I can't believe someone actually said those words. Thank you so much Mai from Archiveonourown. As promised, here is the next chapter of this Digimon Frontier Fanfiction.

Please enjoy Chapter 2: Leap with the Winds, Kazemon!

During the battle between Takuya and Gorillamon

The Shibuya 199 is a department mall targeted toward young women. On the outside, it is a 164 feet tall tube-like building with a big sign that shows the number 199 at the top of the roof. On the inside, it houses 120 shops on over 10 floors and is the place where young ladies' fashion trends are born.

Each shop offers a cornucopia of hot items like apparel, footwear, bags, accessories, and much more at reasonable prices. They help bring new, up-and-coming fashion designers to light and give customers their unique styles. It is the reason why Shibuya 199 is the epitome of pop culture and fashion in Tokyo.

The place was usually filled with young girls and women shopping, but since being covered in fractal code, the building was completely empty. There were no customers or workers in sight, just the clothes and accessories being displayed until a girl burst through the front doors in a rush. It was Izumi Orimoto.

Izumi looked around the first floor hoping to find help only to put her head down in defeat. As expected, there was no one here. Like every other store and restaurant she passed through, there were no signs of people. What happened to them? Did they just disappear off the face of Japan?

The phones didn't work either. Izumi tried anyone who would answer only for it to go to voicemail or make a static sound on her cellphone. She was on her own.

Instead of going to another building, Izumi decided to stay and make her stand here. She heard what that gorilla said and knew the zombified lion was coming after her. The girl couldn't fight a Digimon without her spirit, so she needed another option. Luckily, she was in the Shibuya 199 store.

Even before she became a reader model, Izumi always liked to shop at the Shibuya 199 building. The girl knew almost every nook and cranny of the stores here which gave her the advantage. She had to work fast though.

Looking around the floor of the building, a plan started to form in her head. Working quickly, Izumi grabbed a fire extinguisher, a big mop bucket, a hatchet, and a few bottles of soap; and started to prep everything. As soon as everything was in position, a loud crash was heard at the front doors.

What used to be the entrance of Shibuya 199 now stood zombified lion with claws decaying the rocks and metal around him. MadLeomon finally caught up. "There you are!" He said looking at Izumi. "Time to die."

[Poison Claw] MadLeomon leaped at Izumi. His claws, filled with this eerie, black energy, aimed straight at her. Seeing as the metal the lion touched earlier just decayed and crumbled into nothing, it was not a good idea to be scratched by those claws.

Any normal person would have been shaking in fear, but Izumi was waiting for it. She just hoped her plan would work. The girl lifted her hatchet and brought it down on the lid of the fire extinguisher positioned earlier.

The lid broke off, and fine powder exploded out like a Mentos-filled soda bottle. The fire extinguisher flew out like a cannon heading straight toward MadLeomon. It hit him right in the head. The impact caused him to be disoriented a bit and land prematurely to stabilize himself.

Usually, the zombie lion would have no problem stepping on the ground for balance. Unfortunately though, what he currently stepped on was a wet, soapy floor.

Before MadLeomon crashed through the entrance, Izumi dumped the mop bucket filled with water to the floor until the whole area near the front doors was lightly covered in water. She then emptied the soap bottles causing the water to emit tiny bubbles. The floor was now a slippery wet zone.

As intended, MadLeomon slipped and fell. Using his earlier leap as momentum, he slid across the first-floor mall and crashed right into the perfume department. Glass bottles fell off the displays and broke on the ground.

The liquid spilled everywhere on MadLeomon and the whole shop. Strong aromas and scents assaulted the black lion's nose making his eyes water. Even Izumi could smell it from across the mall and had to cover her nose. That lion probably had enhanced senses too. She could imagine what pain he was feeling.

With MadLeomon distracted, Izumi ran toward the entrance of the mall but stopped. She initially wanted to regroup with Takuya and back him up, but what could she do? The girl would be more of a liability than help, but she didn't want to leave him alone either. It left her conflicted.

