Hello! I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Also, to everyone who saw the commission picture of LanSoni, I thank you all for liking it and the creator who made it for me! ^_^

Now, this one-shot is related to my commission picture, featuring Sir Lancelot and Sonic as a merhog. I hope you all like it!

The feeling of running through an open field felt great. He could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins, as he sped past some grass and was careful not to ruin any flowers in his path. Their sweet scent wafted through the air, and his nostrils picked up the scent of daisies.

"Knave! Return to the palace at once!"

Oh yeah, he forgot that he wasn't alone. Strapped to his back was his sword Caliburn, better known as Excalibur. It had been days ever since he saved Camelot and became the new King Arthur. Merlina was under house arrest as punishment for nearly destroying Camelot, but the knights believed she should've been given a harsher sentence.

However, Sonic refused to give her death or imprison her for life. Instead, she must only use her magic for good and to help rebuild the city. If she can do that, then he'll think about lifting her house arrest. He and his knights assisted in rebuilding Camelot, and the citizens did not mind the extra help.

Once Camelot had been fully restored, a ceremony was held to crown Sonic the new King Arthur. After that, he got straight to work on restoring the kingdom, following up on the laws mandated, and making sure they maintain a peaceful relationship with other nations. Along with the paperwork and constant nagging from the council, Sonic couldn't leave the castle without being escorted by one of his knights.

"Your majesty, the elders wish to have a meeting with you."

"Sire, you mustn't leave the castle without an escort."

"My king, is there anything you wish for me to do?"

He couldn't stand still anymore, and had to get out. Luckily, he figured out a way to distract his knights by giving them a task in finding something he needed in the village square. He asked his knights to bring him a bouquet of bellflowers, lavender, and hibiscus. Obeying his commands, the knights did as what they were told without question.

Once he was certain the coast is clear, he snuck out of the throne room, got out of the royal uniform, gagged Caliburn so he wouldn't alert anyone of his escape, placed him on his holster, and dashed out of the palace through a secret tunnel. Once he made it outside the castle walls beyond to where the valley is, he let himself run free, following where the wind takes him.

"You already had your fun! Now it's time to return to the palace and resume your kingly duties!"

Sonic rolled his eyes in annoyance. "I'm taking a short break, Caliburn. Plus, they believe I'm taking a nap in my chambers."

"The palace maids won't believe it once they find no trace of you in your chambers!" Caliburn scolded him. "I do not know what you are thinking, but you must stop this nonsense and-

"Hey look! It's a cool looking waterfall!"

"Are you listening to me!?"

Sonic ignored his rants, as he stopped near a huge waterfall flowing from a high cliff. Somehow, he stumbled upon an unknown area deep in the middle of the forest, far from the valley. Surprisingly, seeing the huge waterfall didn't scare him, even though he isn't a fan of swimming. But what he did like is seeing how majestic and powerful it is while seeing a cascade of water falling into a plunge pool, surrounded by slippery rocks.

A rainbow appeared from the misty waters, reflected from the light to create a picturesque scene in the area. It truly captivated Sonic, as he ignored Caliburn's tirade and proceeded to explore every part of the area. His eyes spotted something in the distance, and he dashed over to see what it is. Hidden behind the waterfall is a cave, and Sonic's curiosity got the best of him as he rushed over to investigate.

As he stepped inside the cave, he let himself walk since it wasn't too dark in here. The further he walked, the darker it became. He heard Caliburn telling him to turn around and go back, but he couldn't stop walking further inside, almost as if something is calling for him. His eyes spotted a bright light distance, and he ran over to it. Soon, he ended up in a cavern, revealing a crystal blue pool shaped as a circle at the center.

There was light shining down from the ceiling, revealing an open hole where you can see the sun or the moon reflecting on the pool. This left Sonic and Caliburn in awe, wondering if anyone had ever been here before. Did no one ever discover this place? If they're the first ones to have find it, then it must be a sacred area.

"Have you ever seen anything like this, Caliburn?" Sonic asked his sword.

"Not at all, knight of the wind," Caliburn answered, getting himself out of the holster so he can stand near Sonic. "I have heard of many secret locations left undiscovered, but this is the first time I have seen this area."

"Looks like we're the first ones to find this place," Sonic crouched down, touching the water with his finger.

"It is best we keep this secret to ourselves. No one must ever know about this place, or this type of beauty can be destroyed by thieves," Caliburn warned him.

"Agreed," Sonic stood up.

When he took a small step forward to get a closer look at the pool, he ended up slipping on something, causing him to fall inside. He freaked out when he felt himself sinking, causing him to flap his arms and legs as he struggled to rise back up to the surface. Then, his eyes widened when the waters started to shine brightly, nearly blinding him as he felt his body starting to change.

