I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the OC known as Danielle Hopkins. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.
Chapter Three
A brand-new day is about to start for Danielle and Luz. Their dreams consumed of images of the prior day events. Waking up, Luz finds herself in a predicament. For some odd reason, Danielle had shifted in her sleep and had cuddled Luz's head into her chest. Luz was blushing up a storm.
"Oh, my goodness. She's bigger than me," thought Luz, shocked speechless before slightly poking Danielle's cheek. "Danielle… Danielle… wake up… aah!"
"Hmmm… huh…" said Danielle, stirring awake before letting Luz go. "Sorry Luz. I thought you were one of my plushies."
"That's okay," said Luz, just glad to be out of that position before walking over to the window. "It wasn't a dream! Good morning, terrifying fantasy world."
"Yeah yeah, good morning," said Danielle, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and yawning. "That's good crisp air… aah!"
"Good morning," said a Sea Monster, waving at the girls before sinking back into the sea.
"I'm definitely awake now," said Danielle, closing the window.
"Good morning, you little cutie-pie," said Luz, picking King up and kissing his head repeatedly.
"I am not your cutie-pie!" said King, fully awake after that.
"Yes, you are," said Luz, hugging King tightly before putting him back down.
"I know," said King, sighing.
"If I remember correctly, the bathroom is…" said Danielle, walking on up to the third floor alongside Luz and walking down the hall. "Right here…"
"Yup," said Luz, seeing the sign on the door and opening it.
"Hi, Luz! Hi, Danielle!" shouted Hooty, only to be punched and karate chopped by the girls. "Ow! I'm just wishing you a good morning.""
"Don't scare us like that! Also, I'm sorry," said Danielle, rubbing the spot where she punched Hooty. "You could had just greeted us in the kitchen. I don't know about Luz here but I prefer privacy when in the restroom."
"Same here," said Luz, looking at Hooty. "Sorry Hooty."
"Okay," said Hooty, retreating to the front door.
"Now that that is over," said Danielle, seeing Hooty leave before looking at Luz. "Who gets the bathroom first?"
"Rock paper scissors," replied Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Fine," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
After playing a round of Rock-Paper-Scissors and losing to Danielle, Luz waited outside the bathroom for her turn. It didn't take that long for Danielle to tidy herself up and such before handing over the bathroom to Luz. Heading downstairs and straight to the kitchen, Danielle spots King preparing some breakfast of what looked to be scrambled eggs with eyes in it.
"That's… unique," said Danielle, staring at the dish.
"Yup," said King, plating his food. "If you want something, grab it before anyone else does."
"Are there regular eggs?" asked Danielle, helping King into his high chair.
"Closest thing you'll get is griffin eggs," replied King, looking at Danielle.
"Mmm… these?" asked Danielle, grabbing a carton of eggs from the fridge.
"Yup," said King, rubbing his paws together as he stares at his dish.
"Well then, let's see if the food is edible here for me and Luz," said Danielle, preparing breakfast for her and Luz, a simple dish of egg in a basket. "There we go. Hope Luz like this."
"Cool," said King, before seeing a third plate. "Is this one mine?"
"Uh sure," replied Danielle, before going back to the stove. "I'll just make another one for Miss Eda."
"Yum," said King, pulling the plate towards him.
"There, that should do it," said Danielle, finishing her cooking and putting the last plate on the table as Eda and Luz came in the kitchen.
"Remember me? Luz?" said Luz, as a coffee cup hits the back of her head. "We freed the oppressed and defeated the evil warden together? Yesterday?"
"Kid, lay off the details. I haven't even had my cup of apple blood yet," said Eda, before seeing a plate of breakfast for her. "Did you make me breakfast?"
"Yeah, I hope you don't mind," said Danielle, sitting down and eating breakfast.
"Nope," said Eda, eating her breakfast. "Not bad kid."
"Don't you mean apple juice?" asked Luz, looking at Eda.
"No," replied Eda, looking at Luz.
"Does this world have coffee?" asked Danielle, looking at Eda as she eats.
"You mean that bitter brown morning brew your realm has," said Eda, looking at Danielle as she finished her breakfast. "Then no."
"Looks like I'm going cold turkey here," thought Danielle, finishing her breakfast as well. "Luz, I made you some as well."
"Oh thanks," said Luz, grabbing her plate and finishing it in a matter of seconds. "Okay done."
