Prompt: Eifion - "You're being nice to me all of a sudden." - 'Pobol y Cwm'

He hadn't meant to snoop, really he hadn't. However, the PADD had been left lying about their quarters. All he had intended to do was move it so that he could clean, after all one of the best defense against illness was a clean living environment.

However, the words on the PADD had caught his attention, and without really realizing it, Billy had found himself reading what had been written there. Now, he was torn between wishing he had left the PADD lay and a sense of responsibility to take action.

After all, whether he liked his roommate or not, if something were to happen to him now, Billy knew he would feel responsible.

Placing the PADD back, he stopped his cleaning efforts. Gerron often complained the heavy chemical smell gave him a headache. Billy supposed he could chance the germs just this once.

Next, he had grabbed a PADD of his own and began doing research on what he could do to help his roommate. He was still immersed in the subject when his roommate came in.

"Ah, there it is," Gerron said, picking up the PADD.

Though he doubted the comment was met for him, Gerron rarely spoke to him, Billy decided to take it as an opening.

"How was your day?"

Gerron looked at Billy. "Fine," the Bajoran replied, suspicion in his voice.

"Tal and I were going to movie night tonight. Do you want to join us?" Billy asked, despite having made it clear he hadn't want Gerron joining them in the past when Tal had extended the invitation.

"Why are you suddenly being nice to me?"

"Just trying to be social," Billy said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Tal put you up to this?"

"No," Billy replied quickly, though he knew Tal would like the two of them to be friends. "I just thought maybe you'd like another friend and we do have to live together."

Gerron was silent as he looked from Billy, to the PADD and back at Billy. "Did you read this?"

Billy looked down at his own PADD. "Yes," he admitted. "I wasn't trying to. I was just going to move it to clean and it caught my eye."

He was waiting for Gerron to yell at him. Instead he heard laugher.

"I don't know what is so funny," Billy stated looking up. "Those are some serious feelings to confess too."

Gerron nodded. "Yeah, I guess so. Hopefully, it'll also grab someone's attention. After all, a good story needs to be an attention holder."

"Story?"

"Yeah, story. I may not be the happiest person on Voyager but I'm not suicidal. I've had plenty of chances to end my life since joining the Maquis and haven't acted on one of them yet."

"Well, good," Billy replied, feeling a bit embarrassed. "The offer to join us for movie night still stands though."

"I'll think about it," Gerron replied, heading in the direction of his bed.
