Pokemon Virus Version Chapter 112:An Easter Egg, Then Two Pokemon Eggs

Location: Mahogany Town Pokemon Center

Seth's POV

"Maaaawwww…maaaawwww…" I will admit, I found it weird that Mawile enjoyed the fact that I was caring for her, and maybe even pampering. She savoured the bubble bath I was giving her to tend to the burns given to her by the dry ice in our Gym battle.

I was grateful to Mawile for not holding that Gym Battle against me. She certainly added to what was probably the most lighthearted morning I've had in a long time.

"Maw Mawile mawile." Mawile was trying to talk to me, and I couldn't understand a single word as I put the bath brush away.

We were in a room specially designed for grooming pokemon. I never bothered to come in here because there simply was no reason, on top of the room having been crowded when all the Coordinators were here.

Mawile remained in the water, while Chikorita followed me to the bandages that were a few feet away.

"Chicori." Chikorita was awake and certainly alive right now. Nurse Joy had a late night last night, but was finally able to heal Chikorita after dealing with Mawile.

Chikorita watched as I spend a couple of minutes wrapping the bandages around Mawile's torso. "That should just about do it. Are you satisfied?" I asked Mawile.

I could answer my own question. Right now, I AM actually satisfied with the progress I've made since my last battle. I mean, while the damage was my own doing, I am LEGITAMATELY giving my own pokemon first aid, like a Pokemon Breeder. I never thought about it until recently, but if I could ascertain knowledge of how to tend to my own pokemon, there wouldn't be as much urgency finding berries or getting to the Pokemon Center when my pokemon are exhausted.

…That gave me an idea.

"Come on." I called Chikorita and Mawile as I started walking, "We'll go to the room to get some money, and then we'll head into town to buy a book on First Aid."

There may be more than one way to get more powerful after all…

All I needed was to go into the room to get money. I rarely had a need to buy anything, so I expected there to be no problem. What I ran into though…

All I can say is: What curiosity…

I opened the door, and the first thing I saw was…

"Huh?" My eyes were wide open, and my mouth hung slightly open.

"Huh?" What I saw, was an adventure…

"Yumi?" I was at a loss of words.

"Seth?" As was Yumi.

That Yumi, we did nothing but stare at each other wordlessly. Ugh, It was awkward! She stood IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM; Black bra, pink panties, and black pantyhose. She was practically naked.

I know I barely have a heart, but there's limits to this stuff. I mean, an almost-naked girl just standing there, staring right at you? Arceus, I know it was over 100 chapters ago, but I told Yumi something like this would happen if we shared a room.

I've heard that my age is around the time normal guys fantasize about his kind of stuff. They laugh in such merriment. But me?

I took a deep breath, and attempted to settle the awkwardness. I stared at Yumi, and calmly said to her, "Hello?"

Yumi was just as exasperated as I was. Once the shock worked its ways through her system, "YOU PERVERT! GET OUT!"

Chikorita hurriedly got on my shoulder and used her leaf to close the door. She and Mawile were blushing heavily. I wasn't blushing, but me, Mawile and Chikorita all exchanged looks with each other. We all understood: We never EVER speak of this.

I have made a revolutionary discovery: The female anatomy.

Ahh, Spring…

Yesterday, the winter's last wave came and went in the form of a murky fog. The winter was filled with its with its ups and downs. The town had succumbed to the paranoia that came with the thought of Mahogany Town suffering the same fate as Ecruteak City, and the gloomy weather only added to the depressing atmosphere. Just when the worst of it was over, a funeral was held in observance of the late Pryce-Mahogany Town's former Gym Leader. The worst part is, the speculation as to what happened to Pryce continues…

Yesterday was winter, but today, it's spring. A brand new day in a brand new season HAS to come with brand new atmosphere. The snow has melted, along with the cold gloominess weighing on the heavy hearts of many. Only Icy Path and the mountains surrounding it remained in a frozen, wintery state, but that's typical.

Adding to the Spring environment, was the abundance of people traversing about, smiles on their faces. Losing Pryce still weighed heavily on their hearts, but now they were beginning to accept Pryce being in a better place now. These people savored the lavish green grass, and the smell of fresh plants.

Ice Pokemon such as Snover, Sneasel, Vanillite, and Beartic no longer decorated Lake of Rage. Pokemon such as Petilil, Whimsicott, Castform, Cherrim, and Mareep all wandered Mahogany's northern outskirts. While Magikarp, Gyarados, and Lumineon were in the previously-frozen Lake itself.

Yep. All was peaceful in Mahogany Town…Except in the area of Mainstreet.

"I don't remember giving everyone permission to smile."

Mahogany Town's Main Street featured many local vendors; MOST of them operating temporarily, or seasonal, commemorating the arrival of yet another Spring by selling all things colorful, such as vivid home décor, spring dresses, incents, and pokemon plushes.

"THE KING HAS NOT PERMITTED SMILING, FOLKS!" And here to spoil everything, was local mafia leader, Ghandi; The most powerful man in Mahogany Town.

Ghandi wasn't PURE evil, but he was close to it. A wanna-be world conquerer, he was not. A bully who abused his power because he was beyond the law? Absolutely! Ghandi was rather tall and burly. His blonde hair and blue eyes would attract the ladies like flies, if he wasn't such a jerk. He also wore a black suit and tie.

Ghandi really wasn't bothered by the fact that the town was cheery. In fact, the only reason why he was calling out all the folks was to get fear as a reaction. He would walk up to every vendor, and every clerk would take a step back. The people of Mahogany weren't quick to fight, and apparently, Ghandi took advantage of that mold.

"It is I: Ghandi, the leader of The Mafia!" He got such a pleasure in causing inconveniences for everyone. He knocked the Pokemon plushes off the shelves, threw the spring dresses on the ground, and destroyed the incents on various stands. Walking past the vendor featuring home décor, he was just honest and straight forward, "That junk is useless. Why would anyone want to buy? All it does is waste space."

What were the people to do? Ghandi had backup he could call at any time…including the lone Pokeball he had around his waist. As he made his way down Mainstreet, he took the Pokeball from his waist and started fidgeting it. His path of destruction wasn't finished yet.

"This is the worst shop yet." Ghandi stopped right in front of NOT a vendor, but an ACTUAL shop, which included its own building, in which business was conducted inside. It was a flower shop called 'Renewed: Life's Flowers', and it featured a Lilligant standee outside, the cardboard Lilligant extending its arm, point toward the entrance. "Why do you sell flowers in a crap town like this? All they do is die once winter comes around again."