"Did you even taste it?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Okay back on track. Teach me some spells. When do I get a magic staff? Was I supposed to bring my own runes?" asked Luz, staring at Eda. "Do you have a dangerous magical quest for me?"
"No dangerous ones right now," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, kid. Being a witch doesn't happen overnight," said Eda, pushing Luz back some. "Also, you're wrapped in a bathrobe and wearing the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen."
"Pfft," said Danielle, containing her laugh as Luz blows dust off the traffic cone.
"But a magic staff, huh?" said Eda, looking at Luz. "You really want one?"
"More than anything," replied Luz, staring at Eda.
"And you?" asked Eda, staring at Danielle.
"If it gets me from one place to the next," said Danielle, standing up. "Then, yeah, I'd love a staff."
"Magic staff, come to me!" said Eda, holding out her hand.
"Hmm…" said Danielle, hearing crashes as the staff flies in the kitchen and smacks right into Eda. "That had to hurt."
"It's early," said Eda, twirling her staff. "Now, witches are awarded their staffs from school. With me as your teacher, you'll be taking a different approach."
"Fine by me," said Danielle, as Eda dropped a bag of potions in front of her and Luz.
"You'll have to work for it," said Eda, before gesturing the girls to follow her into the living room. "I run a few businesses. On weekends, I offer rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from your side of the realm. But most days I sell only the finest homemade elixirs and potions."
""Snake oil"," said Luz, taking a bottle out of the bag.
"No one wants an un-oiled snake," said Eda, gesturing the girls to follow her upstairs to the balcony area. "Follow me."
"Who would want to oil a snake?" thought Danielle, cringy in disgust. "Gross, I hate those things."
"Today you'll deliver packages and sell potions to that town over there, Bonesborough," said Eda, pointing to a town nearby. "You'll have to be careful. I have rivals everywhere who'd love to take my business down and you along with it. You wanted a dangerous magical quest? Sister, you've got one."
"How is this dangerous?" asked Danielle, looking at Eda.
"We won't let you down, Miss Eda," said Luz, before losing her grip on the bag.
"Got it," said Danielle, grabbing the bag in time.
"I'm sure," said Eda, eyeing Luz before leading them back to the living room. "Remember, never befriend a man in sandals and always measure twice, cut once."
"Uh…" said Luz, staring at Eda.
"Okay…" said Danielle, standing outside the front door. "I have no idea what that means."
"Good luck!" said Eda, slamming the front door shut before lightly nudging King. "I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you have to go with them."
"What? But I just found the perfect spot," said King, standing up and glaring at Eda. "Why do I have to go?"
"You and I know they're either going to get lost or eaten, probably both," said Eda, only to be startled by Luz at the window.
"No, I won't," said Luz, squishing her face against the window.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" asked Danielle, walking back into the house. "Are humans a rare delicacy here?"
"This is why I'm making King go with you," replied Eda, looking at Danielle then King. "And because you work for me, too, unless you want to start paying rent."
"Miss Eda," said Danielle, being pushed back out of the house.
"Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril," said Eda, slamming the front door again.
"Have a nice trip," said Hooty, looking at the girls and King.
"What?!" said Danielle, before handing a slip of paper to King. "Here King, you know the place better than we do right now."
"Yes, I do," said King, walking in the direction towards Bonesborough.
"With you as the guide, we'll get done sooner," said Danielle, walking down a pathway. "And you can get back to your power nap. And I can question Eda."
"Why question Eda?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle. "We're finally on a quest."
"A dangerous one that we shouldn't be taking right now if it yields our early deaths," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Those should come much later after we have a lot more experience here in this realm. We're still new to this place."
"Oh, come on," said Luz, as they entered Bonesborough. "We have King with us. He's got experience."
"Yes, I do," said King, listening to the girls.
"Woah!" said Luz, standing under an archway.
"This place is fascinating and creepy at the same time," said Danielle, watching a weird butterfly fly by. "Are we the only humans here in this town?"
"Haven't seen any others," said King, hands behind his head.
"I've only seen places like this in my dreams. It's incredible," said Luz, looking around.
"My mom is out there somewhere," said Danielle, looking up at the sky. "I hope she's okay."
"Our realm is just as big as your realm," said King, staring up at Danielle. "She could be anywhere."
"I know King, I know," said Danielle, as Luz placed a comforting hand on her.
