Quick reminder; I'm using the anime effect of the Cyberdarks, so don't be confused if they target differently than they would normally in the TCG. Similarly, I took the liberty of allowing monster effects that summon monsters from the deck (i.e. Mystic Tomato and the like) to work even if the other duelist has their turn.

Chapter 38:

"Man, I didn't expect anyone to be here already. Right, Sy?" Jaden laughed as he swiped away the sweat from his brow. Before him, half a dozen Obelisk Blue students retreated into the woods with their golf carts after being defeated by them. He looked around only to see his short roommate sitting on a big rock, a look of exhaustion and amazement on his face.

"I … I can't believe it. I-I really won!" Syrus said, staring at his hands in wonder. "I'm not dreaming, am I?"

"No way! Here, let me show you." Jaden replied and walked over to his friend. Once there, he pinched his arm.

"Oww!" Syrus cried out and pulled away.

"See? You're not dreaming; you really beat them!" Jaden laughed once more. "All that training sure paid off, didn't it?"

"… awesome …" Syrus then let out a long breath. "But did we really have to run so fast?"

"What do you mean? The faster we go the more we can duel!"

Syrus chuckled weekly at his friend's antics. "Only thinking about dueling as always. I'm not good at running, but don't let that stop you from getting more duels, big bro."

"You sure?"

"Yeah, I'll catch up with you in a minute or two." Syrus nodded.

"Alright!" Jaden stretched with a big grin on his face. "I think I saw Chazz over there and there was something I wanted to ask him. I'll be right back!" With that, he ran off.

Now all alone, Syrus sighed. After all the losses he had suffered since the year started, things really had begun to take a step up for him. He'd won not just one, but three duels in a row. And against Obelisk Blue students at that! He'd never managed to beat Jaden in their daily duels, but that was to be expected. The only people able to beat his big bro were Blake and Zane …

Perhaps he should really try and go for it and challenge his real brother. He didn't have any disillusions about being able to beat him – not even Jaden had managed that – but it was important. Bot just to him as a duelist, but to him as a brother. Maybe then, Zane would stop looking down at him and finally respect him as a duelist.

With his mind set, he raised his hands and clapped his cheeks and put on his war face. Yeah, he'd show him and everyone else! He got up and looked around in search of a good way forward. Once he found a path through the woods he immediately got going.

He walked for a few minutes before the rustling of the nearby bushes had him raise his duel disk, ready to duel whoever might come out of it. He furrowed his eyes when instead of another Obelisk Blue student their tall, lanky dorm head stumbled out, several leaves and small branches sticking out off his hair.

"Yahaha, you found me!" Professor Banner said with a cheerful laugh.

"Professor Banner? What are you doing here?" Syrus couldn't help but ask, lowering his duel disk as he did.

"Excellent question, dear student. The good doctor didn't tell you folks everything about this little game, you see." Banner replied. "There are some special hidden events any student can encounter, and you just so happened to have stumbled into mine!"

"Special hidden event?" Syrus repeated.

"Indeed! Not just that but I've heard a few Obelisk students pass by earlier, talking about how they lost to you. I must admit, I'm impressed." Banner said. "I knew you had it in you, Syrus."

"Aww, now you're just trying to flatter me." Syrus waved him off sheepishly.

"No, no, it's true. Which is why I have a very special event to offer you." Banner leaned in close. "How would you like an early promotion duel?"

"A promotion duel? You can do that?" Syrus asked with bright and widened eyes.

"Indeed, I can. You just have to beat me with a few minor extra rules and you're as good as in Ra Yellow." The professor explained.

"Awesome! I'm in!" Syrus exclaimed happily, jumping up and down in excitement.

"Very good. Then please follow me, I have just the spot for us to duel … uninterrupted …" Banner said, his red eyes twinkling in the low light.

Blake stared at Don Zaloog. 'It's gotta be a bluff. He had his sight on me ever since he saw me at the meeting. Kami didn't respond to him saying she knew what I was doing, so there's no harm done. Not like he'll get anywhere to tell someone about it even if he finds out.'

His eyes then wandered to the other Dark Scorpion member. 'But what's she doing here? Zaloog should be the only one with a Shadow Charm and thus able to duel. Unless …'

"She's a real beauty, isn't she?" Zaloog asked with a grin. "Though I don't think your little lady appreciates you looking at other woman."

Blake rolled his eyes at that. "Her ego isn't that fragile … I think-"

"Hey!"

"- but is your friend here really going to duel us?"

