Since one person replied on having a sequel to Moon Pool, here is part 2. Also, the idea came from the series H2O. Enjoy!
Sonic placed the book in the pile and picked out another one, sitting cross-legged on the ground with a stack of books laid out in front of him. Weeks after Merlina was able to return him back to his world from Camelot, the memories of his time there lingered in his mind. His heart ached when he had to leave everyone, especially his beloved knight.
However, he did not belong to Camelot. He belonged to his own world. The world where his friends are: Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Team Chaotix, Team Dark, and everyone he knew of.
"I will never forget you, my king."
He rubbed his eyes, stopping them from leaking as he recalled his painful goodbye with Sir Lancelot. Even though he resembled Shadow, Sir Lancelot's personality is a whole lot different, especially when he's around Sonic. The more they spent time together, the closer their relationship changed from king and knight to star-crossed soulmates.
Sonic lifted the visor, revealing Sir Lancelot's face. "My heart will never stop loving you, my loyal knight."
He cupped his knight's face and pressed his lips firmly against his own, letting himself get lost to the sensation as both he and Sir Lancelot embraced each other, releasing all of their love and passion in their kiss while ignoring the outside world. They didn't care how long it lasted, because this is the last time they'll ever get to kiss like this.
A kiss goodbye.
"Someday, I'll see you again," Sonic whispered, flipping through the pages with the book in his lap.
Sadly, he had nearly forgotten about his ability to transform into a merhog. The solar eclipse would not come for another 2 years in Camelot, and he couldn't stay there for that long since Merlina used her magic to bring him back to his real home. Thankfully, he was able to get his legs back as long as he dries his tail with a cloth, rag, towel, or his newfound powers he discovered after training with Nimue.
He was able to get a lot more information about his abilities, his powers, the legend of the Moon Pool, transforming whenever he touches any type of liquid, and what can happen during the eclipse while in the moon pool.
"I must warn you," Nimue stated in a serious manner. "When you look directly at the full moon or in the reflection of any sort, you will be bewitched by its mesmerizing gaze. It can cause your powers to become out of control or temporarily turn you into a Siren."
"You mean like a spell?" Sonic asked.
"Correct. However, you are still undergoing the first phase of your new abilities, and we cannot take any risks. Heed my warning, your majesty. Make sure the Knights of the Round Table are aware of this so they can help you."
Luckily, Sir Lancelot helped Sonic explain to Sir Percival and Gawain about his new powers, and they surprisingly weren't shocked about it. Either they're very good at hiding their emotions, or are use to Sonic's crazy shenanigans.
Though the time he actually did look at the full moon, it brought him closer to Sir Lancelot, strengthening their relationship while also making sure no one knew of his alluring voice when he sung like a Siren.
Sonic felt his face heating up, recalling how steamy their make-out session on the night of the full moon. It didn't turn physical, since they were both new in starting a relationship. Their physical contacts usually resort to holding hands, hugging, or when Lance carries Sonic like a bride whenever he's in his merhog form.
"He's definitely sweeter compared to Shadow," Sonic whispered to himself, grabbing another book.
Right now, he's at the library researching all the books they have related to mermaid mythology or anything significant about the moon pool. Sadly, all the information is the same and there isn't anything new related to his transformation. Even the fairy tale novels of The Little Mermaid didn't help either.
Ever since he returned home, he had to be extra careful not to encounter water. The public can never know of his secret, not even his friends and little brother. Amy didn't believe his story on why he was late for their little date, and there's no way he was gonna give his little brother a heart attack once he sees that his big brother, the one who hates water, can turn into a merhog.
For now, don't let anyone see him transform and figure out if there's a moon pool anywhere in the world that can help him remove his merhog form. He learned from Tails that a total solar eclipse will occur this year next month, which meant that he has only 1 month to find a moon pool similar to the one in Camelot and not let his secret be discovered.
"Attention, please! The library will be closing in 15 minutes!"
Sonic lifted his head to see the head librarian Miss Gardner, an elderly brown cat with glasses, was the one who made the announcement. Checking the old grandfather clock, he saw it was 5:45 pm, indicating the library will be closing at 6 p.m. Deciding to continue his research tomorrow, Sonic used his super speed to quickly put all the books away in the correct spot, and quietly left the library without being spotted.
He then sprinted all the way home, over to where Tails' lab is. Tonight is their movie night, and he promised his little brother that they would watch a documentary about planes, which mostly intrigued Tails while Sonic isn't a fan of documentaries unless the subject is interesting.
"Note to self. Do not teach Tails or anyone about the puppy dog look," Sonic said, mostly to himself.
Finally reaching the lab in less than 5 minutes, he barged in with the spare key hidden under the welcome mat, closed the door behind him, and went to the garage where he found his brother cleaning the Tornado. "Hey bud!"
Tails turned his head, giving him a small wave. "Hi Sonic! You're right on time!"
"Sure am! Ready for movie night?"
"Totally! But first, you need a bath because you're covered in dirt."
Sonic looked down at himself, realizing he was right. "You're right about that. I'll be down in a jiffy."
Sprinting upstairs to the bathroom, Sonic removed his dirty garments, filled the tub with warm water, added some soap for some bubbles to appear, his favorite rubber duckies, and carefully stepped inside the tub. Once he sat down, his appearance changed when he saw his legs turning into a blue tail.
Taking a few deep breaths, he let himself relax as he dipped his head inside the water and quickly came out, shaking his head rapidly like a wet dog. Using his bare paws to wipe away the soap in his eyes, he let out a small sigh of relief as he rested against the bathtub.
Usually, he would take a quick shower, but not anymore since he has a tail. Even if he cleans himself up, he could fall in the shower and the noise can alert Tails, who would come in here and see if he's okay. For now, taking a bath would do and it isn't too bad since he's slowly getting use to the water as a merhog.
Sonic saw his tail flicker, as he poked at a bubble. "I sure hope it'll stay this way once I'm back to my normal self again."
Then, the door to the bathroom opened as Tails stepped inside with some towels in his hands. "I brought fresh towels for you! I forgot to put them in the bathroom after I washed them and-
He stopped when he saw Sonic in his merhog form taking a bath, causing him to drop the towels with a stunned expression on his face.
"You're saying this happened when you were transported into a different world, slipped into a pool filled with magical moon water hidden in a cavern, transformed into a mermaid, gained abilities related to that transformation, and you're stuck with these powers forever?" Tails summarized.
Sonic sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "That's the whole story, buddy."
"Now I know you didn't make it all up, especially after seeing the evidence."
"Along with my transformation when you saw my legs returning."
Tails rubbed his chin. "I can see why you didn't tell me. It would be hard to believe that my older brother, the hedgehog who can't swim, can transform into a merhog."
"Don't remind me," Sonic folded his arms, letting himself relax on the couch. "You're the only one here who knows about my secret. I'm not ready to tell the others about this."
"Take your time, Sonic. It's a lot to process, but I'm sure they'll understand," Tails sat next to him and patted his shoulder.
"Amy didn't believe my story, and Knuckles won't believe that the moon spirit from Camelot is a doppelganger of Chaos."
"Are there really alternate doppelgangers of us from the King Arthur novel?"
"Oh yeah. You were the Blacksmith who forged new weapons and helped them hone their skills."
"Just like my inventions!" Tails happily replied. "Was I really cool!?"
"Extremely cool," Sonic grinned, giving him a thumbs up. "But back to my situation, I can't let anyone else know about my secret, especially Eggman."
