The next day, they were heading through Half Peak as a light blizzard blows through.
"All right, let's get you all cleaned up." Sid said. "I mean, what's your daddy gonna say if you go back all schmutzy and stinky like this?" He then slurps as he cleans the baby's face. "Let me just clean that up. That looks good. A little bit here."
"You clean up nice, little fella." Manfred said.
"I think he's starting to look like me." Sid said. "Hey, Diego, what do you think?"
"Uh... I'm not seeing it." Rainbow said.
Diego looked around looking unsettled. "Maybe we shouldn't do this."
"Why not?" Sid asked.
"Because if we save him, he'll grow up to be a hunter." Diego said. "Who do you think he'll hunt?"
"Maybe because we save him, he won't hunt us." Sid said and the baby poked his nose. "Ow!"
"Yeah, and maybe he'll grow fur and a long, skinny neck, and call you Mama!" Diego said sarcastically.
They all turn to him.
"What's your problem?" Manfred asked.
"Is something bothering you, Diego?" Sora asked. "You've been like this since we got here."
"Nothing." Diego said. "Let's go. I'm freezing my tail off."
They continued on as Diego looked uneasy and turns to one of the ledges as another saber was seen heading off. And Diego turns back to the group.
"Hey, Diego!" Manfred said. "You frozen back there?"
Diego stood silent and looked uneasy.
"Get down!" Diego suddenly yelled and rushed over to them.
"Huh?" Sid frowned.
"What?" Manfred said.
"Shh! Get down and follow me." Diego said.
"Hey, what's going on?" Sid asked.
"At the bottom of Half Peak, there's an ambush waiting for you." Diego confessed.
"What?" Sid exclaimed.
"What do you mean, ambush?" Manfred questioned.
"Wait a minute." Donald said putting pieces together.
"You set us up." Manfred said.
"I knew something was going on when we got here." Twilight said.
"It was my job!" Diego said. "I was supposed to get the baby, but then..."
"You brought us home for dinner." Manfred said.
"And dragged us all into it." Donald said.
"That's it." Sid said. "You're out of the herd!"
"I'm sorry." Diego said.
"No, you're not." Manfred said suddenly pinning Diego against the wall with his left tusk. "Not yet."
"Listen, I can help you." Diego said.
"Stay close, Sid." Manfred said. "We can fight our way out!"
"You can't!" Diego said. "The pack's too strong. You have to trust me."
"Trust you?" Manfred said. "Why in the world would we trust you?"
"Because I'm your only chance." Diego said.
Manfred remained silent as his expression lowered.
