It had been a year since Carla's release from prison...
The car pulled up into the cobbled streets and came to a stop as the door flew open. After Carla's release, Carla and Lia had decided to go to LA for a few months and get away, however these months extended more and more every time they were due to come home. Eventually due to Lia's GCSEs, they decided to fly back to England in March, however the thought of facing the street was still just too much for Carla to bear with and with now two practical new born babies as well she couldn't think of a worse idea. So both mother and daughter had decided to move to Devon for a couple of months to get Lia through her GCSEs and then move back to Coronation Street when the time felt right. Since the mother and daughter had moved away, Peter had moved away from the square as well to Portsmouth, when Tina had woke up Tommy had found his way back to the square after finding out what had happened to the young girl. After getting together again they decided to move way from the street and their pasts a few months earlier after Tina fell pregnant with Tommy's baby. Carla had had the twins over 7 months ago and was adjusting to motherhood really well, even with the surprise added bonus of another child. A few weeks after Carla had given birth to the twins, Michelle also gave birth to a little girl and came and visited Lia and Carla in Devon once they had got back to the UK. No one on the street apart from selected people knew that Carla was back in the UK and that's how they liked it, however when Lia said she had started to miss the street and her aunt and uncle, Carla had agreed it was time to move back and face their demons at some point. So when a flat became available in Victoria Court, Carla put an offer in and was accepted almost immediately to Lia's delight. Carla stepped out of the car and stood in front of Victoria Court, she had paid movers previously to collect their things from Devon and move them into the new flat so there was no messing about to be done with the kids around.
"Its not some nostalgic 90's movie you know," Lia smirked from the car as she opened the car door.
"What?" Carla scowled slightly in confusion.
"You stood outside the flat like your in a 90's romcom and have been reunited with your hometown," Lia fantasised grinning as Carla scoffed.
"Oh shut up," Carla quipped, "Right I can't be bothered to get the pushchair out, if you get Rosie, I'll get Ava?"
"Mother hen as always," Lia grinned as Carla rolled her eyes and opened the car door to reach in and get her daughter, "Does Chelle know we're coming?"
"No, thought we could surprise her," Carla smiled.
"Yeah well Fia better be awake, I haven't had a cuddle from her for about a month," Lia smiled back as they began to walk up the cobbles to the Rovers.
"Oh Carla, your back!" Rita greeted as she came out of Audrey's.
"Hiya Rita," Lia smiled sweetly.
"Hello lovey you okay?" Rita replied, "You look like you've got your hands full."
"Yeah you can say that again," Carla scoffed slightly.
"And what are you little cherubs called," Rita cooed as she stroked the cheek of Ava.
"Well this is Ava, and that's Rosie," Carla smiled as she bounced her daughter up and down to settle her.
"How gorgeous," Rita smiled, "Right well, I best be off, but I am glad your back lovey."
"See you later Rita," Lia grinned before the mother and daughter continued to walk into the pub.
"Chelle is gonna eat you alive," Carla nudged her daughter as Lia nodded before walking through the door of the pub.
"Ah Lia! Carla!" Liz welcomed as she hurried round from the bar to greet them.
"Hiya Liz," Lia smiled as Liz kissed her head.
"Awe look at these two Carla they're a credit to you," Liz smiled as she cuddled Rosie who had been passed from Lia.
"Not as much as me," Lia sang as Liz rolled her eyes playfully.
"Whatever you," Carla scoffed, "Where's Chelle."
"She in the back ... with Rob," Liz explained.
"Awe brill, we good to go through?" Carla replied.
"Yeah but be warned I don't think they are in the best of moods with each other," Liz explained as Carla raised her eyebrows, "I'll let them explain."
"It's like the drama just follows us," Lia smirked as Carla nudged her.
"Come on," Carla walked towards the back, "Thanks Liz."