"You're right about that. Eggman could exploit it or find it as a weakness to capture you."
"G.U.N. can never know either, so Team Dark is out."
"We'll wait until you're ready to tell the others. But in the meantime, we'll need to make sure you do not get in contact with any forms of liquids."
"Which means no pools, beaches, or getting splashed by anything," Sonic listed.
Tails nodded. "We also need to test your powers, and I think I know a good place to test them at."
"Chao! Chao! Chao!" the Chao's happily chirped as they gathered around Sonic & Tails.
Sonic got down on one knee and patted their heads. "The Chao Garden?"
"Yup!" Tails petted a chao flying next to him. "Since the Chao have a connection with Chaos, whom you mentioned as the alternate doppelganger of the moon spirit, maybe their water here could help enhance your abilities."
"I don't know, Tails. What if my powers might hurt them?"
"They won't. Your powers can be used for protection."
"My water and ice powers can, but not the fire one."
"You mean hydrokinesis, hydro-cryokinesis, and hydro-thermokinesis?"
"Let's just call them hydro powers."
"Whatever works for you."
Arriving at the pond where the other Chao's are swimming or splashing water at each other, Sonic looked around to make sure the coast is clear. Once he's sure they're safe with no one around except for him and Tails, Sonic removed his shoes and socks, placed them on the grass near a huge boulder, and slowly placed his feet in the pond.
When he did that, he took deep breaths to keep himself relaxed as he felt himself transforming. Now in his merhog form, the Chao's stopped what they were doing and stared at Sonic in awe. Sonic's chao, whom he named Breeze, happily chirped as it flew around in excitement, admiring his new form and touching his tail.
Soon, the other Chao's did the same, cuddling near Sonic and touching his tail, wanting to get a closer look. Chuckling, Sonic hugged Breeze and petted a chao resembling Tails resting on his lap. "Guess we'll have to wait on our training. I think the chao want to see more of my new appearance."
Tails laughed a little, feeling his cheek being nuzzled by a pink chao. "You're right about that."
"Chao! Chao! Chao!"
"Chao! Chao! Chao!"
"Holy moly! This isn't a dream!"
Sonic turned his head, paling as he recognized a small bunny and small honeybee with a blue and brown chao gaping at them from the distance. Tails got in front of Sonic and spread his arms out to shield him, hoping they wouldn't see him.
"I-I'm afraid you're mistaken! T-This is all just a bad dream!" Tails rapidly shook his arms. "A-All of you go back home and get to bed!"
Cream, who was stunned for a moment, suddenly changed her expression into pure delight, letting out the biggest squeal in the world as she rushed over with incredible speed. Dodging Tails' attempt to stop her, Cream stopped near Sonic and inspected him from head to toe, happily jumping in joy as her eyes sparkled in amazement.
"Mermaids are real! I knew my wish would come true!" Cream jumped into Sonic's arms, hugging him tightly. "Now I know why you don't like water, Mr. Sonic! You become a mermaid if you go into the water, right!?"
Gently smiling down at her, Sonic hugged her back. "How did you know?"
"I read a lot of books about mermaids, Mr. Sonic! Every single one that mama read to me!" Cream smiled wide with her eyes still sparkling.
"You're a very smart girl, Cream."
"Thank you, Mr. Sonic! And you're so pretty!"
"Aw, thanks. That's really kind of you to say that."
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese & Chocola nuzzled his cheeks, causing Sonic to laugh.
As for Charmy, he was busy inspecting Sonic from head to toe, then poked Sonic's tail. "How come we've never seen your fish tail before?"
Tails was the first to speak. "Before Sonic can answer any of your questions, all of you must understand that this is a serious matter and no one else can ever know about him being a merhog!"
This caught Cream and Charmy's full attention, recognizing Tails' serious tone. Glad that he got their attention, Tails continued. "We're still fully understanding on what happened to Sonic, but his secret as a merhog can never be known by anyone, so do not say a word about this to anyone!"
He placed both his hands on his hips. "Now that the 4 of you saw his merhog form, this must be kept a secret. No one can ever see him as a merhog, because doing that can put Sonic in danger. Remember, Dr. Eggman is still our enemy, and we cannot let him know about Sonic's secret. If you 4 are willing to keep this a secret with a pinky swear, then you can help me keep Sonic safe. Is that fine?"
"Yes!"
"I pinky swear!"
"Chao! Chao!"
Sonic raised his hand in the air. "Does this mean you 3 are my bodyguards?"
Tails gave him a thumbs up. "That's right! Say hello to Team Defenders!"
"Are all the windows covered?"
"Yes they are!"
"Chao! Chao!"
"Great! What about all the items resembling the moon?"
"I already covered them up!"
"Excellent. Any mirrors or reflections?"
"Nope!"
"Great! Tonight, our mission shall end up in success!" Tails pumped his fist in the air.
"Hooray!" Cream, Charmy, Cheese, and Chocola cheered.
Sonic chuckled at their enthusiasm. "You never did told me what your mission is for today."
Tails beamed at him. "Operation 'Do Not Let Sonic See The Full Moon'."
"Is that why all of you decided to have a sleepover here at the lab?"
"We decided that for your safety, we will meet up once a month on the day a full moon arrives, and make sure you don't lose control of yourself."
Cream nodded. "Mama gave me permission to spend the night here."
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese & Chocola chirped.
"Vector and Espio told me not to break anything while I'm here, but I'm always careful!" Charmy pouted, kicking his legs in the air as he flew with his arms crossed.
"Is that why all of our windows and mirrors are covered up?" Sonic questioned.
Tails nodded. "We can't let you see the full moon, or you'll be put under its trance. Who knows what would happen if you saw it."
"Something you don't wanna know," Sonic yawned, stretching his arms toward the ceiling. "Now that everything is covered up, we should start on making dinner."
"I already put the pizza in the oven. It should be done right about…"
A ding was heard in the kitchen.
"It's ready!" Tails hurried to the kitchen.
"Mama said you must always wear oven mitts if you're touching something hot from the oven!" Cream called out, rushing to him.
"I'll inspect the pizza!" Charmy flew into the kitchen.
"I'm gonna go wash up real quick in the bathroom. Be right back," Sonic patted Cheese & Chocola, then rushed upstairs to the bathroom.
Once he got there, he turned on the faucet. Water already filled up the sink, and Sonic saw a reflection in it. Eyes widening to see what it is, he looked around the bathroom and saw that a small window on the top is left uncovered, revealing a huge shiny white full moon. Sonic stood still, as the image of the full moon reflected on his green eyes.
He slowly turned over to where the sink is and touched the water, feeling his gloved hands getting wet. As he turned off the faucet, he left the bathroom and walked downstairs to where Cheese & Chocola are, playing with a couple of plush toys Cream brought over for the sleepover.
"Chao!" Cheese greeted.
Sonic tilted his head, then gently scooped up Cheese & Chocola as he sat down on the couch and hugged them close to his body. As he opened his mouth, a beautiful soothing melody escaped from his lips as he cradled the chao, like a parent cradling their baby. Cheese & Chocola cooed as they snuggled close to Sonic, who continued to sing his enchanting song.
Tails quickly came out of the kitchen, gasping to see Sonic singing to the chao. Then, his eyes spotted Sonic's wet hands. "His hands are wet but there's no tail?"
Cream placed both hands on her cheeks as a sweet smile stretched her lips. "I didn't know Mr. Sonic has a lovely singing voice. It sounds just like my mama's voice whenever she sings me to sleep."