Cherubi knickknacks, Sunflora seeds, Lotad sprinklers, you name it. Renewed had anything and everything flower themed. These pokemon were all based on real pokemon who helped around the shop. Cherubi was using Sweet Scent to provide adequate smell, while Sunflora was lifting Lotad to water the Petilil who needed nourishment.

"Lil…" Lilligant stood right beside her owner, who was on standby as Ghandi approached her.

"Get out! I've had it with you causing trouble everytime you come around here!" The green haired woman yelled.

The pokemon all looked at the woman, and they weren't shocked. Renewed has been one of a few 'particular' targets Ghandi likes to strike the most. Since last time, the pokemon all gathered around as the woman finally decided to stand up to Ghandi.

"Do you realize who you're talking to?" Ghandi took one a step closer to the woman, which caused Lilligant to do the same as she hid behind her trainer's leg. "You DO realize that with my pal in this Pokeball here, I can burn down this shop and every flower in it, INCLUDING pokemon like that cowardly Lilligant who doesn't have the guts to stand up to me." He glared at Lilligant with a smirk. Lilligant shook. She wasn't scared of Ghandi. She was scared of his 'pal'. Lilligant wanted to teach Ghandi a lesson as much as anyone else.

Hearing Ghandi threaten all of the pokemon prompted the woman to come out of her shell a bit. In the defense of her pokemon, she finally had the guts to tell Ghandi what was on her mind, "Don't you dare threaten my pokemon again!" She took one of her shrub trimmers and held it in her defense. She was passionate, and ready to defend her pokemon, and her shop. "Talking about my pokemon is where you cross the line! You will NOT burn down my flower shop because I WILL NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN. Hit me with your best shot! I swear I will make you regret it!"

Ghandi wasn't convinced, "Can you? Here's my prediction: I will go on the offensive, and you will fail. And since you can't learn to keep you mouth shut, I'll do you a favor and burn down your precious little flower shop right now!"

Ghandi stopped fidgeting with his pokeball and threw it into the air. Out came his 'pal'; A fire type pokemon with what could be described as 'cannons at the ends of its arms'. The attention of everyone on Mainstreet was grabbed by Ghandi ACTUALLY going through with his threat as the Magmortar landed on the ground…including…

Chapel's POV

This morning, Rose, Piplup and I were casually passing by Main Street, on our way to the local pharmacy for pokemon medicine and what not. From what I heard, this pharmacy wasn't REALLY a 'pharmacy', just a local shop to serve as the PokeMart Mahogany Town doesn't have.

We were all enjoying the change in scenery. Rose basked in the atmosphere that came with seeing green grass for the first time in so long. Piplup was a curious one, hopping up on a shelf to get a closer look at one of the Pokemon plush dolls that were on sale, to which owner found 'very cute'.

"Chime!" I had let Chime, my first pokemon and childhood friend, outside of its Pokeball. Chime and I were just enjoying each other's company.

Yep, all was well on this morning. Until…

"-I'll do you a favor and burn down your precious flower shop right now!"

"What?" I stopped.

"Chime?" Chime asked me what was the matter.

"Someone said something about burning down a flower shop." I replied.

"It comes from there." Rose, very ladylike, found it inappropriate to point in public, so all she did was turn her head in the correct direction. "It IS a flower shop! Maybe we can buy some flowers, like roses."

Rose is very intelligent. However, during this moment, her intelligence was downplayed in favor of innocence; the innocence that could only emanate from a girl as young as she is. The five year old in Rose had her rushing to the flower shop with excitement.

"R-Rose, wait!" For once, it was me telling Rose to wait for me. Usually, it was the other way around. "Wait for me!"

Of course, even if Rose had not rushed to the flower shop, I would have entered anyway. It is my goal to save the world, and one the way, every smaller goal achieved brings me one step closer.

"Piplup."

"Chime." Piplup and Chime both remained by my side as they came with me.

We passed by a sign featuring a Lilligant standee. The sign read 'Renewed: Life's Flower's'. Renewed…That was the name of the shop.

Rose stood right in front of me, and our gazes both focused on a common scene. There was a woman, her Sunflora, Cherubi, Lotad, and Lilligant. The look on their faces said to me that the man conversing with them was not friendly.

"If there's anything you need help with ma'am, Pokemon Ranger Chapel and Rose The Maiden are here to assist!" I was eager and ready to enter heroine Chapel!

"If this man is causing any trouble for you, allow us to liberate him." Rose The Maiden, my partner in crime, had a much more elegant edge compared to me.

"A couple of little girls and their pokemon, eh?" The blonde haired, blue eyed man didn't even bother to turn around and face us. He just put his head down, closed his eyes, and calmly remarked, "Go away. You wouldn't want to end up in a casualty for something that isn't even your business."

"So sue me for being aultruistic, hun." I sassed the man.

"You underestimate us greatly," Rose said.

"We're MAKING this situation our business. And do you know why?" I waited for this guy to reply, but no. "We don't EVER need a reason to come to someone's aid. "Saving the world starts with beating jerks like you." I readied a Pokeball.

This man had his back toward us, but he undoubtedly heard the sound of me taking a Pokeball out. "Those are fighting words. Then I suppose you wish to punish me?" The man slowly turned around, and as he did, we saw that he also had a Pokeball in his hand. "Upon first glance, I'd say you'd end up being a damsel in distress someday…But the clothes your wearing says otherwise. You're a Pokemon Ranger, aren't you?"

"So what if I am?"

"Being a Pokemon Ranger signifies that you must be powerful, in your own right. If that is the case, then I, Ghandi, Leader of the Mafia, will have no qualms about not holding back on you!"

The man threw his Pokeball, revealing a pokemon that took Rose and I by surprise.

"Mag…" This pokemon was a fairly large Fire type, and it had what looked to be cannons at the ends of its arms.

"A Magmortar." Rose said out loud. "Chapel, this Pokemon is at a high level."

"That sound too easy!" I remarked. Rose made no comment. I may have sounded sarcastic, but I really did intend on making this bout look easy. With Chime here, I'll defeat Magmortar AND save the flower shop. "Give me one move, and I'll have 'em beat!"

"Your blind faith will make you pay dearly." The man who introduced himself as Ghandi said, "Magmortar, destroy that Pokemon Ranger and this shop. Let's start with Rock Tomb."