Liz nodded in acknowledgment as the mother and daughter began to walk through. Carla walked up to the door to hear loud voices coming from behind the door, she paused for a second before grabbing the handle of the door and walking in.
"Carla?" Michelle questioned slightly as she turned her head to the door, the noise of it opening catching their attention.
"Hiya babe," Carla smiled slightly readjusting Ava on her hip.
"Oh my god, what are doing here!" Michelle exclaimed going to hug her friend before looking past her shoulder to see Lia behind her with her younger niece on her hip, "Lia, look at you! Loving the hair, the colours gorgeous."
"Awe thanks Chelle," Lia continued to hug her auntie.
"Rob," Carla greeted with a smile as Rob got up to hug her.
"Sis," Rob smiled back before she released her self from the hug and allowed Lia to hug her uncle.
"So what's going on round here then?" Carla questioned as Michelle looked between her friend and Rob with a short smile.
"Lia, Amy's upstairs she's missed you," Michelle answered.
"I'll make myself scarce then?" Lia smiled slightly, "Do you want me to take Ava as well?"
"No its fine don't worry," Carla smiled to her daughter as Michelle walked towards her nieces.
"Pass this one, we can have some cuddles," Michelle cooed as Lia nodded and went to walk upstairs.
"Right so come on then, what's happened?" Carla asked taking a seat on the sofa, bouncing Ava on her lap.
"He won't listen," Michelle concluded.
"Well we knew that but what's different this time," Carla quipped as Rob rolled his eyes.
"Are you gonna tell her or am I?" Michelle asked.
"I wasn't telling her for a reason," Rob huffed.
"She is here you know," Carla interrupted.
"I've been seeing Tracy," Rob revealed leaving Carla speechless, "I've been lonely, she was lonely. She contacted me from the prison so I went to visit her, I've been going for a bit. Its been ... nice."
Carla sat and listened as she took in what had been said, "Rob if you were lonely I told you to come and stay with us in Devon for a bit, get away from the street."
"No cause I'd only be in the way, plus I can't just run away from my problems, I've got my job here and the flat, thanks to you," Rob sighed.
"But Tracy, really?" Carla questioned before sighing, "Right okay so why are yous arguing?"
"There's only two versions of Rob drunk and angry or loved up with a killer," Michelle laminated.
"Oh shut up Michelle, all you do is exaggerate whatever I do or say," Rob argued back.
"Right, why don't we just draw a line under this," Carla cut in as Michelle and Rob glared at her, "I get you've been lonely Rob and your missing Tracy, at the end of the day its been nearly a year and she was dragged away from you so quickly it is hard to adjust, but getting drunk and taking it out on everyone else or even worse letting her get back in your head, is not the way. And Chelle I know he can be hard and I'm sorry I haven't been here and you know how grateful I am for trying to help him, even after having Fia but why don't we all just move past it, okay try and figure a way to move forward. Surely that's best for everyone?"
The three adults sat in silence for a minute before Michelle spoke, "Look Rob I'm sorry if I've lost my patience with you."
"Yeah well I'm sorry I've tested it so much, I don't want to cause anything I'm just struggling, I guess," Rob sighed.
"Listen, me and Lia were gonna get a Chinese tonight once I've put the girls to bed, celebrate moving into Victoria Court-"
"What?"
"Moved where?"
"Well I had to mediate before I had chance to tell yous," Carla laughed slightly, "But yeah we've moved in, we're moving back to the street fully ... so, why don't you join us tonight, save staying in the old flat, have a catch up?"
"Y6eah go on then, why not," Rob nodded as he went to stand up, "Why don't I go get it?"
"Oh your a star," Carla grinned as he rolled his eyes and smirked as he left.
"Proper catch up tomorrow?" Carla questioned standing up and readjusting Ava on her lap.
"Of course," Michelle smiled kissing the top of Rosie's head, "It's nice to have you back babe."
"Love you," Carla grinned as she kissed Michelle on the cheek and began to leave.