Charmy was silent, as he continued to listen to Sonic's enchanted singing voice. He flew closer to where he is, under a trance as Sonic brought him close so he could join the hug, cuddling with the chao as he stared at Sonic in awe.
Realizing what's happening, Tails got out some earplugs and placed them in his own, Cream's, Charmy's, and dragged them away from Sonic and over to the front yard, shutting the door behind him. Once he's certain that they can't hear his voice, Tails removed the earplugs. "Sonic turned into a siren!"
Cream removed her earplugs. "A siren?"
"What's that?" Charmy asked, also removing his earplugs.
"According to a mythology book I once read, sirens have powerful alluring voices that can lure sailors into the waters," Tails recalled. "Female sirens attract males, while the male sirens attract females. However, its unheard of for a siren to attract children."
Tails looked at the sky, realizing its already dark and the full moon is out. "I know we covered all the windows! How did Sonic saw the full moon!?"
Before he could get an answer, his communicator started beeping on his wrist. He pressed the screen to answer. "Hello?"
"Tails! Thank goodness you answered!" Amy said on the call.
"What's wrong, Amy?"
"Eggman is wrecking the city with his giant crazy robot! Knuckles and I are holding it off, but we need you and Sonic!"
"We're on our way, Amy!" Tails ended his call, then looked at his friends. "Okay, I need you two to stay here with Sonic. Do not let him wander off nor go outside."
"Wait! Let us help you defeat that mean Eggman!" Charmy pleaded.
Tails shook his head. "It's too dangerous. You and Cream-
"Then let me come with you! Cream can stay and guard Sonic!"
"Now hold on-
"It's okay, Tails!" Cream replied. "Me, Cheese, and Chocola will stay with Mr. Sonic. You two please save the city and people from the mean doctor!"
Seeing how they're firm on their stand, Tails groaned as he complied. "Fine, but remember not to let Sonic know about our whereabouts. And Charmy, stay by my side so we can help the others!"
"Got it!" Cream & Charmy replied in unison.
Tails smiled a little. "Let's do this, Team Defenders!"
Evil laughter echoed in the city as Dr. Eggman ordered his giant robot to destroy everything in its path. "Go, Death Egg! Unleash your full potential at your foes!"
Death Egg beeped, launching laser beams and swinging its arms to destroy the buildings. Many citizens fled in fear while a few stayed to fight it. Amy swung her hammer at it, and Knuckles used his fists to destroy its parts. Team Dark arrived to assist them and unleashed their abilities at the Death Egg.
A missile was launched at the Death Egg, hitting its arm as the others saw who did that. Amy turned her head and her eyes lit up. "Right on time, Tails!" She then realized who was with him. "Charmy? And where is my Sonic?"
"It's a long story, and he is unable to make it due to a nasty cold he has!" Tails brought out his blaster. "Charmy is gonna help us beat that robot!"
"With my powerful stinger!" Charmy cheered.
"You better hope it works because Eggman's robot isn't giving up!" Knuckles launched another punch to make a dent on the Death Egg. "And what do you mean Sonic has a cold!? It never stops him from beating Eggman!"
Rouge landed next to him. "Guess we'll be saving the day without big blue."
Shadow rolled his eyes, landing on top of a wrecked car near them. "I doubt the hedgehog would go one day without fighting the doctor or his robots."
"DESTROY THE TARGET. ENEMY MUST BE DESTROYED," Omega fired explosive rounds at the Death Egg.
In retaliation, the Death Egg lifted up its robot leg and slammed it down hard on the ground, unleashing a shockwave that blew everyone away. As they were all thrown against a building and anywhere near them, Dr. Eggman cackled with an evil grin.
"Seems like the blue rodent isn't arriving today. Well, no matter. He'll definitely come once he sees me destroy you all!"
The Death Egg was about to launch another attack, but then froze. The others were wondering what it was doing, while Dr. Eggman is confused on why his machine stopped. "What do you think you're doing!? End them at once!"
Suddenly, ice started to form on the Death Egg, covering every part of it until it was frozen solid. Eggman and the others were surprised, but then gasped when it was suddenly engulfed in flames.
"What's happening!? Why are you on fire!?" Dr. Eggman used his egg mobile to move around. "I made sure you were designed perfectly with no errors!"
He quickly moved his egg mobile away when the fire got bigger, but it then vanished. Death Egg was covered in dark charcoal, and it suddenly fell to the ground. Amy and the others prepared for an attack, but all they heard was silence from the Death Egg.
Omega scanned the robot, then looked at his team. "DEATH EGG IS DESTROYED. IT IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING."
"My Death Egg!" Dr. Eggman roared in fury, then his eyes spotted a figure standing on the rooftop. Snarling, he made his egg mobile fly upwards to where the figure is. "Now you finally show your face, you meddling rat!? Did you do something to my Death Egg!?"
Sonic gave him a blank stare.
"Hey! Answer me!"
Sonic gazed down from below, as his eyes spotted his friends. His emerald orbs flickered to where Tails & Charmy are, seeing the condition they're in. Eyes narrowed in anger, he lifted his head up to glare at Dr. Eggman.
"Are you just gonna stand there and glare at me with that stupid face of yours!?"
Sonic brought his hands out, confusing the doctor until he felt himself being lifted. However, no one was touching him, and it felt like a powerful gust of wind is lifting him up in the air. Before he could open his mouth to yell at Sonic, he paled when he saw a 3 headed snake made out of water hissing at him, dancing around him as they opened their mouths to reveal their fangs.
"How are you doing this, rodent!? When, where, and why!?" Dr. Eggman cried out, trying not to show fear.
Tails gasped, realizing Sonic is out and is still under the full moon's control. He spun his two tails and flew quickly all the way up to where Sonic is, hearing Charmy following behind him. He was able to make it there and hug Sonic's waist. "That's enough, Sonic! The Death Egg is already defeated, and Eggman gave up!"
However, Sonic ignored his brother as he started to encase Dr. Eggman in ice, who shivered rapidly while pleading for him to stop.
"Please, big brother! You're not a monster! You would never destroy Eggman!" Tails pleaded, grabbing his arms to stop him. "Come back to me, Sonic! Don't let the full moon control you!"
"Yeah! Fight it!" Charmy joined the hug.
Sonic looked at their pleading faces, seeing a pair of blue and orange-amber eyes glittered with tears. Frowning, he looked back at Dr. Eggman, then let his arms down. His powers vanished, resulting in Dr. Eggman to fall all the way to the ground. Before he could hit the ground, Omega was the one who caught him.
Relieved that Sonic listened to him, Tails heard their names being called from below. Both he and Charmy picked up Sonic by his arms, lifted him up, and flew him down all the way down to the ground where their friends were. As they landed on their feet, Cream was the first to hug them.
"I'm so sorry, Tails! I only looked away for a second, and Mr. Sonic was already gone!"
"Chao! Chao!"
"It's okay, you 3," Tails reassured them. "You all did a great job staying with Sonic."
"But you missed everything! He scared the evil egg!" Charmy snickered.
"That hedgehog is not normal! He's obviously not Sonic!" Dr. Eggman roared as he was tied up, and then had his mouth taped shut by Omega.
Sonic glared at Dr. Eggman, then hugged Team Defenders. Checking them over for any injuries, he picked up Tails and kissed his forehead. After putting him down, he did the same with Charmy, Cream, Cheese, and Chocola.
