A shout out to Hitsuzen278 for letting me use some of his fanfics
hunter41963801: Well, I had planned to include some parts of that trilogy.
"Could anyone recognize any of them, or at least the teenagers at the end?" Wanda asked, and anyone could notice the concern in her voice, worried that someone would try to do to teenagers, what they did to her and her brother, that other young people would make the same mistake.
"No," was the almost unanimous answer, but not everyone gave it out loud
"Just identify Dr. Charles Xavier, a retired geneticist" Vision said
"Who was that?" asked Steve
"The man who was over 50 years old, with the silver helmet surrounded by silhouettes of people who seemed to be made of reddish light, Captain Rogers."
"We'll have to look into it as soon as we get back," Natasha said "or let's get out of here"
"I agree," Tony said
"Don't rush, from what we saw, several of those individuals were trying to help and as far as the fights we saw, we don't know what was happening" Rogers said
"Still, we need to make sure that" whatever Hill was going to say, it was interrupted when the screen came on again, attracting everyone's attention
"Here we go again," Clint said dryly
NEW YORK, 2012
He didn't know how this fateful thing had happened. A totally unfair fate that reveled in making Machiavellian tricks for the simple pleasure of seeing them suffer in misery. An unexpected event that undermined everything they had planned so meticulously for days and days to their heart's content.
"Well, it's another world, Lang wasn't with you," Falcon said as he recognized Ant-man on the screen with the counterpart of Steve, Iron and the Hulk
Scott was surprised that his counterpart knew the Avengers before he did
"There's something weird here," Clint said upon seeing the Hulk's appearance, which was also noticed by the others
And it was because of all this, that Tony Stark longed for a real heart attack and not the one premeditatedly caused by Scott Lang.
"You did what?!" a surprised Tony complained to Lang at what he heard in the narration
"It's another world," Scott defended himself, surprised, embarrassed, and worried about what his counterpart did
"Can someone explain to me what happened?" asked a confused Bruce Banner, who carried the Time Stone with him in a briefcase.
"Bruce... control the Hulk," said a surprised Wanda
"That would have been very helpful before," Stark muttered under his breath, remembering the fight he got into with the Hulk, but he wasn't the only one who thought that
"There was a complication," Ant-Man muttered, looking down at the floor.
"That's what I've realized. Be more specific!" Staring at him for the obvious, the Hulk cried out at the end.
"The other big guy, the one from this time, was angry about not being able to use the elevator," rubbing his eyes, Iron Man detailed succinctly.
"What are they talking about?" asked Peter, confused the others, but they were also lost like him
"...What? Cap, is that true?" Incredulous, and disbelieving that his counterpart would do such a thing, the gamma-ray-drenched scientist questioned.
"Unfortunately. His outburst created chaos and allowed Loki to take over the Tesseract before disappearing" Sighing wearily, the super soldier stated.
"Wait a minute... those versions traveled to another reality," said Tony, not entirely sure
"That or... they traveled back in time," Lang added another theory, earning stares from the rest "What?"
"Are you kidding?" said Hill, finding it hard to believe that time travel is possible, and she wasn't the only one. On the other hand, others, like Peter, were excited at the possibility.
Despite the fact that the city remained in total disarray thanks to the previous battle against the Chitauri army, silence invaded the quartet of temporary travelers.
"Time travel... fantastic" Fury said between grunts, already imagining the problems that could arise from traveling in time, depending on who is traveling in time.
The others were either trying to digest the confirmation or were staring curiously and more attentively at the screen
Although they had a fairly good result, since two of the three wanted gems were in possession, the remaining one was held by the same individual who was in charge of leaving New York as it was today.
"Gems," Steve blurted out, before he and Tony shared a look. "Are they…?"
"The ones Thor mentioned?, maybe"
"Next time we see him, we need to ask him more."
