Note: An indirect sequel to 'Potty Training Wonderbolt Style'.
Ever since retiring from being a full time member of the Wonderbolts, Soarin found that being a mostly stay at home dad wasn't easy as pie. His wife, Rainbow Dash was now the captain of the team. Meanwhile, as the father of two foals, he had to keep them out of trouble. Prism Bolt was now in school while his younger sister named Speedy Storm was in potty training.
As the captain of the Wonderbolts, Rainbow Dash would come home tired. But since Hearts Warming Eve was just around the corner, the team was given two weeks off to spend the holidays. And that meant she had more time to spend with her foals. "Well, Speedy, you're dry and clean for now. Figured you were, but it never hurts to check," She told her three year old daughter (who aside from having her father's mane colors looked almost like the spitting image of her mother) after inspecting the filly's diaper. "As for me, I think it's about time for me to use the bathroom."
"Oh, you have to go potty?" Speedy Storm asked in a playful tone of voice.
Giggling at the childish term, the speedstar mare nevertheless nodded. "Yes, I certainly do," Then she got an idea. "As a matter of fact, maybe we should try to see about getting you on the potty as well. You're older than your brother was when he started potty training. And everypony has to learn eventually."
"Are you sure?" Speedy hesitantly questioned as she looked at her Wonderbolts themed diaper. "I kind of like my diapers. They're safer." She shuddered as she thought about the alternative.
Rainbow Dash sighed as she lifted her three year old daughter out of the crib. "I know, Speedy, but you can't stay in them forever. Besides, that one mishap with the potty wasn't your fault, it was your Daddy's idea. And even then, it wasn't entirely his fault." And her mind began flashing back to when her husband had tried to teach Speedy about the potty.
It had happened about half a year ago, just before Prisim Bolt went away to school. Speedy Storm was playing with her Wonderbolt plushie in her parents' bedroom. For a foal her age, she was very curious and very eager to learn about everything she could, not through books but through hooves-on experience.
Suddenly, the foal heard a loud noise. It lasted for a few seconds before being replaced by a strange gurgling sound. She then saw Soarin coming out of a room, escorting her older brother (who unlike her didn't wear diapers, he wore something called pull-ups). A very peculiar room at that, because it seemed to have some strange objects in it that commanded her attention. Naturally, being the curious filly she was, she decided to start asking questions. So she waddled her way up to her father and asked. "Daddy?"
Soarin looked down. "Hey, Speedy," He cheerfully greeted. "What's up?"
"What's that room you were just in?" Speedy Storm inquired. "It seems like you go into that room a lot. And so do Mommy and Prism. But it's not a room I remember going into."
The stallion looked back. "Oh, that? That's the bathroom. That's where you have to take baths."
The little pegasus adopted a puzzled look. "But, you weren't taking a bath, were you?"
Soarin shook his head. "Nope. I was just helping your brother use the potty."
"What's a p… p… potty?" Speedy struggled to get the word out that her dad had just used.
"A potty is what grown-up ponies use instead of diapers," Prism Bolt replied. "Someday, you'll use it too, just like Mommy and Daddy."
"Can I see it?" Speedy Storm asked, her curiosity piqued. The only thing better than learning a word was learning what that word was or what it looked like.
Soarin was uncertain at first. But one look at his daughter's face made him cave in. "I don't see why not." He said. Scooping the filly up with his hooves, he carried her into the bathroom that he and Rainbow Dash shared.
Speedy Storm was amazed by how different her parents' bathroom was. It was quite bigger than the one she shared with her brother. There were lots of cabinets that her parents had warned her never to go into or touch anything within them. The floor consisted mainly of clouds. She quickly recognized the bathtub which had a rain cloud instead of a shower head and a Wonderbolts themed shower curtain. She soon found herself in front of a light blue object that was much taller and bigger than her. This was another thing she remembered not being allowed to go near.
"See that?" Soarin beamed as he pointed to the object. "That's the potty. The grown-up one at that."