"I'll help find your mom as well," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Thanks Luz," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"But there might be a reason for it," said Luz, getting excited. "Why are we here? What if we, Luz Noceda and Danielle Hopkins, average teens, actually had... a predetermined path of greatness? Just like Azura!"
"I… don't know the answer to that," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Plus, I really don't like the Azura series that much."
"What?" said Luz, shocked.
"Yeah," said King, grabbing a bottle out of the bag. "Did Azura's path to greatness involve her delivering boil cream?"
"Today we're delivering packages, but tomorrow we'll be earning the respect of everyone on the Boiling Isles with our magical prowess," said Luz, linking arms with Danielle.
"I think it may take longer than that Luz," said Danielle, unlinking her arm with Luz. "Rome wasn't built in a day."
"Ha! Good luck," said King, looking at Luz. "The Boiling Isles is nothing but a cesspool of despair."
"More like a cesspool of delight," said Luz, putting the boil cream back in the bag before looking around and spotting a centaur.
"Luz, wait," said Danielle, following after Luz.
"What has four hooves and wants to buy a potion? This guy," said Luz, walking over and pointing at the centaur.
"My eyes are down here," said the Centaur, sighing as he shows his actual face on his face.
"Sorry sir. My friend is just excited right now," said Danielle, as she pulled Luz away. "Oh my, what should be the areola and nipples are the eyes. It's gonna take a while to get use to this place."
Walking through Bonesborough, King shows the girls to each area on the list. Danielle had to swat various bugs away from biting both her and Luz. One house in general, after having to free Luz after the mouth around the doorbell tried to eat her, was coughing up a storm after being blasted with pepper spray by Danielle. Taking a break before going to the last one on the list, Danielle uses some of the money Eda gave her to get King something called a Not Dog before they sat on the corner of the street.
"So, the currency here is called Snails," said Danielle, really looking at the coin. "Yeah, I can see a snail design on it. And they come in gold, silver and bronze pieces."
"Yup," said King, scarfing his Not Dog down in an instant. "I know I've had enough delight for one day."
"I thought with us being the only humans in a magical world would make us special. But apparently, it just makes everyone want to scream at us or... eat us," said Luz, as Danielle swatted a small winged creature off her elbow. "At this point, Azura had already been sent on an enchanted quest. Where's my quest-granting wizard?"
"Luz, don't you think you're jumping it a little?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz. "Not every adventure will start off easy or go in your favor."
"… …" said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"I may favor isekai animes a lot," said Danielle, staring to the side.
"Oh," said Luz, seeing where Danielle was going somewhat.
"Well sorry to break it to you, Luz, but no one here is that well-dressed," said King, staring at Luz.
"Not even the upper class?" asked Danielle, looking at King.
"Okay, you may have a point there," said King, looking at Danielle.
"This has been a rough day," said Luz, putting her book in the bag before walking down an alley with Danielle and King. "Let's just deliver this last package and go home. Maybe this world isn't what I thought it wa… pretty."
"Okay, that is impressive," said Danielle, looking at the large castle before them as Luz presses the doorbell.
"Big houses always belong to big whack jobs," said King, staring down the doorway. "Let's kick the package inside and get outta here."
"As much as I would agree," said Danielle, walking on in. "They still have to pay for whatever elixirs and potions they've ordered."
"Hello," said Luz, walking alongside Danielle.
"Hey, wait up," said King, only for the doors to slam shut, startling him. "Weh!"
"We're delivering a package from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady. Huh?" said Luz, listening for a response before the stairwell lit up and a wizard walks out. "Today just got good."
"This feels suspicious," said Danielle, eyeing the wizard.
"Magical wizard!" said Luz, excited.
"Weird old man in jim-jams," said King, getting a giggle out of Danielle.
"Here are the items you ordered Sir," said Danielle, holding out a couple of potions. "The payment is twenty-five silver snails."
"I was in my oscillarium, reading the stars" said the Wizard, descending the stairs while staring at Danielle and Luz. "And who might you two be, with eyes full of curiosity?"
"Uh, I-I'm…" said Luz, stuttering.
"Sorry Sir," said Danielle, staring at the Wizard. "We're not allowed to give out our names to customers on our first day."
"Young ladies, dareth I say, I sense something unique about you two," said the Wizard, conjuring forth three chairs and a table with snacks. "Please, won't you join me for tea?"
