Chapter 6: Mistletoes And Presents, Part Two

Sometime before Ryder left

Gabriel was wandering around the Lookout pretty bored. 'Everyone has been avoiding me all day, all I wanted was to hang out with them," Gabriel thought and mentally whined. "I might as well make myself useful," Gabriel said and headed into the Lookout basement.

They were tools and parts all around the basement, was there a workshop for building new stuff for the team. Gabriel dived straight in, not knowing what he wanted to make.

He just started to put pieces together not knowing what he might make. He kept putting pieces together for a few hours when Ryder and Rocky walked down to see Gabriel hard at work.

They weren't ready for what they saw. It was a mechanical arm with three ball joints so it could move freely. Gabriel was able to control a device on his paw. When he moved his paw so did the robotic arm.

"Gabriel, what is this? This is amazing!" Rocky said impressed. "Yeah, this is nothing like our pup packs arms," Ryder said seeing the differences. "Oh this, I was just fiddling with some parts, nothing major," Gabriel said pushing their compliments aside, not knowing just how impressive it was.

"No Gabriel, this is, I didn't even know anyone could do something like this!" Ryder said amazed and started to look at how he made it. "It really is nothing, I probably could have made it ten times better if I was trying to," Gabriel said.

Rocky was amazed but jealous at the same time. Rocky and Ryder were always the ones to make inventions. He was happy for him but he couldn't shake the feeling and left.

Meanwhile in Adventure Bay Dojo

Zuma, Rubble, and Katie enter the building where Gabriel used to train his pup-fu skills. Despite the place being meant for dogs, there were only 5 other pups training, and their Sensei was a Doberman. The trio didn't pay much attention to it and just continued on with their little "mission". While the trio was looking around, Rubble saw a glass case that had a katana, bo staff, sticks, and more in it. Rubble thought nothing of it until he remembered that Gabriel was starting to train with a BO staff, but used a PVC pipe as the BO staff, and while in thought, he saw a cool-looking BO staff that was put on display.

"Hey, Zuma!" Rubble called out, getting the owner of the name's attention "Do you think Gabriel would like to have that bo staff? I mean, look at it!" Zuma glanced at the bo staff that Rubble was looking at. The bo staff had a leather grip on the center, a red and brown color scheme, and some symbols that neither pup could understand.

"Yeah, dude! I mean, he's leawning how to use the bo staff, so you should get him this!" Zuma said, complementing Rubble "How much is it?" Zuma said looking at the tag on the Bo Staff.

"$90?! Jeez, that's a lot of money!" Rubble exclaimed, surprised at the price. Zuma then picked up the Bo Staff and did some moves with it

"I mean, it makes sense. As I'm testing it, it's light but not too light, stwong and stuwdy, and the design is also cool" Zuma said, putting the Bo Staff back where it was.

"I guess, but is it worth $90? I know it's for Gabriel, but that's pretty much all my money!" Rubble said, contemplating whether it's worth it or not.

"You decide Wubble," Zuma said as he placed his paw on Rubble's shoulder "I'm going to see if thewe's anything hewe I want to get Gabriel," Zuma said as he walked off in a different direction. Zuma took a glance back and saw Rubble just staring at the Bo Staff with his paw on his chin.

While looking around, Zuma decided to take a quick watch at the other pups that were training, and they were training with these boards. The pups were breaking the boards, but they were able to be put back together. Zuma, now intrigued, paid attention to the boards, as he saw, they could be put back together, but they had different colors on them. From the looks of it, the pups were all able to break the board that had a white pad on it, then the orange one. But soon when they got to the yellow padded board, only 3 could break it. The red padded board only 2 could only break. And the Black padded board only 1 could break. So each board got harder with each color that went up.

When the pups were done, they went to take a quick water break. As they left the room, Zuma went up to the Doberman that was teaching the pups.

"Excuse me siw?" Zuma said, hoping he didn't offend the Doberman

"Ah, hello. Can I help you young pup?" the Doberman asked

"Yes actually, I was wondering if you could tell me how much those twaining boawds wewe? My fwiend's biwthday is coming up and I thought this could be a nice gift fow him since he knows pup-fu" Zuma explained, getting a few chuckles from the Doberman

"Sorry, never heard a pup talk like that" The Doberman chuckled before looking at the boards his students were using "But the boards are in a set that costs $50, it comes with each of the boards you saw my students practicing with. You can buy them at the front desk." the Doberman said, pointing to where Zuma needed to go

"Thanks, what's youw name by the way?" Zuma asked

"Burst," the Doberman said, extending his paw in the process

"Zuma, thanks fow the help," Zuma said, finishing the paw shake. Zuma then started to make his way back to the front desk and saw that Rubble had the Bo Staff being put in a box. "You bought the Bo Staff Wubble?" Zuma asked

"Yeah, I did, after all, it's gonna be Gabriel's first birthday with us!" Rubble said, taking the box and waiting at the door for Zuma

"Excuse me, I wanted to buy those twaining boawds that those pups wewe using," Zuma said, looking at the dog, who was a pug, behind the desk

"No problem, let me just get them for ya real quick." The Pug then went to the back room and disappeared. Zuma heard things being moved around before he heard a thud. "Ahh motherf… sorry, your total is gonna be $51.34," The pug said

"Alwight, hewe you go, keep the change", Zuma said handing a $50 bill and 2 $1 bills. Zuma then began to walk with Rubble and Katie back to the Lookout.

In Barkingburg

The Air Patroller landed in the Mision PAW HQ. "Ah, Mission PAW HQ, I miss these missions," Chase said with a smile. "Never been but Marshall tells me this is one of his favorite places to be," Margareth said. "Remember pups, we are here for the Book, not to site-see," Ryder tells the pups.

"Aye, Ryder sir," Chase says. "Okay, talked to the Princess and she said she might know where to find it so let's get going pups," Ryder said and then they started making their way to the castle.

They walked into the huge castle and Margareth's jaw dropped. "This place, it is amazing, and this is where Sweetie lives," Margareth said surprised. "Yup, pretty cool right," Marshall said with a smile.

"Yeah, I don't even know what to say," Margareth tells him. "You will have more time to take in this place later, right now let's go meet the Princess," Ryder said as an old man walked up to him.

