The Room, Unslept in
A/N: Time for Chapter 14! These two continue to make plans for their future.
PS – I don't own any of the characters from Who's the Boss? I also don't own the song(s) I use in this story. I also don't own the dialogue I sometimes use in the chapters. I've tried to pick songs that remind me of Tony & Angela and their relationship. If you'd like to hear them, check out YouTube – you can find just about everything there.

Chapter 14: Making Plans, Part II
"Prepare to go back to Iowa – Check
Get Hank a plane ticket - Check
Get Re-engaged – Check
Decide on wedding date – Check
Make decision about Amniocentesis – Check
Decide not to find out our baby's sex - Check …."
Angela was sitting at her vanity table in their bedroom with a pen and paper. She was tapping the pen on the table as she thought about the list. Tony had turned on their fireplace giving the room a toasty warmth since it was a cool evening even though it was June. She was rattling off a list of plans they'd made over the past two days. Tony was sitting at the edge of their bed impatiently awaiting the demonstration that was promised to him the night before. "Angela, I think you promised me something last night. Maybe we can go over the list …. later?"
She turned around to look at Tony and got up from her chair to walk over to him. She certainly couldn't resist those sweet, longing puppy dog eyes looking back at her. They had a long Monday and she was tired, but nothing could stop her from keeping that promise to Tony, not after two months of not being together.

Angela and Tony were lying in their bed gazing at each other after she completed her description and Tony completed the demonstration of what she wanted from him instead of housekeeping services that she had promised the night before. She wore them both out. "Care to describe again how much you missed me, Angela - wow," Tony intimated as he started humming I Did it My Way.
"Tony, you really did wind up eating your words…" she said in a deep voice laughing and caressing his cheek. "But tonight, I think you did it my way."
"Oh, our first night together when I started working here," he laughed. Yeah, and the words were very tasty."
She blushed as she gave him a little tap on his shoulder. "Who would have thought we'd end up together like this?" She shook her head still in disbelief remembering how they started out. Never in her life could she have imagined falling in love with her housekeeper.
"I wish I'd have said something sooner, Angela. We lost so much time," Tony pined.
"Tony, we need to stop talking about all of our regrets about not getting together sooner. We both made mistakes. We both mistook cues we offered to each other." She purposely left out another mistake that was made, and not by her. "We needed all this time to get things right for us - and for our family. But, yeah, if someone had told me to gaze into a crystal ball those first couple of years, I wouldn't have seen this. Mother would've," she said nonchalantly, "but not me."
"Agreed, no more talking about being together sooner. We lived together for almost nine years. We were together, just not 'together' this way. We became best friends first, which is so special to me. But, okay – no more regrets. We wound up just right," Tony acquiesced cuddling Angela closer to him.
They went back to talking more about plans for their immediate future.
In less than 24 hours, he and Hank would be flying back to Iowa. Tony was going to drive the Jag to the airport and then turn the car back over to Angela so she could drive Mona and herself into the city for work.
"Tony, I'm going to call Isabel and Wendy to go out to dinner. I'll tell them about our news and invite them to be in our wedding party. I remember how upset Wendy was when Isabel picked me instead of Wendy to stand up with her at her own wedding, I want to make sure Wendy gets included. I'll also ask them not to say anything to anyone until after we have the chance to let people know."
"Honey, you think of everything, don't you?" Tony pecked Angela's lips complimenting her.
"Well, you know me and my lists. What about a new housekeeper? Will you help me pick out someone competent? I can't go through the process of picking someone out again, even though Mother has been working with the agency," Angela pleaded to Tony in frustration.
"Ange, this is ourhouse, Tony told Angela with emphasis on 'our.'" I'll help take care of it. We don't need another housekeeper. We'll need a nanny after the baby is born and you go back to work. But, while I'm looking for a new teaching job, I'll cook and clean. We've never had a traditional household, so why change things now? It worked before, and it can work again. I am not getting paid for this anymore, this is our partnership."
Angela was touched as they talked more about their future. Angela thought about how she never lacked support for her career from Tony. She didn't even have to question whether or not she was going back to work after the baby arrived. Tony already knew she had a team who relied on her Agency for their livelihood. He knew how much her career was a part of her, just as much as being a mother was and he was.
"Tony, I plan to take the full three months off after the baby is born. I never got to do that the first time around with Jonathan. I don't want to miss bonding time with this baby."
'Angela, you do whatever you choose." Tony agreed. "I'll be here to support whatever you decide about work and the baby." Then he reached down to touch the baby bump again. Angela reached out to touch his cheek.
"I also need to talk to Mrs. Rossini," Tony said remembering he hadn't told her he was coming back to Connecticut yet.
"How about we go in person when you get back next week," Angela suggested. "We can see Billy, too! I haven't talked to either of them since coming back here," Angela admitted sadly.
Tony hugged her close to him. "Sure, we can do that next Sunday."
They finally stopped talking. Angela moved her head to Tony's shoulder with her arm across his chest. He held her close to him. They cozily fell asleep in each other's arm, each needing that closeness to fall asleep.