A star-shaped accessory is pinned to the side of his quills, along with a string of pearls wrapped around his biceps and neck. A sparkling blue strap wrapped tightly around his chest, and his legs transformed into a blue fish tail with sparkling white gills. Flapping his tail up and down helped him reach the top faster, causing his head to pop out of the surface as he took in a deep breath, panting heavily with a relieved look.

He looked over, seeing that Caliburn had a stunned expression on his face. Sonic arched his eyebrow at him. "You okay?"

Caliburn shook out of his stupor, shouting in astonishment. "W-What on earth had happened to you, knave!?"

Sonic looked down at his new appearance. "To tell you the truth, I have no idea."

Swimming over to the edge, he used both his arms to push himself up and sit, revealing his blue tail floating in the water. "I think I turned into a merhog."

"I'm sorry!? What!?"

"You know? A hedgehog who became a mermaid or merman depending on-

"Do you mean a siren?"

"I don't know if my voice is powerful enough to become a siren."

"Never mind! We must get you out of here and over to the Lady of the Lake! There must be something she can do!"

"Except we have a problem," Sonic pointed to his tail. "I don't have my legs anymore. I can't run, and you're the only one here with me."

Caliburn jumped in anger. "This is why you should always have an escort with you! If you're not at the kingdom before sunset, everyone will believe something had happened to you!"

"Chill out! I can check and see if there's an exit down here!" Sonic jumped back inside the pool, ignoring Caliburn's outbursts as he swam further down. He spotted a tunnel in the corner, which is big enough for him to fit. Swimming back up to the surface, he grabbed his sword and held it firm in his grip. "I found an exit! Hold your breath so we can get out of here!"

Rising up from the surface, Sonic was surprised that he wasn't out of breath after being in the water. Looks like being a merhog gives him the ability to breathe underwater, and he doesn't feel frightened after being in the water for too long. Is it due to becoming a merhog that helped him take on his fear? If so, then he should think about using that idea to help his aquaphobia in the future.

Placing Caliburn on solid ground so he could breathe easier, Sonic looked around and realized they were at the enchanted lake, home to the Lady of the Lake known as Nimue. The tunnel led them to her lake, which surprisingly, didn't take too long to get here. Is it possible she knows about the magic pool in the cavern?

Before he could think any further, his ears picked up on light footsteps approaching him, causing him to turn his head to see the person they were looking for. "Nimue!"

Caliburn stood up on the ground. "Address her appropriately, knave!"

Nimue placed her hand up. "It is alright, mighty Excalibur. I know what you all came for." Giving them a serene smile, she used her magic to pick up Sonic and gently place him on a chair made of solid stone. "It seems you have discovered the Moon Pool, correct?"

"Moon Pool?" Sonic tilted his head, then his eyes widened in realization. "You mean that pool we found in the cavern?"

Caliburn's eyes widened in shock. "My lady, are you referring to the legendary Moon Pool!? That was what we saw!?"

Nimue smiled and nodded her head, sitting on a stone chair across from Sonic. "King Arthur, what you and Excalibur have discovered within the waterfall is the Moon Pool, said to be made from magical moon water with the rare ability to turn someone into a creature. The powers of the moon water can transform anyone depending on their soul."

She folded her hands on her lap. "Because you have such a pure and kind soul, the moon water gifted you with the form of a rare siren."

"You mean like a merhog?" Sonic questioned.

"That as well," Nimue lightly giggled. "This form truly brings out the inner beauty of your soul."

"T-Thanks," Sonic blushed. "B-But how long do I remain like this?"

"Until midnight approaches. As of right now, you will remain in this form until the new day arrives."

"So it's only temporary?"

"I'm afraid not. Since you touched the moon water under the light, you now have the ability to transform into a merhog. When you touch water, you'll transform into one and won't have your legs back until midnight arrives."

"The king is stuck with this ability for all eternity!?" Caliburn shouted in astonishment. "It cannot be true!"

Nimue sadly smiled. "I'm afraid what I say is true. The only way for him to no longer become a siren is if he is in the moon pool during a solar eclipse. He will lose his abilities to transform forever."

Sonic furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "What about the lunar eclipse?"

"You can only lose your abilities temporarily."

Caliburn looked at the ground in thought. "The next solar eclipse is 2 years away. It'll be impossible to wait that long!"

Sonic sighed, flickering his tail. "Guess I'm stuck in this form forever."

Nimue gave him a comforting smile. "Do not be sad, my king. Tis a gift from the moon spirit."