"Right this way Ryder, the Princess has been expecting you," said the earl. "Thanks, Earl," Ryder said and they followed the man. He led them into a room with a big table with the princess sitting at the end while Sweetie was next to her on the dog bed. You could see the excitement in her tail as it wagged at the unexpected visitors.

"Welcome Ryder and pups, nice to see you guys after some time," The princess said with a smile. "I am glad to be here Princess but about the book?" Ryder said. "Of course, the book you are looking for is at the library, you can bring them there, right Sweetie?" The Princess asked.

"Of course I can!" Sweetie said excitedly. "Okay then it is settled, Sweetie will lead you guys there, I hope that Gabriel will like the book," the Princess said with a smile. "He will love it, thanks for the help," Ryder tells her with a smile

"No problem, anytime," the Princess said with a smile. We leave the castle with smiles. "So where to Sweetie," Marshall asked with a smile. "This way, it is not too far from here," She said with a cheery voice.

They walk down the streets of Barkingburg with huge smiles. There were a few different little cute shops. "This place is amazing, nothing like Adventure Bay or Adventure City!" Margareth said while wagging her tail with excitement.

"Yeah, I guess but I prefer Adventure Bay," Chase sighed. We all knew why Chase was acting weird but we didn't say anything. "I love it here, it is just so different, a good kind of different," Marshall said with a small smile.

"Hey Sweetie, do know most of this place or just the library?" Margareth asked. "I know where almost everything is, it is all just so beautiful I just can't help myself to explore," she said with a smile.

"I hear you on that one, there is so much to explore in this world," Marshall said with a warm smile. "You never know what you might find," He said with a little bigger smile. Sweetie looked away from him.

"Anyway, it is right over here," Sweetie said and pointed at the library. Like the other shops, it was small but nice. "Well, what are we waiting for, let's go," Ryder said and walked in. There were about ten small bookshelves with a small reception desk.

"Hello Sweetie, what will it be today, Romance novels?" the young girl at the desk asked. Sweetie blushed at what she asked. "No, actually the Princess wanted me to bring them here on behalf of her, they are looking for the book.

"Oh right, but you can still pick one out if you want," She said. "Okay," she said trying to hide a blush. Margareth noticed it but the others were more focused on the book. "So you guys are the PAW Patrol right?" The girl asked.

"Yes, I am Ryder, I heard you had the book we are looking for," Ryder tells her with a smile. The girl pulls out a big book and puts it on the table. "Is this what you are looking for?" she said with a smile. He read the label, The World's Best Inventions Volum 3.

"Yes, this is what I am looking for," Ryder said with a smile. "Gabriel will love this, how much for it?" Ryder said. The girl just smiled. "The book has already been covered, the Princess wanted it to be a surprise, I hope that pup has a great birthday by the way," she tells him.

Ruder didn't know what to say. "T-thank you," Ryder said with a smile. "Don't thank me, thank the princess but you go give that pup the best birthday ever," She tells us with a grin. "We will," Ryder said and they left.

"I Didn't take you for a reader Sweetie," Margareth said with a smile. She blushed a bit. "Well, the castle can be a bit boring most of the time so books are a way to keep me entertained," she said with a small smile.

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense," Margareth said and shrugged. They make it back to Barkingburg HQ. "Well, this is it pup, make sure to give the Princess our regards Sweetie," Ryder said. "I will," she said and started walking off.

"Don't forget about Gabriel's party tomorrow, it would shame if you didn't show up," Marshall tells her. "I will, I am part of a team now, I can't be caught slacking," She said with a smile but Margareth noticed something small but important. Her cheeks were a light shade of red from Marshall's comment.

"Well, let's get going pup," Ryder said and we got into the Air Patroller. I slowly started to take off and flew away. Sweetie stood they for a few moments before taking off

Jake's Mountain

Everest was pacing back and forth, trying to figure out what to get Gabriel since his birthday was only in a few days. She didn't want it to be a simple present, she wanted it to be used a lot in Gabriel's future. "Dang it… why is it so hard trying to come up with a present!" Everest yelled loudly.

"You okay Eve?" Everest recognized the owner of the voice as her owner. "You're not the type to yell out in frustration" Jake reminded

"Yeah, I know… it's just Gabriel's birthday is coming up and I'm trying to think of gift ideas, but it's really hard," Everest admitted

"Why don't you get him something like a snowboard? After all, it's winter and it's the time where we get a lot of skiers and snowboarders" Jake said. "I also remember when you got Marshall a new snowboard on his birthday, he was ecstatic! And I think I remember you blushing when he nuzzled you"

"Jaaaaake!" Everest whined "I'm starting to regret telling you my crush on Marshall, but other than that last part you said, the snowboard idea does sound good! I'm going to get him a nice snowboard!" Everest said excitedly "Thanks for the help Jake" Everest said happily

"Anytime Eve, glad to help" As Jake was leaving the room, he stopped in his tracks when he heard Everest begin to talk

"Hey Jake… when you said Marshall nuzzled into me that day, what did you think when you saw him do it?" Everest asked

"Like am I uncomfortable by it?" Jake asked, to which he got a shaking head as his response "Well I thought it was cute, but are you asking me if I think Marshall has a crush on you?" he got a nod from his pup "I don't know Eve, I know this is a common answer, but you'll only know if you have to courage to ask him, or the other way around" Jake said back

"But… What if he rejects me?" Everest asked, before Jake could respond, she continued "I want to ask him… I really do, it's just I don't want to ruin us being just friends if he rejects me" Everest admitted

"Look Eve, there is a chance he will reject you" Everest's ears begin to flop "But, that doesn't mean he'll no longer be your friend, you two are best friends, maybe not as close as Skye, but you still are close to him, and your friendship is very strong with him. So if he does reject you, he'll still be your friend, but if he accepts, well great! There is no outcome where he is no longer your friend, just as long as you are able to accept he rejected you if he does" Jake finished with a smile

"Thanks, Jake, but I have two questions for you" Jake listened "How do I tell him? And what do you mean if I'm able to accept he rejected me if he does?" Everest asked

"To your first question, just be yourself and tell him. You don't need to make a letter and send it to him, or make a cheesy sign and tell him, just be yourself and tell him." Jake said smiling

"To your second, let's say Marshall likes Skye instead of you, if you can't accept that he wants to be with Skye instead of you, you will get jealous and maybe even try to ruin their relationship. Do I see you doing that? No of course not, but love can make people and pups do actions that they do in the moment and regret later down the line. So if he does reject you, as long as you can accept that, then your friendship with him is solid." Jake finished

"Thanks, Jake, I'll tell him how I feel soon, maybe after Gabriel's birthday," Everest said "Again, thanks Jake for the help"

"Anytime Eve, anytime. Now, need me to get you a snowboard for Gabriel's birthday? You can pick the snowboard if you want" Jake said

"Yeah, let's go Jake" Everest said, following Jake out the door while thinking about how Marshall felt about her.