The woman's eyes widened. "No, you can't"

She couldn't believe that this man was ACTUALLY going through with his threat. That meant there was no turning back for him now.

"Mag!" The rock prepared by Magmortar using the ends of its arms was big. The fact that a Magmortar could produce something so destructive at any point in time would be intimidating…If Rose and I didn't know what we were doing. "Mortar!" Magmortar launched the Rock Tomb, and it was headed straight for a Rose still standing right in front of me.

Rose didn't even blink.

"Chime?" The Chimecho looked at me, and I looked at him. "Use Psychic." We nodded in agreement.

"Chime chiiiimmmmeeee…" Chimecho closed its eyes as it began to focus, and as it did, the launched rock froze in midair, and was surrounded by a light blue aura.

"What?!" Ghandi was caught off guard.

This was the first time Chime has used a move other than Heal Pulse.

An attack being intercepted by the power of Psychic was nothing too foreign for the average pokemon trainer. Ghandi was as aware as ANY trainer, and he knew all too well what was going to happen next.

Magmortar is at a high level. I wonder if it has ever taken one of its own high level attacks?

"Chime!" After intercepting, Chime decided to take the rock all the way back to the house. It's a pick 6! In other words, Rock Tomb was sent right back at Magmortar, striking the Fire type with Super Effective impact.

"Magmortar!" Ghandi called.

"Mag…" That Magmortar WAS at a high level. Rock Tomb was so powerful, it sent the Fire type to the ground with just a single hit. Magmortar didn't move. "Ma…"

"The Pokemon Ranger…she won?" The flower shop owner was surprised, and left speechless. "I've never seen Ghandi's Magmortar lose before…"

"How do you like a taste of your own medicine?!" I teased Magmortar and Ghandi.

"Magmortar is unable to do battle." Rose said, "Honestly though, this was never a battle to begin with. I call it a one-sided one shot. From what I gathered you like to push using brute force and intimidation. I would not be surprised if you lacked any sort of substance needed to become a decent trainer. You never stood a chance…Ghandi."

Ghandi gritted his teeth. It was hard to tell whether her was more annoyed with Magmortar being defeated, or Rose's brutally honest criticism. He didn't bother to recall his Magmortar. Instead, he went right on the attack, running at Rose. "Little girl! How dare you disregard Ghandi, leader of the Mafia! I'm not above teach little brats like you a lesson for running your mouth."

Rose was ready. "You are proving me to be undoubtedly correct, about my criticism, AND about you underestimating us." Rose took out a single pokemon. She was prepared to give Ghandi a Nightmare, "A girl and her favorite doll will finish you."

Rose tossed the Pokeball, and out came the Mime Jr doll that was covered in blood stains. It's head was almost completely ripped off, and stuffing was finding its way out. As soon as the broken Mime Jr doll landed on the floor, it transformed into the Banette we all knew. I'm still impressed with Banette's unique entrance.

Ghandi was startled by the appearance of the evil doll. He didn't say it, but he was frightened. He was so frightened, he stopped in his tracks.

Yes, Banette was terrifying.

As Banette saw Ghandi, she immediately sprung into action. "Don't you dare lay a finger on my Rose!" Rose giving Ghandi a nightmare was just another way of saying Banette was going to trap Ghandi in a very bad dream. Banette started emanating the aura of Night Shade, and she directed it right at Ghandi.

There was nowhere Ghandi could run. Me, Rose, and all of our pokemon were standing at the entrance of the flower shop. Banette's power surrounded him. He attempted to fight Night Shade, but it was no use.

"AAAHHH!"

"I am not like Brother; I DO have the compassion to spare the life of someone as unpleasant as you, Ghandi." Rose started, "However, disturbing the peace and harming innocent people should not go unpunished. I will not place your life in any sort of jeopardy. Instead, you will get to experience the pain you have caused these people. You will not wake from Night Shade until you are a changed man."

"Nighty night, sweetie!" I couldn't help waving at Ghandi as his eyes became heavy. Despite his attitude, I'll admit; he's easy on the eyes. It almost makes me wish he wouldn't have to fall asleep. Oh well.

Ghandi's eyes closed shut, and just like that, the conflict had been resolved.

"H-he's defeated…" The woman whispered. Her facial expression was a mix of surprise and relief.

"Ghandi's defeated?"

"Huh?!" I was startled.

The 'parroting' of what the flower shop owner just said came from right behind me. I turned around to see an elderly couple, along with a young boy who looked to be around Rose's age.

"You seem a little jumpy there, little lady," The elderly man was smiling. I guess he was at the age where he no longer cared about the negative things people thought about him. He was just enjoying life.

"I didn't know anyone was behind me." I rubbed the back of my head and smiled back.

"Look Grandpa! Ghandi really IS defeated!" The young boy was just as jovial as the elderly man. "Hahaha!" He certainly had that 'little boy' energy. He wasted no time racing past Rose and I, and getting a closer look at Ghandi and his Magmortar.

"Now now, Sora. Calm down," The elderly woman said.

So the little boy's name is Sora…

"Listen to your Grandmother, son." The flower shop owner said.

"Ah, mom. Aren't YOU happy Ghandi's been defeated?" Sora asked.

The woman gave her son a chuckle and smiled.

"I don't get it," I said, "So, is Ghandi some sort of big deal here?"

"He has been a thorn in the side of Mahogany Town for quite some time no-" The cheery, elderly man attempted to explain to me who Ghandi was, but he was interrupted by Sora and his 'little boy' energy.

"Ghandi is the leader of the Mafia! He losted to you, so I guess you're the new leader of the Mafia!"

"Who, me?!" This little boy wasn't just babbling something he made up, was he? "W-wait? What exactly IS the Mafia?"

"You ask to many questions, miss!" Sora answered.

Okay, not the reply I was looking for.

"Mother, Father." The flower shop owner called the elderly couple, "I see Sora's as hyper as ever. Has he been eating sweets again? I told you I didn't want him eating too much sugar."

"Don't worry, Cheryl. Besides, if all you feed him is veggies he'll only want MORE sugar." The elderly woman answered.

Sora and Rose are the same age, but they couldn't be more different.

I wonder what Rose makes of this situation anyway…

"Huh? Rose?"

