabriell, made sure they didn't hang around the pup for too long. Gabriel tried each time to call out to them-

"Guys, hey!"

"Rubble, are you free to hang out?"

"Chase! Marshall! Wait up!"

-and each time, was either ignored or rejected. It was starting to make Gabriel feel depressed, and as the other pups headed for other tasks and missions in all directions, Gabriel slumped in defeat near the Lookout entrance. Ryder walked out at that moment, and seeing Gabriel sad piqued his interest.

"Hey, Gabriel. What's wrong?" Ryder asked him. "You seem pretty down." In the back of his head, Ryder knew exactly why Gabriel felt like he did, but he knew it was going to be worth it when the time came.

Gabriel glanced up at Ryder before hanging his head in defeat. "I-It's not a big deal, R-Ryder. It's just... I wanted to hang out with one of the pups, but..." Drawing a nervous circle with his hind paw, Gabriel looked fully up at Ryder. "I kinda miss having people's company... no one wants to hang out with me..."

Ryder patted Gabriel's head, knowing this would happen, but hoped the surprise would make up for it. "Don't fret, Gabriel. It's not you, they're just really busy. See, Chase, Rocky and Skye are going to help at the bookstore, due to Christmas sales and whatnot. Rocky is supposed to be building something that will make clearing out inventory a lot smoother."

Gabriell smiled a little; so it wasn't him after all. "Oh, okay. So they're just helping out at the bookstore for now..." Gabriel suddenly had an almost nostalgic smile on his face, and Ryder tilted his head in question. Upon realizing he was being watched, Gabriell explained:

"D-Do you think... the bookstore would have a book series called "The World's Best Inventions"?

"The World's Best Inventions?" Ryder listened attentively to Gabriel, never hearing of such a book before. He also realized that he might have just gotten an idea for his birthday.

"Yes. It's a series of books that I've always wanted. See, with them, I could get new ideas for new inventions. But..." Gabriel's face fell a little. "But it's been a long time since I realized that I can't have those books, so ... I guess you don't always get what you want …"

Gabriel remembered that he did in fact have someplace to be, and he didn't want to continue this sad conversation any further. "S-Sorry, Ryder. I'm running a little late, and I need to repair the Flounder's engine." Gabriel licked Ryder's cheek. "See you later, Ryder. Thanks for the talk."

Gabriel hopped in his vehicle and drove off, leaving Ryder to think about what he was just told. "'The World's Best Inventions', huh... let's see ... Gabriel seems to want it so much, maybe I could give it to him."

Ryder immediately started checking on his Pup Pad, but his face fell when he saw the cost.

"900 dollars?! That's 300 dollars a book!" The value of the books represented a real challenge at that moment for the young leader of the PAW Patrol.

"Now I understand why Gabriel said he wouldn't get them. I guess his old owner couldn't afford it, either. But Gabriel would be so happy if he could have these..."

Ryder continued reading his Pup-Pad, and the information he read definitely caught his attention. "Wait a moment. One of the books is here in Adventure Bay, another is in Foggy Bottom, and the third book is in Barkingburg? But why would they be separated?" He tapped his chin in thought, and then a determined look spread across his face. It was decided.

"I'm going to find these books! Expensive or not!" Ryder nodded firmly and set off to the control room to figure out how to locate the books and who he would need to ask. He didn't really care who he had to ask, if it was for Gabriel... he'd do anything for him. And this would be the perfect way to top his special birthday off!

Adventure Bay Bookstore

Chase, Rocky, and Skye are helping to accommodate the books so that customers can locate them easily and Rocky pays special attention to everything, to try to devise some way to facilitate the bookstore owners the work he and the other two pups did.

"Wow! There are so many books! "Skye seems surprised by the amount of books, many of them still in boxes, ready to be shown to the clients.

"The books that are received here always have many buyers, everyone loves to read ... I wonder if they will have the new efficient police manual?" Chase loads a series of books and goes to place them on one of the shelves.

"I just hope I can come up with something to help here ... there are a lot of books ... and finding one quickly for a client must be a challenge." Rocky places a series of children's books on a counter, where children regularly check out books of adventures and fairy tales.

