Natsu let out a soft moan as consciousness returned to him.
He felt a soft hand caressing his hair and opened his eyes.
Turning his head up he saw Lucy smiling down at him as his head laid down on her lap.
"Lucy? Where are we?" Natsu asked slowly.
"We are back at Magnolia Natsu. We did it. We won. Zeus and the other gods are all dead." Lucy said smiling down at him.
Natsu gave a soft smile as he realized that his life long goal was finally over.
Natsu then saw several pink leaves fall around him.
He then looked up and saw that behind Lucy was a sakura tree, and it's blossom's were falling to the ground all around him.
Natsu smiled as he saw this. He loved this tree, it was his favorite in the entire world. Here is where he and Lucy first met and here is where they fell in love with one another.
Lucy continued to brush Natsu's hair, a content smile upon her lips as she did so.
Natsu for his part was actually starting to feel sleepy, a sence of calm and peace resting in his soul.
He thought back on what happened to him during his life.
Finding Igneel, being trained by the Fire Dragon King, Igneel leaving him. Him being captured by Cell-X, being experimented on, having God-Slayer and Devil-Slayer energies pumped into his body as he was transformed into a weapon, being told time and time again he was a weapon. Seeing Wendy, Gajeel, Sting and Rogue killed and used to further their research and used to enhance him into a greater weapon. Breaking free and leaving Cell-X.
Meeting Lucy and joining Fairy Tail. Going on quests and having fun. Watching as Fairy Tail was destroyed by the gods in order to kill him. Going on the quest for the six greatest swords in the world to try and forgue a sword capable of killing the gods. Finding the legendary hammer of Solus and using it to create Excalibur.
Going into hell to try and free Mirajane from Lucifer's grasp. That epic battle in which he finally let go of his guilt and shame and accepted his power's as his own. The emergance of his true power and the final fight with Lucifer in which Mirajane took her revenge and stole Lucifer's power.
The next part of their jounrey saw Lucy being captured by Cell-X and all Zodiac Spirit's in the world being killed and their essence and power fused into Lucy's soul. How Natsu's rage emerged and destroyed Cell-X for good this time. Comforting Lucy and finally confessing his feeling's for her.
The next leg of the tale took them to the Nexus as they naviagted that dangerous dimension to find the sword that transcended all other swords. After many hazerdous battle's and even Gray losing his right arm, they finally found Kanosei and Natsu took up his destiny as the wielder of that monsterous sword.
The final act of their story brought them to Heaven itself and saw their group along with the armies of man, dragon's, demons and angels all uniting to take down the gods. He remembered seeing many good friends fall and die that day to ensure the continued servival of all mankind. He remembered himself challenging Zeus himself and their battle which shook Heaven and Earth, but he remembered him stabbing Kanosei into Zeus's chest.
Natsu sighed contently as he remembered what it took to gain victory. The deaths of so many people, plus the destruction of his own soul.
He could feel it now, his heart starting to slow down as his body slowly shut down due to the destruction of his soul.
Natsu felt sleepy, the soft touches of Lucy while a gentle breeze flowed across his body as the sakura leaves fell around him.
Natsu smiled, it was if nature herself felt Natsu's approaching death and sought to make sure he felt as comfortable as possible before he left for the afterlife.
Natsu turned his head a little and saw Kanosei, his beloved sword stabbed right in front of the sakura tree, as if acting like a head stone.
Despite all that had happened, Natsu felt content with how he lived his life. He had suffered, but never gave up. He was bent, but never broken. Beaten, but never defeated. He had met and fallen in love with an incredible women and he had made the greatest friends in the history of the world. He had no regrets.
Footsteps were fast approaching, but Natsu didn't have the stength to turn his head anymore.
"Shh." Lucy said as she carressed Natsu's hair. "It's okay. Everyone else will be here soon. It's time to go to sleep. I will wait for you Natsu."
Lucy then gave Natsu a soft kiss on the lips.
Natsu breathe grew softer and softer as his heart beat slowed and slowed.
"Lucy, thanks for being by my side through all of this." Natsu said as his eyes grew heavier nd heavier until they shut and finally, Natsu breathed his last.
Lucy smiled sadly down at the dead body of her lover, a peaceful smile on his face.
She supposed that if Natsu was too die, there was no better way than this. In front of his favorite tree as it's beautiful leaves fell around him as a gentle breeze wrapped around him, in the arms of she who loved him the most, knowing that his life long goal was finally complete.
Lucy looked up and saw Gray, Erza, Mirajane and Happy all running up the large hill to try and reach them.
Lucy then looked down once more to Natsu's peaceful face and said, "Thanks for the memories Natsu."
Lucy then looked over upon the rebuilt and thriving city that was Magnolia and she knew, that as long as human's existed, the legend of Natsu Dragneel would be remembered.
Lucy then gave a peaceful smile as she then layed back upon the metal surface of Kanosei, the sword that glowed brighter then any star in the sky when it had been fully unleashed, showing just how far human's could progress now that the gods where gone for good.
She knew the future was secured and so she fell asleep, awaiting for her friends to reach her.
And thus we come to end of our tale, the story of a boy who was turned into a monster, the monster who was turned into a man, the man who slayed the gods above and brought forth a new age for all those living on the planet.
The story of Natsu Dragneel, the greatest of all heroes who have ever lived.