"What are they talking about?" Wanda asked them
"Before Thor left, he said that the gem that Vision has was one of the Infinity Stones, he didn't explain what they were, only that it was the fourth to appear in the last few years and that someone was preparing," Steve replied
"He said who?" asked Fury, as the rest watched as the vision brought one of his hands to the gem on his forehead
"No, Beach Boy went to investigate."
"You know they're going to kill us if we come back with this news, don't they?" said the man capable of changing his height.
"It's not like we have many more options to travel either. We only have two particles left," the green giant added, still touching the solar plexus after being astrally separated from his body by The Ancient One.
There was confusion at the narrative about being astral separated, as well as to whom it referred with The Ancient One
A dispute ensued over what to do. However, only one person remained silent and stared blankly, absorbed in an internal debate where he reviewed all the moments of the last five years. Happiness and anguish amalgamated in a single person that he unexpectedly involved in his life, to gradually gain a place in his heart with Pepper and Morgan. That same person who influenced enough to mature, as well as the main reason why he agreed to help with the plan that Lang provided in a fanciful hypothesis.
"What would the child do in my place?" Tony Stark asked, more to himself than to the rest.
"Do you mean the boy?" Rhodey asked Tony about what he heard in the narration, while the screen showed Stark's counterpart very thoughtful.
"It's another world, and apparently they traveled back in time, which is possible since my other self looks a little older and this is giving me a migraine" Tony replied to Rhodey without seeing that others also stared at him at what he heard in the narration
"Did you say anything, Tony?" Thinking she had heard him, Captain America inquired.
Despite this question, the inventor totally ignored the world that surrounded him, deciding to meticulously think of an answer according to the doubt posed in his soliloquy. An interpellation that called into question all the knowledge of "pop" culture that he had to learn if he want to keep up with the crazy chatter of the absent friendly neighbor from Queens.
"Are you from Queens?" asked Steve to Peter
"Yes, sir," I say, captain.
"Steve's fine."
"Yes sir, I mean captain"
Given how nervous the teenager became, the others once again thought that he was not someone Tony should bring to a fight between them, so some again looked at Stark.
"Tony..." Hulk tried to get the attention of the aforementioned man, but was interrupted.
"SHHH...!" Waving his right hand, Iron Man silenced his friend as he stared at a certain store a street away.
"Did he just shut me up?" Unable to believe it, the man Ross swore to pursue until the end of his days, tried to find out.
Stark said nothing about it, opting to simply wave his hand again in a gesture so that they would stay where they were, that they would not even think about moving from the place. With this being complied with, Virginia Potts' husband hurriedly ran to the buildings he had previously spotted, dodging debris and scattered alien corpses, leaving the remaining trio stunned in the process.
"You're finally married," Steve said to a surprised Tony
"It was time," Rhodey added
With both of them watching a shocked Tony, before they, along with the others, were shocked to see the place Stark's counterpart entered.
"Is he walking into a costume store?" almost open-mouthed, Scott Lang asked audibly.
"Tell me it's a joke..." Steve muttered, lowering his shoulders in disappointment.
Still, Iron Man walked out of the store as quickly as he had to enter, except now he was carrying a peculiar bag with him, clinging to the bag as if their lives depended on what was inside.
"Tony...?" Bruce tried to speak again.
And once again he was rudely silenced.
"SHHH...! There is no time to lose. Ticking! Give me the remaining particles, I'll take care of getting the Space Stone. Return to the complex" Stark commanded imperatively, instantly getting the pair of Pym particles as he prepared his quantum suit.
"What the hell do you have in mind Stark?" asked Fury, and everyone could hear the disbelief in his voice, they didn't blame him, they were the same
"I wish I knew," said the aforementioned man, not understanding what his other self came up with, or why he would need to rob a costume store, before going over the words of the narrative in his mind and turning to look at Peter Parker, understanding that the boy's counterpart had influenced his own and he also cared about the boy.
Before anyone could stop him and question him about it, the billionaire philanthropist disappeared without saying goodbye, leaving the trio open-mouthed and nervously exchanging glances.
