The following morning, Hermione woke early as was becoming her habit, and looked over at Ginny's bed, which she noticed had not been slept in at all. "Typical," she muttered, and then shoved the covers off, got out of bed, grabbed some clean uniform pieces, and went into the bathroom to shower. After showering, she looked in the mirror and sighed, tugging at one of her wayward curls.
"Next Hogsmeade weekend." She said to herself, deciding that she was done with the long unruly mess on her head. She quickly did a light makeup application, and pulled her hair into a ponytail. Exiting the bathroom, she looked at Ginny's side of the room, she noticed that Ginny still hadn't come back. She left her room, and ran down through the common room, where there were only a couple of early risers like herself, and made her way down to the Great Hall. Finding her usual spot on the bench, she grabbed a muffin, buttered it, and poured herself a cup of coffee. She pulled out her ancient runes textbook, a notebook and pen, and clicked it. She sat in relative peace, occasionally saying hi, as her classmates would come down and say hi to her, but focusing on her textbook, clicking the pen subconsciously.
She'd been sitting at the table, letting it slowly fill around her, tuning out the chatter, when all of sudden, she felt a tug on one of her curls. "Ow!" She said, turning around annoyed.
"Budge up," said Ginny in an annoyed tone.
Hermione scooted over on the bench to make room. "Have a nice time?"
Ginny gave her a look. "No. I thought Harry would be excited to see me, in more ways than one, but instead all he wanted to talk about was you."
"Me?" Hermione gasped. "Why?"
Ginny looked at her. "He wanted to know why Rita was writing bullshit in the paper, because according to him, there's no way it was true because you would have written him and Ron first so they wouldn't have to find out in the paper."
Hermione closed her eyes and groaned. "Oh no. I'm so sorry Ginny. They've been the furthest thing from my mind the last few weeks."
Ginny shook her head. "Don't be. I told him that, and that made him mad. Seriously, we argued all night. Didn't even have angry sex."
Hermione made a face at that. "So you didn't get the cloak I'm guessing."
"After I stunned him, I did." Ginny said darkly. "I also left him a note saying that we were borrowing it because we needed it more, and that until he could grow up and realize that you have been going through a lot, and that you have your own life outside of the fucking Golden Trio, maybe we should take a break."
Hermione's eyes widened. "You broke up with Harry because of me?"
Ginny grabbed a slice of toast and slathered marmalade on it. "He kept saying that I should have told him what was going on. I told him, no I shouldn't, it was your secret, and I wasn't throwing away five years of sisterhood on a boyfriend. A husband, maybe, but not a boyfriend. He really didn't like that."
"You shouldn't have done that because of me," Hermione whispered.
Ginny looked at Hermione sympathetically. "If it's any consolation, we're two months into term, and he's only written me twice, and he hasn't asked me about either of us once. So I was already pissed about that."
Hermione looked down at her book, not really taking it all in. "I really just wanted one normal, quiet school year."
Ginny rolled her eyes. "You're Hermione Fucking Granger. That was never in the cards for you. Now come on."
Hermione watched as Ginny stood up. "Where are we going?"
Ginny pointed across the hall. "To go make plans with your brother and his friends."
Hermione shoved her belongings in her bag, and made her way across the Great Hall with Ginny. As they got closer, Theo made room for the two Gryffindors, and they sat next to him. "Good morning ladies."
Ginny looked at Hermione. "See, Harry never speaks that nicely to me."
Hermione shook her head. "Stop that."
"How is Potter?" Pansy asked, stirring a cup of tea, not bothering to look up from her magazine.
Ginny scowled. "If he's come to by now, then probably pissed at me. I dumped him this morning."
Theo raised an eyebrow at Hermione, and she shook her head. "I'll explain later," she whispered in his ear. Theo nodded.
"His loss." Pansy said matter of factly. "Now did you figure out how we're all going to get off school grounds tonight?" She asked looking up finally.
Ginny grinned. "Naturally. All you have to do, is meet me in the library tonight."
"The library?" Draco asked. "I thought we were leaving the castle."
"We are." Ginny said. "But no one will think twice if you, Hermione, or Theo are in the library during dinner. And no one will bother to go looking for you three there either. Of everyone in Hogwarts, you three probably know all the best hiding spots in there. As for me and Pansy, we'll be seen going with you, and leaving without you."
Hermione groaned. "And let me guess. I'm going to be in the cloak with those two." She said pointing at Theo and Draco.
Ginny smiled sweetly. "And I was starting to question your cleverness."
Hermione rolled her eyes. "I thought I was done sneaking around under that cloak with two boys."
After their last class for the day, Hermione and Theo made their way up to the Library, where Draco was waiting outside for them. "So what, we should just wait out here for Weaselette and Pansy?" Draco asked.
Hermione shook her head. "No, I know a place we can go. Ginny'll find us." She led the way into the library, and made her way through the various shelves, deeper and deeper.
"How will she know how to find us all the way back here?" Draco asked looking around. "She said this morning that no one knows this place better than you."
Theo chuckled, and looked at Draco. "She has a way."
Hermione stopped at a wall. "Go behind this wall. There's a good spot back here where no one will bother looking for us."