Somewhere

Hunter walked into a store with a smile. It was a store for swords. There were all kinds of swords displayed behind glass, Katana, Tanto, Wakizashi, Odachis, Ninjato, Daggers, Shortswords, Longsword, Greatswords, Falchions, Sickles, Rapiers. There were even Maces, Flails, Warhammers, Nunchucks, Axes, Waraxes, Tomahawks, Kananbos, Bo staffs, Naginatas, Ninja Throwing Stars, Kama, Kusarigama, whips. Hunter was like a kid in a candy store. 'This place is amazing,' He thought with a big smile.

"You must be Hunter, I have been expecting you, come take a seat," a man from the desk said with a smile. Hunter walked over to him a took a seat in front of him. He handed me a short paper full of what they have here.

"Spyro told me you would be stopping by to pick up his order and look around, that book should show what we have and what we can make," The man said with a smile. I looked through it a bit to find a specific kind of sword.

The man pulled out two Odachis. "It isn't every day a man asks me to make an Odachi but for it to be by a Dragon is just amazing. I look at them with confusion. "Two Odachis? It is almost impossible to unsheath them but having two is unheard of," I say.

"I see you know your swords but he told me one isn't for him," He said and handed me one of them. I grabbed it to see the Sheath is white with black spots. Hunter smiled. "This is for me?" I asked. The man only giggled. "I don't see anyone else I could give it to you, Spyro wanted it to be a surprise," the man tells me.

I put the sword on the counter and pulled it out of the sheath. The blade was beautiful, sharp, and curved but the hilt was blood red. "This is amazing!" Hunter said with a huge smile.

"Japanese weapons are really in a class of their own," the man said with a smile. "I know, I wish I could I could have them all," I say with a small smile. "Well when you work with Team HOPE you tend to get some nice perks," The man said and handed him a card.

It said: "Merry Christmas early" with Spyro's signature on it. I opened it to see a gift card for the store he is at, it said: "Sorry I can't be here to give you it personally but with Antonio out on vacation I have my work cut out for me, PS the gift card has a five thousand dollar limit, Merry Christmas."

Hunter was in tears. "Spyro is a really good friend to have, so what do you want?" He asked with a smile. Hunter was still in tears but he was happy. "Can I order right now? He asked surprised.

"Of course, you can but you might not be leaving with them yet, the weapons I make are made in the shop so it takes a bit to get them ready," he tells him. Hunter looks through the paper looking for a specific kind of sword, A Kukri.

"Can you make a custom-made Kukri?" Hunter asked him. "Of course, what would you like it to look like?" he asks. Hunter hands him a piece of paper from his pocket. The man takes it and reads it.

"Weird order but I can do it, is it for a friend?" The man asked. "It is for someone very special," Hunter answered with a smile. "Okay, it should be ready by Christmas, anything else?" He asked.

"Can I get a Tanto, Wakizashi, and a Ninjato?" Hunter asked. "Yup, anything special?" The man asked. "Red Tsuks with a yellow tsuba," He answered. "Okay come back in a few days to pick this up," The man said with a smile.

"Okay, thanks for the help, uh," Hunter tried to say but did not know his name. "Zack, official swordsmith of Team HOPE, or you can call me Zoro," He said with a smile. "Thanks, Zoro," He said with a smile and left with both swords.

Hunter looks at the swords with a smile. 'Being with Team HOPE might have been the best decision I have ever made,' He thought to himself as he left.

Adventure Bay Jungle

"Gracias Carlos! I couldn't have done this myself" Tracker said to his owner as said owner was finishing up knitting a certain piece of cloth

"Of course Tracker, I know you can't knit with your paws"

"Yeah, kinda hard to do"

"I can understand why, besides this handmade scarf, what else are you gonna give Gabriel?" Carlos asked as he was rolling up the scarf

"Espera" Tracker then went behind a big rock, only to reappear 3 seconds later with something in his mouth. Tracker then motioned Carlos to take the object in his mouth, to which Carlos took the object that was made of paper "Esto Foto"

Carlos looked at what Tracker had in his mouth and it was a photo, containing all the members of Paw Patrol. Marshall, Chase, Skye, Rocky, Zuma, Rubble, Everest, Tracker, Marcus, Margareth, Gabriel, Wildcat, Rex, Liberty, Al, Coral, and more recently Sebastian and Sweetie. It also had Ryder, Jake, Carlos, and Dr. Turbot, just behind their respective pups.

"Does Gabriel not have a foto like this Tracker?" Carlos asked

"No, he doesn't have un foto con su familia, so I decided to give him one!" Tracker said happily

"That's nice of you to think Tracker, well, let's wrap these gifts up. You can stay the night at the Lookout if you want, I still need to do some things here."

"Okay Carlos, I'll stay the night"

After Carlos finished wrapping Tracker's gifts, he put them in Tracker's Jeep, and off Tracker went.

In Adventure City

Spyro and Matthias walked and pulled up to a big building in the city. We were riding a purple can, pretty normal for Spyro's standards "Well, this is it, let's hope we get some answers," Spyro said unsure. "I think I could use some answers, didn't think that memory would pop up here," Matthias said with a sigh.

We start to make our way in. "So did you know her?" Spyro asked Matthias. "Did I know her," He said in an irritated voice. "She was always around when Mom and Dad weren't home, she was like a second mom to me, Margareth, and Marshall," Matthias said.

"From I was told she died in that fire but now I am unsure," He said with a tear rolling down his cheek. "Marshall was too young to understand what happened and why Hunter drifted away, He never knew what happened, he has asked me a few times if they hated him," Matthias said with tears now streaming down his cheek.

