Tsukune felt odd as he looked on the past within his unconscious mind. He was a child playing in the mountains. His parents had taken him on his first camping trip. He had wandered a bit from the campsite and got lost. He was on the verge of tears when he heard a small voice crying for help. It was then he did what he often had putting himself aside to help someone in trouble. He followed the sound and came across a cage dangling from a tree. It was empty so he looked at it confused.

Then the voice spoke again. "Sorry, I forgot I was invisible." The human child was surprised when a birdman appeared inside the cage.

"Wow that was amazing!" The little boy clapped at the display, laughing with joy.

The small black feathered person attempted to bow, but failed due to the cage he was in. "Please human, let me out of this." The small creature clutched the bars as he waited looking sad.

"Right sorry about that I'll get you down right away." Tsukune looked around and saw a rope tied on the top of the cage. His eyes followed it to a stake in the ground. Young Aono lifted with all the strength in his arms and fell on the ground as it pulled free. He fought tears again as a loud crash echoed in the woods. Amazingly, the cage broke open and its' prisoner was free.

The small person flew right at the human and hugged him tight. The bird man only reached the boys chest standing at his full height on the ground. "Oh thank you thank you human. Your pretty tall, what's your name?" The shorter being released his grip and waited for the child's answer.

The young man proudly put a hand over his heart and introduced himself. "I'm Tsukune Aono nice to meetcha. What's your name?"

"I don't have one we tengu know each other on sight. So names are given to us by humans if at all." The young spirit smiled after his words, but was cut off from saying more as the child spoke excitedly.

"Really can I name you please?" The Tengu nodded his consent and the boy continued. "How about I call you Kyuu? Also can you call me Onii-chan, I've always wanted a younger sibling?"

"Of course you're my savior after all, Onii-chan." Tsukune hopped in place clapping his hands at the answer. Before more could be said though The Elder Aono's found their son after searching for awhile. His parents rushed over and scooped him up into a loving embrace.

When they finally stopped the kid looked around for Kyuu and didn't see him. He guessed he had turned invisible again. So he whispered a few words for him. "See you later Kyuu, let's play soon." His parents asked who he was talking too. He said a new friend he made that looked like a bird man. The adults laughed together and his mother told him he could play later with Kyuu. They left unsaid that they both believed the bird man was imaginary.

Tskune and Kyuu played for many hours after that. When the camping trip was over they parted as lifelong friends. However, as the human grew up his parents taught him to leave his pretend friends behind. Eventually, he forgot about the Tengu he played with one summer. Kyuu never forgot and was happy to see him when he started at Yokai academy many years later.

As the memory came to a close the human was sad. "I'm sorry Kyuu can you forgive me for forgetting you?"

Then the tengu appeared before him and spoke with a caring tone. "Silly Onii-chan, forgiviness isn't needed. Children forget as they grow that is a fact of life." Kyuu hugged his old friend with joy and continued after letting go. "My race had been in hiding for a thousand years. My time with you was meant to be short, I was just a scout. You gave my people hope for a better future with your kind heart. Now I have permission to help you anyway I can from the three dark lords and the boss."

Tsukune looked at his old friend with happiness and spoke. "Really I'm glad, though who are the three dark lords?"

"Oh you didn't know they made the barrier that protects your school. Our boss showed them how when they gave us a shrine. They only visit our sacred place once a year so it often gets overgrown in that time." Kyuu smiled and kept speaking. "Your respect without even knowing it was our shrine is why the boss let me help you. I'm so glad I can be here for you now as a little brother should."

" Great, so can you help me any other way than possession?" Tsukune asked politely.

"Of course Onii-chan. As long as you have my tengu mask you have access to my lesser powers. You can turn invisible at will and summon a small breeze. As a Crow Tengu I only count as a C class monster in terms of power. However, when I posses you we become a Dai-Tengu which is considered super S class in abilities. Our power is only topped by the boss and his direct subordinates among my people." Kyuu's words sounded like a teacher to Tsukune.

Meanwhile in the realm outside Aono's mind…..

The girls were arguing over who had the right to carry their love to his room. All of them except inner Moka anyway. She had to know something and her friends were'nt helping. So she sunk her fangs into the one that touched her heart the most even if she didn't say it out loud. This caused the argument to stop suddenly.

"Moka stop, can't you see he's already weak from transforming!" Kurumu shouted loudly at her.

"Back off Kurumu, I needed to confirm something!" The succubus cringed at her harsh tone. Moka had always loved the human's blood, but now it had gone from amazing to divine nectar. It took more than anyone would ever know to stop. She knew now Tsukune was still human. He had just become a conduit for something far more powerful. She was pleased to know he was stronger now.

Mizore had tired of the debate herself and acted right after Moka had stopped drinking. A sheet of ice appeared beneath her lover. It was at an angle specifically designed to slide him into her arms. She was disappointed as moments before she embraced him he was gone.

"Clearly you girls need a reminder that arguing doesn't help the kid at all." Gin had used his speed to snatch his junior out of the girls' hands. "Talk all you want I'm taking him to his room. I don't trust our school nurse, later babes." The werewolf was gone before they could blink. Damn this kid was lucky. Sure he was jealous, but his young friend needed rest that was most important.

The ladies collectively realized their foolishness thanks to Gin. Moka picked up her rosary and clicked it on before anyone could annoy her more. Together the five school beauties headed to Tsukune's room discussing shifts for watching him until he was awake. Each one wanted to be the first person he saw when he woke up.