Suddenly something lightly jolted her, and the girl ran toward the elevators.

Crunch Crunch. The noise was coming from MadLeomon. He was slowly adapting to the mixtures of perfume, and coming to. It was time for Izumi to enact the final part of her plan.

Before getting in the elevator, the girl threw the hatchet but not at MadLeomon. The flying blade flew across the mall and hit the keypad for the security system on the wall.

The machine made a hissing sound before the alarm sounded. Soon after, red lasers shot out of the walls of the first floor. These weren't sensory lasers. These were military, lethal-grade lasers. A touch would leave a person with burns, cuts, and scars.

Izumi learned about this system one time when shopping for clothes during mall closing times and knew about the fail-safe activation if the controls were tampered with. She never understood why this mall needed such a dangerous security system, but right now, she was glad for it.

MadLeomon looked at the small red beams and laughed. "Puny human, do you think these things would stop me? How hysterical!" The black lion proceeded to walk through the tiny beams. It was not a good idea.

In normal circumstances, tiny laser beams would be able to hurt the Digimon but not by much. The lasers wouldn't penetrate his skin just leaving some burns. Even if he got his limb cut off by the laser, the lion was a zombie-type Digimon. He would just reattach and regenerate it. There was just one little detail.

MadLeomon was drenched in perfume. The liquid tends to be quite flammable. As soon as the lion touched the red beam, he lit up in flames like a Christmas tree. It didn't stop there. The fire spread out into the shop until the whole place turned into an inferno.

Just as the elevator doors closed, Izumi could hear MadLeomon's miserable screams in the distance. The girl couldn't help but nod her head. Using beauty products can be a painful experience.

The elevator was moving up to the top floor. Izumi put her back against the wall and let out a sigh of relief. MadLeomon was going to be preoccupied, so the girl had a breather for a moment.

As much as she wanted to reunite with Takuya, without her spirits, Izumi would do more harm by showing up. In the middle of her conflicting choices, she felt something calling her. It was coming from above. She didn't know why, but it felt familiar. This led her to decide to go to the elevators and head to the top floor. She just hoped that Takuya would be alright.

Thinking about the boy, Izumi couldn't help but smile. Her friend was completely hopeless. Why did he decide to go to another country to play soccer if he was completely inept at learning the language? She has been tutoring him for eight months and there was barely any progress.

It was a completely reckless choice. Izumi has always kept telling him to look before he leaps, but he never listens. Any normal person would have just given up on him, but the girl never did. Secretly, she always liked Takuya's passionate spirit and kinda enjoyed spending time with him even when he was annoying sometimes. She wondered why, but it was never a dull moment being with him.

The elevator doors opened, and Izumi walked to the highest floor in the building. Looking around the hall of small shops, she didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Closing her eyes, she started to focus on the calling.

It was still there coming from above. Since this was the highest floor in the building, there was only one place where it was coming from. Izumi quickly ran to the stairs and went even higher to the roof.

The lid to the roof should have been locked, but Izumi had no problems with it. The thing was already unlocked and could be easily opened. It was probably due to the laws of this fractal-covered world being different from the real thing.

Walking out to the roof, Izumi was met with the blowing wind. She was standing on the circular platform at the top of Shibuya 199 and could see the other tall buildings across. The girl took a moment to feel the wind blow through her hair. It felt amazing.

Even before she became the Legendary Warrior of Wind, Izumi always liked experiencing the moving winds. It felt like her worries were being carried away. When she was a Digimon, her attunement to the element was further increased.

She could see all kinds of colors from different types of winds. Zephys represented sky blue. Tailwinds looked orange. It wasn't just the colors either. She could also feel the sensation of those different wind variations, their appearances, and tunes.

Even now, Izumi could still feel some of the sensations whenever the wind blew. It made her happy that she was still connected to the Digital World even after the years go by. It always gave her nostalgia.