"How do we explain this to Pepper?" the green giant wanted to know the man who fought in World War II.
"Le... Let's just hope he comes back safely. If the opposite is true... I don't even want to think about it," said Captain America, massaging her eyes from the enormous fatigue she was carrying.
Steve was pinching the bridge of his nose and feeling sorry for his counterpart for having to tell Pepper's, especially since she would be the one who was married to Tony's counterpart
"Doesn't anyone wonder why he went to a costume shop in the first place!?" – Hope Van Dyne's boyfriend exclaimed as he watched his colleagues prepare to return to the present they knew.
"I'm sure you're wondering," Wanda said, and no one denied it.
2023 YEAR FOR NEW YORK, MEXICO CITY
"Well, if it's time travel, how did they do it?" Shuri said as she thought about it, and the screen changed to show a wounded Tony on a stretcher along with Peter's counterpart who looked 2 or 3 years older.
A look of guilt was reflected at times in the young face of a chestnut man who held in his lap a little girl who was calmly talking with a man with a bandaged arm and face, who was resting on a hospital stretcher.
"You stop looking so bitter, kid. You cloud my day," said the adult, only to receive a slight blow on the leg from a woman with reddish-blond hair.
"Don't harass him, Tony. And you don't listen to him, Peter," said the woman before placing a tray of what appeared to be hamburgers on a nearby table.
"No! No... Mr. Stark—" waving his hands in a negative sense, Peter tried to excuse himself, only to be interrupted.
"Call me Tony," he said with apocryphal annoyance.
"You must be more confident in yourself, spider boy," Shuri said to Peter
"It's Spider-man," the Parker clarified scratching his head
The rest were more attentive and curious to the girl who was with the trio in the infirmary room, having an idea or suspicion of who she was, so some looked at Tony in surprise or with a smile. While Stark stared at the screen in total surprise.
Which earned him a slap in the face this time, which he celebrated with his mother seconds later.
"Of course, physically abuse my poor, convalescing person. Is this the price to pay for saving everyone?" dramatized the man in recovery.
"Mo-mo-mother" An incredulous Tony had difficulty saying the narrated word.
"Then that's Morgan."
"Congratulations Tony," both Steve and Rhodey said
"Well... Thor had a resounding physical change when he snapped. But he wasn't left with an unusable arm like Dr. Banner, either," Parker said, putting a hand to his chin for more focus.
Again, viewers were wondering what the hell they were talking about
"Not to mention that your own injuries were caused by standing in front of me to protect me from one of the beams that Thanos' ship launched. Something I'll be forever grateful for," Pepper complemented with a sardonic grin that later mutated into one of genuine affection.
"What?! Tony exclaimed, wanting to know who Thanos was, or his people who dared to attack Pepper
"It's a good thing you cleared it up. Otherwise I would have regretted traveling back to the seventies..." with a pretend childish pout that his daughter mimicked between bites at her food, Iron Man alleged.
Rhodey was patting his friend on the shoulder, who seeing himself as a father was too much for him
This last comment caught the attention of the teenager who was struggling with his craving to devour the hamburger, consequently looking up at the adult he saw as a mentor. Even after listening to talks from the other heroes who survived the Mad Titan's snap, they were unaware of what the billionaire had done in the past to return to the Space Stone.
"Mr-Mr... Tony," Spidey began to speak, stopping in time when he was glared at him to correct himself.
"Yes?" replied the man alluded to.
"Can You tell us what happened?" Peter wanted to ask, but an answer came to him.
"No," Stark replied with a resounding refusal.
"All right, now I want to know," Clint remarked, to the other Tony's reaction, along with his body language.
"You're not the only one," Natasha told him
"Why do I feel like I didn't like it?"Tony thought, getting over his surprise a little
"But-" the young man tried to continue.
"I said no. And that's my last word," the adult settled the discussion.