The others were surprised at their friend's odd display, but Amy happily swooned at the sight.
"Awww! He's practicing fatherhood already!" Amy squealed. "I knew it! He's not only gonna propose to me, but he also wants to have a family!"
Tails nervously laughed while blushing. "D-Did I say he has a nasty cold? I-I meant he's sleep deprived!"
Rouge giggled. "I never knew baby blue could be so affectionate."
Shadow scoffed. "I'm starting to believe the doctor is right about this imposter not being Sonic."
Omega scanned Sonic. "NEGATIVE. SCANS SHOW THIS IS THE REAL SONIC THE HEDGEHOG."
"Only one way to find out," Knuckles walked over while punching his fist at the palm of his hand.
Before he could get closer, Sonic hissed loudly at him, shielding Tails, Cream, Charmy, and the chao from Knuckles as he glared at him. "My babies!…"
Knuckles placed his hands up in surrender. "H-Hey! Easy there!" He then realized something. "Did you just called them your babies?"
Amy let out another huge squeal. "Oh my god! He's fulfilling his role as a father so well!" She pumped her fists in front of her. "I must also fulfill my role as a mother so Sonic and I can make a cute family together!"
"He's sleep-deprived!" Tails shouted, still blushing from what happened earlier.
Sonic blinked at his response. "We're meeting Chaos?"
Tails nodded his head, walking towards where the altar is. "You mentioned before that the moon spirit resembled Chaos. Maybe he and Tikal have information related to the moon spirit."
"You really think so?"
"It doesn't hurt to ask."
"How exactly can we talk to them without letting Knuckles know about my secret?"
"I'll take care of that."
They arrived on top of the altar where the Master Emerald is held. Guarding the emerald is their friend Knuckles, who is in his usual stance with a firm expression and arms folded over his chest. "What trouble have you two caused this time?"
Sonic arched his eyebrow, placing one hand on his hip. "What makes you think we caused any trouble?"
"It's always something related to the two of you that involves Eggman or some other bad guy," Knuckles uncrossed his arms. "Now what are you two really here for?"
"We'd like to talk with Chaos & Tikal," Tails answered.
"Care to tell me why?"
"Information about the moon spirit."
"Moon spirit?" Knuckles arched his eyebrow in confusion. "What moon spirit?"
"We know Chaos is an immortal god made entirely of concentrated energy and water who created the chao, correct?" Tails questioned.
"Yes he is."
"He has the ability to absorb the energy of the Chaos Emeralds to achieve different transformations to increase his strength, right?"
"Chaos's power is so great that he is revered as a deity by my tribe."
As Tails continued to give Knuckles questions, this allowed Sonic time to touch the Master Emerald. Closing his eyes, he cleared his head as he used his own chaos energy to contact Chaos and Tikal. He felt a tug within his soul, and he took some deep breaths to relax himself.
When he did that, he felt himself being pulled. Soon, he slowly opened his eyes, realizing he is now in a different area. No longer is he on Angel Island, but somewhere else. The area resembled an exotic garden, filled with different types of plants, flowers, and trees. Small ponds and lakes were nearby, and Sonic spotted some chao roaming around playing, eating fruit, swimming, or sleeping.
He then saw the two people he had been looking for, and rushed over to them. "Tikal! Chaos!"
Tikal turned around, holding a blue chao in her arms. "Greetings, Sonic the Hedgehog. We heard you wish to speak to us about something."
Sonic nodded. "It's really important, but before I can show, I need to ask you both something very important."
"Please tell us what troubles you."
"Have you heard of the moon spirit?"
Tikal blinked at his question. "The moon spirit?"
"I know Chaos is a water god. Is there another deity who can control the moon or has moon powers that create moon water?"
Chaos appeared next to Tikal, tilting his head. He made some odd noises, and Tikal translated for him.
"Chaos would like to know where you heard about the moon spirit?"
Sonic sighs. "Its best if I show you, though it will leave you all stunned." He got down on his knees and touched the lake water with his hands. Then, his appearance changed to reveal his merhog form. "Before you ask about my appearance, I must tell you why I need to know about the moon spirit."
He explained to them everything from when he was in Camelot, all the adventures he went through, and how he encountered the moon pool hidden in a cavern behind a waterfall. As he continued his story, Tikal & Chaos patiently listened to him. Once Sonic finished telling his story, he then used his powers to make a stream of water pull out from the lake.
"I also have these powers that I can use whether I'm in my merhog form or not. I can control water, freeze anything into ice, and burn stuff with fire. My voice can rival a siren's, and I cannot look at the full moon or I lose control of myself."
He used his powers to dry his tail, causing him to change back into his hedgehog form. "Whenever I touch water, I turn into a merhog. When my tail is dry, I change back into a hedgehog. I have to be extremely careful not to come in contact with any liquids while out in public, so I hope you understand why I asked about the moon spirit."
Chaos made some noises, as Tikal translated to what he said.
"Chaos knows what you are trying to say. In fact, he does recall a story about the moon spirit from thousands of years ago. However, all he could remember is that the moon spirit launched a meteorite onto this world in order to create a hidden oasis filled with moon water."
"Actual moon water from a meteorite?" Sonic asked.
Tikal nodded her head. "That's right. The moon spirit did this to bless whom it believed can wield the powers of the moon water. Since you touched the moon water made from the meteorite the moon spirit crafted, you were blessed with the form of a merhog."
"Exactly what Nimue told me," Sonic said, then gasped. "Wait! You said the moon spirit launched a meteorite onto this world!? Do you know the location!?"
Chaos nodded, giving out an answer.
Tikal translated his meaning. "From what Chaos can remember, the meteorite landed in the ocean to form part of an island. It is located far from a place called Blue Bell Island."
Sonic stood up. "If I find Blue Bell Island, then I'll be able to find the other island where the moon pool is. I'll be able to get there before the solar eclipse arrives."
"Yes. The Solar Eclipse will arrive in less than a month. However, if you are not in the moon pool during the solar eclipse, you will have to wait another 4 years for the next one to arrive."
"Which is why I need to find that island and not get discovered by anyone," Sonic gave them a firm nod. "Tikal. Chaos. Thank you. Now I have the information needed to help me enhance my abilities."
"You are most welcome, Sonic the Hedgehog," Tikal smiled, while Chaos gave him a firm nod. "We wish you a safe journey to Blue Bell Island."
If anyone told Sonic and Tails that they would be invited by Commander Towers to attend a meeting for G.U.N., they would've thought it was a silly prank. However, this wasn't a prank when Towers sent a G.U.N. member to deliver the information to them, along with key cards to give them access as visitors.
They weren't told about why they must be there, and all their questions will be answered once they arrive at G.U.N. headquarters. Now, they're inside being led to the meeting room by Team Dark, who were told in advance about their arrival.
"To be honest, even we do not know what the commander is holding the meeting for," Rouge shrugged. "It could be Eggman related."
"INFORMATION ABOUT THIS MEETING IS UNKNOWN," Omega stated in his robotic voice.
"I just hope it doesn't involve the Earth in danger," Tails sighed.
"I hear ya," Sonic placed his arms behind his head. "I still think Eggman needs a new hobby besides taking over the world, if he has one."
Shadow narrowed his eyes in suspicion at Sonic. "What was that?"
"Hmm?"
"You know what I'm talking about."
"What are you talking about, Faker?"
"How were you able to defeat the Death Egg and detain the doctor on that day?"
