I don't own anything that could get me sued in this story I just want to write and such.
Hidden leaf modern day.
Naruto Uzumaki had to be the luckiest boy in all of fire country! He was getting to learn about his families clan secrets today. As the heir one would expect this to be a secretive solitary event with boring tutors and long speeches…well that was partially true. The only thing different was he wasn't alone! His mom and aunts had brought there kids along too as they were around the same age. There fathers all had missions and wished they could be there for the event excluding Naruto's who was running the village and to a degree not allowed to take part in some of the clans practices. Satomi had set up rules years ago to prevent clan secrets from getting out but thanks to them the clan was safe. Naruto thought it was so cool how strong she was and how much she cared about family. Today was Testing Day! All the kids in the clan were gathered in to the Uzumaki clan compound and led to a seal that transported them to their ancestral home the Islands of Uzu. It was here the kids would be split into two groups, Eddy and Ink. The kids in Eddy all had natural bright red hair which indicates the ability to use the clans Adamantine sealing chains and Mind's eye of the Kagura. They tested any other abilities they child may possess as such an anomaly would mean further tests would be taken and the child would chose if they wanted to have the ability sealed away. For the ink group things were not so cut and dry. The kids all lacked the signature Uzumaki red hair. For these children tests would be taken to see what demons would form pacts with them and if they make one at all. From there trading began to master sealing, summoning , and magic/chakra. Naruto had the pleasure of going first as the clan heir. This was the first step towards his whirlpool ceremony in a few years and he was ecstatic.
"Naruto put your hand on the stone and tell us what you hear or see." Kushina Uzumaki, his mother, instructed. He was sure she was just as excited as him he could feel it. They were direct descendants of Satomi and had high hopes in terms of powerful contracts. Kushina didn't get to partake in these rituals so closely as she was one of the only Eddy's of her line the only other one being her great great aunt Mito who married the first Hokage when the village was founded." Okay let's do this!" He said with a big foxy grin. He hoped for something a bit animalistic as more mechanical demons were harder to explain while keeping the clan secret safe. He thought of his family and how much he couldn't wait to start getting strong enough to protect them. Many threats had come for the Uzumaki over the years causing them to join the village they currently resided in and seal off their ancestral lands. But with the pacts they made Naruto's line had managed to protect everyone! Roar!! He heard a thunderous roar in the swirling abyss of his mind the connection had been made. He noted how the roar seemed to echo as if there was more than one mouth suppling the sound. " Hear a roar, I think it's from more than one mouth 3 to 5 maybe?" The blond said everyone waited with baited breath. It could be a returning demon it wasn't unheard of as some demons preferred working with specific lines of Uzumaki. However this did also mean the Satomi's former partner, Kraken, was yet to return. " I hear flapping wings I can't tell what kind they are but they're big it's making a really strong breeze. some of the kids whispered about the demon Malphas or Hydra who had worked with several lines of Uzumaki including Naruto's. "Is there anything else if you can't get a bem yet that's find but focus on the feeling you have right now it may be trying to tell you something about themselves." His mother told him. She had been doing this for a little while as she became clan head a few years before his birth this year would be her 6th. Naruto tried his hardest to block everything out and focus on his other senses. His skin felt prickly and a chill ran down his spine like something was looming over him." I'm cold." And with that he let go and the rest of his group went to find out about their potential pacts. The group was smaller this year as many of the clan didn't need or want to be shinobi focusing on the other areas of the Ink faction. This included the merchants and smith workers. They provided magical goods to the clan and kept money coming in to maintain the family's noble status. This year many of the kids came from eddy lines and wish to follow that path rather than make a pact.