The little pegasus examined the object carefully. It appeared to be a mix of a chair and a bowl that appeared to be anchored to the floor. Above the bowl was some sort of box with a gold lightning bolt on the upper left side. After inspecting it, however, she was still puzzled. "I don't get it." She told her dad.
The pie loving stallion tried not to laugh. As curious as his daughter was, there were still going to be things that she wouldn't understand just yet. "You will someday, Speedy. After all, Mommy says you're just about ready to start potty training."
Then suddenly, Prism Bolt got an idea! "I know, Daddy! We could start her training right now!" And he turned to his sister. "You could try to use the potty like I do! It's lots of fun"
With the idea planted in her head, Speedy Storm eagerly agreed! "Yeah! Let's try it! I wanna try!" But then she blushed, realizing she didn't have a clue as to how 'potty training' was supposed to work. "Uh, how do I do it?" She wondered.
Soarin smiled and explained. "It's really simple: You just take off your diaper. And then, you just sit down and do what you do in your diapers." He then proceeded to lift Speedy off the floor and onto the tank, removing her diaper in the process.
When Speedy Storm looked down, she noticed that both the round shaped toilet seat and the lid were made from soft, fluffy clouds. She also saw that the bowl was filled with smooth, crystal clear water which kinda looked like a mirror since she could see a reflection of herself. There was also a round hole at the bottom. "Then what?" She asked.
"Well, once you're all done, you have to clean your flanks, flush, and then you wash your hooves," Soarin told the little pegasus. "To clean yourself up, you just use some toilet paper," He proceeded to point to a nearby roll on the wall before directing his little daughter's attention to the gold lightning bolt shaped handle. "And to flush, you just push the handle down like this." Placing a hoof on the custom made handle, he pressed it down.
FWOOSH!
Suddenly, the toilet let out a thunderous roar and Speedy Storm looked down and saw that the water in the bowl was now moving! It appeared to have a spinning motion to it, a motion that only got faster and faster as the seconds passed! The rapidly spinning water almost came right up to the cloud toilet seat before it started going down. Moments later, it swirled down the hole and disappeared. There was a strange gurgling sound and then the water came back, refilling the bowl as if nothing had happened. "Woah!" She cheered. "That's so cool!"
Soarin chuckled. "You bet it is! So, what do you think, Speedy? Wanna give it a try?"
"Uh-huh!" The little filly nodded. Needless to say, she was extremely fascinated, eager to learn more about the potty.
"Splendid!" The pie loving stallion declared before he slowly, but carefully placed Speedy Storm onto the cloud toilet seat, making sure that her rump was hovering over the opening and her hind legs were dangling over the edge.
"I wanna try it all by myself!" Speedy boasted as she sat on the cloud toilet seat.
The former Wonderbolt blinked in surprise. "You sure you don't want my help?"
But the little pegasus was quite insistent. "I don't need help!" And the look she shot made it quite clear to Soarin that she wasn't going to change her mind.
"It's okay, Daddy," Prism Bolt declared. "I can watch her for you. I know all about the potty. I'll be right here if she needs anything."
Reluctantly, the pie loving stallion decided to respect his daughter's wishes. "Okay, great! I'll leave you brave foals to it. But I'll be waiting if you change your mind. And don't feel bad if you don't do anything. What matters most is that you try." Then he trotted out of the bathroom, shutting the door so as to give Speedy some privacy.
However, Soarin didn't know that he had just given the filly a chance to do something that most ponies never even thought of. Instead, feeling confident that Prism Bolt would keep Speedy Storm out of trouble, he decided to go lie down on the couch and rest for a while. Having to raise two foals was exhausting, especially now that both were in potty training.
Inside the bathroom, there was still something nagging Speedy Storm as she sat on the toilet. What was that hole at the bottom of the bowl for? It had to be there for a reason. It seemed quite silly for something to have a hole in it for no reason. Was it related to the motion of the water in the bowl?
Knowing there was only one way to find out, the filly turned towards the gold lightning bolt shaped handle, recalling that her dad pressing it down was what had caused the toilet to 'flush' last time. And the 'flush' was what made the water spin before swirling down the hole which had to lead to somewhere.
