Pokemon Virus Version Chapter 105: The Climax! From Snagged to Tyranitar!
Location: Grande Opera House
POV: There is no POV at this time.
The mysterious hooded boy…it turns out he is a demon child employed by the evil organization.
"Seth, this whole time you had no idea." 17 said, still ascended in the air thanks to the tentacles coming from his robe.
17 looked down to a Seth asking, "So you've been after me this whole time?"
"Yes, and no." 17 answered, "Through deceit, this tournament was a success…for me. It's not you who was my top priority, Seth. It was…"
Finishing his sentence with an action rather than a name, Commander 17 used one of his tentacles to pick up one of the defeated dolls. He lifted his tentacle and grabbed the blonde haired, maroon banged doll with his hand, "I heard the news. Lady Beatrice located Chapel, the girl who houses Missingno in its purest form. SHE was my primary target for this mission. All that was left was to see how the final round of the tournament would play out. That doesn't seem possible now, sadly."
If there was anything that could force short sighted judgement from Seth, it was his obsession with Team Neo Snagem. He dropped the Yumi doll he was holding, letting her fall back to the cold, hard stage ground.
"Chikorita, Energy Ball!" Seth proved that characteristic right when he wasted no time calling for the first strike.
Chikorita did not question Seth's impulsive command. "Ha!" She inhaled, and then shot a ball of green energy at the enemy.
The boy couldn't help but grin. He swiftly dodged Seth's attempted assault, His teeth could be seen slightly as the Energy Ball collided with the ceiling above.
A gaping hole was created where Energy Ball hit. Debris fell, and Twilight & Espurr had to move out of the way to avoid being hit.
Before Chikorita had the time to react, a grinning 17 was a fast as lightning in his pursuit of her.
"Chi!" Chikorita was stricken by one of 17's tentacles, and was sent sliding backwards.
Seth looked back to Chikorita, hoping she wouldn't be done with one hit. "Chikorita?"
"I…" Chikorita was quivering as she slowly rose to her feet, "I-I'm fine…"
Seth didn't answer Chikorita further. Instead, Seth turned back to Commander 17, who greeted him with a chuckle. "I hope you don't believe a little Chikorita is all it'll take to defeat me."
Twilight watched on as Seth replied to 17, "It is you who underestimates me by jumping to that conclusion so quickly."
"Oh really? I'd like to see you try and kill me in my own dream world!" 17 was anxious. He was actually cheering for Seth to fight him!
And Seth was more than willing to accommodate.
…It was not expected of him to do what he did next so soon, but he did it. He closed his eyes, and as he did, he began to glow a dark aura.
"Hm?" Twilight said confused. She took a step back in the wake of what was happening to Seth.
Twilight was a disciple of Heaven-a disciple of light itself. She felt Seth's darkness alienating, and at the same time, she felt her own power weakening a little.
"Who IS he?" Twilight asked herself.
"Father Seth."
"What?" Twilight looked down to Espurr. Seth too? Not only did Espurr know Yumi in her previous life, but she also knew Seth? Twilight was astounded. "You know him?"
Espurr nodded, "Depsite spending my entire previous life with him, I had no knowledge of this dark power he has…"
Everyone watched as Seth opened his eyes, one of which was now dark purple in color.
Fear smirked, "Hmph. It seems I'm becoming popular with Seth these days. Me being summoned two battle in a row? A new record. Now!" Fear sharply looked at 17. Although 17 wasn't intimidated, Fear's gazed was a cold a Medusa's herself: STONE cold. He took out a Pokeball shrouded in dark mist, and just before he threw it, he said to 17, "Fool. I take it you're offering your life to me. It's not like anyone will care if you're dead."
The Pokeball of darkness opened, and out of it came…
"Laarrr!" Larvitar?
Fear's decision to go with Larvitar was as sudden as Seth's decision to catch him in the tournament's opening match in the first place.
Commander 27 stared at Larvitar, who began to glow the aura of darkness that only came with Shadow Pokemon.
"My newest weapon." Fear was as eager to kill as ever.