Taking in the feeling one last time, the girl ran toward the edge of the roof. Before she could investigate what was calling her, she had to make sure Takuya was alright. She looked in the direction of the Scramble Crossing hoping for the best and felt relieved.

In her sights were Gorillamon and red-armored Digimon. It was Agunimon! Izumi didn't know how, but Takuya must have managed to find his spirit here. That was great! Now they had a chance and judging from the fight, Agunimon was winning. If he regrouped with her after beating the ape, they might be able to survive this ordeal.

Just as Izumi finished this thought, the center of the roof suddenly exploded. Rocks and metal flew everywhere and left a hole in the center. Slowly, MadLeomon crawled out of it. He looked pretty bad.

His appearance was even darker than usual and some bald spots showed on his body. The black lion must've been too late to put out some of the flames. Izumi could smell the mixture of overdosed perfume and burnt hair from him.

"You are so dead, human!" Anger couldn't even begin to describe how MadLeomon was feeling. Just recently, the black lion was hit, drenched, and burnt by a weak, puny human, and she didn't even Digivolve. It was humiliating! Now, MadLeomon wanted to tear this girl limb by limb.

Izumi backed away until she was only a step from falling off the roof. There was no way to go or escape. She was trapped.

MadLeomon, noticing her predicament, smiled. Payback was coming. "Any last words, human?" He said.

At first, Izumi was scared not knowing what to do but then her eyes sharpened. She straightened her posture and stood her ground. "Take your best shot, you glorified, ugly kitty!" She said with no fear in her eyes.

[Beast Blaster] MadLeomon did not take the insult well and fired a spirit in the shape of a lion's head. The spirit crushed the concrete on the roof as it headed toward Izumi. This was an attack that bit and crushed anything in its way passing through. If Izumi took that attack, her bones would be crushed. MadLeomon grinned maliciously at the thought.

Izumi did the only thing that was available to her. Before the attack reached her, she turned and leaped off the building. Hard gravel crumbled and exploded where she was standing.

She free-fell down Shibuya 199 with debris and rocks following behind. Even if she didn't die from the fall, the falling rocks would finish the job. There seems to be no way to come out. Izumi should've been afraid, but she wasn't.

As the wind blew down her face, she could feel it. She could feel the mysterious being calling her. It was there, and it needed an answer. Judging from how Takuya turned into Agunimon, it was obvious who it was.

"Spirit!" Izumi yelled at the top of her lungs.

Just then, a bright, pink light shot down from the clouds and flew toward the Shibuya 199. It blew away the falling rocks in the way until it was near Izumi. Wind surrounded them stopping the girl's descent as the mysterious being grabbed her hand.

Sensing that the danger passed, Izumi opened her eyes to see who was her mysterious savior and couldn't help but smile. In front of her was a slightly transparent humanoid butterfly who was glowing pink. It was the human Spirit of the Wind!

"Izumi, รจ passato molto tempo." The Spirit of Wind said smiling. "Come stai?"

So many emotions ran through Izumi. This was her unforgettable partner in the Digital World. Although she wished the circumstances were better, she was happy to see her spirit once again. There were so many things to tell her, but Izumi didn't know where to start, so she settled with just one word. "Commozione..."

Something started to glow in Izumi's pocket. It was coming from her cellphone! Taking out the device, it started to warp and bend until it morphed into her lavender-pink Digivice. The Spirit of Wind then changed into her relic form and entered the Digivice. The symbol of Wind appeared.

It was time.

[Execute! - Spirit Evolution] A figure flew right back up toward the roof until she overlooked the whole thing. She had fair skin, long purple hair, silk-like butterfly wings, and wore a slightly revealing lavender outfit with a big waistband to cover her stomach, and a visor on her head. She looked like a beautiful fairy ready to ease people's worries.

Kazemon: The human Legendary Warrior of Wind whose main attacks are Tempest Twist and Hurricane Wave. It's a variable, fairy-type Digimon who is descended from the Ancient Warrior: AncientKazemon. Don't be fooled by her looks. She can send her opponent flying with just a dropkick.

