Prompt: Jack Griffith - "Well why don't you just stand in the middle of the road and shout."- 'Cedar Cove'

There had been damage throughout the ship as he made his way from the bridge to engineering. Not that he was surprised after the beating they took from the Cardassians. They were just lucky that the Cardassians were blood thirsty enough to risk coming into the Badlands after them. However, when he walked into engineer, damage took on a whole new meaning. The engineers of the Val Jean were moving quickly trying to put out fire and fix the more critical systems.

Spotting Dalby in the crowd of frantically moving people, Gerron chose him to carry out the errand Chakotay had sent him down here for. All the captain wanted was a status report from engineering, he hadn't specified from whom that report was to come from, and frankly Gerron found Torres a little scary.

"Dalby, Chakotay sent me down here to get a status report as he couldn't get anyone of the comm."

"That would be because the communications array is fried," Dalby replied, pointing to a baldly charred console that was still smoldering. "Tell Chakotay we need to get back to base to repair most of this damage down here. B'Elanna has managed to keep the engines going. Other than that, most systems are either down or severly damaged."

"Great. I have a feeling I'm going to get my excercise being message boy," Gerron muttered, not intending for anyone to hear him.

Dalby however did hear the remark.

"If you stood halfway between engineering and the bridge, maybe you could relay messages to both areas by shouting really loud," Dalby told the quiet Bajoran. The idea of hearing Gerron shout anything kind of intrigued him in the first place.

"I'll just walk back and forth, but thank-you," Gerron replied, turning to head back to the bridge with the status report from engineering.