"I see my tournament had benefitted you as far as 'new gains' are concerned," 17 said, "While I'm fighting this Larvitar, why not take his LIFE FORCE!" Excited, 17 sent two of his tentacles straight at Larvitar.
Fear closed his eyes with confidence. There was no need to command Larvitar when he was going to follow his instincts anyway.
Larvitar hopped onto one of the incoming tentacles and used it as leverage to avoid the other by jumping up again.
"Larvitar!" Larvitar landed on the stage ground having completely avoid 17's initial attacks.
As Fear called Lavitar's name, the darkness in his left eye grew stronger, "Use Stone Edge!"
"Lar…"
This Stone Edge was not ordinary. Larvitar complied, and as soon as he struck the ground with his shadow-covered fist, everyone saw exactly why.
"W-Woah!" The ground started shaking, and Twilight had to keep her balance.
Fear stood calmly…
Emerging from the quaking stage ground was a single stone pillar. It was tall, and it was only the first among a string of stone pillars to come.
The second stone pillar to appear was taller than the first, and the third pillar to appear was taller than the second. The fourth pillar to appear was taller than the third, and so on. The Stone Edge was making its escalating stair-like path toward Commander 17.
Commander 17 had to maneuver his way around the first pillar that was in range to strike him.
"Hm?" Where he landed, the second pillar within range began to rise. 17 bothered not to avoid this one, but instead remain on top of it as it roe to the hole in the roof created by Chikorita's Energy Ball.
As soon as the stone pillar was set, 17 used his tentacles to jump past the hole, landing on top of the Grande Opera House's roof on the outside.
The mysterious boy looked down to what remained of the Grande Opera House's stage. Most of the floor was completely destroyed by the emergence of the stone pillars. The life forces of the six defeated all hovered around 17 as he said, "My stage…it's gone…"
Lavitar sneered.
Chikorita remained wordless as she stared past the hole and at a 17 standing under the light tel sky of his dream world. An armored Unfezant flew in the distant background.
"That Larvitar' impressive…I wonder." 17 whispered to himself, and nobody could make out what he could possibly be saying. He then spoke up to both Seth and Twilight, "Why don't you two come up for a fair fight? The weather's fine!"
Fear was way ahead of 17, as he was climbing the makeshift staircase made by Stone Edge.
"H-Hey! Wait up!" Chikorita was the first to follow the Fear who wasn't the Seth she knew and loved. Larvitar was close behind.
That left Twilight and Espurr…
Twilight wordlessly walked toward the shortest pillar Espurr walking in front of her.
Twilight stared at a Fear making his way outside.
"We should help Father Seth, you know?" Espurr questioned as she floated on top of the first stone using her psychic gravity power.
Twilight knew very well what she had to do. She stared back down at the lifeless dolls on the floor. She picked up the doll of Yumi that had been dropped by Seth.
In this dream, to fight was to save a handful of lives. To fight was to prevent the spread of darkness, and to promote the light of the Heavens. Twilight had not a clue who or what Team Neo Snagem was. Nevertheless, her reasons for fighting Commander 17 were enough of a drive.
"You're right," Twilight said.
And so Twilight closed her eyes and spread her arms, and as she did, she began to glow the same gravitational aura as Espurr. It was ONLY ESPURR manipulating the gravity around them, and they both began to float.
Above each and every stone pillar of a step, Twilight and Espurr made their way to, and past the gaping hole and into the outside-Commander 17's borderline military run, futuristic city of a dream world awaited.
Twilight couldn't help but stare out into the rest of the city surrounding her. She had been outside the Opera House earlier, s for a city to have her in a state of awe twice was very impressive.
Twilight landed softly on the roof.
"Larvitar, let's go!" Fear was anxious. So anxious, that he poured intensity into his battle cry.
The aura surrounding Larvitar metaphorically coo'd as Larvitar ran toward 17 using Shadow Rush.
17's eyes glinted as Larvitar closed in. Without the confines of battling indoors, 17 was at an advantage-a bigger advantage than before. Now the virus infected Commander could move as he please.