Sonic nearly flinched, letting his eyes focus on the front and not at his rival. "I don't remember what happened."
"Don't lie to me, Sonic. You harnessed unusual abilities that I've never seen you used before."
"I think you need to get your eyes checked, Shadow. It was dark, and everyone was tired."
"Do not change the subject, hedgehog. I know what I saw, and you better tell me the truth!"
"Oh look! We're here!"
They were now at the meeting room, or what the G.U.N. agents called their Briefing Room. It was a moderately large white room with many chairs for seating arrangements and a projector. At the front is the podium where Commander Towers is, who is preparing to start the meeting.
Omega chose to stand near the side of the wall, while everyone else took a seat where there's an open table for them. Sonic and Tails chose to sit together in the middle row, while Shadow and Rouge sat at the front row. Sonic is glad they arrived there so he wouldn't answer Shadow's questions. There was no way he would know about his abilities, especially G.U.N.
Commander Towers cleared his throat, then tapped the microphone. "Attention, soldiers! I called this meeting to assign you all new missions that you must prepare for!"
He started explaining to every team about what their new mission is, using the projector to show pictures to help identify their targets, and everything else they need to know so they can be prepared. Tails seemed interested in what the new missions are, while Sonic is already bored.
"Team Dark & Team Sonic, your mission is to prevent Dr. Eggman from wreaking havoc in the city on the day the Solar Eclipse arrives!"
This caught both Sonic and Tails' attention, as they see pictures on the projector of the solar eclipse, Dr. Eggman, and blueprints of his inventions.
"As you are aware, a total solar eclipse will arrive next month and we are unsure what the doctor is planning. Whether or not it's an evil plan to take over the world or invent a dangerous bot to hurt the citizens, we must not let the doctor do anything atrocious before, during, and after the solar eclipse."
Once Commander Towers finished explaining the mission details, he dismissed the meeting in the Briefing Room. Some of the soldiers either left or stayed to talk to the commander or with their partners. As for Sonic and Tails, they both got up from their seats and stretched a little.
"Looks like we'll have to stop Eggman before the Solar Eclipse appears," Tails said.
"Agreed. We still need to look for that island, find that pool, and be in it before the solar eclipse comes," Sonic replied. "I sure hope Eggface would choose not to do something evil and actually watch the eclipse like everyone else."
"I doubt he would."
"A hedgehog can dream."
Rouge approached, smirking a little. "Remember not to slow us down on our mission, boys."
Sonic grinned, rubbing his nose. "We don't do slow, your holiness."
"Holiness?"
"You're the Queen of Jewels, right?"
"The correct term is 'your highness'."
"Forgive me, your majesty," Sonic pretended to bow.
Rouge covered her mouth to refrain from giggling. "I'll let it slide since I'm in a good mood today."
"Bless you for your compassion," Sonic beamed. "Now then, it's time for my little brother and I to leave."
"Not so fast, Faker," Shadow approached him. "You still haven't answered my questions."
"What questions?" Sonic placed his hands behind the table.
"Do not change the subject."
"Sorry, but I really gotta get home and-
"What are you hiding!?" Shadow grabbed his shoulders.
"H-Hey! Cut it out!" Sonic scrambled to get him off, but ended up knocking a glass of water off the table with water splashed on him.
He paled, pushed Shadow off of him, and sprinted out of the meeting room. Luckily, he found a bathroom nearby and rushed in there. Glad that there is no one in here, he ran into the furthest stall and locked it, resulting in him transforming into a merhog.
Sliding down for his bottom to hit the floor, Sonic used his hydro-thermokinesis to dry his tail. As he did that, his ears picked up on the sound of someone coming in the bathroom, resulting in him to stay silent as he listened to who it could be.
"Sonic?" he heard his brother whisper. "Are you in here?"
"In here," Sonic replied.
Crawling under the stall where Sonic is, Tails hugged him. "Are you okay?"
"I am, bro."
"You sure? I can test my newest invention on Shadow for what he did and-
"Don't worry about it, Tails. He isn't worth your frustration."
"I won't forgive him for scaring you like that," Tails frowned, rubbing Sonic's blue tail with his yellow tail to dry him faster. "You don't have to tell Shadow anything since its none of his business."
"Agreed, but the guy's too stubborn though," Sonic's tail changed into two blue legs, sighing in relief as he carefully stood back up. "Let's go home now. I really don't want to face Shadow again."
"Me too."
They left the bathroom where they ran into Team Dark, causing Sonic to grab Tails and run away at full speed. He wouldn't mind talking to Rouge and Omega, but Shadow is a huge no-no. Plus, it still hurts to look at Shadow since he resembled Sir Lancelot, and it's something Sonic is not ready to endure.
Sonic took a deep breath and released it, feeling relaxed as the scent of flowers wafted in the air. It was now nighttime, and only the stars and crescent moon were out. Since he's only in a trance when it's a full moon, he isn't affected when any moon that isn't a full moon is out. Being out here in the floral field while everyone is asleep is perfect for him. Just him, the flowers, the night sky, and no bad egg out in the open to ruin his day.
"Lavender represents purity, silence, devotion, serenity, grace, and calmness. Purple is the color of royalty, and speaks of elegance, refinement, and luxury. You symbolize them well, my king. Please accept my gift of devotion to you."
Sonic sadly smiled, gazing down at the silver pendant resting on the palm of his hand. It was a round glass necklace pendant with a dry pressed lavender flower in it, made by Sir Lancelot who gave it to him on the day their relationship blossomed. He never took it off, and made sure to hide it well so no one would ask questions on where he received it.
To Sonic, Sir Lancelot is more than just his knight. He is his most precious friend, partner, lover, and soulmate. His whole world.
"My moon and star," he whispered to the wind.
His ears picked up on the sound of footsteps crunching against the grass, causing him to turn his head as he groaned. "What now, Shadow? It's the middle of the night."
Shadow hmphed, folding his arms as he critically stared at Sonic. "You know what I'm here for."
Sonic stood up from his spot, facing Shadow as he glared at him. "I'm not gonna answer your questions."
"Why not?"
"Because its none of your business."
"It is if it involves something deemed impossible for you."
"Look, I don't have time for this. I gotta get home now and-
He dodged a chaos spear launched at him. "Hey! What gives!?"
His answer is a roundhouse kick, which he successfully dodged. "What's your deal, Faker!? I don't have time for this!"
"Tell me or else!" Shadow launched his fist at him.
Sonic blocked his fists with his hands. "Why do you even care!? You hate me, remember!?"
This angered Shadow, as he used his full strength to push Sonic and pin his wrists to the ground. "Who said I even hated you!?"
"You did!"
"Did I ever say that I hated you!?"
"Well no, but you always showed your dislike towards me!"
"That's because I hate it!"
"Hate what!? Me!?"
"I hate your smile! I hate your cocky attitude! I hate how you show no fear risking your life for this planet! I hate your ratty shoes! I hate your unkept appearance! I hate how you still see the good in people who tried to kill you!"
"W-Wha-
"Let me finish! I hate how you enjoy freedom! I hate your love for nature! I hate how you enjoy your adventures so much! I hate how I can never be carefree like you!"
Shadow panted, eyes never leaving Sonic's face. "I hate how people compare us, even though we're both different. I don't want to be in your shadow anymore."
Sonic frowned, as he stared into Shadow's crimson eyes. "Shadow, you're you. We're not the same. You deserve as much as I do to be your own person."