"Okay," said Danielle, picking King up and walking forward while whispering in King's and Luz's ears. "Don't eat or drink anything. Who knows what he may have put in it. Just pretend."
"Okay," replied King, whispering back.
"Oh, come on," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "He's just being nice."
"Luz," said Danielle, not liking that Luz wasn't taking this seriously.
"I agree with Danielle. Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets," said King, looking at Luz. "I don't trust him."
"But the stars on his robe are sparkling. And look, there's a baby fox in his beard," said Luz, before pointing at the table. "Plus, I see scones on the table."
"Where?" asked King, hopping out of Danielle's arms.
"Luz, please take this seriously," said Danielle, walking after Luz.
"I am," said Luz, before sitting in a chair. "We'd love to join you for tea. Do you sell potions, Sir Wizard?"
"Well, at least King isn't eating or drinking anything like I asked," thought Danielle, seeing King secretly stuff the food under the tablecloth and stomping them down.
"Please, call me Adegast," said the Wizard, staring at the girls. "Ladies, yes, I run a small business."
"You should run a small business of more scones into my mouth," said King, holding up an empty plate before chuckling. "Yes!"
"I think that's enough sugar in you," said Danielle, picking King up. "Let's get you home to rest."
"What?" said Luz, looking at Danielle. "But…"
"Wait, I'm surprised to see you here," said Adegast, stopping Danielle in her tracks. "It was my understanding that Eda delivered the packages herself."
"We're studying under Miss Eda for a while," said Danielle, staring at the Wizard.
"Well, we're kinda, sorta, her apprentices," said Luz, looking at the Wizard.
"Oh!" said Adegast, quirking his eyebrow. "And how are you finding the experience so far?"
"We just started," replied Danielle, scratching under King's chin.
"Can I be honest, Mr. Adegast?" said Luz, staring at the Wizard. "When I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought I was meant for something special. But Eda thinks I'm meant for chores and I'm afraid I came to the wrong place."
"These so-called chores may have a lesson to them," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"On what?" said Luz, slightly glaring at Danielle.
"Well, I have a ques…" said the Wizard, approaching Luz.
"A quest?" said Luz, dropping her cup of tea.
"You didn't let me finish," said the Wizard, chuckling. "I have a question."
"Oh," said Luz, arms behind her back.
"Would you like to go on a quest?" asked the Wizard, staring at Luz.
"Yes!" said Luz, excited.
"Depends," replied Danielle, tilting her head in curiosity. "What kind of quest?"
"I might have just the thing," replied the Wizard, pulling out a scroll and handing it to Luz. "The prophecy speaks of a young human girl who will claim the Celestial Staff and free this world from an ancient evil. Perhaps thou hath cometh here for a reason."
"Perhaps I hath," said Luz, looking at the scroll.
"I know my reason," said Danielle, putting King down and staring at the map on the scroll.
"Should you believe yourself worthy to attempt this quest..." said the Wizard, walking towards the entrance.
"So worthy," said Luz, as Danielle walks alongside her.
"You need to know the road is dark and perilous," said the Wizard, staring at the girls.
"Love peril. Big fan of peril," said Luz, still looking at the map.
"I kinda figure that," said Danielle, walking after the Wizard but staying further behind after pulling Luz towards her. "Luz, we really need to think about this."
"We're about to go on an actual quest," said Luz, whispering to Danielle. "Why you being so negative?"
"I'm just trying…" said Danielle, as Luz pulled away.
"Well, stop trying," said Luz, walking closer to the Wizard.
"And only the Chosen One can pull the staff from its post," said the Wizard, staring at Luz.
"Chosen one," said Luz, staring at the map than the Wizard.
"Neat story, awesome," said King, dragging the bag of potions. "Anyway, your food is gone and we are, too."
"Yes, we have to go," said Luz, before getting excited. "And pack for this enchanted quest! I'm in."
"I'll take you up on this offer as well," said Danielle, looking at the Wizard.
"Really?" said Luz, staring at Danielle, confused.
"Wonderful," said Adegast, twiddling his fingers in excitement.
"Yeah, really?" said King, jumping up on Danielle's shoulder and whispering in her ear.
"Yup," replied Danielle, whispering back. "And Eda is coming along. In secret though. We just have to figure out how to get Luz to listen to us is all."
Heading back to the Owl House, Danielle wonders how to deal with Adegast. Knowing that she and Luz knows no magic yet, Danielle opens the front door and follows after Luz as she grabs the toy sword and some provisions. Heading up to their shared room, Luz prepares for said quest.