"Oh no, no. The duel disk on my arm is just for decoration." Meanae replied, waving him off. "I just thought it looked neat."

"Why are you asking? Scared to fight in a tag duel, boy?" Zaloog taunted. "Little puppy not able to be a team player?"

Blake growled at him. "Oh, I'll show you a team player." He was still wary of the other Dark Scorpion. Zaloog originally ran a pretty bad Dark Scorpions deck, so what would she be using? Can they even use the cards resembling each other? What about the other Dark Scor-

Zaloog laughed at Blake's widening eyes. "Finally using your brain, kiddo?"

Kami looked between the two with a frown. "What's he talking about?"

"Simple, little missy." Zaloog said and got her attention. "You thought you're smart when you got other duelists to support you. But two can play this game. Or, in our case, five." He shot them a big grin.

"Wait … you don't mean?!" Kami took a step back in shock.

"None of you are safe from us! As we speak, my team is engaging other guardians; and we're not alone!" The spirit threw back his head and laughed, his fellow spirit doing the same. They kept laughing until a ring of dark smoke encircled the four of them. "What do you think you're doing, boy?"

Blake, who'd revealed his now shining Shadow Charm, tilted his head to the side with a malicious smile on his face. "What do you mean? I got tired of waiting for your weak asses." His smile dropped. "Let's get this over with."

Dark tendrils crept up their bodies, taking hold of their legs and arms, much to the shock of Kami. "What is this?!"

"Seems like your little boyfriend wants this to hurt, fine by me." Zaloog sneered. "I'd have preferred to spare you the pain, but it was your choice to duel in the first place."

She whipped her head around at her partner. "Blake? What the hell?!" She screeched.

He looked at her for a few moments, then rolled his eyes. "You'll be fine; you're the Queen, aren't you? Or was your win against Alexis just a fluke?" A dark thought pushed away his possible concern for her, instead waving his opponents off. 'Not like these two will be a challenge to being with …'

She glared at him, both angry from that comment and worried about how this whole scenario was going already. "Hmpf, I'll show you a fluke." She then turned to their opponents. "Ladies first!"

Their duel disks activated, and Kami took the first turn. (Kami + Blake 8000 / Zaloog + Meanae 8000)

"I set a monster and another card face-down." Kami stated as she did the classic t-start.

"Not much for a supposed queen, hm?" Meanae teased and took over. "I set a monster and a face-down as well, but before I end my turn, I activate Burden of the Mighty! This reduces your monsters attack points by their level times 100!" Their side of the field got enclosed like it was one big nest with little chicks sitting on its outskirts and chirping angrily towards Kami and Blake.

'No doubt to make it easier to trigger their effects despite their lack-luster stats …' Blake thought. "Alright, let's get this over with. I summon Inferal Dragon." In front of Blake, a vicious looking green dragon with dark wings and a tail ending in a spiked trident appeared, roaring angrily (2000/0).

'Normally I'd never run a monster like this, but for this deck it actually serves a good purpose. Gotta see if I have to adjust the deck as a whole though …' He mused before ordering his dragon to attack. His monster rushed forward and over the middle of the field, causing it to slow down and weaken at the angry sounds of the chicks (1600/0), just enough for it to not be able to destroy its target. (Kami + Blake 7800 / Zaloog + Meanae 8000)

The defending monster turned out to be a copy of Dark Scorpion – Meanae the Thorn herself (1000/1800), which promptly triggered her effect. Meanae added a copy of herself to her hand.

"I set two cards and end my turn." Blake announced. At that moment his dragon blew up. "Oh, yeah. When Infernal Dragon attacked it gets destroyed at the end of the turn." 'The other part of its effect might come in handy later, so I'll keep that to myself.'

"So much for the great Hound, eh? Knew you were nothing more than a pushover." Zaloog taunted. "First off, I summon myself!" An almost perfect copy of Don Zaloog appeared on the field, just his eyepatch was leathern instead of golden (1400/1500).

"So, you're playing with yourself? In front of minors at that?" Blake mocked with a snort. "Not that those small attack points of yours could do any harm."

"We Dark Scorpions might not be excessively strong on our own, but we don't need to be: We're a team. And as a team, we support each other." He recounted and stared off into space for a few seconds. "You could it is … United We Stand." A Spell card appeared behind Don Zaloog, the monster not Don Zaloog the duelist, displaying a handshake. Energy began to surround his monster, a part of that energy coming from the monster itself while the other was provided by Meanae, the monster not the duelist (3000/1500).