Immediately, Spider-Man's gaze changed, almost as if he was ready to accept a challenge. This caused a bit of dread in the adult, as it was not the first time it had happened, being able to clearly remember situations such as the fight with Toomes or his infiltration of the ship that kidnapped Dr. Strange.
"Toomes?, Strange?" Steve repeated the narrated surnames
"Fight, kidnapping?" Peter said, worried about what his counterpart was involved in.
Hill, for his part, wrote down the names for further investigation
"You know he'll disobey you, don't you?" amused, Pepper asked her husband.
"That's not true!" claimed offended, Peter.
"Yes it is..." In unison, Tony and Morgan answered.
"Oh! Now you'll see. If they think so much of me like that, maybe I should find out what happened on my own! - exclaimed the teenager, lifting the girl on his lap in order to give her to her respective mother.
"You gave him the excuse" Rhodey said to the actions of Tony's counterpart and Tony's daughter, seeing that his friend still hadn't completely gotten over the surprise that he was going to have a daughter... or that another version of him would have one.
Fury, for his part, was remembering how curious the boy's father's life was sometimes... and remembering some things that happened to him at that time, so he thought, "I hope you haven't inherited your father's luck."
The boy then proceeded to leave the room with his usual gentle smile. The same one he used to escape from situations that were not beneficial to him.
"He won't... Tell me he won't, Pepper." Hastily turning his head in the direction of his wife, Stark asked.
"Is this me or is this called Karma?" said Clint with a smile
"You dream Legolas," Tony said, but inwardly worried about how his counterpart reacted
"I'll just tell you that the others were deciding who will return the gems, Tony," Rescue mercilessly claimed as he slid the phalanges through his little daughter's straight dark hair.
Piercing glances were cast in the large room that guarded the reconstructed quantum tunnel, where several heroes, whether male or female, were engaged in a silent dispute due to the interruption of a young man with spider powers who wore one of the suits necessary to make the space-time journey.
"Who are they?" asked Wanda to the strangers who appeared
"Is that a raccoon?" said Lang as he pointed to the creature, which was standing on two legs
"Spider, no!" ended up breaking the silence with a shout, Wanda Maximoff.
"Spider, yes!" Peter replied, placing several Pym particles in a special compartment at the waist.
"Why do you need Hank's particles?" Scott wondered aloud, his others also unaware of the reason.
"Give us a good reason to allow it, kid," said War Machine, as he thought Captain America would be in charge of returning the gems.
"Everyone who wants to know what Mr. Stark did in the past, raise your hand," Spidey announced, without needing to put on his trademark mask of white glasses.
Inevitably, one by one of those present began to raise their hands. To everyone's astonishment, Steve, Scott, and Bruce were the first to show the most curiosity, so they instinctively and without much premeditation, agreed to leave the task of returning the gems to Peter. Not very responsible, but they knew that difficult decisions required great sacrifices.
"Really, Steve/Cap/Rogers?" exclaimed most of them incredulously, not expecting that, from Captain America
"It's another world," Rogers tried to use the same defense that Lang used before
"Or the future," Wanda and Clint said
Satisfied with the approval of the rest, Peter Parker climbed onto the platform with a briefcase and a hammer, which left everyone wide-eyed for such a feat, including a very thin Thor who continued to recover from the snap.
Seeing a too-thin Thor was also a surprise to everyone, at least until they saw Spider-Man's counterpart raise the Asgardian's hammer
"Oh come on, really?" complained Clint as much as a war machine
"What, what's wrong?" asked Peter, being surprised by the reaction of the Avengers and Hill, while Shuri, his brother, and Lang were just as confused
"We'll explain it later, Queens," Steve said
"What?" asked the chestnut when he noticed so many looks on him.
"I'm confused... should I bow down to him, or what the hell?" expressing such a vocalized feeling with his facial gestures, Sam Wilson turned in Valkyrie's direction to get him out of the doubt.
