Naruto was just coming back from his latest training session. Today he had almost managed to master Futon: Air Bullets and had managed to get Suiton:Water Gunshot right on track.
Up until now, he had learnt Gale Palm, Great Breakthrough, and Wind Shuriken for his Futon arsenal, while for Suiton he had learnt Water Stream and Wild Water Wave.
It was pretty good progress for one week.
But today was going to be maybe the most important of them all, as today he was going to start adapting to using Kurama's chakra.
They weren't really concerned about Naruto's well being, as not only had he controlled thr chakra once before, but Kurama wanted Naruto to properly learn utilize his powers instead of just getting a chakra boost.
Naruto arrived at his apartment at his usual time. He had arrived around seven in the evening, after finishing about eight ramen bowls at Ichiraku's.
"So, you ready Naruto? "
"Yes Kurama."
The blonde then locked his front door and shut down his windows and pulled up the curtains. He then dragged his kitchen table and put it tilted upright in the right corner of the room.
He then sat down in the middle of his kitchen floor in a meditating position, his eyes shut tightly.
Right then, a layer of reddish chakra began coming out of his body, taking the shape of a fox body engulfing Naruto. Initiatially, the chakra cloak had one tail, then after a few minutes, two, and again after several more minutes, three.
"NARUTO!"
The screams of the Third Hokage filled the room as he burst through the door alongside two more ANBU.
Minutes prior...
Tenzo was currently in his house. It wasn't big or anything, but it had anything one would need to survive, a kitchen, washroom, a bed and all the daily supplies.
He was currently sitting on his workdesk going over some of his paperwork when his right hand heated up.
Tenzo then brought his hand near to see the one thing he had not been looking forward to seeing anytime soon, the Kanji of Ichi or One had appeared on his hand, causing him to put on his gear in literal seconds and rush out to the boys house, creating an additional clone to inform the Hokage.
Hiruzen was as usual in his office going over some paper work. He hadn't had any visitors since Sparrow had last reported that evening. In the past week, Naruto had managed to learn several Futon and Suiton jutsu by himself, and even if he was quite proud of him, he still wondered where the boy had gotten access to such jutsu or why had he suddenly decided to start such rigorous training regimen all of a sudden. Hiruzen wanted to ask Naruto about this already, but didn't want to take any brash move all of a sudden.
Right on the cue, Sparrow appeared in the Hokage's office.
"Hokage sama, the detection seal has picked up signs of Kyubi chakra in Naruto Uzumaki's house, i am just a clone to inform you, prime is currently rushing to the scene."
The wooden clone then wilted away as Hiruzen immediately took off his hokage robes to reveal his black armour as he rushed to Naruto's house.
He hoped it hadn't been too late to save the boy.
Yugao was currently outside of Naruto's house, looking at it from a tree top, hidden from anyone below the tree's height.
Her job had been simple enough, the boy didn't really go anywhere in the night, except for sometimes practicing on the roof a few times.
Although today it had been a bit different, the boy had for some reason completely closed off his house from the inside, and drawn curtains over all windows present. It wasn't that suspicious asto wareant direct intervention, but still, she felt uneasy for some reason.
"Yugao!"
Tenzo suddenly appeared near her, breathing heavily.
" Sparrow? Your shi-"
"There is no time for this, Kyubi chakra has appeared in the apartment!"
Yugao was in complet shock.
"Whatt!? Lets go down there immediately then, you should be able to control the Kyubi chakra, right?"
"I can, but it seems like three tails worth chakra has appeared already."
Tenzo then pulled up his right hand to shoe Yugao that the kanji for San or three had appeared.
"Three tails you say? "
Right then, Hiruzen appeared on a nearby roof.
"Hokage sama!"
"No time for formalaties, get down there before thr chakra goes out of hand and the Kyubi takes over the boy!"
"Hai!"
The three shinobi the jumped down near Naruto's apartment and quickly rushed up yo hus doorstep where Hiruzen immediately kicked it hard as to open it.
"NARUTO!"
Present...
Hiruzen, Yugao and Tenzo entered Naruto's apartment only to see something they had not quite expected to see.