"Human still must die!" MadLeomon looked at the butterfly with only a single-minded purpose to violently destroy on order. He didn't care if Izumi got her spirit or not. His body radiated energy.

[Beast Blaster] The black lion fired another attack at the butterfly. Kazemon moved to dodge and flew down at him. Her legs were positioned for a flying sidekick.

[Poison Claw] MadLeomon retaliated back and swiped out his right claw filled with toxic energy. Kazemon swerved slightly to the left avoiding the attack by an inch. Using her legs, Kazemon used MadLeomon's arm as a base, propelled over him, and landed behind him with her hands. She was now on the ground doing a handstand.

[Tempest Twist] Kazemon split her legs apart and pushed her hands on the ground in a circular motion. She started spinning with her legs still in the air and headed toward the black lion. As MadLeomon turned his head, he was met with a whirlwind kick to the right cheek. The force was so strong that he flew off the building. Before he did, however, he managed to grab Kazemon's left calf taking her with him. Now, both of them were falling.

"If I am going down," MadLeomon said with no fear of hurdling toward the ground. "I'm taking you with me." His grip was still tight on the butterfly.

Kazemon just looked at him like he was an idiot. They were now fighting in mid-air, and she was the Legendary Warrior of the Wind. It was pretty obvious who had the advantage.

[Roseo Temporale] Kazemon then unleashed rapid-fire machine-gun kicks at the black lion. Eyes, nose, ears-nothing was spared as she kept kicking. MadLeomon had to let go of her leg. Both her legs were now free and attacked him with double the force. She ended the attack with a backflip kick in the air and watched the black lion descend further down.

MadLeomon, disoriented as he was, started to shift his body weight toward the Shibuya 199 building. It would stop his descent if he could crash through the windows or grab something. It was better than hitting the ground. Unfortunately, Kazemon wasn't going to give him the chance.

[Hurricane Wave] Long, pink tornadoes appeared out of Kazemon's fingertips. With a wave of her hands, she threw the tornados at MadLeomon. The tiny tornados started to intertwine forming one strong wind wave. Once the attack landed on MadLeomon, he flew down like a bullet. He wouldn't be able to grab anything. All the black lion could do was wait for the inevitable.

MadLeomon crashed into the ground hard leaving a giant crater. Even if his physical modifications made him tolerant to most pain, he wasn't gonna get up after falling 50 meters off a building. The Digimon couldn't even move his fingers. The black lion slowly faded to black as fractal code appeared around him.

"Through a fresh wind, this Digivice will purify you into a beautiful and just soul!" Kazemon said flying down in front of MadLeomon with her Digivice in hand. "Fractal code, Digitize!"

She scanned her Digivice through the black lion's fractal code causing it to enter the device. As the last of the code left MadLeomon, his shadowy figure disappeared, and in his place was a black cat. The little guy looked around curious until he saw Kazemon.

"Meow," The black cat let out a mew at the butterfly before scampering off. Fractal code surrounded Kazemon until Izumi appeared. She looked at the running feline in confusion. Why did a black cat appear instead of a Digi-egg? First the the disappearing people and now this! The situation was getting stranger and stranger.

"Izumi!" Before the girl could delve any further, she heard someone say her name. It was Takuya. He was sprinting toward her.

"Takuya- oh" Izumi couldn't even finish her sentence as the boy hug her tight. The girl could feel his hands trembling on her back.

"You're okay..." Takuya whispered silently. He was really worried about her.

Izumi's eyes soften. Even when the gang lived in different areas coming back from the Digital World and could only chat on phone calls or emails, their friendship never weakened. If anything, it only made it more meaningful. Izumi was about to hug back when the boy pulled apart.

"How could you do something so stupid?!" Takuya reprimanded slightly angry.

"Excuse me!" Izumi replied offended by the insult. There goes the tender moment.