'Urgh, this is so stupid.' Blake thought to himself, doing his best to differentiate between them. He then shot his partner a look. "Nothing to worry about, right?"

Kami huffed at that, though with a small smile. "Of course not! My plan is flawless, you'll see."

"Let's find out if that's really the case, eh, missy?" Zaloog asked while he switched Meanae into attack position. "Now, my less handsome self will attack your set monster!" The fighting copy of Zaloog shot him a deadpan glare like he wanted to say "Really now?" before getting into action. Both pistols fired at his target, revealing a large blue grizzly which was promptly destroyed. The monster left behind a big water bubble, though.

"The effect of my Mother Grizzly activates!" Kami announced with a smirk. "When she's destroyed by battle, I can special summon 1 Water monster with 1500 or less attack points from my deck in attack position! Say hello to Unshaven Angler!" The bubble exploded and out came a big anglerfish with razor-sharp teeth (1500/1600). It too got weakened by the chirping baby birds, but it was still strong enough to be save from Meanae (1100/1600).

"Grr, I set a card face-down and pass." Zaloog growled before pointing at Blake. "You got lucky the little lady saved you, punk."

"Oh, I got the feeling my little lady's gonna rock your shit. Better watch out." Blake replied, knowing what the effect of Kami's new monster was.

"Ohohoho~" Kami laughed in her hoity-toity rich-girl way. "Now I'll show you that you should think twice before challenging me. First, I tribute my Unshaven Angler! When I'm going to summon a Water monster, he can be counted as 2 tributes! Arise from the depths; Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth!" A large puddle of water built up underneath the anglerfish, before a massive blueish-gray fish on two big claws erupted out of it and swallowed the poor thing whole. Its blue eyes shined maliciously, as did its sharp teeth (2800/2200), though it too was weakened greatly by the burden of chicks (2100/2200).

"He's big, alright. But he's not big enough for us other than as a meal!" Zaloog laughed.

"My monster doesn't like fighting alone either, you know." Kami chided with a wiggle of her finger, causing the spirit to stop laughing. "I activate my monster's effect! By discarding 1 card, I get to summon as many Level 4 or lower Fish monsters from my deck as possible. They can neither attack nor activate their effects while on the field, however." She put on card in her GY, causing her monster to let out a deafening roar.

This roar, this call, was answered by two red eels (600/100 - 500/100) and two humanoid clam-people (1600/200 - 1300/200) who took up defensive positions around their fishy king. "I summon two copies of Deepsea Macrotrema and Oyster Meister each to the field!"

The two Dark Scorpions looked at the scene with wide eyes before breaking out in laughter. "Alright, you had me there for a second missy. But what's this glorified seafood gonna do to us?"

"This. I activate my Trap card: Fish Depth Charge! By tributing 1 Fish monster, I get to target and destroy one card on the field and then draw a card." Kami declared. "I offer up one of my Deepsea Macrotrema! Say goodbye to your less-handsome self."

The fish in question was propelled forward and shot right through its target, destroying Don Zaloog, the monster, and with him his Equip spell. The spirit growled at that, but Kami wasn't done just yet. She daintily drew her card. "Oh, and when Deepsea Macrotrema is send from the field to the graveyard, all my Water monsters gain 500 attack points for the turn. Not like that'll be a problem for you, right?"

Blake, who'd been watching their exchange with mild amusement, had to reevaluate the fishy deck. 'Now if only she could do more with them than that. Maybe we really should teach the Fish how to Synchro Summon …'

'To what now?' DAD echoed in his mind.

'Synchro Summon.'

'What, what?'

'… forget it, we're not there yet.'

'I've never heard of a summon like that. Can you elaborate?'Jinzo continued.

'It's when you summon a monster-'

'Wait, I seem to have stopped caring.' DAD grunted in annoyance.

Blake rolled his eyes, a jolt from his Shadow Charm making him refocus on what his partner was doing.

"That won't be the only boost my monsters will get, because I just drew this: A Legendary Ocean!" Kami announced and caused their whole surroundings to change. They were now underwater, with big coral and Atlantean looking buildings surrounding them. Just on the edge of the field, it seemed like a great leviathan was circling the underwater city. "This grants my Water monsters another 200 points to both attack and defense! Not only that; their Levels on the field and in my hand are reduced by 1!" All of her monsters were enveloped in shining blue water, with her boss monster now being as strong as he was before the weakening again (2800/2400).

