A Vibrant Dream
"Sometimes, there are things that you can't explain… you just feel it and somehow, everything just seems to fall into place. For hours, I did nothing but stare at the blue ball as the Sun rose further, exposing more of its hidden beauty within. It wasn't long after when I started to notice more wonderful things coming from that ball. Tuffs of white and- after a bit of squinting my eyes- molds of fresh bright green and brown!"
"After a loooong time, I went back down my crater, laid down, and tried to process in my tiny mind what I had just seen then. I placed my hands on my forehead- which is a gesture I always do when I try to think carefully- but then I suddenly noticed something about my circular hands: they were changing! Changing to a soft aquamarine hue. Then my arms to a bright ocean blue!"
"Wait, Moona you didn't always have the colors you have now?" Sprinkles asks.
"Nope. Before I saw that ball, I was the same shade as the entire Moon. If we played hide-and-seek on the Moon together during that time, it would be very hard to find me!"
"As more time went by, more of myself started to change color, sort of copying the pretty ball. I soon noticed my belly changing first to aquamarine like my hands, then slowly into a rich blue like my arms as it went down. You could imagine I was overjoyed by this! I rubbed my hands on all parts of my body in excitement. In my point of view, the Sun had introduced me to his new friend! And that friend had blessed me with such a beautiful gift…"
"Your greatest gift?" Blue asks eagerly.
"Close, but no. That blue orb is like what Key is to you. I guess the Sun represents my Polka-Dots. Now I just had to find the 'lock' to my key! Of course, I didn't know about all this back then so I wasn't exactly rushing to do so. Right now, I turned my attention back to the moondust. I really wanted to create a huge drawing of the ball so I went to work recreating the little details I saw: the tuffs of white, the many large green patches on it… In the end, I'd say I did a pretty good job drawing it… that is if I wasn't so annoyed about it not having color. I really wanted to make my drawing just as beautiful and full of life but sadly, I didn't have many choices as all I've got are my tiny dust-filled hands and many round moving canvases."
"Following my frustration, I started to wonder and wonder why this ball contained so many colors. Where did these colors even come from? Was it supposed to look like this? And why did the color only pass on to me and not the rest of the Moon? I wondered and wondered and wondered… Even now, I never got a full answer to this. But then suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted… when something caught my attention…"
"An object was floating around the colorful ball!"
"It looked veeeeeery tiny- even tinier than me or each star in the sky- but I still could see it. A little shiny circle… oddly with 4 straight lines sticking out from it to the back."
"I giggled as I saw it slowly go behind the ball, then come back around again. And rinse and repeat. I would've admired the little speck for even longer if I hadn't grown so tired. Remember, I haven't slept for ages! This is when I finally decided to take a good, long, well-earned rest. But before I did so, I moved myself so that the ball was right above me. This way, I could look at it spin as I sleep. Think of it as my little spinning mobile on top of my crib: my personal night light which would help me drift off to dreamland…"
"Speaking of which, this was also when I started to remember my dreams while I was on the Moon. And they all have to do with me wondering about this giant blue ball, the Sun, the stars, and me on this grey land. Sometimes, I dreamed about flying high in space while seeing all my starry and circular friends spinning around me! Other times, I dreamed about flying directly into the ball or the Sun: swallowing all that light and color! But on that particular night, I dreamed that the shiny speck was big enough for me to ride on and I just held on to its 4 legs while admiring the colorful ball as it went around again and again and again."