He tried to wiggle himself free, but is still pinned down by Shadow's strength. "You're not in my shadow, and I'm not in yours. We both contrast in personalities, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and everything. However, we both share our love of the Earth. We would do anything to protect the Earth, animals, nature, and its people from danger, even if it meant risking our own lives."
Sonic got one arm out of Shadow's grip and wrapped it around his back, pulling him close in a one arm hug. "Even though you're not comfortable in getting close to someone, you're still precious to me, Shadow. I consider you as my dear friend, and I'll always have your back. If the world dare turns on you, I won't betray you."
He stroked the back of Shadow's head. "This may sound corny, but I see you as my whole world."
Shadow stiffened, then slowly relaxed into Sonic's touch as he hugged him back. Sonic gently smiled, hoping that this would help Shadow open up a bit to the people he can trust. He knew what it's like to wear a mask, especially when you're around people you don't trust. It took a while for Sonic to open his heart to his loved ones, and maybe the same goes for Shadow.
He felt Shadow lifting himself up, believing he's letting him go. But when Sonic was about to sit up, he was pinned again on the grass, prevented from moving. "S-Shadow?"
"Nice try, but that won't distract me," Shadow's crimson eyes glowed in the dark.
"H-Huh?"
"Answer me, Sonic. How exactly did you defeat that Death Egg and stopped Dr. Eggman from escaping?"
"Wait, aren't you letting me go?"
"Only if you answer me honestly."
"I can't tell you, Shadow."
"And why not? I'm not a patient person, hedgehog."
"Forcing someone to tell you the truth isn't a good idea, Shads."
"Do not call me that," Shadow squeezed his wrists, then saw the glass pendant hung around his neck. "What is that?"
Sonic hissed from his tight grip. "Y-You mean my necklace?"
Shadow got a closer look at the glass pendant, then he frowned as he glanced over at Sonic. "Who gave this to you?"
"That would be Tails."
"Do not lie to me. Who is Lancelot?"
Sonic froze, then squirmed out of his grip. "Get off me now!"
"You can't escape from me, Sonic! Now tell me who-
Sonic found an opening and kneed Shadow at the stomach, causing him to loosen his grip and for Sonic to kick him off. He quickly got up and dashed off with his superspeed, going as fast as he can to avoid Shadow and lose him. This time, he will not be alone with Shadow, and he'll never get his answers from Sonic.
"You weren't kidding about how beautiful this place is!" Tails awed.
"It's so pretty!" Cream exclaimed.
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese & Chocola chirped.
"Wow! A really cool place hidden on a spooky island!" Charmy flew around to inspect the hidden cavern.
"You have no idea," Sonic inspected the area, surprised that the place is nearly similar to the moon pool he found back in Camelot. "The locals from Blue Bell Island weren't joking about how no one would dare come to Mako Island."
"I'm surprised they named it Mako Island since it's a separate island from Blue Bell Island," Tails added.
"I'm glad we made it here safe and sound," Cream replied.
"Me too, Cream," Sonic crouched down, gazing at the clear blue water rippling in the pool.
"If we touch the water, are we gonna turn into mermaids, too?" Charmy touched the water with his finger.
"Only if there's a full moon out," Sonic looked up at the hole where they can see the sky. "The solar eclipse will appear soon, and I haven't heard anything from Eggman either."
"According to what Team Dark told us, we must keep an eye out for a possible attack from Eggman once the solar eclipse arrives," Tails recalled. "The moon will completely cover the sun, creating a brief period of total darkness during the day when it crosses the Earth."
"That sounds awesome!" Charmy cheered.
"I'm glad mama told me about how it isn't scary at all," Cream softly smiled.
"Chao!" Cheese & Chocola chirped to agree with her.
Sonic pulled out his phone from his quills to check the time. "The solar eclipse won't appear until tonight at 7, which means we got plenty of time to prevent Eggman from wrecking the city."
"It's also the only time where you must be in the moon pool during the solar eclipse in order to be your old self again," Tails reminded.
"Guess I'll have to speed things up with Egg for brains," Sonic placed his phone back in his quills, then raised his head to look at the ceiling.
However, that was his next mistake because what he saw caused him to remain still, as if he was in a trance. Team Defenders were wondering why Sonic became quiet, and looked to see where he was staring at, causing them to gasp.
"H-How can a full moon be out during the day!?" Tails checked his device. "It's not possible! The solar eclipse isn't happening until tonight!"
"Look away, Sonic! The moon is evil!" Charmy shook him, hoping he'll look away.
Sonic continued to stare at the moon, letting his eyes reflect its image. As he let himself get lost at the moon's beauty, he didn't pay attention to the loud beeping coming from the communicator. However, Tails' communicator was beeping, and he answered it. "Hello?"
"You and blue must come to Emerald City at once! Eggman had just brought out another giant robot to attack the city!" Rouge shouted.
"What!? He's attacking right now!?"
"Not only that, the solar eclipse is already happening! We need to defeat it quick before the whole Earth turns completely dark!"
"We're on our way!" Tails ended the call, looking up to see the solar eclipse is starting to happen. "We gotta get to Emerald City right now!"
He ran to Sonic and shook him. "Snap out of it, Sonic! Eggman is attacking the city with another giant robot!"
Sonic's expression changed when he heard what Tails told him, as his emerald eyes started to glow green. "He will not hurt the children…"
"Come on out, blue hedgehog!" Dr. Eggman mockingly called out to him. "My Mega Bot wants to meet you!"
Mega Bot, another one of his creations, was busy destroying the buildings and fighting against the heroes. Team Dark was preventing the robot from attacking citizens, while Amy & Knuckles were making sure everyone is away from the robot's path.
Dr. Eggman looked at the sky, as he saw the moon slowly moving towards to where the sun is. "Once the solar eclipse happens, the world will be plunged into eternal darkness, which gives me an advantage to destroy you all once and for all!"
He cackled in glee, as he watched his Mega Bot obliterate everything in its path. It was able to land a good hit on Amy, Knuckles, and Team Dark, as they all had to step back and create some distance between themselves and Mega Bot.
"Where are Sonic and Tails!?" Amy had her mallet out.
"They should be here already!" Rouge dusted off the dirt on her arm.
"They better have a good reason why they're late!" Knuckles growled.
"WARNING! UNKNOWN ENEMY APPROACHING FROM THE DISTANCE!" Omega pointed at a random direction.
Shadow looked over, then his eyes widened in astonishment. "What the hell is that!?"
Everyone, including Eggman and Mega Bot, looked over to see something approaching them. The figure suddenly appeared near them, revealing a massive being made of white water who resembled Chaos. However, there was someone floating at the center where Chaos's chest is, revealing a familiar blue hedgehog in his merhog form with glowing white eyes.
"S-Sonic?" Amy trembled.
"A-And Chaos?" Knuckles gaped in shock. "H-How is he doing this!?"
"Sonic and Chaos merged together?" Rouge gasped. "Were the Chaos Emeralds absorbed into them?"
Shadow shook his head. "I don't sense the Chaos Emeralds within them. However, I sense an unfamiliar energy within them."
"TARGET IS STILL UNKNOWN! MAINTAIN DISTANCE FROM TARGET!" Omega commanded.
Amy gasped, pointing at something. "I-I see Cream up there!" She then saw a few more people with her. "I even see Tails, Charmy, and the Chao's!"
"What are they doing on his shoulder!?" Knuckles' eyes widened in disbelief. "Do they know what happened to him!?"