The pups continue with their work when suddenly, a pile of books begins to fall.

"WATCH OUT!" Chase manages to pull Rocky, but even so, the two of them end up covered in books, Skye comes up and picks up one, and the heads of their friends come out, while the two of them start coughing.

"Hahaha! I could never have imagined an avalanche of books!" Skye can't help but laugh when she sees the image in front of her.

"I guess it was inevitable ... there are too many books ..." Chase starts to come out from under the little mountain of books. But to everyone's surprise, Rocky comes out smiling.

"Yes! It's great! A system of automated clamps" Skye and Chase are surprised to hear Rocky. "Yes! That system of automatic tweezers could speed up the delivery of books, and your search! I just have to prepare a computerized system, and attach it to the clamp system! "

"It sounds like a great idea, maybe I and Gabriell could help you with this ... that could help us to distract him, and finish preparing his birthday party." Rocky thinks about it for a few seconds ... he really wants to make that new system, but when he hears the suggestion of Chase, for a few seconds Rocky feels displaced ... However, Rocky regains his composure immediately. "Rocky?"

"It's a good idea Chase ... I'll just need some tools, some materials, and Gabrilel's help. I'll tell him to help me as soon as we finish here." The three pups begin to collect the books ... "Pups you have to know, I still haven't got a gift for Gabriel ... " Skye and Chase look at Rocky immediately.

"I don't either ... I still can't think of giving ..." Chase drops his ears something sad as he thinks about that special gift.

"Neither do I ... and we're running out of time." Skye at that moment, when lifting a book, is left watching intensely, which surprises her friends.

Skye just smiles, and she reads what is written in the title of the book. "Training and advanced techniques within the history of Pup Fu." The pups look at Skye in amazement. "I think I just found the perfect gift for Gabriel!" Skye gives a very happy backflip.

"You know Skye, I think you aren't the only one ..." Rocky immediately uses his tweezers, and with them, he extracts a book and also reads the title of his cover. "Great inventions throughout history." Chase and Skye look at Rocky, and the pup just smiles when he gives his explanation ... " Gabriel loves mechanics and inventions. I think Gabriel would love this book because it tells of the evolution of inventions and their uses. It may be simple, but I think Gabriel would like it very much. "

The pups look happy, Chase is about to say something, but his pup tag begins to shine, and the voice of his leader is heard. "Chase, I need you in the Lookout, I'm going to need your help with something very special ..."

The communication is cut off, and the pups only look at Chase. 'Neglect Rocky and Skye, it's certainly something special, Ryder would not interrupt a job for us without a reason.' Chase thinks and says goodbye to the two pups, who begin to plan how they will wrap their presents, while Chase leaves the bookstore and climbs to his vehicle, and he returns to the control tower ... but a thought is in his mind, and for the moment, he can not get it out of his head ... "And now ... what will I give to Gabriel as a gift"

Chase arrives as soon as he can to the Lookout, and when he does, Ryder was waiting for him, along with Robodog which seems to surprise him. "Ryder ... I arrived as soon as possible ... but why is Robodog with you?" Ryder just smiles, while Chase realizes that the Air Patroller is behind the Lookout.

"Chase, we have a small mission, but little time to do it ... Gabriel wants a series of very special books, but too expensive, however, I located the three books separately, one is in Foggy Bottom ..." Upon hearing that, Chase's expression is surprising.

"Ryder ... You won't be implying that we're going to ask for help from ..." Ryder shakes his head, and Chase just sighs.

"I'm not implying it ... I'm affirming it! We're going to ask him for help!" Chase's expression is such a surprise that he can't articulate a word. Just then Margareth arrives, already ready with her uniform and her Pup Pack.

"Come on ... police pup, aren't you supposed to be ready for anything?" Chase did not expect the presence of the older sister of Marshall.

"Chase, since the first book is in Foggy Bottom, we need to ask for help from Mayor Humdinger, but ... it will be inevitable that his disastrous kittens will intervene ... so Margareth is going to help you control your allergies while we're there." Chase is looking intently at Ryder, and he is about to argue, however, Margareth prevents it.

