Chapter 3

Eren Yeager vs Prometheus: Part 2

Townfall

"YOU ARE GOING TO DIE EREN YEAGER!" Prometheus bellowed. He tried to manoeuvre himself out of the spike that impaled him through the chest but the flesh had regrown around the branch and every attempt to move resulted in him tearing out his own flesh.

From the top of the tree the titan struggled and raged. "I will crush you and your entire species! You will be the first one to die!"

Horrified, both the gods and the humans watched the display of rage. The only one who didn't appear to be shocked was Eren himself.

The Attack Titan looked up at the tree with the ever same cold smile.

Hardened titan skin had managed to trap the raging Prometheus and kept him from the ground and out of reach.

Still, Prometheus wasn't slowing down at all. Instead he was growing in size as the flesh was torn and regrown each second.

Zeus looked at the scene with amusement. Although his hatred for Prometheus had subsided over the years, he couldn't help but to crack a manic smile.

"It's been a long time since I've seen Prometheus roar like that," Zeus said wistfully.

"I don't get it!" Ares said with a terrified expression. Titan blood was dripping down the titan skin tree and the whole world witnessed a titan bleed. "How can a mere human harm a god?!"

"Prometheus is cursed with mortal flesh," Hermes answered from beside him. A smug expression was on the messenger's smile. "Although the damage done by the human is impressive, it is only by the grace of us gods that he can be harmed at all." His eyes narrowed. "However, there is nothing that the human can do to kill Prometheus."

The titan in question opened his mouth from atop the tree. Blood mixed with spit flew out of his mouth.

Then Prometheus unleashed a roar that sounded like it came from the bottom of his soul.

The scream echoed through the town and the roar reverberated through the streets.

The ground began to shake in the same frequency, windows snapped. In the distance the huge walls started to fall. They sunk into the ground.

It wasn't just the walls. The entire place was slowly sinking into the earth like the city was being swallowed whole by the earth.

"PEOPLE!" Heimdall stared at the gigantic walls that were returning to the earth they came from. "PROMETHEUS IS CALLING UPON THE EARTH TO DO HIS BIDDING!"

"That's not good," Brunhilde began to sweat.

Eren tried to move but found his titan body unable to wade through the mud turned ground. It wasn't just that everything was sinking, he could feel the earth wanting to drag him down and consume him whole like it was eating the entire town.

"Eren Yeager is stuck but so is Prometheus?! Is this a stalemate?" Heimdall's eyes shot between Eren and Prometheus. Both stuck in their own right.

It was Prometheus who got free first. The titan released one final shriek and an explosion erupted right in his place.

The bone tree structure shook and shattered as it was swallowed by the fire and smoke.

A large figure dropped from the tree onto the ground. A gaping large hole was visible in his chest. Arteries, veins and bones were mending themselves already.

The monster was nowmassive and towering over the town. Yet, despite its size it managed to stand atop the sinking ground without trouble.

The expression on Prometheus' face was one of pure rage. Fire danced around his body and across his face, marking his scars in dark red.

Prometheus roared and raised his palm at the Attack Titan. He put both his hands together and an intense light source was manifested between his palms. The air crackled with energy.

The wind stopped to blow for a second. Everyone could feel the mass imminent mass scale destruction.

"I don't want to look," Göll covered her eyes with her hands.

From across the audience humans echoed her sentiment. They were shouting, praying or yelling at the Attack Titan to do something.

The titan remained unmoving.

"Run!"

"Flee!"

"Watch out!"

"Too late," Zeus laughed out loud. He slammed his fist down in joy.

A second sun exploded in the centre of the arena. Fire as bright as a thousand bombs tore through the area, consuming both the Attack Titan and the entire North side of the arena.

Buildings, the walls, rocks. Everything was launched skyhigh before the second wave of flames turned everything to dust.

"WE ARE WITNESSING THE POWER OF FIRE! HALF OF ARENA IS GONE!"

Black smoke spread through the arena. The hazy fog left the audience clueless. Both the gods and the humans peered into the smoke in hopes of finding anything that would allude to the outcome of the match.

"He's dead, it's over." Shiva leaned back disappointedly.

"It would be a shame," Aphrodite pursed her lips. "The human was interesting."

Brunhilde frantically scanned the arena for anything that could give her a read on the situation.

"Eren Yeager has been eradicated completely." Heimdall said. "Smoke clouds the sinking city and humanity's future sinks along with it. It appears that the Devil of Mankind wasn't good enough to slay one of ours."