"King Coelacanth, show them who's the ruler of the sea!" Kami ordered and the big fish shot out a stream of high-pressured water, which ripped Meanae, the monster, to shreds. (Kami + Blake 7800 / Zaloog + Meanae 6100)

Satisfied with her handwork, Kami set another card face-down and ended her turn, before she turned to Blake. "So?"

"So what?"

"Still think I won because of a fluke?"

"Hmm … it worked out well until now. Let's keep this up, shall we?" He replied, trying not to laugh at her pout. "Yeah, yeah, you did well. Amazing even. Truly the strongest duelist here."

She turned away, but he saw her blushing. 'Never thought someone like her wanted to be praised like this. The more you know.'

"Don't think your little aquarium will protect you from us! My turn!" Meanae announced. "First I summon another copy of myself to the field, then I activate my set card; Call of the Haunted to bring back my beloved Zaloog!" And just like that, the two were back.

"After your little ploy I think it's only fair to return the favor! I activate the Spell card Dark Scorpion – Tragedy of Love!" She continued and the two monsters began … dancing? "By sending my Meanae to the graveyard, her beloved will exact revenge and destroy all monsters on your side of the field!" The two monsters broke apart and Meanae left with tears in her eyes, prompting Zaloog to pull out his guns and … misfire.

"Not so fast!" Kami said. "You're not the only one who can play in a team. I activate my partners Trap card; Magic Jammer! I discard a card and nullify your spells effect!"

To say their opponents were shocked to see their great move countered would be an understatement. Meanae was gaping like a fish as she turned to her partner and began whispering angrily at him.

"Oy, lovers quarrel later, duel now!" Blake barked after they'd been going at it for a full minute.

They shot him angry glares but he didn't budge. With a huff, Meanae continued her turn. "Fine. I activate The A. Forces. This gives all of our Warrior monsters 200 attack points for each Warrior monster on our side of the field." Zaloog got a minor powerup that looked like he just got more jacked (1600/1500). "Darling, destroy her little red fish. Can't have her boost herself again!"

The remaining Deepsea Macrotrema was turned into Swiss cheese, empowering its fellow fish as it left.

"I end my turn."

"Alright, time to pull out my new toys." Blake said with a smile. "I summon Cyberdark Horn!" The head of the original three Cyberdarks appeared, rustling its skeletal wings and mechanical horns hungrily (800/800). It looked around and zeroed in on the two spirits fighting them, causing it to screech and pounce on its spot, only held back by the rules of the duel as it fletched its teeth.

The Dark Scorpions flinched back from the sudden animosity. "What in the Hungry Burger is that?" Meanae asked.

"I don't know, but it's creeping me out." Zaloog shook his head. "It's so weak, though."

"That's where you wrong." Blake stated and snapped his fingers. "Cyberdark Horn's effect: When it gets normal summoned, I can target a Level 4 or lower Dragon monster from my graveyard and equip it to it, granting it attack points equal to that monster's. Good thing my Infernal Dragon destroyed itself, eh?"

Hearing that, Horn burrowed into the sandy ground beneath it and pulled out the body of Infernal dragon before it put itself on top of it by jabbing some of its parts into the Dragon's body (2800/800).

His opponents gulped audibly, much to his own delight, and even more so his new monsters. A sudden rush of excitement pumped through his veins as his Shadow Charm twinkled ever so slightly.

"Horn, grab yourself a snack." Blake said with a wide smile. His monster wasted no time and pounced on the opposing monster and ripped it to shreds hungrily. (Kami + Blake 7800 / Zaloog + Meanae 5300)

Zaloog, who'd just seen a copy of himself getting chopped up and partly eaten, went pale.

"Deepsea King, direct attack." The big fish looked at him for just a moment but complied nonetheless. A direct hit from its water beam got their opponents thoroughly soaked and most of their outfit full of holes. (Kami + Blake 7800 / Zaloog + Meanae 2900)

"That's it from me. Care to finish this on your turn, princess?" Blake joked.

Kami looked unamused at that. "Sure thing, puppy."

They glared at each other for a bit. Then, Zaloog made his move. "Alright, we might've gotten some wrong intel from the boss. We definitely should've demanded more money for this …"

"You know you're gonna lose, right?" Blake asked.

"… it's likely, but we're not done yet." Zaloog admitted, dropping his mighty ego. "I activate Pot of Greed. Ha! Just what I needed: Heavy Storm! It'll-"

"Judgment of Anubis. I discard one card and your effect that destroys our backrow is nullified." Blake said offhandedly.