"Not even if you happen to argue with Ryder, Chase! I'm going to make sure you don't suffer so much from those allergies of yours! And there's no discussion!" Chase now understands why Marshall can't argue with his sister ... and really, he doesn't want to.

"The second book is located in Barkingburg, apparently sheltered with a collector. Maybe the Princess could help us get it in time for Gabriel, so we'll go quickly after finishing at Foggy Bottom." Nobody notices it, but while Ryder is talking, a pup seems to have heard and runs quickly to his Pup House to put on his uniform and to put on his Pup Pack, almost desperate.

"The last book is here in Adventure Bay ... curious, we can ask Mayor Goodway for help ... but for the moment, it's urgent that we get on the move ... Robodog, I need you to drive to Foggy Bottom, then we'll go to Barkingburg, and finally we will return home, here we will finish getting the last book." Robodog barks animated, accepting the mission.

But when they are about to board the Air Patroller, Marshall appears running. "Wait for me! Please! Let me go with you! Please! I beg you! I could be very useful to you!"

Ryder and Chase seem surprised but Margareth just smiles to see the reaction of Marshall but none are opposed to him accompanying them on this small mission. So Marshall approaches, happy to help ... and for something more ... "Ok ... Paw Patrol is on a roll!" Immediately, the Air Patroller takes off ... straight to its first point of arrival ... Foggy Bottom.

Katie's Clinic

The day has gone by quite normally, Katie is giving her bath to Rubble and Zuma, who enjoy it very much. "I've always liked the bubble bath that Katie gives us! It's very relaxing! "Rubble just sits in his comfortable bathtub, while Katie smiles when applying a layer of flavored puppy shampoo.

"I agree Wubble ... nothing will be beaten by the baths that Katie gives us!" Zuma tries to relax and smile, but Katie realizes that the puppies look a little tense.

"Zuma, Rubble, they don't seem to be enjoying their baths ... didn't they like the Shampoo?" Katie knows that isn't the reason for the pups' thoughts, but she wants to help them, so with that question, she tries to tell the puppies the reason.

"What happened Katie, is that Gabriel's birthday party isn't far away ... and we still don't know what to give Gabriel as a birthday present." Rubble's look is somewhat pleading.

"We really have no idea what to give him ... could you give us any suggestions?" Zuma doesn't hesitate to ask Katie for help, as she removes the two pups from their bathtubs, and she begins to dry them, she begins to think about a possible solution, and she remembers some things that her mother came to tell her, so while she leaves her friends wrapped with their towels. "Katie ... what are you doing?"

Katie just smiles at Zuma, as she searches on a shelf with books ... "Here it is! My mother's medical logbook!" The pups seem confused, but Katie immediately dispels the doubts of both of them. "Zuma, Rubble, what happened is that some time ago, when he was little, Gabriel trained Pup Fu privately."

"Yes ... we know that he told us recently." Rubble responds excitedly as he remembers that night on the farm.

"Yeah ... Next time ... I'll beat him!" Zuma is especially determined to once again have a friendly fight with Gabriel. "Gabriel doesn't know ... but Sensei Yumi has something special ready for him!"

Katie just laughs at seeing Zuma's emotion, however, Rubble seems a bit confused yet. "But what's the use of knowing that Katie?"

"Look pups, I have here the address of the Dojo where Gabriel went to train. According to the notes of my mother, Gabriel usually trained at home, but there were special occasions in which he trained in that Dojo, occasions like days of his evaluations." As she reads the book, Katie's expression changes slightly, and the pups notice it.

"Katie ... did something happen?" Zuma can't help but ask the question.

"Pups, what happens is that I am reading that when those evaluations happened, my mother had to attend to Gabriel because of extreme exhaustion, apparently, the training was exhausting ... but my mother's notes don't indicate why." Katie closed the binnacle ... sighing. "My idea is to go to that Dojo, could it be that we find something there that could serve as a gift, or at least, we could get an idea."