"Hmhmhmhmhm. Hnhnhnhnhn." I guess I spoke too soon. Ladies and gentlemen, the 'little girl' in Rose The Maiden has taken over. Rose was cooing as she was tending to the roses that were arranged in the flower shop. She had received the Lotad from Sunflora, and was watering the roses with such a big smile on her face. She's looks adorable when she's happy. Haha, Rose loves flowers so much. She was the reason why we even came to this shop in the first place.

"Pokemon Ranger." I was called by the elderly woman.

"Yes?" I was very respectful, as I was with all my elders.

"I can't thank you enough for saving my daughter and her flower shop. It means so much to us."

"It's just a day in the life of a heroine, I guess." I was being modest, "While we don't save people for the gratification, it's nice to know we are appreciated."

The woman smiled. Following this, we gave in to a moment of silence while watching Sora try to play with his mother and grandfather.

Seconds later, Sora's grandmother spoke again, "This is the first time anyone has beaten Ghandi. May I ask your name? Oh, and the name of the darling little girl as well."

"I'm Chapel, and my partner in crime over there is Rose."

We could see Banette and Piplup jumping in to help Rose with the plants. Banette used her ghostly power to turn the roses the perfect shade of midnight black, while Piplup aided Rose and Lotad in watering them.

"We do not overestimate your victory over Ghandi." The grandmother started, "Seeing Ghandi look vulnerable for the first time might give the people of Mahogany Town the courage to finally stand up to him. Word will spread around about WHO defeated Ghandi, and once people find out it was you and Rose, you'll have a lot of answering to do. People will want to know your secret." The woman calmly looked at a Chime still floating right beside me. "In a way, you'll be responsible for saving the entire town of Mahogany. Spring is here, and the rough winter has passed. We all wish to put the depressing season behind us, and bring about a new culture."

"What reason do we have to say no? We don't even need a reason to save people in the first place." I replied.

"I'll take that as a yes." The grandmother said. She then digressed, "I would like for you and you party to accompany my husband and I to our shop. There's a gift I'd like to give you."

.

Location: Mahogany Town-Local Store

Though Sora was initially supposed to be dropped off with his mother, he insisted on going with his grandparents. The elderly couple supported the idea, while Sora's attitude only encouraged his mother. Sora was not in any sort of school, so there was nothing to lose in him spending an extra day with his grandparents.

Rose was the last of us to exit the flower shop, but not without a black rose in her hand. She gave the Renewed flower shop a longer farewell than I did. She waved goodbye to all of the pokemon, but gave special attention to the Lilligant in particular. I guess this Lilligant reminds Rose of the one her Mother Flora has. Rose and Flora's Lilligant were so much like sisters.

Banette, Piplup, and Chime all accompanied us, of course. Together, we all followed Sora and his grandparents to their store.

Just what kind of store was it?

"We're here." The elderly woman announced.

"Aw!" I said as I looked at the small building, "This is just the store we were planning to go to!"

"Before getting caught up in the mess named Ghandi." Rose finished.

It was the local Pokemon Store serving as the PokeMart that Mahogany Town didn't have.

"It may not be much in the eyes of the average traveler. But to my husband and I, this store is our life."

Chime and I looked at each other. We both understood how much the seemingly small things in one's life can mean to someone…

Sora raced to the shop with excitement. "Grandma and Grandpa's shop is the best! We get to see trainers come in with the awesomest pokemon!" Being five years old, Sora could be forgiven for using 'awesomest', which isn't even a word. "Come on, Grandpa! Let's open already!"

"Haha. There there, hold your horses, little man," The elderly man said cheerfully as he slowly followed.

"So what was it that you wanted to show us?" I asked the elderly woman.

"Yes, please answer. I am intrigued by the mystery surrounding this surprise." Rose added.

"My, what a well-mannered young lady you are. So polite." The elderly woman seemed so pleased by Rose's ladylike demeanor. "You and your friends come with me to the family nursery, and you will find out."

It couldn't be emphasized enough: This store had 'family-owned' written all over it. From the welcoming atmosphere to simply being the furthest thing away from coorperate. Because their daughter owned the Renewed: Life's Flowers shop, I came to the conclusion that owning businesses probably ran in the family. Sora brings so much life and energy with him, he'd make the perfect salesman for his own business someday.

Buying Berries and Potions was going to have to wait until after the gift is received, as well as conducting business. Before starting the cash register, Sora's grandfather expressed that he wished to see the joy on my face when I get the gift. Rose was still preoccupied with her black rose from the flower shop.

I expected there to be a door to lead into the nursery, but no. The nursery was one with the shop!

"This nursery doesn't have the size and reputation as the one in Goldenrod City, and there might not be many pokemon in it right now, but it's ours, and that's what counts." The elderly man explained.

"As a child, I LIVED near the nursery near Goldenrod. Mother Chiyo is gone now, and the house is abandoned, but the memories of me as a little girl enjoying all the cute pokemon in the Nursery are some of my most precious…" Both Chime and I felt a bit of nostalgia as I mentioned our old house. It's been so long since we've been there…I'd like to return to Goldenrod City someday…

This nursery WAS different from the one near Goldenrod City. Only two pokemon were present: Herdier and Liepard.

"Meow."

"Arf!"

"Liepard and Herdier are both regulars. Their trainer brings them to the nursery so often, they've become big helpers. They really know how to take charge and lead new pokemon here, whether the new pokemon be from passing trainers or just hatching from their Eggs." The elderly woman explained.

My ears perked up. "Pokemon eggs?!" Hearing the words 'pokemon' and 'eggs' used together was enough to excite anyone. Rose and I were no different.

Yumi told me about how she and Seth hatched a baby Espurr not too long ago. Rose and I never got the chance to meet this Espurr though, and Yumi said she doesn't like talking about what happened. I would ask Seth, but I never have the chance. There's always some sort of conflict to overshadow the question. I was a bit jealous of them. Even Rose allowed a hint of envy to surface.

I grew excited, having about as much energy as Sora as I asked, "Oh please! Can we see the eggs?"

Sora's grandfather chuckled. "You girls saved our daughter and her flower shop. Letting you two hold an egg is the least we can do."

"Like we said: Defeating Ghandi does SO much to lift this town's spirits. You've done more for us than you think by influencing everyone." The elderly woman added.

"Go on, you two each pick out an egg you like."

Rose and I looked at each other. We both squealed with an abundance of enthusiasm, jumping up and down like giddy middle school girls.

