AN: I've got a few suggestions for Kuwabara so I shall take them into consideration and you'll know who will play that role by the time we get to Genkai. Until then enjoy Issei being alive again. There will be no Rias bashing or evil Rias going I want Issei to die to use him. I honestly don't understand that whole thought process.

Chapter 4

Issei yawned and went to turn off his alarm only to see his mother staring at him slack-jawed. He knew what was about to come for the last three days his mother would come into his room expecting it to be empty only to find him sleeping. He understood why it's not every day your deceased son comes back to life. She shakily walks her way to him and touches his face before starting to cry.

"Ise! My baby boy!" She pulled him into a bone-breaking hug.

"Yes mom, we've been over this three times… I'm back… can't breathe…" Issei gasped as she let him go.

"I'm sorry it's just each day I wake up expecting you to be gone again!" She starts crying.

"I'm not going anywhere. Don't you have to go to work?" Issei hugged her back as he asked.

"What about you? Why aren't you going back to school?" She half glared at him. "You're not becoming a delinquent, are you?

"Don't worry about me the student council president says I'll be in school again by Monday. It's not easy coming back from 'a coma' you know?" Issei chuckled. He stopped saying dead for his mom, as each time she'd start crying uncontrollably.

"You promise?" Her glare continued.

"I promise." He smiled.

"I have never been happier to be walking again!" Issei laughed as he made his way down the street.

"Over here." A muffled voice called out. Issei looked over and saw a fortune teller.

"Why not." He shrugged and walked over. She started to wave her hands and the crystal ball glowed.

"You are born under a strange star, your life energy is somehow different than the others." She continued moving her hands. 'Maybe I should tell her I've been dead that will mess with her.'

"No, it wouldn't." She stared at him. "You have a mission to complete. Wait where are you going."

"The only mission I have is to find a bite to eat. It's been fun." Issei waved and walked off.

He spots a MgRonalds and decides to get a hamburger. When he walks inside and orders he notices a large group and in the center a guy in glasses with, Horns? What the heck has horns? Devils just have skinny bat wings. He gets his order and sits in the corner so he can keep an eye on Horn boy. He was enjoying his hamburger when some students from another school led by a guy who looked like he lost a bet with a barber.

"Here's your stupid magazines, now can you give me fluffy back?" The new guy asked.

"Good… hmm that's odd Hayate, I didn't know they gave receipts for stolen goods." Horn boy sneered.

"Who cares how I got them I did what you asked!" Hayate argued.

"Oh, but I was trying to teach you the joys of stealing, the thrill you get when getting away with it." Horn boy smirked.

"Who the hell cares just give him the cat back man!" One of Hayate's friends yelled. Horn boy glared at the guy before standing up.

"Follow me." His voice sounded vile and Issei didn't vile it one bit so he finished his meal and followed after them. He found the two groups in a back alley facing each other.

"Where's Fluffy?" Hayate asked.

"She's right here." A thug pulls a cat from a box when Horn Boy spoke. "But first there's one thing I want you to do."

"What?" Hayate growled.

"Simply hit your friends until I say stop, they've been glaring at me this whole time." Horn boy cackled.

"I'd never do that!"

"Just do it man we can take it." Horn boy watched the back and forth before sneering.

"If you don't say goodbye to this cat." He raised his hand and the thug pulled a knife.

"I can't." Hayate gritted his teeth. Horn boy lowered his arm and the thug went to stab it but Issei got there in time kicking the idiot's face and taking the cat. Once he did that everything fell into chaos and the thugs attacked the others.

"Son of a bitch!" Horn boy ran. Issei gave Fluffy to Hayate and ran after the bastard.

"Get back here!" Issei started chasing him. Horn boy ran for a tunnel but tripped.

"I hate people like you." Issei picked the guy up. "Trying to use people for your sick twisted games." Issei hit him and the boy fell unconscious. Issei was planning to call the police again until he noticed something crawling out of the Horn boy's mouth.

