A/N: This one doesn't fit the timeline of the main fic, because Calanthe would have to be alive for this scene to happen.
~ Baby Roach Drabbles ~
"Grandmother!" Ciri cried out, flinging herself into Calanthe's arms.
Geralt stood awkwardly off to the side with Baby Roach (in her small-child form) on his hip, while Calanthe swept Ciri up into a bear hug.
Eist was also standing slightly off to the side, watching his wife and granddaughter's reunion with such a sappy expression on his face that Geralt suffered secondhand embarrassment after barely glancing at him.
After a few long minutes, Ciri pulled away from her grandmother and turned to embrace Eist.
At his point, Baby Roach decided that she wanted a hug too, and slipped out of Geralt's hold to approach Calanthe.
"Grandmother," she called out, holding up her arms in the universal gesture for 'hug me'.
Calanthe, who only knew that this child had been introduced as 'Geralt's daughter, Daisy' and had therefore assumed she must be another Child Surprise that had been claimed by the witcher, had no idea how to react to this strange child getting confused and thinking Calanthe was also her grandmother.
Fortunately for her, others in the room were swifter in gathering their wits. Geralt caught the child and gathered her up into his arms.
Ciri turned and snapped, "She's my grandmother, not yours!"
The little one pouted as she replied, "Mean Ciri. You need to learn how to share."
"That's not how bloodlines work!"
