Prompt: Fiona's Boss - "If it weren't for prison I'd kill you!" - 'About A Boy'

He had never considered himself a violent person, but as he held tight to the rope he had wrapped around the former Maquis throat from behind, he really had to rethink that. It was just that no matter what he did he couldn't seem to get Tal to notice him. Oh sure, she thought of him as a good friend, but he didn't want to be 'just friends' with her. Tal had more patience with him than anybody else ever had, even his own mother. She tried to calm his fears instead of just dismissing them. She never laughed at him, no matter what he was rambling about. It felt good to have someone like that around. He felt like he could tell her anything, and given the things that she had confided in him, she felt the same way.

But he was still good ole Billy, the best friend.

Which would be fine if that meant she spent most of her off duty time with him. He could handle that. Just being around her was better than nothing. But no, she wanted to spend time with Gerron - the misfit Maquis who seemed happier not to bother making friends.

But then that was just the type of person Tal would befriend. It was just who she was and one of the things he loved about her.

He didn't love sharing her with Gerron though.

As the struggling body finally went limp, he let go of the rope, letting the body of Gerron fall to the ground. There was something satisfying about the lifeless eyes that stared back at him.

"If it weren't for prison, I'd kill you for real," Billy told the now dead Bajoran.

He stared for a bit longer before saying out loud, "Computer end program."

The lifeless body of Gerron Ral disappeared as it was replaced by the black grid of the holodeck. If Voyager had a counselor, he'd probably need to arrange a visit. However, being in the Delta Quadrant meant he wasn't likely to find one, unless he wanted to confide in their holographic doctor. Given the doctor's dismissal of his current dilemma's that wasn't very likely.