17 charged at Larvitar while cloaked in a shadow aura, his tentacles boosting him every inch of the way.
Fear and Larvitar were both prepared for a head to head clash. That was…
"Ha!"
"Wha?" Larvitar lost his concentration, and his eyes grew wide as 17 suddenly jumped into the air.
Hovering right over Larvitar, 17 grinned as he head-butted the green rock type! This had Larvitar forced to the roof/ground with the intensity of a ground pound, and a cloud of smoke was created as a result.
As the cloud of smoke was clearing, 17 used his tentacles to swiftly pull back.
This fight was far from over, for as the smoke cleared completely, Larvitar was standing up. He was almost completely unharmed as he stared at 17.
Fear was becoming hungry with his instinct to kill. He was ready to rush toward the conclusion of things as he threw his hand to the side and commanded, "Hyper Beam!"
This was it. Already, it was time for Larvitar's ace in the hole.
It took a second, but Larvitar inhaled deeply.
"Taaarrr!" Larvitar fired away at full power, launching the black beam right at 17.
How would 17 respond with such a tight window of reaction time? Simple: 17 elected to take the attack. He lifted one of his black tentacles, holding it in front of him to take the Hyper Beam.
Larvitar didn't let up though.
"You underestimate Larvitar's power…" Fear narrowed his eyes, for he knew 17 couldn't repel Hyper Beam much longer.
One…
Two…
Three…
"Gyaahhh!" The Hyper Beam began to sting. 17 let out a yelp as he pulled his tentacle back.
A big mistake.
Doing this cleared the path of Hyper Beam. The mysterious Commander of a boy gaped. "GAAAHHH!" The power of the beam was overwhelming. 17 found himself trying to stand his ground using his other tentacles. He was only delaying the inevitable: Being overwhelmed by Hyper Beam.
Overwhelmed by Hyper Beam is exactly what happened to 17, "Nooo!" He screamed as he was starting to lose resistance. He was getting pushed back slowly but surely until…
"It's over…" Fear shined with a confidence that typically came with victory as 17 finally lost ground completely.
17 was knocked into the air, allowing Hyper Beam to finish its full course as it pushed 17 over the edge of the Grande Opera House.
All that was left was to hear the Neo Snagem Commander scream end abruptly as he fell to the ground of his own city.
The battle was presumably over, with Fear coming out as the victor.
Chikorita was the first to speak. "Did we win?"
Twilight approached Fear, but not without caution. "If we won, we would've woken up by now." She answered Chikorita.
"And 17 still has everyone's life forces." Espurr added.
Espurr was correct. The Commander had the six life forces when he fell down.
It that was the case, then what was next for Fear and everyone?
Well, this would be partially answered. What at least happened to Fear was his left eye reverting back to its normal deep blue color. The sinister furrow on his face disappeared. With his facial expression typically indifferent now, the dark aura surrounding him dissipated.
"Fear's instinct to kill has been satisfied…for now." Fear was no longer Fear. Fear had reverted back to Seth.
"Father Seth…" The eyes of Espurr remained wide as she looked up and addressed her former 'Father' for the very first time.
"Seth!" But before Seth could speak to Espurr, he was greeted by an elated Chikorita. Chikorita ran up to her trainer and jumped on his shoulder, "I'm glad you're back!" Chikorita chuckled as she nuzzled Seth.
The Shadow Larvitar quietly walked to the edge of the roof while everybody was preoccupied. Apparently, Seth can remain in his normal form without Larvitar getting out of control, unlike Seth's other Shadow Pokemon in Klefki and Seviper.
"Just as bubbly as ever, Sister," The lilac feline said to Chikorita.
Anybody BUT Seth proceeded to the formalities, reuniting with Espurr and all. Seth just let it be though, as he and Chikorita simply stared at the feline.
"This dream will end soon," Seth said, "This might be the last time we speak to each other."