Instead of a boy desperately trying to keep his mind under control form Kyubi's influence, they saw him meditating, with a layer of red chakra covering his body, three tails appearing on his behind.
Inside Naruto's mindscape, Kurama had already realized the arrival of the three shinobi, as Naruto was still in deep meditation.
"Kid, it seems like we have company, open your eyes."
"Company? "
Naruto was a bit confused as to what was going on but all his doubts were replaced by panic as he saw old man Hiruzen , and two other masked ANBU, all in battle gear, with Hiruzen breathing especially heavily.
"Uhhhh..."
The boy didn't know what to say.
The hokage and the ANBU just looked as the red chakra dissapitated all around and Naruto looked fine as always.
The hokage was the one to break the silence, and throwing all regard out of the way, he said,
"What the hell (AN :- gotta keep it kid friendly) is going on here?"
The Hokage and Naruto were now back at the office. An uneasy silence lingered on between them. The boy had insisted to Hiruzen that he was not under the Kyubi's influence and to just hear him out for once. After much reluctance, the Hokage had believed in the boy, and bought him to Hokage tower for privacy.
Although Tenzo was still outside the door just in case.
Hiruzen decided to break the silence.
"So, would you now care to explain what's going on Naruto, what was that chakra you were using? And what has gone into you the past few days?"
Naruto knew what Hiruzen was talking about, back in the apartment he had sensed Cpt. Yamato's chakra signature on one of the ANBU. He put two and two together and realized that somehow, the
Hokage had sensed a difference in his demeanor, and appointed Yamato, and that other ANBU to tail him. It would mean that they oversaw all of his training, and reported it back to the Hokage.
"Well, old man, where should I start?"
"From the basics I persume, what caused your sudden change in thinking and action?"
"Kurama, should I tell the truth? "
The biju replied in a serious tone, "I think that's the right choice, lying to him after all this will cause him to lose trust in you, and the Hokage is one of the few you can trust with the secret at this point."
"Alright"
"Okay old man, I will tell you the truth, but promise me that this information will not get out, and you will trust me."
Hiruzen saw a different kind of look in Naruto's eyes then, it was one of sincerity, and vigour."
He then said, " Naruto, as long as your secret doesn't cause any direct threat to this village, it will stay secure with me."
Naruto sighed in relief.
"Okay, so hear me out, I am from a different timeline... "
Several hours later...
For the past several hours, Naruto had recounted the events of his original timeline to the Hokage.
When Hiruzen heard that Naruto gad a secret, being sent in the past by Sage of Six paths himself wasn't what he had in mind. If it was anyone else, Hiruzen wouldn't even had have heard them the past few minutes, but what seemed to confirm Naruto's honesty, were the fact he knew some of the village's most precious S-ranked secrets. Most importantly, the truth behind Naruto's parentage and the reality of the Uchiha massacre.
Either his village's S ranked secrets were easy to uncover, or Naruto was speaking the truth.
He placed his trust on the latter outcome.
"So Naruto, if you are telling the truth, it means whatever you said is what will happen in the future correct? "
"Indeed jiji."
That meant not only Mizuki was a double agent for Orochimaru, that student of his was going to assault his former village.
"Jiji"
Hiruzen looked up to the boy.
"I know it's a lot to take in all at once, but we mustn't make any mistakes. "
Hiruzen's ears perked up.
" go on"
Naruto continued.
" As I said, we cannot make any mistake and overreact, we must not tamper with the flow of time to make it completely unrecognizable, making my knowledge of what is to happen useless."
Hiruzen realized Naruto's point. He was just thinking about sending a detachment to finish Orochimaru now, but as he said, the timeline cannot be tampered so much as to it collapses entirely
"Okay Naruto, I will follow your path for know, but I must express how sorry I am for not telling you about your parents whenever you aske-"
Naruto just waved him off.
"Don't worry jiji, I know it had to be done, of you declared my parentage my father's enemies would've been a threat to me, and I don't think kid me would stop yapping about being son of the fourth."