"I wouldn't be too sure with my answer, but at least I know that Asgard has two candidates for monarch in case Thor suffers from something," the warrior replied while she couldn't help but remember how Peter had fought in the Battle of Infinity.
"Someone else picked him up!" exclaimed a surprised Barton.
"Vision doesn't count," thought Tony, thinking they were referring to the android, before noticing something. "Wait, where is Nat and Vis?"
"A heart attack?" A small bipedal raccoon asked her question sarcastically.
"Just..."
"I think so"
"How...?"
"I have no idea"
"I don't know."
To prevent their minds from exploding at the existence of a talking animal, they all decided to let it pass for the time being
"Remember that he doesn't have cheddar cheese anymore instead of blood," Hawkeye said, joining the conversation while still getting over the surprise that the situation provided.
"Right..." that blonde who was contacted by Nick Fury before he disappeared five years ago, spoke.
"Who is she, Nick?" asked Tony
"An old acquaintance" replied Fury, who had been surprised to recognize her, and was wondering what had happened to get her other self to call her
Watching without understanding what they were talking about, Peter ended up shrugging his shoulders as he mentally reviewed the destinations he was going to visit, although unfortunately not for tourist purposes, but for work.
"Beam me up, Scotty!" The teenager exclaimed to Lang, who quickly let go of his hug from Hope Van Dyne and ran to the control panel.
"As you order, Captain!" Ant-Man replied, pressing the required button to then watch Spider-Man shrink and disappear into the flow of the quantum realm.
"I understood the reference"
"Cap," several said in dry or amused voices at what Rogers inadvertently blurted out
However, such animosity in the former thief did not last, as his partner and the rest watched him silently at the same time that they moved their mouths with the intention of making some sound.
"What? It's a classic! Scott immediately defended himself.
"I doubt that's why they see you like that," Falcon told Ant-man
"Get away from the controls right now, Lang," Nebula commanded imperatively, something that was endorsed by the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy who were also in the complex.
"Guardians of the Galaxy?" some repeated the peculiar name heard in the narration that the place provided at times, having only more and more questions
Reluctantly, as if he were an infant, the heir to Hank Pym's mantle left the commands to return to Hope's side, thus allowing the Hulk to regain control.
"Well, I think Spider-Man should come back in... Five, four, three, two, one... now!" Seeing the timer on the panel, Bruce notified everyone, holding a lever that he would pull at just the right moment.
They stared at the machine, wondering who designed it, whether Stark or Banner found a way to travel back in time, or had help.
A fact that happened, generating a disturbance on the platform and revealing seconds later the figure dressed in red and white that hid Peter Parker's face under a retractable helmet.
"Child...?" Bucky Barnes issued such words with hesitation before being caught off guard with the Queens native's reappearance.
"Oh, God, that was incredible!" the person in question said audibly as he descended from the platform with a load that he had not previously carried.
A burden that no one ever expected to see again.
"That's Natasha, but how...?" Stunned by the figure resting in the arms of the vigilant arachnid, Steve Rogers muttered.
"What happened to Nat?" asked Clint, worried about her friend, whom she saw as part of her family and her own children saw her as their aunt
He wasn't the only one who asked
"There were dead aliens everywhere, a bald witch on a roof, a faceless guy on a desolate planet, and even my school bus driver greeted me in the past!" – leaving the unconscious body of a redhead on the floor, May Parker's nephew began to move his arms from side to side to show how euphoric he was.
"Spider... Spidey... Spider-Man!" the monarch of Wakanda finally shouted, holding the shoulders of the boy who talked non-stop.
"Eh?, what's the matter?" Still agitated, the chestnut man came to his senses after the frantic movements.
"Explain yourself, but slowly. Breathe and then speak," T'challa explained patiently, stepping aside for Clint and Carol to rush to the aid of the sleeping Black Widow.
"He needs to learn to control his emotions," Black Panther said to the boy's reactions