"I couldn't bring myself to tell him the truth, I was so weak, and now he still acts like a pup and honestly I don't want that to change," He fished with a smile with tears still coming down.

"I hear his innocence has brought people happiness, I am happy for him but he can't avoid the truth forever, no matter how I try to shield him," He finishes with a sigh. Spyro had no emotion on his face, not that you could see it anyway with his hood.

"You're right, no matter what he does he will face the truth one way or another, but I don't plan on him being unprepared and I am sure Hunter thinks the same," Spyro said. "I understand why Hunter is interested in Marshall but why you, you don't even know him?" Matthias asked curious.

"Nika." that was the only thing Spyro said as they walked into the building. They walked and saw a desk. "Hello, this is the morgue right?" Spyro asked. The girl at the desk looked up confused.

"And why the hell does that matter to you," She asked annoyed. Spyro pulled out his papers. "The autopsy report of Cookie and to know why it was marked unknown," Spyro said in a serious tone.

The woman just sighed. "I always get the weird one," the woman muttered. "I need more information than just a name," she said. "The fire that happened three years ago at the hotel," Spyro said.

The woman sighed and typed something into her computer. She hit something and the printer infront of her started to run. She grabs the paper that was just printed. "Here is the autopsy report," she said and handed it to Spyro.

Spyro grabs it and sits on one of the couches in the room so Matthias can see it too. There was a lot of technical stuff on it but Spyro started simplifying it. "Three gunshot wounds, all bullets recovered, burns, sighs of struggle, this is no accident, this was murder," Spyro said.

"That makes no sense, she died in the fire," Matthias said flabbergasted. "It would make no sense if the fire was an accident like they claimed, she died trying to do something," Spyro said with his hand to his chin.

"What are you saying?" Matthias asked confused. "I am saying that she was getting in someone's way, maybe the person that started the fire," Spyro said. "But why would they start the fire?" Matthias said.

"Because they needed something that was there, maybe someone like Nate, there are no records of him in the police station, it is almost like this is being covered up," Spyro said. "What would they want with him?" Matthias asked with confusion.

"Records, he knew who I was and the prophecy behind Gabriel, a perfect person to be kidnapped and get the information from, and I think I know who is behind this," Spyro said with a confident grin.

"Who?" Matthias asked. "I don't have a name but a face, not enough to go on but he is the same man who went after Gabriel," Spyro said with a sigh. "That is only a theory but I have strong suspicion," Spyro said.

"So what now?" Matthias asked. "Closure," Spyro said and looked at the paper to see something. "A ring was recovered and it was used as evidence, Hunter deserves that ring," Spyro said with a determined look.

"Where can I get this ring?" Spyro asked the woman. "I can't just give you evidence," she said annoyed but Spyro was more annoyed. "I wasn't asking, that ring belongs to Hunter," Spyro said, letting some of his anger start to show.

They could see the fear in the girl's eyes. "Hold on," She said and ran into a room. She came back with a plastic bag with a white ring inside it. "Please just take it and leave," She said in fear.

Spyro took it. "See ya," Spyro said with his anger slightly showing. They left the building in uncomfortable silence. "You know there were other ways of getting the ring," Matthias said and sighed.

"She wouldn't have given it to me if I played by the rules, you said it best yourself, this world is rough," Spyro said with a sigh. "For both our sakes, don't do that again," Mattias said. "I wish it was that simple, but if I want to protect the people close to me then I have to," Spyro tells him and Matthias could see a tear fall to the ground.

"Let this be a lesson, the world is tough when you follow the rule indefinitely, but when you break a few, you can truly project the ones that are close to you," Spyro tells him with a smile. Matthias smile. "Thanks for the lesson, I will remember that one," Mattias said with a smile.

In Dino Wilds

Rex was just wandering around Dino Wilds, thinking of gift ideas for Gabriel. While Rex didn't really know that much about Gabrieel, he still wanted to get him something meaningful. While walking around, he saw something on the ground. He thought it was a rock, but it was colorful, and it was smooth looking.

Climbing up the hill was a bit difficult to do since he had to use his wheels to get around, and going uphill against gravity was a bit of a workout, but he made it eventually.

When Rex was close enough to the object he thought was a rock, he saw that it really was a dinosaur scale.

"Huh, wonder what type it is, I'm gonna ask Dr. Turbot," Rex said to no one but himself, and picked up the scale with his teeth and made his way back. On his way back, he passes some Brontosaurus, Raptors, Triceratops, Pterodactyls, and more, making him stop every now and then to just watch them do their thing.

After about 2 hours of just watching the dinosaurs, logic came back to Rex as he continued his way back home. Once he arrived, he immediately began to search for Dr. Turbot, it only took him about 5 minutes to find her.

"Hey Rex, where were you for the past 2 hours?" Dr. Turbot asked

"I was taking a walk, thinking about what to give Gabriel for his birthday"

"Gabriel? Is he the mechanic pup for Paw Patrol?" Dr. Turbot asked

"Yes, but while walking, I found this scale and I don't know where the scale came from. I know from one of the dinosaurs, but that's about it" Rex said

"You want to give this to him?"

"Yes, will that be okay?"

"Yes it will, just let me scan it and I'll be able to tell you what type of dinosaur scale this is, it'll take a long time, so do something to pass the time"

Rex gave her a nod and proceeded to make his way back outside and sat underneath a tree, or tried to at least since his wheels make it a bit harder to do. As he sat watching the dinosaurs, he got a bit tired, and somehow managed to fall asleep with his wheels on.

In adventure City

Liberty and Coral were wandering around the city. "Man, I have never seen a city," Coral said in aw. "The city ain't anything special, but we are looking for a gift for Gabriel, remember that," Liberty tells her.

"I know, I know, but we can still have fun right?" Coral asked with a smile. "Yes, can have a little fun," Liberty said giving in. "Yeah, now let's go find Gabriel a gift," She said raising her paw in the air. Liberty did the same with a smile. "Now let's gooo," She said and they ran off.

They went through many stores, looking for the right present but they didn't seem to have much luck. After around two hours and stopped at a collectable store. They walked in with big smiles. There were many different collectibles like games, figures, art, and toys.