"If that's the case, we can savor our final battle together." Twilight replied with a smile. She kept her eyes on Seth, and she was hoping he would agree by giving a smile of his own, but no luck. Twilight's smile was replaced by a look of concern as she asked, "Is something the matter?"
Twilight thought to herself that Yumi MUST'VE known Seth if Espurr addressed them as 'Mother' and 'Father' respectively. She thought Seth would be somewhat cheery, like Yumi and Chikorita. And MAN DID she think wrong about Seth being cheery.
"Don't worry," Chikorita smiled, "We've all been trying to get Seth to smile forever now. He's always so indifferent though."
Twilight chuckled, "Sound a lot like Sue…"
"What was that?" Chikorita asked.
"Oh, it's nothing." Sue-short for Amaterasu-made a cameo when Twilight battle Terra…
Twilight was often the one to carry a conversation whenever interacting with an introvert. She was strong and had the qualities of a leader, so she wasn't at all put off by Seth's serious demeanor.
Chikorita sighed, starting to grow impatient, "I'm sick of waiting around here. I'm ready to wake up now-na na na…"
Why did Chikorita not finish her sentence? She was still on Seth's shoulder, but she began to quiver. Why? Why was Chikorita sudden as frozen as an old photograph?
"Ahahah…eeehhh…." Chikorita gaped.
"Chikorita?" Seth called as he looked at Chikorita, "What's with you?"
For Seth, his concern was only ever reserved for a select few, Chikorita being one of those few. In fact, Seth actually beating Twilight and Espurr to asking Chikorita 'what's wrong' could be an anomaly.
"I…I…" Under normal circumstances-circumstances that were menial and happened every day, Chikorita would be flattered by Seth being so punctual with his concern. This wasn't an everyday circumstance though, and because of that, Chikorita left Seth's question unanswered.
"Chikorita fears what's about to come." So Espurr answered for Chikorita. Her answer was not at all straightforward though.
Chikorita's eyes remained plastered on an armored Unfezant flying down from the sky. The Unfezant was one of the many pokemon patrolling this dream world.
"Kaw!" Chikorita flinched as Unfezant was incoming. For once, flinching was a less common reaction than no reaction at all. Seth, Twilight, and Espurr all remained calm as the armored Unfezant flew by. "Kaw!"
"Lar…" Larvitar didn't flinch either. Instead, he was still standing on the building's edge. He was staring at the city below. This was where the Unfezant flew as it raced by the Shadow Larvitar.
Twilight was the only one to run up to the edge to accompany Larvitar, and what she saw was a small glint of Unfezants armor shining in her direction. The Unfezant was AWAY from the group.
…
And then the Unfezant was flying TO the group.
The Unfezant looked slight different…
Twilight had to squint her eyes to make out what was so different about the flying type.
The armored bird was carrying something…
…someone…
…Commander 17!
"If at any moment you thought this fight was over, you are sorely mistaken!"
17 jumped from the armored Unfezant. He gained air that far exceeded the height of the Grande Opera House. The armored bird was all but forgotten as it patrolled the city.
They watched and waited for 17 to land, but a few seconds in the air is a long time.
There was a gap between where Chikorita, Seth, & Espurr were standing, and where Larvitar & Twilight were stood on the roof's edge. That gap was all 17 needed to land.
"'17!" Chikorita cried out the obvious.
Dust was kicked where 17 landed. The dust was so light that it could pass for transparent.
Seth, Twilight, and Espurr all readied themselves, while Chikorita took a defensive stance. Everybody was so ready to do something along the line of 'instant retaliation'.
"Lar?" Larvitar cried confused before leering at the Commander whose attention was on him, "If you've got something you wanna say to me, say it!"
Thought it was yet to be showcased until this point, Larvitar had a very provocative streak in him. Commander 17 couldv'e opened his mouth to respond to Larvitar at any time, but he instead opted to go for a more 'physical response'.
"Hn…" 17 chuckled in a sinister manner. The physical response, the Commander didn't use his tentacles for. Instead, he used his regular human hands.
"Huh?" Chikorita watched in wonder as 17 reached inside the lone pocket located right on his chest.