"Jumping off the roof of a building?" Takuya elaborated. "That was a completely reckless thing to do!"

"Well, it was either that or be chomped off by a lion." Izumi crossed her arms staring pointedly at her friend. "Besides, I don't want to hear about it from you!"

"What? Name one reckless thing I've done."

"How about five?" Izumi was not backing down and put her hands on her hips. "From last month."

Takuya didn't have a reply for that. He had to pause for a moment to remember what he just said. Did he just reprimand someone for being reckless? The boy chuckled and scratched the back of his hair. "Sorry, I guess I was a bit worried. You did fall off a building."

"I get it," Izumi said calming down. Seeing your friend fall off a tall building with falling rocks would make her worried too. "At least you know how I feel about your antics. I've been dealing with it for years around you."

"C'mon Izumi, I know you like it." Takuya smiled as he playfully elbowed his friend.

"You wish," Izumi replied lightly pushing his elbow away. Her face maintained a stoic expression. Inwardly though, she was trying not to smile. There were times when she did find her friend's antics amusing.

Even in this stressful situation, Takuya always had a way to lighten the mood and keep moving forward. They were just attacked by Digimon in the Real World for goodness sake, and he wasn't even phased by it! She wished she had his optimism. She was extremely worried about how were they going to get back to their world.

Just as her thought finished, fractal code surrounded the area once again covering the ground and buildings. It looks like their environment were about to change into something else.

Takuya grabbed Izumi's hand immediately. He did not want to be separated from her again. The girl did not reject him.

Both held their Digivices tightly ready for another battle. As fabrics of fractal code disappeared, the new sight left the duo surprised.

The buildings and sites were still the same, but the people were back. The recent ghost town of Shibuya returned to its normal, bustling state. The damages caused by the earlier battles all but disappeared. It was like it never happened.

Takuya and Izumi looked around in confusion. Were they really back? Was this really Shibuya, Japan?

"Mommy, Mommy Look! Those two people are holding hands!" A little girl nearby said with her mom looking at the pair. "Are they in love?"

"Let's not interrupt them, sweetheart." The mom replied pulling her daughter to the crosswalk.

In response to that question, Takuya and Izumi both got flustered and let go of each other hands. They were back. They were definitely back.

"Sorry," Takuya said. His face turned to avoid his friend's line of sight.

"I- It's fine. I understand why you did it." Izumi replied trying to ignore her flustered expression and looked at her cell phone.

When the fractal code left, their Digivices glowed and transformed back into cellphones. Looking at it, she wondered if she imagined it all. Was it even real? Was I dreaming?

The symbol of wind appeared on the screen of the phone followed by the picture of Kazemon. Okay, it wasn't a dream. Whatever was going on though, the Digital World must be in trouble again.

Although it has been years since she's been there, the place was still a second home to her and her friends. If it was in trouble, Izumi was going to do everything in her power to help.

She looked at the picture of Kazemon intently and smiled. It was good to have her partner back. The Spirit of Wind was like a part of her and a dear friend.

"Takuya..." Izumi said getting his attention. A thought suddenly occurred to her. "If we were able to get our spirits and got attacked by Digimon, wouldn't that mean..?"

At first, the boy didn't understand what Izumi was getting at but everything clicked into place as his eyes widened. "The others!"

Takuya quickly tapped into the contacts on his phone trying to call Tomoki or Kouji. The spirits were back, and Digimon were attacking. They had to let their friends know and warn them.

Izumi did the same with Junpei and Koichi. After 7 years, something was once again stirring around them. She just hoped her other friends were okay and that it wasn't too late.

Looks like Takuya and Izumi were able to fight off their battles, but what about the others? Who will the Digimon strike next? I could tell you guys, but that would ruin the story so sit tight. I'll get the next chapter ready for everyone next month. Eat some ice cream or frozen yogurt until then.

I hope you guys are enjoying the story so far. Please rate and review to let me know what you think.