"So, King, Danielle, what kind of Chosen One should I be?" asked Luz, staring at the two.
"Huh? What?" said King, kneading Luz's sleeping bag before laying down.
"Should I be full of optimism and goodness, like the Good Witch Azura? Or should I be like a bad girl Chosen One with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude?" asked Luz, opening her book up much like a mouth. ""I act like I don't care, but I secretly do.""
"Ugh, not Azura," thought Danielle, mentally groaning.
"Oh, you guys talking about bad girls?" asked Eda, peeking into the room before walking in. "Wait, what's going on?"
"Eda, tell Luz how dumb wizards are," said King, looking at Eda.
"Ugh! Wizards are the worst. Never trust a man in casual drapery," said Eda, gesturing with a severed arm. "Why?"
"Your wizard client told Luz..." said King, laughing. "She was a… was a Chosen One!"
"Wait, wait, Luz?" said Eda, snorting before laughing.
"Okay, that's enough," said Danielle, seeing Eda's and King's action were hurting Luz. "Your wizard client tried to convince us both of said Chosen One biz. Even gave us a map."
"Let me see this map," said Eda, as Luz handed said map over. "You didn't think this was real, did you?"
"What?" asked Luz, staring at Eda.
"Knew it was too good to be true," said Danielle, leaning against the wall.
"This map is bunk. There's no lake with a Celestial Staff on the Boiling Isles. I would have stolen it ages ago," said Eda, handing the map back. "Ah, don't worry. Couple more months here and you won't look like such a mark."
"Can I have some time alone?" asked Luz, staring at Eda.
"Eda, wait up," said Danielle, walking after Eda straight to the living room.
"What is it?" asked Eda, staring at Danielle.
"I already told Adegast we'd take him up on his offer," said Danielle, looking at Eda.
"Adegast… … … I know this guy. He's no wizard. He's what you'd call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in scamming and manipulating people," said Eda, remembering said client. "He's trying to use you two to get to me."
"Well, why not let him think that?" asked Danielle, sitting down on the couch. "Turn the tables on him for thinking he could trick us."
"Someone's thinking," said Eda, grinning in delight.
"We just need to get Luz in on the act," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "Show her that his words were false and such."
"Alright, let's check up on Luz then," said Eda, walking back up to the girls room. "Hey, Luz? Aw, nuts."
"You have got to be kidding me," said Danielle, seeing that Luz wasn't in the room with the window open.
"Hooty, where'd she go?" asked Eda, leaning out the window.
"Hoot, hoot. If you want the answer that you seek, solve my riddle within a week…" said Hooty, only for Eda to punch the house hard enough for him to feel it. "Ow! Okay, okay. She went into the forest towards Bonesborough. Sheesh!"
"Ugh!" said Eda, groaning.
After having to scrounge around and finding some exploding potions and handing them to Danielle, Eda ends up flying them straight to the castle with King in tow. After landing near the alley, King tries to track Luz by scent.
"This is where we met the scones. I mean, the wizard. Whoa!" said King, seeing the castle was in disarray. "It wasn't like this before."
"I don't like this," said Eda, picking up a map off the floor. "I really don't like this."
"What was that squeak?" asked King, before Danielle skated passed him. "Whoa!"
"I'm going on ahead," shouted Danielle, looking back to Eda and King.
"Danielle, wait," shouted Eda, before looking at King. "Let's go before she hurts herself."
Skating as fast as she could, Danielle skates through an abandoned village with what looked to be dead cats all over. Shuddering, Danielle skates much faster as she prays for the lost souls. After skating for so long, Danielle spots Luz on a bridge with a Teen Boy that was about to place his shirt over her.
"Whoa there!" said Danielle, skating onto the bridge and grabbing the toy sword and pointing it at the Teen Boy. "Back off!"
"Danielle!" said Luz, startled. "What are you doing here?"
"We got worried, that's what!" said Danielle, staring at Luz. "We don't know this world like Eda and King does and you suddenly get up and leave for some quest!"
"I know what I'm doing," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "I am the Chosen One. I was able to see what the map wouldn't show others."
"Did it say "The path will only appear to the worthy"?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Well… Well, yes it did but…" said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Ooo, why are you bothering this with me? Clearly Adegast thought I was the one. Are you jealous that he paid more attention to me and not you?"