So the little pegasus reached her front hooves out to grab the handle. She couldn't quite reach it, though. Instead, she got an idea. When her brother wasn't looking, she scooted over to the toilet paper rack and pulled a few pieces loose. Then she dropped them into the bowl below, making an audible splash.
Prism Bolt hadn't seen this, and when he heard the splash he thought his sister had just used the toilet. "Do you need any help wiping, sis?" He asked her.
Speedy shook her head and then asked. "Can you show me how to flush again, please?"
Prism, suspecthing nothing, nodded back. "Sure thing, sis. Watch closely," He flew towards the golden, lightning bolt shaped handle, and pulled it down to trigger the flush. "Just like that, sis." He said. Just like before, the toilet let out a thunderous roar and the water in the bowl began to spin around and around.
Without hesitating for even a second, Speedy Storm stood up on the cloud toilet seat and then jumped from it down into the bowl, landing in it with a splash! As the flush continued, she felt himself be swept up by the spinning water. It also felt like there was something tugging on her from below, trying to pull on her. However, she didn't try to fight it, this was the only way she could find out how the toilet worked.
"Speedy!" Prism Bolt gasped in dismay as he only now realized what his little sister was trying to do! He hastily flew towards the toilet, trying desperately to reach Speedy in time!
Soon, the water started going down, taking Speedy Storm with it. Down, down, down she descended, as her brother grew smaller and smaller in her line of vision. All the while the hole at the bottom drew closer and closer! Suddenly, the powerful tugging sensation grabbed hold of the filly by the tail! The next thing she knew, she was sucked tail first down through the hole and everything went dark! Then the water swirls down the drain and disappeared before returning without the curious filly.
Prism Bolt could only watch in helplessness as he flew close to the drain, only to watch his little sister be sucked through it before he could pull her to safety! "What am I gonna tell Daddy?" He asked himself as he flew back up, seeing no trace of his sister anywhere.
By chance, Soarin had heard the toilet being flushed from afar, but had thought nothing of it. He got up and with a smile he trotted to the bathroom, calling through the door. "Are you all done, Speedy?" He asked and waited, but there was no reply. That struck him as odd. "Speedy? Do you need any help?" He called again while knocking on the door. But still, there was no answer.
The stallion pushed open the bathroom door, expecting to see his daughter on the other side, sitting on the toilet. The discarded diaper was still on the floor, but the filly wasn't on the cloud toilet seat. In fact, she was nowhere in sight! And yet there was Prism Bolt just standing there with a horrified look on his face.
Suddenly, an awful thought struck the former fully time Wonderbolt! He'd thought he'd heard some kind of cry just before the flush had ended. "No! She didn't!" He thought to himself, but there seemed to be no better explanation as to his curious daughter's mysterious disappearance. Somehow, she had accidentally flushed herself down the toilet!
Prism Bolt nervously looked to his father and said. "Um, Daddy, I think we have a problem."
"How could you let that happen?!" Soarin scolded his son. "You were supposed to be keeping an eye on her!"
"I was," Prism Bolt insisted as he shrunk in fear. "I didn't realize what she was doing when she flushed the toilet. And by the time I did it was too late. I tried to save her. Really, I did."
His worst fears now confirmed, Soarin raced to the porcelain throne and shouted to the drain. "Speedy? Speedy! Can you hear me?!" But there was still no response. He then flushed the toilet in the desperate hope that the filly was stuck in the pipes somehwere. But the water swirls down the drain and then came back. "Oh no!" He groaned. "Dashie's not gonna like this!" And he was right.
When Rainbow Dash came home a short time later and heard what had happened to Speedy Storm, she was very angry indeed. "What in Equestria were you thinking, Soarin?!" She sternly scolded her husband.
"It was an accident, I swear!" Soarin protested, feeling like he'd just been slapped in the face. "She was just so curious about what I was doing, I just couldn't say no to her. How was I to know this was gonna happen?"
"Then tell me what happened!" Rainbow Dash demanded in her tough drill sergeant voice. "I want the truth, and I want it now!"