Seth observed as 17 pulled from that pocket, a single Pokeball, and he held it in the air.
"You want to battle?" Espurr asked.
"Hmhmhmhmhmhmh!" 17 allowed more chuckling to escape him, "Just wait for it! I'll be amused by the looks on your faces once you see it!"
"Show us what's in the Pokeball or I'll crush your mind right now." Seth wanted none of 17's attempt to amuse himself. Seth began to glow the dark aura of Fear again as he threatened the Commander.
Seth didn't have to wait long though.
What 17 was waiting for…He held the Pokeball to the sky. Naturally, when wearing a long sleeved piece of clothing, physics say the sleeve should fall down while the arm is in the air, and that's exactly what happened.
17's arm was revealed.
Seth's eyes went wide.
"What is that thing?" Twilight asked confused.
It was a particular, red colored device that 17 was wearing on his arm.
17 eyed Larvitar.
"A Snag Machine!"
Chikorita was panicking, and even Seth lost his cool upon seeing this. 17 wordlessly be known that Larvitar was his target, and Seth knew this. He tried to reach for his own Pokeball, and actually grabbed it, but it was too late.
Using the Snag Machine, 17 fired a 'Dilfer's Dime' of a Pokeball at Larvitar.
Larvitar tensed up as the Pokeball hit him, and as it did, the Pokeball opened. It was like some sort of claw reached out and grabbed Larvitar, forcing him inside the Pokeball.
Everyone stood in shock, watching as the Pokeball fell to the ground. The Pokeball rolled.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
Click…
…And just like that, the Shadow Pokemon no longer belonged to Seth. Their relationship was over before it ever really began. Larvitar was snagged.
Seth was wordless, Chikorita too. A Pokeball he thought contained a pokemon was actually meant to capture HIS pokemon. Seth was always sharp and intelligent. But now…his assumption and the poorest of judgement has cost him big. However, his mind was sharp enough to react quickly to the events. Seth quickly ran, hoping to beat 17 to the pokeball that just clicked shut.
Commander 17 was intuitive, as he beat Seth to the Pokeball using his tentacle.
Seth stopped running, and 17 took it upon him to try and strike Seth using another tentacle. Seth was perceptive though, as he quickly dodged 17's attempted attack.
Seth watched as 17 held that same Pokeball up once more. "Hnhmhmhm. Hahahaha! It's mine! I just caught a Larvitar!" The Commander was mocking Seth, celebrating his capture of Larvitar like a 10 year old would celebrate the capture of his first Caterpie.
Seth leered.
"You know what? I think I'll give myself the satisfaction of using Larvitar immediately!" 17 started, "But with a surprise twist1'
17 threw the Pokeball into the air, and out came Larvitar.
"Tar!" The Shadow Larvitar quickly focused on Seth. For a pokemon just recently snagged, Larvitar seemed not at all confused. 17 snagged Larvitar from Seth…who snagged Larvitar from 24…who 'technically' snagged Larvitar from Cassidy, who probably snagged Larvitar from someone else!
"Here's the twist!"
At the snap of 17's fingers, the six life forces of the defeated were absorbed by the Commander like some sort of magnet.
The Commander started glowing, and as he did, Larvitar ALSO started to glow!
"In my dream world, what I say goes. Including…" 17 snickered. "…Evolution."
Larvitar was evolving, and at 17's direction. It was as if 17 was the 'producer', and it was Larvitar's cue to reveal to Seth and Twilight his full power!
17's snickering turned into laughing. He was laughing out loud with much energy-so much energy, in fact, that his voice echoed throughout the city.
As Larvitar's power grew, 17's power grew as well. Having absorbed six life forces, his power was so great, he was probably in the league of Commander 10 or Lady Beatrice now. The energy caused for this dream world to start shaking, like an earthquake.
"Er…" Seth braced himself to stand his ground, as did Chikorita.
Twilight kept an eye on the growing Larvitar as he continued to evolve. She expected a Pupitar, but no… This evolution was greater than she anticipated, as the Shadow Pokemon grew bigger and bigger. "What's going on?!" Twilight asked.