But what caught their attention was that they had PAW Patrol figures. "Oh my god! They have us!" Liberty said with a smile. "They even have me!" Coral said with a big smile. "I see you like the Paw Patrol figures," a man at the desk said.

"Of course we would, they are us," Liberty said with a smile. "How much would it cost for the whole set?" Liberty asked. The man pulled a box with every member in it. "It would cost 200 dollars but because you guys have saved the city so many times how about half price," The man said with a smile.

Liberty though for a second. "These figures are quite expensive but I think Gabriel would love these, what do you think Coral?" Liberty asked her. "I think he would love them," she said with a growing smile. "Okay then it looks like you have a deal," Liberty tells him with a smile.

Somewhere on the highway near Adventure Bay

Al was driving down the high with a smile. "Now where could I go to get Gabriel a gift," Al said to himself, he saw a small gas station on the side of the highway. "Maybe I can find something there," He said and pulled up to it.

He jumped out of his truck and walked in with a smile. It was like most gas stations, snacks, drinks, cards, food, and a few little trinkets. "What can I do you for today Al," the man at the desk said. Al has stopped here enough times for people working here to know him by name.

"Well, I am looking for a gift for my friend, Gabriel's birthday, and I don't know what to get," Al said with a sigh. "Well this isn't exactly the place to shop for stuff like that but I think you can find something here," he said.

"Well thanks anyway," Al said but he saw something that caught his eye, a Newton's Cradle. "That could work," Al said and picked it up and put it on the counter to checkout.

Somewhere outside of Adventure Bay

A motorcycle stopped by a nearby tree and a cat jumped out of the bike. A tabby cat placed their helmet on the bike's seat and sat down to rest.

"What to get, what to get," Wild Cat said to himself "I don't have any money, so I can't buy him anything, but I also don't want to give him a rock or something," Wildcat was just sitting till an idea entered his head "Hey, what if I get him a motorcycle? Sure he probably has one for missions, but one to just drive around town for fun? Now that I think about it, I remember seeing an abandoned bike somewhere here, maybe I can get Rocky to fix it up! I probably should ask Gabriel since he's the mechanic, but it's his gift so, Rocky it is!"

Wild Cat hopped back onto his motorcycle and drove off in the rough direction of where the abandoned bike was supposedly located. He drove into the desert and heard chanting, a set of chanting he really hated.

"Ruff-Ruff Pack! Ruff-Ruff Pack! Ruff-Ruff Pack!"

The chanting was confirmed when he saw a certain trio of pups he really didn't want to see, so he tried to take a detour away from them. Unfortunately, they saw him and decided to annoy him.

"Well looky here! It's Wildcat!" A Siberian husky said

"Yeah, it's our rival!" A great Dane said

"What should we do with him?" A french bulldog said

"I really don't want to deal with you three right now, leave me be," Wild Cat said trying to drive away, only to be blocked by the pack.

"What are you going to do about it?" Gasket said to Wild Cat mocking his voice

Wild Cat knew he couldn't talk about the abandoned bike. Sure they probably won't care, but once they realize it's for a friend, they might try to take it. "Screw this" Wildcat then throttled his bike and began to drive away from the Ruff-Ruff Pack, but they only started to follow him

"Where do you think you're going Wild Cat?!" Hub-cap yelled out

"What's it look like? Away from you three trash-looking dogs!" Wild Cat yelled back, to which he regretted saying

"Oh, now you're wheely gonna get it!" Gasket yelled to the cat

"These dogs, they should already know they won't catch me," Wild Cat thought to himself as he made himself go faster.

At the Lookout

The Airpatroller just landed, and the pups and Ryder had their gifts for Gabriel, who wasn't at the Lookout thankfully.

Chase looked at the gift he got for Gabriel, the Mechanic's hat. "Simple, but his main uniform doesn't have a hat, and it also looks cool," Chase said, making his way back inside the Lookout to find a box that was big enough to fit the hat in, and he placed the hat in the box. After wrapping his gift, he decided to see what everyone else was doing, and he saw Rubble and Zuma having trouble wrapping their presents, so he decided to make his way over to help them.

"Need some help?" Chase asked, getting the two's attention

"Yes please" Rubble replied, handing Chase the wrapping paper. After about a minute Chase was done helping Rubble and started to help Zuma, finishing in a minute too.

"Well since I'm here, what did you two get Gabriel?" Chase asked

"I got Gabriel a really cool-looking Bo Staff since he is learning how to use it!" Rubble said happily

"I got him these boawrds that awe meant to be bwoken, but they can be put back togethew, each boawd being stwongew than the last" Zuma said "What about you Chase?"

"Mine's simple, but I got him a Mechanic Hat since his main uniform doesn't have it, and it also looks pretty cool." Chase said, noticing that Ryder wasn't anywhere "Did you two see where Ryder went by any chance?" Chase asked, looking around him

"I saw him get in his ATV and drive into town, what was Ryder getting Gabriel?" Rubble asked

"He's getting him these books of The World's Best Inventions or something like that, and there're three of them in this collection, and Ryder must be getting the final book that he needs" Chase answered, turning his attention towards town. Soon, he saw some familiar faces drive to the Lookout in a Jeep and Snowcat

"Hey, Tracker and Everest!" Chase, Rubble, and Zuma yell out

"¡Hola amigos!" Tracker said

"Hey, pups!" Everest said

"You can put your gifts for Gabriel inside the Lookouts living room for now, and come help us get Gabriel's party decorations ready"

The two pups nodded and went inside the Lookout, putting their gifts inside before coming back to Chase waiting for their jobs.

Meanwhile at Adventure Bay Town Hall

Ryder had just parked his ATV in front of the Town Hall and started to make his way inside, hoping that he could get the final book that Gabriel wanted. He opened the doors and made his way inside, trying to find a certain person with whom he needed help. He walked for a bit before finding her.

"Ryder! How are you today?" Mayor Goodway asked in a cheery way.

"I'm good Mayor. I need some help from you" Ryder said.

"Help? That's certainly a surprise, well what is it?" Mayor Goodway asked.

"One of my pups, Gabriel, wants a book called 'The World's Best Inventions', but they are too expensive for him or me to buy. I already got the other two books, but I need the final book, and it says that Adventure Bay has it, I think you can see what I'm asking here" Ryder finished.