Draco narrowed his eyes at her. "This isn't some elaborate plan to kill me is it?"
Hermione rolled her eyes, and pushed on his back hard. "If I wanted to kill you, you'd be dead by now."
Theo laughed heartily, and followed Draco and Hermione in the alcove. "I never knew this was back here." He commented, putting his bag on the table.
Hermione pulled out a chair and pulled her knees up to her chest. "I found it in first year, before Harry and Ron became my friends. I didn't have any friends yet, so I spent all my spare time exploring the Library."
Theo looked down at his feet. "I'm so sorry Hermione."
Hermione looked up at him. "It's not your fault. And besides, a week after I found this spot, Harry and Ron saved me from the-"
"There you are!" Ginny said, poking her head around the corner. "Nice spot Mione." She complimented as she and Pansy entered the small space.
Hermione smiled. "Which passage are we using?"
Ginny grinned. "I was thinking the one-eyed witch."
Hermione stood up, and held her hand out. Ginny reached in her bag, and pulled out a silvery fabric, that almost looked liquid, and held it up. Theo's and Draco's eyes widened. "Is that-?" Theo started.
"An invisibility cloak?" Ginny finished, grinning broadly. "Yep, it's belonged to Harry's family for centuries."
"Fucking Potter." Draco muttered. "That's how you three always got around!" He said in an accusing voice to Hermione.
Hermione ignored him. "When are you going to give it back to him?" She asked, taking the cloak from Ginny.
"I was thinking end of the year. Make him sweat a bit." Ginny said, in an annoyed tone.
Hermione nodded, then looked at Theo and Draco. "Right, you two are a bit taller than Harry and Ron, so you're going to have to crouch in order for all three of us to fit."
Draco and Theo looked at each other, but before they could say anything, Hermione had thrown the fabric around the two of them. Pansy started laughing hysterically. "It looks so funny with just their ankles and feet sticking out!"
Draco and Theo immediately bent their knees, and leaned over. "Right, much better." Hermione said. "I'm coming in," and immediately pulled the cloak open, and shoved back against them, letting the fabric envelope her.
Draco tried to pull back from her so she wasn't pressed right up against him, but Hermione just moved back with him. "When was the last time you tried to fit three grown adults under this thing?" Draco muttered.
Hermione turned her head to look at him. "The night of the final battle." She turned back around.
Draco looked slightly ashamed at that.
"Right, you three ready under there?" Ginny asked, pulling the Marauders Map out of her bag, and tapping it.
Hermione put her hand out of the cloak, gave a thumbs up and then pulled her hand back in. "We're going to have to be as quiet as possible under here." She warned.
Theo rolled his eyes at Draco, but didn't make a comment. Ginny and Pansy took the lead, while Draco, Theo and Hermione shuffled along slowly behind them, out of the library, and through the corridors, until finally they stopped at a statue of a one-eyed witch. Pansy leaned against a wall, and took the map from Ginny, while Ginny turned to the statue, and pulled her wand out.
"You're good." Pansy said, looking at the map intently.
Ginny tapped the hump on the statue and muttered, "Dissendium."
At her spell the hump on the statue opened, and revealed a slide. Ginny grinned, and then went down the hole created. Hermione pulled the cloak off of the three of them, and motioned for the two boys to go. Draco looked at her apprehensively, and when she offered no words of comfort, he slid down the hole as well, Theo going a moment after. Hermione went after Theo, and finally Pansy went down.
As Pansy reached the bottom, the hole above them closed up, and they were left in darkness. She handed the map back to Ginny, and she tucked it into her bag. Hermione pulled out her wand, and illuminated the corridor ahead. "Right, Harry always said this one was straight."
"You've never been down here?" Theo asked her disbelievingly.
Hermione shrugged. "Once, to fetch the cloak when Harry had to leave it here, but I never went all the way through." She started walking down the hall, leading the way.
"How often did Potter use this tunnel?" Draco asked.
Hermione frowned. "Only a couple of times in third year. Sirius signed off on him going to Hogsmeade the next year, so he didn't need to use it."
"This was always Fred and George's favorite exit." Said Ginny. "It lets out right into Honeydukes, so we always had good stuff for parties."
They continued down the corridor for a few more minutes, until it began to slope upward, and finally, they were in a dark room with lots of boxes. "This is Honeydukes?" Pansy asked, nose wrinkled.
"It's the store room," Ginny answered. "We should be able to apparate straight out of here. You take Theo and Malfoy, and I'll take Pansy?" She asked Hermione.
Hermione nodded her head, and grasped Theo and Draco, and before they could say anything, Hermione had whisked them away. They landed in Diagon Alley, and Hermione let go of them. She pulled out her wand, and did a silent transfiguration on her clothes, changing her school uniform into light wash jeans, a light pink polo, and navy hoodie, with white trainers. She pulled the hood up over her head to draw less attention to herself, and waited for Ginny and Pansy to arrive. Seconds later, Ginny and Pansy appeared next to them. Pansy took one look at Hermione, and pulled out her wand, and transfigured her own clothes, then did Ginny's.
Ginny looked at her watch. "6:30." She said. "Let's get moving."