"Remind me to give the moon spirit a thank you gift for her present," Sonic said, then gasped. "Aw shoot! How do I tell the knights about this!?"

"There's no need. He already knows," Nimue turned her head. "You may come out now. I know you're there, my child."

Confused on what she meant, Sonic gasped when a figure stepped out from hiding behind the trees. The person lifted his visor to reveal his ruby red eyes, donned in his knight gear as his eyes flickered over to Nimue. "Apologies for eavesdropping, mother. I was curious on what is going on."

"You are forgiven, my little raindrop," Nimue smiled sweetly at him.

Lancelot nodded, then his eyes gazed onto Sonic's new appearance, as he cautiously approached him. He stopped a few feet away from him, then got down on one knee as he bowed. "My king, I seal my lips and swore to never breathe a soul about this to anyone. If I dare break this vow, I'll cut off my own tongue and endure the pain!"

Sonic shook his hands frantically. "Whoa, don't do that! I know that you won't tell anyone! I trust you a lot, Lance!"

"Bless you for your compassion, my lord. I'll never break your trust."

"As long as you promise never to hurt yourself, then I forgive you."

"I'll do whatever you wish, sire."

"Good!" Sonic looked up at the sky. "It's starting to get dark. Can you help me sneak my way back inside the castle without being discovered?"

"Certainly, your majesty," Sir Lancelot stood back up. "Permission to assist you?"

"With pleasure!"

Lancelot carefully placed one arm around Sonic's back, while the other is placed under his knees, and then scooped him up as he held Sonic like a bride. Sonic hugged his neck, letting his cheek rest against Lancelot's shoulder as he glanced over at Nimue. "Thank you for telling me this, Lady Nimue. Can I come back here again tomorrow?"

"You are welcome, your majesty. You are free to come visit me anytime," Nimue curtsied.

Lancelot bowed. "Thank you, mother."

"You're welcome, my child."

Caliburn placed himself on Lancelot's holster, glad there is enough room for him while close to Arondight. "Make haste, Knight of the Lake. We must arrive before dusk."

"Hold on tight, mighty Excalibur," Sir Lancelot said, and used his armored boots to dash into the forest.

Lancelot ran at a steady pace, making sure he held Sonic safely in his arms, while Caliburn remained safely in his holster with his sword. As for Sonic, he continued to hug Lancelot's neck as he looked at him. "Hey Lance?"

"Yes, my lord?" Sir Lancelot asked, keeping his gaze focused on the path.

"Do you think my merhog form is a little odd?"

"Not at all, sire."

"You're not freaked out that I have a tail?"

"Your form is a blessing from the moon spirit. To me, it is the greatest gift anyone could receive."

"You really think so?"

"Absolutely, my king. I would never lie to you."

Blushing a little with a dopey grin on his face, Sonic hugged Lance's neck, rubbing his cheek affectionately against his. "Thank you, Lance! I'm lucky to have a kind and amazing knight like you by my side!"

Lancelot felt his cheeks heating up, but felt a small smile stretch on his lips. "Anything for you, my lord."

As Sonic continued to rub his cheek against Lance's, Sir Lancelot is busy thinking of pure thoughts and focusing on getting back to the castle. He thanked the gods for being the first and only knight to see his king in his new form. He had no idea the king would look so stunning as a merhog/siren, especially with how close they are. The blue sparkling top shimmers brightly, matching his beautiful tail.

The color matches the king's cobalt fur, and his emerald eyes dazzled brightly that can make the other jewelry dull in comparison. Not only that, but he is also holding his beloved king in his arms, and his king did not mind the physical contact. Plus, his king is giving him affection by nuzzling his cheek, like a kitten wanting love and attention. It made Sir Lancelot's heart thumping rapidly against his ribcage.

"Sonic of the Wind, stop that atrocious behavior at once!" Caliburn scolded him. "A king should never do that to his knight!"

Sonic waved him off, still rubbing his cheek against Lance's. "Shouldn't you be giving Arondight your love and affection for him?"

"H-How dare you!"

"You still need to give him a flower to show how important he is to you. In fact, you can give him a lavender flower since they have a relaxing scent."

"Do not change the subject, knave!"

"No time to argue with you. Right now, I want to continue to nuzzle with my precious Sir Lancelot, whom I love with all my heart!"

"HOW DARE YOU BE SO SCANDALOUS IN FRONT OF ME!?"

Sir Lancelot felt his face heating up, as he took small and deep breaths to calm his rapid beating heart. He must remember his duties as a knight. This is no time for him to drop his guard, no matter how adorable his king is. For now, he can just let his thoughts ponder while maintaining his focus.

"To whomever answered my prayers – thank you."
