Tsukune Aono was a pretty average student with sadly poor performance under pressure. He did his best, but his entrance exam scores limited his choices for the future. His father found a flyer dropped by a priest for a strange school called Yokai Academy. The bus stop was in the middle of nowhere. However, after a time the strange transport arrived. The driver had an odd look in his eyes, but the smile seemed genuine. "Well kid, hope your ready for an adventure beyond imagining." Tsukune gave the man a shrug of his shoulders and got on.
After a strange trip thru a rainbow colored tunnel he arrived at the edge of his new schools campus. As he stepped off the driver smiled again and spoke. "Good luck kid, you'll need it." The doors closed so quickly that the human couldn't speak a response. The bus drove away at a ridiculous pace leaving Tsukune alone.
He started following the path until he came to a seriously creepy forest. The way was hard to find, but he managed and continued on. Suddenly, he came across a branch in the road. The new area was so well concealed if he hadn't tripped it would have been impossible to notice. So on impulse he took the road less traveled. He arrived at a small shrine that was severely overgrown. He couldn't leave a sacred place like this. So he spent awhile cleaning it up then left an offering. As he walked away a small red mask with a long nose appeared. However, he didn't see it as he was returning to his schools original path.
Months later…
Inner Moka had defeated many monsters seeking to take her friend Tsukune away for one reason or another. Along the way Kurumu, Yukari and Mizore joined her in being the humans friend. Together they joined the newspaper club. Gin joined them after being revealed as a peeping tom. Everything went well for awhile until the corrupt discipline committee took notice. They had destroyed the last members of that club except for Gin. They thought he had learned his lesson last year to never mess with them again. Well crushing his hope once more would be twice as fun.
Their target was Tsukune Aono under suspicion of the worst crime at the academy, being human. When the first year student was brought to the brink of despair their leader decided to kill him personally. The combined might of his friends made that the only option. Even Moka was taxed by the might of the fox demon. The human made his last stand saving the vampire girl, or so he thought .
As he lay dying clutching Moka's rosary a voice he never heard before spoke within the depths of his mind. "Onii-chan please don't give up. Your not alone I can help you with your permission." As the voice spoke he could hear his female friends fighting their hardest. Inner Moka was trying to save him with her blood, but something within had the power to stop her a S class super monster. What could it be?
"Well Onii-chan do you want the power to save your friends?" The voice sounded warm and caring, but an edge of despair touched it.
Inside his fading consciousness he only had one choice. "Of course I do my friends are always saving me. I must do the same if I can."
The voice gained strength at his words and felt like it smiled. "I'm glad to hear it Onii-chan now I get to see you again." Suddenly the piercing cry of over a hundred birds filled the air. Then Tsukune's body lifted in the air as a tornado of black feathers surrounded it. When the wind stopped a pair of black feathered wings had sprouted from his back. His body had been encircled in samurai armor of purest white. Lastly his face was covered in a red mask with a large nose. A new tengu had possessed his human body with power rivaling an S class super monster. The Tengu had onced trained worthy humans to fight monsters. They hadn't been seen for over a millennium. The monster world had thought themselves safe from them. Seems they were wrong.
The new fusion of man and creature looked at their opponent. "A fox demon quite a tough opponent. Unfortunately for you beast, I know exactly how to deal with your kind."
The head of the discipline committee laughed evilly. "You have got to be kidding me birdman, my kind were once worshiped as gods. Time to finish killing you Tsukune Aono, I don't even care that your not human anymore." With that the fox launched a devastating wall of fire at Tsukune and his friends. A wall of wind rose at his command completely stopping the fire.
Then the demon laughed again. "Wow, I had no idea you would push me to my max power of all people." Then the fox transformed again into a melding of man and beast. "Now die boy."
While his enemy transformed Tsukune made his own power play. He put his hand to his chest and pulled a katana from his heart. He quietly whispered a few words. "For Onii-chan, sword of the Tengu." The transformed human held the weapon in the traditional two-handed style. Then the air behind him grew thick and his wings spread wide. He then flew faster than otherwise possible using the wind itself.
As the enemy ended his words they became a gurgling cry as he dropped to the ground and reverted to human shape unconscious. "Your lucky Onii-chan is merciful since you live by his mercy alone. This Tengu blade is forged from our combined soul. So simply put it can kill or let you live by our choice." The victor sheathed his sword back in his chest then dropped to a knee. The spirit said a few words in his mind for Tsukune. "Sorry big brother this first possession was too much for us both, rest well." In moments he was human again. He whispered a few words as he passed out. "Thank goodness their all okay." As his friends rushed to his side they noticed an item loosely sitting on his back. It was a strange red mask with a long nose. Inner Moka held back a growl as she saw it. The monsters greatest enemy in history was back. So why had it defended them all?