"Let's hope they give us an actual answer on how strange Faker is acting!" Shadow snarled.
Meanwhile, Team Defenders were standing on the shoulders of Chaos's giant form, making sure not to slip and still surprised at what they witnessed back at Mako Island. As for Sonic, he is maintaining control in his new form thanks to the moon spirit who came to help him.
"Not bad at all, hedgehog!" Dr. Eggman mocked. "I'm almost impressed with that display, but it still stinks!" He then pointed at Sonic. "Mega Bot! Destroy Sonic the Hedgehog!"
Mega Bot fired laser beams at Sonic, who used the form of Chaos to shield himself. Using his hydro powers, he unleashed a water whip at it, causing the robot to get hit, leaving a dent on its metal plate.
Snarling, Dr. Eggman shook his fist at Mega Bot. "What are you doing!? I programmed you to be indestructible!"
Mega Bot fired an intense energy beam from its eye, which was blocked by an ice shield Sonic created. The robot launched missiles, which were destroyed when Sonic grabbed them with his giant hands and made them explode with his fire powers. It even tried to land a punch on the new form, but got backhanded instead, causing Mega Bot to fly back and land on its back.
"Hey! What did my Mega Bot ever do to you!?" Dr. Eggman growled, then pressed something on his wrist. "Orbot! Cubot! Unleash-
He couldn't finish his sentence when he was suddenly levitated up in the air, along with Mega Bot. Dr. Eggman looked down, freaking out as he saw how high up he is in the sky as he kicked his legs, hoping to be put down gently.
"H-Hold on! L-Lets make a deal, hedgehog! I-If you let me go, I-I promise not to destroy the city!" Dr. Eggman felt himself sweating in terror.
Sonic glared at him, slowly curling his hands into fists as he activated his powers on the doctor and Mega Bot, who were both slowly being encased in ice. Only this time, nothing will prevent him from eliminating these threats once and for all.
"I-I won't destroy you or your friends either! J-Just please let me down!" Dr. Eggman shivered, feeling the ice spreading from the bottom of his feet all the way up to his shoulders. "H-Have mercy! Please!"
"That's enough, Sonic! There's no need to go that far!" Tails pleaded.
"Yeah! You already defeated the bad guy!" Charmy added.
Sonic didn't hear them, as he then used his one hand to make fire appear on Mega Bot, who is slowly being engulfed in it after being frozen from the ice. Keeping them levitated in the air with his wind, he manifested an electric water snake to coil around Eggman, who begged and pleaded to be released.
"No, Mr. Sonic! Stop!" Cream felt tears forming in her eyes, trembling at seeing the sight. "You're a hero! You're not a monster!"
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese & Chocola loudly chirped, begging him to stop.
Sonic turned his head, as the white chaos form gazed at the little ones nearly having tears in their eyes. Not wanting to upset them, Sonic turned his head back to where Dr. Eggman and Mega Bot are, letting his arms drop to stop his powers. He brought his hands out to catch the mad doctor and giant robot, then carefully placed them down on the ground.
Then, Sonic opened his mouth and sang a beautiful haunting melody (Think of the song Sleeping Sun by Nightwish with Sonic singing the long note before the guitar solo), as the entire city and citizens are covered in moon water. When they looked at their appearance, they saw that their injuries and wounds were healing. They didn't feel any pain, and they were all able to function normally as if they weren't injured. All the buildings were restored back to their former glory.
As that happened, Team Defenders were able to jump off his shoulder and fly all the way back to the ground where their friends are. Landing safely on their feet, Tails glanced over at the sky. "The moon is almost covering the sun."
"How long will Mr. Sonic sing?" Cream asked.
"I think he's almost done!" Charmy pointed.
"Now hold on just a minute!" Amy stopped them. "Do you know what's going on here!?"
"When and how did Sonic merged with Chaos!? And why does he have a fish tail!?" Knuckles pointed out.
Before anyone could answer, the entire city was suddenly shrouded in darkness. They all saw the moon covering the sun, indicating the total solar eclipse had happened. Then, the darkness faded away as the moon slowly started to move away from the sun. Gasping, Tails looked over at Sonic. "Sonic! We must return to Mako Island right now! The solar eclipse is about to end soon!"
Sonic finished singing, turning his head to gaze at his little brother, which was a fatal mistake. A laser beam pierced through his abdomen, surprising him as he looked at the blood leaking from his wound. He saw that the Mega Bot was still alive, as its eye glowed from where it launched the energy beam.
"Excellent shot, Mega Bot!" Dr. Eggman praised his invention.
However, it was a huge mistake when Amy, Knuckles, and Team Dark launched a full-frontal assault on both Mega Bot and Dr. Eggman, angered at their dirty trick. Tails, Cream, Charmy, Cheese, and Chocola watched in horror as White Chaos' form began to melt, revealing Sonic falling all the way down.
Team Defenders quickly used their abilities to fly towards Sonic at breakneck speed, being able to catch him and carefully bringing him to solid ground. As Sonic laid on the ground unconscious in his merhog form bleeding from his abdomen, Tails covered the wound with both of his hands, holding pressure so he wouldn't bleed to death.
"Hang on, Sonic! We're gonna get you help!" Tails looked at the sky, then at his brother. "We will get you healed up quick and take you to the moon pool! We're almost there!"
A huge roar shook the city, causing everyone to freeze as they see something flying towards them. When the figure had gotten closer, everyone is stunned to see that it was a giant dragon covered in red and black scales. However, the dragon wasn't alone.
Riding on top of the dragon's head is a knight wearing red, black, and gray armor. The knight's face is covered with a red helmet with black dragon horns sticking out on the top and sides. Held in his gloved hand is a huge sword colored in crimson and black with the handle matching the sword's color.
"Well that's just great! You brought reinforcements!" Dr. Eggman spat, trying to ignore the pain inflicted on him.
"We didn't call for anyone," Rouge replied, wondering who this stranger is.
The dragon unleashed a mighty roar, breathing out a ton of fire where Mega Bot is. Mega Bot couldn't dodge it due to it being weak, and was then engulfed in fire as it burned itself to the ground, causing Team Dark and the others to jump away at a safe distance away from the flaming robot.
"No! My Mega Bot!" Dr. Eggman cried out in despair.
"Everyone get back! The dragon is coming back!" Shadow warned them.
He was correct when the dragon headed towards them, spitting out a ton of fireballs as they each dodged or tried to deflect them. However, they didn't realize it was a distraction as the knight teleported from on top of the dragon's head and appeared near Team Defenders.
Cream, Charmy, and the Chao's quickly got in front of Sonic and Tails and spread their arms out, preventing the knight from getting closer.
"Stay back! I'm not afraid to sting you!" Charmy glared at the knight.
"Don't hurt them! Our friend is bleeding and needs a doctor!" Cream begged the knight to not get closer.
It was hard to tell what type of expression the knight is giving them since his face is covered with a visor. However, he wasn't looking at them. Instead, he was looking at where Sonic is. He then gently pushed them aside and approached Tails, getting down on his knees as he reached his hand out.
"Do not touch my brother! He's injured!" Tails hissed at the knight, believing him to be the enemy.
The knight shook his head at him. "I would never hurt my king."
"Y-Your king?"
The knight pulled out something from his armor, revealing a small white crystal vial filled with liquid. Removing the cork, he moved Tails' hand away from the wound and poured the liquid onto the abdomen. This caused Sonic's entire body to glow white as his wound slowly healed until it was no longer there, surprising Tails and his friends.