We raced to the single row of eggs that were lined up along the edge of the playpen that was meant for smaller pokemon. Liepard and Herdier were very welcoming.

"What to choose, what to choose…" Rose and I were staring at seven eggs exactly.

"Look!" Rose didn't take long to before spotting the exact egg she wanted. "This egg, it has a big red flower on it! The shade of red is reminiscent of the vividness that a rose presents…" Rose was right. She didn't say that the flower design on the egg was a rose outright. That's because it wasn't. It was a regular flower with ruby-red pedals. "I love it…"

"You made a great choice, dear." The elderly man said.

"Now you take good care of it."

I gaped.

"W-wow! You are honest?" They were going to let up keep the eggs?! "I give you my utmost gratitude!" Rose gave the couple a formal curtsey. She then proceeded to hug the egg affectionately.

Rose receiving the egg for keeps, Banette was quick to ask Rose to get a closer glance at it. Banette was looking at her future brother/sister!

"Pip!"

"Chime chime!"

Piplup and Chime were so eager, they didn't even wait for me to start examining the remaining six eggs.

"Let's see…" There was an all pink egg, and an egg that was yellow in color with black stripes. The third egg was lilac with black markings.

"Piplup!" Piplup brought the fourth egg to me. This egg was brown, with zigzags that were a brown of a lighter shade.

"Chime chime!" Chime used his Psychic power to bring the fifth egg to me. The egg was dark teal, with lavender highlights throughout.

"These eggs are all nice," I said.

There was only one egg I'd yet to look at, and it was the one that got my full attention.

"Ooh…Ahh…" This egg didn't have as fancy a design as Rose's egg, and it wasn't as overall flashy as the teal egg. You could make a case that it was the most plain looking of the bunch. It was a plain creamy white color. "Plain…I like it. I guess there's just beauty in simplicity…"

I had made my decision. Because this white egg was going to be traveling with me, the pokemon hatching from it will have to play a part in saving the entire world. This is a young one, but with me as its trainer, the possibilities are endless.

I wonder how long it will be before it hatches? As short as a day? As long as a month? Anything in between was possible. I just know we'll become great partners, and I will love this little one as part of my family…

"I choose this one." I walked past Piplup and Chime, picking up the white egg and holding it in my arms.

"Wonderous" Rose cheered while holding her egg in her arms.

"Oh, me! Me! I want an egg too!" Sora called out in happiness.

"But you're much too young, Sora." His grandmother replied.

"Well what about HER?!" Sora pointed at Rose "I bet she's younger than me!"

What if Sora WAS older than Rose? That would be weird. Sora is hyper and loves adventure, while Rose is well mannered and loves girly things such as flowers and affection.

"Rose has a little bit more responsibility than you do, Sora." His grandfather said. "Your birthday is coming up. Maybe your mother will surprise you."

"That would be so awesomeness!"

"Can you believe it Rose? We got our own eggs! Wait til we tell Yumi!" I exclaimed to Rose.

Rose nodded. "This day has turned out to be glorious thus far. It shall be sealed with one more question I have for the elderly couple." Rose and Banette both approached Sora's grandparents.

"What is it you wish to ask, Rose?" Banette asked.

"You look might cute with that egg in your arms. Do you need anything, young lady?"

Rose took a deep breath. "I fell in love with the flowers in the shop belonging to your daughter. Though I spent just a short time tending the flowers, I savored it. I know I was a big help for the shop. That is why…" Rose paused. She was slightly on the reticent side, though I think she's just overthinking the situation. "Can I help out around your shop too?"

Location: Mahogany Town-Outside Renewed: Life's Flowers

"I, Ghandi, Leader of the Mafia, have been shamed…by two GIRLS…"

Ghandi was expressing great disdain toward his defeat to Chapel and Rose. This was MORE than just a simple defeat; it was more than just an embarrassing defeat as well. In the eyes of everyone in Mahogany Town, Ghandi was on the wrong side of a moment of weakness. A culture change was on the horizon. The flower shop owner knew it, the townspeople knew, and now, Ghandi nows better than anyone else.

Upon waking up, Ghandi found himself outside the flower shop. He recalled his downed Magmortar, and bothered not to disturb the flower shop again. Being emasculated the way he was left Ghandi much too embarrassed to confront the woman.

Humiliated, Ghandi started hearing voices in his head.

"Dude! It's the guy who got one-shotted by a girl!"

"Why is that such a big deal?"

"Because he was looking for a bone to pick! I swear, he was dishing it, but he sure couldn't take it."

"SHUT UP. SHUT UP!" Ghandi turned around. "Huh?" But there was nobody there.

He was so worried about what the townspeople would say about him, that his brain started playing tricks. The words Ghandi heard were nothing more than illusions.

"Maybe…Maybe there's a way to stop these fools from talking crap." Ghandi said to himself. A few moments passed before he thought of something, "Yes. All I've got to do is get revenge on those girls. Once I destroy them, I'll have regained my reputation before it was ever truly lost!" Ghandi grinned. A man's pride is only so fragile. Once it's been taken, he'll do nearly anything to get it back.

Ghandi began walking, now set forth on a purpose. Mission: Defeat Chapel and Rose.

"Revenge is a dish best served cold…"

Chapel's POV

Despite the excitement of receiving her first egg, Rose's desire to help out around a shop wasn't clouded. While she wasn't fortunate enough to have hatched this idea while at the Renewed flower shop, working in a small, family owned business was the next best thing.

The elderly couple was delighted to hear Rose request something so selfless, and gladly answered yes. She and Banette squealed, and were brought right to the cash register.

There wasn't really anything keeping me from staying at the shop myself, so why not? It will be nice to help promote a healthy atmosphere. With that in mind, me and my pokemon followed Rose, Banette, and the others.

Upon arriving at the register, the elderly woman stated that they were almost ready to open shop for the day. The only thing that needed to be done was dusting the medicine, Pokeballs, and souvenirs. Rose was the first to volunteer, followed by Sora, who bravely declared that he could dust more than Rose. Overall, it was a 50/50 job, though Banette DID cut into their work.

Mahogany Town's local mart was open for business! I, the unofficial leader of the group, announced myself as the designated operator of the cash register!

"Hey!" Rose was not buying it.

SHOULD I be calling myself the group leader if Rose is competent with or without me?

Rose, Banette, Piplup, and Chimecho all crowded around me. We were going to run the register together!