"You need me to find the book for you, yeah I can do that. I won't ask you to pay since your work for our town is enough already." Mayor Goodway said, giving a warm smile to Ryder "Give me a minute, I need to call up a friend" and the Mayor went to her office.

Ryder just sat on a nearby chair waiting for the Mayor to be finished. After about 30 minutes of waiting, someone walked through the doors of the Town Hall.

"Hello, I'm looking for Mayor Goodway, is this her office?" The tall man asked.

"Yes, let me get her for you" Ryder then knocked on the door before opening it, letting the Mayor know his presence. "Someone's looking for you Mayor," Ryder said.

"Come in! You too Ryder" Mayor Goodway said, motioning him to sit down in her office. Ryder sat down on a chair and the tall man handed her the box "Thanks" Mayor Goodway said to the tall man.

"No problem" and then he left. Ryder turned his attention to the Mayor as she opened the box up.

"This what you're looking for Ryder?" Mayor Goodway asked before handing Ryder a big book. Ryder looked at the title of the book and it said "The World's Best Inventions, Volume 1"

"Yes Mayor, this is what I need. Mind if I take it?" Ryder asked

"Yes go ahead, as long as Gabriel appreciates it," Mayor Goodway said

"Oh, he will, trust me," Ryder replied before making his way back to his ATV.

Back with Rex

Rex was just having a nice dream until it ended when he was startled awake. Groaning, he opened his eyes only to see that he was going towards the Dino Wilds Vet, but he wasn't moving himself. He began to get worried because of the fact that he was raised into the air a bit, and couldn't feel his wheels on him, making him unable to move his lower body at all. Instinctively, he tried to squirm his way out of his captor's grasp, until said captor began to talk

"Whoa Rex, calm down, it's just me" Rex calmed down and stopped squirming after hearing the voice belonging to Dr. Turbot

"Sorry, Dr. Turbot, I got scared for a bit"

"It's okay Rex, no harm done"

Rex glanced to the left and saw that Dr. Turbot had his wheels in her other hand "Why did you take off my wheels? Couldn't you just carry me with me still in my wheels?"

"I could've, but when I saw you napping, I didn't want to take your wheels off and take your wheels back home, then yourself, so I just did what I'm doing now. And it's just easier for me to carry your wheels in one hand with you in the other."

"Is the scale finished being scanned yet Dr. Turbot?"

"When I left to find you, it wasn't finished but close. Maybe when we get back, it'll be done scanning"

Rex said nothing else and just let Dr. Turbot carry him the rest of the way home. Once they got inside, Dr. Turbot placed Rex's wheels on the floor and then put Rex inside his wheels.

"Let's go see if the scale is done being scanned Rex," the pup and Dr. Turbot made their way toward a small lab. Rex saw the scale that he found in this little capsule having this holographic-looking net going up and down on the scale. "Aaaaand done!" Rex immediately took his gaze off the scale and looked up towards Dr. Turbot. "It says the scale is a Tyrannosaurus Rex scale Rex! Your friend is gonna have a really cool gift!"

"Yeah, Gabriel will really like the scale, mind calling Ryder to pick me up? I'm gonna stay the night to help set up the party"

"Yeah no problem, let me call up Ryder" Dr. Turbot then pulled out her phone and began calling Ryder

Back with Wild Cat

Wild Cat, while being better than the Ruff-Ruff Pack, surprisingly saw that the Ruff-Ruff Pack was catching up to him. Knowing that these pups wouldn't leave him alone anytime soon, he decided to mess with them a bit. "So your inventions are NOW working Gasket? I'm surprised!"

"You mean MY inventions, it's my idea!" Hub-cap yelled back

"*groan* They always work Wild Cat!" Gasket yelled back, showing her teeth

"Yeah right! I'll admit, they always work at first, but soon they fail! Just like you're gonna fail to catch me!" Wildcat then activated his Super Speed Boosters and went from 80 to 150 in 5 seconds. "That should do it, now to get the- you gotta be kidding me!" Wild Cat looked back and saw that Gasket was still on his tail, one of her inventions hadn't failed yet!

"When I said you're in wheel trouble, I meant it Wild Cat" Gasket yelled, anger in her voice.

"Well then, might as well have some fun Gasket! See if you can still chase me!" Wild Cat yelled back to her, making his way toward a rocky valley. He took a glance at Gasket and saw she was slowing down. "Still want to keep chasing me Gasket?!"

"I'm better than you Wild Cat! I'm not giving up!" Gasket yelled back, going faster

"If that's true, then you should have no problem following me into the rocky valley!"

Wild Cat started to drive between the rock towers, drove through narrow spaces, and did some stunts just for the fun of it. During all this, Wild Cat would occasionally glance back to see how Gasket was doing. As much as he hated the Ruff-Ruff Pack, he didn't hate them enough for them to get injured. Whenever he glanced back, Gasket was either getting closer or further to Wild Cat. Deciding to end this little chase, Wild Cat started driving toward the cavern and saw a rock that coincidentally had the shape of a ramp by the edge.

Wild Cat drove onto the ramp and activated his Super Speed Boosters while in the air, giving him the final push that he needed to get to the other side of the cavern. One Wild Cat landed, he looked across the cavern and saw Gasket off her bike, glaring at Wild Cat

"What? Too scared Gasket?"

Gasket growled before responding to Wild Cat "You're wheely lucky Wildcat! My thruster stopped working"

"Told you would fail to catch me! Just like your inventions!"

"Why you little!"

"Bye!" and Wild Cat throttled his bike and left Gasket behind. "Finally, now where is that bi-" Wild Cat stopped his sentence when he saw the bike coincidentally right beside him. "Huh, well time to tow the bike to the Lookout." Wild Cat then activated his bike's yarn launcher used the yarn to tie the bike, and began to drive towards the Lookout.

At the Lookout

Ryder just pulled into the driveway with the final book he needed for Gabriel's present and saw that everyone who was invited to the party was also there. He saw Chase ordering the pups (excluding Wildcat, Rex, Liberty, Coral, and Al) to get the decorations ready to set up for the next day. Soon, his pup-pad began ringing, and accepted the call, seeing Dr. Turbot on the other end.

"Hey Dr. Turbot, need anything?"

