Well, actually, I have a stack of notes next to me on my desk for a whole other story about Hank and Kim. However, you know the way it is - sometimes there's this idea and it won't leave you alone until you've written all of it. And my other story - well, I can always write that one later, too.

Looking for memories lost

Chapter 1

It was a gentle caress on her cheek that woke Kim up that morning. She felt someone tenderly stroking her cheek. No, not someone, it was him. Him, her boyfriend.

Slowly she opened her eyes and looked at him. Hank.

"Good morning," she whispered her voice still hoarse from sleep.

"Good morning darling."

Hank leaned down to her and gave her a kiss on the lips.

"I made you some coffee," he said then, handing her one of the cups he had placed on the nightstand earlier.

Kim smiled at him.

Who would have thought, the gruff Hank Voight was bringing her coffee to her bedside. To his bed. Oh well, actually, it was their bed by now. For almost a year, the Hank and Kim had been a couple. Secretly. Nobody knew about their love and that's how it should stay, at least for a while. The two of them did not want anyone to know about them. No one was supposed to know about their secret.

And it should stay that way.

Until they were ready to share their secret with the others. Until they were ready to publicly admit their love. And therefore Kim had not given up her apartment, even though she had been living more or less permanently with Hank for three months now. She didn't want anyone prying if she suddenly had a new address, though. An address that was identical to her sergeant's.

And that was also the reason why she went out for drinks with Adam and Kevin every now and then. Or talked to Hailey about being single. Even if she knew that her boyfriend, the man she loved, was waiting for her at home.

I mean, what else didn't you do to keep up a facade, though?

"No breakfast in bed?" asked Kim.

"I'm afraid we don't have time for that today. Coffee will have to do. We should be at the precinct in half an hour at the latest, but we can stop on the way. For a croissant, if you like," Hank replied before taking a deep sip from his coffee cup.

All too soon the morning, that brief moment, was over and the two of them were in his car. Most of the time they drove to the precinct in separate cars. And when they did ride together in one car, usually Hank's car, Kim would get out a block or two before the precinct and walk the rest of the way.

Hank stopped his car two blocks from the precinct.

Had even one of them realized what this stop meant, what the consequences would be for Kim to walk the last few blocks - Hank would never have let her get out of the car. He would rather have revealed their secret at that moment.

Still, he had no way of knowing what else would happen in the next few hours.

" I'll see you in a minute," she said, leaning over to give Hank a kiss.

"Yeah - in a minute," he whispered, and then their lips met in a kiss.

The kiss was slow, intense, so soulful. Just perfect.

" How about we cook dinner together tonight?" he suggested as their lips parted.

"Sounds good," Kim stroked his cheek again before exiting the car.

There were still two blocks ahead of her. And the sooner she got to the precinct, the sooner she could start work. And maybe get off work on time. Kim loved cooking with Hank in his kitchen. Standing side by side, Hank at the stove and she cutting the vegetables or taking care of dessert - Kim could imagine a lot more moments like that with Hank.

Maybe she should make something with chocolate sauce tonight. Kim couldn't help but think of the last time she'd tasted chocolate sauce. The memory of it, it brought a blush to her face. Who knew chocolate tasted so good when you licked it off your lover's skin.

Kim looked forward to repeating that moment. To such an evening. A wonderful feeling spread inside her. Anticipation.

However there was another feeling inside her. Kim couldn't tell what it was. Somehow, though, it felt like a dark premonition. As if an inner voice was warning her. Warning her about what?