"What the hell is that?" The small horned creature looked startled and tried to run but Issei caught it.

"No really what the hell are you?" He looked at it more closely.

"You aren't supposed to see me, and you aren't supposed to pick me up from the air you're breaking the rule." The creature said in a squeaky tone.

"His name is Jyaki. He is a ruthless criminal wanted for half a dozen crimes in the spirit world." The Fortune Teller walks up.

"Aren't you that fortune teller from the alley?" Issei asked.

"Yes and you're the one we've been looking for. Jyaki is really hard to find once he's entered a host." She continued. "We've been tracking him for weeks but your instincts lead you right towards him."

"My instincts? I was just hungry." Issei was confused.

"By that as it may you have everything you need to be the detective of the spirit world."

"What do they do?" Issei asked.

"You will learn soon enough, the appointment is mandatory Issei." She pointed at him.

"How do you know my name?" Issei took a few steps back.

"Now don't be so scared Issei. I hope you know my name." The Fortune teller removed her hood revealing Botan.

"Botan?!" Issei exclaimed.

"Bingo!" She giggled.

"Issei Hyoudou!" The booming voice of Koenma called from outside the tunnel. "Once again you've surprised me. Beginners luck I'm sure, but since the situation is desperate I am commissioning you as the detective of the spirit world and it is more than a fancy title. You'll get cool powers I've come up with them myself. As the need arises Botan will supply you with your cases." He fades away.

"Well, that explains why he let me come back," Issei muttered. Botan took the little guy from him and pulled out her oar.

"Well, I'll be taking this guy back with me see ya later Issei." Botan winks before she flies off.

"What has my life become first dying, then devils, and now this." Issei slumped over.

Issei checked his phone and reread the message from the student council. 'Pease come to the student council room before school.' It was days like this when he wondered why the student council had so much power at school. Eh, it was better than explaining to the administrator. That guy scared him it's like he could see into his soul with those ice blue eyes of his.

"Isn't that the guy that got hit by that car?"

"I think so, wasn't he dead we went to his wake?"

Issei knew there would be questions but still, they were talking like he couldn't hear them. It was almost as bad as all those girls fawning over that Kiba guy. Maybe not that bad but jeez cant a guy die for a few weeks and then come back? There was also his increased strength it wasn't a drastic change but ever since he came back he's felt stronger, it was probably because of Koenma. The tall lanky secretary of the student council stood there waiting.

"You should have gotten here earlier Hyoudou," Saji stated.

"Sorry, my mother has been rather clingy since I woke up from my coma." Issei shrugged. "It's like she sees me as a child again."

"I can understand that. Still, it's your duty as a student to always get to school at least fifteen minutes before class." Saji reprimanded him as they made their way to the student council room. Issei ignored the stares and whispers since it made sense who the hell comes back after being dead. They got to the room and Saji opened to door with a goofy smile.

"Ah, Issei Hyoudou. I'm sure your time… in the hospital was to your liking." Souna Shitori said looking up at him.

"Uh, yeah. Just remind me never to jump in front of a car again. That was not fun." He tried to lighten the business-like mood.

"I'm sure." Souna pulled out a stack of papers. "Since your first doctor made the mistake of declaring you dead you were taken off the register so I'm going to need you to read and sign these documents."

"You got to be kidding me! This is going to take a long time!" He exclaimed looking over the stack. Souna had an expression that said I don't care. "Fine! Can I have a seat?" Saji slides one towards him and Issei sits down. About half an hour later Issei Issei finishes the stack and looks at the clock.

"Huh, guess it wasn't that much time. Here you go, is there anything else I need to do?" Issei slides the papers over to Souna.

"No that is it. If you hurry you can still make homeroom, your teacher will be expecting you." She taps the papers and puts them in a folder.

"Well, I guess I'll be on my way. Thank you very much." Issei heads out of the door and Saji looks at Souna.