Zaloog's eye twitched. "Then it's time to go on the offensive again! I summon another copy of myself, then I activate Mustering of the Dark Scorpions! If I control a Don Zaloog, I get to summon as many Dark Scorpion monsters from my hand as possible, but only one per name! Say hello to Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong and to Dark Scorpion - Cliff the Trap Remover!"

A hulking mass of muscle in form of a bald man wielding an equally big morning star appeared next to a sneaky looking man with glasses and a dagger, both wearing the same brown leather and red cloth outfit as the others.

"Due to our active The A. Forces, all my monsters get 600 attack points!" The three monsters nodded to each other and got into combat stances, now even more jacked (2000/1600) (2400/1500) (1800/1000).

Zaloog seemed to contemplate what to attack, but when Cyberdark Horn hissed loudly once more, his mind was made up. "Let's get rid of that disgusting creature first! Gorg, I'm sorry but you'll have to take it down with you." Gorg only nodded and rushed in, hammering away at its target. Horn in response threw the corpse of Infernal Dragon at him and skewered them both, destroying them.

"Now here's the fun part, Zaloog." Blake began. "When my Cyberdark Horn would be destroyed by battle, the equipped monster gets destroyed in exchange."

"But now it's weaker and we can-"

"Which brings me to the other effect of Infernal Dragon." Blake interrupted. "When it gets send from the field to the graveyard, I can tribute a monster to summon it back. Good job Horn, but that's all for now." The Cyberdark made a ruckus and flayed around like an angry child before it tried to throw itself at Blake, but was caught by the reanimated Infernal Dragon and crushed in its claws.

'What an idiot.' DAD laughed. When the spirit form of Horn appeared next to Blake, he did so as well and leaned on the cybernetic monster as if it was nothing more than a table. 'You heard the boss; you're done for now. Be thankful you even got a chance.' Horn tried to bite him but only got wedgies in return until it became quiet like a docile kitten.

Blake snorted at the sight, and turned back around, only to find everyone's eyes at them. "What?"

"T-that's your duel spirit?" Kami asked. "I mean, I should've guessed given he's your ace but he's …"

"A big oaf?"

'Hey!'

"… a strong personality."

'Hmm … still think I like the tiny one in yellow more than her.'

"Hey!"

The Dark Scorpions were taken aback as well. "Yes, definitely should've asked for more money. This is ridiculous."

"You were outmatched from the start, Zaloog. Can we get this over with now?" Blake taunted.

"… is there a chance we can settle this without … you know?"

"Nuh uh, you came at me. Those are just the consequences of your own actions."

"… well, I'm sorry, my love. Guess we'll go back to the Spirit World for now." Zaloog apologized to his fellow spirit. "My copy attacks one of your Oyster Meister!" One clam-guy took a shot to the head and vanished.

"Cliff, get the other one as well!" The other Oyster Meister was destroyed too, but not before Cliff liberated it off a pearl he threw to his boss.

"Well, at least we got a little something out of this whole mess." Zaloog turned to Kami with a bow. "Alright, missy. If you'd do us the honor."

She huffed at that. "If you'd behaved like that from the start we might've gotten along well, you know." She paused for a moment before she leaned over to Blake. "Is there really no way you can make this not send them back to their world? I know he's been an ass to you, but we could use them. They are professionals after all and given that their spirits, no one would be any wiser."

Blake hummed at that. 'I mean, they could perhaps get us to Kagemaru …' "… there's only one problem: I don't know how." He shook his arm with the Shadow Charm attached. "I can't exactly give it instructions. I can only make it start a Shadow Duel. Not that I think he deserves a second chance."

'I might have a solution for that.' Jinzo boomed, suddenly appearing behind them and making Kami jump in surprise.

"Jinzo too? What the hell even are you, kid?" Zaloog asked in bewilderment.

"Oh? Let's hear it." Blake ignored Zaloogs outcry completely.

'Since your opponent has a Shadow Charm as well, I can try to recalibrate the current effects in play.' Jinzo explained. 'If successful, theirs will take the whole backlash of the duel and thus get destroyed. But at least they won't be painfully torn apart and send back to the Shadow Realm. They will, however, lose their physical forms. So, even if you were to employ their help, they could only do so from a spiritual angle unless you can materialize them somehow.'

"You can do that?" They all echoed the same question.