"The climax." Despite everything, Espurr remained calm as she summed up the entire situation that was to come.
On this climax, the Shadow Larvitar stopped evolving, and when he stopped glowing, he had turned into a towering Tyranitar.
"What now?" Seth wondered out loud. Did he not hear Espurr mention the climax?
As 17 continued to glow, he answered, "Your life force, I'm going to take it now!"
24, Dustin, 10, Yumi, Chapel, and Terra…There were the life forces absorbed by 17, and they were all energizing him a surge of power like a battery. His tentacles grew bigger and longer, like the sleek, devastating vines of a Frenzy Plant attack. He wasted no time working with Tyranitar.
As the Commander readied himself, Tyranitar's dark aura began spreading…along with sand that began to pick up.
It was a Sandstorm, and Seth and the others were caught in the middle of it. Seth's black hair and blonde bangs were blowing all over his face, as well as Twilight's light amethyst hair blowing over hers.
The sand and the wind were so intense, Seth found himself desperately trying to stand his ground. On top of the Grande Opera House, being blowing away from Sandstorm was not an option…Or was it?
Despite great effort, Twilight felt herself being blown back by not even a quarter of an inch. She was able to regain her composure and resist, however…
Espurr was forcibly lifted from the ground. Concern for her wellbeing was enough to put Twilight in a state of panic. Yep, the first time Twilight's lost her cool, and all as she looked back at an Espurr being blown away. "Espurr!" She called out.
The feline remained wide eyed, but that didn't mean she wasn't concerned for Twilight.
"W-Woah! Oh no!" Damn it! It was because Twilight's worry for Espurr that now SHE was being picked up by the wind.
They were headed right off the edge of the Grande Opera House!
"Ack! Ah!" Next was Chikorita!
Seth was quick to react as he immediately reached out to Chikorita.
Good news, Seth was able to save Chikorita, pulling her in and holding her tight. Bad news? Now Seth HIMSELF was being picked up and blown away by the sandy wind.
Having Seth simply get blown away was not enough for Commander 17 though. What 17 wanted, was to strike down his enemy with authority.
"…When you're dead, tell me what Hell is like. I'm sure Rui will have a spare pen for you!" 17 remarked as he sent his tentacles to strike Seth.
And there it was, the finishing blow. Seth and Twilight were now freefalling from the clouds of the dream world and into oblivion.
Won't be long before 17 goes down there to collect there life forces…
To Be Continued…
Author's Note: Don't worry, Squirtoise. I said I like to try new ideas to keep my writing fresh, and that's what happened to Larvitar. Reason? Pupitar is a pokemon I find difficult to write on, on the account that he has no arms or legs. This is another case where I try to 'challenge the rules of the Pokemon Universe' by bypassing an evolution stage. And here's the thing that may be underappreciated about this story: VIRUS VERSION KNOWS WHAT IT IS! It's NOT supposed to be realistic. It's a Fantasy! POKEMON IS A FANTASY!
Meanwhile! If you guys can't tell, I've kind of become 'burned out' during this chapter. And the thing is, there's still one more chapter left to post in this arc. That's okay though, because I promise a character driven chapter after this arc, so I can get my spirits up.
I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT, that's the chapter after this arc with be Yumi & Seth with a more comedic twist, though it'll tie in with the last major arc in Mahogany Town, where she'll be unexpectedly critical for Seth's success. Sadly, this chapter won't be until 2017. But hey! I think you guys will enjoy WeS RoYaL after a 2 month break! I've had a few other stretches where I didn't post chapters, but those weren't the same, because I was writing arcs that were ultimately scrapped after thousands of words had already been written because...wait for...I wanted to avoid Writer's Block. Fear not though. For THIS two month break, I'll be in the Navy and COMPLETELY UNABLE to write Fanfiction AT ALL. This will do me some good, because after this 'vacation' I'll be recharged and ready to write. Look forward to a ReNewed WeS RoYaL!