Just like with other jobs, this one came with bumps and wrongs during the first steps. Luckily, Sora and his grandparents were able to guide us until we were competent on our own.

"Why don't you try this next customer on your own, girls!" The elderly man said.

The family backed off, and we readied for the next person to enter the shop.

"Did you hear that, Rose?" I asked.

The little girl nodded her head, "Our actions will dictate the amount of money left in the wallet of our first customer. We must not make a mistake. More money spent here means less money for future purchases, and less money for future purchases means the possibility of said trainer being unable to maintain his or her pokemon to the most pleasant standards. The pokemon could be deprived of food and medicine, and will ultimately die. The career of this trainer would come to an unceremonious end. Who knows? Maybe this trainer hold the key to saving the world. If we fail this trainer, the entire world will be destroyed!"

Okay, THAT is exaggeration taken to the infinite level. Scratch that. Rose gave that imaginative explanation with such a coy smile, she knew making such a joke would score some alienated looks from me and our pokemon.

"Are you ready?" Rose asked.

I nodded. "Bring it on!"

"Chico."

Perhaps I spoke too soon.

When hearing that Chikorita cry, it meant one thing: things were going to slow down and become serious as 'he' enters the room.

"Maw." Mawile was behind him, and she was still bandaged up from her gym battle. What should I make of Seth since he has started taking great care of Mawile?

Rose and I said not one word, which prompted a question from the elderly man, who didn't stray too far.

"What seems to be the matter? You girls were enthusiastic greeting and tending to customers."

"Do you know that fellow?" Sora's grandmother asked.

She asked the question, but didn't bother to wait for an answer from Rose and I. She walked over to Seth, Sora beating her there with his hyperactivity.

"No…" I gritted my teeth as I whispered under my breath. At times, Seth can be guilelessly cold with his word selection…But, he DOES have manners and common courtesy reserved for those who don't antagonize him.

"Aw! A Chikorita!" Sora called as he stopped in front of Seth.

"Chico?" Chikorita was a little startled by the sudden burst of energy coming at her. She didn't mind though, and she greeted Sora with a smile, "Chico!"

"And a…uh? I don't know that pokemon." Sora scratched his head. He looked so innocent. I guess he's never seen a Mawile before.

"Young man, might you need any help?" Sora's grandmother asked as she approached Seth.

"As a matter of fact, I do." He answered.

"What?" This was a first for me. Seth WASN'T secluding himself when being offered help.

"I'd be grateful if you were to show me guides on Pokemon Doctoring." I don't get it. He wasn't cheeful, and OF COURSE he wasn't smiling. But something about him seems friendly and welcoming.

"I think we have ourselves a trainer who really cares for his pokemon's health, Sora." Sora's grandmother said this while looking at Mawile and the bandages wrapped around her. She said nothing, but took a mental note. Seth was perceptive enough to take note of this, but he also said nothing. "Follow me, and I'll lead you to the perfect book."

Most trainers don't really touch up on the subject of Pokemon Doctoring because of the luxury of having Pokemon Centers to solve all their problems. Truly taking care of your Pokemon is almost a lost art in the modern world. I'm a Pokemon Ranger, and the path to get to that point wasn't easy. The path was long, but I have learned my fair share of Pokemon health along the way. But Seth of all people? I didn't think he had it in him.

"A Trainer's Guide to Pokemon Doctoring: Our Pokemon's Live Matter." This was the title of the book given to Seth by the elderly woman. "You use it to take good care of Mawile. She's a sweetie."

"Wile." Mawile blushed slightly.

Seth gave the elderly woman a much appreciated 'thank you'. Seth then started on his way to the cash register, Sora waving Chikorita goodbye as she and Mawile followed.

It was hard to tell what Seth was thinking when he laid eyes on me, Rose, and our pokemon. He placed the Pokemon Doctoring Guide on the counter to be purchased.

"Chico!" I guess it was Chikorita's job to greet people FOR Seth.

"Maw!"

"Good morning!" Haha, I decided to play along with the fact that Seth was MY customer. Maybe he'll say something about the fact, "Is this all you'll be needing?"

Rose said nothing. Perhaps she was overthinking the possible scenarios that could occur. She does that often, though not as often as when she isolated herself from strangers.

"What are you doing here?" Seth asked.

"You're actually curious? I flattered that you care about what goes on in my day. Rose too!" That's a trick girls will use to get boys to blush. Yumi told me that getting Seth to blush was an insurmountable task, and right now was no different. Oh well, you can't blame me for trying to end the streak.

I took the Pokemon Doctoring Guide and scanned it. 250 PokeDollars, it was.

"Since when are you into Pokemon Doctoring?" I asked.

"Since my last gym battle. What happened to Mawile could happen again, and if that time comes, I might not have the privilege of having a Pokemon Center nearby." Seth replied. "This book will teach me smaller remedies for different ailments, and be of practical use outside of battle. Knowledge is power; power I can use to defeat Neo Snagem."

I've seen Seth taking extra care of Mawile since their gym battle. From where I often stood, it took a little time before Seth started knowing what he was doing. Mawile has savored her treatments with genuine content, and the results have satisfied Seth.

"You really desire to take extra care of your pokemon." Seth is my rival, but that doesn't keep me from giving credit where it's due. It's certainly a step in the right direction…aside from the 'knowledge is power to beat Neo Snagem' nugget. The thirst for vengeance is still there…

Seth gave us the 250 PokeDollars, while Chime placed the Pokemon Doctoring Guide in a paper bag using his Psychic power. Piplup grabbed the bag and handed it to Seth.

Seth gave us his thanks, but before he left, he looked at the Pokemon Egg Rose was holding and took note of it. "Hmph." He turned around and started walking, Chikorita and Mawile following.

With Seth gone, I turned to Rose, "What's wrong? You didn't say anything to Seth."

"Honestly, I do not know what to make of Brother. Sometimes, he is a cold and callous character with no purpose other than defeating Team Neo Snagem. Other times, he can show a sweet side buried underneath all the darkness. He welcomed the grandmother of Sora, and now he is caring for his pokemon like it is the end of the world." Rose replied.

"So you girls know him?" The elderly man asked.

We nodded. "Who would've thought HE'D beat US to putting in extra effort toward Pokemon care?"

Later…

Later in the day, we had ONE MORE notable customer.

"Good afternoon-oh?" Rose paused as she made eye contact with the person who just entered the shop.