"Kenshin, your next." Naruto's aunt Kimiko said. Kenshin shyly approached the stone. " Whenever your ready, okay?" She reassured him. Like Naruto, Kenshin came from an Ink line that got disrupted in their mothers generation. It was something the pairs bonded over in both generations mothers and sons alike. Kenshin had been the only one of his siblings to be born into the ink faction his elder brother chose to work In the village library and his twin sister Karin wasn't here to boost up his confidence. "I-I see um…claws…no talons." Definitely a great sign. Seeing was rare feeling and hearing was something most Uzumaki children had to rely on. "It's windy and it feels like a um uh whirlpool from the sky?"Kenshin said. Seemed more relaxed despite all that was going on he knew he'd be bombarded with questions from the other kids once this was over. With sigh he withdrew his hand. And returned to the crowd with Naruto. "That was so cool I can't wait to tell Karin and Kyō!" Naruto whispered excitement for his friend causing a much more modest smile to appear on the other Uzumaki's face. "Speaking of Kyō he's the last to go. Look!" Kenshin said in a hushed voice. Kyō had been apart of their little group for about a year now. He was a clan anomaly never seen before. From a purely Eddy line of Satomi's subordinate Tsunado, he was born with deep red hair. As the years went by the hair went brown not unlike Kenshin's, but he swore that there was still some red there and he'd make it as a ninja even if he didn't have good use of the Eddy factions skills. He often voiced this opinion whenever he got the chance so it was no surprise when he refused the first step towards entering his whirlpool."know for the knowledge transfer seals. Shinobi hopefuls Lin up in front of me!" Kushina said. Merchants and Smiths over here please." Said Kimiko. The seal had been modified in the past years to very slowly add information to improve training and avoid suspension from rival or enemy clans. For now all the Ink kids would be learning the same things but once they reached the second to last year of the academy or when the would've entered their whirlpools to form pacts the seal would either focus on the alchemy, smithing, or combat areas of the demonic tome.
The children were all four to five and would begin the first steps towards their future in the clan. When the groups joined again the three Uzumaki boys instantly found Karin in the front of the Eddy faction and told her about how Testing Day had went for them. She was surprised to here her brothers first step had gone so well."And here I was worrying you'd never be say what you'd hear because you were so spooked! Hahahahaha, well I've got news too but it's a surprise." Karin told the boys. They knew why she was holding out on them this was her favorite part of Testing Day and she'd waited so long to get to it. As an Eddy twin sister herself she liked to imagine herself as Mito. The group leader preformed a genjutsu on the children and told them the tale of two maelstroms. The story focused on Satomi's twin daughters Mito and Chikara. The sisters were alive in the warring clans era at its peak and displayed great political and military strength. Two of the three clans they now found themselves allied with became that in this time. Through Chikara the Uchiha joined in battle against raids from Lightning based clans. The Kaguya having feared Mitos silent wrath changed their ways and agreed to serve the Uzumaki to the best of their abilities. The sisters, before settling down, made Testing day so that with the passing of their mother and the separation two sisters the clan could carry on without dwindling in strength. When the story was over the kids got to work on a feast to end the day. "So what was it you wanted to tell us Karin chan?" Kyō asked. Karin finished her bowl of ramen and looked at the boys with a smirk. "I'm an anomaly!" She said confidently."What! That's so cool Karin nee chan, what does can you do?" Kenshin asked he was happy he wasn't the only one with something unexpected to happen to him it made him feel less uneasy."Well, after they analyzed my chakra the stone detected that my chakra behaves like medical ninjutsu when consumed. It would be pretty draining so I should rely on it too much" she informed the group adjusting her glasses in a very mater of fact way." The stone also showed it was easier for me use Mind's Eye of the Kagura rather than Adamantine Sealing Chains." She finished. At this Naruto managed to finally stop stuffing his face and add to the conversation. " That sounds great Karin, you'll be a real wild card with that setup! Never letting the enemy know your next move that's the Uzumaki way. Believe it!" At that she giggled and told the group she plans to focus on fuinjutsu so she wouldn't be hopeless as a combat medic with one trick up her sleeve. Kyō wanted to use some of the alchemy and smithing techniques to become a master in the clans kenjutsu. This inspired Kenshin to make comments on how important it was to stay balanced which is what he plans to do when it came to the Uzumaki arts. "What do you plan to do Naruto?" Karin asked. "Well…I'm gonnna get super strong and make the clan proud with my super awesome ninjutsu and pact ya know!!"
