The room was so silent you could have heard a pin drop.
Tony felt himself starting to sweat. Had he really just blurted out that he loved Angela? This wasn't how he wanted to tell her. He had planned on a more tender and softer approach. But Linda had made him so angry that before he could stop himself he shouted that he loved Angela and not Kathleen.
Oh this wasn't good. This wasn't good at all!
In a way though he was glad it was finally out. He had been holding in his feelings for months-no years. But the fact that he had blurted it out in front of Linda who no doubt would tell Kathleen the first chance she got was unsettling. He needed to tell Kathleen first. He owed her that much at least. And he wouldn't feel right starting a relationship with Angela while he was still dating Kathleen. Of course he was going to break up with her but that was before she told him the news of her Aunt's stroke. So he had decided to wait until things were more calm.
But now after his outburst that was definitely out the window!
Angela looked at Tony, her eyes widened in shock. Did she really hear what she thought she did? Did he really say that he loved her? She had waited so long for him to tell her. But. But what about Kathleen? Did this mean that he didn't love her? Then why was he dating her? Why did he sleep with her that night in the hotel room? Why did he tell her he didn't know if it was over with her? A sinking feeling went through her. Maybe he really didn't love her. Maybe he had just said that to shut Linda up.
A part of her wanted to get out of there. She was so confused and needed some time to think. She started to get up but was stopped by Linda's words.
"You love her?!" Linda spat the her like she had just eaten something nasty. Her face scrunched up and she shook her head.
"Uh yes. Yes I do."
"I don't believe this shit! You have a fabulous woman like Kathleen and you love this pathetic bitch?!"
"Look Linda. As I said before this isn't any of your business."
'It is my business! Kathleen is a dear friend of mine and while she is going through a hard time her boyfriend just said he loves another woman."
Tony rubbed his hand over his face. This wasn't getting them anywhere.
"So tell me then. If you really love her, why are you dating Kathleen?"
As much as she hated to admit it Angela had to agree with her.
"Well our relationship is very complicated."
Complicated. Yeah that was one way to describe it.
"Ah complicated. It's so complicated you dragged Kathleen into it?"
Tony glanced at Angela. She was looking back and forth between Linda and him. He needed to find some way to make everything right.
"Wait a minute! I think I understand. Angela here is frigid and won't give you any so you decided to get your jollies with Kathleen. You disgusting pig!"
Tony felt himself get red. He had just about enough!
"You better watch your mouth! No one talks to or about Angela like that!"
"Oh gee. What are you going to do?" She smirked. "I think I hit a sore spot because I don't see you denying it."
"I got involved with Kathleen because I did-do like her. I thought at the time she was the right woman for me. But I know now that I was wrong. I was in denial. I love Angela. "
He loved her. He really did love her.
But wait! What if he didn't? She had to get out of here before she lost her mind! She stood up but before she could leave Curtis came into the room with a police officer.
'That's her sir." Curtis pointed to Linda.
"What's going on?" Tony asked in confusion.
"I have a camera and monitor in my office. I saw this lady-he pointed to Linda- slap Angela right across the face. I have a 0 tolerance for stuff like that."
"So you called the police?" Linda glared at him
"You're damn right I did! This is my business and I will not have you tarnishing it by acting like a spoiled brat!"
"I'm acting like a spoiled brat? "
The police officer held up his hand. "Okay that is enough." He turned to Angela. "Ma'am, do you wish to press charges?"
"Of course she does!" Tony informed him.
"Sir, I am going to need you to stay out of this. The only person who can press charges is her." He pointed to Angela.
Tony looked at. Angela. Angela looked around the room. Everyone was staring at her with different expressions
Tony was silently pleading with her to press charges.
Curtis was looking at her in sympathy.
The officer was looking at her his face stern all ready to arrest Linda if she gave the word
And Linda? Angela felt a cold chill go through her. She was looking at her like she wanted to tear her hair out by the roots.
What should she do? Should she just let it go? What would it accomplish if she had her arrested? Would it make everything okay? She touched her lip. When Linda had slapped her she couldn't believe it. She had been so shocked that a perfect stranger had done that. No one had ever treated her like that in her life. Oh sure there was that one time with Theresa from Brooklyn but she had been as much to blame as Theresa had been.
But this time was different. She had been enjoying her time with Tony and before she knew it had been slapped across the face by a woman she had never met before. She couldn't let her get away with it!
"Yes. Yes. I want to press charges."
Tony breathed a sigh of relief.
"Very well." The police officer took out his handcuffs. "Ma'am please put your hands behind your back."
"What are you kidding me?" Linda screeched.
"No, I am not. I will not ask you again. Put your hands behind your back."
Linda shot daggers at Angela but did what she was told.
The officer read her her rights and started to escort her out.
"You bitch! You are going to pay for this!" Linda yelled at Angela.
Angela gulped. She had never seen anyone so angry at her before.
She collapsed in her chair.
"Ms. Bower. Mr. Micelli. Please accept my deepest apologies."
Tony waved his hand in the air. "You don't have anything to apologize for. But thank you for calling the police."
"Of course sir. As I said I have 0 tolerance for stuff like that."
"I'm sorry. I have to get out of here." Angela stood up and grabbed her purse. She opened it up and took out her wallet. She started to put some bills on the table but was stopped by Curtis.
"No, that won't be necessary. After everything that happened your dinner is on the house."
"Thank you. But, I can't…I can't stay." Her eyes and voice filled with tears.
"Angela? Please stay. We need to talk."
Angela looked into his eyes. They were begging her to stay. But, she couldn't.
She needed to be alone,
"I'm sorry Tony. I can't." Without another word she walked away.
"Angela, wait!" Tony ran after her. But she was walking too fast. Before he could blink she was out the door and hurrying to her car. He got outside and saw her get into her car and speed away…
A/N: UH OH! Angela is upset and driving and I am the writer.
Brace yourselves everyone! LOL