Rubble and Zuma looked at each other and both agreed, the two pups put on their collars, their uniforms, and their Pup Packs, and in the company of Katie, they go to the old Dojo, with the intention of achieving a great gift for their friend .

Foggy Bottom

The day continues to advance, it is more than half a day, and in the main park of the city, the Air Patroller lands, descending from it are its passengers. "This is Foggy Bottom? Really ... this place lives up to its name ... " Margareth is really surprised to see how misty the whole place is.

"It is because of this haze that Mayor Humdinger has often been hiding ... AAA ... AAAAAA ... AAAAAACHOO!" Chase can't complete his comment because suddenly he starts to sneeze constantly. Margareth approaches and tries to give him a syrup to control the sneezes, but even so, the police pup continues to sneeze.

"Oh no! If Chase is sneezing that way ... chances are ... " Marshall turns to look to his left and sees approaching Mayor Humdinger's kittens.

"Ryder ... I didn't expect this visit ... Do you think I've done something wrong? Since the Mayor's race, I haven't done anything ... I just plan on giving Mayor Goodway her next Christmas present ... which by the way is going to be better than the one she's going to give me! "

Ryder just chuckles to see how competitive Mayor Humdinger is ... Chase and Marshall just smile, because they both already know what Mayor Humdinger is like. Margareth on the other hand just looks seriously at the Mayor. "Well, Ryder ... I'm still waiting for your answer ..."

"Ahem ... Ok ... Mayor, what happens is that ..." Ryder begins to tell Mayor Humdinger about Gabriel's arrival at the Paw Patrol, as the pup joined them. Ryder tells him what Gabriel has suffered, and also tells him how they are preparing a special birthday party for him but now Ryder wishes to give him a special gift, and a part of that gift is in Foggy Bottom, the first of the series of three books 'The World Best Inventions'.

"So you want to give that book to that new pup? Just to make him feel good?" Mayor Humdinger's question seems inquisitive ... but it's straightforward.

"Yes Mayor ... maybe you could help us get it ... the book is expensive, but if you help us ... I promise that myself and the pups will do community work in Foggy Bottom ... until it can be considered paid by the owner of that book.

Mayor Humdinger begins to think while his right hand strokes his mustache, suddenly, he looks at his police kitten. "Bring him here immediately ..." Everyone seems confused, but what happens next, surprises them more. The police kitten brings along with the ecologist kitten a heavy and huge book, and when they put it on the ground, Ryder is amazed to read the title. "The World's Best Inventions, Volume 1."

Mayor Humdinger smiles when he sees the expression of the Paw Patrol ... "He has us in his hands ..." Chase can't help saying that ... Now if they wish to take that book away, they will have to comply with what the Mayor asks of them.

Ryder just sighs ... and looks intensely at the book, so finally the young leader of the Paw Patrol can finally articulate his words. "Very good Mayor Humdinger ... what do you want in exchange for the Book?"

The pups just sit next to their leader, waiting for any absurd order that Mayor Humdinger can give them ... Chase begins to imagine that the Mayor could ask him not to watch the next race of Mayors ... Marshall swallows to imagine that he will have to be defeated in a Pup Fu match for the mayor's kittens to graduate ... Margareth only sighs at the thought that she might have to stay for a while in the service of Mayor Humdinger.

"Very good Ryder ... what I want in exchange for the book is ..." Ryder only clenches his fists, while the three pups just close their eyes waiting for whatever they are going to hear. "Nothing!"

Ryder and the pups open their mouths and eyes intensely, surprised by the word they have just heard. "Excuse me, Mayor ... What did you say?"

Mayor Humdinger only smiles, while taking the Book, and places it in Ryder's hands. "I said I don't want anything ..."

The members of the Paw Patrol can't stop looking at each other, and in fact ... Ryder can't help but ask that question that is around in his mind ... "But ... but ... but why?"

"Ryder ... I'm not a monster without a heart ... I don't need this huge book ... so, you can give it to that new fleabane!" Ryder and the pups smile gratefully. "But don't confuse me Ryder ... At the next firefighter competition ... I want Marshall to train my fireman kitten! So, when the competition is ... my kitten will beat Marshall fair and square."