The night was coming to a close and the Uzumakis made their way back to the compound in the hidden leaf. Kushina and Naruto were the last to leave as it was the clan heads duty to make sure the seal on all of Uzu territories were secure and no one could detect the barriers in place. After taking care of that the two went home where Naruto's father was there to greet them. "Did you have fun Naruto?" He asked from the table. Naruto rushed up to him and gave a quick hug. He was trying to practice keeping clans secrets so he nodded and told him about the great feast they had." A feast you say? Well this ramen we'll go to waste then I've had my fill and from what you told me I don't think you could eat another bite!" He chuckled. "Thank you Minato. I'll be down in a minute to help you clean this up. Naruto let's get you to bed ok you start at the academy in a few weeks and the training needs to start now or the seal will overwhelm you with information." He nodded and headed to his room. He'd taken the first step towards his goal and he couldn't wait get started with training in the morning. After his mom came up to tuck him in and congratulated him on his Testing Day, he dozed off. The next few weeks Naruto worked with Karin,Kyō, and Kenshin on fine chakra control and fuinjutsu. Outside of these times they would split into faction training so the boys didn't see Karin for most of the day. Kyō was training in both the alchemy and smithing arts before he went off to practice some of the basics in Uzumaki kenjutsu. Naruto and Kenshin saw each other the most apart from the pact .trading where they had different tutors. Because he had a deeper understanding of the demon that he'd been deemed compatible with he started taking the necessary training in magic in purgatorio no to far from Naruto who while he didn't need to be there worked on ninjutsu and experimental fuinjutsu respectively. Every night bed Naruto would try and meditate on the connection he had with his compatible demon. So far he hadn't made much progress.
"NARUTO!! WAKE! UP!!!" Was the first thing the Uzumaki heir heard nearly scaring him out of bed. He quickly made his way to the shower, got dressed and grabbed supplies. " There you are! If you don't hurry and eat your breakfast your going to be late on your first day." His mother told him. She was right of course he quickly made his way over to the table and scarfed down his meal. Today he would meet his peers in the ninja world, his future teammates, and his potential friends! "Okay kaa san! I'm heading out nowww!" He said making his way towards the door. When he stepped outside he found his friends waiting for him. "Naruto what took you so long we were waiting around fore-" Karin started. "Ah no no no, we don't have time for that. He's out now, so let's go!" Kyō said. Kenshin simply waved from his spot next to his sister. They walked out of the compound and headed for the academy. The walk wasn't terribly long as the Uzumaki was located just a district away. They were lucky enough to end up with the same teacher. Upon entering Naruto noted that almost all the clan heirs in Konoha were in this class. Some of the names escaped him but he recognized the heirs of the Nara, Yamanaka, and Akimichi clans.Next to them was the Kurama clan heir, she'd was allowed to join the academy after Naruto's mom managed to seal away her "Ido" whatever that was. I'm the upper right corner two girls were chatting about something. The one on the right had pale lavender eyes with no pupils. She was obviously the Hyuga princess. And then there was the girl with two red dots in the middle of her forehead. What's her name again…Rio? Naruto thought. He took a seat in the middle row next to some kid with tall hair and shades. If he had to guess he was from the Aburame clan. "Alright class let's do roll call." Knowing he'd be near the end Naruto decided to only pay attention to a few names here and there and make sure he'd know the heirs names. These were the people Naruto would have to work with in the future after all. The Akimichi boy was named Choji. He reminded him of Kenshin with his gentle demeanor. The Nara was named Shikamaru, something he learned after the Yamanaka heiress Ino started screaming at him to wake up. She has to be calmed down by some girl named Sakura Haruno, who uniquely has pink hair. She was one of the few civilians in the class. Then there was the boy next Naruto Shino Aburame, he was oddly quiet even more then Kenshin. The Hyuga princess was shockingly timid if what his aunties said were true. Her name was Hinata and despite her stutter she seemed like a princess in every other way. Lastly there was Yakumo from the Kurama clan.