"-So the smart-ass' cheerleading section stoops low enough to become cashiers." It was HER: Morana.

It hasn't even been five seconds and her she's ALREADY looking to start something with that mouth of hers.

"I'm sorry, scratch that. To call you a cheerleading section would be an insult to the word 'cheerleader'. You two were such a bore you put Kricketune to sleep. I'll say though: With the way you slapped the smart-ass, you must get triggered by him very easily, almost as much as how much you get triggered by ME."

I gritted my teeth, and I clenched my fist.

"Chapel, you must contain yourself." Rose said to me, "As workers, it is not in our place to conflict with a potential customer." She groaned, "Nasty attitudes are not as important big business as money."

This ISN'T a big business.

"You should listen to her." Morana suggested. She smirked as she pointed her signature wand-like pointer at me. "For all intents and purposes, I can punch you in the face, and you'll smile at me and like it! Because if you don't, you wouldn't be providing good customer service! After all, the money-er I mean, the customer is always right!"

What did I have to lose by retaliating against Morana? Not much. I would probably just be reprimanded and possibly 'sent home'.

From the moment I met her, I've despised Morana. 'Despise' is a word I really prefer not to use because I wish to promote a positive atmosphere, but that word was the only way I could summarize all my feelings toward Morana.

I'm not like Seth. I actually have enough passion to react whenever Morana insults me. That woman gets such a kick in seeing me on the verge of slapping her. That doesn't mean I don't admire Seth and his ability to brush off insults like they're nothing.

I wasn't going to back down, so what was I going to say?

"For all intents and purposes, huh?" I echoed. It was time for me to teach Morana a lesson in respect. "…After all, respect is something that is earned."

"Hm?" Morana was confused as I finished my thought out loud.

"Morana, I challenge you to a battle!"

Piplup and Chime perked up, while Rose and Banette questioned me.

"You? Challenge ME?" Morana scoffed.

"You depreciate everything and everyone around you. I haven't known you too long, but I'm already eager to shut you up and teach you a lesson." I replied. "You're Mahogany Town's Gym Leader, and I'm a challenger. For all intents and purposes, have to accept my challenge, or else, I'll slap some sense in to you with my own hands!"

Morana was threatened, and this led to her and I having a stare down. Would she answer yes or no? The tension was high.

Sora and his grandparents all saw what was going on, but chose not to intervene. The elderly couple took note of Morana's foul mouth, which could be the reason why they're letting me sort the situation out my way.

Morana's eyes narrowed. "Challenge accepted, punk. I'd love nothing more than to take your passion and smash it into a million pieces."

After replying to my question, Morana made a quick trip to the back of the store before stopping in front of us at the register. What she placed on the counter were a handful of Irons and Zincs. I assume these were for Glalie and powering up his Ice Barrier, especially after the Ice Barrier was shattered in its last battle.

The purchase was made, and Morana used her wand-like pointer to carrier the plastic bags given to her.

As Morana started on her way, she said to me, "The battle will be at my gym at approximately 1800 this evening. If you're alive, be there."

1800…6:00 this evening, it was. Even though I was on the job, I was ready to battle NOW. Seth may have been swept by Morana Glalie, but that didn't mean nothing good came out of the battle. What Seth showed me, were weaknesses that could be exploited when it came to Morana's pokemon. "Alrighty then!"

Before Morana left though… "Alive?" Rose parroted, "What exactly do you mean by 'if you are alive, be there'?"

Wow, Rose was very keen. I was not that attentive to such detail.

Morana stopped as chuckled. "Rumor has it that a man named Ghandi was defeated today…by you. The leader of the Mafia certainly has something to prove: that he's still the 'big man on campus'. I heard he tried to burn down a helpless flower shop today, in a vain effort. He's more determined than ever to burn down his next stop: The Shop we're standing in right now."

"This shop?" I questioned.

I got no answer from Morana as she went on her way. Her hair could be seen blowing in the fresh spring breeze.

Rose thought out loud, "What reason would Ghandi have to target this of all shops?"

"The answer is simple." The elderly woman answered as she approached us.

"This is the parent shop that helps keep the Renewed Flower Shop making money." The elderly man started explaining. "Obviously, the Renewed: Life's Flowers thrives on spring days like these. However…all is not sunshine and rainbows during the autumn and winter months. Business for the flower shop has always plummeted during season's change, due to the sheer fact that caring for plants becomes near insurmountable in the cold. So in turn, we lend our daughter a helping hand in keeping the store running."

That wasn't the last of it. Here's where the explanation gets complicated.

The elderly woman picked up where her husband left off, "…We are in great debt to The Mafia that Ghandi always talks about."

"How?" I asked.

"…Before this shop, me and my husband used to own another one here in Mahogany Town. I'd ascertain as to how long it's been abandoned now…"

"It has to be five years. Our old mart was abandoned when Team Rocket met their demise…Team Rocket's Hideout was hidden in our old mart…"

My eyes widened. Were they referring to the SAME abandoned building where I battled Commander 06?!

"We were apprehended by the law. Weeks passed as we awaited our ultimate punishment for harboring such evil. Presumably, our lives were going to end in prison, because the criminal charges were in the hundreds. My husband and I were prepared to say goodbye to each other for the final time. We cried."

"It was not like we ever wished to aid Team Rocket. But they threatened our daughter while she was still with us." The elderly man continued, "Sora was newborn child, no more than a week old. That didn't stop Team Rocket from threatening to harm him. We were given an ultimatum, and had no choice but to comply, otherwise, Sora wouldn't be the bright young boy with us today."

"Ghandi used to be such a gentleman. He was moved by our story, and with him basically being a 'superpower' in Mahogany, he convinced the judge to void our cases. He saved our lives and allowed us to start anew in this shop right here. Unfortunately, our time to rejoice wasn't meant to last."

"With every day that passed, the crowning of Ghandi as Mahogany Town's 'superpower' became less and less recent. The cons of politics began to add up, and really started taking a toll on him. He eventually had an epiphany for the worst: Caring for the common folk accomplished nothing but driving him into a depression. From that moment on, Ghandi changed. He started anew by rechristening his old political party for a new one, if you could call it that: The Mafia, a group of elitists who have been handed power on a silver platter. The Mafia was the wrong vice for Ghandi to fall into. They changed him, to the power-hungry abuser we all know today. Since he saved our lives, we've been in Ghandi's eternal debt."

"So he basically owns this store, and THAT means he also owns the Flower Shop!"

