AN: Thank you for the reviews/comments. It means a lot. It looks like most of them want Issei to come back via a kiss. That was all that was mentioned anyway. Remember he can only tell three people. But he'll have the option for the devil in case things don't go as planned.

Chapter 3

Koenma, Issei, and Botan all looked at Issei's body, a heart monitor showed there was a steady if tiny heartbeat, and an IV was attached to his right arm. Hospitals were never one of his favorite places but Issei was glad his body was kept somewhere safe. As the hands of the clock ticked closer to midnight, Issei wondered why Koenma hadn't said a word since they got here. Had he been in his body he was certain he'd have started to fidget and play with random things around the room. He looked at the clock and started counting down to midnight. 'Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!'

"Ok that's enough it's midnight! What is going on!?" Issei finally broke.

"If you must now I'm waiting for your spirit wavelengths to sink, it's almost there just not quite." Koenma pulled out a watch. "Almost… Ah there! It's started!"

"So what do I just lie in my body and boom, back to life?" Issei poked at his body.

"It's not that simple. You must get someone to give you some of their life force." Koenma fiddled with the watch.

"L-like a h-human s-sacrifice?" Issei stepped backward.

"Do I look like a devil to you?!" Koenma glared. "No, they have to kiss you." He said in a cutesy tone.

"W-w-what? But I've never k-kissed anyone." Issei was caught off guard.

"Think of it like CPR you know the kiss of life." Koenma stared. "Though there is another option."

"Sir? I thought they had planned to wait?" Botan looked at Koenma.

"Well, they were but when I told Sirzechs that Issei had passed the test they wanted to meet him now," he explained.

"Wait what's going on now? Who's Sirzechs? Who's they?" Issei felt like he was left out of the loop.

"It's better for them to explain Issei but let's just say they are what I referred to when I said there is more to this world," Botan spoke softly. The room was filled with red light and three people appeared. A red-haired man in armor and a cape, a sliver-haired maid, and one of the great ladies of Kuoh Academy Rias Gremory. Issei immediately saw similarities between the man and Rias, was he her father? No, he looked too young, maybe a brother? Probably, wait how did they appear out of that light?

"You are correct. It's a pleasure to see you again Koenma." Sirzechs tipped his head in respect.

"Pleasure's all mine. Well, let's get this over with shall we." Koenma turned to Issei. "Issei I would like to introduce you to Sirzech Lucifer formerly of the house of Germory. Sirzechs as you know this is Issei Hyoudou."

"Lucifer like the devil?" Issei sounded worried.

"Not quite. That Lucifer died long ago, but yes like a devil." Two thin bat-like wings unfurled from his back. Issei Stumbles backward looking for something to hide behind.

"Really my other option is going to hell?!" Issei half screams. Koenma hit his shine in annoyance.

"Sorry I haven't had time to explain everything to him." Koenma bows.

"That's ok, it's a common enough occurrence with normal people. Now Issei I don't want to drag you to hell or anything like that. Perhaps a history lesson is in order." Sirzech took a seat on the armchair in the hospital room and started to explain an abridged version of the history of the three factions and great war, the devil civil war, and the treaty with Spirit World. To say Issei's worldview was shattered was taking it likely.

"Wow…" Issei just stared ahead, "That's a lot to take in. But why are you here now?"

"Well, I'm here just to escort my precious baby sister." Sirzechs chuckles as Rias glares at him. "Rias would you like to speak now?"

"Of course brother. It's a pleasure to, let's say meet you Issei my Rook has told me a lot about you. It's a shame that this was how we officially met." Rias started off. "As my brother explained after the devil civil war our kind were greatly diminished. With our low birthrate, things weren't looking good till Lord Beelzebub developed a way to increase our ranks, Reincarnating humans and others as Devils with the Evil Piece system." It all clicked there for Issei the other option was to become a devil. Rias went on to explain how the Evil Pieces were based on chess and how a pure-blood devil would use them to create a peerage.

"Isn't that just forced servitude?" Issei asked.

"Not quite while we devils can revive the recently dead, we also give this deal to those who show promise and it can't be forced upon them they get a choice." Sirzechs stepped in. "While a few less reputable devils treat their peerage as slaves most of us treat them as friends, confidantes, and in the Gremory families case, they are treated as a second family. We guide them and help them rise to higher ranks in Devil society until they can be nominated to get their own peerage."

"I guess that sounds a little better. But why me? Other than taking a few years of karate I'm nothing special. Why not someone like Murayama or Katase?" Issei wondered.

"There's more to scouting a member than looking for power. You look at everything personality, history, family, achievements, failures, and in this case potential. Your potential is near limitless Issei and with the perks of being a devil you will grow exponentially." Rias told him getting closer to him. Sirzechs looked proud at what his sister said.