When the light faded away, Sonic's expression changed as his eyelids started to flutter. The knight placed one arm around Sonic's shoulder, while the other is placed on his waist to pull him close to his body. "Sire? Can you hear me?"
Once his eyes started to open, his vision turned blurry. Blinking a few times, it cleared up to reveal the knight holding him. When he studied the knight's appearance, he slowly lifted his hand up and touched his cheek, feeling his brown muzzle. "Lance?..."
Lifting his visor to reveal his face, Sir Lancelot softly smiled down at him as he placed his own hand against the hand where his cheek is being caressed. "It is me, my love. I have returned for you."
"I-Is it really you?"
"Yes, my sun. It is truly me."
Lancelot held Sonic close to him, placing one arm under his tail where his knees are and stood up, holding Sonic like a princess as he gazed down at him with a face filled with love. "Time to return home, my dear. Everyone is waiting for you."
"W-Wait!" Tails jumped up and placed his hand up to stop him. "W-We need to take Sonic somewhere so he can get his legs back! The solar eclipse is about to end soon!"
Sir Lancelot shook his head. "There is no need. He'll keep the moon spirit's blessing."
"I should?" Sonic appeared confused with a dazed look on his face.
"Yes, my sunflower. I'll help you master your form and abilities so you'll never be afraid ever again," Lancelot kissed his forehead.
"Thank you, my moon…" A dopey smile appeared on Sonic's face as he closed his eyes and let his face rest against Lancelot's armor.
Tails gaped at what his brother said, then glared at Lancelot. "This is Sonic's decision, not yours! Who are you to decide for him!?"
"As his faithful knight and lover, I know what's best for my beloved," Sir Lancelot pulled his visor down to cover his face.
"His what!?"
"Now we must return home where he can rest."
"You don't know where he lives!"
"He lives in the castle at Camelot."
"No he does not!"
"He does, future brother-in-law."
Sir Lancelot jumped high into the air, holding Sonic tightly in his arms as he launched himself over to where his dragon is. Ignoring the loud cries and shouts, he landed on the back of his dragon as he cradled his merhog in his arms.
The dragon let out another terrifying roar, as it flew up towards to where the solar eclipse is. As the moon moved away to reveal the sun, both the dragon and Sir Lancelot vanished with Sonic, leaving no trace of their existence.
Tails landed on his knees, feeling tears stream down his cheeks with a stunned expression on his face. Cream & Charmy rushed over to comfort him while the Chao's were chirping loudly, worried about what they just saw and where the knight took Sonic. Amy and the others rushed over to Team Defenders.
"Guys! Are you-
She didn't finish when she heard the most unsettling scream escaping from Tails' mouth, echoing the city as everyone witnessed the most heartbreaking sight of Tails sobbing, crying out for his brother as Cream & Charmy hugged him, also crying.
Amy and Rouge rushed over to comfort them, reassuring them that everything is all right and they're not in trouble. Omega wrapped his arms around them, hoping the hug would comfort the crying children and Chao. Knuckles and Shadow had somber expressions on their faces, upset for their friends and worried about the safety of Sonic.
"BRING BACK MY BROTHER! YOU CAN'T TAKE HIM FROM ME!"
"PLEASE GIVE US BACK MR. SONIC! WE LOVE HIM!"
"WE'RE HIS PROTECTORS, NOT YOU! YOU CAN'T JUST KIDNAP HIM LIKE THAT, YOU MEANIE!"
"CHAO! CHAO! CHAO!"
As they continued to cry for Sonic while the girls and Omega did their best to comfort them, Shadow looked around for clues while Knuckles kept his eye on Dr. Eggman and his destroyed Mega Bot so they wouldn't escape. Spotting something sparkling near the site where Sonic bled, Shadow picked it up, holding a white crystal vial in the palm of his hand.
He clenched his fist, holding it tightly in his hand as he gazed up at the sky with a dangerous expression. "Foolish hedgehog! Who took you!?"
Sir Lancelot hummed as he stroked his beloved king's cheek, seeing him sleep peacefully on their huge bed in their private chambers. Sonic was no longer in his merhog form after he was dried up for his tail to come back, and had been dressed up in a silky blue sleeveless dress that was comfortable for him to sleep in.
As for Lancelot, he removed his armor and wore only his dark trousers. Ever since Sonic left for his world, Sir Lancelot took over the throne as Camelot's temporary king and made sure the kingdom is fully healed after the events of the fake King Arthur. It took a while, but the whole kingdom and nation were now at peace and ruled his way.
However, his heart still longs for his king and lover, wishing that he would return to him. He missed Sonic's emerald eyes, his shiny cobalt fur, his dazzling smile, his soft pink lips, his divine figure, and everything about him. But most of all, he missed touching and holding his love, along with being able to be close to him while in his merhog form or in his hedgehog form.
Thanks to a friend who helped him find a way to get to Sonic's world, he was able to sneak away from the castle without being seen and brought his dragon Draco with him to find Sonic. And it's a good thing they got there quick because he was infuriated when he saw his love bleeding on the ground.
The vial he kept on him for emergencies worked tremendously, and his king is now out of danger. Lancelot brought him back home to Camelot, and they'll be together forever. Sonic will be confused at first, but he'll understand once Lancelot tells him the situation. His beloved will realize that Camelot needs him, everyone in the kingdom needs him, and the knights of the round table need him.
But most of all, Lancelot needs him.
A cute yawn escaped from Sonic's lips as he turned to his side, facing Lancelot when his eyes started to flutter open. "Lance?..."
Lancelot laid on his side facing Sonic with his hand propped up to hold his face, while the other caressed his quills. "Hello, my sweet lavender."
Sonic purred as he felt his ear being scratched. "It feels warm and soft here…"
"We are in our room, my darling," Lancelot scooted closer, pulling Sonic into his arms as he kissed his forehead.
Sonic snuggled against him, feeling his white chest fur. "You're also warm and soft…"
"I missed your warm hands touching me~"
"I missed your warmth and love."
"Then let me show you how much my heart loves you. How it yearns for your presence. How it wants to be touched by your lovely heart, my shining sun~"
Lancelot tilted his chin up and kissed him, hugging him as his hands caressed his curves. Sonic purred, hugging Lancelot's neck as he stroked his quills. The star-crossed lovers lost themselves in the embrace, unleashing their desires that they kept at bay for so long as nighttime approached.
However, they kept going all night, letting their cries and moans echo in the chambers for no one to hear but themselves. Sonic moaned in bliss as he and Lancelot danced on the bed together, getting lost in the night of passion and romance as they let themselves reveal their hidden desires.
"Mine!~ All mine!~" Lancelot panted as he kissed Sonic's neck. "I'll never lose you again, my love!~"
"I love you, Sir Lancelot!~"
"I love you with an everlasting love that can withstand anything!~ I won't let time separate us again, my sun!~"
Sir Lancelot's eyes glowed red, filled with hunger and power as he pounded his lover on the bed at unbreakable speed. "You are my king and queen!~ I cannot wait to marry you and have so many children with you!~"
Sonic's moans were silenced with a hungry kiss from Lancelot, hugging his neck as they both got lost in the taste of passion and lust during their lovemaking. However, Sonic had no idea that everything deemed right to him actually felt wrong, but he chose to ignore it as he focused on being pleasured by his knight and future husband who will father his children.