"No, he's not done yet." Mikasa spotted Eren first.

On the tip of the tallest building left standing stood a man. The cape on his back waved in the wind while he was overlooking the scene.

As the smoke cleared others caught wind of the Eldian Devil soon after and not long after, all the eyes were turned to Eren Yeager.

"AND HE IS ALIVE!" Heimdall yelled. "SOMEHOW HE ESCAPED."

"Not somehow," from the audience, Zeke muttered.

"You got something you want to say?" Levi glanced at the Beast Titan.

"He left his titan long before Prometheus fired the blast." Zeke summarised. "As expected brother."

The humans in the audience cheered and raised their fists when they spotted Eren Yeager standing, still alive.

"THIS IS NOT OVER JUST YET! EREN YEAGER KEEPS FIGHTING!" Heimdall pumped his fist in the air. "BUT HE IS IN HUMAN FORM AGAIN, CAN HE STILL TAKE ON THE TITAN?!"

"I don't think he can transform again," Hanji had a concerned look on her face. "The last titan was already less durable than the first one. And he never transformed three times in a row."

"You're forgetting that we're talking about Eren," Jean said with a sad smile. "He'd die trying to go for the kill."

"Come on Eren!" Connie yelled. "Kill the stupid god for us will ya!?"

"YES SLAY A GOD FOR US!"

"Kill them!"

"Win for humanity!"
"You can do it! Keep fighting!"

What had started as a single shout soon turned into a chorus of cheers and encouragement.

For the first time, the entirety of humanity was cheering on an Eldian.

This seemed to anger Prometheus even more. His jaw fell open and he let out a bellowing roar. He turned to the spectators. "IS THIS THE MAN YOU ALL ARE ROOTING FOR?! A MASS MURDERER!? IS HE WHAT REPRESENTS HUMANITY?! HATRED AND VIOLENCE?!"

The shower of cheers died down abruptly.

Prometheus turned to the tower Eren was standing on. He was still a small distance away but Prometheus had grown to twice the size of Eren's titan. He was towering over the entire arena. There wasn't anywhere he couldn't see.

"HOW CAN ALL OF YOU ROOT FOR THIS MONSTER?" Prometheus growled at Eren.

Underneath Eren the building was slowly disappearing into the ground. He didn't seem to mind.

He watched the entire scene with a cold expression. Considering his options and available terrain.

"WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF EREN YEAGER?!" Prometheus challenged him.

Everyone's eyes snapped towards Eren at the same time.

The wind blew past. His eyes were still cold and calculating, trying to find the best route for an attack.

Finally, Eren replied.

He let out a dry laugh.

Uncertain and warry, the audience waited for Eren to continue. "Didn't you hear the announcer? I am 2000 years of violence personified. The monster that fought to destroy the world, the Devil of Paradis."

Everyone held their breath. Both gods and humans were listening, wondering with a morbid curiosity where this was all leading to.

Everyone could sense it, maybe Eren most of all.

The end was approaching.

"Heimdall is right, I am the monster parents tell their children about," he raised his chin. "But you know what?"

He moved his hand to his chest and clenched his fist, placing it over his heart. On his back the wings of freedom swayed in the wind. "I AM STILL HUMAN! Every decision that led me to my path, and every decision that led everyone else to their path were made by humans. Just because the gods don't like the path we took doesn't mean you can just decide to end us!"

Eren glared at Zeus.

"We are not slaves to your whims. No titan, no walls and no god shall stop us. We are born free and I will fight for that freedom until death."

Brunhilde smirked.

People in the audience mimicked the salute.

"So here's from the Devil of humanity, A DECLARATION OF WAR TO THE GODS!'' Eren took a step forward and dropped down from the building.

Both sides of the audience exploded.

The building behind Eren exploded into a million pieces as a fireball tore through it.

He could hear a thousand voices screaming at once. People were screaming murderer, people were crying out for his victory. Everyone watching was enraged.

Even Prometheus screamed and trashed like a wild beast.

Only Eren remained calm. As he flew down he calculated the optimal path to his target. What little ground he still could use and what buildings hadn't completely vanquished just yet.

His ODM gear was working over time. No gas was spared as he performed the most reckless manoeuvres he had ever done with the gear.

He flew past an armoury, jumped over the rooftop and ran away from an explosion. He jumped down, shot a hook at a sinking rooftop and swung away, narrowly avoiding getting shot out of the air by a fireball.