'I've been working on this thing for three days straight without sleep or coffee. That said, I do require both after this.' Jinzo said in an uncharacteristically tired manner. 'I might learn more from this to find a way to remove yours as well, master.'

Blake nodded at that; this might be worth a try. He then turned back to Zaloog. "Alright, here's the deal: I won't fuck you up, in return you work for us. I'm sure you and Kami can find a lucrative way to work with each other, but for now we need more info on the other Shadow Riders and their leader Kagemaru. Oh, and was that a bluff earlier with you calling me out?"

"It was." Zaloog nodded. "Hoped it'd disturb your teamplay, but I guess even that wouldn't have mattered considering how easily the two of you outperformed us. This sounds preferable to the alternative. We only got to find a way to receive payment we can actually use." Zaloog said while rubbing his chin.

"Don't think about double crossing us." Blake warned with a gleam in his eyes. "You've seen what spirits surround me; you wouldn't want me to let them loose on you, do you?"

Zaloog gulped. "No, no. We're fine working for you as long as we get paid and not thrown into ridiculous battles like this."

"Alright. Jinzo, do your thing." Blake said off-handedly. After he'd seen Zaloog almost shit his pants a few times, he's fine with this arrangement. He'd still punch him, but that'd be the extent of it.

They both met in the middle of the field, where Blake did indeed throw a punch into the mans gut, and Jinzo got to work. Both Blake and Zaloog grunted from the pain their Shadow Charms released into them, but after a few minutes, they were done and Blake felt his arm became just a little lighter, even though a dark voice screamed in his head. They nodded to one another and returned to their positions.

"Alright, princess. Let's finish this."

Kami nodded slowly; no doubt perplexed by everything that'd just happened. She put her hand on her deck and gasped for a moment before she drew. It took her a while to continue, as she looked at the card in wonder. Then, she smirked.

"I activate the effect of my Deepsea King once more! I discard 1 card and summon another Deepsea Macrotrema and two Unshaven Angler! Then, I tribute my Macrotrema and one of my Unshaven Angler!" She smiled down at the card she was about to play and shot Blake a brief side-eyed look. "Released from your glacial prison, battle for the queen of the ocean! White Night Dragon!"

The two fish became water that mixed together and turned into a large glacier. Out of the glacier broke a majestic dragon made of blue ice, its wings spread wide and its tail swished through the air. With a noble roar, the new monster settled down in front of its master, nodding to her before turning towards its adversaries (3000/2500).

Kami marveled at her new monster, and so did Blake. "Because of my Macrotrema, all my Water monsters get empowered again!" This, along with the boost from her Field spell, made the dragon swell up in size (3700/2700) before he shrunk down again because of the still active Burden of the Mighty (2900/2700).

"Time to end this! Infernal Dragon, , take out Cliff the Trap Remover! Deepsea King, attack Don Zaloog! White Night Dragon, direct attack!"

The monsters nodded to one another and carried out their orders. Beam of fire and water followed a breath of icy flames destroyed their opposition, reducing the Dark Scorpions lifepoints to 0.

With the duel over, the Shadow Charms took effect and, just as Jinzo predicted, the one Zaloog was wearing crumbled into nothing. Shortly thereafter, the two Dark Scorpions became incorporeal.

'Well, guess that's that for now. Gotta keep a low profile and get everyone back together.' Zaloog sighed. 'Just send for us once you require our assistance.'

"There's a well not far from here where other spirits dwell. That might be a good hideout until then." Blake said, remembering the Reject Well.

'… just don't send one of these Cyberdarks if you need us, okay?'

"I'll see how I feel when that happens." Blake snorted.

Kami stared off to who knew where while the two spirits left.

Blake was about to ask her what was going on when all of a sudden, the island shook and a bright golden light shot into the sky. They both whirled around in shock. "Ah shit."

And cut. Wonder who they got and what's up with Kami. Put your guesses down and we'll see who's right!

Happy that last chapter got such a good reception, after all the gloomy edginess I thought it'd be just the right thing. Similar to a few things I've added this time around. Now we just gotta wait till Blake and Kami get some more time to talk things out further. With Yuma clearly out of the fray in that regard, who else could stop them now?

Glad to see we got some new readers all caught up and interested in this mess; happy to have you! I do be trying to push down the dark stuff, now that most of the drama surrounding Blake has boiled down. It won't be gone completely, but I'll be working towards a more GX-esque feeling. Thinking of the later seasons though … you know how it might get.

That's it from me! Thank you everyone for your continued support through this mess 3 See you next time!