"So not jealous," said Danielle, staring at Luz. "I'm just trying to help you."
"Well, I don't need your help," said Luz, standing next to the Teen Boy. "Nevareth here is all the help I need. Isn't that right Nevareth?"
"Exactly Lady Luz," said Nevareth, before looking at Danielle. "Are you perhaps Lady Luz's maid?"
"… … …" said Danielle, eyebrow twitching before grabbing the toy sword out of Luz's hands. "I'm gonna castrate you!"
"Whoa! Danielle, stop!" said Luz, trying to stop Danielle before she pulled her in close. "Whoa!"
"You even step one hair out of line to hurt me and Luz here and I will end your family line," said Danielle, holding Luz tight. "Zrozumieć!"
"Uh… sure," said Nevareth, confused on the last word.
"What was that you just spoke?" asked Luz, as they walked off the bridge.
"Polish. I'm Polish on my Grampa's side and Italian on my Gramma's side," replied Danielle, staring ahead.
"Whoa, multilingual," said Luz, knowing only Spanish and English.
"I remember you speaking a little Spanish yesterday," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Both sides of family," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "And maybe a little Japanese from certain animes."
"My Aunt Reina lives there," said Danielle, staring ahead again. "She and her family taught me the language. I also know my mom's language."
"Ooo, what is it?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"I, uh… don't know," said Danielle, looking at the sky. "Enough questions, let's deal with this quest."
"Good," said Luz, staring ahead. "Then I can prove I'm the Chosen One to you."
"I hope Eda is not that far behind," thought Danielle, pinching the bridge of her nose.
After traveling for quite some time, Nevareth led the girls to the Pixie Village on the map. Luz was having a heck of a time having a picnic with a Fairy Princess. Danielle, not so much as she kept her eyes peeled for any danger lurking nearby and seeing if Eda was as well.
"Thank you for inviting me to your feast, Princess," said Luz, looking at the Fairy Princess. "All your food was so tiny and cute."
"And too sugary," thought Danielle, spitting said food into a bush. "So little yet so packed with too much sugar. Blech!"
"For you, Chosen One," said Fairy Princess, twirling her hands and conjuring forth two bracelets.
"Thank you," said Luz, placing the bracelets on. "You have all been so kind and thoughtful."
"You really shouldn't…" said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Would you feel better if you had one?" asked Luz, holding out one of the bracelets.
"No, that thing is gaudy as heck!" said Danielle, before Luz placed one on her wrist. "Fine."
"I hope this quest never ends," said Luz, excited and striking a pose.
"Your quest will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek is around the bend," said an Old Talking Cat, walking forward.
"Thanks for ruining the mood, Chris," said Luz, dropping her pose.
"Go on, Chosen One. The Celestial Staff is yours. You've earned it," said Nevareth, perking Luz up as she walks away with Danielle. "Farewell, Lady Luz. Farewell, Maid Danielle… aah!"
"Jerk!" said Danielle, after throwing a thick branch at Nevareth's groin.
"Did you have to do that?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Yes," replied Danielle, as they came upon a lake. "That's… uh… pretty neat. But we should…"
"I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said," said Luz, grabbing Danielle's hands and twirling down the walkway. "There is wonder here. And I... I think I came here for a reason."
"My reason is for my mom, remember," said Danielle, before wondering where Eda is and getting worried. "Eda, where are you? You should have caught up by now."
"Okay, this is it. Moment of truth," said Luz, grabbing the staff in the center and pulling it out. "Yes! I am the Chosen One! I knew it! I always suspected there was a reason nobody understood my wacky antics back at home."
"Fine, you got your proof now," said Danielle, walking over to Luz. "Now let's hightail it out of here."
"No!" said Luz, as the staff disintegrates before Danielle pulled her in close. "What?"
"What do you think? You've been duped by Adegast," said Danielle, pulling out an exploding potion. "I'd get ready for a showdown. The Big Bad is coming."
"Luz, the human… and apparently Danielle, the human as well," said the Wizard, appearing from the fog as the real Adegast is shown. "Your hubris has failed you, Witch Apprentices."
"Huh?" said Luz, before her traveling companions and some cats attached to tentacles came out of the ground. "Okay, Luz. Don't panic. This is classic Chosen One biz. You just have to rescue everybody and defeat the final boss… Danielle?"