As planned, they went to the airport on Tuesday, a bright, sunny June morning. Jonathan and Samantha were at school, so they weren't able to go along. They'd wished Tony and Hank safe travels before they left for school. Tony was careful not to be noticed as he left the house since they'd agreed not to let anyone know he was back home yet. When they got to the airport, Mona stayed in the car while Angela, Tony, and Hank got out.
Angela started to cry as departing flights could be heard overhead.
"Aww, Sweetheart, Angela, don't cry. We'll be back in less than a week. We've got a wedding to plan and a graduation to go to in the next few weeks."
"Tony, I know, but it's so hard to see you leave again, even if I know you'll be back soon," Angela pouted. She wished these hormones would let up a little.
"Maybe some extra hugs will help bridge the time. We'll talk on the phone every day." Tony and Angela gave each other extra-long kisses and hugs.
Hank got the bags out of the car and waited for Tony and Angela to part. Finally, Angela let go and wiped Tony's cheeks off from the tears she'd just shed.
"Ooh, Tony, wait here by the car, I need to go find a restroom," Angela told him before she rushed into the busy airport looking for a bathroom. She hurried back out to where Tony and Hank were waiting for her. She hugged Tony again.
She and Mona watched as Hank and Tony walked through the sliding doors of the airport entrance. Mona moved into the front seat of the Jag. Then Angela got into the driver's seat and left for the drive into Manhattan.

Tony called Angela as soon as he got to his apartment to let her know they'd arrived. Angela promised she'd tell Samantha that Hank had arrived safely as soon as she got back home from Ridgemont.
Tony and Hank took a look around the apartment to see what was ahead of them to get ready to leave by Friday.
"We'll get this done in time, Tony," Hank said confidently looking around. He saw most of the belongings Tony had were books and papers, so it wouldn't be that difficult to get things boxed up quickly.
"Thanks again for coming back with me, Hank. I really appreciate it. I think Angela wanted to come, but never said anything especially after you volunteered to help out."
"Sure, Tony. I don't think Angela would've been comfortable being on the road for so many hours since she'd been so sick recently."
"Yeah, you're right. Whata you say we get down to getting this apartment packed up?" Tony and Hank went out to get boxes to bring back to the apartment. They started pulling down books from the shelves in the living room and putting them into the boxes.

Angela was the first to arrive at Blackstones Steakhouse. The maître d led her to a secluded table to give them some privacy as Angela requested. She was glad that both Isabel and Wendy were available on such short notice and accepted her invitation for dinner out. It was a rare evening off for Isabel. And Wendy always made herself available when there might be good gossip to listen to. Angela was relieved to see that no one she knew was at the restaurant.
Wendy arrived first, making herself comfortable in her seat as she scrunched the material beneath her as she moved her chair a little closer to Angela.
Isabel arrived soon after and joined the two women at their secluded table.
A server came over to take their drink orders. Once again, Angela did not order any liquor selecting Ginger Ale instead.
"Not drinking again, Angela?" Wendy asked suspiciously.
Um, well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. No longer able to hold back her exciting news, Angela blurted out in a loud whisper, "I'm getting married in a few weeks."
Wendy and Isabel raised their eyebrows in utter shock and amazement and demanded immediate answers from Angela. Then their questions came at her like rapid fire. Angela's head got tired of turning to each woman as their questions kept coming.
"Who are you marrying?"
"What happened?"
"How did you meet this guy without us knowing about him?"
"Angela, you work fast!" That wasn't a question, but it got a loud laugh out of Angela.
"When are you getting married?"
"Where are you getting married?"
"Slow down, slow down," Angela motioned with her hands hoping to quiet the two friends she was with, "and I'll fill you in on everything. First, you've obviously picked up on my not ordering any wine tonight."
No longer wanting to keep Isabel and Wendy in suspense, she motioned for Isabel and Wendy to get closer to her. When they were within earshot, she let the cat out of the bag. "Tony, I'm marrying Tony! We're having a baby!"
"Angela, wow, but how?' Wendy asked amusingly.
Isabel gave Wendy a friendly swipe. "Wendy, you should already know the how. Lucky there's a doctor at this table with you."
"That's not what I meant."
"I know, I was teasing you."
Their conversation was interrupted by their server showing up with their drinks. Each then gave their order quickly so they could get back to Angela's story.
"So, let us in on your secret, Angela. Inquiring minds need to know NOW!" Wendy turned back to Angela desperately wanting answers.
Angela started at the beginning of her weekend. "This past Friday night, I was getting out of the bathtub and getting ready for bed. The doorbell rang, and no one answered. I went downstairs and opened the door. Tony was standing there in a tuxedo telling me he came home. He didn't know about the baby. Both of us wound up shocked that night," Angela related the amazing reunion story to her friends.
"So, our delayed and then cancelled wedding is back on again," she said gleefully. I'm three months pregnant and we don't want to wait to be married anymore. So, we're getting married in our backyard Fourth of July weekend. I want both of you to be part of my wedding party. If you want to be, of course," Angela added.
Isabel and Wendy both chimed in at the same moment, "Of course and congratulations, Angela." All three women squealed in excitement causing a few people to look towards their table to see what was causing the commotion. Angela held up her engagement ring and got approving nods from the on-lookers.
"Angela, you said Tony didn't know about the baby before he came home?" Isabel was back in her doctor mode as she queried Angela. "You came back from Iowa pregnant? Oh, my. That must've been awkward for Tony to find out like that."
"Yeah, it was a difficult evening for us – even with all the joyful news of us getting back together. I'm not ready to talk any more about it right now."
Isabel gave Angela a hug, and told her she was available any time she needed to talk.
"Thanks, Isabel," Angela told her gratefully.
Wendy watched on as the two women connected over Angela's surprising news. Then she also gave Angela a congratulatory hug.
The three women ate their dinners once they arrived and talked about Angela's upcoming nuptials. Angela filled them in on the rudimentary details she had for the wedding, and there weren't even many of those.
After dinner, they went outside to collect their vehicles and drove back home.

Chapter 15 coming soon … Actually, this was supposed to be one long chapter, but I had to break it up into a part three of making plans because it was way too long for one chapter.