Hiruzen was relieved, but still felt guilty.
"Still Naruto, to not only make it up to you, and also help you I your mission... "
The Hokage then took out an empty scroll from a drawer, and then proceeded to take his writing brush and started scribbling away at the scroll.
"I want you to have this."
Hiruzen gave Naruto the scroll. Reading the scrolls contents, Naruto had a smile appear on his face.
It was a permission to access areas like the archives, the Hokage towards private training grounds, it's library etc., signed by Hiruzen himself.
"Oh wow, thanks a lot jiji! "
Hiruzen just smiled.
"Don't worry, it's the least I can do for the sake of this undertaking."
Hiruzen then took a bit of a serious expression.
"I would still like to talk with the Kyubi, or as you said his name was, Kurama."
Naruto then replied, "Why though jiji?"
"I feel like I should atleast personally thank him for the guidance he has given to you, and to just come to peace with him, as it would quell any fears I have regarding his stance."
"Naruto let me take over."
"Your call Kurama."
Right then, Naruto's blue eyes turned blood red, and the pupils became elongated, like a fox's. His whiskers became more pronounced, and his teeth became like a canine's.
"Hello, Hokage-sama."
Hiruzen was somewhat scared, even though Naruto trusted him, talking to the strongest biju wasn't as easy as talking to your average guy.
But still, he regained his composure.
"Kyubi it's an honour to formally meet you on friendly terms."
"Likewise Hokage, but i would prefer you refer to me as Kurama rather than as the Kyubi"
"Fine, Kurama it is."
"That's better. Now getting the niceties out of the way, I would like to make it clear that you have nothing to fear about me attacking Konoha, the only reason I did it fourteen years ago, was due to that damn Uchiha controlling me, your people , and by extension all other non akatsuki shinobi are as long as they don't hurt Naruto."
"That's reassuring to hear Kurama, I hope we can reach a mutual trust like you have with Naruto someday."
Hiruzen then offered a handshake.
"Heh, maybe, but not like the one I have with the brat, but I accept your hand in peace too, Hokage."
The two then shook hands, as Naruto regained control of his body.
"So how was it jiji?"
"Interesting to say the least."
Naruto deadpanned.
"You just met the strongest biju in existence and all you have to say is, 'it was interesting'? "
Hiruzen sweatdropped.
"Anyways, jiji, I must get back to my house, I gotta finish my training fir today and go to sleep to wake up to train in my new training ground tomorrow."
Hiruzen looked at the clock, it was almost half past ten, pretty late given when they had started.
"Okay Naruto, I hope to meet you tomorrow morning."
"Like wise jiji."
The blonde then got up and walked out the door, grinning at the pair of ANBU still outside the door.
"Sparrow, Falcon, come inside!"
Hiruzen ordered the two ANBU standing outside to come inside, closing the door behind them.
"Now, whatever you saw today at the boy's apartment, you are not to mention to anybody else, without my permission, is that clear?"
Although uneasy about the Kyubi situation, the two still didn't question the Hokage's orders.
"Hai, Hokage sama! "
"Good, but if you are uneasy about the Kyubi, don't worry, " Hiruzen then lighted up his smoking pipe as a smile appeared on his face "the boy has it under control."
Or more like the boy is friends with the great beast.
"So, there is no fear of the Kyubi breaking free?" Sparrow asked.
"Not one bit." Hiruzen replied.
"You two have had a long night, go home now, the mission assigned to you is on standby for now."
"Hai."
As per routine, the two ANBU dissappeared in a sunshin.
Hiruzen then sat reclining on his seat. He had the thoughts regarding the future to come. He remembered what Naruto had said about changing the flow of time, but what he would be doing wasn't something which could seriously mess up the timeline, atleast the basis of it.
He had to bring Danzo to justice.
AN- Thoughts? btw, I think this is the most clumpsy chapter I have written so far, not really what I was hoping it would be, hopefully the next will leave me satisfied. I am also thinking of adding more for the characters who didn't get anything really, not even in fillers. I have somethings planned not only for the Waves Arc, but the Chunin Exams as well.