Soarin sighed, but managed to confess. "While I was showing her the toilet after helping Prism Bolt use it, I thought she could try using it, so I told her how to do it. She then wanted to try going potty all by herself, and I left Prism to watch over her while I got some rest. But I didn't think she would try to flush herself down the toilet!"
Rainbow Dash just groaned, knowing that potty training her daughter was now surely going to be tougher due to her husband's big mistake. "Soarin, didn't we specifically agree that we'd hold off on potty training Speedy until Prism Bolt was at school? You know it took a long time for Prism to fully master his training. And now, it'll be a miracle if Speedy Storm ever wants to get out of diapers," She then sighed. "Well, I better go find Speedy, wherever she got flushed to."
The former full tim Wonderbolt shook his head. "No, Dashie," He insisted. "Let me find her. After all, it was my idea and this really is my fault. I inadvertently let her go down the drain. I should've known not to leave her in the bathroom without a grown-up."
"You're right," The brash speedstar mare nodded, seeing that the pie loving stallion was ready to make up for the huge mistake he made. "Just promise me that you will never let this happen again."
"You got it!" Soarin declared and saluted his wife before rushing off to find their daughter.
Speedy Storm, meanwhile, after being sucked down the drain traveled through a series of cold, metal pipes. And then, without warning, she plunged face first into a dark, smelly place. She wandered about aimlessly, unable to swim back up through the pipes. Apparently, this is where all things went when you flushed the toilet, a place that smelled worse than any dirty diaper. And it seemed like there were other things that ponies flushed down the toilet, given that she could see discarded pieces of jewelry floating around, some broken and worn toys, and even the odd diaper that was swelled up with the icky water.
Then, all of a sudden, there was a noise. And then light filtered down from above. She could hear a voice calling out to her. "Speedy?! Speedy, can you hear me?!" She recognized at once it was her daddy.
"Down here, Daddy!" Speedy called back. "Get me out of here, please! I don't like this place: It's dark, and cold, and it really stinks!"
Soarin swooped down from the source of light a moment later, quickly grabbing hold of his daughter and carrying her to safety. "I'm sorry, Speedy," He sincerely apologized. "Daddy didn't mean for you to go down the drain. We can hold off on getting you on the potty. Now let's get you home and get you cleaned up."
The flashback ended as Rainbow Dash brought her nervous daughter into her private bathroom before shutting the door behind her. "Come on, Speedy," She insisted. "I won't let you go down the drain again. You're too big to fit down it now."
"I... I... I know that," Speedy Storm protested in a hesitant tone of voice. "But still... using the potty instead of my diapers..."
Rainbow Dash sat the little filly down on the floor. "Just do what I do. Then you'll see that there's nothing to be scared of."
Speedy watched with hesitation and concern as her mother approached the toilet. "Be careful, Mommy!" She whimpered.
The colorful Wonderbolt captain wasn't concerned or worried in the slightest as she sat down on the cloud toilet seat and looked down at her daughter. "See?" She remarked as her floodgates opened "Nothing bad is happening to me."
"Oh, Mommy, you're so brave!" Speedy exclaimed with exaggerated praise.
"Yup!" Rainbow Dash nodded. "I know. My mom and dad told me that I couldn't be a Wonderbolt if I wasn't fully potty trained, or even get into Junior Speedsters for that matter. Plus, wearing diapers just slowed me down," Once she was done, she then cleaned herself up before standing up. After flushing the toilet, she encouraged Speedy. "Now come on, it's your turn. Just come over here and give it a try. You'll be fine, I promise."
The little filly was still nervous, but the more she thought about it, her mother was able to go potty without any trouble. She'd also promised Speedy that she wouldn't let anything bad happen to her. And whenever she'd made that promise, she always kept it. So the filly reluctantly made her way towards her mom who was standing next to the toilet.
"That's it! Come on, Speedy!" Rainbow Dash said as she saw her daughter slowly get closer and closer. "Just a bit more! I know you can do it! You're almost there!"