"Kinda Ryder, mind picking up Rex? He's gonna stay the night and help set up the party for Gabriel tomorrow, he also has his gift ready."

"Yeah, I'll be right there." Ryder then hung up the call and gathered the pups "Hey pups, I know I just got back, but I need to pick up Rex from the Dino Wilds. Tracker, since you can hear the best out of all the pups, keep watch and warn the other pups if Gabriel is coming back to the Lookout, he should be almost finished fixing the flounder's engine."

"Okay Ryder, I'll keep guard," Tracker said, making his way toward the bridge.

"The rest of you, keep getting the decorations ready, Mr. Porter will worry about the cake. I'll be back soon" Ryder said as he made his way to the Dino Patroller.

"Bye Ryder!" All the pups yell out

"Alright, let's get back to work pups!" Chase said, making the pups go back to their jobs. But before the pups could get back to work, they heard the sound of an engine pulling up, a familiar engine. "Hey Wil-AACHO! *sniff* Wild Cat's here!"

The tabby cat then parked his bike to the side of the driveway and took his helmet off, placing it on the seat "Hey pups!"

"Hi, Wildcat!" All the pups said, greeting the cat

"Nice to see you show up," Marcus said

"Well Gabriel's a friend, of course, I would come for his birthday! Speaking of which, Rocky, could you help me repair this old motorcycle?"

"Why do you even have this Wild Cat?" Rocky asked

"I don't have any money, so I couldn't buy Gabriel something, but I did remember seeing a motorcycle that wasn't that badly damaged, so I thought you could repair it for Gabriel as his present" Wild Cat concluded

"Why are you asking me?" Rocky said

"Well I would've asked Ryder or Gabriel to help, but this is Gabriel's gift, and Ryder left the Lookout to go… somewhere. So you're the next option."

"Okay fair, take it into the garage, there I'll fix it up."

"Clawsome! I'll take it there" Wild Cat then jumped back onto his bike, put on his helmet, and took the bike to the garage, where Rocky was waiting for him ready to start fixing it up.

Right after Liberty, Coral, and Al show up. "Hey guys," Chase said with a smile. "Hey Pups," Liberty said and jumped off her bike with Coral. "Glad you could make it," Zuma said with a smile.

"Yeah, we are glad to be here," Al said and hopped out of his truck. "Come over here, this is where we are putting the presents," Marshall tells them and they all followed him.

Meanwhile at the Flounder

"There you go Captain Turbot," Gabriel said while wiping his forehead with his paw "Your engine should be all fixed up, turn it on"

"You got it!" Captain Turbot then went to the Captain's Deck and started up the engine, only to hear it run amazingly "It works! Thanks, Gabriel" Captain Turbot said while scratching Gabriel behind the ear.

"No problem Captain Turbot, not only did I repair your engine, but I also saw some other parts down there that were damaged, so I also fixed them up. The Flounder should be able to run much more smoothly than normal."

"Again, thanks, Gabriel. And Ryder's right, you really do take your job to heart"

"Well, that's just who I am, but anyways, I need to get back home, so I'll see you later Captain Turbot"

"Bye, Gabriel!"

Gabriel then made his way back to the Lookout, getting a few waves from citizens of Adventure Bay along the way. While walking on the bridge, he began to think out loud. "Wonder if the pups know my birthday is tomorrow, but I doubt they know. They've been acting strange towards me lately, what a birthday week I had" Gabriel said out loud with sadness in his voice, little did he know, a certain Chihuahua heard what he said.

Tracker immediately began to run back to the other pups to inform them that Gabriel was coming back. "¡Amigos!" Tracker got everyone's attention "Gabriel is almost here!"

Chase immediately got up "Alright everyone, you heard Tracker, get everything packed up and hide them inside Ryder's room, and hurry!" Chase got the barks from everyone and helped them out with putting the decorations in Ryder's room for now. "Tracker, use the periscope to keep watching Gabriel, let us know when we are running out of time"

"¡Si senor!" Tracker then went to the center of the second floor of the Lookout and looked through the periscope

About 2 minutes passed before somepup began to speak "How close is he, Tracker?" Chase asked as he was leaving Ryder's room

"He's on the driveway! We got about 30 seconds left before he arrives" Tracker said before leaving the periscope to help everyone else put the decorations away. "¡Apúrate! Gabriel's almost here!"

Marshall came running in with the final item that needed to be hidden from Gabriel, one of his presents. "I got the last thi-WOAH!" Marshall tripped on a chew toy, making the present fly across the room.

"I got it!" Everest said, catching the present

"Nice catch Everest!" Marshall said, making Everest blush "Now hurry and take it upstairs!"

Everest gave Marshall a nod before running into the elevator, frantically pressing the "up" button. "Come on! Come on!" Soon the elevator began to go up, but without getting the attention of Gabriel

"Where's Everest going Marshall?" Gabriel asked

"Uhhh… I don't know actually" Replied Marshall, nervously

"*sigh* Marshall, I'm not dumb and neither are you, but you are a terrible liar," Gabriel said

"Uhhh..."

"Don't worry about it, probably not my place to ask anyway. But at least answer me this Marshall" said the name paying attention "Why is everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, avoiding me? Even YOU Marshall, is it something I did?"

At this point, every pup was hearing in on this conversation on the second floor of the Lookout by watching the security cameras Ryder installed on the big screen or over the balcony.

"I… I can't say" Marshall stuttered, looking at the floor

"You can't say or won't?!" Gabriel said, his tone showing some anger "Marshall this week has been eating me up, almost living hell eating me up! I just wanna hang out with you pups only to get a response that doesn't let me hang out with any of you! And if I try to ask if it's something I did, I just get a response that doesn't answer my question! You were the only pup left I had yet to ask that question Marshall, and I got a dismissive answer! So tell me, Marshall, you can't say or you won't say it?!"

