Prompt: Frank Burns - "I'm here to discuss something besides underwear" - 'M*A*S*H'

Commander Chakotay was about to hit the door chime when the door to Tuvok's office slid open and two shame-faced security officer walked out.

"Excuse us, Commander," one of them managed as they disappeared quickly down the corridor.

"No problem," Chakotay replied absently as he cast a quick glance after the retreating officers before stepping into the doorway of the security office. "What was that about?" Chakotay asked, as Tuvok looked up at him from his place behind his desk.

"I minor problem, Commander," Tuvok replied. "It seems Nelson and Creighton seem to find it humorous that they stole another crewmates clothes while he showered down at the gym, forcing him to walk back to his quarters in his underwear."

"I guess some people got more of a show than they anticipated," Chakotay remarked, remembering being a victim of that prank at the Academy.

Tuvok didn't comment, but instead made his own observation. "I fail to understand why humans find humor in doing things that cause humiliation for others."

"It's not always meant to be mean. Sometimes, it's just a way for people to blow off steam and you've got to admit, outlets out here are limited."

"Nonetheless, it is unacceptable behavior for my security officers to be engaging in."

"That is your discretion of course," Chakotay replied. "However, I came here to discuss something other than underwear pranks."

"Indeed, Commander," Tuvok replied, gesturing toward the chair across from him.

"I've got a personnel transfer for you to consider, Mr. Tuvok," Chakotay continued, sitting down and handing him the PADD he carried.

"Crewman Gerron has expressed a desire to become a security officer?" Tuvok asked, reading the information.

"He has. I guess you're training sessions hit home with at least one of the trainees, Tuvok."

"Apparently," Tuvok replied, reviewing the performance evaluation as well as recalling his own assessment about the young Bajoran from his remedial training sessions. The Bajoran had performed adequately once he had begun reaching the Maquis. "However, Crewman Gerron does not possess the training necessary to be a security officer."

"No he doesn't. At least not yet."

"Are you suggesting that I train him?"

"Why not? I'm sure you're capable of doing so and technically, any department he is placed in, Gerron is going to require training. If we were back in the Alpha Quadrant he is at the age where he would be in the academy not serving on a starship."

Tuvok considered Chakotay's argument and couldn't come up with any logical argument against it. "Point taken," Tuvok agreed. "I am willing to give it a try. However, Crewman Gerron must successfully complete the training or you will have to find another department to place him in."

"That's all I ask, Lt." Chakotay replied, getting to his feet. "When should I tell him to report to you?"

"Give me seventy-two hours to put together a training curriculum."

"Very well. Thank-you for your time, Lt." Chakotay said as he exited the office leaving Tuvok to his latest task.