"So you say I have potential?" Issei scratched his cheek struggling to keep his eyes from wandering, she had played a part in a few of his fantasies after all. "It's all so much. It's kinda hard to take in you know? This all started when my legs started to move on their own to save that kid and now I have multiple ways to return."

"It's understandable you have learned something not many know about this world." Sirzechs nodded.

"Y-yeah." Issei chuckled. "Now don't get me wrong here I'm not saying no but could I maybe have some time to think about this?" Rias looks at her brother who nods and turns back towards Issei.

"That will be fine. But you only have till 11:30 at night alright?" Rias tells him.

"That's fine." Issei turns towards Koenma. "Is there anything else I need to know?"

"If you choose the other way you can only tell three people so choose wisely," Koenma tells him with a serious look.

"Well, guess I better start thinking." Issei sighed.

Issei and Botan flew through the sky without speaking a word. Issei had a lot on his mind, how was he going to get someone to kiss him? Who was he going to tell and how would they react? Did he want to become a devil? Sure, both Rias and Sirzech told him the pros and cons but was he willing to give up his humanity? If he did so how would his mother feel? How would Murayama and Katase react? How would Ikki react if he ever came back? Issei knew the boy loved the church. Would it be a betrayal of their friendship?

"Hey, Botan?" Issei looked at her. "What do you think I should do?"

"Well, Issei. I really shouldn't get involved in this. But let me give you some advice, listen to what your heart is telling you." Botan smirked.

"My heart huh?" Issei starts to think. Various images of Murayama and Katase in all manner of dress and undress came to mind.

"Please come back to us. / We don't care what you are." Murayama and Katase called. The next image was his mother sitting in their kitchen.

"No matter what you are my baby boy and nothing will stop me from loving you." His mother said sipping tea.

"As long as you hold the heart of a hero we'll always be friends." The childish voice of Ikki said. Issei had his answer but he felt like he shouldn't put all his eggs in a single basket. So he'd do both, he'd inform three people about the kiss and if no one showed up by 11 pm he'd take the devil deal. He smiled thinking about what else he could add to that information he'd tell the three he choose. He already knew two so he just had to come up with a third. He first thought of his mom but figured he wouldn't touch that with a fifty-foot poll since it needed to be a kiss on the lips.

Katase awoke from a rather intense dream. Isei had told her he passed his test and then the scene changed. Issei was lying in a hospital bed She lends down and gently kissed him, the light strengthened and then he opened his eyes and smiled. Without speaking he drew her in for another kiss. As things heated up he pulled her into the bed with him and slowly unbuttoned her blouse while kissing her neck. The next thing she knew he was on top of her and their clothes were thrown all over the place. She felt her bed and sighed.

"Looks like I'll need to clean this up." She sighed.

Murayama woke with a face as red as a tomato. Isei had told her he passed his test and then the scene changed. Issei was lying in a hospital bed She lends down and gently kissed him, the light strengthened and then he opened his eyes and smiled. The next part was rather intense. Once he had sat up She immediately pounced and followed her heart doing all the things she had ever wanted to do, images of her body grinding on his filled her head.

"If that's what it takes I'll do it." She laid back down with a sigh and fell back asleep.

Issei hovered outside of Murayama's house feeling rather embarrassed. He had given both of them a little push to see how they would react, but he was not expecting that. He didn't know if spirits could blush, but if they could he would be. He wasn't sure he was ready for all that. He liked both of them and his father always teased him about having a harem. Though now he was wondering if Murayama could really bend like that giving him more thoughts.

"I'd call that a success." He muttered with a chuckle. "Though I don't really know if I want to tell anyone else."

"Teenagers and their hormones…" Botan muttered with a blush. "Well, Issei who are we going to now?" Issei jumped being scared out of his fantasies.

"Not really sure. The only other people I know are my mom, Koneko, and Rias. I really don't want to tell my mom to kiss me, Rias is a devil and would rather revive me as one as well but I'm saving that as last resort, I guess we could go to Koneko but I don't know where she lives." He thought aloud.

"Are you…" Botan started.

"No! No, Koneko kinda scares me, I have a feeling she'd be able to hit me even though I'm a spirit so no funny business just a normal dream." Issei waved his arms frantically.

"If that's what you want I can lead you to her." Botan scratched her cheek wondering how this would go. Not only was the girl a Nekomata but she was also the Rook of Rias Gremory. Her apartment was less than ten minutes from Kuoh Academy so it wasn't hard to find. Botan pointed out her window and as Issei went towards it she opened her communicator and started to record the event.

Issei felt on edge as he made his way through the wall. He had never met anyone who could see ghosts normally and the deadpan look Koneko gave him each time always felt like she was judging him. He made sure to keep as quiet as possible as he approached her bed. A fist flew at him and he barely dodged in time.