Marshall was stuck. Both answers don't lead to a good outcome without ruining the surprise. Both answers would make Gabriel hurt no matter what, so what was the correct answer to say? After a minute, Marshall spoke

"I… can't say"

"I knew it, some things just don't change huh?" Those words cut pretty deep into Marshall. He knew either answer wasn't going to be good, but hearing Gabriel say those words still hurt. Gabriel began making his way to his puphouse before saying one more thing to Marshall. "Leave me alone"

"Gabriel… wait," Marshall said, walking slowly up to Gabriel

"Marshall, I said leave me alone," Gabriel said, giving Marshall the cold shoulder

"Please Gabriel wait" Marshall caught up to Gabriel and placed a paw on his shoulder, only to be thrown over Gabriel's shoulder and hit the ground, not too hard, but hard nonetheless

"DROP IT MARSHALL!" Gabriel yelled loudly, pinning Marshall to the ground, making the other pups who were still listening flinch. Everest was more shocked than anything "WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO MAKE THIS BETTER?! YOU CLEARLY TOOK YOUR TIME TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER JUST NOW, MEANING YOU WERE CONSIDERING TELLING ME OR NOT, AND YOU DIDN'T IN THE END!" Gabriel got off Marshall, and it was then Marshall looked at Gabriel, seeing tears in his eyes. The two pups were silent for a bit before Gabriel continued to talk, not as loud as he was before "We're b-best f-friends, Marshall…" Gabriel said, voice breaking "...but I-I didn't expect you to keep hiding t-things f-from me."

Gabriel then ran away from Marshall, tears falling from his face. Marshall just stayed in his position, shocked. Again, he knew either option wasn't going to end well, but he didn't expect it to hurt Gabriel THIS bad.

Meanwhile, everyone on the second floor of the Lookout was silent, no pup moved. They just witnessed Gabriel finally break and yell at Marshall of all pups. The first two pups who even moved were Everest and Margareth. The two entered the elevator and made their way back to the first floor, and both of them saw Marshall still on the floor. Only then did somepup talk.

"Marshall! Are you okay?" Everest asked worried, knocking Marshall out of his train of thought

"no" was all the male Dalmatian could say

"Let me check you Marshy, that looked like it hurt," Margareth said, getting her EMT gear

"I'm… fine sis."

"Fine or not, I'm still giving you a checkup!"

Before Marshall could respond, his sister was already in the elevator going up

"I'm gonna give that dog a piece of my mind!" Everest said, only to be stopped when somepup grabbed her leg. She instinctively turned around and saw Marshall holding her back

"Don't, I had a feeling this would end badly," Everest was shocked to hear Marshall say this. "Let's just hope he'll understand why we're doing this to him tomorrow"

As much as Everest wanted to talk to Gabriel, hearing Marshall say no is what made her stop trying. "Doesn't mean what he did was right"

"No, I had that coming, but knowing what he has it in for him tomorrow will most likely make him apologize," Marshall said before his sister came up to him

"Hold still Marshy"

"I used to be the EMT sis, I'm fine"

"Yeah yeah, let me give you a check-up Marshy"

At this point Marshall gave up trying to convince his sister that he was fine, so he just let her give him a checkup, only to get results that said he was fine "What did I say, sis?"

"Shut up," Margareth said chuckling.

Soon, the pups heard the sound of an engine approaching the Lookout. The trio on the ground floor, excluding Gabriel, went to investigate while the pups on the second floor went to the balcony. Everypup saw Ryder coming back in the Dino Patroller. The Dino Patroller stopped in the yard and the door underneath opened, revealing Ryder and Rex coming out. The duo made their way towards the entrance to the lookout, the pups on the second floor of the balcony making their way towards the elevator in the process. Once everyone was on the ground floor, Rex and Ryder walked in.

"Hi everybody!" Rex says enthusiastically

"Hi, Rex!" Everyone said

"Nice to see you, Rex!" Said pup turned his head to see Rocky and Wild Cat behind him

"There you are! I was wondering why you weren't with the other pups" Rex said

"Pups, Rex is going to be staying the night here at the Lookout for Gabriel's Birthday Party" Ryder announced "Speaking of, has Gabriel arrived back at the Lookout?"

Everyone's faces became more sad, and Rex and Ryder saw.

"Pups… What happened while I was gone?" Ryder asked.

"Gabriel… had an argument with me," Marshall said.

"Why? It's not like Gabriel to get angry at anyone, much less towards a friend" Ryder said

"Just… watch the security footage… it has everything that happened," Marshall said, dipping his head downwards

Ryder pulled out his pup pad and checked the security footage. He watched the footage surprised. Surprised to see Gabriel yell. Surprised to see Gabriel fight. Surprised to see Gabriel cry.

"What do we do Ryder?" Rex asked

"Leave him be, he's most likely still mad. When tomorrow comes, he'll understand why we're doing this to him"

"Are you sure that's a good idea, Ryder?" Rocky asked, getting everyone's attention "I feel like he needs to be comforted"

"I'm with you on that Rocky" Ryder said before continuing "And on any other day I would check up on him, but from what he said in the security footage and from what his actions said, he doesn't want to be with anyone right now, just by himself. We'll check up on him in like an hour, but it's best if we let him cool down before talking to him"

Rocky remembered a memory from his past, a promise he made to two dogs years ago, but in the end obeyed Ryder with his command.

"Okay, but not for too long"

"Don't worry Rocky, like I said, we'll wait at least an hour before we go talk to him" Ryder said while scratching Rocky's head "Besides all that, we'll set up the party tomorrow at the park alright pups" Ryder got a few nods, barks, and howls as his response.

About an hour and a half had passed, and everypup had tried to talk to Gabriel, only to get silence or a "leave me alone". The only two pups that were close to convincing Gabriel to come out and talk were Rocky and Marshall, but both were unable to convince him to come out. After trying to convince Gabriel to come out for 3 hours, everypup just decided to leave Gabriel be. While he was finally getting the silence he wanted, Gabriel was just in his pup house, thinking about what the other pups must think of him.

"Why is everyone avoiding me? I didn't do something wrong did I? No I don't think so, they would've told me what I did wrong if I did do something wrong." Soon, a really negative thought entered his mind "Do… do they… hate me? N-No, no they don't. Of course, t-they love me! I'm p-part of the family! I-I haven't done anything to them to make them hate me… have I thought?"

"That's impossible, the pups could never hate me." Gabriel said out loud "I should apologise to Marshall" Gabriel took a quick glance at the clock in his puphouse "9:30 PM, they're probably getting ready to sleep, I'll apologise tomorrow" Gabriel went back to his wet bed and went to sleep.