"In a 'network of related forces' sort of way." Rose clarified.

"He threatened to burn down the Flower Shop today, and failed. But now he's on his way here!" I exclaimed. "

Rose pulled no punches when jumping to her conclusive prediction, "He plans to destroy this shop. He will want to avenge his defeat earlier today."

"Ghandi's gonna destroy the store? What does destroy mean?" Just like in his grandparents' story, Sora was just too young and naïve to understand, "Ghandi is always coming over here to give Grandma and Grandpa a hard time. But…that can end, right? After all, Chapel and Rose are here to save us!"

"If what everybody says is true, then yes, we ARE here to save you." I gave Sora a smile as I answered to him with motivation, "It is our duty to help any and everybody in need. If Ghandi's not happy to see me when he gets here, so sue me!"

Ghandi's troubling story aside, he was still acting in the stead of a bully who abuses his power. I may not know who the Mafia is, and I may never get the chance to meet them, that doesn't matter. All that matter is defeating Ghandi once and for all. Today, we'll plant an exclamation point on the phrase 'You are no longer in control of this town and its people'…

.

Chime senses

The time has come…

"In a matter of hours, I, Ghandi, Leader of the Mafia, have gone from undisputed superpower, to being the talk of the town…like I'm some sort of freak."

Ghandi was walking.

"My reputation has been destroyed, and if nothing is done soon, I may never be able to reclaim my former glory. I must assert my authority before it is too late…"

This mindset, just as Rose predicted, has brought Ghandi to the elders' store.

"I failed to destroy that flower shop before, but this time will be different." Ghandi was determined. "This is the parent shop that keeps the Flower Shop running. And as with any family metaphor, destroy the parents first, then following up with the children becomes a simple task. These old timers have been in my debt for the last five years, and they've yet to fully repay me. My patience has run thin, so thin, that the question of when they'll repay me is overshadowed by 'THEY'LL NEVER RID THEMSELVES OF THE DEBT'….I'll be doing them a favor by putting them and their shop out of their misery…"

"Mag…" Ghandi's Magmortar cried in agreement as they stared at the shop's front doors.

Back to Chapel…

"Chime?!" Chime could sense something. It was so unceremoniously, it slightly startled the Psychic Type. He flew closer to me, "Chime! Chime chime!"

"Hm?" I said confused…Why was I confused? We all knew the reason why Chime was uneasy. "Is Ghandi here?"

Chime nodded, which prompted me take command.

"Sora! Take you Granparents to the Nursery!" I commanded.

"But what about you?" Sora questioned.

"Don't worry I'll be just fine." Reassuring a small child required more than words alone. I gave Sora a smile. This smile said 'confidence'. I was confident we could make short work of Ghandi. "You and your grandparents will be safe in the nursery, we'll make sure of that. Liepard and Herdier will be there to defend you as well!"

I hadn't the time to wait for Sora to reply. I immediately turned to the pokemon, "Piplup, be sure to keep our eggs safe. Rose, Chime and Banette? You'll be fighting with me again."

The time to prepare for the worst was now. We all knew Ghandi was going to come at us with a passion that was absent last time, when he underestimated us. How were we to know Ghandi wasn't going to just bypass the fight and skip straight to destroying the shop?

"Come on, Sora." Sora being led to the nursery had me thinking on only one answer to my own question. Ghandi WASN'T going to destroy the shop, not with me and Rose here.

"Pip. Piplup." Piplup had to make two separate trips to retrieve each egg and bring them to the nursery.

All who remained in the room were me, Chime, Rose, and Banette. We were ready…

From where we stood, footsteps could be heard. These footsteps were quaint to us, because the door to the outside was closed. A second set of footsteps followed.

When the door opened, the silhouette of a blonde haired, blue eyed man wearing a suit and tied appeared. He was completely unaware that Rose and I were here until feasting his eyes on us. Upon seeing us, he did not show any emotion. He was not smile, telling us that he was all business.

"This store's final debt is long overdue." The fact that Ghandi was calm would be unnerving…if it wasn't me and Rose of all people facing him. With the calm expression I just noted, Ghandi decided to take matters into his own hands, despite Magmortar standing right behind him. He took a lighter, and with haste, he purposely jammed the trigger mechanism. These were the chapter's final words before he let the lighter fall. "This will be my last stand. Because my reputation is on the line, you and this store you're in will perish. Right. About. Now…"

To Be Continued…

Author's Note:

Ladies and gentleman, as of this author's note, this is Virus Version's first chapter to reach 10,000 words, which puts Virus Version at over 400,000. I DID intend for this to be a long chapter. I promised a stretch of Seth centric chapters, with a chapter or two to bridge the gap between the gym battles. To fulfill that promise, I had to squeeze alot into this one.

Also, this chapter was a bit last minute. Initially, this chapter was going to be about Chapel and Rose meeting a new character who's a lecherous pervert. I DID get a good 7,000 words in before I ultimately scrapped the plot completely. I felt the chapter to be mean spirited, and I EVEN had Chapel and Rose break the fourth wall, noting that it WAS Virus Version at its absolute worse. At this point, Pokemon Virus Version knows the type of story it wants to be, and I simply didn't want to give you readers such a burden of a chapter to read. Perversion jokes were nonstop, and Virus Version just DOESN'T DO PERVERSION LIKE THAT. Yes, there were a few instances where a few jokes were made, but the jokes were subtle, Pokemon Virus Version's main brand of humor. But the jokes in THIS PARTICULAR chapter were so straightforward and mean spirited. The character I planned on introducing was unlikeable in every way, and had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Hell, he had a Pokemon Egg that Chapel took for keeps because 'the egg was the perfect babe magnet'. The whole segment with Seth walking in on Yumi like that at the beginning of the chapter was JUST a nod to a little nugget Seth made over 100 chapters ago. HE TOLD YUMI IN VIOLET CITY "Sharing a room isn't a good idea. I might walk in on you wearing nothing but your underwear." Just a gag, and without a doubt, I know all of you readers have long forgotten.

I guess it worked out in the end because Rose WASN'T supposed to receive an egg in the original Chapter 112. Only Chapel was.

I also feel the need to establish some likeability to for Seth. He'll still be cold toward those not considered his friends, but he'll care for his pokemon like the family he wish he had...After all, we don't want him to end up like one of the most unlikeable characters in all of anime: Sasuke Uchiha!