More fireballs were thrown his way as Eren moved in closer to Prometheus.

Gas was violently and recklessly released from his gear, propelling him forward in all directions.

He dodged multiple explosions and fireballs by just a millimetre.

An explosion lit up an entire section of the arena but Eren Yeager was already on the other end. Rolling and dodging, all the while getting closer to his target.

Then he disappeared for a second.

Prometheus threw fireballs around in hopes of luring him out.

"THIS IS FOR HUMANITY!" Eren appeared above a sinking rooftop behind the titan. His blades were drawn.

"I GOT YOU NOW!" Prometheus spun around.

From the ground tore a spike up into the sky.

The entire arena was silenced in an instant.

No one said anything. No one even thought anything. They all stared horrified at the battlefield.

Caught in the middle of his swing was Eren Yeager.

Impaling him through his chest was a spear made out of clay and stone.

"THE FIGHT IS OVER!" HEIMDALL GASPED. "THE DEVIL OF PARA-"

Yellow thunder struck the sky and crashed down on Eren Yeager. The arena cried and shook as another transformation took place.

The spear broke off immediately as the Attack Titan moved. He dropped down and made a charge towards Prometheus.

His attempt was thwarted. The moment he came close a huge clay spike erupted from the ground and tore through his left leg.

He stumbled and another spike trap rose, impaling the Attack Titan through the chest and pinning him down.

"NO!" Mikasa almost jumped over the fence to help him. It was only her friend Armin that prevented her from joining the fight.

With horror Mikasa witnessed Eren Yeager struggle to even stand.

4 more spikes tore through the earth and speared tore right through his heart.

Eren's eyes flashed green. He roared a cry of pain and agony.

The warhammer Titan's power was activated.

A series of white spikes broke through the ground in the exact same style Prometheus had done.

The titan didn't even bother to dodge. His size almost rendered any assault on him meaningless. A spike impaled him right through the chest and all he had to do was pull himself free.

The hardened titan skin spikes went far higher than before.

One impaled Prometheus through the leg, another through his shoulder and one for his side.

The titan seemed unfazed as his body was violently pierced in all directions. Only when the spikes stopped appearing did he change his expression.

It turned into a gleeful one.

Eren Yeager had no more power left.

The nape on the back of his titan opened with a hiss. From it emerged a human, drenched in blood.

"ANY LAST WORDS EREN YEAGER!?" Prometheus asked as the air crackled with explosive energy.

Eren looked up.

"It's now or never," he whispered. His gaze hardened. "VÖLUNDR!"

"Let's go." The spirit of a Valkyrie hovered above him for a split second before a bright light consumed her.

"YES!" Brunhilde shattered the railing. "KILL HIM!"

The gods gasped as Eren Yeager's ODM gear started to shine bright green. They could feel the divine power held within the blades.

Zeus stared at the Valkyrie. Brunhilde was grinning from ear to ear back at him.

"NO WAY THIS IS POSSIBLE!" Heimdall stumbled back from shock. "I SIMPLY CAN NOT FIND THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE WHAT I AM SEEING!"

Prometheus' eyes widened. "What are you doing?!" He tried to stumble back but his flesh had regrown around the spikes.

A hook was shot from the ODM gear and penetrated through his chest. Horrible pain burned through his chest.

A second wire was launched at the spike that had missed him.

The hiss of gas being expelled announced the end.

Prometheus tried to escape but Eren Yeager was already flying towards him. His blade was drawn and brimming with power and for the first time in the match, Eren Yeager's expression was one of rage.

So this is what my fire looks like? Prometheus thought. It looks kind of n-

The blade sliced straight through his neck.

And then there were no more thoughts.

His headless body dropped down, impaling itself further onto the spike and creating a rain of blood upon the arena.

The city had stopped sinking. The ground returned to its normal state.

Eren Yeager came to a halt and turned around to look at Prometheus.

Red rain fell on him as the world waited for the titan to get back up again.

The entire arena was silenced. Humanity was waiting for their hopes to be crushed and the gods were looking at the scene in terror.

When it became clear the titan wouldn't get up again, Heimdall put the microphone to his mouth.

"T-The victory of the first round of the final battle between god and man, Ragnarok, belongs to Eren Yeager of mankind."

A/N I feel very happy now I got this scene out of my head. I was thinking about it so much I wanted to write it down.

I didn't really plan on writing anything serious for this fic, but I just can't help myself.

I hope you all are excited for the next fighter.