"Okay class who can tell me what chakra is?" As expected most of the clan kids raised their hand. "You." The teacher pointed in the third row."Chakra as shinobis use it is the combination of mental and physical energy." Sakura said. "Unexpected from a civilian, well done." The teacher said. "Today we will do some practical exercises, I will show you how to mold chakra and test you for how big your chakra pool is. Now I don't want anyone trying to tease anyone else for their abilities in chakra. We're all just starting out and can all strive to improve." "Yes Sensei!" The class lined up and followed their sensei outside. They were meant to unlock their chakra via hand seals and push it into a seal. The array would be lit up on varying sizes depending on the size of the chakra pool. "Now if anyone has already unlocked chakra and wishes to test themselves first-" the teacher tried to say when suddenly "ME!" Two voices yelled in unison. A boy with red markings on his cheeks and spiky brown hair and another with black hair in a style Naruto insisted resembled a ducks butt. "I'm going first you hear!" The kid with the brown hair said. "I'm an Uchiha, I deserve to go first." The duck butt guy replied in a snarky tone. "So you're from a clan big deal, im an Inuzuka." The kid said. "That explains the stench." The Uchiha responded with an eye roll. Naruto was starting to get a little bored and offered to make the same seal so they could finish the exercise already."Sensei, I can make a seal like that no problem! These two are just gonna yell the whole time if I don't do something and I figure this way we can do it faster." He explained. The teacher thought over the proposal and seeing as how the other students had been helped and now wait for the next step too…"Okay Naruto, if you think you can do it. Here's some ink and paper." Naruto took the supplies and quickly drew up a chakra storage seal. He'd been making seals like this for years now on a much more rigorous level so a simple level one seal meant nothing to him. The two boys walked up to the seals and pumped as much chakra as possible. They had the same amount though just above average for their age. The seal had half a circle lit which meant they were almost Genin. This was the case for most clan kids. The civilians managed about half that at best, thought they were told with time and training their chakra pools would grow. "Uzumaki Karin, Uzumaki Kenshin step forward." The class watched as the twin Uzumakis pushed their chakra into the seal. When it reached a full circle their sensei expected them to be tired. But they managed to push another half circle. "Wow almost Chūnin, the Uzumaki stamina is no joke!" Their sensei chuckled. When Kyō and Naruto went up the results were relatively the same which made sense to the kids. Naruto making full Chūnin levels, bringing praise from the class. "Okay everyone keep note of your results today. You will see improvement from the exercises we covered today." And with that the kids were released from the academy with homework on chakra theory and the different handseals.
The Uzumaki quartet hurried back to the compound. It wasn't often their parents would be able to pick them up as they all had important jobs. Naruto's case was obvious, as for the rest of their little quartet it was slightly different. Kimiko, Karin and Kenshin's mom worked as head of Konohas sealing department. A more demanding job then it sounded even for an Uzumaki. Kyō's mother was a was an active duty Tokujō working in TI and both their fathers ran training for the clan which was a job in itself. The quartet was quick to do their homework and meet back up before training which would take up the rest of the day. Thus was the routine for the Uzumaki quartet academy, homework, training, sleep. This was a tightly run system meant for Satomi's tweaked seal to reach max efficiency while give the barer a since of choice in what they chose to learn. It was a bit harder for the Eddy faction as they had to catch up on grit alone. They were usually better off for it though. Months went by without deviation from this schedule. Until one winters day when Naruto found his class mate Hinata in the cold surrounded by a bunch of older kids. She was in tears and the kids were laughing at her. Naruto went to act when Hinata suddenly struck the boy in front of her. He fell back and his lackeys ceased their laughter." She really is a freak!" One shouted. "She probably used those demon eyes to scare the boss before she hit him!" another said. They closed in on her and Naruto could see she was going to freeze up and get hurt. "Hey! Leave her alone, what can you say about demons when YOU GUYS are attacking a princess." Naruto jumped in front of his classmate. "Oh look the heir of Konoha's biggest foreigner clan." A girl said. "My dad says you and the Kaguyas came crawling here after you failed to protect your homes in the war! You're clan is just a bunch of tomato head losers!!!" Naruto knew the words had little weight to them but he couldn't allow his family to be disrespected like that. He got into a brawlers stance and fought with the older kids. When he thought all of them had been defeated he turned to Hinata and started to ask if she wanted to walk home with him. Her eyes widened and she struck towards his face or so he thought. The Uzumaki heir turned on his heels when he heard a thud behind him. The other boy had been clutching a kunani in his hand. "Thank you Hinata chan. I guess I still need to get stronger if I want to protect people ya know?" Naruto said sheepishly. "Th-thank you Uzumaki san. I'm s-sorry you had to see me in that st-st-state." Hinata said with her head down. A pair of hands grabbed her shoulders and started to shake her. "No way! I should be thanking YOU! That guy was definitely gonna get the jump on me if it wasn't for you and you took him out with one hit. ONE HIT, the same for that other guy too." Hinata was startled by the yelling and even more so the praise she was receiving. She'd heard what the elders said about her and how weak they determined she would be. But here was this boy talking about her as if she'd been a war hero. "Hey I get things can be tuff when you're all alone. If I didn't have my family I don't think I'd be the kind of person who wants to be strong enough to protect people. You did some really cool stuff just now I bet you could've beaten these guys up yourself." Naruto said. "It helped. Um you being there I mean." She replied. " So let's do it then." Naruto told her. "Let's get super strong. Together!" He held out a fist to her and she mimicked the action. That was the first friend Naruto ever made. And though he didn't know it it was the first life he changed too.