"Kaichou?" He asks. "What are you thinking?"

"I think if he refuses Rias then maybe I'll try to invite him to my Peerage. There's a lot of untapped potential there." Sone said.

Issei got to his homeroom and knocked on the door. The teacher looked over and raised an eyebrow before coming over to open the door. She walked out into the hall and closed the door.

"You're already back? Didn't you just wake up last week?" She asked.

"Yeah, but the doctors cleared me and it's boring staying at home." Issei shrugged.

"Ok if you think you are up for it I'll reintroduce you to the class. But if you aren't feeling well just inform me." The teacher nodded before going back in.

"Class, today we have a returning student. Please make them feel at home." The teacher announced. The class was filled with whispers about the student. "You may enter." Issei walks on in.

"ZOMBIE!" Some of the students yell.

"Hey! That is uncalled for! The doctors made a mistake so I want none of that now!" The teacher yelled.

"Yeah, it's like she said I was just in a coma, sorry for scaring you all like that." Issei rubbed the back of his head.

'Well, today's been fun.' Issei thought with a roll of his eyes. Katase and Murayama were stuck doing club things so most of the people around him avoided him. He had explained multiple times he was no zombie and he was not going to try to eat them but that didn't convince his class. He had planned to leave but as he stood up a small figure appeared beside him.

"Senpai," Koneko spoke and nearly caused him to jump out of his skin.

"Ahhh!" He took a step back. "Oh, it's only you Koneko. Do you need something?"

"Yes, I was asked to bring you to the Occult Research Blub by Rias-Senpai." She nodded.

"Oh? I guess I can go, I have nothing else to do." Issei agreed. 'Rias huh I can guess what she wants.' He followed Koneko wondering whether or not he should agree. The old school building looked a lot better up close. He followed Koneko up the stair and to the club room. Like the rest of the building, the room looked like it came out of some old victorian movie.

"I hope you had no trouble getting here," Rias spoke from her desk. Akeno Himejima the other of the school's Great ladies stood by her holding a pot of tea. Issei couldn't help but to glance at her curves. "Please take a seat."

"Is this about what we discussed last time?" Issei asked choosing to sit next to Koneko on the couch. He eyed her but she didn't seem to be paying attention instead focusing on the treats in front of her. He smiled at that, hopefully, Rias wouldn't go into detail with other people here.

"Indeed. I would like to know your answer but first, we must wait for someone else." Rias nodded. 'Guess she means her brother.' Issei thought.

"Oh? Alright then." Issei said. "How long until they get here?"

"It shouldn't be much longer," Rias informed him. Shortly after the door opened and instead of Sirzechs Kiba Yuuto Kuohs "prince" came through the door.

"Hello, Buchou sorry for the delay," Kiba spoke up.

"That's fine Kiba. Please come over here." Rias stood from her desk and even Koneko stood up and went over. Once Akneo and Kiba made their way over Rias took a step forward and unfurled her wings. Shortly after the others did as well. 'What is my life now?' Issei nearly chocks on his tea.

"As you can see all of the members of the Occult Research Club are devils." Rias started speaking. "They are all precious members of my Peerage and I offer you the choice again. Issei Hyoudou will you join my Peerage?"

Koenma watched as the events unfolded he had his daily snack riding on Issei agreeing, so when someone ran into his office he wasn't happy. "What do you want Ogre?"

"Sir it's bad! The vault. The treasures!" Ogre was out of breath but continued. "They're gone!"

"What do you mean they're gone?!" Koenma yelled. He switched over to the security camera and saw the forlorn hope, orb of baast, and the shadow sword were all missing and all that was there was a black feather.

"My dads going to kill me." Koenma slumped into his chair.

AN: Most people are saying add Koneko and Rias to the Harem. I also see a vote for Botan as well as Asia and a few other DxD girls like Ingvild and Kiyome Abe. There are a few others as well.