The pups and Ryder only smile when they see the competitive Mayor they know. "Count on it, Mayor!" Ryder and the pups run to the Air Patroller, and they board quickly, happy because the first part of their mission was successfully fulfilled. "Next stop ... Barkingburg!" Immediately, the Air Patroller takes off, transforms into its Mission Paw mode, and quickly, goes to its next destination.

Marshall, however, is very excited to get to Barkingburg, and Chase notices his best friend's sudden excitement. Sure Marshall showed excitement going to Barkingburg, but now that they were actually going, he was even more excited

Meanwhile in Adventure City Spyro and Matthias just arrived by train. "Adventure City, a nice little city just like Aventure, it nice to be in a good place for once," Spyro tells Matthias with a smile.

"Don't forget why we are here," Matthias tells him with Professionalism. "Wow, you may be Marshall's brother but you are nothing like him," Spyro said. "Someone got to learn the harsh truth of the world, if Marshall wants to live carefree then I have to pick up the slack and make sure he can," Matthias tells him with a sigh.

"I respect that, now to the police station," Spyro said with excitement. "There is still one problem, I do not think the police will like us snooping around in their cases," Matthias said. "Oh that, I got that covered, I am government offices," Spyro said with a smile.

"How the hell did you do that?" Matthias asked. "When you are the most powerful being, the government tends to want that power," Spyro tells him. "You actually want to work with them, they just want what's best for them," Matthias tells him with a disapproving look.

"Relax, I work independently, I do jobs that help people, I don't go around starting wars for them," Spyro said. "I could never forgive myself for starting a war, one that I know I would win, innocent people die fighting for that," Spyro said with a more sorrowful look.

"Let's just get going, best not waste too much time," Spyro said, Matthias nodded and they went off to the police station. When they walked in there were five different officers around. "Can help you?" One of the officers asked.

Spyro pulls out some papers. "I need access to your crime and missing person database," Spyro said. The man picked up the papers and at the seal. "Who the hell are you?" He asked. "My name is irrelevant but you can call me Violet Dragazer," Spyro said with a smile.

The man just sighs. "Just don't mess anything up," The man said and led us to a room with a computer. The man proceeded to unlock the computer. "You have full access to our database, don't do anything stupid," the man warns us.

"Okay thanks," Spyro says and the man walks off. Spyro hops on it and looks up Nate, there were no results under missing people or crime. "How is that even possible," Spyro said. "A cover-up, try under the date he went missing and the hotel," Matthias tells him.

Spyro did what he said and found out that there was a fire at the hotel on the date he went missing. "A fire? Wouldn't that mean he would be dead, not missing," Spyro said confused. The fire said it was caused by a kitchen oven "See what the casualties were," Matthias says.

Spyro looked at the casualties and didn't see Nate but there were 11 dead, 47 injured. One name stood out to Matthias. "Scroll up," Matthias said and Spyro scrolled up. The name was Cookie Yellowstone.

"Weird name but that is all I see here," Spyro said confused. "I thought the time matched up too perfectly, look at the last name, don't you recognize it," Matthias said with a sad look on his face.

Spyro took a second look at the last name. "Wait, is that Hunter's last name?" Spyro asked. "It is, that is his wife, or at least was," Matthias said and whined. Spyro looked at it again and found out that she was deceased but how, it said unknown.

"Unknown, that is strange? Hey officer, can I have some help," Spyro yelled and the officer from earlier came back. "What do you need?" The office said in an irritated voice. "Sorry but I want to know why it is marked unknown," Spyro said and the officer looked at it.

"Normally it means it still needs to go through the system but this case is three years old, it makes no sense, if you want an answer you will have to go to our morgue," The man says.

The man starts to write down something on a piece of paper on the desk. "Sorry about this but it makes no sense, here take this, it is the location of the morgue," The officer told us and handed us the note."Well, I think we have our work cut out for us," Spyro said with a smile.