"Zombies!" screamed Danielle, so loud that Luz and the Wizard had to cover their ears. "Aaah!"
"So loud," thought Luz, looking at Danielle.
"I am everybody! You fool, don't you see? I'm no wizard. And you're no Chosen One," said Adegast, laughing. "I've tricked you."
"What?" said Luz, as the bracelets and ring reacted and changed form into magical cuffs that ended up binding Danielle to her. "No! Betrayed by my own cool accessories. Why are you doing this?"
"Why do you think?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz. "Eda said she had rivals that wanted to take down her business."
"Your friend is right," said Adegast, staring at the girls. "She must be destroyed."
"Does everybody have a beef with Eda here?" asked Luz, as the ones at the end of the tentacles agreed.
"And you lured her right into my trap, all because you wanted to think you were special," sad Adegast, walking slightly closer.
"No," said Luz, glaring at Adegast. "Joke's on you, 'cause Eda isn't stupid enough to fall for your trap."
"Adegast!" shouted Eda, flying into the area and landing.
"Oh, heck!" said Luz, her head drooped.
"Eda, whatever your plan is," said Danielle, looking at Eda as she struggled to get herself and Luz free. "Do it now."
"Eda, I have you now!" said Adegast, as two of his cats grab Eda and King.
"That's right. You have me," said Eda, staring at Adegast. "Now release Danielle and Luz."
"That's her plan," thought Danielle, eyebrow twitching as she gripped the potion tighter and pulling Luz in closer. "We have to think of a way to get loose and strike back."
"But how?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Oh, they can leave. If they want to," said Adegast, before spewing some cloud of fog towards the girls. "But I sense they want a real fantasy."
"Don't breathe it in," said Danielle, holding her breath before seeing Luz being affected. "Luz! I got to think. What can I do in this situation?"
Danielle didn't have to think for long. Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Danielle looks up and sees Eda and King with masks over their mouths. Undoing the magic that was binding the girls, Danielle stares back and forth between the Eda and King before her and the Eda and King in Adegast's clutches. Turns out Eda had conjured an illusion to disrupt Adegast's senses but also a little bit with Luz. It took a little while before Luz was able to overcome Adegast's little illusion and grab the toy sword in defiance.
"I am a Witch's Apprentice. And I'm gonna earn my magic staff the hard way. I believed you, Magic Man. Now feel my wrath!" said Luz, striking away the tentacles with her so called traveling companions attached. "I thought we had a connection, Nevareth!"
"There was never really a connection," said Danielle, throwing an exploding potion at a cat that was about to jump Luz.
"Back off!" shouted Adegast, holding the Illusionary King. "Or the dog gets it."
"I am not a…" said Illusionary King, only to be muffled.
"King, I'm sorry. I should have listened to you and Danielle and never trusted that wizard. You were right. He isn't mystical or magical," said Luz, before glaring at Adegast. "He's just a big, slimy jerk."
"What?" said Danielle, as Adegast shrunk down after Luz kicked the toy sword into his head.
"Well, that's the last time I take an outside referral," said Eda, walking past Luz and picking up and eating Adegast. "Mmm. Oh, did you want some of that?"
"No," said Danielle, covering her mouth in disgust. "All yours."
"Wait… what?" said Luz, only to see the Illusionary Eda and King disappear. "Did you…"
"Look kid. Danielle had Adegast figured out quicker," said Eda, looking at Luz. "You were really too caught up in that little fantasy to really listen so we hatched up a plan. Granted, I didn't think Danielle would get caught as well."
"Hey!" said Danielle, looking at Eda.
"Thought it best for you to see for yourself," said Eda, looking at Luz. "I would have jumped in if things had gotten dicey."
"Oh," said Luz, before looking at Danielle. "I'm… sorry for not listening. This place is nothing like I imagined."
"Look, if it makes you feel better, I probably would have fallen for it too if I wasn't so serious," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I'm a teen much like you, I'm bound to make a mistake or two."
"Looks like I'll have some extra time," said Eda, looking at the girls. "I guess I could start teaching you two magic tonight."
"Yes!" said Danielle and Luz, high fiving each other.
"Better idea," said Eda, taking out two blindfolds and placing them on the girls before settling them on the staff and flying.
"Where ya taking us?" asked Danielle, nervous and gripping the staff tight.
"You'll see," said Eda, flying for quite a bit before stopping midair and taking the blindfold off the girls. "Okay, you can look."