"Stupid fly…" Koneko mumbled as she slept.

"Ok, Issei just give her the dream and book it." He thought to himself. He placed his hand on her head causing the girl to tense and him to freeze. On instinct, he started petting her head and she seemed to calm down. He sent the information he had about the kiss and glow to get his body back and removed his hand. Koneko's eye's shot open and Issei flew up to the ceiling as she delivered a nasty-looking punch to where he was. She looked around and eventually looked up.

"Uhhh, gotta go bye!" He flew faster than he had before while prying for his afterlife. He barely got through the wall before cracks appeared on the outside of the building.

"Never let me do that again!" Issei yelled at Botan who was laughing up a storm.

Kiba ran to Koneko's apartment after hearing the commotion. Using the spare key he ran into her room and found her blushing while staring at a large indent by the window. SAhe shook her head and turned to face him.

"Are you ok?" He hesitantly asked.

"I need to talk to Buchou." She spoke in a too calm voice. He nodded and pulled out his phone.

"Buchou? This is Kiba, yes I know it's late but something happened with Koneko…" He didn't even get a chance to say anymore as Rias teleported into the room and latched onto Koneko with a hug.

"Koneko! Are you ok? Did someone hurt you?" She asked her looking at the girls frazzled appearance.

"I'm fine." Koneko's normal attitude was back. "I just had a visitor."

"Aww, my little Koneko is growing up. They didn't push you to do anything you didn't want to do did they?" Rias sounded calmer.

"No, it wasn't like that," Koneko blushed at the question. "It was Issei."

"Oh, well that's good," Rias started. "Issei? What did he want?" Koneko started blushing more and shuffling her feet.

"He uh… He showed me how to I guess bring him back," Koneko shyly spoke up.

"He did? But I talked to him earlier," Rias looked confused. "Oh! It's probably because I didn't use your name when I told him someone was watching him. So, what's the other way to bring him back?"

"...iss him…" Koneko whispered.

"Huh?" Rias couldn't quite make out whatever she said.

"I have to uhhh… Kiss him." Koneko hid her face.

"Aww, it's like Sleeping Beauty. The noble and valiant knight climbs the tower and with true loves kiss awakens the princess." Rias gushed over the information. Koneko pouted at the analogy. "You don't have to if you don't want to ok?"

Koneko thinks about it and then nods as she made her decision. "I'll do it."

"Are you sure?" Rias asks, Koneko nods in response. "Ok, remember if he gets handsy you can hit him but don't break him. When he comes back to school I want to see him afterward in the clubroom ok?"

Issei and Botan stayed around the hospital waiting for one of the three to show up. It made some sense they hadn't yet, it was a school day after all. Issei was about to go looking when he noticed, all three of them entering the hospital. He had honestly thought only one would show up and he wasn't expecting Koneko to show up after everything last night. Murayama and Katase stopped at the nurse's station to ask for directions while Koneko kept walking. Maybe she was here to see someone else? Issei shook his head, if she was why had he never seen her any of the other days, she had to be here for him.

"I still find it weird I'm about to watch myself get my first kiss," Issei muttered to himself while Botan Giggled knowing that he had already had his first years ago. A part of him hoped that Murayama and Katase would pass Koneko and get to him first, mostly out of fear. Once he was back in his body he wouldn't be able to dodge her. But that didn't happen. He watched as Koneko opened his room door and came up to his bed, only for him not to be glowing.

"What?" Issei wondered out loud.

"It starts from the feet. Don't ask me why it's never made any sense." Botan shrugged. Koneko tilted her head then lifted his sheets and Issei felt the need to hide his crotch. From his feet to his stomach his body was glowing.

"You better take responsibility." Koneko said as she lends toward him and lightly pressed her lips on his. Issei felt his whole body get pulled and Botan looked to the side. Koenma was there with a devious look.

"I guess this case is over huh?" Botan asked him.

"Don't be silly his real ordeal starts now. Let's see how Issei fares when he's not floating in the sky." Koenma cryptically states.

Koneko looked on wondering if it was just some dumb prank by the idiot. Slowly Issei's hand twitches and his eyes open.

"Nice kiss." Issei grins but then flinches when the white-haired girl keeps staring at him. "Please don't hit me." The door to his room bursts open and Murayama and Katase come tumbling in. "Hey, you two how's life?"

"ISSEI!" The two lunge toward him while Koneko decides to leave.

"Wait!" Isei calls out. She stops at the door and stares at him. "I owe you, if you ever need anything just ask," Issei tells her and she just nods and walks out.

AN: THE CHAPTER IS DONE!

I did not expect it to get past the 3k mark. I hope you all enjoyed this. I've yet to decide who the Kuwabara(The person Issei knows before the incident that ends up going on adventures with him) will be so I am open to suggestions.