Shutting her eyes, Speedy made one more big effort! She soon felt herself being pulled into her mother's hooves. Once her diaper was taken off, she was carefully placed onto the cloud toilet seat. "How long am I supposed to sit here?" She asked.
"Well, at your age, it might take awhile," Rainbow Dash answered. "So it's okay if you don't have to go right away. But you have to at least sit there for a while and try. Don't feel bad if you don't get it right on your first try, I didn't either. In fact, the first time my parents tried to get me to use the potty, I was more interested in playing with the flush and I ended up clogging it up. It took me a while to learn what a potty is supposed to be for. And from what your daddy tells me, he was a late bloomer to potty training too. But if even he could figure out the potty eventually, so can you."
So Speedy sighed as she sat down on the cloud toilet seat and tried to make herself comfortable. It wasn't long before she started to predictably get bored. But still, she sat, and sat, and sat, and sat some more, knowing that she'd just be forced to sit back down if she tried to get up.
At last, just as Speedy was about to give up, it happened. It was as if her body was operating on all its own. She concentrated as best she could. She eventually managed to open her floodgates, letting it all out as she tinkled into the bowl. When it came to a stop, her tail hiked upward, and within seconds a series of splashes could be heard. Some of the splashes resulted in her flanks getting hit by drops of cold water.
The colorful pegasus mare was delighted. "You did it, Speedy! You went potty!" She cheered and clapped her hooves, causing her daughter to open her eyes.
"I did?" The young filly blinked before looking down into the toilet. What she saw made her gasp. "I... I... I did it!" She then happily cried. "I really did it!"
"You sure did!" Rainbow Dash replied. "Gosh, once your Dad and big brother hear about this, they're gonna be so amazed!"
"Really?" Speedy asked as her mother pulled some toilet paper off from the roll and used it to clean her daughter's rump before tossing it into the toilet.
"Totally!" Rainbow Dash beamed as she lifted the filly off the cloud toilet seat and over to the gold lightning bolt shaped handle. "Now you gotta flush the potty!"
Upon eyeing the handle, the little pegasus gulped, remembering what had happened the last time she pushed it down. She reached out a hoof towards it, only to hesitate.
Rainbow Dash could tell how scared Speedy Storm was. After all, it was her daughter's curiosity that had caused her to flush herself down the toilet. Neither of them wanted history to repeat itself. "It's okay, Speedy, I won't let you go down the drain again," She encouraged while continuing to smile. "I promise you'll be safe."
"You really mean it?" Speedy whimpered.
"Yup!" The colorful Wonderbolt nodded. "Now go on, just give the handle a pull."
Despite the extra encouragement from her famous mother, Speedy Storm still wasn't sure. However, she'd already come this far, she couldn't turn back now even if she wanted to. So, plucking up courage, she placed her hoof on the gold lightning bolt shaped handle and pressed it down.
Right on cue, the toilet began to flush and the little pegasus watched as the water in the bowl started to spin around. Faster and faster it went before becoming a dizzying whirlpool which sucked everything down through the hole at the bottom. Then she saw the water swirl down the drain and disappear, causing the toilet to gurgle a few times before it all came back and refilled the bowl, being crystal clear once more.
Rainbow Dash smiled as she set Speedy Storm down and put her diaper back on and tape it securely around her rear once again. "See how easy and fun that was?"
"Yeah, I guess it was," Speedy admitted with a light blush slowly forming on her face. "You were right all along, Mommy."
"Of course I was!" Rainbow Dash boasted as she trotted over to the sink and turned on the tap. She proceeded to work some soap into her daughter's hooves, and then ran them under the warm waters for several seconds. Afterwards, she repeated the process with her own hooves before turning off the faucet and brought over a towel to dry their hooves. "Just to be safe. If you can go a month without having any accidents, I'll put you in pull-ups," She told the filly. "And from now, if you ever feel like you have to go potty, just let me know and I'll help you do this all again. Okay?"
"Okay." Speedy nodded and then followed her mother out of the bathroom. Potty training had actually felt kind of… fun. She couldn't wait to try it again the next time she had to go.