"Whoa!" said Danielle and Luz, staring at the scenery before them.
"The bones of the Isles," said Eda, staring at the isles. "Up close, the Isles can be slimy…"
"And very stinky," said King, pointing his finger up.
"And gross. But if you look at it from a different perspective..." said Eda, tilting the girls heads to the sky.
"It's beautiful," said Luz, mesmerized.
"Yeah," said King, leaning into Luz.
"Bellissima," said Danielle, mesmerized as well. "You know what, I kinda do wish that I was the chosen one as well in that prophecy Adegast came up with."
"Really?" asked Eda and Luz, staring at Danielle.
"Yeah, I actually do love fantasy and imagining myself in them," said Danielle, deeply sighing.
"Eda, how did you know that wizard was lying?" asked Luz, looking at Eda.
"Look, kid, everyone wants to believe they're "chosen". But if we all waited around for a prophecy to make us special," said Eda, chuckling. "We'd die waiting. And that's why you need to choose yourself."
"Does that mean you'll give me a magic staff of my own?" asked Luz, looking at Eda.
"And help me find my mom?" asked Danielle, looking at Eda.
"Not yet," said Eda, pulling Danielle and Luz into a side hug. "But... someday."
"That's an interesting constellation," said Danielle, seeing a constellation above the isles head. "See right there."
"Where?" said Eda, looking in the direction Danielle pointed and seeing nothing.
"It was just right there," said Danielle, seeing it no longer there. "I know what I saw."

"Wow," said Luz's Memory Self, as she watched the day's event unfold. "Can't believe how naïve I was at the beginning."
"Neither can I," said a Woman, standing behind Luz.
"Mami!" said Luz's Memory Self, standing up abruptly. "How are you…"
"I followed the others after we died," said Luz's Mom Memory Self, before looking at the others floating nearby. "What is going on here?"
"I really don't understand myself," replied Luz's Memory Self, looking at her mom. "But we may be able to stop Belos this time for good."
"Good," said Luz's Mom Memory Self, before staring at Luz. "Now then, you'll be explaining a lot more on what happened during your stay here. Obviously, after what we both saw…"
"Oh, I'm going to be so grounded if this plays similar to how I was here," thought Luz's Memory Self, groaning.

"This is odd," said Papa Titan, staring at Danielle from the In Between. "It feels like a part of me is with that Half Breed. Among others that I'm sensing."
"Ugh, so boring," said Collector, from his area of the In Between. "You're making it even more boring here."
"It wouldn't be so boring if you knew that I'm sensing even a part of you with said mortal," said Papa Titan, looking in the direction of Collector's area.
"What?!" shouted Collector, confused. "Why would I leave a part of myself with a mortal? More like how?"
"It couldn't…" thought Papa Titan, thinking on what's going on.
"Did you just go silent on me?" asked Collector, staring in the direction of Papa Titan's area. "I hate the Quiet game! Answer me!"

"Hey Danielle, you mentioned you like isekai animes, right," said Luz, laying on her half of the futon. "Do you like… to play video games?"
"Yup," replied Danielle, trying to sleep. "I play on my dad's old super Nintendo and on the swap."
"Have any pokémon games?" asked Luz, staring at Danielle. "What's your favorite pokémon?"
"Eevee, Brilliant Diamond, Sword, Mystery Dungeon and Arceus Legends," replied Danielle, sighing. "Too many favorites."
"There's got to be one that stands out the most," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Mine's Oshawott with a dark side."
"Pfft, meaning you like Hisuian Samurott," said Danielle, before yawning. "I'd have to say Eevee as my number one."
"Cool," said Luz, shifting onto her back. "What pokémon did you start of with each game? For me, I started with Sobble, Oshawott, Pikachu, and Chimchar in the games you mentioned minus the mystery dungeon one."
"Sobble, Cyndaquil, Eevee, and Turtwig," replied Danielle, cuddling into her comforter. "Now sleep."
"What other game series do you like?" asked Luz, before Danielle hit her with a pillow.
"Atelier… Story of Seasons… Harvest Moon… Rune Factory… Zelda… Fire Emblem… Disgaea," said Danielle, hitting Luz each time upon said game before settling back in to a sleeping position. "Now sleep."
"Okay, okay," said Luz, before staring at the ceiling for a bit. "What animes have you seen?"
"Uuuh…" thought Danielle, just wanting to sleep.
